Las Encinas

Students

     In General
  • Adults Are Useless: At a school that is mostly for wealthy students, low-class students are bullied by either condescending it girls like Lu or arrogant classist jerks like Guzmán, the staff present either doesn't give a damn about their wellbeing or simply give them a short suspension. Lu was suspended for two months for bribing a teacher into giving her the top score while Guzmán was suspended for three days, both ahead of the final exams, when Lu lied that he was the one who started a fight with Samuel over Polo. However, some exceptions could include Azucena (the former principal), Jessica (the P.E. teacher) and Luis (the head of studies).
  • Held Back in School: By the end of season 3, Samuel, Guzmán (for their bullying of Polo) and Rebeka (for her illegal drug business) have been expelled, and were forced to repeat the year in season 4, along with Ander, who voluntarily (and briefly) dropped out because of his cancer. Valerio was also expelled but did not re-enroll to take over the wineries in Carla's absence. Averted with Omar, who enrolls as a new student. However, none of them graduate, as Samuel is killed at the end of season 5 while Guzman and Ander are Put on a Bus. Rebeka and Omar (the latter would return in season 7), who also left the show, are the only ones who graduate (off-screen). So far, Cayetana, Nadia and Omar were the only students on a scholarship who graduated.
  • Making Love in All the Wrong Places: This school has had some of the characters engaging in sex.
    • Lu and Guzmán in the showers and were caught by Nadia, who used this against them to stop Guzmán from trying to have Samuel expelled from the school for his brother vandalizing their house.
    • Carla and Christian in the restroom before being interrupted by Polo who informed them that he had killed Marina.
    • Guzmán and Nadia in the changing rooms and were filmed by Valerio. The video gets to Lu and she spitefully shows it to the entire school to humiliate her.
    • Samuel and Ari in the P.E. room and were caught by Benjamín.
    • Sara and Raúl got busy in the janitor's room.
  • Popular Is Evil: Lu, Carla and Polo are the most popular students in Las Encinas. While Lu is openly antagonistic to the new scholarship students, Carla and Polo fall into this once Marina is murdered and they cover up the crime. Averted with Guzman, who is a bigoted jerk on the outside but deep down cares about his friends, and his friend Ander who is cordial and good-natured in behavior.
  • School Is Murder: Las Encinas has an infamous reputation of being known as the "school of murder", namely the deaths of at least three students, who would be Marina, Polo and Samuel, while in Christian's case, he is still alive, but got seriously injured from an intentional car crash. Later, at the end of season 6, a shooting unceremoniously takes place, nearly resulting in some casualties, including Isadora and Dídac.
  • School of No Studying: Given the nature of the show's plot, it's no secret that it focuses on the characters interacting with each other on the halls, outside of the school, inside classrooms, and so on, and are rarely shown prioritizing their studies.
  • Sins of Our Fathers: This school has some of the wealthy students whose parents are involved in shady business but they are either blamed or in the verge of facing expulsion, completely ignoring the fact that their children are innocent.
    • Averted with Guzman in season 1. His father was responsible for the destruction of the San Esteban school, but despite getting arrested, Guzman is not expelled. He is even bailed out near the end of the season.
    • Samuel in season 2, though it's more of a sins of our brothers because his brother Nano gets wrongfully convicted of killing Marina, whose murder Polo caused. As a result, Samuel is not well-received on the very first day back at Las Encinas and has to grapple with all the backlash from the student body, especially Guzman, the first one to greet him in a very harsh over-the-top outburst and firmly making it clear he wants Samuel gone ASAP. However, Nano's arrival at the school proves to be the straw that breaks the camel's back for Guzmán, who was now eagerly determined to have him done for already. Ultimately subverted when Guzman realizes Nano is innocent and teams up with Samuel to trick Carla into confessing the crime.
    • Zig-zagged in season 4. As a way to make sure Samuel will never get Ari, Guzman discloses to her Nano's violation of his parole while awaiting trial for supposedly murdering Marina. However, Ari uses this piece of information against Samuel on a debate about prisoners, practically humiliating him in front of the entire school and causing him to leave in a fury (since this information was already public knowledge). Guzman looks regretful when he realizes what is happening, and tells her he didn't think she would be capable of doing that to Samuel. Phillipe and Cayetana even express their disgust at Ari's actions.
    • Rebeka in season 3. Her mother is a drug lord, and she is arrested when Samuel gives the police evidence against her in exchange for his brother's freedom (although this later turned out to be a ruse). When Azucena informs Rebeka that the board wants to expel her, she doesn't take it well and blatantly rants at this injustice by pointing out that Guzman was allowed to stay despite the arrest of his father, whose construction company was responsible for the collapse of the other school Samuel, Christian and Nadia used to attend, and how Polo gets to graduate despite having killed Marina. It takes the intervention of her friends, who firmly threaten to leave if Rebeka leaves, for Azucena to change her mind. After Rebeka does get expelled, albeit for illegally selling drugs at the school with Valerio, Cayetana makes a rude comment saying she'd be better off in jail with her mother. But given that Cayetana ironically comes from a poor background but still joins in the bullying of the low-class, she's not one to talk.
    • In season 4, this is brought up again by Benjamin when he has the students fill out a criminal record form about their families for the arrival of Phillipe, resulting in him openly judging and humiliating her in front of the entire class. Because of the controversial measures, the students rebel against Phillipe, who tells Benjamin that he doesn't want anyone to be expelled because of him.
    • Season 6 has the Blancos initially having a hard time returning to Las Encinas, as the students are already aware that their father, who was also the former principal, killed Samuel, one of his own students, and have to take the heat for something he himself did and his children were innocent of. Virginia, the new principal, warmly assures them that they are welcome to stay despite what everyone thinks of them.
    • Dídac gets hit with this in season 7 due to the shooting that took place at the school. His family was suspected to have comitted the deed and both Isadora and Nico's mothers demand that he be expelled, but Luis, the head of studies (also revealed to be an undercover cop), opposes this as he needs him enrolled to keep an eye on him and help with investigating his family and Isadora's. Roberta also keeps blaming Dídac for things that were the fault of his family and the students openly demonize him. However, Roberta turns out to be the one behind the shooting and used this as an excuse to try and have Dídac expelled and separate him from Isadora.
  • Teens Are Monsters: Averted with Polo, he killed Marina which was unforgivable, but he's been having panic attacks and her harsh but true words about him were what triggered his rage. Played straight with Hugo, Javier and Alex, a trio of guys who introduce themselves cordially as affable guys to girls they meet. However, the minute they get heavily drunk, they take advantage of this by removing their clothes and raping them without their consent. It happened to Isadora (and they got away with it), and almost to a random girl at her club. Fortunately, justice prevailed and they were arrested. Javier was the only one remorseful for it.His other two friends were not.
  • Token Good Teammate:
    • Out of the popular crowd members, Marina (despite her later betrayal) and Ander are the only wealthy students who are nice to Samuel, Christian and Nadia.
    • In season 4, when it comes to the Blancos, Mencía stands out as she was willing to help Samuel and Omar out of taking the assessment test and was also against her father's methods of running the school.
    • The trio of guys who raped Isadora, Javier is the good one as he was truly remorseful for what he did.
    • Come season 6, Sara is also shown to be sympathetic, despite initially making fun of some of the characters and being in the toxic relationship with Raúl, who ironically is not a student at Las Encinas.

    Samuel García Domínguez

Samuel García Domínguez

Played By: Itzan Escamilla

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/8361466.jpg
  • Affectionate Nickname: His brother and those who are his friends, namely Guzman, Omar and Rebeka, call him "Samu".
  • Break the Cutie: He was seen crying when Marina was killed at the pool, and Marina's death had changed him so he became a cynical, and an angry young man.
  • Cassandra Truth: Nano and Guzman don't believe Samuel when he tells them that Polo is Marina's killer. At first.
  • Chick Magnet: He attracts several girls like Marina, Carla, Rebeka, and Ari.
  • Has a Type: Samuel and the Uptown Girl archetype: Marina, Carla, and Ari. Subverted with Rebeka who's a Nouveau Riche Tomboy and even lampshaded his type of girls in Season 4 premiere.
  • The Hero Dies: He died at the end of season 5 after cracking his head open while he and Benjamín wrestled violently over the SIM card.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: When Guzman initially disliked and looked down on Samuel, he refered to him as "the waiter", because of the job he took for a living, serve tables.
  • The Everyman: Definitely at the start of the show. He isn't rich like the other kids at his new school, and he doesn't have the intelligence of Nadia or the social skills of Christian to build his name there. Becomes less so after season 2 as he Took a Level in Badass as discussed below.
  • Expy: To Clay Jensen from 13 Reasons Why. Both are ostracized at their schools for varying reasons, and are prone to being justice-driven when it comes to avenging their respective love interests, but in the process they behave irrationally and even unsympathetic to some of the characters.
  • Fatal Flaw: His fear of abandonment. Lampshaded by him in 1.03. Due to his family background (an absent father and then a brother and a mother left abroad) , Samuel has a constant feeling to not being worth for anyone especially girls. That can makes him pretty clingy and stubborn when it concerns his relatives as Carla remarked this in their Short Shories. Made him a Insecure Love Interest by extent. Even at the beginning of the fourth season, when he begs Benjamín not to make Omar take the assessment test, fearing that he'll end up on the streets like an abandoned dog if he fails and doesn't hesitate to point out that he's already lost people that matter to him and he wouldn't bear the thought of losing another.
  • Fish out of Water: At Las Encinas, especially at the beginning. He's discriminated at the elite private school, because he's not from a rich family.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Samuel’s behavior in season three, he was wrong for bullying Polo and making his life difficult, but it’s understandable that he killed Marina and made Nano flee the country.
  • Love Triangle: Samuel is an absolute magnet for these.
    • Marina/Nano/Samuel.
    • Samuel/Carla/Rebeka.
    • Ari/Samu/Guzman
  • Moral Myopia: After Polo is released due to lack of evidence, he joins Guzman in a targeted harassment campaign against him in Season 3, full of petty public digs over Twitter, and even mocking his suicide attempt, which even Guzman didn't sink to. This is ostensibly fueled by his attachment to Marina and heartbreak over her death... But none of this acidic vitriol, noticeably, is aimed at Carla, Polo's ex, who he is still trying to romance despite her confession to covering up the crime.
  • Nice Guy: At first. Under stress, he can become quite unpleasant. When Nano tried to accost Carla—who he was dating at the time to attempt to string a confession out of—he beat his own brother black and blue. However, he is generally friendly and pleasant unless you give him a reason not to be.
  • Promotion to Parent: A rare case of the younger child filling this role. In Samu's own words, his mum looks after Nano and he looks after his mum.
  • The Protagonist: For the first five seasons, he has the most prominent story arc. It also helps that most of the other season 1 protagonists end up being Put on a Bus after season 3 or 4, but he has a main role even in season 5.
  • Took a Level in Badass: And how. Try and imagine the shy puppy kid from Season 1 seducing Carla or essentially becoming the leader of the group when Polo dies at the end of season 3. Season 4 takes this even further, as he is shown to be a more than capable student with a skill for persuasion and debate...within limits.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: In season 3, Samuel became a full-blown asshole, only because he found out that Polo killed Marina. Samuel started to retaliate against Polo, cyber bullying him with Guzman, leaving poor Rebeka broke for only four episodes and demanding Rebeka to threaten Polo. However, he returned to his Nice Guy persona in season 4.
  • Too Good for This Sinful Earth: The poor boy who didn't even last long in Las Encinas.
  • Tragic Hero: He's only good main character who had the worst in him.
  • What You Are in the Dark: At the end of Season 5, Benjamin presents Samu with an offer in writing. In exchange for giving Benjamin the copied SIM card, once Samu is released he will pay for his tuition, expenses and spending money for a degree from Oxford University, then given a managerial role at one of his companies upon graduation. Essentially this offer is everything Benjamin has promised Samu he can do for his future over the past two seasons. At this point, however, Samu no longer trusts Benjamin and refuses the offer

    Christian Varela Expósito

Christian Varela Expósito

Played By: Miguel Herrán

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/m000480294.jpg

  • Advertised Extra: Christian has his own Season 2 poster and also appears in a promotional image with Carla and Polo despite making his only appearance in the first episode, and being written off the show after that.
  • Ambiguously Bi: He entered Polo and Carla's complicated threesome in an attempt to get with her, and actually mildly annoyed that Polo is in the package. He learns to accept Polo's presence with Carla and eventually even start reluctantly experimenting with Polo by kissing him and once having sex with him, but it's clear he is experimenting more than enjoying and it's not clear whether he likes men.
  • Book Dumb: He's a terrible student since the beginning, not that he cares much about it. He even makes a joke about his bad grades at the end of season 1.
  • Class Clown: Very much a cheeky and humor-focused character.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Despite still being alive, he has been absent from the show since the second season's first episode, being the first one after Marina to exit despite being one of the three central characters of the first season.
  • Demoted to Extra: Christian in Season 2, mainly because of his actor Miguel Herrán choosing to focus on Money Heist with his co-star Jaime Lorente. In-Universe, he actually tries to report Polo's murder to the police, only to be silenced by Carla's father who runs him over.
  • Fair-Weather Friend: He goes on vacation with Carla while Nano goes to prison.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: He comes to believe that Carla does truly love him and is a good person, courtesy of her Bitch in Sheep's Clothing act, when Samuel becomes suspicious of her and says she doesn't trust him or Nano. Carla and Polo colluding with each other to frame Nano for Marina's death is what snaps him back to his senses.
  • Lovable Jock: Athletic and largely liked by other characters.
  • Odd Friendship: Despite some similarities in background and personality, it's never made totally clear how high school age Christian is the best friend of older career criminal Nano.
  • Put on a Bus: His last appearance was the beginning of Season 2 after being hospitalized by Carla's father and shipped off to Switzerland to prevent him from exposing Polo as Marina's killer. In reality, Miguel Herran left the show to focus on the more successful La Casa de Papel
  • Shameless Fanservice Guy: On his first day at Las Encinas, Christian exits the showers and walks around the school hall naked to be seen and laughed at by students to retrieve his stolen clothes. He even flashes his penis to Carla.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Christian's final scene from his hospital bed has him swearing revenge on Carla and promising to dance on her grave. After that, he's just...gone. Never seen and barely heard from again. While it makes sense given that he's probably looking at years of physical therapy to be able to walk again, it seems pointless to give him such a dramatic exit with no follow up.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: After his accident in season 2, given that Carla's father was the one who had him hospitalized and transferred to Switzerland, nothing has been known (to the day) about Christian's improvement with his physical therapies, or if he'll ever be able to walk again. Since season 3, he stopped being adressed by any of the characters, basically as if he never existed at all.

    Nadia Shanaa

Nadia Shanaa

Played By: Mina El Hammani

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/who_plays_nadia_in_elite_mina_el_hammani_1539019750_view_0.jpg

  • The Ace: Nadia became quickly the best student of her class surpassing even Lucrecia who stays this even after.
  • Always Someone Better: To Lucrecia, who is initially jealous because Nadia is an even better student than her.
  • Book Smart: Has very good grades, and she ends up winning a scholarship to Columbia in season 3.
  • The Bus Came Back: Zig-zagged in season 4. While Nadia is still technically in New York, she only has a few appearances concerning her long-distance relationship with Guzmán, before breaking up with him for good after realizing that it won't work out between them. In season 8, she is set to return.
  • Brainy Brunette: Has brown hair and is very ambitious and good at school.
  • Childhood Friends: With Samu, mostly due to his friendship with Omar. Even her conservative Muslim father has no problem with her spending time with Samu outside of school.
  • Daddy's Girl: Has a loving relationship with her father.
  • Dating What Daddy Hates: Her father doesn't want her to date Guzmán, who is not Muslim like Nadia and her family.
  • Defrosting the Ice Queen: Sort-of softens more as the series progresses and learns to support Omar's sexual orientation.
  • Dude Magnet: Guzman and Malick (sortaaaa....) were both in love with her.
  • Go-Getter Girl: Nadia is very hard working and ambitious.
  • Guile Heroine: Shown shades of this. She's a Nice Girl but she's not above use her cleverness to outsmart her "vilainous" peers as when she blackmailed Guzman about his shower hookup with Lu in the pilot to protect Samuel of him.
  • Ice Queen: Omar actually calls Nadia this, when she tells him to just suck it up and pretend to not be gay for at least a few more years, saying that he can't shut off his emotions like her.
  • Making Love in All the Wrong Places: She was caught by Valerio for having sex with Guzman in the boys locker room.
  • Odd Friendship: With Valerio in season 2. She's a good and serious student while he's a big party boy not good at school.
  • Pet the Dog: Lends Omar her cellphone for him to contact Ander after their father confiscated his as punishment for selling drugs at school.
  • Put on a Bus: After graduating, she leaves for New York with Lu and Malick to study at Columbia University thanks to the scholarship funded by Polo's mothers.
  • Single Girl Seeks Most Popular Guy: Well at first, Nadia had ignored Guzman's wishes until they become a couple.
  • Ungrateful Bitch: After failing a report, Guzmán challenges Nadia's father for not taking both her education and application for the Columbia scholarship seriously because she is constantly having to be in charge of the grocery store, offering himself to work there so Nadia can have more time to study. However, rather than thanking him, Nadia simply chews him out, accusing him of doing this for his own pride.
  • Women Are Wiser: Were it not for Lucrecia, Nadia would have very little problems as she's very good at avoiding trouble otherwise.

     Omar Shanaa

Omar Shanaa

Played By: Omar Ayuso

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/who_plays_omar_in_elite_omar_ayuso_1539020908_view_0_6.jpg
  • Beware the Nice Ones: When he's first introduced, Omar is shy and soft-spoken. However, as the first season progresses, he stands up to Nadia when she finds out about his sexuality and to his father as well.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Although he was too late to save Samuel from his death, Omar straightforwardly threatened Benjamin to kill him if he didn't survive.
  • The Bus Came Back: Omar returns in season 7 when he's offered by his college professor an internship at Las Encinas. He reluctantly accepts it despite past trauma.
  • Gayngst: Omar is terrified of coming out to his conservative father, and in an attempt to live free, he starts gathering money by selling drugs to leave and live by himself someday. He says that he lives in a prison already so he doesn't fear being arrested. The angry and hurt reaction of his father when he hears rumors about Omar being gay is enough to justify this.
  • Gay Best Friend: Is this to both Samuel and Rebeka.
  • Camp Gay: Omar shows shades of this in Season 2 as he acts like a housewife since he lives at Ander's house.
  • Closet Gay: He's gay but tries to hide it in the first seasons because of his conservative Muslim family.
  • Dude Magnet: He attracts a lot of boys: Ander, Malick, Patrick, Bilal and Joel.
  • Put on a Bus: He graduates along with Rebeka sometime after the events of season 5 and Samuel's death.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Omar's personality has started to become more easily frustrated, and a bit vindictive over the month after Ander left, thus creating tension between him and Samuel, reaching its boiling point when Omar votes to have Samuel suspended from Las Encinas for 3 days. As a result, Samuel kicks him out of his house.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: In both the short stories and season 5, Omar and Samuel often argue a lot while living as flatmates, but in the end truly care for one another. When Benjamin accidentally kills Samuel, Omar mourns the loss of his friend and turns on his principal.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Omar calls out both Samuel and Rebeka for being accomplices to Guzman in Armando's death after retrieving his decaying corpse from the lake where it was buried within.

    Guzmán Nunier Osuna

Guzmán Nunier Osuna

Played By: Miguel Bernardeau

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dpuc2tvwwaehbp9.jpg

  • Big Brother Instinct: Towards Marina, sometimes veering on Knight Templar Big Brother territory. He's fiercely protective of her to the point of physically attacking anyone who hurts her.
  • Big Man on Campus: He's the most popular student in the school. Initially, he only hangs out with other popular people, and he's also a Big Jerk on Campus towards Samuel and his friends. He gets better, thanks to Nadia.
  • Chick Magnet: Lu, Nadia and Ari all were attracted to and dated Guzman.
  • Childhood Friends: With Ander and Polo.
  • Did Not Get the Girl: At the end of season 4, He ends up by himself after his relationships with Lucrecia, Nadia and Ari.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Guzman wasn't aware that Ari would actually use the criminal past of Samuel's brother against him during the debate. He just brought it up to ensure Samuel wouldn't have her. His stunned face while this happened said it all.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Guzmán gets mad at Ander and breaks off his frienship with him for lying about not knowing that Polo killed his sister. However, they make up by season 3.
  • Even the Guys Want Him: Polo realised he was bi because of Guzman.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Though he had no fond feelings for Samuel, he makes it a point to mention that Marina and Nano deserve the trouble their blackmail plot put them in because they screwed him over with their secret relationship.
    • While his intentions were still for personal gain, Guzman was never on board with Ari humiliating Samuel at the debate by using Nano's criminal past against him.
  • Expy: To Nate Archibald from Gossip Girl, as they both used to be the most popular guys and dated the Alpha Bitch. Also, their fathers have comitted crimes.
  • Green-Eyed Monster:
    • His jealousy streak is obvious when he interacts with Malick (Nadia's boyfriend in season 3).
    • In Season 4, he became jealous of Samuel being clearly in competition with him for Ari. By extent, he frequently mocked Samuel and his jealousy leads to a Cock Fight between them in the season finale.
  • Freudian Excuse: He dislikes the scholarship students because one got his sister Marina infected with HIV, so while this behavior is somewhat uncalled for, it's also a bit justified in the fact that he doesn't want a similar incident to happen to his friends or Marina, not that she ends up being that lucky, though.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: When he gets angry, he gets violent, which has caused trouble in the past. His two closest friends spend a lot of time reigning him in.
  • Happily Adopted: Guzman's birth parents died from drug overdoses when he was just a kid, so he was taken in by the Nunier Osuna family. Despite not being their son by blood, Laura and Ventura often favor him over their daughter Marina, mainly because of her disease.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: He doesn't have the least suspicion that Polo murdered Marina and it takes Samuel's ignored warnings and his other friend Ander's strange behavior for him to start putting all of the pieces together.
  • Hypocrite: Guzmán calls Samuel out for not being a good friend to him, after finding out that he and Ari have been secretly seeing each other, despite the fact that Guzmán himself wasn't being a good friend to Samuel either, even before he and Ari got together.
  • Hypocrite Has a Point: Despite being a colossal jerkass to Samuel in season 4, Guzmán had very good reasons to be mad at him and Ari for secretly seeing each other behind his back and even tells Samuel that he doesn't know the true meaning of being a good friend.
  • Insecure Love Interest: Despite his assertive nature, he seems to be really insecure in his love life. In the short stories, he panics about the thought of Nadia being at New York, cheats on/forgets him. In season 4, he lampshaded himself he became worried about Ari having feelings for Samuel fueling his jealousy towards the later.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Guzman is a classist, smug know-it-all with a serious anger problems— he also cares very deeply for his friends and family, and tries to look out for them.
  • Lovable Jock: He's quite the Jerk Jock while in Lucrezia's grip, but around Nadia, his nicer side comes out.
  • Making Love in All the Wrong Places: He was caught by Valerio for having sex with Nadia in the boys locker room.
  • Meaningful Name: Guzmán literally means "good man", and Guzmán is a loveable chap deep down.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: The debate scene in Season 4. Guzman told Ari about Nano and Samuel's family situation to try and scare her away from him and score some points for himself. His facial expression once he realizes she is willing to use this information to beat Samuel by public humiliation says it all.
  • My Greatest Failure: He had failed to save Marina in the entire season one, he feels like this after she died. Later in season 4, Guzmán notices how similar she and Mencía are and calls out her father Benjamin for the way he is parenting her, which clearly shows that he is saying this from experience, especially because he is still haunted to the day by Marina's death.
  • Never My Fault: When Guzmán blames Samuel for the murder of Marina, as he had introduced her to Nano in the first place, Samuel strikes back by reminding Guzmán that he had previously turned to him for help on how to deal with her, only to be shunned instead.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Guzman made the mistake of breaking up with Lu by admitting that he cheated with Nadia, which gave Lu the idea of blackmailing her into failing her exams by threatening to tell her parents if she didn't comply.
  • Parting-Words Regret: The last time he ever saw Marina, they had a huge fight along with their parents after figuring out her involvement with Nano in stealing from Carla's father. Then abundantly makes it clear he no longer wants to know anything about her. This becomes a hard pill for Guzman to swallow once she is killed by his friend Polo. And blames himself for doing nothing to help her.
  • Red Herring: Guzman’s anger issues, feud with Marina, and need to please his parents make him a prime suspect as Marina’s murderer. He isn’t.
  • Rich Jerk: Definitely starts out as one. Shows signs of improvement through the series though.
  • Team Dad: Often takes on an almost paternal role and tone of voice towards Polo and Ander.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Becomes a lot less prone to outbursts and slowly drops his bigotry towards the lower class, even closely befriending Samuel.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: until Season 4, where he reverts to a lot of his old behaviours in his competition for Ari's affections with Samuel. While he isn't quite as bad as he was at the start of the series, it raises the question of how much of his Character Development was genuine self improvement and how much was Nadia's influence.

    Marina Nunier Osuna

Marina Nunier Osuna

Played By: María Pedraza

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/who_plays_marina_in_elite_mara_pedraza_1539019254_view_0.jpg

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: She falls for Samuel's older brother, bad boy and troublemaking thug Nano.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Not in the traditional way, but Marina's rebellious nature and impulsivity provides much grief to Guzman, who is (initially) loyal to their parents and tries to watch out for her.
  • Asshole Victim: To be fair, she did steal the watches from Carla's father and betrayed the people she cared about, so it's hard to feel bad for her when she dies. Carla even tells Samuel that Marina "did what she wanted" with them, yet she still gets to be mourned in spite of all the bad things she's done. Even Guzman initially believed she deserved the trouble she found herself in.
  • Black Sheep: She is treated like crap by her family due to being HIV positive.
  • Fiery Redhead: Marina who is rebellious and self-destructive.
  • Doomed by Canon: The first episode establishes that she's dead. The rest of the season is finding out who killed her.
  • Decoy Protagonist: She seems to be the female protagonist in the pilot episode, but quickly ends up being killed.
  • Dude Magnet: Out of all the guys of the show, Pablo, Samuel and Nano were the ones she attracted. Christian was implied to also have a crush on her.
  • Expy: To Marissa Cooper from The O.C.. They were rebellious troublemaking teenagers, did not get along with their parents and dated boys who were a bad influence for them. Also, they ended up dying on different circumstances before they turned 18.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While Marina's actions towards the people she cared about were unjustified and definitely not forgiven, she was absolutely right in pointing out to Polo that even if he returned the red watch to Carla, he'd be crazy to think that she would take him back just like that while sneeringly throwing this failed relationship in his face. And no one is surprised at all when she doesn't. She also rightfully dispels Lu's attempt to gaslight her after she told her about bribing Martin into giving her the top score.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Her efforts to help Nano while stringing along Samuel cost her her reputation in the end.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She is occasionally seen naked while being romantically involved and having sex with Samuel, and later Nano.
  • Nice Girl: She is by far the most endearing of the rich cast, taking time to get to know the lower-class students like Samuel and going out of her way to help Nano with his financial predicament.
  • The Protagonist: Shares this role with Samuel in the first season.
  • Posthumous Character: In seasons 2 and 3.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Despite her relationship with Nano, she really loves Samuel as he's the only person who is good to her.
  • Teen Pregnancy: She winds up pregnant with Nano’s baby.

  • But Not Too Foreign: Ander is of at least partial Basque extraction, as can be derived from his name (Ander is the Basque version of Andre/Andrew). His mother (Azucena) also has a very Basque first name.
  • Dude Magnet: Omar, Polo and Patrick.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Beats cancer and gets to leave the show at the end of Season 4 to go travelling around the world with Guzman. Omar also promises to be there when he gets back.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He was initially hesitant to aid Guzmán in beating Samuel's brother up for getting Marina pregnant, reminding him of how he almost killed Pablo, a former scholarship student, while doing the exact same thing to him after finding out that he infected her with HIV.
  • Gayngst: His arc in the first season is about navigating his homosexuality.
  • Interclass Friendship: It's never stated outright, but Ander's family are quite a bit less wealthy than those of his best friends Guzman and Polo.
  • Nice Guy: In comparaison with the other students, Ander was more prone to befriend the scholarship students, especially Christian, showing his kind nature. He even assures Samuel that he believes in Nano's innocence and secretly donates money to secure his bail.
  • Preserve Your Gays: He’s the only gay character along with Omar who’s the still alive in the series especially beating cancer while Polo and Cruz didn’t get it lucky.
  • Put on a Bus: Drops out of the school to travel the world with Guzmán in the season four finale.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue to Guzmán's red.
  • Straight Gay: To the point none of his relatives doubt about his sexuality before it's in the open.
  • Token Good Teammate: He's easily the nicest of the popular clique, especially in the early episodes. He's not abrasive like Lu and Guzmán, he's not reckless like Marina, and he's not morally ambiguous like Carla and Polo.

  • Alas, Poor Villain: Polo has been going through complicated stuff since the guilt of Marina's murder was starting to eat him alive, to the point of almost committing suicide by drowning, only to be rescued by Cayetana, the only person who stood by his side while everyone was trying to make his life impossible back at the school. By the third season finale, he was ready to turn himself in as a way to properly redeem himself, until...Lu ended up murdering him by accident. The group then decides to disguise Polo's death as a suicide, acknowledging that, even if what he did was wrong, Polo wasn't a murderer and wouldn't want Lu to be punished for a small mistake she made. It's not hard to shed a tear for him after his tragic death.
  • Asshole Victim: Averted. Not only did he didn't deserve to die, his friends especially the fans were sad about his death.
  • Awful Truth: What causes Marina's death is when she tells him that he's being used, and that even if he were to retrieve the watch, Carla will never take him back. This assertion is blatantly true and almost certainly is what makes it so agitating to Polo. In Season 3, he gives much the same bluntly accurate assessment to Lucrezia. with identical consequences.
  • Accidental Murder: He is the one who murdered Marina in a fit of rage. As Ander asserts to him in Season 2, one can't "accidentally" crack someone's skull open with a blunt object. However, it's obvious that Polo never wanted Marina dead and is extremely broken by how far he went.
  • Big Bad: The central antagonist in the story arc of Marina's death.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: With Carla in Season 2. Polo tries to escape justice for Marina's murder, for which Samuel's brother was framed for, but Carla spends the entire season attempting by all means to keep Samuel away from the truth, mainly seducing him to get him to back off, but as a result starts actually falling in love with him. It's eventually broken due to Carla, after being tricked by Samuel into believing he is dead, being unable to live with the guilt anymore and confesses everything to the cops.
  • Bisexual Love Triangle: While his Gayngst isn't as prominent as Ander's, he still struggles with his attraction to men. He is very clearly infatuated with Christian, and frustrated with the fact that Christian is mostly into their relationship for Carla.
  • Bury Your Gays: He was the bisexual character to be killed off in season 3.
  • Chick Magnet: Carla and Cayetana.
  • Dude Magnet: Christian, Ander and Valerio.
  • Childhood Friends: He has been friends with Guzman and Ander since they were children.
  • Died in Your Arms Tonight: In Season 3, Polo is stabbed in the chest with a broken bottle and falls from a floor above onto the ground. He dies after a tearful Guzman forgives him, holding him in his arms.
  • Dirty Coward: Meekly goes along with Carla’s plan to cover up his murder of Marina, even when an innocent Nano takes the fall for it.
  • The Dog Was the Mastermind: And how. As the show follows a clear A plot/B plot/C plot format with little crossover in the arcs each scholarship student goes through, a viewer who doesn't pay attention will be surprised when it turns out he was the one who killed Marina. Polo's collapsing relationship with the girl he loved and desperation to get her back, after a season of struggling with inferiority, was what finally caused him to snap when she threw that failed relationship in his face.
  • Evil Former Friend: To Guzman and Ander, and to everyone else. He becomes an outcast after everyone finds out that he killed Marina.
  • Fallen Prince: In season 3, he loses all of his friends and his popularity after being outed as a murderer.
  • The First Cut Is the Deepest: Despite falling in love with Cayetana and having some strong feelings towards Valerio, it’s clear by the end that he’s not entirely over what happened with Carla, whether or not he still has feelings for her.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: By Season 3, when he has been exposed—at least allegedly—as a murderer and everyone around him hates him.
  • Grew a Spine: A very, very small, but notable example. Carla attempts to manipulate him once more in Season 2, urging him to confess to his crime but to leave her name (and significant role) out of it. Polo gives her a very cold look and says to her face that, well, if he were to go confess, he would just collapse and spill the whole truth then and there without being able to stop. Translation
  • Heel–Face Turn: He finally admits it was him who killed Marina.
  • High-School Sweethearts: With Carla; in Season 1, this was his most well-known trait.
  • History Repeats: He dies in exactly the same way that Marina does: telling someone an utterly caustic truth that causes them to snap.
  • Insecure Love Interest: His desires to please Carla and explore his own sexuality lead him to bring Christian into their relationship, but Polo's poor ability to navigate his own feelings crosses badly with his (not unfounded) fears that Carla likes Christian more than him.
  • Jerkass: At his worst especially in season one when him and Carla manipulating Christian, then he cheats on his girlfriend with Christian.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Despite his reputation being ruined for murdering Marina, Polo was quite right in telling Lu, whom she blames for ruining her life after losing the scholarhsip, that her being cut off financially was entirely her own fault, especially for telling her father the truth about the incestous relationship with Valerio.
  • Nervous Wreck: He claims to have been taking medication for anxiety since the age of twelve, and when trauma over killing Marina gets to him, it gets ugly.
  • Pet the Dog: While he doesn't initially confess to Marina's murder, he does anonymously pay Nano's bail so he won't rot in prison for the time being.
  • Polyamory: He gets into two poly relationships over the first three seasons: one with Carla and Christian, and one with Cayetana and Valerio.
  • Really Gets Around: Despite a much less openly horny demeanor than characters like Guzman or Nano, Polo has more sex on the show than anyone else during his tenure on it.
  • Tragic Villain: He is the one who killed Marina, and barring Guzman, is arguably the one most traumatized by it.
  • Upper-Class Twit: Not the brightest character on the show, but from old money and has a more pleasant if condescending disposition to the scholarship students than Guzman at the start.
  • What You Are in the Dark: After spending a season being ruthlessly harassed (and physically battered) by Samuel and Guzman, hated by everyone around him, and used by Cayetana, he has a lot of reasons to lash out as he had before. Instead, he decides to turn himself in, only stopping by the club to let Lucrecia and Nadia know their scholarship is still in the works and to personally apologize, from the heart, to Guzman. Even though he broke up with Cayetana for destroying his chances at escaping his sitatuon, he still asked his parents to pay her way to college.
  • Would Hit a Girl: He kills Marina with a trophy only after she insulted him.

    Lucrecia Montesinos Hendrich

Lucrecia Montesinos Hendrich

Played By: Danna Paola

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/who_plays_lu_in_elite_danna_paola_1539021511_view_0.jpg

  • Academic Alpha Bitch: Has the best grades in her class until Nadia arrives.
  • Accidental Murder: She is the one who kills Polo in Season 3. Unlike Polo before her, she seems to have approached him with genuine intent to cause harm, wielding a broken bottle and threatening him with it. However, when she goes through with it, it's because she took her attention off of said bottle and her reaction when she sees it's pierced his chest is horror and immediate apologies, suggesting she was bluffing.
  • Alpha Bitch: She's the popular girl in Las Encinas, who has a mean and a haughty streak and look down all the scholarship students.
  • Always Second Best: She used to be the best student in her class, before being surpassed by Nadia, which is a problem because Lucrecia thinks Second Place Is for Losers.
  • Ambition Is Evil: She'll be stopped by nothing to get what she wants.
  • Amicable Exes: With Guzman in season 3, despite how upset she was over his cheating on Nadia and acting very coldly about it, they become good friends at the end of the day. Even when she learned Guzman was expelled with Samuel, Lu asked how he was doing out of concern.
  • Awful Truth: Polo enters the club in Season 3 with the intention of telling her that, despite what she did, he intends to make sure she still gets her scholarship. This changes when she throws a drink in his face and accosts him for "ruining" her...at which point he has enough and finally tells her the truth: that her situation is her own damn fault, and that nobody around her actually likes her in large part because of her terrible personality. Lucrecia doesn't take it well.
  • Big Bad: For Nadia in the first two seasons. More accurately, she is The Heavy in the first story arc while Polo and Carla work against Samuel to make sure that the truth behind Marina's murder won't come out.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: Lu is reduced to this as the first and second seasons go on, as she's solely against Nadia threatening her Academic Alpha Bitch status and resorts to merely immoral acts to get what she wants.
  • Blatant Lies: She denies to bribing Martin to Azucena, even though Nadia exposed this and Marina and Martin truthfully refute her claims, especially because Marina was there when Lu let her and Carla in on her secret. Of course, Azucena is quick to call her bluff and says she won't let Lu insult her intelligence.
  • Brainy Brunette: Although if it turns out she's not the brainiest in the room, she has no problem cheating to get her way.
  • Break the Haughty: During season 3, when she starts losing her Alpha Bitch status and suffering more consequences of her actions.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She became jealous of Nadia because Guzman fell in love with her so she becomes near omnipresent when the two have a moment. Also in season 2 with her half-brother Valerio when he seems close of Cayetana or Rebeka especially.
  • Daddy's Girl: She is close with her father and to being his favorite.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: She starts out as a standoffish Alpha Bitch but eventually softens up in season 3 and befriends her rival Nadia.
  • Evil Is Petty: Is she ever? She sabotages any chance of possible budding romance for Guzmán and Nadia by bringing up their initial plot of taking Nadia's virginity and paint her as a 'slut' to the entire school (initially putting a strain on them), then towards the end of the second season, Lu finishes what she herself started by spreading a sex video of her and Guzmán, which was recorded and sent to by Valerio, causing Nadia to become a laughingstock. Not only this, but earlier on she blackmailed Nadia into failing her exams or she would tell her parents that she had slept with Guzmán and tried to gaslight Samuel, who is quick to call her bluff, into believing that he didn't see her and Valerio making out, then threatened him in the hallway, suspecting that he had told Nadia, who blackmailed her back with "the Valerio thing", when in actuality it was Valerio himself.
  • Gratuitous English: Lucrecia in particular, makes this frequently.
  • I Have No Daughter!: Her father kicked her out the house for inviting Valerio in her house after their incestous relationship.
  • Jerkass: In the first two seasons, she's the most unpleasant character on the show. She's classist, bigoted, controlling, blackmails people without batting an eyelash, and holds everyone that isn't herself or someone she's attached to in contempt. There are some redeeming qualities in there, but they are few and far between.
  • Jerkass Has a Point:
    • Despite being a massive pain in the ass, she correctly suspected Marina to be involved in the theft of Carla's father's watches, including the red one that contained the controversial wrongdoings of him and Marina's father behind the destruction of the other school Samuel, Christian and Nadia used to attend.
    • Despite humiliating Nadia in front of the entire school with the sex video of was a very disproportionate revenge on her part, her anger of being cheated on by Guzman was totally reasonable.
    • She also felt genuinely betrayed by Cayetana for lying in her face about her class background.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She becomes this in season three due to her friendship with Nadia, even at the end of the season. Before that, she really did love Guzman as her boyfriend. She has her moments in season two.
  • Karma Houdini: It takes all of Season 1 for her to get a relatively minor comeuppance for her behavior, that being suspension. At the end of Season 2, Valerio takes notice of and loses patience with her Houdini status and dissolves it himself. Unlike Polo, this status ultimately sticks as she leaves the country and the show in Season 3 without facing any direct consequences for her ultimate actions.
  • Kick the Dog: After Valerio sending her a video of Guzman and Nadia having sex, she posted it to everyone she knows.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: In season one, after blackmailing Martin and spending most of the time bullying Nadia, she gets suspended from school for two months.
  • Moral Myopia: It seems like she's finally coming around to being a better person in Season 3, when she and Nadia are willing to take a stand against corruption by speaking out against Polo's mothers offering a scholarship to take heat off of him, even though she needs that scholarship. This results in Polo's mothers revoking it entirely, which Nadia takes with good grace, while Lucrecia instead gets drunk and rages at Polo that he "ruined [her] fucking life", even though she did this to herself.
  • Never My Fault: She attempts to get away with bribing Martin for him to lift her grades when Nadia exposes him by denying any part on the deed, but Azucena punishes her with a two-month suspension.
  • Parental Favoritism: Her father prefers Lucrecia than Valerio.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Does a VERY minor one to Samuel. Samuel and Guzmán get into a fight when he tries to explain unsuccessfully that Polo killed Marina and are seen by Lu who reports them to a teacher, who breaks them up and has them sent to Azucena, who is fed up with their situation and demands to know who started the fight. Lu falsely points fingers at Guzmán, who is outright suspended for three days (initially two, but got three when Guzmán protested this), but Azucena still makes clear to Samuel that he won't get off the hook so easily and intends to report the incident to his mother. After they leave, Lu tells Samuel that he owes her one, implying that he should return the favor of keeping a secret her incestous relationship with Valerio just like she kept a secret that he was the one who actually started the fight.
    • She actually comforts Nadia after learning Malick cheated on her with Omar, instead of rubbing it in her face. The Lu we knew back then would never do this.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Very Islamaphobic towards Nadia in the first two seasons, when she is at her most villainous. This bigotry is never directed at Omar, suggesting this is more motivated by wanting to antagonize Nadia than genuine beliefs—which really doesn’t make it any better. She also spent two years in Dubai, making one wonder how this never caused problems.
  • Put on a Bus: At the end of season 3 she graduates, is saved from going to jail for accidentally murdering Polo and leaves for New York with Nadia and Malick to study at Columbia Univeristy thanks to the scholarship funded by Polo's mothers.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: She gives one at the fundraising party by ranting about how everyone involved in her life lied to her in her face; Guzman who cheated on her with Nadia and showed NO remorse for it, Cayetana for her history of a con artist while posing as a wealthy student, and Carla, who has been distant from Lu, for her secret affair with Samuel. Even Guzman and Carla acknowledge how they have taken Lu for granted when they tell Ander that she's not coming for one of their usual parties under the guise of having a headache.
  • Rich Bitch: She's a classist, spoiled rich girl who is very proud of being part of The Beautiful Elite.
  • Revenge Myopia: Lu gets cheated on by Guzman with Nadia, but she instead goes after Nadia, not worried that Guzman cheated, but that her nemesis tried to "steal" her boyfriend. First, she blackmails her by threatening to rat Nadia out to her parents, then posting the video of them having sex to humiliate her.
  • Spoiled Brat: It's abundantly clear she's used to getting her way and is unfamiliar with consequences for forcing her way.
  • Sugary Malice: She frequently puts down other people with a fake and condescendingly sweet voice.
  • We Used to Be Friends: With Carla. At the start of Season 1 they act as best friends but in the next season, they don't really close anymore especially of Carla's side who suffers of PTSD post-Marina's death as she's an accomplice of the murder Polo. Consequently she starts even avoid Lucrecia.

    Carla Rosón Caleruega

Carla Rosón Caleruega

Played By: Ester Expósito

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/who_plays_carla_in_elite_ester_expsito_1539021096_view_0.jpg

  • Abusive Parents: Carla's parents see no problem essentially prostituting their daughter if it means helping their business.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Carla was by far the nicest member of the popular clique (after Ander) at the start of the show, but as Marina threatened her own family as well as Carla's, she takes a much more somber approach to issues. She eventually takes over as the Big Bad of the show, becoming manipulative and controlling Christian and Polo to make sure that Nano gets arrested.
  • Big Bad: Set to play this role in Season 2, as while Polo is the one who killed Marina, she is the one who takes control and covers it up. However, she was outsmarted and successfully strung along by Samuel, leading to her defeat. It's dropped in Season 3.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: With Polo in Season 2.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: With Nano for the first season. While she goes to greath lengths to both protect Polo and her family's reputations by retrieving her father's red watch containing sensitive information regarding his and Marina's father shady business, Nano, on the other hand, blackmails their families into paying the money he is demanding to settle bigger debts he owes to some thugs who protected him in jail.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Her Proper Lady attitude conceals her manipulative and cold nature.
  • Daddy's Little Villain: At the end of the first season, she shows shades of this. She didn't ask Polo to kill Marina, but she's happy to cover it up and pin it on somebody else to get her father's incriminating watch back. In later seasons, as her father becomes more abusive towards her, she turns on him and effectively schemes to get out of her father's control and to own her family's wineries.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: She starts off as cold to Samuel, before falling in love with him for real.
  • Dumb Blonde: Played with— she's not particularly academically gifted (unlike the other three female characters of the first season, who place first, second, and third in class rankings) and at the beginning of the show gives off vibes of the expected dumb blonde airhead girl so common in teen content. However, as the show goes on it is revealed Carla is actually one of, if not the most cunning character and is incredibly sharp and intelligent.
  • Dude Magnet: Due to her appearance, she attracted many boys: Polo, Christian, Samuel and Yeray.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • While she clearly refused to give Samuel any information about her and Polo's involvement in Marina's death and supported her family in covering it up, Carla was horrified when she thought that Samuel was dead after he went missing that she was willing to sacrifice everything to make things right for once (even though this was a ploy so he and Guzman could make her confess).
    • She was also afraid of her father when he threatened to kill Samuel if she ever saw him again, which made her act cold and distant as a way to protect him.
  • Everyone Loves Blondes: She is blonde and gets a lot of attention for her physical appearance.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Rebe reluctantly admits to Ander that she finds Carla hot.
  • Fetishized Abuser: Unlike Polo, her role in the three-way relationship with her, him, and Christian is largely to get her own sexual gratification out of it. It is clear she enjoys the attention, and convinces Polo to keep going even when he tells her multiple times he wants to call it off. She eventually dumps him for "cheating" on her with Christian, despite the fact all three were in a relationship at that point. See Hypocrite below.
  • Fille Fatale: Being aware of her beauty, she doesn't hesitate to use her sexuality with guys at her advantage as form of manipulation and submission. And she was 15 at the beginning.
  • Hypocrite:
    • Polo's multiple voiced discomforts with their polyamorous relationship are brushed off by her, pressing him to keep things going, even as people look down on Polo for letting her fondle another man in public. She immediately dumps Polo when he and Christian hook up without her the one time, making it clear that the relationship was for her own interests, and that Polo benefitting from it was unacceptable.
    • When the Inspector questions Carla about Polo's murder, she says that she loved him and would be incapable of hurting him. To be fair, Carla didn't pay a lot of attention to Polo and went straight back to ignoring him shortly after covering up Marina's murder, leaving him to grapple with the trauma on his own. She only got the latter part right, though.
  • It's All About Me: It becomes crystal clear in season 2 that Carla is more worried about her family's reputation when it comes to covering up Marina's murder, not because she actually gives a damn about the wellbeing of Polo.
  • Karma Houdini: She ultimately leaves the show unpunished for her role in covering up for Marina's death.
  • Lady Macbeth: Carla dumps Polo, which eventually leads to him trying to get back the watches from Marina in a desperate ploy to win Carla back. When Marina refuses and instead insults him and says that Carla “uses him,” Polo strikes her in the head with the trophy, killing her. While Carla did not intend this, she still immediately covers for him, and later brings the watch back to her father.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: Carla is this being one of the richest girls of Las Encinas as the daughter of a marchionness. And in contrast to Alpha Bitch Lucrecia (the other girl of the popular clique) , she doesn't look down the new students staying at least neutral and aloof. But that doesn't mean she's not silver-tongued when she wants. She does, however, have a much darker side to herself, which comes out in the later episodes of Season One.
  • Manipulative Bitch: At different points, she has Polo, Christian, Samuel, Yeray, and more wrapped around her finger. In the Season One finale, this extents to convincing Christian to help cover for Polo’s murder of Marina, and coaching Polo on how to lie to the police.
  • No Sympathy:
    • While Guzman and his parents are genuinely saddened about Marina's death, she's the only one at her funeral who does not feel sorry at all for her former friend.
    • She also belittles how traumatic the experience was for Polo.
  • Put on a Bus: Decides to study in London, however her flight is delayed as revealed in the short story. Eventually she schedules another flight, though not before having one last moment alone with Samuel and bidding him farewell via an emotional voice message.
  • Rich Bitch: Downplayed; she’s a marchioness’s daughter and an Ice Queen, but she's not openly snide or bitchy at all in comparison to Lu or Guzman.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Carla being manipulated by her father into retracting her confession about Polo at the court is what caused his mothers to intervene and fund the Columbia scholarship and use it as a hush money for those who were against their son studying at Las Encinas, which then leads to Samuel and Guzman unfairly bullying him, eventually getting themselves expelled and forced to repeat the year.
  • We Used to Be Friends: With Lucrecia. At the start of Season 1 they act as best friends but in the next season, they don't really seem close anymore especially on Carla's side who suffers of PTSD post-Marina's death as she's an accomplice of the murder Polo. Consequently, she starts to avoid even Lucrecia.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Her reaction in Season 2 to Polo asking her if they can get back together.

    Valerio Montesinos Rojas

Valerio Montesinos Rojas

Played By: Jorge López

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/valerio_elite_1024x739.jpeg

  • Black Sheep: Due to his alcoholism and drug abuse, he doesn't fit in with his family and used to be in a boarding school for bad behavior. It gets worse when his father learns about his incest with Lu.
  • Brother–Sister Incest: He and his half-sister Lu have a secret relationship in season 2.
  • Childish Older Sibling: To Lu. He's rebellious and immature, despite being the older brother, while Lu is a studious girl and his father's favorite.
  • The Hedonist: He enjoys parties, drinks and one-night stands instead of focusing on school .
  • Odd Friendship: With Nadia in season 2. She's a good and serious student while he's a big party boy not good at school.
  • Hidden Depths: Has a talent for marketing and is basically a born salesman. To the point where Carla essentially turns over control of her family businesses to him while she goes to university at the end of Season 3.
  • Kick the Dog: He recorded a video of Nadia and Guzman having sex in a locker room, dear god.
  • Nice Guy: His relationship with his half-sister is, well... fucked. But he's very clearly much nicer than her. Once he's in the area and has to see her on a regular basis, it's clear her abhorrent behavior towards and around other people is very off-putting to him, and he eventually decides to punish her for it by revealing their incest to her father, even though this will bite him, too.
  • Put on a Bus: Does not return to Las Encinas after being expelled alongside Rebeka, Samuel and Guzmán, who do return with Ander and a recently enrolled Omar at the end of season 3. Instead, he is put in charge by Carla to take over her father's wineries in her absence while she studies abroad. His actor Jorge López was no longer interested in returning for future seasons.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Fills the role Christian played in Season 1 as the resident hedonistic party animal with no real interest in his studies. The main differences between them can be attributed to their different upbringings, with Christian being working class and Valerio being upper class.
  • The Un Favourite: Is very much this with his half sister Lucrecia regarding their father at least until their incestuous relationship is revealed and he cuts her off too. It's also mentioned that he doesn't have a good relationship with his mother. Lu herself states that he essentially gets passed between both parents when either decides they can't handle him any more.

    Rebeka Parrilla de Bormujo Ávalos

Rebeka Parrilla de Bormujo Ávalos

Played By: Claudia Salas

  • All Love Is Unrequited: Her feelings towards Samuel are not reciprocated
  • Amicable Exes: With Samuel, although they're Better as Friends.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Despite her Brutal Honesty, she's a good person, except to the people who make her angry or hurt her friends.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Rebe is furious that Samuel paid more attention to Carla than her, Exaggerated when she solds Carla the drugs and made her fall unconscious in a pool.
  • Cute Bruiser: She's feisty, conventionally pretty with a tomboy streak and proficient in boxing.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She tends to snark at the other characters in many situations, and is one of the wittier characters.
  • Driven by Envy: In Season 3, during the pool party, knowing Carla's drug addiction Rebeka takes advantage of Carla by selling her drugs. The drugs she sold made Carla collapse and fall unconscious into a pool. Rebeca later admits in a genuine apology it's by jealousy she made this.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Thrice, to Samuel.
    • When she still won't talk to him after his past wrongdoing, Samuel asks Rebeka what he should do so she won't be mad at him anymore, and she tells him to do nothing. While his actions were to save his brother, Rebeka's anger at Samuel is totally justified as she almost had no money to fend for herself, and while no matter how sorry Samuel is, Rebeka is absolutely right that a simple apology doesn't let him off the hook that easily and she's the one who gets to decide the moment she's ready to forgive him. The only thing she's wrong about is that she rejects Mencía, who is clearly into her, based just on one crappy action he himself caused, arguing that his mistake shouldn't be a reason to not give her a chance.
    • Rebeka was also right to turn down Samuel's request to have her mother hire some thugs to scare Polo off when he shows up at the club, thinking he was only there to cause more trouble (when in reality he just tried to inform Nadia and Lu that his mothers reinstated their scholarships).
    • Also, she's on point in convincing Samuel that, for as long as he wants to see the Blancos, especially Benjamin, as his family, he is in complete denial about the fact that he's only using him to get away with his crimes and will eventually cast him out like a freak by the time he gets what he wants, even reminding him that his mother, Nano, her and Omar are his real family.
  • The Lad-ette: She's blunt, athletic, rough around the edges, tough, and sexually confident. Probably the least ladylike of all the female characters.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Rebeka quickly regrets selling the drugs to Carla when she falls unconscious into the pool, realizing she went too far with this act. Polo accuses Valerio, but Rebeka willingly admits that she was the true culprit.
  • Nice Girl: One of the more moral and decent members of the main cast.
  • Rags to Riches: She grew up poor, but her family became wealthy due to her mother's business in the drug world.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Twice. In season 4, she saves her new girlfriend Mencia of being abused by two men physically fighting off them in the fourth episode then the season finale.
  • Was It All a Lie?: When Rebeka finds out Samuel was the one turned her mother in to the cops, and thus left her without even a cent to her name, she asks Samuel if their relationship was just so he could get to her mother and his feelings for her were not genuine. Samuel's silence gives her the answer.

Cayetana Grajera Pando

Played By: Georgina Amorós

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cayetana_personaje_serie_elite_netflix.png
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Has this relationship with Polo as of the Season 2 Finale. He helped her and her mother at their lowest points, when everyone else had abandoned them. So she helps him to get away with his murder of Marina, by hiding the murder weapon from the police.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She's as inoffensive as they come by day, but put her in trouble and she acts.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She's managed to con everyone at school into believing she's richer and more popular than them. In an attempt to actually make that a reality, she holds a charity ball where all the rich donors' money is actually going straight into her pocket, though this fails.
  • Boomerang Bigot: Cayetana joins in with Lu on bullying the students who are from a poor background, including newly rich girl Rebeka, despite ironically coming from a poor background herself and attending Las Encinas on a scholarship (like Samuel and Nadia). She even disrespected her janitor mother whenever she tried to get her to admit to her secret. Cayetana grows out of this once she takes a level in kindness.
  • Break the Cutie: When Lucrecia publicly exposes her secret at the con.
  • Con Artist: She's a maiden who makes everybody believe she's rich.
  • Consummate Liar: She is a really good liar, managing to convince people she's a wealthy influencer and socialite despite being the poor daughter of a janitor. She describes lying as kind of like her own superpower, and in one of the short stories, her ability to bluff her way out of trouble on the fly actually saves her and two other students' lives.
  • Character Development: Polo's mothers offer to pay for her college education to thank her for standing by him when nobody else did. She turns then down stating that she wants to make it on her own. Try and imagine the Cayetana of season 2 turning down such an offer. Also doubles as a awesome moment.
  • Double Standard: While Cayetana happily agreed to cover up Polo's murder of Marina (whom she didn't know at all), however, she initially refused to help out her classmates cover for Lu after she accidentally killed Polo, whose death they planned to frame as a suicide.
  • Dude Magnet: Valerio, Polo, Phillipe and Felipe were all attracted to Cayetana.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: She's the only one, out of all the current main characters, who gets this in the season 5 finale when she enters a relationship with Felipe.
  • The Fashionista: Ironically in a series full of rich girls, working-class Cayetana appears to be the most interested in fashion out of the whole cast. In Season 4, she's studying fashion design part time at college while working as the janitor at Las Encinas
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Not originally, but becomes this after she Took a Level in Kindness in season 4 and 5, where she is one of the most kind and sympathetic characters, in addition to her blond hair.
  • Heel Realization: She realizes her mistakes at the end of season 3, and becomes a better person in the following seasons.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • When we see her dress designs in Season 4 it's pretty obvious that she's genuinely talented.
    • She also has quite a gift with social media, particularly Instagram. Her fake rich girl profile in Season 2 was able to fool her genuinely rich classmates, and she was able to learn pretty much everything about Phillip before he arrived just using social media.
  • Irrational Hatred: By season 3, she hates Samuel, Rebeka, Guzman and Lu just because they side against Polo when they abundantly make it clear they do not even want to see or look at him after being unjustly absolved of his murder of Marina. She even has the gall to say he did nothing wrong, but given her past immoral actions, she's not one to talk. Lu also shuts her up by asking if she should remind everyone what she did. She eventually gets better and in season 4 she is friendly to the characters.
  • I Want My Mommy!: In one of the short stories, Cayetana's lying abilities manage to fool two thugs, who believe she is an Ax-Crazy murderer, into leaving Rebeka's house after they stormed in looking for her drug dealing mother. However, Cayetana gets too carried away by the whole incident, starting to sob like a child and crying out for her mother, even vowing to herself not to tell a lie ever again.
  • Morality Pet: To Polo.
  • Mock Millionaire: Her mother and herself turn out to be janitors.
  • The Pollyanna: Generally one of the more positive and upbeat cast members.
  • No Sympathy: She doesn't show any remorse of Samuel, Rebeka & Guzman getting expelled, and harshly telling Rebeka that she would be better off going to jail with her mother.
  • Put on a Bus: Gets fired as the school's cleaner for sneaking inside Benjamín's office, but finds happiness by entering a relationship with Felipe.
  • Social Climber: Initially. She's willing to lie and even steal from other people, while pretending to be part of The Beautiful Elite, in order to impress the other rich students.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Only after Polo is tragically killed and she politely rejects a scholarship offer from his mothers, is the moments Cayetana decides she no longer wants to be someone she's not and growing out of her delusional fantasy of a luxurious lifestyle. In season 4, she is even on good terms with the rest of the characters.

     Malick

Malick

Played By: Leïti Sène

Nadia's suitor
  • Gayngst: Malick hides his homosexuality from Nadia's family in order to meet their expectations of him.
  • The Hedonist: He is well-mannered, but tends to party a lot and drink gin tonics.
  • Nice Guy: Despite being rich like the other students, this is his most defining trait.
  • Put on a Bus: Graduates from Las Encinas and leaves for New York with Lu and Nadia.

     Yeray

Yeray

Played By: Sergio Momo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sergio_momo.jpg
Carla's suitor
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Yeray’s crush on Carla stems from her staunchly defending him on an Instagram post when he was being cyberbullied. In the Season Three finale, he also buys her family’s wineries and signs control cove to her after she points out that he has nothing to prove to any of his old bullies and they break up.
  • Devoted to You: Yeray has been in love with Carla for years because she made a comment defending him when he was being cyber-bullied over his weight, to the point that even saves her family’s winery business.
  • Formerly Fat: He used to be overweight which made him a target for bullies. He likes Carla because she was the only one to stand up for him when he was fat.
  • Nice Guy: He's shown to to be nice and polite. He and Carla break up in a friendly way.
  • Put on a Bus: He makes his last appearance in the seventh episode of the third season, so it's implied that he had graduated from Las Encinas.
  • Rags to Riches: He was a poor Scholarship Student, until he became wealthy after launching a successful dating app.
  • Satellite Love Interest: Aside from his brief relationship with Carla, he never interacts with other characters.

    Patrick Blanco Commerford

Patrick Blanco Commerford

Played By: Manu Ríos

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/xlite6patrick_crop1669060994230png_1159711837.png

  • Big Brother Instinct: He was worried that Mencia would commit suicide all because of her mother's side, to the point if he doesn't come home to his family for christmas.
  • Composite Character: He's a mix of Polo and Valerio (the later being himself reminescent of Christian): he's rich, loves parties, uses drugs and had a complicated polyamorous relationship.
  • Dude Magnet: Ander, Omar and Ivan.
  • Free-Range Children:
    • He isn't the model child that Ari is, and is arguably even more debaucherous and wild than Mencia, but appears to be allowed to essentially do what he wants by their father. This may partly be due to the fact that he was bedridden for two years in the accident that killed their mother. It's possible that Benjamin can't bring himself to control or discipline Patrick because he's just happy to still have him alive and healthy. Still, one wonders how he gets away with having unclothed men in the house given Mencia's desperation to hide her own sexual exploits.
    • This is downplayed over the next two seasons. By Season 6 Patrick is clearly The Un Favourite among the Blanco Commerford children.
  • Freudian Excuse: He's a reckless jerk, but he can get some sympathy because of his sad family situation and drug issues.
  • Hormone-Addled Teenager: The amount of sex he has reaches heights unmatched by any other character.
  • It's All My Fault: Patrick remembers that he had failed to watch over Mencía, which led to her running away and to the accident that took their mother's life and left him bedridden for two years.
  • Put on a Bus: Moves away with his father, Ari and Mencía for a fresh start at the end of season 6.
  • Really Gets Around: He sleeps around with a lot of people.
  • Slimeball: His first significant action on the show is to try and swindle a man's boyfriend into his bed in exchange for test answers, and he later successfully seduces that boyfriend away from him.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Gives one to Ari for ruining her relationships when she can't bring herself to visit Samuel's grave and another after catching her having sex with Iván during his father's memorial, outright calling her a "filthy drunk girl with no respect for anything".
  • Mr. Fanservice: Played by Manu Rios, and spends more time in the fourth season naked than not.

    Ariadna Blanco Commerford

Ariandna Blanco Commerford

Played By: Carla Díaz

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sub_buzz_5004_1624579701_4.png

  • Academic Alpha Bitch: And how, right down to the decorations in her locker.
  • The Alcoholic: One of her defining traits in Season 6.
  • Ambiguously Evil: Season 6 ends with Ari getting Mencía, whom she believes (and Mencía herself as well) to be responsible for Iván's accident, out of trouble using their father's connections. But it's unclear if she still trusts him after he killed Samuel, while Patrick and Mencía keep their distance from him.
  • Berserk Button: More often than not in Season 6.
    • After Samuel dies, she is always annoyed at the mention of his name, especially when she hasn't even had the courage to visit his grave and properly mourn him for months, something her siblings call her out on. This is clearly a coping mechanism, when she rejects Bilal, Nico and even Ivan of all people.
    • She has the tendency to drink a lot of alcohol, causing her siblings, friends and even Sonia to be worried about this and try their best to help her out. However, Ari, regularly in a fit of rage, rejects any of this by telling them that she's fine, even though she isn't.
  • Betty and Veronica:
    • Being herself a Rich Bitch, she's the Archie to her fellow rich classmate Guzman's Betty and humble and good-natured Samuel in opposite with the natural standards of the trope. They're also a Rich Suitor, Poor Suitor love triangle.
    • She's also the Veronica to Sonia's Betty for Nico, the Archie.
  • Big Sister Instinct:
    • At least thrice toward Mencia. First, she accuses Phillipe of sexually assaulting Mencia after finding her body with marks, despite him trutfully saying that he wasn't with her (and the true culprit was the client from Armando, whom Mencia is secretly seeing), then fiercely tells Phillipe to stay away from her.
    • After finding out that Armando was, in fact responsible for sexually assaulting Mencia, she has the balls to face him and threaten to expose him to her father.
    • Later on, Alex aggresively confronts the sisters for drugging him and Javier and writing the word "RAPISTS" on their backs. He attacks Mencia, and Ari threatens to kill him should he dare lay a hand on her.
  • Boyish Short Hair: Subverted. Ari has shorter hair than many of the boys, but she's quite feminine in almost all other aspects.
  • Brainy Brunette: Has dark hair and is good at her studies, so that's why she's an Academic Alpha Bitch for a reason!
  • Composite Character: She's physically similar to Nadia, has the bitchiness and "all win" attitude of Lucrecia and the wealth and clothing style of Carla. Also she's a love interest of Samuel and Guzman like the three above (for just one of them though).
  • Dude Magnet: She attracts Samuel, Guzman, Iván, Nico, and Bilal.
  • Flanderization: By season 6, Ari becomes even more exaggeratedly loathsome to everyone, especially her own siblings and Nico, whom she just met and keeps throwing transphobic insults at. Also, she started off as a very responsible yet strong-headed ambitious student, but eventually ends up becoming a reckless teenager and an unfaithful girlfriend.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The Responsible to Mencia's Foolish. The roles are inverted in Season 5, Mencia becoming the responsible to Ari and Patrick's Foolish.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Ari has become this as of season 6 in the eyes of her siblings and friends.
  • The Glorious War Of Sisterly Rivarly: With Mencia.
  • Hypocrite: she reasonably advises Guzman to not be so close of her due to his relationship with Nadia. But some episodes after his break-up and their own beginning as a couple, she's start to cheat on him with one of his closest friend Samuel.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: She's right in telling Sara that it's very hypocrite of her going from badmouthing Isadora (whom she accused of being an Attention Whore thinking that she made up the rape allegation) to later retracting her opinion about her on social media, especially when taking the down the apology video, which was because Raul got angered at her since the video cost them 1.5 million of their followers. Despite Mencia trying to defend her, Sara, for the first time in her life agrees with what Ari said.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She is aloof, bitter, competitive and completely haughty, yet she still cares about her family and she loves Samuel despite her frequent mistakes.
  • Kick the Dog: She publicly humiliates Samuel, who angrily storms off, during a debate when she brought up his brother Nano's criminal past after Guzmán spilled the beans about it the night before. However, Guzmán is visibly remorseful for this after realizing what she was doing.
    • Gets one herself when Benjamin kills Samu, when Omar and Rebe push her away when she runs to Samu's dying body.
  • Put on a Bus: Moves away with her father, Patrick and Mencía for a fresh start at the end of season 6.
  • Rich Bitch: She's the daughter of a very wealthy businessman and frequently talk dirty around her.
  • Sentimental Drunk: Everytime Ari drinks, she acts nicer in stark contrast to her bitchy personality when she is sober, an alter-ego Patrick calls "Ira". While in this state during the towel party, she went ecstatic when she saw Rebeka and Mencía kissing and had sex with Samuel. After learning this, Guzman becomes paranoid, especially when he sees Samuel giving Ari a drink, and accuses him of trying to steal "his girl" by taking advantage of this (when Ari actually requested a drink to help herself, not because she wanted to sleep with Samuel again), which offends both her and Samuel.
  • The Superego: Of the Blanco Commerford siblings. She's the wise and sophisticated sibling.
  • Teen Pregnancy: Ari gets pregnant from her sexual encounter with Ivan, as revealed by a pregnancy test found by Sonia, which Ari threw away. However, as she's not ready to be a mother at such young age, Ari aborts the baby.
  • Took a Level in Dumbass: Goes from being the most responsible Commerford sibling in season 4 to arguably the most foolish and reckless by the end of season 6, this admittedly being a result of Samu's death, her father's involvement and descent and her inability to process and grieve for Samu properly.
  • Villain Respect: When they first met, Ari didn't like Cayetana at all. She mocked her work as the school janitor, and was fully aware of her history of scamming people, despite being given a harsh lesson about it and embracing her non-wealthy lifestyle afterwards. However, she comes to respect Cayetana later on after she indirectly turns down the sexual advances of a fashion designer she admired and turns the tables on Phillipe's mother when she tries to justify her son's behavior through "natural urges".

    Mencía Blanco Commerford

Mencía Blanco Commerford

Played By: Martina Cariddi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/e4cqtb1vcaaxseg.jpg

  • Betty and Veronica:
    • In Season 5, with Mencia unable to be in a relationship with Rebeka, she moves on by dating another girl named Jess, which makes Mencia jealous. Due to Jess' personality, she is the Veronica to Mencia's Betty.
    • In Season 6, while Sara is in an abusive relationship with Raul, she serves as the Betty to Raul's Veronica.
  • Black Sheep: She has conflicts with her family especially with her father because she was blamed for her mother's death. This is ultimately subverted when they found out about her sexual relationship with Armando.
  • Bratty Teenage Daughter: Although, She gets better in season 5.
  • Chick Magnet: She attracted Rebeka and Sara.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: In season 5, Mencia didn’t take it well when she sees Rebeka with another girl, Jess.
  • Driven to Suicide: Played for Drama. In one of the short stories, Patrick has a vision of the future in which Mencía, still traumatized by her experience with Armando, commits suicide by ingesting a lot of pills, with Patrick looking on in horror.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Mencia was apalled to hear that Iván wished Patrick were dead instead of his father, and told Patrick to forget about him.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The Foolish to Ari's Responsible. The roles are inverted in Season 5, Ari and Patrick becoming the foolish to Mencia's responsible.
  • The Glorious War Of Sisterly Rivarly: With Ari.
  • Hypocrite: She supported the group's objections about her father Benjamín placing the assessment exam for Samuel and Omar, sending Guzmán to charm her sister Ari into convincing him otherwise. The plan initially works until Mencía angrily reveals the deception after he cut her from the family wealth, leading Ari to have second thoughts, although Samuel and Omar managed to pass anyway.
  • The Id: Out her siblings. She's the most prone to disobey to their father and is somewhat self-destructive.
  • Put on a Bus: Moves away with her father, Patrick and Ari for a fresh start at the end of season 6.
  • Secret Sex Worker: In season 4, after she is cut off from her father, she secretly becomes a prostitute, working for the abusive Armando. Rebeka finds out about it near the end of the season, and helps her to get out of it.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: A kind, intelligent yet wild, reckless rich girl with Daddy Issues and something in their past that is a source of pain for their family...where have we seen this before? Guzman even lampshades the similarities between her and Marina. Mencía also ends up becoming one to Rebeka, to whom she's learned from a lot, by trying to help Sara open her eyes and realize that the abuse from Raúl isn't love at all, even when she brings up her past experience with Armando.

     Phillipe Von Triesenberg

Phillipe Von Triesenberg

Played By: Pol Granch

A prince of French origin and a new student at Las Encinas.
  • The Atoner: At the end of the series after being confronted by Cayetana, he leaves a voicemail message to an unknown woman. She is a previous victim of his. Phillip looks to atone by apologising by voicemail and confirming that he did the act so that she could go to the authorities or media."
  • Bilingual Bonus: Speaks French on a few occasions with Benjamin and with his mother.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Benjamin and Ari in particular both frequently hint that Phillip has this. Even his mother says as much. We learn that this is most likely to be to do with his past history of assaulting women.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Even after his assault with other women and Cayetana, It's implied that he didn't want to rape drunk Isadora.
  • Hypocrite: Well...he did rape a French girl and then attempted to do the same to Cayetana and now he aggresively confronts the guys who raped Isadora.
  • Pet the Dog: While both Benjamín and his mother prevented this from happening since his bank account was frozen, he genuinely wanted to volunteer in paying for Samuel's bail.
  • Put on a Bus: He is implied to have returned to his country after the events of season 5.
  • Slimeball: Urgh. His relationship with Cayetana is just seeing how utterly creepy he can get. He first records their sexual encounter without telling her, and when they later have sex again after shakily making up, his failure to heed her requests to stop are just a step shy from making him a rapist.
  • Upper-Class Twit: On a show full of the children of wealthy businesspeople and aristocracy, Phillip may just be the most of all.

     Iván Carvalho

Iván Carvalho

Played By: André Lamoglia

  • Ambiguously Bi: He never actually says he's attracted to men and women, but still hooks up with Patrick and then Ari. When Patricks questions in season 6 if he's in love with his sister, he just answers that he's not in love with anyone.
  • Break the Cutie: The death of his father Cruz ends up crumbling his world to pieces, shedding the cheerful, funny and optimistic person he used to be, now twisting to a depressed, resentful and indifferent one.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: Usually prone to calling his father out for his immature behaviour.
  • Hypocrite: He is angry about Patrick cheating on him with his father Cruz, despite Iván also cheating on him with his sister Ari, having the gall to break up with Patrick even after he's called out on it.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: He constantly brushes Patrick off while he's too busy grieving, and actually keeps blaming him for his father's death.
  • Morality Pet: To Patrick.
  • Nice Guy: Often with a smile on his face.
  • Never My Fault: Iván blames Patrick for his father's death that led to his drinking problem.
  • Parting-Words Regret: The last time he and Patrick ever saw each other, they had a horrible fight. Ivan did not want to be with him anymore, so Patrick calls him out for giving him false hopes and treating him poorly lately before storming off. Just as a remorseful Ivan tries to look for him, he gets run over by Sara and hospitalized. And by the time he has recovered, Patrick and his family are leaving Madrid to start a new life.
  • Pet the Dog: He is the one who comes up with the idea of doing the Valentine's fundraising in order to pay for Samuel's bail after he falsely admitted to murdering Armando in order to protect Guzmán and Rebeka.
  • Sex for Solace: With Ari and a couple of random guys at his home to cope with his father Cruz's death.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: During the mid season six, he has grew into this after his father's death. He gets better, though.
  • Tranquil Fury: He finds out that Chloe and Carmen are his sister and mother, and looks rather calmly angry at them. Iván gives Chloe the silent treatment whenever she tries to talk to him, and tells Carmen how disappointed he is that he had abandoned him because of his father's money.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Patrick accuses Iván of this saying that he accepts help from anyone, but not from him, and that even though he keeps saying he's thankful and forcing a smile, Patrick can tell that Iván despises him.
  • * Was Too Hard on Him
  • You Should Have Died Instead: Not only does Iván blame Patrick for his father's death, but also cruelly tells him that he should've been the one to be killed and not his father

     Isadora Artiñán

Isadora Artiñán

Played By: Valentina Zenere

  • Attention Whore: Isadora is accused of this by almost everyone (sans for Ari, Mencía, Rocío and Nico), including Dídac initially, at the school due to the lack of proof about the boys' participation in her rape.
  • Break the Haughty: After wasting her energies defending a rapist like Phillipe, Isadora herself gets raped by three guys she hung out with at an Ibiza party she hosted.
  • Dude Magnet: Phillipe and Dídac.
  • Hypocrite: When Dídac reveals he's been working with the police to have Isadora's family arrested, she doesn't take it well, accuses Dídac of playing her, and refuses to betray the people she loves. Later on, Rocío tells her about her mother's involvement with her parents, but again, she'd rather turn a blind eye before taking action and advises Rocío to just let it go. However, Rocío calls Isadora out for undermining her statement about justice regardless of who has to pay, when she clearly had no problem wanting her rapists arrested. This intervention changes Isadora's mind about letting her parents walk free everyday.
  • It's All About Me: Isadora shows this attitude initially, as she's only interested that her followers stop hating on Phillipe for his large history of rape. She grows out of this in Season 6. However, she's at it again in Season 7 when she refuses to cooperate with the police in having her parents arrested despite being aware of all their serious crimes, and only prefers to ignore the situation just because they are her parents and even tells Rocío to do the same regarding her mother. Fortunately, she changes her mind when Rocio points out the double standard about the meaning of their message about justice.
  • It's Not You, It's Me: Refuses to be in a relationship with Dídac, having chosen to swear off boys both because of her traumatic experience and the little to no support she has from both her family and the authorities. It takes Javier's Heel–Face Turn for Isadora to finally give him a chance.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: she could be rude, annoying and self-centered at times, but sometimes her heart is in the right place.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: Her parents are hardly home, and she was living in her own apartment by herself.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: She's a famous influencer and a DJ, so she's very well-liked by all of the students.
  • Pet the Dog: Her interactions with Ivan.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: She was literally an Alpha Bitch Anti-Hero in season 5 by being rude and snotty to Cayetana, After her rape experience, she become more vulnerable and traumatized, but in season 6, her nastier traits has been lifted and became one of the most compassionate characters in the series.
  • Undying Loyalty: Not only does she defend Phillipe after he is ostracized by his classmates, but also follows him everywhere like a lapdog.
  • Ungrateful Bitch: Despite the fact that Bilal saved her life when she collapsed, however, Isadora just tells him to "return to doing whatever you're doing", which implies that she was racially prejudicial towards him. Dídac lampshades this to Isadora. However, she ends up subverting this when all of her friends come over to support her, publicly giving him credit for saving her life and Bilal humbly saying he's not a hero.

     Sara

Sara

Played By: Carmen Arrufat

  • Ambiguously Bi: She has Raul as her boyfriend, but she seems to attract Mencia.
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Her abusive relationship with Raúl. Despite being aware of his nature, Sara is afraid to leave him and often brushes off any genuine concern people might show about it.
  • Berserk Button: Her button is pushed by the people (namely Mencia and Jessica) who see through Raul's abusive nature and encourage her to leave him. But when Isadora at one point also becomes concerned upon learning that Raul proposed to her, Sara stays calm and simply diverts the subject by asking Isadora how her relationship with Didac is doing.
  • Blatant Lies: Sara denying that she's jealous of Chloe when she starts dating Raul. Neither Jesssica nor Raul himself believe her for a second, and suggest she just can't stand the thought of him being with another girl that's not Sara. She even monitors them through a fake account.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Even though they broke up, Sara is clearly this to Chloe once she becomes Raul's new girlfriend.
  • Designated Driver: Because Mencía is about to black out from the drug she ingested from Raúl, Sara uses Patrick's car to drive her to a hospital. However, she ends up accidentally running Iván over and flees in a panic.
  • Dirty Coward: After she turns out to be the real culprit behind Iván's accident, she panics and instead of calling the cops, she calls her boyfriend Raúl who helps her cover her tracks.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Mencia is the first girl who becomes attracted to Sara.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite initially hating on Isadora for supposedly making up her rape allegations, she's naturally shocked and horrified when Didac reveals the truth by playing an audio he secretly recorded of a drunk Javier admitting to participating in the ordeal.
  • Extreme Doormat: Sara is so naive that she can't even stand up for herself and realize how violent her boyfriend Raul is. He even lampshades this to Sara when Mencia makes it clear to Raul that he needs to back off, arguing that she can't let other people speak for her.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: While she enjoys being around Mencía, Sara is still blindly in love with Raúl no matter how many times he abuses her physically and verbally. When Sara tells Mencía that Raúl is now being good to her, however, she is quick to tell her that he couldn't possibly change just like that, but she nevertheless drops the matter as Sara begs her not to start another fight with each other.
  • Hypocrite: Ari calls her one for going from gossiping about Isadora to retracting her opinion about her (after she found out the truth from Dídac), to then removing the video saying just that, even though Raul violently confronted her about it since this move costed them 1.5 million and a half of their followers.
  • It's All About Me: Even though she had broken up with him, Sara is visibly jealous about his new relationship with Chloe, and her warnings to Carmen that he's going to treat Chloe the same way she treated her are because she's only worried that she can't get over him, not because she genuinely has Chloe's best interests at heart. Although this is up to the viewer's interpretation of her.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Sara can be judgmental, mean-spirited and passive aggresive, but she later befriends the group, especially when realizing that the accusations against Isadora's rapists were actually true.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Twice.
    • Jessica was trying to help by fending Raúl off when he came to the school (as not a student or staff member, according to her), but Sara calling her out for "just making everything worse" is very understandable as she could've triggered his explosive outbursts.
    • Despite painting Chloe as a 'whore' to the school was a horrible thing to do, Sara is on point telling her that it isn't the first time she shows off her infamous sexual reputation.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: She initially made fun of Isadora (for her supposedly made-up rape experience) and Patrick (who was kissed by Cruz) on social media, but she's later shown to be really sympathetic.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Upon hearing the audio played by Dídac that makes her realize Isadora was telling the truth about being raped and sincerely comforts her.
  • No Sympathy: Sara doesn't display any shred of sympathy to the wellbeing of the Blancos while gossiping about their father's role in Samuel's death. Well, at least until Dídac reveals the audio of his friend Javier, in which he drunkenly admits to participating in the rape. She immediately regrets it.
  • Not Afraid of You Anymore: Sara shows this attitude to Raúl once she learns how to stand up for herself and breaks up with him for good, telling him that he no longer gets to control her life anymore or decide what she can or can't do.
  • Social Media Before Reason: She gossiped about Patrick, Ari and Mencía's father (the school's former principal), accused Isadora of being an Attention Whore when it came to her rapists successfully getting away with it and mocked Patrick for supposedly kissing Iván's father and never gives them a chance to actually explain themselves. Judging by their understandable reactions, her meddling behavior with these incidents was seen by them as wrong and uncalled for, a fact she even acknowledges after Dídac apologizes to Isadora for not believing her before.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute:
    • She basically resembles Mencia as the irresponsible rebellious teenager we met in the fourth season, as she is often warned about the nature of her relationship with Raul.
    • Sara is also very reminiscent of Polo, submissive in behavior when it comes to her boyfriend Raul and especially covering up a crime she comitted.
  • Karma Houdini: She and Raúl get away with hiding her involvement in Iván's accident by pinning it on Mencía, knowing that her father will use his influences to let her off the hook.
  • Kick the Dog:
  • Took a Level in Badass: Thanks to Jessica's self-defence classes, Sara is finally able to fight back against Raúl when he attempts to hit her once again.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: She becomes less hostile to Isadora once she figures out from Dídac that she wasn't lying about her rapists, and the Blancos as well. But this doesn't stop her from still being a social media nuisance, as shown in season 7 to Chloe.
  • Ungrateful Bitch: Mencía gave her shelter at her home after she ran away from Raúl. How does Sara repay her? Pushing her away and slamming the door in her face, although she later apologizes.
  • Undying Loyalty: She still chooses to stay with Raúl even though he is verbally and physically abusive towards her.
  • What Does She See in Him?: Seriously, one already wonders what is it that made Sara fall in love with a monster like Raul.

     Dídac

Dídac

Played By: Álvaro de Juana

  • Conflicting Loyalty: He is in love with Isadora and sides with her instead of his friend Javier, who was an accomplice in her rape, and his family who is feuded with Isadora's over business drama.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: To Guzmán. Both are rich students from Las Encinas with childhood best friends of their own that have commited a crime, but Guzmán is initially mean to some of the characters and prone to outbursts and violence while Dídac is a good-hearted person who is able to maintain his composure.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: He feels really hurt after finding out that his best friend Javier participated in Isadora's rape and refuses to talk to him.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He was apalled to learn that his friend Javier was an accomplice of Hugo and Javier in Isadora's rape.
  • Everyone Loves Blondes: Not only does he try to help Isadora, but also starts developing feelings for her.
  • Nice Guy: Dídac is a very calm, understanding and empathetic person unless you really get on his nerves, yet when he learns that Javier participated in Isadora's rape, he successfully does his best not to resort to violence.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Dídac tells Isadora that something that doesn't make either of them different is that they are forcibly kept out of the businesses of their respective families.
  • Put on a Bus: He won't return for Season 8.
  • Revenge Is Not Justice: He tells this to Isadora when she resorts to extreme methods to ensure that her rapists pay for what they did to her, only for Isadora to reply that justice isn't fair to her.
  • Sins of Our Fathers: Because of the attempted shooting at Las Encinas, Dídac's family is accused of causing the scandal, when it was actually Isadora's mother Roberta who ordered this, and gets harshly ostracized by the students for it. Even Roberta and Nico's mother go as far as to attempt to have him expelled. In actuality, Dídac is not to blame for all the trouble his family causes, as he wants nothing to do with them, and the way he is judged is pretty extreme and over-the-top.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute:
    • To Guzmán from season 3, as their best friends (Polo and Javi respectively) have committed an atrocity (murder/rape complicity) and for some time can't bring themselves to forgive them.
    • In season 7, he also ends up becoming one to Samuel, having a Disappointing Older Sibling who is a criminal and the whole student body demonizes and unfairly faults him for the attempted shooting, to the point of even demanding that he be expelled.
  • Token Good Teammate: The only sane person of his entire family.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Gives one to Sara when she attempts to leave him and Isadora, telling her that she's already said enough stuff about Isadora's supposedly made-up rape story.

     Rocío

Rocío

Played By: Ana Bokesa

  • Ascended Extra: She gets more prominence in season 7 with the introduction of her mother, a corrupt judge bribed by Isadora's father, with whom she has a strained relationship.
  • Betty and Veronica:
    • Downplayed with Rocio the Betty and Ari the Veronica for Bilal in season 6.
    • In season 7, she is the Betty to Chloe's Veronica for Eric (Archie).
  • Calling the Old Woman Out: Rocío rightfully gets mad at her mother's lying about working for Isadora's father's illegal business.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: When she inadvertently caused Eric to relapse after asking Nico to let her stay at his house to avoid her mother.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Eric would've gotten better while taking the medicines to improve his health if it wasn't for Rocio staying at Nico's, sneaking into Eric's bed and wanting to initiate sex with him, to which she ends up triggering one of his outbursts. It gets worse when Eric relapses, then he's kicked out of the house when Nico has had enough of his behavior. Rocio actually looks guilty when Nico gets mad at her.
  • Out of Focus: Even though she joins the gang who support Isadora in seeking justice for her rapists, Rocío is never presented with a storyline of her own. Subverted in season 7.
  • Put on a Bus: She won't return for Season 8.
  • Red Herring: The Driving Question of the beginning of the season 7 finale, who fell off to their death? She was on a roof with her mother and some thugs attempted to kill them on Martín's orders. It wasn't her.
  • Staying with Friends: After an argument with her mom, who keeps lying to her about her involvement with Isadora's parents, Rocío asks Nico to let her crash at his place for a few days.
  • Uptown Girl: She's revealed to be this for Bilal.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Rocío gives one to Isadora for turning a blind eye on the crimes their parents have comitted, having to remind her of the pact they made to seek justice for those responsible no matter who they are.

     Nico

Nico

Played By: Ander Puig

  • Chick Magnet: He attracted three girls: Sonia, Ari and Chloe.
  • Hypocrite: Nico for calling Eric out when he learns that he did nothing to stop Rocío from being arrested, despite him also doing nothing to help her either as he left the social centre before things got messy and was having sex with Chloe. Eric lampshades this.
  • Morality Pet: To his troublesome cousin Eric.
  • Old Friend, New Gender: Almost all of Nico's classmates, Sonia included, have no problem whatsoever with his gender identity, but Ari herself is a bit put off.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: He's quite similar to Samuel, not only in appearance, though.
  • Trans Relationship Troubles: With Ari, especially due to her doubts and transphobia.
  • Trans Tribulations: He initially starts off confident and sure of himself, until Ari's transphobic comments just make him question whether transitioning was ever worth it.

     Hugo Múler

Hugo Múler

Played By: Guillermo Campra

  • Big Bad: Becomes this in season 6 when he and his two other friends seek by all means to get away with what they did to Isadora back in Ibiza. Becomes a Big Bad Ensemble with Raúl, who is abusive to Sara in their relationship.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He pretends to be friendly with Isadora when he, his two friends and Ivan join her on a trip to Ibiza where they party a lot. However, he shows his true face once Isadora gets heavily drunk and takes advantage of this.
  • Blatant Lies: When he, Alex, Javier and Isadora are summoned by Virginia about their fight at the halls over the rape allegations, Hugo smugly tells her that his friends were "assaulted". However, this isn't entirely true, as all Ari and Mencia did was drug them and write the word "RAPIST" on their backs.
  • Hate Sink: Possibly the most despicable character in the show's run. Is shown at various times being homophobic, transphobic, highly sexist and racist as well as being a rapist.
  • Hypocrite Has a Point: He's the worst person in the world for raping Isadora, but he was totally on point in calling Phillipe a hypocrite when confronted about the rape because of the latter's history of sexually assaulting girls.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: He is tricked by Isadora into taking a chemical castration serum, leaving him unable to perform during sex.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Like Ari, he also throws transphobic insults at Nico. Hugo also attacks Ivan and Patrick when they're dating.
  • Promotion to Opening Titles: Hugo is promoted to a series regular in the sixth season, for the plot involving Isadora seeking justice for her rapists.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: He enjoys raping girls, especially drunk ones. It shows when he, Alex and Javier do this to Isadora, and later they (except Javier) attempt to do the same to a random drunk girl at Isadora's nightclub. Fortunately for her, Javier rats himself and Hugo and Alex out to the police before things got too far.

     Javier

Javier

Played By: Ignacio Carrascal

  • The Atoner: After a lot of doubts, he ultimately reports the assault on Isadora as a way to make it up for her and Dídac.
  • Conflicting Loyalty: He chooses to support Isadora over sticking with Hugo and Alex.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Starts feeling remorseful for assisting Hugo and Alex in raping Isadora and for straining his long-term friendship with Dídac.
  • Must Make Amends: Apart from Alex and Hugo, who show zero remorse at raping Isadora, Javier feels very sorry and tries in every way to earn Isadora and Didac's forgiveness.

    Alejandro Díaz

Alejandro Díaz

Played By: Marc Bonnin

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Like Hugo, he also puts on a friendly mask to Isadora before raping her at the Ibiza party.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: Alex ets arrested alongside Hugo and Javier, the latter of whom tipped off the police out of remorse.

     Sonia

Sonia

Played By: Nadia Al Saidi

  • Betty and Veronica: The Betty to Ari's Veronica for Nico the Archie.
  • Nice Girl: She is still kind to Ari even though she continually brushes her off.
  • Promotion to Opening Titles: Was introduced in the sixth season as a recurring character and will return as a regular character in the upcoming seventh season.

     Joel

Joel

Played By: Fernando Líndez

  • Dude Magnet: Omar and Iván are attracted to Joel, and he returns this to each of them.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Ivan decides to go to the South Africa exchange program to get away from everything and invites Joel to go with him. While initially considering it, Joel decides to back out at the last minute to put himself first after being advised on it by Dalmar, who tells him to stop depending on other people to achieve his goals.
  • Nice Guy: He's very patient and understading while on the relationship with Omar.
  • Replacement Goldfish: Part of the reason why Ivan is into Joel it's because he sees in him so much of Patrick, whom he misses and is unable to get over, and wants to the fill the void he left.

     Chloe

Chloe

Played By: Mirela Balic

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Like Sara, she also ended up getting romantically involved with Raúl and for once almost having to endure his abusive outbursts.
  • Attention Whore: And how. Her infamous reputation of having sexual encounter with guys and record them on video makes her this to the eyes of the student body. The ''so-called'' story about her sex video being leaked as her cellphone was stolen is clearly a lie.
  • Berserk Button: Using Chloe's habit of getting around to one's advantage will definitely get on her nerves.
  • Betty and Veronica: She is the self-centered Veronica to Sonia's caring and comprehensive Betty for Nico.
  • Break the Haughty: After her video with Raúl is posted, Chloe's image is further shattered by Sara when she makes her as guilty as he was, and Sara painting herself as a "victim".
  • Calling the Old Woman Out: Often argues with her mom, especially over her obsession with Iván and his inheritance money.
  • Dude Magnet: She attracted at least two boys: Eric and Raúl.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Chloe initially saw Ivan as her next sex conquer, and was willing to sleep with him, ignoring that he's in a bad place. However, Chloe ultimately abandons this after finding out he's her brother and decides that he's suffered enough that she begs her mom to just leave him alone.
  • Fiery Redhead: Actually gingerhead, but she's a very sharp-tongued, abrasive and take no bullshit girl.
  • Freudian Excuse: Chloe's behavior comes from the immoral values instilled by her mother. No wonder why Chloe is snobbish and dismissive, especially when Eric doesn't care about her beauty and wants to know her as a person.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Like Sara, she easily falls into Raúl's clutches and goes to live with him, especially as she has nowhere to go and refuses to talk to her mother, not knowing the monster she's fallen in love with. Chloe had to learn this the hard way when he physically attacked her to stop her from angrily leaving after seeing the sex video of him and Sara. Carmen is warned of this by Sara, resulting in the former killing Raúl to protect Chloe.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite her mean-spirited behavior, Chloe has a soft spot for Iván once she finds out that they're siblings and encourages her mother to keep away from him and not tell him the truth after all the shit he's gone through after the death of his father as to spare him any further pain.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's totally proud of being seen in revealing clothes while hooking up with the first guy she encounters and one time she is completely naked during a makeout session with Raúl.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Her most defining trait. Sara even lamspshaded it to Chloe when confronted about the video she posted that tarnished her already infamous reputation at the school.
  • Surprise Incest: She's about to have sex with Iván, who's not in a good mood, until Carmen stops her and reveals that he is her brother. Chloe doesn't believe her at first.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: While Sara may be right that it's not the first time she shows off her body publicly, Chloe was still understandably mad at her for making her look as guilty as Raúl in front of the entire school by painting her as a "slut" and Sara playing the victim.

     Eric

Eric

Played By: Gleb Abrosimov

  • Armor-Piercing Question: When Nico gets angry at Eric for allowing Rocío to be arrested, he straightforwardly asks him what was he doing when that happened. In response, Nico stays silent, knowing it was because he was having sex with Chloe.
  • Betty and Veronica: He's a broken guy in need of help, which makes him a Veronica, while Raúl is a wealthy and devilishly handsome influencer who has the position of a Betty. However, when it comes to character, Eric's efforts in making an emotional connection with Chloe make him a Betty, and Raúl's history of sexism and masculine toxicity result in him becoming the Veronica.
  • Chick Magnet: Chloe and Rocío were both attracted to him.
  • Cool Big Bro: Actually cousin, but this is one the few reasons why Nico begs his parents, mostly his father, to give him a chance despite his mental health issues, because he looks up to him.
  • Dirty Coward: He leaves Rocío to be arrested instead of helping her when the police riot at a squatter house spirals out of control.
  • Dogged Nice Guy: No matter how many times Chloe rejects him, Eric is still nice enough to her and stays optimistic in trying to start a relationship with her.
  • Driven to Suicide: Played for Drama. Having realized the severity of his actions, being kicked out of Nico's house becomes the last straw for Eric to consider comitting suicide, believing it's the only way to stop harming everybody he loves and they'll be better off without him. Fortunately, Sonia finds out and tells Nico, who manages to talk him out of it.
  • Drugs Are Bad: His addiction to drugs is what drives him to behave self-destructively and lash out at the people he cares about.
  • Drugs Are Good: The medications he was taking were holding him back from enjoying pleasurable sex, so he resorted back to them and manages to lay Chloe a second time.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's reckless, self-destructive and prone to outbursts, but deep down he truly cares about Nico and genuinely wants to improve his self-esteem.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: With Eric cowardly leaving Rocío to be arrested, Nico has every right to tell him he's the worst person in the world for doing that. But we also agree with Eric that Nico didn't do anything to help her either as he fled from the social centre and was busy having sex with Chloe at Sara's party.
  • Kick the Morality Pet: During one of his triggered outbursts, Eric ends up assaulting Nico when he tries to intervene.
  • Morality Pet: Ironically, he is a downplayed version of this to Chloe.
  • Red Herring: The Driving Question of the beginning of the season 7 finale, who fell off to their death? Eric was also on a roof attempting suicide. It wasn't him either.
  • * Was Too Hard on Him

Others

     Bilal

Bilal

Played By: Adam Nourou

  • Apologises a Lot: Bilal for unceremoniously arriving at Samuel and Omar's house, with Samuel clearly not liking him, then his visit causing both of them to fight and eventually Samuel kicks Omar out of his house. Bilal does this once more when he brings Samuel, against Omar's wishes (as he had told him to bring Rebeka to deal with Armando's corpse), in an attempt to intervene and mend their conflict.
  • Chick Magnet: He caught the attention of Rocio and Ari.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: He disappears without a trace after the events of season 6.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He is completely uncomfortable with Hugo, Alex and Javier showing up at Isadora's club after they raped her in Ibiza. Despite his best efforts, though, they refuse to leave.
  • Gold Digger: It's heavily implied part of the reason he starts showing interest in Rocio is because she buys him expensive gifts.
  • Has a Type: Like Samuel, his two love interests, Ari and Rocío, are uptown girls.
  • Humble Hero: Bilal refers to himself as this when Isadora publicly gives him credit for finding her collapsed on the ground and helping her up, despite dismissing him at first.
  • Hypocritical Humour: Omar, in an attempt to do something about Armando's dead body, tells Bilal to seek Rebeka out (not Samuel, which he does anyway), describing her as "a girl who's laying another girl". Bilal reacts apalled at this and asks Omar if he's for real, despite him having kissed Omar.
  • No Bisexuals: He kissed Omar, later got romantically involved with Ari and Rocio, but he never uses the word "bisexual".
  • Satellite Character: Doesn't have much of a prominence aside from only helping Omar retrieve Armando's decaying corpse from the lake, defending Isadora from her rapists and being employed as a waiter at her nightclub.
  • You're Not My Type: Straightforwardly tells this to Rocio, who's interested in him but he's not in her.

     Raúl

Raúl

Played By: Alex Pastrana

  • Asshole Victim: He is pushed off the balcony by Carmen and dies instantly. Taking into account how abusive Raúl was to Sara, and later Chloe who was going to repeat the same cycle, and him attempting to choke Carmen, who angrily points out he doesn't know how to respect women, no one will miss him at all.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Raul successfully gets back with Sara after he drugs Mencia, and Sara calls him to let him know that she accidentally injured Ivan. He decides to cover up his girlfriend's involvement and put the blame on Mencia. Subverted in season 7, when Carmen has Raúl done for by pushing him off a balcony to his death.
  • Batman Gambit: He records a live streaming for his fans, promising to be a better boyfriend for Sara in order to get her to take him back. Predictably enough, she does.
  • Berserk Button: He becomes paranoid and prone to violence whenever Sara doesn't meet his demands.
  • Betty and Veronica:
    • In Season 6, he is the Veronica to Mencia's Betty. But given how long Sara knows each of them, Raul would be the Betty and Mencia the Veronica.
    • Raúl living in wealth and fame, as well as him "perfect guy" image on social media make him a Betty, while Eric's addiction to drugs and self-destructive behavior technically place him as the Veronica. However, the roles are inverted when each demonstrates their interest in Chloe when it comes to character.
  • Big Bad: After Hugo in season 6, ultimately resulting in him framing Mencía for Iván's accident caused by Sara, his girlfriend, allowing him and Sara to get off unscathed. Becomes a Big Bad Ensemble in season 7 with Isadora's father.
  • Disney Villain Death: Raúl falls by being pushed off a balcony by Carmen, after he had tried to strangle her, to protect Chloe from him, instantly killing him and putting an end to his cycle of abuse once and for all.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: He comes up with the idea of drugging Mencía with Isadora's drugs after overhearing Hugo talk to his friends about how this ended up happening to him.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • For as much as an asshole he is, Raúl was understandably upset when his friend caused Cruz's football game to be cancelled when he kept on throwing harshly homophobic insults at him.
    • He also managed to stop Ari from taking a sip of the drugged drink meant for Mencía when he snook into the masks party.
  • Evil Is Petty: He drugs Mencía just because she won't give up on his girlfriend and support her.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: He's aware that Sara ran Ivan over, however, when Iván talks about his accident, Raúl tries to manipulate him into distrusting Patrick (whose car was used during the accident) by bringing up him and his family escaping the country after covering their tracks. Fortunately, Iván defends and trusts Patrick enough to know he wouldn't be capable of ever harming or trying to kill him. Even Omar sides with Ivan.
  • Hypocrite: Raúl angrily calls Carmen "crazy", despite the fact that he's actually the one who's crazy for his violent treatment of women and even had the gall to to attempt to murder Carmen by threatening to throw her off the balcony. Carmen responds by asking if he realizes how does he not know how to treat women well.
  • First Guy Wins: Apparently the outcome of the Mencia-Sara-Raul love triangle, with Raul standing out as the winner, successfully pushing Mencia out of the way by drugging and framing her for Ivan's accident, especially when Mencia is forced to leave town with her family to avoid legal trouble and start over. Subverted when Sara finally breaks up with him in Season 7.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Raúl's plan to drug Mencía succeeds, that it leads her to getting in Patrick's car to look for Ari, then blacking out and waking up alone thinking she was the one who caused Iván's accident, when it was actually Sara.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: He is jealous of Mencía whom he thinks is trying to manipulate Sara.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Despite his feud with Mencia over Sara, his statement about Sara letting other people speaking for her is totally accurate, especially when Mencia straightforwardly tells Raul that Sara is better off without him yet Sara can't even stand up for herself or even have the balls to call the cops on her own boyfriend.
  • Karma Houdini: He and Sara get away with hiding her involvement in Iván's accident by pinning it on Mencía, knowing that her father will use his influences to let her off the hook.
  • Karmic Death: At the end of season 7, he is pushed off to his death by Carmen to stop his abusive mistreatment on Chloe.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Since he wasn't invited to the mask party because he's not a student, Raúl sneaks into the event wearing a mask and a black cape to avoid being recognized in order to spike a drink and drug Mencía to separate her from Sara.
  • Raging Stiffie: Sara's nakedness on the bathtub sexually arouses Raúl that he ends up having one, much to her amusement. Raúl lampshades this and that it's been a while since the last time they had sex.
  • Seven Deadly Sins: Raúl actually comitted five of them.
    • Envy: He gets easily jealous if he sees Sara with another person she's interested in, namely Mencía.
    • Wrath: Raúl is the clear definition of a macho man who constantly abuses Sara and controls every aspect of her life. He does the same to Chloe.
    • Pride: Considers almost everyone, his own girlfriend and Chloe included, as beneath him because of his violent nature.
    • Greed: Raúl becomes desperate when he and Sara are broke as their popularity on Sa.RaulGoals has been floundering lately and takes his anger out on her when he learns Virginia won't be charging them for hosting the livestreaming of a horse racing event. As a last minute resource, he accepts Sara's suggestion to invite Iván to move in with them so they won't lose their apartment.
    • Lust: He's totally turned on by Chloe's striking attractiveness that he masturbates to a photo of her. Later, he tries to have sex with her but she abruptly interrupts the makeout session when she accuses Raul of cheating on her with Sara.

     Dalmar

Dalmar

Played By: Iván Mendes

  • Chekhov's Gunman: The last episode of season 7 surprisingly reveals Dalmar as the only witness of Raúl's murder caused by Carmen, as he was coincidentally making a delivery around the same block. He even recorded the whole thing on his phone with Carmen on the roof. Let's see what he'll do with this newfound evidence in the upcoming final season.

Staff

    Martín

Martín

Played By: Jorge Suquet

  • Gratuitous English: He speaks English very fluently, especially the first day when he asks Christian, Nadia and Samuel to introduce themselves to their classmates.
  • Mistaken for Cheating: Samuel misinterprets Martín and Marina's tense conversation outside of the classroom as him being the one who got Marina pregnant, when it wasn't actually the case.
  • Put on a Bus: He gets fired near the end of season 1 when Azucena finds out about his involvement in Lu's unethical scheme to earn the top score over Nadia.

    Azucena

Azucena

Played By: Elisabet Gelabert

Ander´s mother and former principal of Las Encinas.
  • I Warned You: Tells this to Samuel and Guzmán for their mistreatment of Polo, as she stays true to her word in expelling them if they ever did this again, alongside Valerio and Rebeka, and not allowing either of them to graduate.
  • Open-Minded Parent: Not only she accepts her son for being gay, but also supports his relationship with Omar, despite knowing about his drug dealing business that involves one of her students, considering her position as the principal of Las Encinas.
  • Parental Substitute: Plays this role for Omar, especially in the first two seasons as his family did not accept his sexuality.
  • Put on a Bus: Was sacked as principal of Las Encinas at the beginning of Season 4, however appears in a later episode to comfort Omar after he and Ander break up.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: She is genuinely supportive of all her students and wants the best for them.

    Benjamín Blanco Commerford

Benjamín Blanco Commerford

Played By: Diego Martín

Las Encinas new director. Previously a corporate executive in London, also the widowed father of Ari, Patrick and Mencia
  • The Ace: Was a CEO in London before becoming principal of Las Encinas.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: To Azucena, as both of them were principals of Las Encinas before they were Put on a Bus, have children who are students themselves (including two of them being gay) and act as a Parental Substitute to both Omar and Samuel in their respective seasons. Azucena is a calm, comprehenvise and sympathetic woman who wants the best for the students while Benjamín is a strict, no-nonsense and perfectionist man who is only interested in rules being respected.
  • Demoted to Extra: In season 6, justified, as he was imprisoned at the time for Samuel's murder.
  • Jerkass Has a Point:
    • As unfair as he may seem to Rebeka, it's fairly reasonable to not want your already troubled child to be dating a drug lord's daughter.
    • He advises Samuel to stop fighting other people's battles, after he begged him not to make Omar take the test, and focus more on his own, since he has a way with words.
  • Last-Name Basis: His students. Other than Samuel on rare occasions and Guzmàn when he is having dinner with his family, Benjamin exclusively refers to students by their surnames.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: It becomes clear he won't uphold his promise to get Samuel out of jail after he becomes the scapegoat for Armando's murder, and even freezes his children and Phillipe's bank accounts to stop them from helping him. However, he had failed to realize before that Iván, his son Patrick's boyfriend, would be also willing to pay Samuel's bail. Because of this, Samuel is successfully released.
  • Parental Favouritism: Clearly favours Ari over Mencia and to a lesser extent Patrick.
  • Parental Substitute: To Samuel. He tries to take him under his wing by encouraging him to join the debate team and pursue his studies, even inviting him to have dinner with his own children. It's heavily implied he sees a lot of his younger self in Samu, as both grew up relatively poor without a father in their lives.
  • Parents as People: As harsh and cold as he can seem at times, it's clear that he is still struggling to move on from the loss of his wife even years later. This spills over into his difficult relationship with his youngest daughter, who he blames (not entirely unfairly) for her death.
  • Pet the Dog: Although he did give Samuel and Omar the test anyway, he took pity on the former after he got fired right on the spot for supposedly bothering Benjamín. After passing the test, Benjamín reveals to Samuel that he talked some sense into his boss and managed to get him rehired (by clarifying the whole misunderstanding), complimenting his abilites to defend his points of view and encouraging him to join the debate club.
  • Put on a Bus: He is released from jail in season 6 and moves away with Ari, Patrick and Mencía for a fresh start.
  • Self-Made Man: He grew up working-class and lost his father at a young age, but earned a scholarship for college and became one of the most successful people on the show.

    Virginia

Virginia

Played By: Godeliv Van den Brandt

The new principal who replaces Benjamin
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: She's very reasonable, righteous and caring to the students and she genuinely wants order and good behavior to prevail at Las Encinas while trying to get it back on track after her predecessor's very poor methods to do so. She also tells the Blancos that they're still welcome to be here despite the rumours out there about their father.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: To Azucena.

    Luis

Luis

Played By: Alejandro Albarracín

A cop who goes undercover as the school's head of studies after the shooting
  • Excellent Judge of Character: He knows that Dídac and Isadora are innocent of their families' wrongdoings. He bats for Dídac when Roberta and Nico's mother demand his immediate expulsion from the school.
  • Parental Substitute: He acts like this to Dídac when his families' actions start spiraling out of control.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Luis sets up a wiretapping to get the evidence he needs to arrest Isadora's father, who is bribing Catalina, a corrupt judge. He still goes on despite his partner Luena threatening to report him for illegal wiretapping after the court rejected his request.
  • Undercover Cop Reveal: At the end of season 7 premiere, he's revealed to be a cop investigating Dídac and Isadora's families.

    Jessica

Jessica

Played By: Anitta

  • Badass Teacher: She was once in an abusive relationship like Sara, so it's no wonder why Jessica defends her from Raúl at one point when he shows up at the school to check on her, as usual.
  • Domestic Abuse: Jessica reveals she was a victim of this.
  • Only Sane Woman: Possibly the only staff member of the school to be preoccupied by Sara's wellbeing.
  • Written-In Absence: Jessica doesn't appear in the fourth episode of season 7, but a picture of her is seen when she texts Sara about why has she been skipping the self-defence classes.

Adults

    Inspectora

Inspectora

Played By: Ainhoa Santamaría

The Inspector in charge of the cases regarding Marina, Samuel and Polo
  • Flat Character: She doesn't get a lot of characterization other than interrogating the potential suspects involved.
  • Put on a Bus: After the third season, she no longer appears and is replaced.

    Nano García Domínguez

Nano García Domínguez

Played By: Jaime Lorente

Samuel's older brother, a career criminal who was recently released from prison.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: With Carla for the first season.
  • Big Brother Instinct: He genuinely cares about and is fiercly protective of Samuel, having a warm relationship with him - albeit not without its rough patches. Like with Guzman, it sometimes veers into Knight Templar Big Brother territory, which is something he's completely unrepentant about, no matter how much trouble it causes for Samuel.
    • "I don't blame him. If I thought he (Guzman) killed my brother, I'd do the same."
  • Break the Haughty: Not only does Nano's blackmail plot cause his relationship with Samuel to suffer, but it leads to Marina's death and his arrest due to being falsely accused of being her killer.
  • Disappointing Older Sibling: Downplayed. Nano's family loves him very much and will have his back without question at the end of the day, but they clearly harbor resentment for his actions tearing causing the family stress and tearing them apart. Ari takes advantage of this during her and Samuel's debate after Guzman gives her the tip off.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He may encourage Samuel to be more cavalier and careless than he should be, but he doesn't want him going down the same path as him. When he figures out that Samuel's begun to make drug runs in order to support the family and pay Nano's legal fees, he sternly warns him to stop immediately and doesn't let the matter go when Samuel insists that he leaves it alone.
  • Hidden Depths: Appears to be quite adept at sewing, as seen when he helps tailor Samuel's Halliween costume in Season 2.
  • My Sister Is Off-Limits: More like, My Brother Is Off Limits, but he's not happy that Rebeka is in Samuel's life, mainly because of her mother's occupation as a drug dealer. After unsuccessfully needling him for information on their relationship, Nano eventually resorts to outright threatening Rebeka to stay away from Samuel.
  • Not Helping Your Case: Nano isn't a truly bad person, but whenever he finds himself in a sticky situation, he can almost be guaranteed to make the worst possible decision for himself and everyone around him. It's a large reason as to why he leaves the country.
  • Put on a Bus: Hasn't been seen since he skipped bail and left for Morocco in Season 2, most likely due to Jaime Llorente's commitments on La Casa de Papel.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:

     Pilar

Pilar

Played By: Irene Arcos

Samuel and Nano's mother.
  • Mama Bear: She has her moments, particularly towards Samuel. When the thugs Nano is in debt to ransack their house, she furiously chews him out for potentially getting Samuel hurt or killed... not that it stops her from leaving him to move to Morocco.
  • Parents as People: Loves her sons, but clearly struggles with the responsibilities of raising them on her own, especially considering that Nano can't stay out of trouble.
  • Put on a Bus: Leaves the show at the start of Season 3 to go be with Nano in Morocco.
  • Struggling Single Mother: Raised the two boys on her own without much money. However, she clearly loves both of them deeply, which is reciprocated by them.
  • Tarot Troubles: Deconstructed - Pilar reads tarot cards for a living. Her readings are not heard on the show but she is clearly struggling with her own life.

    Yusef Shanaa

Yusef Shanaa

Played By: Abdelatif Hwidar

Nadia´s and Omar´s father
  • The Bus Came Back: He makes a small cameo in season 7 with Imán when Omar is about to move in with his parents.
  • Character Development: Originally portrayed as a stern, occasionally volatile father and a devout Muslim who believes his children are being corrupted by Spanish values and losing their own, Yusef eventually grows to accept Nadia's choices and Omar's sexuality and has a better relationship with his children for it.
  • Hero Antagonist: For the entire subplot when it came to Omar, whose sexual orientantion he originally rejected, and being overly controlling to both him and Nadia.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: He thinks both Guzman and the school she attends are a bad influence to Nadia, to the point he even threatens to take her out.
  • Immigrant Parents: From Palestine, whereas almost everybody in the show think they´re from Morocco. Truth in Television as Spain has a large Moroccan immigrant population but far fewer Palestinian migrants.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Despite his grouchiness and not letting his children be, Yusef had every right to question the school's views on people like Nadia when Guzman revealed that she was banned from wearing her hijab and threatened with expulsion if she didn't oblige.
    • His reaction when he meets Guzman is pretty reasonable because he's the son of the man responsible for the destruction of the other school Nadia used to attend, even though he never played any part in this.
    • While he might have taken it too far, Yusef was justifiably angry at Omar for not locking up the store, as someone could've broken in to steal money, when he went out partying with Nadia.
    • Despite being sort-of sympathetic to Nadia wanting to prioritize her education, especially when she's about to go to college, he was on point when he told her that someone had to look after things in the store. The facts that Omar moved out to live with Ander when he wasn't supported by his family when he needed it the most and her parents have to go to rehabilitation every afternoon further supports his argument.
  • Open-Minded Parent: It took him some time but he got there in the end. However, even before then, he was perfectly fine with Nadia and Samuel's friendship.
  • Strict Parents Make Sneaky Kids: His offspring are lead to lie to him in order to avoid conflict.
  • Villain Respect: He does not like Guzmàn at all in Season 1, but appears to have enough respect for him to send Nadia back to Las Encinas after he gives him his word that he will leave her alone. Not that Guzmàn ends up keeping it...

    Imán

Imán Shanaa

Played By: Farah Hamed

Nadia´s and Omar's mother
  • The Bus Came Back: She makes a small cameo in season 7 with Yusef when Omar is about to move in with his parents.
  • Open-Minded Parent: Unlike her husband Yusef, she seems to be sort of supportive of Omar's sexual orientation.
  • Morality Pet: To Yusef.
  • Parental Substitute: She acts like this to Lu when she reveals that her parents disowned her, telling her she'll always have a family with the Shanaas.

    Teodoro Rosón

Teodoro Rosón

Played By: Rubén Martínez

Carla´s father
  • Affably Evil: He is very calm and cordial in behavior despite how dangerous he is, although in the first season the only time he ever loses his temper is when Nano blackmailed him with his stolen red watch and complained about the situtation to Carla.
  • Abusive Parents: Carla's parents are shown in season 3 to be absolute nightmares, especially her father. He firstly threatens to harm Samuel, whom he knows Carla loves, so that way she will comply with what he wants and not risk his shady business dealings being exposed. Then he essentially prostitutes her to her wealthy classmate Jeray, having her basically act as an accesory rather than an equal partner with her own mind, to save the family's bankrupt wineries. It is revealed in a later episode that her mother knew the entire time and agreed to this, encouraging Carla to maintain the relationship
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: He and Ventura, his business partner and Guzman and Marina's father, are responsible for the collapse of the San Esteban school and cover their tracks by arranging to have Samuel, Nadia and Christian attend the elitist Las Encinas insitution, where their children also study.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: He is the overarching antagonist in the first three seasons since he holds more threat than Carla, the Big Bad, and the reason why she needs to get the watch back from Marina that resulted in her murder by Polo in the first place to prevent his secrets and crimes held in said watch from being exposed to the world.
  • Karma Houdini: Although Polo was posthumously declared guilty of Marina's murder in the end (thus absolving Nano of all culpability), he still got away with hiding both his complicity in the crime and all of the previous deeds he has done in the past. The only thing bad that happens to him is that he loses all influence over Carla's decisions, especially after how she bravely stood up to him.
  • The Stoic: He doesn't show any emotions for most of the time. Except for one time he got enraged when Nano blackmailed him.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Only when Nano uses the red watch against him. For the remainder of the show, he's still a calm yet genuinely frightening villain.
  • Would Hurt a Child

    Beatriz Caleruega

Beatriz Caleruega

Played By: Lola Marceli

Carla's mother
  • Abusive Parents: The first time she's introduced, she was an aloof neutral no-nonsense woman. However, in season 3, she's shown to be an absolute nightmare as a mother, although to a lesser extent. But that doesn't make her any better than Teo. When Carla tells her about her father forcing her to date Yeray (to whom she's not romantically interested and is clear she misses Samuel even if she won't admit it), as his wealth is their only hope for the wineries to not face bankruptcy, she stays quiet and Carla deduces that she was totally on board with her husband's plan, not even giving a damn about her daughter's needs and encouraging her to keep dating him.
  • It's All About Me: She sides with her husband's plan to force Carla to date Yeray at any cost, so she wouldn't lose her wealthy lifestyle.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: In Season 3, only after she is revealed to have agreed with her husband's plan to set Carla up with Yeray in order to save the wineries from bankruptcy. The way she called her daughter out ("think about our future") was just too cruel.
  • Karma Houdini: Ultimately, Beatriz gets no comeuppance for her part in prostituing her own daughter.
  • Put on a Bus: She's not seen again after admitting to supporting Teo's plan with the wineries.
  • Rich Bitch: And how. She clearly dislikes Christian over his poor background and the advances he makes on Carla.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: She's widely recognized for her vineyard Marquesado de Caleruega, one of the most largest and important in Spain.

    Begoña and Andrea

Begoña and Andrea

Played By: Yaiza Guimaré & Liz Lobato

Polo's mothers
  • Abusive Parents: Polo's mothers are not physically abusive by any means, but they frequently belittle him and question his manhood on more than one occasion.
  • Ascended Extra: They get more prominence in season 3, but mostly Begoña, who actively tries to stop Samuel and Guzman from bullying her son.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Only when they have Samuel and Guzman expelled the day they were supposed to graduate and cancelling Lu and Nadia's scholarships when they publicly bring up the accusations against him, but Polo feels guilty and realizes they've gone too far, so he admits to them that he actually killed Marina. While the damage with Samuel and Guzman is already done and knows he can't do anything to fix it, he does beg them to reinstate the scholarships. They do.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: With Teo in season 3, about Polo's crime - but their agendas against the characters involved are different.
  • Doesn't Know Their Own Child: Begoña and Andrea are both unaware that Polo killed Marina and it doesn't ocur to them that he would be capable of doing such thing.

    Ventura Nunier

Ventura Nunier

Played By: Ramón Esquinas

Guzman and Marina's father, also owner of a major construction company.

  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: His company took shortcuts and used poor material when rebuilding Samuel, Nadia and Christian's old school which led to the building falling in and set the series in motion.
  • The Bus Came Back: Makes two quick appearances with Laura in Season 3, first when they talk about Marina with Guzmán and later come to the school to protest their son's expulsion.

    Armando de la Ossa

Armando de la Ossa

Played By: Andrés Velencoso

A middle-aged businessman and Benjamin's business partner who has a sexual relationship with Mencia.
  • Asshole Victim: In the fourth season finale, Armando is killed by Guzmán with a firework gun in retribution for sexually abusing Mencía and trying to kill Ari, so it's very hard to feel sorry for him. Rebeka even lampshaded it to Omar when he confronted her and Samuel for covering up the murder.
  • Big Bad: In Season 4 for Mencia, entering a sexual relationship with her and threatening to use this against her family.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: He wasn't happy at all when he found out that his friend had taken things with Mencia too far during sex.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: His actions are what drive Benjamin to a Face–Heel Turn in Season 5, and murder Samuel as a result.
  • Hypocrite: While he was sorry for Mencia having been sexually assaulted by his friend, this didn't stop Armando from attempting to do the same with her when she tried to back out of their relationship.
  • Karmic Death: Guzmán kills him with a firework gun.
  • Pet the Dog: He genuinely apologized to Mencia after learning that his friend had taken things too far during sex, gave her a new cellphone and even gave her a lift home to make up for it.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Armando's breakdown is triggered when he grabs Mencía by the face for calling him "crazy" and attacks Ari when she threatens to have him imprisoned by her father.

    Cruz Carvalho

Cruz Carvalho

Played By: Carloto Cotta

Ivan's father

  • Bury Your Gays: He gets brutally beaten to death by three homophobic men in season 6 after he publicly comes out as gay.
  • Hypocrite: He gets upset at his son for having crushes on both Patrick and Ari, while he’s fooling around with Patrick and didn’t completely deny his sexuality.
  • Nice Guy: Despite his immature ways, he seems to be very moral for Patrick and Ivan.
  • Manchild: He acts like a irresponsible party guy than being a full figure grown up.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Season 5 Cruz has a lot of similarities to Brazilian football icons Ronaldo and Ronaldinho (although Cruz is stated to be Portuguese not Brazilian), who were/are as legendary for their off field partying exploits as those they achieved on the field.
    • The name of Cruz's club is also not mentioned, but given their location and colours they appear to be a stand in for Atletico Madrid. Atleti are also notorious for their minority of aggressive right wing supporters.
  • Open-Minded Parent: He supported Ivan for being bisexual and has Patrick as his boyfriend.
  • Parents as People: All this man does is to act like a drunk party person than being a moral and supporting father to Ivan. It got averted near the end of season 5. After coming out as gay during a press conference, he asks Patrick not to tell Iván about the death threats he's been receiving in order to protect him.
    • It's also worth noting that if Ivan is 16/17 at the start of the show and Cruz is a world class footballer at that time, he is probably in his early/mid 30s at the most so he would have been a very young father when he had Ivan. Given this context (along with the general stereotype of professional footballers) some of his flaws and failures make a lot more sense.

    Roberta

Roberta

Played By: Luz Cipriota

  • Blaming the Victim: As the person who's supposed to love her the most, this woman has the audacity to blame her own daughter for bringing the traumatic rape on herself, especially because she was drinking a lot and the clothes she wore were too revealing, which leaves Isadora heartbroken.
  • Blatant Lies: While talking about the charges against her rapists being dropped due to lack of evidence, she smugly tells Isadora that she should've been more cautious with her promiscuity and drinking, all while assuring that she believes her, when she actually doesn't.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Roberta and her husband own a chain of hotels, but she's feuded with Didac's family who run the same business in the Levante part of Spain, resulting in her banning Pau, Dídac's brother, from the club and firing Dídac right on the spot.
  • It's All About Me: She's more worried about Isadora interrupting her DJ job at the nightclub more than her needing a rest by providing her with pills that only worsen her mental state.
  • No Sympathy: She clearly doesn't give a damn about her daughter's panic attacks and traumatic experience of being raped at all, and simply tells her to get over it already.

    Pau

Pau

Played By: Raúl Mérida

    Martín

Roberta

Played By: Leonardo Sbaraglia

Isadora's father
  • Blatant Lies: Martín threatens Dídac to stay away from Isadora. When Pau arrives and asks what's going on, Martín covers it up as a "friendly conversation".
  • Put on a Prison Bus: He is arrested after Isadora tricked him into confessing to his crimes through a hidden microphone provided by the police.

    Carmen

Carmen

Played By: Maribel Verdú

Chloe and Iván's mother
  • The Beard: She turned out to be this for Cruz as a way to silence the rumours about his sexuality.
  • Gold Digger: She was initially after the money Iván inherited from his father.
  • Hypocrite: Carmen stops Chloe from having sex with Ivan by informing he's her brother. However, despite being aware he's her son, she almost does the same to Ivan under the influence of the drugs.
  • Mama Bear: She fiercely protects her daughter from Raul when he is violent to her, pushing him off the roof to his demise, and later giving a false alibi to the police.
  • Parental Incest: She almost has an intimate yet gross moment with Iván when they are both on drugs. Carmen immediately realizes what she's doing and flees from his house disgusted and freaked out.
  • Wacky Parent, Serious Child: Like Iván and Cruz, Carmen's relationship is like this. Carmen is carefree, prone to partying and having sex more often than not, while Chloe is down-to-earth and neglectful to her.

    Catalina

Catalina

Played By: Astrid Jones

Rocío's mother
  • Blatant Lies: Always lies to her own daughter Rocío about her involvement with Martin, which frustrates her and further strains their already distant relationship. Of course, Rocío won't take any of her mom's bullshit.
  • Broken Pedestal: Rocío was implied to look up to her mother as a shining example of seeking justice, only to be disappointed after finding out about her corruption.
  • Corrupt Bureaucrat: She's revealed to be corrupt as she's taking bribes from Isadora's father to push forward the eviction of a building owned by Isadora's House. Yet, everytime she says she won't be doing more favors because of her high position as a judge, Martin makes it clear he's the one who decides when he does or doesn't need her.
  • He Knows Too Much: When Isadora teams up with the police to have her father arrested and arranges a meeting with Catalina at a restaurant to give her back some documents incriminating her in baby trafficking, however, he decides that she's of no more use to him and hires some thugs to kill Catalina as a way to keep her quiet.
  • Hypocrite: Catalina is angry at Rocío for joining the social centre protest where she got arrested as she taught her a lot about justice, yet this woman has the gall to get involved in shady illegal business with Isadora's father and keeps lying to her poor daughter's face.
  • Hypocrite Has a Point: Despite lying to her own daughter about turning corrupt makes her an unfit parent, her anger at Rocío for joining the social centre protest and getting arrested is also understandable.
  • Put on a Prison Bus: She gets arrested separately with Martin for her crimes.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Martín attempts to dispose of her after Isadora intends to give her the documents back, knowing that Catalina will throw him and Roberta under the bus for their crimes.
