Request to restore on grounds: i don't feel this is a hentai, it's an R-rated yuri romance. We have pages for works that are more graphic than this and it has more story than sex

edit: the original cut reason just says "its a hentai", so i don't have much to work with there, but i skimmed the first 10 chapters and it definitely isnt primarily porn. there's a few brief sex scenes, mostly one or two panels each, and a decent amount of nudity and fanservice. Most chapters don't have any sex scenes.

Opening.

I've scrolled through the 94 chapters. It's definitely not hentai, it's another Gayngst drama with a high school actor being unsure if she likes the manager she's sleeping with more than her classmate. Sex is fairly uncommon and has never been graphic, though Chizuru does appear nude a lot.

What is sus is the second protagonist Azumi, who is repeatedly mistaken for a grade schooler. Ironically, despite being the main character of a Yuri series, the total amount of panels with her top nudity throughout the entire story can be counted on a hand, and I guess makes sense in context, so I doubt it's enough as pandering.

Also of note there's a Dirty Kid who made Chizuru he "lover for a day" and argues it means they need to sex before the day is over, but he's kinda stupid and just falls asleep before it goes anywhere.

This was previously appealed to the 5P panel and kept cut with the following rationale: "pedophile pandering, keep cut" and the previous discussions are linked here.

I'll read the "the shotacon scene" in detail then. Chapters 57-60

• Chiziru is in another town but can't find a place to stay because her old acquaintance has apparently moved. Getting a bit desperate, a Tabata (6th grade) overhears her and offers her to stay a night because his parents aren't there, but she has to be his girlfriend for a day, which she agrees to.
• Tabata insists that they should bathe together, which she bluntly says no and goes alone despite the agreement. He confesses that she wanted to see her breasts, arguing she looks like a Lupin III character and his mom, and she punches him.
• Tabata offers sex because to him, it's what lovers do. She again tells him to piss off and goes to sleep. He throws a fit, and she says she'll consider if he wins at arm wrestling. She cheats and handcuffs him in his room so he'll stop bothering her.
• The two have a shared bath, Tabata's eyes a tuct taped so he wouldn't see anything. When she washes him, her face suddenly gets sprayed (??) and she punches him. She later pranks him back saying that his penis has herpes and will fall off. Chiziru wakes up handcuffed. Tabata checked with a medical book what ejaculation means and forces her to keep her promise, which she reminds him is a crime. He shoves his face in her breasts and suddenly falls asleep, so nothing happens.
• On the morning Chiziru gives him some advice and leaves.

It is on edge. Technically, the kid isn't seen naked and did not have real sexual interactions. Chiziru is completely against him, nor is he portrayed sympathetically. We probably have more blatant works that have a topic of going through puberty.

The verdict on Hen was actually to restore it, per tdgoodrich1, but no action was taken, so given that and the above, I think a restore is in order.

I vote restore. Chizuru is clearly intended to be pretty messed-up in the head: she's a Maneater who weaponized her sexuality but has suddenly developed a crush on a girl and has no idea how to act towards someone she has actual feelings for. Her being canonically 15 is a little eyebrow-raising, but, frankly, I've made pages for works that are more explicit than this.

ETA: To make clear, I've read up through chapter 42 in the scanlation so far.

Chizuru Yoshida is a high-school girl with improbably large bosoms and a very active, very heterosexual sex life. However when a new student, Azumi Yamada, awakens some unfamiliar feelings in Chizuru's heart, our heroine is forced to reconsider her sexuality.

Hen was created by Hiroya Oku, better known as the mangaka of Gantz. It was adapted into a live-action drama in 1996, and also into a 2-episode OVA in 1997. The OVA was released by Central Park Media under the title Strange Love.

• Alpha Bitch: Chizuru at the start of the story in particular. She's popular, hot, and unconcerned with the feelings of people other than herself.
• Anguished Declaration of Love: Chizuru to Azumi. Also, Azumi and Ryuichi give each other simultaneous declarations.

• Betty and Veronica: Azumi and Chizuru are this to Ryuichi. Subverted when the Betty and the Veronica end up with each other rather than the guy.
• Brother–Sister Incest: Suzuki and Saena are sleeping together.

• Closet Key: Azumi is the first girl Chizuru has ever been attracted to, much to Chizuru's confusion.
• Date Rape Averted: Sugita's brother nearly rapes Chizuru when she's drugged unconscious, but he's foiled when she wakes up in the nick of time because she smells Azumi's perfume on the floor above.
• Distracted by the Sexy: Chizuru's huge tracts of land frequently have this effect on the male characters.

• Double Standard Rape: Female on Male: Played quite straight when Chizuru gets Ryuichi drunk and rapes him while he's passed out. This isn't treated as a horrible event.

• Ecchi: Lots and lots of nudity and fanservice, mostly of Chizuru, but never gets very graphic.
• Erotic Dream: Chizuru has some extremely Freudian, extremely disturbing ones about Azumi. Azumi later has some much less disturbing ones about Chizuru.
• Erotic Eating: Sato eats a popsicle this way.
• Even the Girls Want Her: Azumi. Chizuru falls in love with her and is more than willing to make an exception for her despite being straight.
• Femme Fatale: Chizuru takes advantage of her sexuality to manipulate men,
• Gainaxing: It's a manga, and yet the female characters still manage quite a lot of bouncing.
• Girl on Girl Is Hot: When Ryuichi's film script is reworked to include a kiss between Chizuru and Azumi, the drama club boys heartily approve.
• Girls' Love: Sort of. It has a lot more heterosexual sex scenes than your average Girls' Love manga.
• Gonk: Oku and the 11-year-old boy are both illustrated as extremely weird-looking with ugly faces.

• If It's You, It's Okay: Azumi is the only girl that Chizuru is attracted to.

• Ladykiller in Love: Chizuru is a gender-inverted example— she's a Maneater who doesn't know what to do when she develops real feelings for a classmate.
• Lovable Alpha Bitch: Chizuru, initially quite a jerk, leans more into this soon after she stops trying to deny her feelings for Azumi, and by the end of the manga almost all of her more loathsome qualities have almost entirely faded.
• Love Triangle: Between Chizuru, Azumi, and Ryuichi. Later it expands into a Love Dodecahedron involving Azumi, Chizuru, Suzuki, Sato, Azumi's school friend, Suzuki's sister, and Oku.
• Marshmallow Hell: Again, Chizuru is usually the one providing the, er, marshmallows.

• Ms. Fanservice: Chizuru is a constant focus of the camera and wears skimpy clothing all the time.

• No Bisexuals: Chizuru gets confused because on the one hand, she loves Azumi (so she must be a lesbian), but on the other hand, she likes having sex with boys (so she must be straight). It never occurs to her that she might be bisexual.
• Nobody Poops: Averted; there are a couple of scenes showing Chizuru on the toilet.
• Noodle People: The characters all have long, spindly limbs and thin bodies.
• Nosebleed: Chizuru has one after she sees Azumi naked.
• One Head Taller: Chizuru stands about a head taller than Azumi

• Really Gets Around: Chizuru has a lot of sex with men and doesn't take it very seriously.
• Red String of Fate: Referenced In-Universe in the plot of Ryuichi's movie.

• Skinship Grope: Chizuru is a frequent target. She herself does it to Azumi and Saena.

Interesting, I just discovered while doing some indexing that we also have a separate page for the OVA under its English title Strange Love.

Well, in that case, should we redirect Hen to Strange Love, since we have an official English title for it?

I say merge the contents of one page into the other. If the Anime page is merged into the Manga page, the latter page should be renamed to the English title.

I'm actually against merging them without further examination of how much in common they have. Strange Love only covers the Chizuru x Azumi story arc, which is only the second half of Hen. There's a lesser-known Yaoi Genre portion of the story that we haven't previously covered (I just added a Sequel Displacement entry for it on Hen's YMMV tab).

Regarding the name, I think we can keep Hen, but we should consider if we should keep Strange Love as a page if it's a partial adaptation.

The Strange Love page is actually in much better shape than Hen, so I think I'd only consider merging them if someone's willing to read it and see how much of the material that's in the OVA is also in the manga.

Hen could also stand to have a less fanservicey image, but IP's currently full.
