Freedom Fighters

    In General
  • Adaptation Expansion: Considering this is an Ultimate Universe, it goes without saying that this version consists of heroes from every Sonic continuity.
  • Badass Crew: Oh so very much. They were able to save entire planets through their teamwork.
  • Child Soldiers: Kat, Chris and their friends become this when they help with the Freedom Fighters. Technically, all of the Knothole Freedom Fighters are this, being in their late teens at most.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: They are so used to fighting Eggman's Mecha Mooks that an Evil Sorcerer like Ixis Naugus is able to completely set them off their game.
  • Good Cannot Comprehend Evil: In a scene right out of The Dark Knight, during the Sonic Rush adaptation, Sonic and the Freedom Fighters hit a dead end trying to understand and figure out the motives behind Eggman Nega's actions, especially when he unleashes an Egg Cerberus on Mobotropolis For the Evulz. Uncle Chuck helps them understand that people like Eggman Nega have no motives for such atrocities; they do it purely because they want to watch the world burn. Earlier, Blaze even tells them point-blank that trying to understand why Nega does what he does is "an exercise in futility and madness"; she herself gave up attempting to long ago.
  • Kid Hero: All of them are in their late teens at most.
  • True Companions: They Freedom Fighters become this over the course of the series. Come chapter 147, they all declare themselves to be Hope's family, a description she embraces wholeheartedly.

    Sonic the Hedgehog

The Fastest Thing Alive. Original artwork by WaitoChan

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Sonic’s adventures get to him in this story along with having the world on his shoulders and his failure to save Kat and her family on the Death Egg. This eventually leads him to start taking therapy.
  • Adaptational Badass: While Sonic has never really been a wimp, most incarnations suffer from Super Drowning Skills, which media like Sonic X turns into severe hydrophobia to the point landing in a simple puddle of water triggers a Freak Out. Here, while still afraid of water, Sonic is capable of swimming.
  • Adaptational Wimp: This applies to him as well, in part the result of a Surprisingly Realistic Outcome.
    • In Battle, Sonic was able to go toe to toe with Ultimate Emerl, who wielded the combined abilities of Sonic and his friends, the energy from several destroyed stars, and all seven Chaos Emeralds, and defeat him in his base form. In Tales, while he certainly tries, Sonic is instead beaten bloody and forced to become Hyper Sonic to stand a chance.
    • In Secret Rings, Sonic was just as capable as ever even as Erazor’s curse drained his life. In Tales, he actually feels the effects of the curse, getting dizzy and ill. By the end, he suffers a near-death experience and has to be supported by Sally to find the final World Ring, only recovering by becoming Darkspine Sonic.
  • Arch-Enemy:
    • To Robotnik, as in most universes.
    • Metal Sonic serves as his greatest enemy after Robotnik, being a robot doppelganger created to kill him.
  • Berserk Button: You hurt or threaten to harm his friends and loved ones, you’re gonna pay.
  • Claustrophobia: Along with water, enclosed spaces are Sonic's greatest fear. He openly admits that anyplace that doesn't let him leave whenever he wants, like say a cruise ship, is the same as being locked in a box.
  • Enhanced Punch: He is able to use his Super-Speed to strengthen his punches, so they can pierce metal.
  • Fast as Lightning: His prolonged exposure to Chaos energy eventually enables him to conjure blue lightning as a power-up.
  • Force Field: By vibrating his molecules at super-speed, Sonic can create a forcefield.
  • Heroes Love Dogs: He has a pet dog named Muttski.
  • Heroic BSoD: Suffers a major one after Ahklut the Orca delivers a brutal Curb-Stomp Battle to him in their rematch, happens to No-Sell everything Sonic does and comes frighteningly close to killing him.
  • Hot-Blooded: Many of his friends have noted that he is impulsive and quick to act.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: In chapter 68. Sonic may be undergoing Sanity Slippage and being a bit harsh with the other Freedom Fighters, but he makes a damn good point when he calls out Sally on overruling his concerns with letting the human children accompany them in the fight against Kodos, a war criminal who's far more monstrous and evil than Robotnik ever could be, especially since Kat nearly lost her life during the fight. Antoine even admits Sonic had a point and he always thought as such, even if he didn't say anything at the time.
  • Hero Protagonist: The first person that decided to start foiling Robotnik’s plans and the fic's main character.
  • Heroic Fatigue: The constant battles against Eggman and other villains have taken a toll on his psyche and he is in therapy.
  • Mentor Archetype: After she joins the Freedom Fighters, Sonic teaches Mina his Spin Dash.
  • My Greatest Failure: From the Angel Island arc onward, Sonic regards his failure to save Kat and her family from the Death Egg as this, since he just automatically assumed there were no other slaves on the Death Egg and didn't bother to make sure. He's so torn up over it that he allows Kat to beat him to a pulp as retribution to allow her to vent and move on, and come the Egg Dungeon chapter, he's determined to free every prisoner in the building or die trying, adamant that No One Gets Left Behind. As he himself explains to Sally:
Sonic: Nobody gets left behind or forgotten on my watch again, Sally. I can't take it easy. I can never take it easy. Not for one second, okay? The minute I forget that, someone like Kat pays the price.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Sonic is well-known as a Smug Super and showboat who spends his time joking around and rarely takes things seriously. When he's not telling jokes or goofing off, it's a sign that he's truly furious and done playing around, and whoever pushed him to that point is in for a bad day.
  • Rage Breaking Point: As laid back as he is, Sonic is prone to this when pushed too far.
    • After Robotnik roboticizes Uncle Chuck in front of him, he threatens to kill him.
    • During the Sonic 4 Episode II adaptation; after going through absolute hell to save his friends from being held prisoner on the Death Egg Mark II, Sonic finally snaps upon discovering that the Sally he rescued was Metamorphia in disguise. After briefly succumbing to his Superpowered Evil Side and coming close to killing Metamorphia outright, leaving her terrified at the mere sight of him, Sonic heads for Robotropolis in full Tranquil Fury, making it clear to Robotnik that he's not playing games and dropping Implied Death Threats if he doesn't let Sally go; Eggatha is so freaked out by his change in demeanor that she uncuffs Sally and hands her over on the spot.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Breezie was a possible love interested for Sonic in AoSTH and Friendly Enemies in the Archie Comics. Here, they're cousins through adoption.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Discussed in chapter 41. Sonic admits that in the past, any clothes he wore would rapidly wear out or burn off due to the friction produced by his Super-Speed. His Uncle Chuck solved the problem by having Honey the Cat make him clothes out of friction-proof and heat-resistant fabric.
  • Sacred First Kiss: Undina accidentally became his first kiss after giving him CPR, something Sally is jealous of.
  • Shock and Awe: His extensive usage of Chaos energy enables him to conduct electricity even without a Chaos Emerald.
  • Super Drowning Skills: Downplayed. He is still afraid of water, but he can swim.
  • Super Mode: As always, Super Sonic.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: Dark Sonic serves as this when he was corrupted by Chaos energy.
  • Super-Speed: He’s Sonic.
  • Survivor's Guilt: As a result of not saving everyone from the Death Egg, he suffers from guilt and grabs his rib cage as a projection of said guilt.
  • Unrelated in the Adaptation: In Sonic Underground, he, Manic, and Sonia were triplet siblings. Here, they're merely Childhood Friends. This naturally means Queen Aleena isn't his mother.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Dark Sonic, who caused Robotnik to amputate his arm to keep Chaos Corruption from spreading, traumatized Metamorphia who gets better thanks to Grimer, assaulted Neo Metal Sonic and tried to murder Thunderbolt the Chinchilla. Downplayed with his fight with Thunderbolt, as she outlasts this form and wins their fight.

    Tails
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tos_tails.jpg
Boy Genius and Sonic's Sidekick. Original artwork by WaitoChan
Sonic's sidekick and best friend.

    Sally Acorn
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tos_sally.jpg
Princess of Acorn. Original artwork by WaitoChan

  • Action Girl: The main Leader of the Freedom Fighters.
  • Badass Normal: She doesn't have Sonic's Super-Speed, Bunnie's Super-Strength or Tails' ability to fly. But she is a skilled strategist, an excellent hacker, and of course, a competent fighter.
  • Big Damn Kiss: She kisses Sonic after he narrowly escapes being killed in space during the events of Sonic Adventure 2.
  • Blade Below the Shoulder: Twin Laser Blades on her wrists.
  • Broken Pedestal: Sally once knew Locke as a child from meeting him and Knuckles during meetings with her father, King Max. However, once she meets Locke again as an adult and sees how abusive and racist he is to both Knuckles and Kat, Sally is understandably furious.
Locke: Princess Sally. You've gotten big.
Sally: Don't bother putting up the act you gave my father, Locke. Not after what you said and did to Kat. To think I used to respect you.
  • Closer to Earth: She's among the more grounded Freedom Fighters, especially Sticks.
  • Everygirl: Borderline example, despite her role as Princess, Sally is arguably the nearest to "normal" in terms of personality compared to most of her wackier comrades.
  • Foil:
    • Largely to Sonic, her cautious and uptight personality contrasting Sonic's brash and reckless persona.
    • Also to Amy. Both are interested in Sonic on a romantic level, but Sonic actually shows some level of affection back for Sally, whereas with Amy, it is mostly a one-sided thing.
    • Both share a similar arrogance and ego that only fuels their bickering more.
  • Hypocrite: In her What the Hell, Hero? moment with Sally, Sticks points out that Sally's constantly antagonizing her and trying to 'civilize' her by nitpicking at all her bad habits, yet doesn't do the same to Sonic with his bad habits. Sally realizes Sticks has a point and apologizes, admitting that she finds Sticks a bit much for her to handle. She then tries to compromise by being more lenient in exchange for Sticks taking baths and keeping her dumpster-diving at a minimum.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Her overruling Sonic's objection about bringing kids to the Death Egg ends with all the kids being captured.
  • Not So Above It All:
    • She joins in on betting how quick Sonic will ditch his disguise.
    • She gives Sticks permission to maim Robotnik's forces for not giving her (Sticks), a wanted poster.
    • She is a little jealous Undina took Sonic's first kiss after giving him mouth-to-mouth.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: She strikes up this relationship with Sticks. Stick's Wild Child attitude clashes with Sally's no-nonsense formal princess mindset. Sally often comes across a strict mother trying to corral her rebellious daughter.
  • Tomboy Princess: She has no problem getting her hands dirty. She's an expert martial artist and acrobat, and is good with a firearm.
  • Warrior Princess: She's a princess who's just as capable of holding her own against villains as the others.

    Rotor Walrus
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tos_rotor_4.jpg
Battle-Mechanic. Original artwork by WaitoChan

  • Adaptational Sexuality: While he was never shown as attracted to anyone in particular in Archie or SatAM, the Christmas Episode confirms this Rotor is homosexual.
  • It's Personal: Akhlut led a raid on his hometown that killed his parents.
  • The Engineer: He's the group's inventor, engineer, repairman, and general tech-wizard, whilst Sally and NICOLE handle strategy and hacking.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: He builds all of the cool toys that the Freedom Fighters use.

    Antoine D'Coolette
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tos_antoine.jpg
Dashing Swordsman. Original artwork by WaitoChan
  • Adaptational Badass: His SatAM counterpart was a Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey through and through, while his Archie counterpart began as the same before he Took a Level in Badass. This Antoine is a competent, brave fighter from the start.
  • Big Damn Kiss: He and Bunnie kiss in chapter 106.
  • Butt-Monkey: While a better fighter than usual, he is also just as clumsy. When Robotnik captures him, he is turned into a court jester.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: He wields a rapier.
  • Power Copying: He attempts to mimic Sonic's Spin Dash ... and almost gets Sonic skewered with his saber. Fortunately, he managed to keep ahold of his sword the next time.

    Johnny Lightfoot
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tos_johnny_7.jpg
Quickfooted Staff-fighter. Original artwork by WaitoChan
  • Badass Normal: Johnny lacks a Mo-Bility (Mobian Special Ability) or a genius level IQ, just his trusty quarterstaff, and can still scrap Badniks with the best of them.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: It's unclear whether it's this or Dies Differently in Adaptation, but Johnny survives long past the Sonic Adventure arc due to Chaos not being a Drakon.

    Poker Lewis
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tos_porker_7.jpg
All-Around Einswine. Original artwork by WaitoChan

  • Guile Hero: His main asset when on the field is his wits. He manages to help defeat the Emerald Cat by baiting it into jumping into a mud puddle, ruining its camouflage.
  • The Smart Guy: Like Rotor and Tails, he was made a freedom fighter due to his brain power.

    Nicole the Holo-Lynx
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tos_nicole.jpg
Living A.I. Original artwork by WaitoChan

    Shorty the Squirrel/Shortfuse
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tos_shortfuse_7.jpg
Fullmetal Rodent. Original artwork by WaitoChan
Click here to see Shorty the Squirrel

  • And I Must Scream: He was trapped in a Cybernik armor by Robotnik’s forces. While he has complete and total control over it, he can’t eat, drink, etc. while inside of the armour. Fortunately, the armour is eventually hacked and Shorty is freed.
  • Arm Cannon: He gain the ability to turn his hands into these after being placed into the Cybernik armour.
  • Big Damn Kiss: After being freed from his armour, the first thing he does is kiss Tekno.
  • Determinator: It is only though sheer force of will that kept his free will after being turned into a Cybernik.
  • Made of Indestructium: His armour is made of Megatal.
  • Man in the Machine: He spent most of the fic trapped in a suit of indestructible armour.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: His real name is "Shorty the Squirrel".
  • Play-Along Prisoner: In chapter 72, he admits he could have used his Super-Strength to escape from his bonds but didn't want to risk that Robotnik would kill the others.
  • Sense Loss Sadness: Due to being trapped inside the Cybernik armour, Shorty is unable to eat, drink, or feel anything, and hates it. In chapter 44, he outlines just how horrible he has it to dissuade Mina from her desire to be roboticized herself so she can be with her mother:
Shorty: Do you have any idea what roboticization means, Mina?! I was lucky to be encased in this Badnik shell. I can't eat. I can't feel the sun or wind on my fur, or the temperature of this room. I can't even use a bathroom anymore. Can you even begin to imagine what hell that must be? I'd give anything for the simple pleasures the rest of you enjoy all the time, and here you are, just wanting to throw it all away!

    Bunnie Rabbot
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tos_bunnie.jpg
Bionic Belle. Original artwork by WaitoChan
  • Arm Cannon: Her roboticized arm has one.
  • Artificial Limbs: Went from a Cyborg to a bunny with these when the Freedom Fighters got Agatha to make them after the incomplete roboticization she went through at the hands of some of Robotnik’s forces started to kill her.
  • Big Damn Kiss: She and Antoine kiss in chapter 106.
  • The Big Gal: While not "big", per se, her mechanical upgrades make Bunnie's quite tough and durable, beating out the other Freedom Fighters in terms of raw strength.
  • Cute Bruiser: As always, she's a cute rabbit who can destroy a tank.
  • Cyborg: When some of Robotnik’s forces tried to roboticize her, her legs and one of her arms were transformed into metal, but Sonic and his friends interrupted the process before she could be fully converted into a Robian.
  • Flight: She can use the jets in her feet to propel herself though the air.
  • Human Weapon: Due to her cybernetic body parts and martial training, she is easily the third most destructive of the early Freedom Fighter behind Shorty and Sonic himself, far and away stronger than most roboticized individuals.
  • Logical Weakness: Since she is only partially roboticized, she lack an internal power source. This causes her to tired faster since she has to use her own life force to use her robot parts.
  • Rubber Man: Her robotic arm can be used to stretch out and grab things.
  • Super-Strength: Her metal arm gives her this.
  • Survivor Guilt: She admits she sometimes feels bad about only being partially roboticized, since Shortfuse got completely roboticized.

    Sticks the Jungle Badger
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sbsticks.png

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Thanks to her actual backstory being explored here.
  • Battle Boomerang: Her weapon of choice is one.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: She befriends the Freedom Fighters and joins their group after Sonic risks his life to save her from guardians in an Ancient temple. Sticks herself remarks Sonic was the first person who was ever nice to her.
  • Broken Bird: Sticks is revealed to be one in her debut chapter. She grew up under the thumb of her father Jebediah Badger, a Corrupt Corporate Executive who groomed her into taking over his empire. Having only seen the bad side of Mobius' citizens through him, eventually Sticks ran away, shedding her birth name and becoming the Wild Child she is.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: She wouldn’t be Sticks if she wasn’t this.
  • The Mad Hatter: She's fully aware of her Cloudcuckoolander nature, and remarks on it during the Sonic Adventure 2 adaptation.
Sticks: The problem with being the paranoid kook of the group is that no one believes you when something's actually going on.
  • Mundane Utility: She learned five different languages just to see if people were making fun of her.
  • The Nicknamer: She is the one of that gave Robotnik the nickname Eggman here.
  • Not Helping Your Case: When Bunnie's roboticized limbs start being rejected by her body, she states it proves she's not a paranoiac around technology, only to start yelling at her shadow.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Played for Laughs. When Sally asked her to act civilized, she acts likes a proper lady, using proper grammar and acting like someone raised by proper society (which she was). She even uses her old name of Sophia Badger. She admits she was just messing with them.
  • Restored My Faith in Humanity: When first introduced, Sticks lives in total isolation, having only seen the bad side of people thanks to her father and his inner circle. Meeting Sonic and spending time with the Freedom Fighters helps her to see the good in the world.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: She strikes up this relationship with Sally. Stick's Wild Child attitude clashes with Sally's no-nonsense formal princess mindset. Sally often comes across as a strict mother trying to corral her rebellious daughter.
  • Technophobia: She still hates machines and robots. She's okay with Shortfuse though.
  • Trap Master: She is shown to be very knowledgeable about traps and serves this role on the freedom fighters.

    Knuckles the Echidna
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tos_knuckles_3.jpg
Guardian of the Master Emerald. Original artwork by WaitoChan
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Taking from his Archie depiction, Knuckles is a Child Prodigy and Genius Bruiser, able to pull off college-level math at age three. Furthermore, unlike the games and Sonic X, Knuckles is not Super Gullible or a Horrible Judge of Character. Once he learns the truth about Sonic and Robotnik during the events of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, he is not so easily duped by the doc again; while he does end up falling for one of Robotnik's tricks again during the Sonic Advance 2 adaptation, it was a much more elaborate and convincing deception.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Downplayed. While Knuckles is easily duped into thinking Robotnik is a hero and Sonic is a villain during the Angel Island arc, here, it's justified because Robotnik is the first sentient being he's met since he was ten years old. Kat's failure to properly explain helps with that.
  • Mutants: Taking from his Archie origin, his father performed genetic experiments on him when he was an egg, exposing him to high levels of Chaos Energy to turn him into a powerful mutant Guardian. Sonic bluntly describes it as Locke turning Knuckles into a “genetic mutant freak.”
  • Power High: When he first becomes Chaos Knuckles and depowers Enerjak, he spends several minutes raving about how good the power feels until he sees Kat’s fear of him.
  • Punch-Clock Hero: Due to his devotion to protecting the Master Emerald, he is a part-time member of the Freedom Fighters.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: As Hyper Knuckles, he can use these to launch fireballs.
  • Super-Strength: He is one of the strongest members of the Freedom Fighters.
  • True Companions: With Kat.
  • Unwitting Pawn: He has been a pawn to Robotnik a few times.

    Mina Mongoose
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Mina_1_mod-size_4987.png
  • Adaptational Badass: She’s more of an active combatant than she was in Archie, with Sonic teaching her his Spin Attack techniques.
  • Despair Event Horizon: She hits it after her mother got roboticized. It got to the point she wished she was roboticized just to be with her mother.
  • Idol Singer: She becomes this after joining the Freedom Fighters.
  • Retired Badass: As of Thunderbolt’s debut, she’s largely retired from active Freedom Fighter duty in favor of her singing career.
  • Super-Speed: Like in Archie, it's her main power.
  • You Didn't Ask: Her justification for not telling anyone she had Super-Speed.

    Kathryn "Kat" Winters

  • The Chosen One: She was chosen to be the Guardian of the Master Emerald.
  • Child of Two Worlds: Her father is from Northamer, Mobius’ equivalent of the United States, while her mother is from Chun-nan, Mobius’ equivalent of China.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Went through this at the hands of Neo Metal Sonic. She clearly has trauma from it, as she gets scared instantly when a far more restricted Metal Sonic comes to aid in Robotnik’s Enemy Mine with the Freedom Fighters in order to stop South Island from sinking.
  • Fiery Redhead: She has red hair, and the Hair-Trigger Temper to match.
  • Hypocrite: Kat tells Lara-Su not to threaten Silver with murder when he tries attacking them, as Freedom Fighters don't do that...despite the fact she herself threatened Blaze with murder when she accidentally got Cream captured with the Freedom Fighters agreeing. When she's called on it later, Kat justifies it by pointing out she was just off what happened to her during the Heroes adaptation and has been in therapy since then.
  • It's Personal: With Robotnik, who had his forces decimate her home village and terminate all survivors of the first Death Egg crash, with her barely escaping the latter.
  • Poor Communication Kills: During the Angel Island arc, Kat, the Sole Survivor of the Death Egg crash thanks to Robotnik killing the other slaves on the ship, comes across Knuckles and notes that Sonic left her behind instead of saving them; her exact words and shock end up further convincing Knuckles that Robotnik's story that he's a good guy and Sonic a dangerous villain is true. Several chapters later, Knuckles finally steels himself and asks Kat the full story, and immediately kicks himself for being so easily manipulated by the doctor. Kat, however, comforts him, and admits that if she had just told Knuckles that Robotnik enslaved her and was the one who killed the other prisoners in the first place, a lot of the trouble everyone went through on the island could have been avoided.
  • True Companions: With Knuckles.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Due to the Master Emerald choosing her as a Guardian, she gains far more Chaos Energy than even Knuckles and becomes very strong physically with only a few able to match her physical might. However, her lack of skill proves to be her undoing against certain foes that actually know how to fight. With the biggest being Enerjak who berates her for having so much Chaos Energy, but lacking any form of actual control for it and attacking like a beast as she usually does, thus being beaten by him despite himself being not much of a fighter. It's after the battle Kat decides to train properly and deal with some of her mental issues.

    Amy Rose
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tos_amy.jpg
Hammering Hedgehog Heroine. Original artwork by WaitoChan
  • Adaptational Badass: She uses both a bow and hammer here.
  • Amusingly Awful Aim: She has incredibly poor aim with a crossbow, hitting everything but the bullseyes. Upon joining the Freedom Fighters, she keeps with the Piko Piko Hammer.
  • Ancestral Weapon: Her Piko Piko Hammer is a family heirloom here.
  • Ascended Fangirl: After the events of the Sonic CD Arc, she is officially made a member of the Freedom Fighters.
  • Badass in Distress: Even though she is quite competent, Metal Sonic still abducts her on Little Planet due to her knowledge on the Time Stones.
  • Carry a Big Stick: When she whips out her hammer, she's a force to be reckoned with.
  • Damsel in Distress: Gets captured by Metal Sonic in the Sonic CD arc
  • Distaff Counterpart: To Sonic. They're the only hedgehogs on the Freedom Fighters, he's male, and she's female.
  • Fangirl:
    • Naturally, she is one for the Freedom Fighters.
    • She is also a fan of Honey Cat and her fashion line. Her signature red dress is one of Honey's creations, after all. This extends to Undyne's career as a model for Honey and Amy has admitted to wanting to be as beautiful as the princess one day.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: When she can't use her crossbow or hammer she will fight with her fists.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: She is shown to have a violent temper.
  • Related in the Adaptation: She is Sonia's sister here.
  • Summon to Hand: The Piko Piko Hammer is given a Mjölnir-esque treatment here, allowing her to recall it to her hand when thrown.
  • The Unishment: For her recklessness, she is sentence to community service... as a member of the Freedom Fighters.

    Chris Thorndyke
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/150px-Chris_5232.png
  • Child Prodigy: A twelve-year-old science whiz who helps create the Freedom Fighters' tech.
  • Science Hero: He's able to hold his own against Robotnik’s forces using his Nitro Glove that he made, a high-tech gauntlet that generates explosive energy blasts, and his technical know-how has saved the others on many occasions.

    Keith Kent
  • Big Damn Kiss: He kisses Kat near the end of the Sonic Adventure 2 arc.
  • Blind Without 'Em: Subverted. In chapter 102, Keith ends up losing his glasses, and while his vision is horrible, he is still able to successfully defend himself against the bot who shattered them. He later explains that while he's at his best with glasses, he can still see enough to get around.
  • Expy Coexistence: He hails from another fan-fic, Sonic Adventures, where he serves as a stand-in for Chris. Here, they're maternal cousins.

    Tekno the Canary
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tos_tekno.jpg
Avian Inventor. Original artwork by WaitoChan
  • Gadgeteer Genius: As par the course with members of the Brain Trust. She's also the inventor of Megatal, the series' indestructible Unobtainium metal, which she built for Robotnik against her will.
  • Hammerspace: She uses Warp Rings to give herself Hammerspace pockets.
  • It's All My Fault: She blames herself for Shorty being trapped in the Cybernik armor, as she made the Megatal that comprises his armor in the first place.
  • Token Minority: The first and (as of this writing) only member of the Knothole Freedom Fighters to be a bird.

    Julie-Su
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/162px-449px-J-su1_8356.jpg
  • Action Girl: She is skilled enough to defeat Team Chaotix all on her own.
  • Defecting for Love: Like in the comic, she betrays the legion out of love for Knuckles.
  • Guys Smash, Girls Shoot: Not that she can't hold her own in a fist fight, she uses a blaster while the guys (and Kat) use brute force.
  • One True Love: She is revealed to be this to Knuckles via the Soultouch.

    Cream the Rabbit
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/creamtherabbit.png

    Jewel the Beetle
A Museum curator and a friend of Tangle.
  • Nervous Wreck: She repeatedly stutters when she meets Team Dark.

    Cosmo the Seedrian

  • Adaptational Badass: Unlike being The Load in Sonic X, Cosmo actively tries to be more useful to her friends, even training herself to use her Mover Mode.
  • Raptor Attack: Her Mover Mode allows her transform into a large, plant-like velociraptor.
  • Ship Tease: As in Sonic X, there's this between her and Tails, though its more subdue.

    Tangle the Lemur
A hyperactive lemur, huge Freedom Fighters Fangirl and friend of Jewel. She later joins the Freedom Fighters not long after meeting Sonic and crew.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: She currently has no love interest in canon. Here, she's a lesbian with a crush on Hershey.
  • Ascended Fangirl: Much like Amy, Tangle is an in-universe example, being a fan of the Freedom Fighters that got to join them.
  • Fastball Special: She likes to launch people with her tail.
  • Freudian Slip: She lets it slip that she has a crush on Hershey immediately after they meet and is too infatuated with her to stop doing this.
  • Heroic Lineage: Her father is a member of G.U.N. and she's a Freedom Fighter.
  • Motor Mouth: When she first met the Freedom Fighters, she rambled for a bit.
  • Prehensile Tail: She can use her tail like a secondary limb.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She is noted to look like a younger, female version of her father Scrape.

    Lanolin
A private in the Hilltop Union Flock section of the Freedom Fighters.

Chaotix

    In General
  • Balance, Speed, Strength Trio: Vector is the brawn, Espio's the brains, and Charmy's the speed.
  • Comic Trio: Vector is the schemer, Charmy is the dumb follower, and Espio is the reasonable but powerless one.
  • Start My Own: When Sally proposes they join the Freedom Fighters, Vector decides to just start up their own team instead.

    Vector the Crocodile
  • The Leader: He is the official leader of Chaotix.
  • No Indoor Voice: He tends to speak in a shout, even on the phone.
  • Now That's Using Your Teeth!: He uses his gator teeth to chomp his way out of a cell.
  • Token Adult: Of both the Freedom Fighters and Chaotix, being in his early twenties while everyone else is in their mid-to-late teens at most.

    Espio the Chameleon

    Charmy Bee
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: He’s six and scatterbrained, so he’s easily distracted.
  • Badass Adorable: An adorable little six-year-old bee with the hyperactive, scatterbrained personality to go with it.
  • Beware My Stinger Tail: Unlike most bees in real life, Charmy is able to use his stinger on other animals repeatedly with no harm towards himself.

    Ray
  • Flight: He uses the flaps between his arms to fly.
  • Sidekick: He's Mighty's number two and best friend.

    Mighty
  • The Big Guy: Not the largest one on the team, but he fills this role with his strength.
  • Super-Strength: He is one of the hardest hitting members of Chaotix.

G.U.N.

    G.U.N. (Guardian Units of Nations)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gun_logo.png
  • Fun with Acronyms: Along with the obvious English meaning, gun is the Japanese word for "army".
  • Villain Has a Point: Although they raided the ARK and either incarcerated or killed everyone involved with Project Shadow, Gerald did make a deal with an Obviously Evil alien third party in order to speed research along. G.U.N. obviously wouldn't want anything bad to happen to Earth because of the ARK's actions.

    Commander Abraham Tower
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/41c271e268c7cdb6c6ba093a44b90d1c.png

Commander of GUN.

  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Unlike in the games, he doesn't blames Shadow for Maria's death.
  • Big Good: As the leader of G.U.N., he is one of the major leaders of the heroes.
  • Da Chief: This should go without saying.
  • Pragmatic Hero: His reasons for allying with the Freedom Fighters was done mainly to exchange resources and manpower than anything else.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: When Johnson attempted to force him to use Sonic as a scapegoat, he only pretended to go along with it to shut him up.

    Topaz
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/topaz_03.jpg

An agent of GUN and friend of Rouge.

    Agent Madonna Garnet
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/madonnagarnet_resize.png

    Rouge The Bat
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rouge_sa2.png
  • Affably Evil: She might seem like an evil, chiropteran thief working for Eggman and Shadow, but she actually works for GUN, which means that she was on the good side, so she's obviously not evil. She also acts polite towards her friends.
  • Anti-Hero: Of the Nominal Hero variety. She's a spy for the government, but is greedy, vain and expects to be paid with valuable jewels. The larger picture of what her actions might do to the world does not concern her.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: She's consistently treated as the most attractive character in the cast, and has the largest bust by far.
  • Classy Cat-Burglar: She is a renowned jewel thief.
  • Combat Stilettos: Equipped with metal soles.
  • Femme Fatale: She's sexy, and she knows it. She often uses it as a distraction or to get what she wants.
  • Greed: She loves jewels a bit too much - she wishes that all the world's gems were hers, and doesn't have a problem with simply stealing them. She has special interest in the Master Emerald, despite Knuckles warning her that it's the only thing that keeps Angel Island afloat. Omega notes that she has over five dresser drawers full of diamonds.
  • Hate at First Sight: Even before realizing they were romantic rivals, she and Julie-su do not get along.
  • Hurricane Kick: Her signature drill kick is like a mix of this and a Spinning Piledriver.
  • It Must Be Mine!: Rouge feels this way about all gems, even if they aren't hers.
  • Kick Chick: She primarily fights with spin kicks.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Upon meeting her, Kat punched her on Knuckles' behalf for all the times she tried to steal the Master Emerald.
  • Proud Beauty: Can be very vain about her looks.
  • Reformed, but Not Tamed: Despite her joining GUN, her jewel thief tendencies are in full effect.
  • The Rival: She has one in Julie-Su, for Knuckles' affections.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: She's not evil, but she's selfish and manipulative enough to qualify.
  • Winged Humanoid: She's a Humanoid Female Animal with impossibly tiny bat wings that she can fly with.

    Shard
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shard_8195.png

    Dr. Sarah Bennett

    Shadow the Hedgehog

    E- 123 Omega
  • Arch-Enemy: He considers Eggman one, but it's one sided and Eggman doesn't see him as a threat.
  • The Big Guy: As his size and firepower should tell you, he's the muscle of Team Dark.
  • Blood Knight: As expected of a war machine, he loves battle and blood-shed.
  • Lethal Chef: Last time he cooked, he oversalted the soft pretzels.
  • More Dakka: Like canon, his solution to a problem is more fire power.

    Hope Kintobor

Other Allies

    Uncle Chuck
  • Batman Gambit: He feigns breaking through his programing to trap Sonic, knowing he loves him too much to not fall for it.
  • Mentor Archetype: He serves as this to Sonic, helping him find different ways to use his powers.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: His years of service and attempts to use roboticisation to heal the sick have him be roboticized by a man he once called a friend.
  • Unwilling Roboticisation: Like many other works, he is turned into a Robian against his will.

    Relic
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/modern_chaotix_relicpika_001_resize.png
  • Adventurer Archaeologist: She often tags along on Sonic's adventures just to study ancient cultures.
  • Ditzy Genius: She is a bit... out there, but is incredibly knowledgeable about the Chaos Emeralds and ancient cultures, like the Echidnas.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Due to all the time she spent doing archaeology, she was unaware of Robotnik's rise to power at first.

    Fiona Fox
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Fiona_6728.png
  • Adaptational Heroism: Since she wasn't accidentally abandoned by Sonic, she starts off as a true ally here.
  • Berserk Button: Eggman is this for her.
  • Devious Daggers: During her fight with Sonic and co., she uses daggers empowered by Heat Opals.
  • Heel–Face Revolving Door: When she returns after a long absence, she has teamed up with Team Hooligan, only to turn against them the next chapter when she learns they work for Eggman.
  • Leg Focus: Fiona admits that she takes great pride in her legs and doesn't wear pants so she can show them off.
  • Point of Divergence: Since she wasn't accidentally left behind by Sonic, she won't develop the same abandonment issues her canon self did.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Unlike her Archie Comic's self, she wasn't accidentally left behind when Sonic saved Mighty and Ray from Robotnik.

    Tom Wachowski

Sheriff Thomas Michael Wachowski

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sonicthehedgehog2020tomwachowski.png

    Dr. Sorders

    Big the Cat
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bigthecat.png
  • Action Survivor: Unlike the rest of the cast in the Sonic Adventure adaptation, who are all trying to stop Eggman (or in Amy and Gamma's case, helping a bird and finding its family respectively), Big is just someone who got caught up in the conflict because his pet was possessed by Chaos and he went on a journey to find him.
  • Berserk Button: Don't threaten his frog or his friends.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: It's not nice to tease Big's friends.
  • Big Fun: Big is very easy-going and fun to be around. He even lets people ride on his shoulders.
  • The Big Guy: He's about as strong as you would expect a guy his size to be. He's even named Big.
  • Dumb Muscle: Subverted, as Big is more of a slow thinker as opposed to actually being stupid.
  • Gentle Giant: Probably the most easygoing character in the series, despite being ostensibly one of its strongest.
  • Violence Really Is the Answer: He hates fighting and initially refuses to do so even when the others point out he'll have to in order to save Froggy, because he was born amongst the Felidae, a race of Blood Knights, and wanted to get away from it. The Freedom Fighters and Chaotix gently convince him that it's okay to fight to protect his loved ones and friends, and that people like Robotnik can't be reasoned with.

    Blaze the Cat

    Silver the Hedgehog

    Clove & Cassia the Pronghorns
  • Adaptational Heroism: Unlike the comics, they weren't allied with the Eggman Empire.
  • Interspecies Romance: Clove is currently in a relationship with a female Zebra mobian named Piper.
  • Nose Bleed: Clove has one when she sees Hershey for the first time.

    Axel the Water Buffalo
Leader of the Engine Corps bounty hunters and Clove and Cassia's foster father.
  • Adaptational Heroism: In the Archie Comics, he was an Egg Boss. Here, he's a friend of the heroes.
  • Badass Biker: Wears purple and black biker attire, owns a motorcycle, and laid out Rough in one punch.

Robotnik Empire

    In General
  • Adaptation Expansion: Considering this is an Ultimate Universe, it goes without saying that this version consists of villains from every Sonic continuity.
  • Enemy Mine: They have been forced to fight alongside the Freedom Fighters to battle the likes of the Black Arms and Kodos.

    Dr. Ivo Eggman Robotnik
  • Actually a Doombot: Sends EggRobos to fight in his place more often here than he does in any of the official continuities. That being said, he isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Unlike canon, Eggman had the foresight to plan for the event he lost control of Chaos with Ice Bots.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Robotnik's former identity, Julian Kintobor. In SatAM and the Archie Comics, he was a megalomaniacal sociopath from the start. Here, he's more in line with the heroic Dr. Ovi Kintobor from Sonic the Comic, being a genuinely Nice Guy who wanted to help people.
  • An Arm and a Leg: During the climax of the South Island arc, Robotnik's left hand is crushed underfoot by Sonic, who's hopped up on negative chaos energy and become Dark Sonic. At the beginning of the Westside Island arc, Robotnik is forced to amputate his left arm to prevent the corruption of Dark Sonic's energy from spreading through his body.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Sonic, like always.
  • Artificial Limbs: From the Westside Island arc onward, Robotnik has a cybernetic left arm.
  • Berserk Button: Being called "Eggman", especially by Sonic and co., quickly becomes a sore spot for Dr. Robotnik.
  • Big Bad: Dr. Robotnik is the source of mostly everything bad that has happened so far.
  • Big Beautiful Man: He considers himself this anyway. He has dubbed himself Mobius' sexiest fat man.
  • Composite Character: Robotnik has the birth name and backstory of Julian Kintobor like in SatAM and Archie (and eventually gets a cybernetic arm like him as well) and the more heroic side of Ovi Kintobor from Sonic the Comic. He also has the Butt-Monkey tendencies of his AOSTH self when dealing with the S-6.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Eggman and Robuttnik. Also doubles as Malicious Misnaming.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: If their one person Robotnik genuinely cares for, it's his niece Eggatha. He has even gone to buy her a christmas present.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: While he may be an evil Mad Scientist with plans for world domination, Robotnik still has lines he refuses to cross. Best shown when Kodos escapes the Devil's Gulag; he barely hesitates to form an Enemy Mine with Sonic to defeat him. As he points out, even when he does kill, he's done so for an actual goal, while Kodos is an Ax-Crazy anti-human extremist who kills whoever and whenever he wants For the Evulz. Plus dealing with Eggman Nega’s destruction for fun and the Black Arm’s widespread destruction and their plans for the inhabitants of Mobius.
Sonic: Why should I believe anything you say, Robotnik? You've never shied away from drawing blood before.
Robotnik: Yes, but always with purpose. Always with greater goals. Kodos' actions are nothing but the pointless, petty rampage of a racial supremacist.
  • Evil Former Friend: He was friends with Chuck before he turned evil.
  • Evil Uncle: He is this to Snivley, Agatha and Hope.
  • Face–Heel Turn: He became a villain after being infected with Chaos energy.
  • Genius Bruiser: When the chips are down and the robots destroyed, Robotnik can and will take on Sonic with his bare hands. Best shown in chapter 22, where the two get into a physical fight in the main room of the Wing Fortress; Robotnik holds his own throughout, and only escapes when Sonic knocks him into the control panel, causing the fortress to go down.
  • Let Me Get This Straight...: His reaction to finding out the S-6 have been finding Sonic merchandise, thereby giving money to his greatest enemy and doing so on the same day he lost the Megamuck factory and several Robians.
  • Mad Scientist: He wouldn’t be Robotnik if this trope wasn’t in effect, now would he?
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Dr. Robotnik's Villainous Breakdown in chapter 41 is chilling to behold. Upon finding out Sonic and co. have beaten him to the Time Stones, rather than his usual Large Ham explosions of rage, he descends into Tranquil Fury, before descending into Suddenly Shouting, still with a smile on his face, before going back to a calm state and ordering Snively to ready his latest Humongous Mecha. He spends the entirety of the ensuing fight with the Freedom Fighters alternating between calm, screaming at them like a maniac, and outright Laughing Mad while swearing he's going to use the Time Stones to erase Sonic from history. Snively and the Freedom Fighters are both unnerved by his demeanor, and it's so unsettling that Word of God confirms he creeped himself out as he wrote it.
  • Pet the Dog: His Niece, Agatha. The one time he tries to avert this and punish her for leaking information that Shadow survived the ARK incident to GUN, Metal Sonic effortlessly usurps him in a calm rage which marks the start of the Sonic Heroes Arc.
  • Shoot the Television: After witnessing the Sonic tv show that portrays him as an incompetent Butt-Monkey, he uses a spring loaded boxing glove to destroy the tv screen.
  • Sore Loser: He shot a Swatbot for beating him at cards.
  • Spotting the Thread: He realized Eggatha betrayed him when she was enthusiastic to experiment on Lien-Da, yet wasn't even remotely interested in getting back at Kat for breaking her rib.
  • Villainous Breakdown: In the climax of the Little Planet arc, upon the discovery that Sonic has retrieved the other five Time Stones on top of Metal Sonic's destruction, Robotnik undergoes one; the entire time he confronts the Freedom Fighters in his latest Humongous Mecha, he alternates between Tranquil Fury and Unstoppable Rage as he rants about his plan to erase Sonic from history.
  • The Villain Knows Where You Live: He threatens to go after King Max's family if he doesn't help him find the Chaos Emeralds.

    Commander Brutus
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brutus_8174.png

  • Adaptational Dumbass: Unlike Sonic the Comic, he was never granted a copy of Robotnik's brainwaves.
  • Adaptational Wimp: In Sonic the Comic, Commander Brutus was an Invincible Villain; Sonic only managed to directly defeat him once, and only by going Super Sonic. Here, while he does defeat Sonic in his first encounter, he loses every subsequent fight.
  • Always Someone Better: Metal Sonic ends up becoming this to him. Despite being Robotnik's original lieutenant and being created first, he hates Metal for coming closer to defeating Sonic than he has and appears to have Robotnik's favoritism.
  • Arm Cannon: He eventually gets one by his sixth fight with Sonic.
  • Badass Decay: In-Universe. He went from Robotnik's top goon to a park mascot.
  • The Dragon: He served as this to Robotnik before Metal Sonic usurped him. He later serves as The Dragon during the Sonic Heroes Arc, when Metal Sonic overthrows Eggman.
  • Determinator: Not matter how many times Sonic defeats him, he will always return for revenge.
  • Elite Mook: One of the more powerful and intelligent of Robotnik's goons and a Mook Lieutenant.
  • The Heavy: He serves as the main enforcer and Frontline General to Robotnik's armies.
  • King Mook: He is a modified Trooper Badnik.
  • Made of Indestructium: His body is made of Megatal.
  • Put on a Bus: He was put on one after Sonic defeated him on Angel Island. He returned in the Sonic 4 arc.

    Snively
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/archie_sonic_snively_pre_retcon.jpg

  • Cain and Abel: He serves as the envious and murderous Cain to Agatha's sweet and noble Abel.
  • The Chew Toy: He seems to exist just to be abused by those around him, especially Robotnik.
  • Point of Divergence: He takes Eggman's plan from Sonic X to weaponize the Thorndyke household equipment.
  • Freudian Excuse: Discussed and defied in chapter 23. When they meet face to face, Snively tries to use his upbringing as an excuse for his conniving, backstabbing behavior. Sonic retorts that he would... if he didn't know that Snively's father had done everything he could to raise him right.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Snively becomes incredibly jealous of his sister Agatha as Robotnik favors her over him. This escalates to the point where he frees a captured Sonic when Robotnik quickly forgives Agatha despite the fact that she fed the Freedom Fighters intelligence. He receives a serious pummeling at the hands of Metal Sonic and is kicked out of the Robotnik Empire afterwards.
  • It's All About Me: Cares for nobody but himself and has gotten through most of his life by siding with the person who gives him the better offer.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: Numerous times Agatha has been aiding the Freedom Fighters to Sonic, and thanks to her and Hope usually blaming it on Snively, he takes the brunt of the consequences. But upon accidentally overhearing Robotnik finding out the truth, but giving Agatha no punishment, it's become clear that Snively has had enough of Robotnik, leading him to free Sonic from captivity out of spite before storming off.
  • Related Differently in the Adaptation: Hope is his cousin here, instead of his sister.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He threatens a little girls that collapses from being over worked.

    Grimer
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Grimer_144_1988.jpg
  • Affably Evil: Grimer is fairly cordial and polite towards his enemies, even in battle. The closest he has come to defying this trope is calling Rotor, Porker and Johnny fools for believing that his appearance is a result of something Robotnik did when in reality he looks like that because he’s from the Misery Zone. Rotor even remarks that he's a bad man with good manners.
  • The Igor: He embodies this trope - the hideous goblin-like appearance, the frail build, the intense and possibly undue loyalty to his boss (who, naturally, he refers to as "Master"), and the deep fondness he has for his work.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: He's loyal to Robotnik, Julian Kintobor or not.
  • Only Friend: He is Robotnik's only real friend and ally.

    Megatox

A vicious, maniacal creature made up of the viscous toxic chemical Mega Mack.

  • Blob Monster: His body is made of a liquid, however in his second appearance he had absorbed the electricity from the factory which allowed him to become solid enough to perform physical attacks, however when he is solid he can be hit by attacks as well.
  • Elemental Shapeshifter: He is a toxic liquid called Mega Mack.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: He went from a scientist named Jack Napier to Megatox after being exposed to Mega Mack.
  • Man of Kryptonite: Mega Mack was specifically designed to kill Sonic, and Megatox is made of it.
  • Me's a Crowd: He is capable of splitting into smaller multiple bodies, he can also merge back to full size.
  • Named by the Adaptation: His human name was never revealed in the comic.
  • Serial Killer: Graduates to this in the Sonic Mania Arc, where he plans to poison all of Westside Island’s water to kill all life residing there, much to the horror of Sonic and company.
  • Walking Wasteland: He's particularly deadly to Sonic because the Mega Mack was specifically designed as a weapon against him.
  • Was Once a Man: He was a scientist working for Dr. Robotnik on the Mega Mack chemical. One day in the Chemical Plant Zone, an accident occurred that flooded this scientist's compartment with the deadly toxin, while the scientist's body had dissolved into the chemicals, his mind remained intact, possessing the Mega Mack itself.

    Agatha

    Bokkun

  • Affably Evil: Bokkun doesn't really hold any real malice towards the Freedom Fighters and is not against having a meal with them.
  • Mad Bomber: Often sends explosive video messages from Eggman to the heroes.
  • The Pollyanna: Bokkun is this in spades due to his rambunctious and lively attitude.
  • Point of Divergence: This version of Bokkun was built by Agatha and not Robotnik.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: The messages he delivers. Other characters catch onto this and get nervous when he shows up. By the time of the Sonic 06 arc, it's become so common that Sonic nonchalantly chucks one of them into the canal.

The Super Special Sonic Search And Smash Squad

  • Butt-Monkey: Like each series they appear in, they exist solely to be hurt and humiliated.
  • Bring Me My Brown Pants: Grounder literally shat bricks after seeing Kat again.
  • Cannot Keep a Secret: Robotnik kept the truth about the Sunshine orbs from them cause he knew they'd blab about it.
  • Headbutting Villains: With the exception of Orbot, they are prone to petty arguments and yell at each other constantly.
  • Goldfish Poop Gang: All of them, with the exception of Orbot, are extremely idiotic and incompetent. Justified as Robotnik specifically made them to be Cannon Fodder. He admits he may have gone too far with making them Dumb Muscle. Sonic calls them this trope in chapter 147.
  • Know When to Fold Them: Orbot and Cubot both give up instantly when Sally and Sticks prepare to fight them.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Grounder states he's been waiting years to destroy Sonic, even though they have only been fighting Sonic for only 9 months from their viewpoint.
  • Literal-Minded: When Robotnik tells them to comb a village, they literally drag a giant comb through it.
  • Only Sane Man: Orbot is this to the rest of the Squad, much to his dismay.
Orbot: Don't look at me. These Badniks are nuts.

    Metamorphia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/metamorphia_2262.png

    Hard Boiled Heavies

  • Arc Villain: Of the Sonic Mania arc.
  • Elite Mooks: Among the higher ranked of the Badniks.
  • The Starscream: All of them towards Robotnik, who keeps them in line with self destruct chips. The Heavy King is the only one able to live long enough to try it. He fails.

    Badniks

  • And I Must Scream: At least some of them are powered by animals who have been trapped inside them and are helpless to do anything. Fortunately Sonic can set them free by destroying the Badnik.
  • Animal Mecha: Most of the Badniks are modelled after various kinds of animals. To name some examples, Moto Bugs are modelled after ladybugs, Caterkillers are based on caterpillars, Buzz Bombers are robotic bees, Coconuts are mechanical monkeys, Balkiries are machines based on birds, and etc.
  • Mecha-Mooks: All Badniks are these, ranging from Swatbots, to Silver Sonic, to Mecha Sonic, the E-100 series (Except for Gamma and Omega) and all of the ones that have Mobini animals as a power source.
  • Theme Naming: The E-100 Series are all named after the Greek Alphabet.
  • Unwilling Roboticisation: A great number of them are powered up by a trapped animal in their interior.

    Robians

    Tails Doll

    Nutzan Bolt
  • Bad Boss: He has decapitated his own men just for saying Sonic's name.
  • Berserk Button: Saying Sonic's name, he'll decapitate you for it.

    Kage von Stryker

  • Hypocrite: Kage is furious when the Egg Soldiers he’s leading show any sign of subordination or disobedience to him, their direct superior, leading him to start blowing them up by the dozen. But when Eggatha, his direct superior, intervenes and orders him to stand down, he not only disobeys her, but personally attacks her.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: There’s no denying Kage is an anti-Echidna extremist, and an asshole, but he nonetheless makes a damn good point when he calls out Akhlut’s hypocrisy in regards to his statement that Robotnik’s orders and the mission come first, not petty matters like personal revenge. Akhlut even acknowledges that he’s right.
  • Virtue Is Weakness: He states outright that in war, honor, mercy, and compassion are meaningless; the only way to win is by being ruthless enough to take the most extreme measures.
  • We Have Reserves: He forces the Egg Soldiers under his command to fight until their cybernetics start giving out without any regard for their personal safety, and then exploits their Explosive Leash to blow them up by the dozen, all just to win one fight with the Freedom Fighters. When called on it by Eggatha and Akhlut, Kage brushes it off by claiming that in war, they’ll only win by taking the most extreme measures.

The Egg Bosses

    EB-01: Akhlut the Orca

  • Adaptational Badass: Downplayed. Akhlut was always a powerhouse in the comics, but in the Talesverse, he's received a few upgrades. In addition to his mind-crushing telepathy, his repertoire has expanded to include telekinesis and force-shield generation.
  • Badass and Child Duo: Is shaping to be this with Eggatha, as he's frequently seen with her and shows a level of concern for her well-being.
  • Blood Knight: As in canon, Akhlut enjoys the rush of combat and takes delight in breaking his enemies in body and spirit.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: Has become Eggatha's combat instructor as of Chapter 223 and is described as very strict and critical.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Shows signs of this in Chapter 220, when he appears uncharacteristically solemn when talking about his mother, a former Warchief.
  • Even the Guys Want Him: Sticks states that men are attracted to him as well as women.
  • Hidden Depths: Akhlut is a sadistic, bloodthirsty warmonger, a trait he readily admits and relishes in. However, he has a strong sense of honor and believes that it's a leader's duty to protect their soldiers, as seen by his violent reaction to Kage using his cyberized Egg Troopers as suicide bombers. He also has a soft spot for Agatha, though he'll never admit it.
    • He's also a feminist, due to coming from a "primarily matriarchal" culture.
    • His ringtone is Black or White by Michael Jack Terrier (Mobian Michael Jackson).
  • Hypocrite: He lectures Kage on putting his desire for vengeance before following Robotnik’s orders and completing their missions, but he himself chose to prioritize getting revenge on Sonic for his defeat in Meropis over their mission, even Mind Raping Sonic to stop him from abandoning their fight to stop Kage’s madness. Kage of all people rightfully calls him out on it.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Exploited in-universe. Eggatha secretly took nude pictures of him and posted them on social media as a prank, which quickly became popular (disturbingly so). Eggman decided to capitalize on this by selling prints and merchandise. He's even be voted the sexiest man in Meropis 25 years running.
  • Older Than They Look: Akhlut is 46, but looks younger.
  • Psychic Powers: His powers includes telekinesis, telepathy and forcefield generation.
  • Red Baron: He's known throughout Mobius as "the Beast of the Boreal", "the Northern Demon", and his most well-known epithet, "Black Ice".
  • Tsundere: Akhlut only protects Agatha because it's part of his job, nothing more.
  • Villain Forgot to Level Grind: Averted hard. Between his first loss against Sonic during the Meropis mini-arc and his reappearance in Chapter 220, Akhlut had been travelling across Mobius, training and meditating. When him and Sonic face off again, he's able to keep up with the hedgehog while swimming, but perceive him at super speed and tank his Spin Dash and Chaos Lightning like it's nothing. He's even described as training in his spare time in future chapters.

    Mordred Hood

    Grand Battle Kukku XV
An Egg Boss and head of the Battle Kukku fleet.
  • Arc Villain: He's one of the main villains of the Tail's Adventure Arc.

    Thunderbolt the Chinchilla
An Egg Boss and a massive fan of Robotnik.
  • Ax-Crazy: Very much so. The slightest word against Robotnik sends her into a homicidal rage.
  • Berserk Button: Bad mouthing Eggman is a quick way to piss her off.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Decided to attempt an assassination on Mina Mongoose because Robotnik hates her music.
  • Near-Villain Victory: Outlasted Dark Sonic, badly wounded Mina Mongoose and defeated the Freedom Fighters. If Robotnik hadn’t decided to rein her in, Sonic and company would be dead.
  • Shock and Awe: She's able to control electrical fields.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Robotnik.

    Tundra
Egg Boss of the Tundra and Rotor's father.
  • Archnemesis Dad: He and his son Rotor do not get along.
  • Unseen No More: Was mentioned by Eggatha during the meeting at the end of Chapter 223, but didn't make a physical appearance until The Icy Saga.

    The Dust Baron
Egg Boss of the Wyldwest Egg Militia, aka the "Dust Riders".

    Beauregarde Rabbot

  • Anti-Villain: Much like in canon he is a good guy despite being an Egg Boss, but for a different reason. It's stated that Julian Kintobor had Beauregarde have a Heel–Face Turn once, and Beauregarde joined the Eggman Empire to try and return the favor. He gets along rather quickly with Agatha for this reason.

Egg Soldiers

    Wyldwest Egg Militia/Dust Riders

The Diablo Kid

Former Egg Boss of the Dust Riders. A violent psychopath with strong anti-Aurora sentiments.

  • Ax-Crazy: Anyone who blows up churches and threatens to violently murder anyone who so much as mentions Aurora’s name is far from the epitome of mental health.
    • In Chapter 246, he kills a man by gouging his eye out with a lollipop stick and shoving it into his brain, then blows a guy's fingers off when he tries to retaliate.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Played with. While his friendly attitude toward his squad is genuine, when he first meets Cream, Kid puts on a benevolent, friendly act. The instant they come face to face with Sonic at Tranquil Gulch though, Kid doesn’t hesitate to bodily throw Cream at Sonic before dropping the act to reveal his true psychotic self, reminding Cream that he did warn her about trusting him.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Has no qualms using toxic bullets against his enemies if it means taking them down.
  • Friend to All Children: On the way to Tranquil Gulch, he was shown to be very nice to Cream and fellow Dust Rider Matilda the Armadillo, and before they arrive, he prays to Aurora (who he absolutely despises) to let the ride last forever so the former doesn't have to find how he's really like.
  • Insane Equals Violent: The Kid is clearly unbalanced and has a penchant for lethal violence. The readers first get a glimpse of his more violent side when he gouges a bar patron’s eye out with a lollipop stick, then threatens to shoot a bartender simply for praying to Aurora in his presence. He's even shown using his Devil's Eye, which causes anyone who looks at it to witness horrific, nightmare visions, on himself in the last scene of Chapter 251.
  • Mind Rape: His Devil’s Eye forces whoever sees it to endure horrific visions. When he uses it on Sonic, he perceives Tranquil Gulch burned down, his friends as bullet-riddled zombies, and the Kid himself as a literal demon.
  • Psycho for Hire: The Diablo Kid serves Robotnik and is the former Egg Boss of Wyldwest, but as his interactions with Thunderbolt and Sonic show, he could care less about Robotnik’s orders and only works for the Egg Army to have opportunities to cause havoc.
  • Rage Against the Heavens: The Kid’s defining trait is his utter hatred of Aurora and her teachings. He styles himself as a demon from Hell and goes so far as to threaten to shoot a bartender dead simply for praying and mentioning Aurora’s name in his presence. When talking to Sonic about him, Mayor Chestnut reveals that this tendency of his is nothing new, and a mere week before, he rigged a church pew in Mirage Saloon to explode.
  • Shout-Out: His design draws heavily from the Gung-Ho Guns (fitting given the Dust Riders' Trigun references) and Manga/Hellsing.
    • Kid wears a long coat and "fiery red glasses" similar to Alucard.
    • His Devil's Gaze's ability to create illusions appears to be a nod to Dominique the Cyclops (albeit taken to extremes), but is functionally more in line with Zorin Blitz.
  • Token Human: Is the first and so far only Egg Boss to be human.

Dark Legion

    In General
  • Cult: Knuckles has referred to them as such.
  • Cyborg: Anyone who is part of this faction will always have some cybernetic item attached or replacing their organic parts.
  • Renegade Splinter Faction: They're a renegade faction of the Echidna society dating back to the days of Edmund and Dimitri. Edmund's genealogy spawned the Brotherhood while Dimitri's spawned the Legion.

    Dimitri

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/200px-Dimitri_Issue_-184_3631.jpg

A distant ancestor of Knuckles, Lien-Da, and Julie-Su. Spent several centuries as the Chaos-empowered demigod Enerjak.

  • Cyborg: One of few Echidnas still with their original Dark Legion cybernetics.
  • A God Am I: When he became Enerjak, he declared himself a god.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: Was a pretty okay guy until he became Enerjak, at which point he completely lost it.

    Lien-Da
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Lien-Da_3090.png

Power mad older sister of Julie-Su and Grandmaster of the Dark Egg Legion. Despises her little sister (the feeling is very mutual).

  • Adaptational Badass: Unlike her Archie Comic's self, she is a Dark Action Girl from the start.
  • Control Freak: Actually has nothing against robbing the sentience of her clan to get them to follow her orders.
  • Cyborg: Though not as apparent as most Legionaries. Ian Flynn states that she didn't want to alter her appearance too much and most of her cyborg additions are internal or covered under clothing.
  • Lightning Lash: She gained an electric whip after Eggatha upgraded her.
  • Mole in Charge: Lien-Da becomes one for Robotnik after taking over the Dark Legion from her brother Kragok.
  • The Starscream: She uses the upgrades Eggatha gave her to overthrow Kragok.

Other Villains

    Kodos
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2020_07_22_kodos03_webp_webp_image_567_641_pixels.png
  • Adaptational Badass: In the revised version of his arc. Kodos was no slouch in canon, but in the Talesverse (post-r), he's tough enough to tank being electrocuted, strong enough to dent Brutus' Megatal chassis 'with his bare hands', and managed to keep fighting a little bit longer due to being shot in the head. Robotnik even mentions that the only reason Kodos lost was because he jumped the gun and attacked Station Square as soon as he escaped instead of taking time to rest and regain his full strength.
  • Ax-Crazy: Kodos fought on the front lines of the Great War so that he could have an excuse to kill people. He is addicted to killing anything and anyone around him, with special mention going to humans and those associated with them. It’s so bad that Robotnik helps Sonic and the Freedom Fighters get rid of him.
  • The Berserker: Tended to resort to most problems with his axe, and relished every minute of it.
  • The Dreaded: Kodos, a Sociopathic Soldier who was imprisoned for war crimes after the Great War. When he breaks out of the Devil's Gulag, both Mobotropolis and Station Square almost immediately go on lockdown. Sonic is desperate to keep Kat, Chris, and Keith out of the fight for their own safety, to no avail, and Robotnik barely hesitates to offer an Enemy Mine with Sonic and the Freedom Fighters to take him down.
  • Fantastic Racism: Kodos believes humans to be inferior to his species, the Mobians. After escaping the Devil’s Gulag, a prison that was supposed to be completely and utterly inescapable, his internal monologue reveals that he was planning to wipe out all of humankind out of nothing but racism and murderous glee. When Sonic, Kat and the rest of the Freedom Fighters are battling him, he actually boasts about this plan.
  • Knight of Cerebus: There is nothing funny about him at all. He is nothing short of a mass murdering sadist that loves murdering women and children.
  • Loves the Sound of Screaming: Kodos, who fought on the front lines of the Great War just to have a free pass to kill people, once blindfolded and beat up an entire squadron of human soldiers that had already surrendered. He also took off their blindfolds so that he could see the look of fear in their eyes before killing them.
  • Sociopathic Soldier: Big time. As Sonic and Sally explain, he hates humans so much that he joined the Royal Army during the Great War solely so he could have a free pass to kill him. This resulted in him wracking up enough war crimes to land him in the Devil's Gulag for life.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Kodos has absolutely no problem with harming kids as evidenced with his aforementioned goals of the Genocide of the human race and his fight with Kat, a young girl. He came dangerously close to killing Kat with his axe when the two fought and would’ve done so had he not been interrupted by Robotnik. To get revenge on King Max for being one of the people who imprisoned him, he planned to snap his daughter’s neck.

    Ixis Naugus
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/6065ac63_eae3_4c51_8a06_b465943f0427.png
  • The Dreaded: Is so feared that even Robotnik is scared of him.
  • Emotion Bomb: Does this to the Freedom Fighters when they confront him, though Sonic and Knuckles aren’t affected by it at all. Some of them...not so much.
  • Evil Sorcerer: Can use many types of magic which he utilizes to great effect.
  • Point of Divergence: Since he was already imprisoned at the time, he didn't help Robotnik overthrow King Max, causing him to fail here.
  • Mind Manipulation: Robotnik claims that he is capable of this. Given the Emotion Bomb listed above and what he did to Metal Sonic, Robotnik was absolutely right.
  • Outside-Genre Foe: He displays this perfectly when he first appears. Up to that point, Sonic and the Freedom Fighters have largely only faced petty criminals and Robotnik's Mecha-Mooks. They've never faced a truly mystical/supernatural entity like Naugus before and thus have a difficult time fighting him, especially when he unleashes an Emotion Bomb spell.
  • Outside-Context Problem: He proves himself to be this as up to the point when he escaped the Zone of Silence, Sonic and his allies have only fought the likes of Robotnik (Who they pulled an Enemy Mine with in order to stop Ixis Naugus), his Mecha-Mooks and the rest of his Empire, other technologically advanced foes, strong criminals, bounty hunters and a demented warlord, Ixis Naugus has access to powerful magic and is very good at using it, even effortlessly defeating Metal Sonic.
  • Taken for Granite: Can encase living beings and things in Crystal, including the likes of Metal Sonic.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He decides to go after Eggatha and Sally to hurt Robotnik and King Max respectively.

    Chaos
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chaos0_3.png
Click here to see Perfect Chaos
  • Attack Its Weak Point: All of his forms share one singular weakness: His exposed brain, the only part of his body tangible enough to attack.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Chaos 0 is barely taller than Sonic. His Perfect form grows to be higher than a skyscraper.
  • Berserk Button: Don't threaten Chao. Ever.
  • Beware My Stinger Tail: Chaos 6 uses its tail as only one way of attacking.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: Chaos never speaks and is perfectly content to be left alone... until you harm the Chao. At which point, the only thing you can do is get your affairs in order.
  • Blob Monster: Made primarily of water.
  • Combat Tentacles: Chaos 6 and Perfect Chaos have watery tentacles that they can form to attack.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Like in the games, Chaos turns good after his defeat in the ruined and flooded Station Square.
  • Making a Splash: His trademark ability is hydrokinesis. His first form is only capable of manipulating his body and small puddles, but his "Perfect" form is able to flood Station Square indefinitely.
  • Mind-Control Device: Robotnik uses one to keep him under his control. When it breaks, things begin to go From Bad to Worse.
  • Outside-Genre Foe: Zig-Zagged. Whereas Eggman relied on machinery and simply intended to use the Chaos Emeralds as a means to an end, Chaos was the first major villain in the series to rely on supernatural powers to achieve his goals, and unlike the one-shaded goals of Eggman, Chaos is driven by a vengeful rage to use its power to destroy the entire planet. Even Eggman is left at his mercy when he reaches his full power as Perfect Chaos. He also drove the entire Echidna race to near-extinction.
  • The Worf Effect: Despite his immense power, even he can barely slow Enerjak down.

    Dr. Amino

    Gerald Kintobor

  • Adaptation Name Change: His last name is Kintobor instead of Robotnik.
  • Colony Drop: His plan to get ultimate revenge on humanity for Maria’s death was to have the Space Colony ARK collide with Mobius.
  • Deal with the Devil: He needed a sample of Black Doom's DNA to complete Shadow, and in exchange, Shadow would help Black Doom take over the planet 50 years later. Gerald had other plans, fortunately.
  • Dying Declaration of Hate: Gerald's speech to the firing squad set to execute him, which outlines his Colony Drop to all of humanity, is basically his Disproportionate Retribution.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: The events of Adventure 2 are a 50 years old revenge scheme from Gerald to destroy mankind due to the death of his granddaughter, Maria.
  • Humans Are Bastards: Developed this mentality after Maria died.
  • Posthumous Character: Gerald was executed 50 years ago.
  • Tragic Villain: Originally a scientist who wanted to work for the benefit of humanity and cure his ailing granddaughter, but delved into a vengeful old man who cursed the world.
  • Unperson: After GUN killed him, he was basically erased from existence.

    The Biolizard
  • Flawed Prototype: Despite being an "ultimate lifeform," it's missing a few limbs and is dependent on life-support to survive. Not to mention it's much larger than Shadow, implying the latter's design is more space-efficient

    Dr. Eggman Nega

    Enerjak
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2020_07_22_enerjak_profile_webp_webp_image_954_1482_pixels_scaled_58.png
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Enerjak gives a major one to anybody who meets him. the GUN Fleet, the Egg Fleet, even Chaos can only hold him back barley. Not even Sonic alongside Tails, Knuckles, and Kat in their Super Forms stop him for long. It takes Knuckles unlocking the potential in him by turning into Chaos Knuckles to really stop him.
  • Physical God: Wiped out GUN Fleets with casual ease and took down the Egg Fleet with nothing but two words. “Stop” and “Return.”
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: He was imprisoned on South Island, until Lien-Da let him out.
  • Shout-Out: One of his Badass Boasts is this to Fused Zamasu.
  • Strong and Skilled: Enerjak is this. When Sonic and his friends turn Super to defeat him, they at first give him a harsh battle while stating where they have experience in fighting, he was nothing but a scientist. He instantly proves them wrong as while he isn't a fighter like them, he's had years to master his Chaos Powers; only Knuckles gets a unique form to defeat Enerjak.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Downplayed. While he has enough Chaos Energy to make himself a Physical God, he's still a lousy physical fighter, having been a scientist first and a warrior never; Sonic, Knuckles, and Shadow are able to outmaneuver him and land several good hits because of their greater combat experience. However, Enerjak also has decades, if not centuries, more experience mastering the Chaos Force than them, and deals with them trivially once he starts using his powers.

    Mammoth Mogul

  • Complete Immortality: His main schtick, thanks to the Chaos Emerald embedded in his chest.
  • Cruel Elephant: A villainous mammoth with ambitions of world domination.
  • Expy: Of Vandal Savage. Both of which seeking world conquest, as well as immortality after being exposed to a cosmic power.

    Black Doom
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blackdoom.png
  • Arch-Enemy: To Shadow, moreso than any other villain in the fic, as he is personally involved in the way Shadow came to be.
  • Arc Villain: Of the Shadow the Hedgehog arc.
  • Aliens Are Bastards: He and his people view humanity and Mobians as live-stock.
  • Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: Black Doom claims that the Black Arms are saving the people of the planets they destroy for their salvation, but they are really just using them as livestock, which he doesn’t attempt to deny.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Wiped out countless planets and fed their inhabitants to his race, the Black Arms.
  • To Serve Man: His end goal for the inhabitants of Earth and any planet he invades, as well as what he has already done to those on worlds he and the Black Arms have already attacked.

    Iblis
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/iblis_9.png

    Mephiles the Dark
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mephiles_the_hedgehog.png
  • Arc Villain: Of the Sonic 06 Arc.
  • Dirty Coward: The heroes outright call Mephiles the Dark a coward for not even trying to fight them directly and killing Sonic with a cheap shot from behind. Mephiles denies it and claims this is just him being intelligent.
  • Hero Killer: He kills Sonic, causing Elise to cry, thus freeing Iblis, which leads to him merging with it to become Solaris once more.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Like in canon, he manipulates Silver into trying to kill Sonic.
  • The Sociopath: In his eyes, the universe and everyone else around him are his stress balls, and he will squeeze them until they break.

    Solaris
  • Adaptational Heroism: The true Solaris is a genuinely benevolent deity of Soleanna, with the Solaris formed from the fusion of Mephiles and Iblis being a paleful imitation. The true Solaris and the Flames of Hope are restored when Mephiles and Iblis are destroyed.
  • Evil Knockoff: The Solaris that endangers all of existence, and by extension Mephiles and Iblis, is actually a paleful imitation created from the failure of the Solaris Project. The true Solaris would be restored when the imitation is destroyed.
  • God Is Evil: A time god that wants to consume all of existence and reset the world in his own image for no reason. Subverted, as it turns out this Solaris is a paleful imitation created from the failure of the Solaris project, and the true Solaris is a benevolent deity.
  • Kick the Dog: And how! When the heroes and Eggman begin collecting the Chaos Emeralds to revive Sonic and stand a chance against him after Solaris became whole once again, he viciously mocks the heroes and Eggman, ranging from Evil Gloating, to Evil Cannot Comprehend Good to trying to Break Them by Talking.
  • Light Is Not Good: A being of heavenly light who is capable of destroying time itself. This only applies to the false Solaris though, as the true Solaris is a genuine case of Light Is Good.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Wants to destroy all of existence just for kicks.
  • One-Hit Kill: Claims That his “Eyes of Solaris” are capable of this upon physical contact. We never see if this is true, and even if it is, Knuckles is protected by the Chaos Force, which ends up allowing him to fight them without dying.
  • Villainous Breakdown: His happens to be a Shout-Out to Zamasu. When Super Sonic, Super Shadow and Super Silver defeat him, he begins desperately screaming that This Cannot Be! and that he is an invincible, everlasting god.

    Erazor Djinn
  • Arc Villain: Of the Arabian Nights arc.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Discussed. It's implied that Erazor's imprisonment inside the lamp, and his sentence to grant wishes to a thousand people made him feel less like a person and more like property to others, fueling his hatred for humanity. Sally did feel sorry for him after hearing this, but King Solomon and Sonic are quick to inform her that while he definitely is a tragic figure, his crimes prior to the sentence make it clear that he has no one to blame but himself.
  • Pet the Dog: A very Downplayed example. While he did still kill Shahra when she sacrificed herself to save Sonic, Erazor did show a tinge of sadness at her death, wishing that she could've have been his queen instead of betraying him. Compare that to his canon counterpart showing zero remorse over her death and having the gall to insult her. This however, doesn't undermine that he's been just as abusive to Shahra throughout the story otherwise.

    Fang The Hunter
A hired gun and the leader of the Hooligang.
  • Hired Guns: He will due whatever job pays the most, be it robbery or assassination.
  • Only in It for the Money: Fang's general M.O. is whatever will make him the most cash, even working with Eggman if he thinks it will turn him a profit.
