Fighting Is Magic was canceled, but, because the Skullgirls team actually let the origional Fighting Is Magic crew borrow the Skullgirls Engine, Them Fighting Herds was born
Edited by MOARPYLONZI removed this thanks to the trope being cut for wiki use via the TRS, but I think it's interesting enough to preserve it, somewhat.
- Filia is voiced by Christine Marie Cabanos, the voice of Azusa, Squid Girl and Madoka and will also voice Avery. Her hair parasite, Samson, is voiced by Patrick Seitz, voice of Ragna the Bloodedge, Bob, Hugo Andore, Scorpion, T.J. Combo, Bass Armstrong, Cervantes de Leon...and that's just his other fighting game roles.
- Cerebella is also Nanoha Takamachi, Mio Akiyama, Riven, and Homura Akemi, and is basically a HUGELY confident version of Noel Vermilion! She also has an upcoming announannouncer pack and will be one half of the Skullheart's voice and Aeon.
- Peacock is voiced by Sarah Williams, who voices Sayaka Miki. Her craziness as Peacock lives on as eventually she became chosen to voice Jinx, another crazy girl.
- Parasoul is voiced by Erin Fitzgerald, who voiced Nazz, May Kanker, Kodachi Kuno, Erica, Janna, Sona, Chie Satonaka, and Shadow Chie. She's also going to be voicing Hive and Selene Contiello.
- One of Parasoul's soldiers is voiced by Kaiji Tang, known to internet denizens as Juicey Flannigan. He provided the English voices of Kenshiro in Hokuto Musou and Lee Chaolan in Tekken: Blood Vengeance. He's also the guy who's voicing Republican Double, giving birth to memes like "REPUBLICAN CAR!"
- Ms. Fortune is voiced by Kimlinh Tran, who also voices Fidget, Queen Serecta & Ven, Abridged!Chi-Chi, Hiimdaisy!Nanako, Amanda, and Princess H.
- Painwheel is voiced by Danielle McRae, who also voiced Karma and Zorin Blitz.
- Valentine is played by Laura Post, who also voices Ahri and Arfoire. She's also voicing Ileum.
- Bloody Marie is voiced by Kira Buckland, the voice of Awesome!Meryl, Madoka Kyouno, and the princesses of Castle Crashers. She's also voicing Feng.
- The Announcer is voiced by Joshua Tomar who also voices Hiimdaisy!Dojima, Zanta, Trundle and many of Egoraptor's characters.
- Squigly is played by Lauren Landa, whom you may know as Kyouko Sakura and Litchi Faye-Ling. Therefore, instead of hunting for 'Black Squiggly', she's now a Squiggly herself. Huh. She'll also voice Venus
- Leviathan is voiced by Liam O'Brien, better known as Gaara, Akihiko, Dist, Asura, Kenzo Tenma, Air Raid, Red Skull, Inigo, and Lezard Valeth. He will also voice Dr Avian
- While he hasn't played any other characters, Big Band's voice actor Rich Brown does announcements for GameTrailers.com.
- Eliza's voice actor has been in many, many things. Some notable roles of hers include Yoko, Yukari Takeba, Noire and the female Avatar, Katherine, and Crimson Viper (The last of which is one of Eliza's palettes).
- Sekhmet's voice is another big name in the industry. She's been Faye Valentine, Leona, Xianghua, and another version of female Avatar. So this game makes two characters that Wendee Lee and Michelle Ruff have essentially been the same person. Wendee will also voice Black Dahlia and Mrs Victoria.
- Albus sounds just like Rufus. Horace is Goku and Lucario. Chris will also voice Stanley Whitefin and Adam Kapowski.
- Because of this trope, it's possible to make a League of Legends team (Cerebella, Painwheel, Valentine, Parasoul, Peacock, Filia (solely for Samsonnote ) Squigly (solely for Leviathannote ) and Eliza (solely for Sekhmetnote ) (not to mention having Trundle note do the match chatter), a Puella Magi Madoka Magica team (Filia, Cerebella, Peacock, or Squigly), a Dead or Alive Team (Filia, Squigly, Parasoul (solely for her 'troops') and Republican Double), or a BlazBlue team (Cerebella, Squigly, Parasoul and Eliza; due to their parasites being voiced by Ragna, Filia and Fukua also count).
- What's funny is that you can literally make a Madoka Magica team — Filia, Cerebella, Peacock, and Squigly all have alternate color palettes based on the characters their voice actresses played. While not an allusion, Ms Fortune gets the fifth palette (Mami Tomoe).
- With the announcement of voiced story mode, several other big names have joined the cast; Kyle Hebert as Roberto Contiello, Vitale Medici, Lorenzo, Irvin and Leduc, Cassandra Lee as Umbrella, Molly and one half of the Skull heart, Mike Z himself will voice Lorenzo Medici and Tommy Ten Tons, with Kaiji Tang taking the roles of Andy Anvil, Lawrence, Brain Drain, Grendel and Yu-Wan. Matthew Mercer voices Zane from Beowulf's story.
- And now, we have a Japanese voice work cast! To start off, Filia is Ayana Taketatsu, who is known for playing Labrys, Kirino and, coincidentally enough, Azusa.
- Kana Hanazawa was a Kuroneko, now she's a Undead-neko(and a Robo-Neko).
- And with Arc System Works behind the japanese publishing, we have some Blazblue seiyuus, Ragna as Big Band, Tsubaki as Valentine, Bullet as Cerebella and Kokonoe as Eliza.
- Izumi Kitta as Painwheel: "It's not my fault that I became a wicked experiment!"
- Big Band speaks for himself: "Now you're gonna say: 'INFERNO DIVIDER!' 'SAXIMO!' "OH, NO!"
- You can now make a Team Joestar: Big Band(Joseph), Beowulf(Jotaro), and Squigly(Jolyne).
Would Erin Fitzgerald's entry in Fake Nationality be subverted? She's originally from Victoria, Canada, and while my knowledge of Canada is rusty, I'm pretty sure that even in the English-dominant parts of the country, the people still know a little French.
Welp, Fukua's an actual character now and has reference palettes as well so she's been added.
I'm quite confident in my shitposting you knowI always thought Cerebella's #9 color was a reference to Mike Z's Tager. Anyone got the Word of God on that?
Did anyone else notice the "Upgrade To Full Game" selection on the main menu? Does that mean that the Skullgirls out now is a beta of some kind?
My power is absurd, defeat is everything.....wait a minute.. Hide / Show RepliesIf you've got the demo, that will be a selectable option. If you bought the game, you'll see that it's greyed out. In short- no, Skullgirls isn't a beta. :>
Er... What?
One is an indie game that's been in the works for many years, is an original IP, is being sold for profit, and has very over-the-top fighting comparable to the Marvel vs Capcom series. The other is a fan game that was only started recently, is not being sold for profit, and is more reserved in its fighting.
I don't see the resemblance besides "These are both cartoony graphic'd fighting games not being made by big companies."
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE. Hide / Show Replies
