This is a skit of many video game characters all living under one roof! AKA The VIDEO GAME HOUSE!

Video Game House is a Web Series made by the Youtube Group RDCworld1, filmed as a Parody Reality TV of the life of video game characters if they lived together in the same house, giving plenty of hilarious and dramatic moments throughout.

So far, six episodes have been released in the series.

Tropes in the series include:

  • Aborted Arc: The Stinger at the end of the second episode shows Mario and Luigi showing up at Daisy's house, looking for Peach. However, this preview wasn't followed up on in any other episode.
  • Adaptational Dye-Job: Tifa, who appears in the fifth episode briefly to give Sora a custom Keyblade for his Smash Bros. party, has blonde hair compared to her canon counterpart's brown or black hair.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Several of the characters end up becoming this, mostly for the sake of comedy. Notable examples include:
    • Mario and Luigi are VERY prone to violence over a simple altercation. Such as when Mario declared he and Luigi would jump anyone in the house over having his gloves stolen, and when the two jumped and beat up a pizza delivery guy who forgot to give them mushrooms on their pizza. Link sums it up best in the third episode.
Link: Man, I feel like we can never go out and have fun with the Mario Bros. I feel like anything ya say can set em off at any moment. Like anything.
    • Master Chief, who's very unafraid of just shooting someone should they piss him off sufficiently such as the Mario Bros.
    • Sora ends up becoming this after the release of Kingdom Hearts III, becoming a lot more egotistical than his kind-hearted canon counterpart.
  • Always Someone Better: Sonic, who serves as The Rival for Mario, is pretty much this as any of Mario's attempts to jump him usually just result in Sonic evading it, even when he tried to have Luigi sneak him during a mediation session. And overall, he's just a living Berserk Button to Mario.
  • Berserk Button: Do NOT mention or hang out with Peach around Mario. Things get ugly, as Master Chief unfortunately found out in the first episode. And later on in the fourth episode, Sonic proceeds to straight up HAMMER this by constantly bringing up an incident where he and Tails hung out with Peach and Daisy.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": Courtesy of Mario in Video Game House 2, right before he and Luigi deliver a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown on Master Chief for the latter shooting them both.
Mario: (Punching Chief across the face) Shut the fuck up, Chief! This isn't Halo, you forgot we had the things, huh?!
  • Butt-Monkey: Usually, the portrayal of some of the characters here can become this:
    • Master Chief usually ends up being jumped or verbally roasted by Mario and Luigi throughout the series, and apparently is a No-Respect Guy to the point he has to pay Raid: Shadow Legends to sponsor Halo Infinite for money.
    • Sora is one, usually on the receiving end of a verbal roast from the others, and being on the wrong end of one of Mario's beatdowns in the fourth episode.
    • Mario, despite being an Adaptational Jerkass, usually ends up getting these as well, as he got shot by Master Chief in the second episode, as revenge for him and Luigi jumping him in the first episode, got jumped by Wario and Waluigi in the bathroom, and got shot by a cop who assumed he had a weapon in the third episode.
  • Call-Back: In the sixth episode after he and Luigi returned from the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Mario says the exact same first line he said in the first episode to announce his and Luigi's entrance:
Mario: Now that we're here, all the irrelevant characters, leave the room~!
  • Cliffhanger: The fifth episode ends on Sonic and Tails inviting Knuckles over to the Video Game House with the latter beating up Luigi at Tails' command, with the trio intent on making the Mario Bros.' lives a living hell for trying to screw with Sonic.
    • The sixth episode ends with Team Sonic wiping out Mario at the Super Guest House, with Shadow shooting Luigi, Peach, and Mario himself (Along with the Rainbow Six representative) in his hunt for Donkey Kong as he and Team Sonic flee the scene, the episode ending right there, The Stinger aside.
  • Cranky Landlord: Steve, who's revealed to have built the Video Game House in Episode 6, basically acts as the landlord, and doesn't take falling short on rent lightly. If anyone comes up short on payment, even a little, he's immediately liquidating an asset in the house (As in mining it with his pickaxe) unless someone else pays more to make up for it.
Pac-Man: And boy I tell you, I ain't never seen no landlord like Steve. Ain't no talking, ain't no second chances, that boi gonna get his paper.
(End of interview, cut to Steve on his way to enter the house)
Pac-Man: OH SHIT, AYO Steve here man, y'all know how he gets when the rent's due! (Cue everyone in the room scrambling either to flee or grab money for Steve)
  • Crossover: The sixth episode has Vegeta and Frieza from Anime House, along with Cell, show up to represent Dragon Ball Fighter Z and to simply show off their power to all the fighting game characters, in particular Sub-Zero who's immediately jumped by the trio.
  • Culture Clash: Due to the various differing natures of every video game, expect this to come into play. Examples include Link smashing a pot that Kairi gave Sora, CJ's typical Grand Theft Auto criminal actions (Such as stealing a much better car) unnerving Master Chief, or Ezio assassinating someone instantly startling Sora, Link, and Master Chief. And in particular in the fourth episode, Sub-Zero and Scorpion trying to kill each other is immediately met with startled horror from the other house members who try to stop the fight, but to no avail as Scorpion kills Sub-Zero with a Fatality.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Thanks to Mortal Kombat 1 introducing tag-team attacks with the new Kameos, both Ryu and Balrog as well as Kazuya and Jin stand no chance against Sub-Zero with Scorpion as his Kameo assist, with poor Kazuya unable to tag in (or rather switch in) Jin thanks to how Tekken Tag Tournament's mechanics work, even going to the Z-axis to take advantage of his own mechanics don't work as Scorpion just blindsides him there. And then Frieza, Vegeta, and Cell show up representing Dragon Ball Fighter Z, instantly curbstomping Sub-Zero thanks to their game's massively faster-paced action letting them basically blitz and jump the ninja.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Not so much as evil as more Adaptational Jerkass Anti-Hero, but Mario and Luigi are quick to show sympathy for a pair of Heartless who were rejected from Sora's Smash Bros. party, noting that even they would invite minor enemies like Koopas and such to their own party... And then the Heartless are quick to jump to Mario's joke suggestion of calling the cops on Sora's party with the Bros. quickly disapproving of it. Though the Bros. don't care that much to stop them.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite having been salty after being subjected to a Curb-Stomp Battle from Subzero and Scorpion, Ryu, Balrog, Kazuya, and Jin are all more concerned than satisfied when they see Frieza, Vegeta, and Cell all jumping Subzero in their fight with Ryu noting in concern that Subzero can't even get up from triple Beam Spam the trio are performing.
  • Fantastic Racism: In the sixth episode, after the fighting game characters had a sudden encounter with Frieza, Vegeta, and Cell, Ryu notes in an interview he's not a fan of characters who didn't originate from video games living in the house through a Licensed Game, calling out the anime characters as well as Miles Morales who was just walking about the house.
  • Flashback Cut: In the sixth episode, Knuckles punches Mario so hard with a single punch, the plumber flashes back to every time in the past episodes that he and Luigi hit someone else.
  • Gory Discretion Shot: In Video Game House 4, out of annoyance with Luigi, Scorpion swings his sword directly at him. The screen quickly cuts to the Game Over screen of the Mario games before the killing blow can be shown.
  • Gunpoint Banter: Master Chief, Ghost, Phoenix, along with representatives of Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends, and Battlefield all get into one simultaneously in the sixth episode while arguing which game is the best first-person shooter, pointing their guns at a single person when they're put on the spot. The only thing to break them up is a player from Fortnite (A third-person shooter) coming in to try to proclaim their game is the best, which in response causes all six people to gun him down and leave.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Downplayed. When Ghost suddenly drops into the house seeming to be dropping an airstrike on the place, CJ tells everyone to run while he attempts to threaten the Call of Duty character into standing down, proclaiming he'll just respawn at the hospital if he dies. Subverted when Ghost pulls back and doesn't bomb the Video Game House, claiming it was just a joke, much to CJ's disbelief.
  • Leitmotif: An instrumental of Knuck If You Buck by Crime Mob tends to play whenever the Mario Bros are doing their thing, usually flaunting off to others or jumping people.
  • Malicious Misnaming: Master Chief, after being attacked by the Mario Bros. in the first episode, proceeds to usually call them the "Mario Hoes" whenever he talks about them on a few occasions.
  • My Name Is Not Shazam: In-Universe example as a few characters tend to get called by their game's name, such as Mario simply calling Phoenix Valorant, referring to a Fortnite character simply as such, or Rainbow Six Siege's representative being called by their game's title.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: Shadow the Hedgehog in the sixth episode, as in comparison to Team Sonic who are usually laid back (At least until the Mario Bros. finally get under their skin), Shadow's always ready to shoot someone to death on the spot with Luigi, Rainbow Six Siege's representative, Peach, and ultimately Mario being shot down by him in the sixth episode's ending. He even shoots Tails (Albeit non-lethally thanks to his rings), irritated by the fox being so soft in response to him shooting Peach.
Shadow: (After scaring everyone off with a "Shut Up!" Gunshot) Yeaaah. Yeah y'all bitch-ass niggas better run. Cause I ain't come here to play, I only came to shoot niggas! Rainbow Six out front, dead! Luigi out front, dead, caught him lacking!
  • Noodle Incident: Apparently, Sonic had hung out with Peach and Daisy prior to the series, an incident that SEVERELY pissed Mario off to the point where Sonic repeatedly bringing it up led to the plumber attempting but failing to deliver a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown on Sonic.
  • Not So Above It All: Upon seeing Mario's sheer outrage over his gloves being stolen in the first episode, everyone else bursts into laughter once the Mario Bros. leave, including Ezio.
  • Oh, Crap!: In the fourth episode, while he doesn't initially say anything, after running down the stairs to see what's going on, Mario's face SCREAMS this as he realizes Sonic's moving into the Video Game House.
    • In the sixth episode, as Mario prepares to confront Knuckles for beating up Luigi, a simple "What, nigga?!" from a weight-lifting Knuckles is enough to make Mario falter in his anger. And then Knuckles punches Mario so hard, he ends up flashing back to all the times he and Luigi jumped everyone. Reasonably, Mario is extremely startled in his daze before he tries (and fails) to box up Knuckles again.
  • Out of Focus: Both Sora and Ezio, who were prominent characters in the early episodes, end up being slowly reduced in importance as the show goes on, with Ezio not even showing up in later episodes.
  • Police Brutality: Mario and Luigi are subject to this in the third episode as a cop pulls them over while they're on their way to a Mario Kart race. While talking to the cop, Mario confesses that while he and Luigi have no guns, they have a banana in the car, which the cop treats as a lethal weapon... Which eventually culminates in the cop shooting Mario to death when he tries to reach for a banana license. Thankfully Video-Game Lives are in play for Mario, who retaliates alongside Luigi by delivering one of their typical No-Holds-Barred Beatdown on the officer.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: From Mario, usually right before he and Luigi jump or sneak someone:
    Mario: Here we go!
  • Rage Breaking Point: In Episode 6, while Sonic's searching for Donkey Kong in the Super Guest House, he runs into Amy, who Mario persuaded to go to the Super Guest House along with various other video game girlfriends of the guests he invited. This drives Sonic to snap and immediately jump Mario.
  • Rewarding Vandalism: Parodied in the first episode, as Link walks into a room and suddenly throws a vase against the wall, much to Sora's irritation since Kairi gave him the vase... Only for Link to be put on the receiving end of this right after as he goes outside, only to see Ryu destroying his car in the style of a Street Fighter Bonus Stage.
  • Say My Name: In the sixth episode, Mario screams out Peach's name when Shadow shoots her while he's interrogating the plumber.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: A few of these happen throughout the series, usually as an Oh, Crap! response:
    • Link, Sora, and Master Chief pull one of these in response to seeing Ezio assassinate someone while eavesdropping on the lattermost.
    • In the second episode, Link is QUICK to flee upon seeing Master Chief pull up a gun on Mario. Ezio meanwhile just silently walks out of the room.
Master Chief: (Aiming a gun at Mario) Man, shut the fuck up, Mario!
Link: (Quickly running out of the room) Oh hell no...!
    • In the sixth episode, whenever Shadow shows up with his gun, expect everyone to flee.
  • "Shut Up!" Gunshot: Whenever one of these is fired, it's usually an indicator Shadow's in the area for business, and that everybody best get to fleeing.
  • The Stinger: At the end of Episode 6, we cut back to the house, seeing a Rockstar Games Employee talking to the three representatives of Grand Theft Auto with an important announcement about the sixth game... "that was the announcement" as he immediately runs out of the room, much to the trio's confusion and disappointment.
  • Summon Bigger Fish: In the sixth episode, in response to Sonic and Tails having Knuckles beat up Luigi, as well as Knuckles beating up Mario when confronted about it, the Mario Bros. decide to call up Donkey Kong to beat up Knuckles, which works out pretty well... And then Team Sonic one-ups them as Shadow pulls up into the house with a gun, immediately making the Mario crew stand down. Though if all the videos he posts are any indication, Donkey Kong only cares that he put Knuckles to shame.
  • Take That!:
    • A heavy one towards the Sequel Gap for Kingdom Hearts III is made in "Video Game House 2":
Sora: (In response to Link and Master Chief heading off to spy on Ezio) Y'all, alright, I'll go. Lemme just finish my trailer.
Link: Bro, you've been watching that same trailer for 6 years, the game's not coming out, let's go.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Sora ends up taking one of these in the third episode after Kingdom Hearts III released, to the ire of those around him.
  • Uninvited to the Party: A pair of Heartless from Kingdom Hearts are subject to this, being barred from entering a party to celebrate Sora getting into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Their response is to go to Mario and Luigi who show sympathy for the duo, as the former to jokingly suggests calling the cops on the party... Only for the Heartless to immediately accept the suggestion, much to the Bros.' alarm.
  • Video-Game Lives: Mario and Luigi both have these, usually allowing them to come back to life after being killed by someone. Though judging from Mario's dialogue about Luigi's last life after Ezio performs a hit and run on Luigi in the first episode, they do have to restock on these every now and then.
  • Wham Line: While Mario was busy playing ''Super Mario Odyssey" while ranting to himself about Luigi hanging out with Sora more, he, along with us, overhear a familiar line from a familiar rival before seeing him in the living room...
