    Deandra, the New Girl
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/deandra_the_new_girl_7206.jpg

Voiced by: Carlo Moss

The new girl at Overland Park, her only interests seem to be eating, pooping and having a comfortable place to poop in.

  • Action Girl: With her robotic arm, Deandra is not one to be messed with. The crowning moment of this is when she takes on Chloe and Zoe during the fight of "Taken".
  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: Let's just say that the stardom treatment she receives after her musical single is a total hit goes to her head for the duration of late Season 4. Rachel and Judith both lampshade on this and call her out on it.
  • Ambiguously Evil: Aligns herself with both rivaling parties, but likely unintentionally, not with true malice intended. She later aligns herself with the Overland Park cheerleaders against Atchison when they have a common enemy, Tanya Berkowitz.
  • An Arm and a Leg: She has her arms ripped off by the Cheerleaders and the Van Burens.
  • Anything but That!: The best way to torture Deandra? Force her to eat healthy vegan food.
  • The Artifact: Her being the New Girl, especially since months has passed and Trisha 2 later transferred to Overland High.
  • Artificial Limbs: She gets prosthetics in episode 14, one regular and one robotic.
  • Author Avatar: According to Carlo Moss (the creator, writer, and VA of Deandra), "I am Deandra and Deandra is me".
  • Badass in Distress: She along with Brittnay are captured by Team France and forced to eat (healthy food for Deandra's case), and have to be rescued by Saison and Mackenzie.
  • Berserk Button: Lying to her about food and talking about the Atchison Cheer Squad.
  • Beta Bitch:
    • For both the Cheer Squad and the Van Burens in Season 1, joining their respective schemes and saying the things they want to her.
    • After being bribed by Mackenzie in Season 5, she fully play this to a T, happily goes along with Mackenzie in mocking Shay Van Buren, insulting Team France with Brittnay and combating Team France for the kidnapping. She quits being this after the competition is over, stating that Mackenzie owes her for this.
  • Big Damn Heroes: She shows up at Cheer Nationals to help the Overland Park squad beat Atchison after Ashley betrays them, simply because she's tired of Tanya Berkowitz.
  • Big Eater:
    • She chomps away huge meals such as a $57 lunch, and pretty much prefers food over boys.
    • And as Episode 17 shows, do not get between her and her dinner. Don't lie to her about food, either.
    • She brings a shit-load of food with her to France (see her packing list in the MPGiS app).
  • Black-Hole Belly: Holy shit, her stomach does NOT have an end. She constantly empties the Pizza Street buffet, ate FOUR Thanksgiving dinners in one evening, and when she's being held captive by Team France, they complain that she eats all their food (used to torture models) and has to retort to healthy food such as kale salad without dressing to torture her.
  • Brutal Honesty: Often very blunt.
  • Calling Your Bathroom Breaks: Without a hint of shame, at that.
  • Celibate Heroine: Deandra doesn't have any romantic interest towards anyone over the course of the series. Although her reason for it is:
Deandra: I don't know if you noticed, but most guys don't wanna fuck a girl with no arms! And the guys that do, are very. Strange.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Her robot arm is this for some Mackenzie's victories:
    • Season 2: She uses her arm to make a last minute inverted pyramid to help Overland Park Cheer Squad win Cheer Nationals.
    • Season 3: Her robot arm has a voice recorder, which Mackenzie uses it to record Jenna's testimony of burning Atchison mall
    • Season 5: Downplayed, as while her unique arm got Team USA first victory in the modeling competition, at the cost of the team celebrating too hard that caused the others to falter badly.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: Though unintentionally.
  • Cyborg: Lampshaded many times by various characters, due to her robotic arm prosthetic.
  • Dark Secret: Apparently, something happened between Deandra and the Atchison High Cheer Squad that she does not want to talk about. It turns out she used to be the head of the Atchison Cheer Squad before a mixture of a pastrami quesadilla, chili dogs, Code Red Mountain Dew, and unpopped pop rocks caused her to defecate all over her squad, everything within a thirty foot radius, and the city while doing a pyramid. Deandra blames Tanya Berkowitz for it since she gave her the Pop Rocks in the first place, wondering what kind of person just happens to carry Pop Rocks with them.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Quite, though certainly not as much as Bridget.
  • Disability Superpower: Deandra Came Back Strong from having her arms ripped off, as she can apparently afford a robotic prosthetic, which translates to freakish raw strength. It's also modular, and she keeps a Captain's Log with it in her spare time.
  • Disabled Badass: With her robotic prosthetic, Deandra has Super-Strength and is a One-Woman Army on a football field.
  • Disabled Snarker: Just because she got her arms ripped off, doesn't mean she can't dish out some snark.
  • The Ditherer: Often resorts to picking "both".
  • Eating Lunch Alone: Its implied that she does this, but, on a twist of this trope, she and nobody else seems to mind or look down on her in the slightest.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Despite her opportunism, she thinks that joining Mackenzie's Cheer Squad is not worth the full time commitment.
    • In her own words, while she'd have no problem maiming Tanya Berkowitz she would never hurt a fly. Because "a fly is an innocent creature that never knowingly did anything to anyone."
    • Despite being a Big Eater and a bit of an Extreme Omnivore, in Episode 53, even she thought Belinda's organic sweet potato wedges tasted awful.
    • She's disgusted when Cameron Van Buren, in Episode 74, makes a joke about the son from Breaking Bad walking funny because his actor's got cerebral palsy.
  • The Exile: From Atchison High after the incident.
  • Extreme Omnivore: She will eat a taco out of a trashcan, and the nubs on chicken wings (much to the other's disgust). She's also made some crazy combinations that did not end well.
  • Fallen Princess: A high school variant. Deandra was once the head cheerleader of Atchinson High, and therefore, one of the most (if not THE most) popular girls in her school. After the incident where she defecated all over her squad, she was stripped of her popularity and essentially forced into exile, which is when she transferred to Overland Park.
  • False Friend: To everyone.
  • Fatal Flaw: Gluttony and playing all sides to satisfy it.
  • Food as Bribe: A common victim to this trope, considering her enormous appetite.
  • Freudian Excuse:
    • Her determination to find a comfortable place to poop in stems from the horrific incident where she had a bout of Irritable Bowel Syndrome and crapped all over her squad during a pyramid demonstration back at Atchison.
    • Related to the above, she's defined by her utter refusal to choose sides or become exclusive friends with either the cheerleaders or the Van Burens. When they need her help, she makes it clear she wants something in return. This causes no shortage of trouble, especially in the first season, but it's pretty understandable when you realize that the last person she became close to and helped with no expectation of being repaid was Tanya Berkowitz.
  • Friend to Bugs: When Tanya claims Deandra "wouldn't hurt a fly," she actually agrees, because a fly never intentionally brought harm to anyone. Tanya, on the other hand...
  • Genre Savvy: She knows how high school cheerleading hierarchy works due to being the former head cheerleader at Atchison.
  • Hidden Depths: She's a registered midwife.
  • His Name Really Is "Barkeep":
    • At prom, she is literally announced as "Deandra The New Girl".
    • One could argue that she has another surname, which must be hard to pronounce, as Mr. Mack can't say it.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: During her time in quarantine, she posts a video lambasting everyone for not preparing by revealing the many containers of food she keeps in her room, including a freezer under her bed and a microwave. This being Deandra, she polishes off everything within two days and runs out of toilet paper.
  • Hyperactive Metabolism: She eats enough to feed a family in the meals she mentions, but still wears a size zero dress.
  • Improbable Food Budget: Has no problem with buying the sheer amount of food that she eats on a regular basis. To be fair though, she does often try to go for discounts.
  • It's All About Me: In Season 4, where she acts like a smug diva over her musical single, she throws tantrums when things doesn't go her way.
  • Kick the Dog:
    • She's less tolerant towards Mikayla Van Buren than her bitchier classmates, out of her thinking that Mikayla is a Gremlin due to her disconcerting smarts. She even throws a glass of water at her at some point!
    • In Season 4, she literally treats Rachel and Judith like shit when she acts like a diva over her musical single.
    • Season 5, despite being her friend she happily joins Mackenzie & Brittnay in laughing at Shay for making Shay thinks they are asking her to compete in an international modeling competition. To her credit, Shay was one of the girls who had ripped her arms off, but still...
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Deandra is ready for Round 2 on her fight against Team France, only to surrender when Juliette comes back with a firearm.
"You bitches are dead!" [sees Juliette has a gun] "Or you know, how about we call it even?"
  • The Lad-ette: Rough, gluttonous, somewhat gross, and chooses to drink beer at a party in Episode 76.
  • Laser-Guided Karma:
    • Getting her arms ripped off due to playing both sides, if you see her as a bitch.
    • Also, having her singing career go down the drain when she lets the mistreated Judith and Rachel leave the band. Deandra had let the stardom go way to her head...
  • Limited Wardrobe: She always wears the same dress. At prom...
Shay: Can I just say, um, I love your dress.
Deandra: It's the exact same dress I've been wearing every day at school.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: A flashback to her time at Atchison shows that, even when she was the most popular girl there, she was still fairly nice, and genuinely cared about her teammates. She even took newcomer Tanya Berkowitz under her wing and taught her how to become a better cheerleader. For all the good that wound up doing her.
  • Made of Plasticine: Let's face it, the worst thing that could happen to someone when their arms are being tugged by a bunch of people on each side, is the shoulder bones to be dislocated. Instead, she gets her fucking arms ripped off.
  • Morality Pet: She's Shay's, and the Cheer Squad's to a lesser extent. Despite their bitchiness, none of them hold any real ill will towards her, and seem to consider her a friend in spite of everything.
  • Never Heard That One Before: Her answer to Tanya's "Fullmetal Alchemist convention" joke.
  • Nobody Poops: She's the living personification of this trope averted, because half of her screentime is about her pooping, going to poop somewhere, or wanting to poop somewhere. She even sings a fucking song about poop!
  • Non-Standard Character Design: As one of the three characters who debuted in the first episode, she's a knockoff doll from the dollar store instead of a Barbie or Disney Princess. Unlike Mackenzie and Trisha, she's kept her original body, making her unusually short-necked.
  • Not So Above It All: About the importance of prom.
  • Obsessed with Food: No kidding. Deandra has the appetite of an elephant, and if you want her on your side, promise her some food and you'll be good.
  • One of the Boys: In Season 3 when she joins the football team. The boys accept her as one of their own and never mind her being a girl at all.
  • One-Woman Army: Thanks to her robotic arm, Deandra has superhuman strength, and whoever dare stands in her way gets out of it real quick.
  • Only One Name: "The New Girl" is what usually follows her given name, with no clue of what her surname might be.
  • Only Sane Woman: Despite her urges and anger issues, she's one of the sanest when it comes the social aspects of the plot.
  • Opportunistic Bitch: With enough food, she's willing to join anybody. The apex of this is joining no less than 3 Thanksgiving (The Van Burens, The Zales and The Tice) dinners after her own.
  • Passionate Sports Girl: Downplayed. Although she did join the football team for the only reason that she had free food on each Friday at Pizza Street, she grew to love the sport and being part of the team, and especially loves kicking some ass on the field.
  • Pet the Dog: She earnestly tried to get Atchison to stop antagonizing the Overland Park cheer squad by pointing out what happened to her, but later decided to help the Overland Park squad because she was tired of Tanya pushing her around.
  • Playing Both Sides: In Season 1, she takes advantage of the rivalry between the Van Burens and the Cheer Squad to have food and bathroom privileges while watching their feuds go down. It bites her in the ass later when it costs her both of her arms.
  • The Pollyanna: Despite being quite snarky, she still manages to stay positive and find a bright side of everything from losing her popularity, to transferring schools, to having her arms ripped off. Basically, as far as she's concerned, if she has access to food, there's a bright side.
  • Pre Ass Kicking One Liner: Is fond of those in Episode 81:
    "Let's Dance, frogs!"
[after Zoe hits her in the head] "You done fucked up now, bitch!"
  • Pretty in Mink: When she becomes a diva after her musical single becomes a hit, Deandra wears a white fur coat to enhance that status.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: Is the first to ask if the girls talk about anything besides revenge.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: She does wear a white gown to school everyday. In Season 5, she gets upgraded with a haute couture red and black dress, and she looks gorgeous in it.
  • Sixth Ranger: When she joins the Overland Park squad during Cheer Nationals. She later joins the football team in the third season because of her robot arm.
  • The Smurfette Principle: In the third season, she joins the Overland Park football team. The team don't care that she's the only girl because she has the right amount of strength they need. Though it's implied she quits when Season 4 starts.
  • The Social Expert: Due to her experience in her former school, she is very good at maintaining a neutral relationship with any group she is willing to commit. This makes her the only person that the Overland Park Cheer Squad doesn't completely hate and is not included in Shay's drunken rant.
  • Speech Impediment: Has a lisp and a slight case of Elmuh Fudd Syndwome. From Season 2 onward, however, she overcame this.
  • Super-Strength: Thanks to her robotic arm, Deandra can lift bleachers and throw people like rag dolls.
  • Team Primadonna: In Season 4, after Jenna makes her record songs with Rachel and Judith (as Deandra The New Girl ft. Daft Poop), she lets her fame get to her head and bosses everyone around, acting like a total diva. It ends with Rachel and Judith having enough of her, and people throwing food at Deandra because they preferred the beats to her voice.
  • Toilet Humor: Gosh, her first episode ends with her pooping in the girls' toilets rather... loudly, while sobbing. Her wanting to find a place to poop is sort of a Running Gag. Then we learn it's because back when she was in Atchison High's Cheer Squad, she defecated all over her squad and the humiliation afterwards caused her to move into Overland High and thus always find a bathroom nearby so it never happens again.
  • Tomboy: Compared to most of the girls in the series.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: Her main hairstyle.
  • Tomboyish Voice: Helps that she's voiced by a man.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: She's more masculine than most girls in the series, yet she always wear her iconic white dress everyday.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: In Season 4, she lets her fame of her musical single get to her head and treats everyone around her (mostly Rachel and Judith) like slaves. It gets zig-zagged as of Season 5, where while Deandra is still a likeable source of comedy, she still has some Kick the Dog moments (as stated above).
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Associated with Junk Food in general, such as pizza, chicken wings, and tacos. She especially loves to go eat from the buffet at Pizza Street.
  • True Neutral:
    • invoked She is a member of the cheerleaders and the Van Burens because she does not actually care about anything and just gets caught up in everyone's schemes.
    • In season three, she refuses to join the cheer squad, citing that she's well aware at this point of how the squad keeps getting involved in stupid squabbles and she wants no part in it.
  • We Used to Be Friends: With Tanya.
  • Verbal Tic: Played for Laughs; she sobs each time she has a #2 on the throne.
  • Wild Card: Depends on the best deal, Deandra consistently flips to the best side (Cheer Squad, the van Burens and football team). To her credit, she is willing to put in the effort to help them as long as the deal is good.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit:
    • Invoked in Prom Night, as she expected to win by pity vote due to losing both of her arms. She placed second runner up.
    • After Prom Night, she mentions her ripped-off arms from time to time in front of both the Overland Cheer Squad and Shay, either to vent or making them feel guilty.

    Saison Margeurite

How do you say.. menage à trois?

Voiced by: Andrew Delman

An exchange student who is either from France or Montreal, and a source of annoyance to both Brittnay Matthews and Lunch Lady Belinda.

  • As Long as It Sounds Foreign: Downplayed, as Saison's name is French (it means "season"), but it's actually far from being a given name and was probably picked as her name because it sounds good to the ear.
  • Big Damn Heroes: She quickly comes to Brittnay's and Deandra's rescue by getting Mackenzie in Episode 81. And later getting Liam Neeson to save Brittnay and the rest from Team France.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She's been lying about her nationality and trolling Brittnay using Obfuscating Stupidity apparently just to drive her nuts. That said, Episode 80 shows that Saison genuinely cares for her when she sees her and Deandra trapped by Team France, and quickly goes to get help from Mackenzie.
  • Catchphrase: "How you say... [word she clearly knows how to say]?" It drives Brittnay insane.
  • Characterization Marches On: The first few episodes showed her having a quite bit of a malicious streak, such as outright insulting Brittnay (her handjobs, to be specific). Later on in the show, however, she evolved into a mere Ditz completely oblivious to Brittnay's bad side.
  • Consummate Liar / Determinator: Everyone believes that she's French. She keeps up her facade even with the stress of bullets being fired at her and through the act of giving birth. This chick breaks character for nothing and no one, except her parents.
  • Fake Nationality: In-Universe, if she is indeed Canadian. Although the doll that is used for her, a Disney Princess Belle doll, is based on a character that is from France. As the fifth season reveals, she is very much faking her nationality.
  • Forgot Flanders Could Do That: Her bitchy self from her debut, Episode 2, returns at the very end of Episode 79.
  • Funny Foreigner: A French (actually Quebecer) exchange student and she's a source of a lot of humor in the show (especially when it comes to pissing off Brittnay).
  • The Gadfly: With The Reveal of her being Canadian after all, all of her past interactions with Brittnay showcases that she enjoys pissing her off to get her reactions.
  • Good Parents: To her daughter.
  • Gratuitous French: She just pronounces everything with a French-ish lisp and asks "How do you say?" before a lot of words.
  • It Amused Me: Why she pretends to be from France and not know English: she enjoys riling up Brittnay.
  • Maternity Crisis: Her water breaks in the cafeteria and Deandra has to deliver her baby on a table, while only having towels dipped in clam chowder from Lunch Lady Belinda's kitchen. Hilarity Ensues.
  • Morality Pet: To Shay.
  • Morning Sickness: In Episode 45.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Just look at her clothes. She also has a lot of nip slips during her appearances (thanks to her extremely short crop top) that no one seems to pay attention to.
  • National Stereotypes: A french girl wearing a red beret, stripped shirt, and loves to eat baguettes, croissants and crepes. Although she does the stereotype on purpose as she's actually from Montreal.
  • No Dress Code: She wears an underboobs crop top and skirt at school, which of course wouldn't be allowed in a real life high school. No one seems to mind, though.
  • Oblivious to Hatred: She sees Brittnay as her best friend, and totally overlooks her degrading insults aimed at her as well as the fact she definitely can't stand her. Although it's all part of Obfuscating Stupidity as Saison enjoys riling up Brittnay by pretending to be from France.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: As revealed at the very end of Episode 79.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Downplayed, but when being threatened with bullets by the Expendables, she didn't include the phrase "how do you say" in her sentences.
  • Official Couple: With Blaine.
  • Pregnant Badass: In her own right, as she still joined the Overland Park cheer squad and helped them win the competition while pregnant. She remains a cheerleader right until she gives birth, showcasing that she still practiced with the others with her pregnant belly.
  • Signature Headgear: Her beret, that she never takes off no matter what.
  • Sixth Ranger: When she joins the Overland Park cheer squad. In Season Three she is asked to rejoin, by Brittnay of all people, because they couldn't get anyone else besides Shay Van Buren and Atchison's Trisha.
  • Spanner in the Works: Finds out where Brittnay and Deandra are trapped in Episode 80 after noticing Sofia exit through a wall passage—right as she's leaving her parents' house.
  • Stepford Smiler: Not only does her doll constantly have a smile on her face, she usually speaks in a positive tone, no matter the situation. Except when she, Shay and Brittnay are attacked by The Expendables, she clearly is terrified.
  • Teen Pregnancy:
    • The plot of episode 14, after Trisha finds a positive pregnancy test and tries to hunt down the mother-to-be. Looks like Lunch Lady Belinda was right about Saison and Blaine making a baby on prom night.
    • She gives birth to a girl in the lunchroom and her baby is delivered by Deandra, Belinda, and Atchison's Trisha. Saison names the baby Brittnay, after you-know-who.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Being French, she always wants crepes, baguettes or croissants. Although her favorite food is French fries.
  • Two First Names: Although Saison is not a french given name (rather a noun), her last name, Margeurite, is a play on "Marguerite", which is the french name for "Daisy". So her name would be "Season Daisy".
  • Underboobs: Her crop top is so short, it shows her mid breasts. The reality TV Show "Babes Having Babies" even censors her nipples so much her shirt fails to hide them correctly.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Brittnay. She sees her as her best friend, despite the latter hating her guts and wanting nothing to do with her.
  • Verbal Tic: Her "How do you say..." which drives Brittnay absolutely mad. It's implied she does it on purpose to annoy Brittnay after the reveal of her being Canadian in Season 5.
  • Wacky Cravings: In Episode 53; we should note that this is right before her water breaks.
Saison: Hello. I think today I am having a craving for a croissant stuffed with pickles and corn dog, but instead of the hot dog in the middle of the corn dog, I would like some, how you say, Greek yogurt.
  • Walking Spoiler: See how whited-out her folder is?

    Jonathan "Than" Getslinhaumer
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/than_8768.jpg

Hey! That's not my name!

Voiced by: Mark Cope

An Overland Park student who has a habit for spouting out arrogant statements and gay innuendos, much to the disgust and frustration of the football team.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: To the football team as a whole. Mostly to Tanner, who particularly hates his guts compared to the others because of his douchebag attitude and would rather not be in the same room as him. He grows out of it after becoming less obnoxious and Tanner warms up to him.
  • Abusive Parents: Implied when Brittnay punches Than in the stomach, which prompts him to say that it reminded him of his mother.
  • All Gays are Promiscuous: He constantly makes gay sex references, and when he comes out as gay, he tries as hard as possible to make out and/or have sex with as many men as possible (even doing a blow job through a glory hole in a public bathroom).
  • All Men Are Perverts: Men and woman alike aren't safe from his inappropriate comments and sexual harassment.
  • Ambiguously Bi/Ambiguously Gay: It bounces back and forth. For the first two seasons, he was a gay man in a very, very Transparent Closet, but thanks to Jenna Darabond in Season 3, he discovers bisexuality and decides on this. However, the bi part gets subverted as he's very unreceptive to Jenna's attempts to seduce him, doesn't respond at all to Brittnay coming onto him when training for the Five Pillars, and in Season 5, his Raging Stiffie deflates when Trisha 2 gets naked, so he seems to have used bisexuality as a mask to enjoy his attraction to men while still hiding his disinterest in women. This is a fairly common stepping stone in many gay men's realizations about their sexuality.
  • Armoured Closet Gay: Extremely parodied. He acts like a homophobe bully from the get go, but turns out to be clearly not assuming his own sexuality, and makes tons of gay comments aimed at the football team.
  • The Bully: Was originally intended to be a parody of this, before the creators decided to make him more sympathetic by turning him into a confused gay.
  • Butt-Monkey: He's constantly rejected by the football team and is on the end of a lot of slapstick.
  • Catchphrase:
  • Characterization Marches On: In his first two appearances, we wore reflective sunglasses, possibly to hide his eyes. But from all episodes on, he wears clear sunglasses.
  • Childhood Friends: With Tanner and Matthew.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: He constantly harasses the football team with gay innuendos, peeping on them in the locker room, and is always coming on to Tanner, but Episode 81 reveals that Than didn't have drunk sex with Tanner because the latter wasn't in the right state of mind to give consent.
  • Closet Key: To Shaw.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Happens too much to count.
Tanner: [about Brittnay] I've got to say Jonathan, that's quite the beard you got there.
Than: [touches his face] Aw, thanks! I haven't shaved in weeks!
  • Coming-Out Story: Parodied.
  • Depraved Homosexual: The first thing he does when he came out: going to the boys' locker room and making out with Tanner. Even before that, he loved sexually-harassing the football team every chance he could.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": Does not like to go by his full name Johnathan, preferring to be called "Than". It's always been the case that he doesn't like to be called by his name, as Matthew states that in elementary school, he wanted to be called Uncle Jesse.
  • Dumb Blond: Not as much as Blaine, but he has his moments.
  • Dumb Jock: When he joins the football team.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He reveals in Episode 81 that he and Tanner didn't actually have sex, but Tanner simply peed his pants, and Than decided to keep it a secret. He also states that he was too drunk to actually give consent, which would be no better than rape.
Than: I'm a pervert, not a fucking monster.
  • First-Name Basis: The football team usually calls him by his full name (to his annoyance), but mostly Tanner.
  • Forceful Kiss: He tries to prove to Brittnay he isn't homosexual by forcefully kissing Tanner. This hilariously backfires at him.
    Than: Yup. I'm gay.
  • Freudian Slip: Parodied to the hell and back; everything he says is about his repressed homosexuality and how he wants to have intercourse with men (which he immediately denies afterwards).
  • Have I Mentioned I Am Heterosexual Today?: Each time he lets out extremely gay Freudian Slips, he quickly corrects himself by saying he loves girls and has sex with a ton of them. No one buys it.
  • Iconic Item: His sunglasses. He never takes them off. Ever. Not even while playing football!
  • Incompatible Orientation: Brittnay dumps him after realizing he's gay (their counter with Tristan and Tanner having tipped her off).
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: One of the reasons he keeps stalking/following the football team. A flashback from the third grade shows that he's always struggled with being accepted by his peers. In his introduction episode, Than laments that his attitude is why he doesn't have friends.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He evolves into this in later seasons. He's still a slimy, self-centered creep, but he's genuinely thrilled to have friends, and works hard to keep them. He's also loyal to Tanner, and the rest of the football team.
  • Lovable Jock: After joining the football team in Season 3.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: He is a huge self-proclaimed pervert alright, but damn is he hilarious.
  • The Mole: Was this for Jenna Darabond's hipsters after joining the Football Team, but decided having the guys actually like him was more important and went back on Jenna's plans during the championship.
  • Not Even Bothering with an Excuse: On a character and meta level in the season five opener. Everyone is headed to France this season, much to Mackenzie's annoyance, with reasons ranging from plausible (the Van Burens are simply on vacation) to truly ridiculous (the football team are playing an away game... in France. Even they agree this is a bit silly). Finally, Than shows up. When Mackenzie asks what reason he could possibly have for being there...
Than: ...Eh, fuck you guys. I get to be in this season, too.
  • Pet the Dog: His first hints at Character Development come when he dates Brittnay in Season Two. Despite being uninterested in her romantically and sexually, he treats her kindly and is generally supportive when she's in a bad mood, attempting to calm her down when she reads some mean comments about herself online by pointing out the positive ones far outweigh the negative. Overall, he was actually not a bad boyfriend, despite the obvious issue.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Red to Tanner's Blue, and the Blue to Shaw's Red.
  • The Scrappy: In-universe, Than is this to most of Overland Park. The Football Team completely hates him and wishes he would go away, Brittnay only starts dating him because they both hate the Football Team and Than is more than willing to engage in anal sex, and the fact that he took Shay Van Buren to prom is more of a sign of how far she fell after the "Gay Van Buren" escapade. The only one who really treats him with any civility is Tristan.
    • After joining the football team, the rest of the guys start to see Than as an actual friend and begin to treat him as such, although they make it clear they're not interested in him sexually.
  • Sixth Ranger: Finally joins the football team in Season 3 after Justin quits for the hipsters.
  • Shirtless Scene: He never wears a shirt on, just wearing a blazer that shows his bare chest to everyone.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Implied to be his motive for why he's always in the locker room. It's likely that he has feelings for Tanner, seeing as though Tanner takes the brunt of his annoying stalkerish behaviors and sexual harassment.
  • Sunglasses at Night: He always have a pair of shaded glasses on, no matter if he's indoors or outdoors.
  • The Thing That Would Not Leave: He just won't take the hint that the Football Team loathes him completely. When he comes out, he thinks that it's because everyone but Tanner is homophobic.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: While Than wasn't mean to begin with, he was still a fairly obnoxious creep in the first seasons. Come Season 3 and onwards, and while he still is a pervert, he greatly cares about his friends and Episode 81 reveals that he and Tanner didn't have sex because he would've never had sex with him without his consent, which he couldn't have since Tanner was drunk as hell.
  • Transparent Closet: Parodied and exaggerated beyond belief - he makes constant comments to the football team about wanting to have anal sex, give blowjobs to or take showers with them. Yet, he still claims to be straight. Tanner is particularly frustrated by all this.
  • That Came Out Wrong: He and Tobias Fünke would Have a Gay Old Time together.

    Rachel Tice

"LA LA LA, I LOVE GOSSIP GIRL SOOOOO MUCH!"

Voiced by: Carlo Moss

Fucking Rachel Tice is the most unpopular girl at Overland Park ever since she ate a roly-poly in the 3rd grade. She obsesses over Gossip Girl and her only friend is Judith.

  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: When the hipsters start becoming popular in Season 3.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Judith calls her "Rach".
  • All of the Other Reindeer: She's the most unpopular girl in school for a reason. Even after she wins Prom Queen, she gains a reputation of being a whore for giving blow jobs to all the school's boys. She mentions a teacher at the school actually threw a rock at her once.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: To Bridget.
  • Ascended Extra: Gains more appearances in Season 3 after being absent the previous season after she joins Jenna's clique of hipsters.
  • Beautiful All Along: Parodied as the show is of course starring dolls, but just put Rachel in a purple gown and take off her glasses, and she can officially be a model! Even then the girls think it's the best they can do to Rachel (see Informed Deformity below).
  • Blind Without 'Em: Rachel is revealed to have an extremely poor eyesight without her glasses in the Season 5 finale where she bumps into walls and falls off the catwalk.
  • Butt-Monkey: Her Big Sister Bully beats her up, her Only Friend is just as unpopular as she is and everyone curses at her or just ignores her. Then she has a whore reputation by Season 2.
  • The Chessmaster: Sees herself as this. Except not really.
  • Childhood Friends: With (all formerly) Brittnay, Mackenzie, and Shay.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: In the Season 5 finale, when she stumbles and falls because she can't see without her glasses, the crowd starts booing her and Rachel answers by flipping them off while yelling profanities at them.
  • Deadpan Snarker: After she Took a Level in Badass in Season 3, she also took a level in sarcasm. It especially shows when she has to deal with Jenna Dapananian's drugged-up antics.
Rachel: Oh wonderful, by now she's got probably two pounds of the weed in her stomach.
  • Dude Where Is My Respect: After growing a spine in Season 3, Rachel doesn't get shy to get the respect she lacks from people. In Season 4, she and Judith calls out Deandra (who's grown to become a primadonna) over the way she treats them like (literal) shit.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Especially in Season 3 after joining the hipsters.
  • Everyone Has Standards: She's visibly horrified when she witnesses Deandra having her arms ripped off by the Van Burens and the Cheer Squad, and tells Judith that it was definitely NOT part of their revenge plans against the popular girls.
  • Evil Laugh: When she and Judith discuss their Evil Plan to overthrow the popular girls.
  • Fallen Princess: She used to be popular in the third grade, until the day she ate a roly-poly and was since rejected by her peers for it.
  • Fangirl: For various TV shows, especially Gossip Girl.
  • Fiery Redhead: After she Took a Level in Badass in Season 3, Rachel doesn't let anyone step on her anymore. It's especially the case in Season 5. Just about everything pisses Rachel off. Oh, and this trope is taken to a new level when she's drunk.
  • Flipping the Bird: A censored two handed-one in the Season 5 finale.
  • Former Friend of Alpha Bitch: Her main characterization. In the third grade, she was best friends with Mackenzie, Brittnay AND Shay Van Buren. But the moment she ate a roly-poly in the sandbox, her friends ditched her and she has been an unpopular outcast ever since.
  • The Glasses Gotta Go: During her makeover in the Season 5 finale, Mackenzie takes off her glasses, but it ends up being a disaster as Rachel can't see shit without them on and ends up bumping into walls and falling off the catwalk.
  • Graceful Ladies Like Purple: She wears a purple dress as a competing model in the Season 5 finale. Although inverted as Rachel is more of a tomboy and is far from being "graceful".
  • Grew a Spine: Rachel in the first two seasons? A crybaby Butt-Monkey who lets everyone insult or walk over her. Rachel as of Season 3? A Fiery Redhead who doesn't get shy to tell you to fuck off when you try to disrespect her or Judith.
  • Hated by All: Except for Judith. And the hipsters thanks to Jenna Darabond's apparent fascination with her and Judith, even calling them cool despite being nerds and practically outcasts. Then again, it is a hipster thing.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Judith.
  • Hilariously Abusive Childhood: A rare sibling-abuse example with her verbally and even physically unhealthy relationship with Bridget Tice.
  • Hipster: A plot-point in Season 3 when she joins Jenna Darabond's clique of hipsters to destroy the cheer squad and football team.
  • Impossibly Tacky Clothes: She still dresses like a third grader. Although Jenna Darabond notes she likes her fashion style as part of the hipster trend. Rachel even states that her troll shirt is something Bridget found in a ditch.
Bridget: [about Rachel's prom dress] You look like a tampon that was dipped in Skittles and vomit.
  • Inelegant Blubbering: She always lets out shrill sobs when something upsets her.
  • Informed Deformity: She's just an Ariel doll with a pair of glasses, yet she's seen by the rest of the cast as an unattractive Gonk.
  • Lady Swears-a-Lot: While Rachel swears as much as the rest of the cast, she starts swearing more in Season 3-4, but Season 5 takes this further, where she can give Brittnay a run for her money in terms of cussing vulgarities. When she's on the catwalk during the modelling competition, she swears at the people booing her and flips them off.
  • The Napoleon: She's the shortest teenager of the cast (even shorter than Ashley Katchadorian), and what she lacks in height, she compensates with attitude.
  • Nerd Glasses: Wears a black pair, just to remind you that she's an unpopular geek. Just like Judith, she's Blind Without 'Em.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: She ate a roly-poly in third grade. Before that, she was a part of Shay and Mackenzie's "popular" clique.
  • One Head Shorter: Than everyone except the children.
  • Only Friend: To Judith.
  • Phrase Catcher: "FUCKING RACHEL TICE!!"
  • Pyrrhic Victory:
    • She won Prom Queen by giving blow jobs to most of the boys in Overland Park High, but as it turns out this didn't make her popular. She just now has a whore's reputation along with being a social outcast.
    • She later help Team USA won the International Modelling Competition in Season 5, but only because of the other team disqualification due to Shay's interference and her bad attitude during her walk didn't endear her to everybody.
  • Really Gets Around: She managed to give blow jobs to every boy in school except for Matthew Derringer because he doesn't have a penis (though he said he turned her down anyway, he's that good of a boyfriend to Trisha).
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Red to Judith's Blue.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: Receives a makeover by Cameron, Mackenzie and Brittnay in the Season 5 finale in order to win the modelling competition. Too bad they can't fix her bad eyesight and sailor mouth.]]
  • Those Two Girls: She and Rachel are usually always seen together.
  • Tiny Tyrannical Girl: She tries hard to be this, but everyone would rather ignore her existence or push her over. As of Season 3, it definitely changes if you get on her bad side.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Rachel used to be a huge crybaby back in Season 1; come Season 3, she got the ability to defend herself along with Judith after joining the hipsters.
  • Vocal Evolution: In Season 1, her voice was very raspy and gruff. Come Season 4, it has lost most of the roughness and increased in pitch.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: She rips Mackenzie a new one when her previous self-centered schemes not only resulted into Jenna Darabond getting stabbed in prison, but most of all she went back on her word on Brittnay she promised in the third grade, and the hard work they did back then to keep Brittnay's temper controlled is ruined thanks to her and now there's no stopping Brittnay's rampage.
  • Xanatos Gambit: What she imagines her plot to win prom queen to be. It's actually really, really simple.

    Judith Dinsmore

Heeyyy!

Voiced by: Lily Vonnegut

Rachel Tice's best friend.

  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: When the hipsters become popular in Season 3.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Comes with being the most unpopular girls in school with Rachel. Worse for her, people wouldn't even glance at her considering that Rachel gets most of the attention as a loser.
  • Ambiguously Gay: She is implied to have a crush on Rachel's sister Bridget, by how shy she acts around her. There's also the time she stared at Jenna Dapananian when she complained she had no one to make out with and both turned away from eachother bashfully afterwards.
  • Ascended Extra: Gains more appearances in Season 3 after being absent the previous season after she joins Jenna's clique of hipsters.
  • Blind Without 'Em: Rachel once stated (in Episode 36) that Judith's glasses had to be custom-made because the latter's vision is very bad.
  • Braces of Orthodontic Overkill: Wears 'em all the time. It causes a lisp in her speech.
  • Butt-Monkey: Not to the same extent as Rachel, but still counts. Her first appearance has her being tossed over by the football team off the cafeteria line.
  • Catchphrase: "HEYYYY!"
  • Deadpan Snarker: Just like Rachel, joining the hipsters had a great impact on Judith's confidence, and as of Season 3, she isn't afraid of mouthing off.
Judith: Why don't you go drink a nice tall glass of "go fuck yourselves"?
  • Disappeared Dad: She mentions her father died of cancer related to gingivitis in Episode 15.
  • Dude Where Is My Respect: She and Rachel gain self-confidence after joining the hipsters in Season 3, and from that point on don't let people get away with disrespecting them as they did in the first two seasons. It's best proven when she and Rachel call out Deandra on her primadonna attitude when she lets the success of her musical single get to her head.
  • Everyone Has Standards: She's greatly shaken when she sees Deandra having her arms ripped off, even asking Rachel if that was part of their plan. An equally shocked Rachel tells her that it definitely wasn't.
  • Evil Laugh: When she and Rachel discuss their Evil Plan to overthrow the popular girls.
  • First-Name Basis: She is often simply referred to as Judith. Her surname is only revealed via Lily Vonnegut's twitter, and Brittnay in Episode 50.
  • Gonk: Her messy hair and Braces of Orthodontic Overkill don't help her case.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Rachel.
  • Hipster: A plot-point in Season 3 when she joins Jenna Darabond's clique of hipsters to destroy the cheer squad and football team.
  • Hidden Depths: She has a surprising wide knowledge of drugs, as she pinpointed Jenna was high on Ecstasy rather than marijuana.
  • Introverted Cat Person: She's a meek unpopular geek and owns a cat named Kenney.
  • Nerd Glasses: And she's Blind Without 'Em.
  • Only Friend: To Rachel.
  • Precocious Crush: Implied to be crushing on 27 year old Bridget Tice.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Blue to Rachel's Red.
  • Running Gag: She can't have gluten. Or else she'll throw up red blood.
  • Satellite Character: She's Rachel unpopular best friend with braces. And that's pretty much all you need to know. Case in point, she's only seen without being with Rachel ONCE.
  • Seen It All: In "A Very Deandra Thanksgiving", she doesn't seem to bat an eyelash while Rachel gets beaten by Bridget, having a casual conversation with Deandra in the meanwhile. To be fair, Judith does try to warn Rachel about watching it in front of Bridget and Rachel ignores her and provokes Bridget anyway.
  • Ship Tease: Has some moments with Jenna Dapananian.
  • Sickly Neurotic Geek: Has a gluten allergy, and Episode 50 drops the implication that she also has asthma.
  • Speech Impediment: Due to her orthodontic headgear.
  • The Stoner: Implied by how she knows the side effects on drugs (like weed and Ecstasy) and tells she and Rachel do "whippets".
  • Those Two Girls: She and Rachel are usually always seen together.
  • Tomboyish Voice: Has a raspy, boyish voice.

Well. I think this should really be a night for all of us to celebrate together you guys. Like I know it's a cliché, but it's such an honor to be just nominated.

Voiced by: Dave Hill

The nicest girl at Overland Park High.

  • Beauty Equals Goodness: She's just as kind as she is beautiful. She was nominated for prom queen for a reason.
  • Class Princess: She’s literally the only true nice popular girl at Overland Park. She’s not the most popular, but that’s more because she’s not ruthless or vindictive enough to fight for her status in social warfare rather than because people don’t like her enough.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: She's very nice, but seems to live in her own little world. She wishes Jenna Darabond to have her days "filled with pixie wishes and unicorn hugs". Not before she leaves while singing "Do You Wanna Build A Snowman?".
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She's got blonde hair and is hands down the nicest girl in the entire show.
  • Incorruptible Pure Pureness: Not even the biggest bitches in school can find it in them to be mean to her. The only characters who do have bad things to say about her are usually Hate Sinks or drunk.
  • The Ingenue: Kind, soft-spoken, innocent, as the heart of a child, you name it.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: She has blue eyes and is the sweetest girl in the entirety of Overland Park High.
  • Loved by All: Everyone at Overland Park High — Alpha Bitches, jocks, losers, everyone — adores Amberlynn. Her genuinely kind nature and friendliness have made her the Class Princess; while she's too nice to get to the top of the food chain, everyone genuinely likes her and wishes her well, which is more than any of the other popular girls in the series can say. The sole exception is Jenna Darabond, and her dislike of Amberlynn is shown to highlight how awful she is. Shay also drunkenly calls her "fake," which shocks everyone, but Amberlynn is more sad to hear it than angry, saying, "I need to work on myself."
  • Morality Pet: To Brittnay and Mackenzie. Also to Connor Devarnon.
  • Nice Girl: She's pretty much the nicest girl in the entire series, even more so than Trisha and Trisha 2. She just doesn't have a mean bone in her body. When Shay calls her a "fake bitch" during her drunken rant, Amberlynn gasps lightly and instead of being offended, sees it as criticism and states she has to work on herself.
  • Wise Beyond Her Years: Brittnay seems to think so.

    Connor Devarnon

"It was cool, I guess."

Voiced by: Carlo Moss

Spread the rumor that Brittnay gives second rate handjobs.

  • I Lied: He accepted to go to prom with Brittnay if she gave him a handjob. Once he had what he wanted, he thanks Brittnay by ditching her (with her own car).
  • Ink-Suit Actor: Coincidentally, the doll used for Connor resembles Carlo.
  • Jerkass: Told everyone in school that Brittnay gives bad handjobs, refuses to stop telling people, and after being asked out by her, ditches her in the parking lot on Prom Night after getting a handjob.
  • Kick The Son Of A Bitch: As nasty as Brittnay can be, ditching her on prom night after receiving a handjob from her (in her own car, nonetheless) was a pretty big dick move.
  • Odd Friendship: He's surprisingly decent towards Cher Guy, Ashley Katchadorian, Justin and Amberlynn Weggers.
  • Pet the Dog: The episode where he acted the most like a decent human being was the Season 2 finale where he bonded with other students over ditching the hipster concert to watch the State Championship football game instead. He even complimented Ashley Katchadorian's speech, which is by far the nicest thing he's done.
  • Perpetual Frowner: His doll is sulking, and he always speak in an aloof, deadpan way.
  • Straw Misogynist: Implied by how he treats Brittnay like garbage and hits Jenna Depananian.
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: An attractive aloof guy with dark hair.
  • Terse Talker: "It was cool, I guess." is the longest line he's had on the show. Though this was averted in his latest appearance at Jenna Darabond's Hipchellastockalooza concert where he shows up as an audience along with the other Overland Park students.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Got a handjob from Brittnay. Thanks her by stealing her car and leaving her dateless on prom night.
  • Would Hit a Girl: In Episode 57. Though to be fair, Jenna Dapananian was incredibly stoned at the time.
Connor: (whacks her) Stop sweating on me!
Jenna: WOAH! (groans) Right in the BOOBS!

    Jennifer McMiniman
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mpgis_jm.jpg

Voiced by: Jason Earles

A member of the Color Guard who is the one that told Brittnay about Saison really being from Montreal.

  • Bit Character: She only appears in one episode, after being mentioned by Brittnay a single time before time. She isn't seen again afterwards.
  • The Ghost: She was only mentioned once in the second episode, but didn't appear until the third season during a flashback to Mackenzie's New Year's party. Her lack of appearance is even lampshaded by Brittnay, with Jennifer stating she hasn't been seen because she's now on the Color Guard. Jennifer herself lampshades the fact that Brittnay, and the audience, most likely wouldn't be seeing her again.
  • Morality Pet: She is one of the few people Brittnay seems to have no issue with, and trusts Jennifer's statements on the grounds that she hasn't lied since the third grade.
  • Ms. Exposition: Her only speaking role was to clarify Saison's Canadian, not French.
  • Nice Girl: She's pretty nice, from what little we see of her.
  • Noodle Incident: Claims the last time she ever lied was to save a boy's life.
  • Only Sane Man: From what we've seen of her she's pretty grounded in reality, especially compared to the rest of the cast, and was absolutely justified in warning Brittnay about Saison.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Was one of three girls who hightailed it out of the cafeteria when Saison's water broke.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: She accidentally sparks Brittnay's scathing hatred of Saison simply by stating she's not from France like she tells everyone she is. Subverted, in that Jennifer's warning to watch out for Saison was accurate given Saison's been using Obfuscating Stupidity to drive Brittnay insane. And that Saison really is Canadian.
  • Will Not Tell a Lie: Unless it's a matter of life or death.

    Amber Zendejas

The biggest ghost in the whole series, mentioned once, who has yet to make an actual appearance like the other ghost characters have so far.

  • Bit Character: All we know about her is, upon Trisha vomiting in the bathroom stall in the third episode, she apologizes and says she'll contact Amber. This implies Amber has some job in the girls room and may or may not have a connection to the Cheer Squad.
  • The Ghost: Her name's been mentioned exactly once and she's never been seen. Why does she have her own character profile? Well, every other character whose name was mentioned exactly once in the first season is now a recurring character, making her incredibly conspicuous.
  • Spell My Name With An S: People assumed her name was spelled "Zendaihouse" but the Youtube captions spell her name "Zendejas."
