open4Kids Localized One Piece Because of a Package Deal
It said on the 4Kids page that due to a package deal with Toei, they couldn't pass on localizing One Piece and from that point they were being forced into localizing One Piece until they could legally drop the licensing. Is there a source for that claim?
open Issues on UsefulNotes / RMS Titanic
In other news, Aurelian will not let their pet wank on the RMS Titanic page go. I'd really like for a mod to step in here and put a stop to it, or it's just going to either be the two of us going round in circles forever, or Aurelian whining about it until the end of time.
Please?
openInformation about Vic Mignona's allegations
User marikthegunslinger has edited the Dragon Ball Super: Broly page to add that Vic Mignogna multiple allegations for sexual conduct were "false". Likewise, he edited JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable to delete lines about the #kickVic movement and instead added a line where his portrayal of a character was praised. Likewise, he erased an entry in Dragon Ball Z Abridged that mentioned Vic's character coming off as a predator being in bad taste following his case.
I haven't been following Mignona case, but other than he suing Funimation for defamation, nothing has been confirmed or denied about the case. I want to ask what should I do regarding this. I want to delete Marik's entries and put back what they took out, but I don't want to enter in a possible conflict.
openEditor with grammar problems
On and on it goes... nuclear_shmatt is the editor in question this time. They have a particular penchant for run-on sentences and/or comma splices, confusion between "its" and "it's", and Word Cruft in the form of repetition and/or redundancy. I sent them a grammar notifier two days ago and their edits since then have shown no improvement.
openCannot add Nightmare Fuel page in the correct format
I tried to add a Nightmare Fuel page for Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth but when I added the title, it does not display properly, it displays something like Nightmare Fuel/Persona Q 2 New Cinema Labyrinth instead. If I add a bracket {{}} between them, they just refuse to hyperlink.
Is there anyway to make them appear as Nightmare Fuel/Persona Q2:New Cinema Labyrinth? I cannot find a way that lets me do so.
Edited by Mr-ex777openDetetive Pikachu question
The Film.Pokemon Detective Pikachu page has a huge list of people involved, which isn't noteworthy, except it also has what movies they were recently involved in, which is kind of clogging the page. Is that okay or should something be done?
"The film is directed by Rob Letterman (Monsters vs. Aliens, Goosebumps), with a screenplay based on a story by Letterman, Tom McCarthy (Up, Spotlight), and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy)note Though she was not credited for it, and stars Justice Smith (The Get Down, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Kathryn Newton (Paranormal Activity 4, Big Little Lies, Supernatural), and Ken Watanabe (Inception), alongside Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) as Detective Pikachu."
Edited by lalalei2001openSpoilers on Spoiler-Free pages Film
Can spoilers for one work be on a spoiler-free page for another work?
I ask this because YMMV.Avengers Endgame has an entry that spoils the newest episode of Game of Thrones (I don't watch GoT though, so I don't know how big of a spoiler it is).
openYu-Gi-Oh! GX Undubbed Season 4 Anime
According to the https://yugioh.fandom.com/wiki/Yu-Gi-Oh!_GX_-_Episode_155 Yu-Gi-Oh! wiki, the reason why there was never a dubbed season 4 was because TV Tokyo and Creator/Konami forced 4Kids Entertainment to abandon GX and focus solely on the untested Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds, and this action left 4Kids very upset. What would we call this? Misblamed because 4Kids always gets the flak for not finishing GX, or The Scapegoat?
Edited by crystalbeach96openWorth fixing?
Every so often, I'll come across a page where nothing is written as a Wiki Word and is instead written with curly brackets. For example, Literature. The Stones Are Hatching. Should I worry about fixing the formatting, or just let it be since the wicks still work? Is there any real benefit to changing it all, or is my effort better spent elsewhere?
open Cowboys bury villains under rosebush Live Action TV
In a town of the old West, two retired outlaws move in. Despite their reputations, they are allowed to stay if they keep the town rosebush alive (the appalling climate of the dry town kills any rosebush brought in). Thus having a home and livelihood, they do their job successfully - by carefully noting no good fellows coming in town, slyly offing them and burying them UNDER said rosebush. Did I imagine this show? I remember seeing it as a kid.
openWMG rules?
I can't find a place where WMG rules are written, and I'm worried about a certain troper. Is it okay to delete WMG replies? Is it okay to change someone's reply/entry to put your own thoughts into it? (I.e. changing someone's addition "It's explained in chapter three" to "It's explained in chapter three, but it's really stupid.")
Edited by iamconstantineopenInfluences Music
How are the "Influences" listed on Music pages determined? Does it have to be an artist the creator has specifically stated to have influenced them to be listed?
openCreator / Work Page Confusion Web Original
The page WebVideo.Loading Ready Live currently acts as a collective works page for the shows that LoadingReadyRun streams on their Twitch channel. The problem is that "LoadingReadyLive" is no longer the name of their Twitch channel, and it hasn't been for quite some time, it's now the name of a specific show.
So what should be done with this page? I see two possible options:
- Rename the page "LoadingReadyRun Streams" and leave everything else the same.
- Overhaul the page to focus exclusively on the "LoadingReadyLIVE" show and move everything else over to WebVideo.Loading Ready Run.
There's also the issue that "LoadingReadyRun" is both the name of the group itself and also the name of their (pre-recorded) comedy sketches. Should we have WebVideo.Loading Ready Run focus just on the sketches and move everything else over to Creator.Loading Ready Run? Or should we make WebVideo.Loading Ready Run Sketches? Or is this one not that big of a deal?
openOfficial English names for manga/anime Anime
Hello all,
I know that this site has a general policy of preferring the most recently-used official English localization for foreign works.
In the case of the anime/manga One Piece, there is more than one official English version for certain words and phrases. For example, the VIZ manga uses the term "Navy", while the Funimation dubs/subs uses the term "Marines". There are more examples, but this is one of the most prominent ones. They're both technically the most recent official English translations, except one is for the manga (VIZ) and the other is the anime adaptation (Funimation).
In cases like these, which version is given precedence, the manga (VIZ) or the anime (Funimation)?
Edited by DeeeFooopenWhere to put this?
I'm going to be crosswicking for Literature.Power pretty soon and I'm not sure where to put this example:
- Panthera Awesome: The panther is incredibly important to the people in the story, especially the Taiga Clan, who consider the panther to be their older sister and revere it. Omishto is fascinated when she sees one, describing it as beautiful and calm, even while being hunted. Interestingly, the panther discussed is described as golden, making it more likely a puma.
The Panthera Awesome page is soft-split between different cats, and while there is a puma section, the book only ever refers to it as a Panther, but since it isn't a Black Panther it can't go there, either. Do I just put it into "General"?
Edited by WarJay77openAnother Indentation Confirmation
Once again, I need another Indentation clarification via the Opera Omnia page. This time I'll be using both Ace and Noctis' folders:
Example on Noctis' folder:
- Evolving Attack: Death Drop (Shift Raid in Japanese) turns into Warp Strike (Shift Break in Japanese) if he has his 35CP passive equipped. On top of that, his abilities turn into plus versions if he hits a broken enemy and/or breaks an enemy with a single ability cast.
- Also doubles with his eventual rework, where he'll use a version of his Death Drop/Warp Strike as a followup during enhanced versions of his HP Attack and Shooting Star, even for the Death Drop/Warp Strike itself where the animation is mainly him doing the ability twice in a row. This only occurs if the target he strikes has the unique-framed-debuff "Point-Blank-Warp" landed on them.
Example on Ace's folder:
- Cards of Power: In addition to using them as physical weapons, Ace uses cards to empower himself, shown as floating cards above his head. Once he reaches three cards, his attacks evolve and become much more powerful, akin to his gimmick in NT. However, outside of his extend passives and later quality of life patch buffs, his cards will disappear whenever he uses up any Mega ability, making him need to set them up again.
- A recent quality of life upon his awakening has allowed each card stack to give him a 5%/10%/20% max BRV increase (along with hitting a broken target or breaking a target's BRV will keep his card stacks at max while depleting one card instead of all 3 at once), while his reworked Level 70 version gives him a unique framed buff called "Ruburm's Trump Card" (Suzaku no Kirifuda/Vermilion Sparrow's Trump Card in Japanese) that gives even more benefits to himself (increased Max BRV + Attack that stacks with other buffs) and his abilities.
Are these examples correct use of indentation, or do they need fixing? If they need fixing, please tell me the best way to do so before I go to appeal my suspension.
openFat Shaming? Western Animation
The Great Hydra has written four entries for the Amythst/Steven fusion all relvoling around fat tropes which wouldn't be a big deal if those entries weren't written so insulting. I deleted their first three entries only for thirty minutes later, they put another entry (a zero context one too might I add) without even noticing my edit reason for pulling the first three. I don't want to jump to conclusions but I do feel like they might be trolling at least this page. These are their entries.
- Fat Bastard: Their first act upon being born is to beat the living crap out of Jasper, who admittedly deserved it, but the amount of perverse glee they take in doing it cements them into this trope.
- Fat Idiot: The combined intelligence of Steven Universe and Amethyst stuffed into a body three times their width that could be mistaken for a giant milk dud. Need we say more?
- You Are Fat: As part of their self given The Reason You Suck speech in "Know Your Fusion".
- Fat Slob: Natch.
openLackluster trope description
Pædo Hunt's (I don't even know how I got there) description consists of one paragraph, which does a poor job of explaining what the trope is about. (child molester bad guy?; whipping up a mob to hunt the child molester?)
The PlayingWith.Paedo Hunt is far more explanatory but not a part of the trope's description.
Should this get a bit more fleshed out?
