The Abarangers

    In general
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/news190523_2_3.jpg
Rampaging Dino Guts! Abaranger!

  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: Fitting with they're name, their usual go-to-strategy in a fight is to go wild and simply attack anything that's a threat, this goes even further when they activate Abare Mode.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: Like the Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger, the Abarangers are a three-ranger team that grows to five as the series continues. However the Hurricangers are based off their animals and ninja elements while the Abarangers are based off of dinosaurs.
    • The Hurricanger trio (Yosuke, Nanami, and Kouta) start the series off already as friends in the Hayate Way Ninja Academy and are chosen to be Hurricangers out of desperation. The Abaranger trio (Ryoga, Yukito, and Ranru) are total strangers with different jobs and careers who happen to unite and become Abarangers because of the large amount of Dino Guts within them.
  • Hot-Blooded: Being fiery and passionate is essentially a requirement to use their powers.
  • Power Trio: They start of a three-person team before being joined by Asuka. Even then, in battle they tend to stick together while Asuka does his own thing.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: Our rangers consist of a Doting Parent who is also an environmental protection investigator, a stoic, no-nonsense chiropractor only interested in money and a plucky mechanic with an obsession over technology, they're joined by a warrior from Another Dimension with a tragic past and a thrill seeking doctor. All united under the large amount of Dino Guts that they all posses.
  • Super Mode: Abare Mode, powered by the Dino Guts within their souls. It makes them even more aggressive but also more powerful.
  • Three Plus Two: They start off with just three, before being joined by Asuka and (much later) Mikoto.
    Ryoga Hakua/AbaRed

Ryoga Hakua/AbaRed/AbareMax

Actor: Koichiro Nishi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ryoga_pic.jpg
A 22-year-old environmental protection investigator from the United States, and the optimistic team leader of the Abarangers. Though he's overly confident, he has an extremely good nature and is friendly, warmhearted, and loving. He was given guardianship of Mai after his brother and sister-in-law died and gave his best to raise her. when the three Bakuryu captured by the Evolian controlled started to rampage through Tokyo, he and Mai tryed to flee while helping other nearby people, but when trying to untie a leashed puppy, he was caught in an accident and was hospitalized, even while Yukito and Ranru had tamed Triceratops and Pteranodon, but after he heard Tyranosaurus' call, he awoke and ran outside to have his Dino Brace tossed to him, becoming AbaRed, but almost getting eaten in the process. He eventually gained the power to become AbareMax.

In the finale, he returned to the USA and traveled across the country along with Mai.

  • All-Loving Hero: Though he's overly confident, he has an extremely good nature and is friendly, warm hearted, and loving - he doesn't hate anyone. Until he meets AbareKiller, that is.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's a very nice guy but even he has his limits. When AbareKiller continually rebuffs his attempts to reach out to him and makes it clear he doesn't care about anyone's lives with his scheme to have Giganoid Jupiter crash the aforementioned planet into Earth, Ryoga gives him a well-deserved beat down as AbareMax that Killer only barely survives because of both Ryoga hesitating to finish him off and then TopGaler saving him before he could fall to his doom.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: Both Ryoga and Yosuke are Hot-Blooded leaders of their team who care a lot about protecting their world from evil. But Yosuke was an inept ninja-in-training who had to learn to be more competent as both a leader and shinobi. Ryoga meanwhile has no trouble acting as the leader of the Abarangers but struggles with balancing his duty as a ranger and as a father. We never see Yosuke's family or even much outside of his life as a Hurricanger, while with Ryoga, his relationship with his niece Mai is one of the most important parts to his character.
  • Disney Death: Appears to perish in the final battle alongside Yukito, the core Bakuryuu and Styraco when Dezumozorlya blows itself up out of spite to take his opponents with him, but turns out to have survived when Yukito had the Bakuryuu dig underground at the last second to escape.
  • Finishing Move: Slash Maximum, as AbareMax.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Ryoga is an absolute sweetheart who's nice to everyone and loves his daughter dearly. That said, he's got no problems with kicking Evolian ass and even human's too if need be. Such as when he punches Mikoto in the face in episode 47 when he starts acting like he's different then everyone else.
  • I Owe You My Life: Mikoto was the doctor who fixed him up in the first episode, which is why he keeps trying to get Mikoto to switch sides.
  • Law of Chromatic Superiority: Ryoga later obtains the power to become AbareMax.
  • The Leader: of the Abarangers.
  • Nature Hero: He is an environmental protection investigator thank you very much.
  • Nice Guy: He is very sweet and polite.
  • Papa Wolf: To Mai and his True Companions who he views as his family, he will not let anyone harm his little girl.
  • Parental Substitute: To his niece Mai after his older brother and sister-in-law died.
  • Pocket Dimension: Explosive Atmosphere Max Field, a battle space where AbareMax can change the surroundings to whatever he wants and even control the physics of the dimesnion.
  • Save the Villain: He tries his hardest to get Mikoto/Abarekiller to join them, almost giving up halfway through when it seemed like there was no way to get through to him. He eventually succeeds.
  • Signature Move: Tyranno Hurricane Attack
  • Super Mode: He gets two, only to be one-upped by someone else and all right before getting his third to catch up.

    Yukito Sanjyou/AbareBlue

Yukito Sanjō/AbareBlue

Actor: Sho Tomita

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sanjo_pic.jpg
A charismatic 21 year old chiropractor and the Anti-Hero of the group, Yukito will help anyone, but charges outrageously high prices for it: in fact, he asked Asuka for U.S. $400,000,000 in order to assume his role as AbareBlue, something Asuka naively accepted and promised to save and pay, much to Yukito's surprise. He seems cold, but has a kind heart underneath, though he will never fully reveal his feelings. Yukito chose to move into the Dino House with the others to avoid having to commute from the area where he lives. Yukito's anti-social personality comes from his past: when he was little, his father tried to groom him into taking over the Sanjou Corporation for the future. Yukito was forced to study daily and was never given breaks; he wasn't even allowed to have any friends. The last straw that broke the father-son relationship was when his father paid his girlfriend's family to move away while he was in junior high. Yukito never forgave him for that and claimed that he hated him, but in reality, he harbored a self-loathing for a long time.

In the finale, Yukito returned to his chiropractor business, and in Dekaranger vs. Abaranger, it seems that Yukito is in a relationship with Emiri. By Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, they're married. His Burstosaur partner is Kera.

  • Abusive Parents: His father made him study 10 hours daily and never gave him breaks - he wasn't even allowed to have any friends.
  • Combat Medic: A chiropractor capable of fixing any skeletal issue who can kick ass.
  • The Comically Serious: He's no-nonsense in attitude yet is the protagonist of one of the goofiest Super Sentai series, as such he ends up on the receiving end of various misfortunes and funny lines all while keeping his stoic and cool demeanor all the same.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: Both Kouta and Yukito are calm and collected individuals, but while Kouta was relaxed and friendly, Yukito is very aloof and cold to his teammates. However, as the series progresses, Yukito begins defrosting his jerkish attitude towards other people and begins to accept his fellow Abarangers as True Companions.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: As mentioned above, his father basically forbade him outside relationships and forced him into doing nothing but studying in order to ensure he wouldn't be distracted from his training to take over his father's company.
  • Disney Death: Appears to perish in the final battle alongside Ryouga, the core Bakuryuu and Styraco when Dezumozorlya blows itself up out of spite to take his opponents with him, but turns out to have survived when he had the Bakuryuu dig underground at the last second to escape.
  • Disguised in Drag: Goes along with Emiri's plan to pretend to be a high-school girl to save everyone to his chagrin.
  • Dr. Jerk: At first he's a disinterested chiropractic who only helps people for the money and initially helps the Abaranger purely because he was compelled to do so by Cera. He gets better about his aloofness as the series progresses.
  • Fallen Princess: He was supposed to be the successor of his father's wealthy company, but they had a fall-out with each other and that led to Yukito leaving his family to work on his own.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: The Phlegmatic.
  • Freudian Excuse: See Abusive Parents above. His past influenced his current aloof personality.
  • Friend to All Children: Seems to have a good connection to kids as early as the start of the series when he goes out of his way to get a little kid's toy out from a bunch of rubble. A lot of the episodes focused on him involve children and the fact that Tricera, the Bakuryuu he's linked with, is considered a child triceratops.
  • Gold Digger: At the beginning he's only interested in fame and fortune and nearly walks away from being an Abaranger out of disinterest in the whole heroism shtick since it doesn't make him money.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's incredibly distant and rude towards the other Abaranger's at first but it's clear he cares for all of them.
  • The Lancer: He's more cold and aloof, to contrast Ryoga's outgoingness.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: Tricera Bunker
    • Shield Bash: He can employ his shield as an impact weapon or drilling tool.
  • Not Quite Dead: Him and Ryouga after the final battle.
  • Signature Move: Tricera Rolling Finish
  • The Smart Guy: When it comes to his chiropractor profession.
  • The Stoic: Rarely flinches, even in the heat of battle.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Borders on this, but given his Dark and Troubled Past, it's not surprising.

    Ranru Itsuki/AbareYellow

Ranru Itsuki/AbareYellow

Actress: Aiko Ito

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ranru_pic.jpg
A 20 year old technology mistress who owns a German BD-1 bicycle she nicknamed "Birdie." All she really wants is peace. She was formerly trained to be an idol, but Ranru hated it and left to work in the mechanical field. She is interested in anything mechanical, can create her own devices, and is a genius in mechanics. Ranru used to be afraid of nattō until she was forced to conquer it during a battle with a Trinoid. Ranru also carries a small camera with her and usually snaps photos of the enemy during mid-battle to come up with a strategy on how to defeat it. She sometimes has an itchy back and often wants others to scratch it for her.

In the finale, Ranru goes to work at a racetrack. Her Burstosaur partner is Ptera.

  • Action Girl: She can fight just as well as her teammates and sometimes even defeats monsters all on her own.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Heavily implied to have a crush on Asuka several times throughout the series, unfortunately for her his heart belongs to his wife, Mahoro and while he considers Ranru a good friend and close confidant, that's as far as his feelings go.
  • Boyish Short Hair: She's got pretty short hair and is probably one of the biggest tomboy's in Sentai.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: Both Nanami and Ranru are the sole female rangers of their team who can fight just as well as the boys, but Nanami is very girlish and has interests in shopping, singing, and cooking, meanwhile Ranru is a Tom Boy who loves technology and creating new gadgets for the Abarangers to use. Nanami also works as an Idol Singer who dreams of becoming famous while Ranru was a former Idol who quit and became a mechanic.
  • Cute Bruiser: Cute, friendly, and can kick your ass.
  • Dual Wielding: Ptera Daggers
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: The Sanguine.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: She's the one one who comes up with most of the technology and gadgets the Abarangers use when they aren't transformed.
  • Genki Girl: She's a very excitable woman and will freak out over seeing any kind of new technology, as seen in Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger vs. Abaranger.
  • Idol Singer: She's started out as one until she became a mechanic.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: It's heavily implied she has one-sided feelings for Asuka, but since he's devoted to Mahoro, Ranru responds by being their most hardcore Shipper on Deck of anyone else for the sake of his happiness.
  • One of the Boys: As a tomboy girl she contrasts Emiri's typical girliness attitude with a much more loud-mouthed and abrasive one.
  • Power Gives You Wings: When she uses Abare Mode.
  • Signature Move: Ptera Spin Crash
  • The Smart Girl: Ranru is a skilled mechanic who is also the most technologically gifted of the group. Developing new technology for the Abaranger's to use.
  • The Smurfette Principle: She's the only female member on the team, she more than makes up for it.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: Tomboy to Emiri's Girly Girl.
  • Wrench Wench: She's a talented mechanic and is the source for all the technological advances for all of the Abarangers.

    Asuka/AbareBlack

Asuka/AbareBlack

Actor: Kaoru Abe

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/asuka_pic.jpg
A warrior from Dino Earth with a sad past. He was the last of the people who fought the Evolians and escaped to Earth. He brought the Dino Bracelets and gave them to the Abarangers. When he arrived, the Dino Harp was damaged, so he couldn't transform. When he got it finally restored, he lost his first battles as he couldn't use his Dino Guts correctly, until his true sense of justice awakened. Asuka has shown enormous amounts of power, as he has been able even of defeating a Giganoid and an upgraded KillerGhost on his own: however, due to his gentle personality, he often holds back during battles. In one episode, it was revealed that his surname was "Ono", although he only uses it on Another Earth. His Burstosaur partner is Brachio.

In the finale, Asuka and Mahoro named their new child Mikoto, after AbareKiller, and returned to Dino Earth with his family and the Burstosaurs. He would return in two Reunion Shows following the series; The first is during their team-up with the Dekarangers, where he was brought back to Earth by his daughter's power to help the gang, and he was able to rescue Ryouga and Ban/DekaRed from Kazaku before they joined up with the others. His second appearance is in the GoGo Sentai Boukenger vs. Super Sentai anniversary movie with Bracho and his second child. He along with Tsubasa, Tetsu, and Nanami helped Eiji out during his battle with Chronos. He transferred his "Passionate Spirit" power to AkaRed to power DaiVoyager.

  • Anime Hair: Has spiky hair.
  • The Big Guy: He's a tough warrior who can fight giant monsters on foot.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: When he wore the Armor of Darkness he turned into a raging berserker driven only by the Armor's malevolence and attacking any and everything that dared to cross paths with him.
  • Butt-Monkey: Asuka goes through a lot of humiliating and hilarious situations at various points in the series, usually a result of whatever issue the Trinoids or his own team stirs up.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: Asuka and the Gouraigers are additional rangers that join the main Power Trio once they've been established but are not considered Sixth Ranger's for a few reasons (the Gouraigers are considered their own separate faction while Asuka has been with them since the start.) However, the Gouraigers were a pair of haughty, arrogant, rangers who opposed the Hurricangers at the start and later turned good but still remained reluctant to work with them. While Asuka is a single, humble, ranger who joins the rest of the Abarangers once he gets his power to transform back.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Spent years fighting the Evolians and at one point tried using the Armor of Darkness which caused him to attack his allies and in turn severely traumatized him and gave him an eternal fear of the Armor and his own power.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: His costume is mostly black with golden and purple highlights but he is definitely on the side of good, which contrasts with Dr. Nakadai's Light Is Not Good. Even during his tenure of using of the Armor of Darkness he's by far the least evil of all its users and hesitates at several points to harm his friends until the Armor exerts its will over him.
  • Disney Death: Seemingly dies in episode 32 when he is caught in the explosion of the Anomalogaris after defeating Jeanne. He survived by taking the Armor of Darkness once again and using its power to escape with the now-normal Mahoro.
  • Dumb Is Good: Somewhat. On account of being Trapped in Another World, he's unfamiliar with a lot of things, though he's not exactly stupid and can be quite quick on his feet.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: He goes through an absolute ringer of losing his wife, finding out she's been possessed by the Evolians and getting possessed by the Armor of Darkness again. But at the end he liberates his world from the Evolians and gets back his wife (who he thought was dead) and daughter, eventually going back home with the other Bakuryuu.
  • Elemental Powers: His Dino Thruster has four different elemental attacks.
  • Facial Markings: Claws actually.
  • Fish out of Water: Since he's from another world.
  • Finishing Move: Dino Thruster...
    • Circle Moon
    • Crescent Moon
    • Head Crash
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: The Melancholic.
  • Genius Bruiser: He is a Fish out of Water in Another Earth due to all the difference in technology and society, but he is not stupid. And when he cuts loose he's capable of defeating a giant sized monster on his own.
  • Mr. Exposition: He explains crucial things about Dino Earth and the Abarangers' arsenal to others, as he is from Dino Earth and having fought the Evolien for longer than anyone else is more aware of what is going on and the various secrets of the battle.
  • My Greatest Failure: His attempt at using the Armor of Darkness to help his people lead to disaster so much that he had that memory sealed away from him for his own good.
  • Only One Name: Subverted, he has a last name, Ono, but only uses it in DinoEarth.
  • Proud Warrior Race Guy: Averted. He's a Dino Human who are known for being deadly warriors and he himself is one of their best, but he's a pretty friendly guy.
  • Royal Rapier: His Dino Thruster is a pretty powerful one, capable of being used in both long and short range confrontations.
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: Him and Mahoro aka Jeanne fits this to a T. They got better temporarily, but after that, they enter a Dating Catwoman scenario due to a role reversal after Asuka takes the Armor of Darkness from Jeanne. But in the end, both are able to reunite for good when Dezumozorlya is killed.
  • Supporting Leader: Is technically the leader of the Abarangers, but Ryoga is The Hero and thus the one front and center while Asuka takes a backseat.
  • Trapped in Another World: A warrior from Dino Earth who winds up trapped on Earth for the entire series after barely escaping the Evoliens' assault to find the three humans who become the Abarangers.

    Mikoto Nakadai/AbareKiller

Mikoto Nakadai/AbareKiller

Actor: Kotaro Tanaka

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mikoto_pic.jpg
"How exciting"
A brilliant doctor who was bored with life until he saw the Evolian-controlled Burstosaurs attack the city, but was disappointed that they were used for good. He later found the egg of Burstosaur TopGaler and the DinoMinder and became AbareKiller. The DinoMinder, however, was unstable as it was made for the Legendary Zero Warrior on Dino Earth in the war against the Evolian.
  • The Ace: Deconstructed. Since nothing was ever a challenge for him, it rendered him bored, prevented him from having friends and ultimately left him straggling through life despite his success seeking what he could never get due to his own perfection: excitement.
  • Back from the Dead:
    • He gets accidentally resurrected by Sauneelgingko in Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger vs. Abaranger due to the Trinoid resurrecting "The Strongest Denizen of Hell". He helps his team and the Dekarangers defeat the Trinoid, despite knowing that doing so would end with him dying again but this time he is able to part on more peaceful terms and gets proper closure with his friends.
    • Also gets another for the Legend War in Gokaiger amongst all the other dead Sentai members, but it's a temporary thing yet again.
    • He gets resurrected one more time by Abarengekko in Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger 20th: The Unforgivable Abare, although he is brainwashed to be evil again. Ryoga manages to snap him out of it, allowing him to fight along with his team against the Trinoid. Once Abarengekko is destroyed, he goes back to the afterlife once again.
  • Badass Boast:
    • Delivers one to Dezumozorlya.
Mikoto: Your avatar? Don't get me wrong, I'm human. I'm myself, even if there is a part of you within me, I can easily destroy it. I'll live as myself, and continue to live!! That is my greatest excitement.
    • He gets an even better one after being resurrected by Saunagingan in Dekaranger vs Abaranger.
Saunagingan: What is this? We were supposed to have resurrected the strongest denizen of Hell!
Mikoto: And you expected someone else?
  • Badass Bookworm: Comes with the territory of being both a ranger and a doctor.
  • Badass Longcoat: Of the long white variety.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: Is easily the most dangerous villain when he first appears, setting him up as the Big Bad. But later he gets pushed out of the position when Dezumozorya makes his presence truly known and reveals the role of Mikoto in his plans making it clear he never stood a chance to truly be the biggest fish around.
  • Blood from the Mouth: Moments before he dies he starts spitting out blood, indicating that both his injuries and the Dino Minder are doing him in.
  • Body Horror: Bleeds from immense wounds after Dezumozorlya impales him in the gut and following him purging the other half of Dezumozorlya from his body leaving the Dino Minder at its most unstable and thus that happens mere moments before the Dino Minder explodes, killing him for good.
  • Broken Ace: It's eventually revealed that nothing in civilian life was ever a challenge for him due to being the host for half of Dezumozorya, leading to his complete boredom and lack of social kills and friends which furthered his loneliness.
  • Catchphrase: "How exciting".
  • Character Development: He starts out a badass but completely aimless person who has no real end game goal or even ambitions beyond having fun. After joining the Evolian he develops a more complex scheming persona but still mostly has no ambitions of conquest and focuses purely on sadistic games. Then after gradually becoming more and more complacent and ineffective it all changes when he realizes what the Evolian intended for him and after his eventual defection he manages to not only become a better person but also realize more concrete goals: Saving Earth and stopping the Evolian threat for good.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: Shurikenger and Mikoto are both unconventional Sixth Ranger's who enter the story as Wild Card's but contrast greatly in personality and role. Shurikenger establishes himself early on as an ally to the Hurricangers and is very friendly and polite but remains a complete mystery with nobody knowing his real face or identity. Mikoto is introduced with his own backstory and motive for seeking excitement in his life and begins the series as a violent thrill seeker who opposes both the Abarangers and the Evolians for his own amusement before he joining with Evolians and becoming the main villain of the series for a while.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Most of his early fights have him dishing this out to the Abarangers. This got turned on him with AbareMax, who kicked his butt with ease in return in all their fights, even when Killer tried to pull the trick that let him turn the tables on Ryoga in their first direct confrontation (after Ryoga had been throughouly kicking his ass in a fit of rage) he wounds up just getting beaten up even harder than before and damn near killed if it wasn't for Top Galer saving him at the last moment.
  • Deadly Doctor: He's a talented physician, as well as deadly fighter when he gains his powers and trains for 6 months to master them.
  • Death Seeker: He's so bored he doesn't even care about his own life when he hears that repeated use of the Dino Minder will inevitably culminate in it destroying him.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: Assumes leadership of the Evolians for a brief period, though even then it's apparent he's just filling in for when Dezumozorlya regains his full power. Sure enough, he's eventually revealed to have been manipulated his entire life and swept aside when Dezumozorlya draws closer to revival, becoming a simple pawn that would've been effortlessly consumed had the Abaranger not reached out to him.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Kills DezumoVoorla (the fused form of Mikela and Voffa) while piloting Killer-Oh for their attempts to turn him into a vessel/sacrifice for Dezumozorlya throughout the whole season and as payback for Dezumozorlya ruining his life from his birth.
  • Dr. Jerk: He saved lives as a doctor, including Ryouga's, but not out of anything resembling altruism he did it simply to get by and see if he could enjoy the expereince. When Ryouga confronts him about this, Mikoto claims that saving his life was simply a game.
  • Drunk with Power: He gets the power to become an Abaranger, and sees it as his right to do as he pleases, eventually joining the Evolien to make his "game" more exciting.
  • 11th-Hour Ranger: While many classify him as a Sixth Ranger, it should be noted that he joined the team near the end of the series. He did help out the Abarangers a few times, but before his proper turn
  • Enemy Mine: In Abaranger DELUXE: Abare Summer is Freezing Cold he opts to send Stego and Top to assist the Abarangers against Galvidi, after he'd gotten his ass handed to him by the Dimensional Thief and thus recognized him as the biggest priority to take care of.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Does care about Lije despite his outwardly aloof and manipulative attitude towards her enough that when she starts being painfully taken over by Dezumozorlya as Lijewel and tries to save him he is genuinely shocked and after making a Heel–Face Turn he joins the effort to save her. Even after his resurrection he recognizes her as Asuka's daughter and tells him to give her his regards before he fades back to the afterlife.
  • Evil Genius: He's a medical doctor and a member of the Evolians, though his field of expertise doesn't really tie in to his villainy, it was more of a side gig he did to try and entertain himself as he did not care for saving human lives.
  • Evil Laugh: Indulges in this occasionally, mostly when he truly starts to enjoy his games.
  • Face Death with Dignity:
    • He's pretty beat up and weakened but he does his best at this simply telling the Abaranger to try to escape the Dino Minder's blast and leave him as Ryoga and the rest have to go to Mai's recital. Once Top Galer pulls him away from the city he likewise tells him to just toss him into space and return to the rest though Top Galer opts to die with him. In his final moments he simply muses how he finds it ironic that despite his own nihilistic attitude towards life throughout the series, he for once wants to live.
    • Has one more fitting his typical character in Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger vs. Abaranger after getting temporarily brought back. Upon seeing everyone hesitate to finish off Sauneelgingko because it would send him back to death Mikoto says he's perfectly ok with that, "Just make it exciting" and once the deed is done he tells Asuka to give his regards to his daughter as he fades away back to the afterlife.
  • For the Evulz: His motive for 90% of the series is to alleviate his own crushing boredom resulting from his perfection at everything.
  • Freudian Excuse Denial: When he learns that Dezumozorlya has been influencing him since his childhood he does not uses the entity's influence as anything resembling an excuse for his actions and merely accepts and states that his evil acts were done willingly. He instead vows to overcome his own vileness for once and to truly atone for his crimes by saving the world as a genuine hero.
  • Genius Bruiser: He is a genius doctor, and is able to beat the four Abarangers singlehandedly for most of the series.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After learning the Awful Truth from Ryoga, he teams up with the Abarangers more frequently and leaves the Evolien's side to get back at the latter for using him before growing to legitimately like being a hero over time, wanting to save Lije from Dezumozorlya and finally truly joining the team near the end.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: He destroys the Another Earth half of Dezumozorlya within him, removing the one thing that kept the Dino Minder from killing him outright, eventually his injuries and the Dino Minder's backlash do him in and he opts to be taken to the atmosphere and die alone before TopGaler opts to die with him instead.
  • Heroic Will Power: He is not lying when he said he can destroy Dezumozorlya within him anytime, during his last battle he even managed to draw and take advantage of Dezumozorlya's regenerating power to use his and the other Abarangers' Dino Guts to fully exterminate the Dezumozorlya half inside of him.
  • Heroism Motive Speech: He delivers one in his final episode: he agrees with the Dezumozorlya that Humans Are Flawed and have "demons" inside of them accepting himself as the one truly responsible for all his heinous actions throughout the series, but he's seen humans fight and struggle to overcome those demons (namely the Abaranger), and so will he, right before he purges Dezumozorlya's half fom his body with the help of everyone's Dino Guts.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: Despite his perfection at everything in life, he never felt like he accomplished anything and always felt bored and unchallenged, he becomes an evil warrior so he can make a challenge out of defeating the Abaranger and using his power to cause mayhem with his powers until they backfire from repeated uses and destroy him.
  • Irony: As he’s dying, he acknowledges to TopGaler that for all his Death Seeker tendencies, he for once actually wants to live.
  • It's All About Me: Only cared for his selfish desire to feel excitement at first, any cause he joined or supported was means to an end. Either being a Wild Card, assisting the Abarangers against the Evolian or even being the Evolians' leader. He grows out of it in the final arc after some revelations and reflections on himself.
  • It's Personal: He has zero tolerance for being used as an Unwitting Pawn by the Evolians to resurrect Dezumozorlya and after being saved he turns against them to the point he outright leaves his enmity with the Abaranger behind so he can focus his games on ending the Evolians once and for all.
  • Image Song: "Dead End Game." Instrumental versions of the song ocasionally played throughout the series.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: In spite of his Heel–Face Turn, however late it was, Mikoto's soul was not pardoned for his crimes (which he himself admitted were willingly done) and wound up sent to Hell along with all the other wicked beings that the Super Sentai teams defeated throughout the years, luckily for everyone it allows him to indirectly thwart Dezumozorlya's resurrection in Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger vs. Abaranger when Sauneelgingko inadvertedly revives him trying to resurrect the Evolien God. He's shown in a significantly more pleasant looking afterlife in Gokaiger, alongside fellow fallen Sentai members Burai and Naoto, suggesting that in the years since he'd managed to make up for his sins.
  • Killed Off for Real: Like Yuki Gai/Black Condor, Burai/DragonRanger and Naoto/TimeFire before him, he dies in the final act of the series and stays dead for the rest of the series; making him one of the few Sentai rangers to die and not get resurrected or have a successor pick up his mantle.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Abaranger is initially a lighthearted and often surreal series. Then this guy shows up and not only hands repeated defeats to the Abarangers, he deals blows to their optimistic view of the world. And if that wasn't enough, when his connection and true role in Dezumozorlya's plans come up, things go to hell real quick and his dark past ends up all the more screwed up for it.
  • Light Is Not Good: He's a white ranger. Not only he's wearing white, rangers are supposed to be good! Yet he's using all his 'good' power for evil and sick amusement. That is until his very late Heel–Face Turn which sticks.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: His Ranger name has killer in it and he's one of the most powerful Sentai rangers to ever exist.
  • No Challenge Equals No Satisfaction: His backstory. He was naturally good at anything he tried, and spent the majority of his life bored out of his skull as a result.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: He constantly got close to Jeanne's face, either to take part of her power from her face's claw marks or as a show of power over her. It's most notable in episode 40, where after Mahoro (the reformed Jeanne) meets him on his resort house, he cups her face when she proposes joining forces again to defeat Asuka and steal the Armor of Darkness form him, mainly to make sure she's being legit and to show her she will be subservient to him once again.
  • My Hero, Zero: His DinoMinder was made for the Legendary Zero Warrior on DinoEarth in the war against the Evolian. Though he himself subverts it by revealing himself a Wild Card and later evolving into a full-blown villain. Until the final episodes where he double subverts it and becomes a hero for real and for the rest of the franchise.
  • The Pen Is Mightier: His Wing Pentact is a pen-shaped feather-like sword which he can use for a variety of attacks and techniques.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • He treated Lije rather kindly during his time as the Evolien's leader whenever Dezumozorlya wasn't taking her over. Granted most of it was manipulation to get her to do things for him, but later on it is clear he has a fondness for her.
    • When the Abarangers indirectly save him from being trapped by Mikela and Voffa in Giganoid Inextinguishable, he returns the favor and helps them take down the Giganoid.
  • Redemption Equals Death: A bittersweet one at that considering he's a Death Seeker until that time. Before dying he takes full accountibility for his actions, and summons Topgaler to bring him into space where the Dino Minder can safely explode without hurting anyone.
  • Redemption Promotion: Surprisingly one of the few examples in the franchise. In the later arcs of the series he had been going through a period of Villain Decay. After making a a Heel–Face Turn, he takes a level in badass and stays badass for the rest of the franchise, during his return in Tokusou Sentai Dekanger vs. Abaranger he singlehandedly turns the tide of the fight in the heroes' favor and ensures the climatic battles are all massive curb-stomps in both small and giant scale.
  • Red Visor, Take Warning: Spends most of the series as a very strong and dangerous villain. While there has been past rangers with red visors, his is also a particularly bloody shade of red complimented by its jagged design making the visor even more wicked than the usual example.
  • Revenge: His initial reason for pulling a Heel–Face Turn is not for altruistic reasons, but due to the Evolians using him for their own ends. He eventually switches gears to legitimately helping people, mainly his fellow Abaranger, albeit still desiring some payback
  • The Smart Guy: He is a medical doctor after all and has had expertise in various fields since his childhood.
  • Sixth Ranger Traitor: When he first appears the Abarangers assume he's going to be their new member. Nakadai quickly clarifies this is not the case instead being a mere third party out to entertain himself by fighting everyone else. Later on he goes on to join the Evoliens as their self-proclaimed leader by force and amps his game's destruction.
    • Sixth Ranger: Though he does end up joining the team eventually. Because of how late in the game he joined, there was debate on the subject amongst fans as to whether or not he was one of these, eventually Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger officially counted him as a sixth ranger.
  • Strong and Skilled: He wasn't complacent enough to rely on Killer's raw power to win when he got a hold of the Dino Minder, he trained for six months to both handle the strain of the Dino Minder and to become a stronger and more refined warrior, leading to his dominant power in the series.
  • Super-Speed: One of his preferred attacks: he can move at breakneck speed for a few seconds, allowing him to get in several hits faster than his opponents can block.
  • Sympathetic Murderer: Often killed several Trinoids and Giganoids that got in his way before joining the Evolien, while not doing it for any altruistic or selfless reasons he nonetheless got rid of some genuinely evil forces along the way.
  • Tall, Dark, and Snarky: With the "snark" part aimed at basically everyone.
  • Transformation Sequence: Averted. He doesn't have a dedicated or flashy transformation sequence unlike most Rangers, even one-off ones, even when he joins the team. It's not even remotely similar to the other Abarangers; it simply consists of whirling energies surrounding him as he transforms in a flash. The only time AbareKiller gets to be part of a proper sequence is the recreation of the show's sequence in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger for the Abaranger tribute episode, though Mikoto as AbareKiller never gets one himself, even when he reappears, demorphing THEN remorphing.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Unfortunately for him, Dezumozorlya had been influencing him into committing villainy the whole time, without him even realizing it. And Dezumozorlya isn't the only one to manipulate him either, after a string of losses and having his ego crushed over and over the Evolien began to easily sucker him into playing into their hands for Dezumozorlya's full resurrection, with him nearly coming close to being reduced to a living battery/food for the Wicked Life God to get his full power. Had it not been for the Abarangers pushing on to save him, he would've been done for by the scheme with Giganoid #11 Inextinguishable.
  • Villain Decay: Initially Killer is a massive threat that easily beats up the Abaranger has one of the most powerful Bakuryuu on his side and steals several of the heroes Bakuryuu as well, he even crushes the Evoliens whenever they cross paths all the while whooping it up and having the time of his life at dominating all sides. He doesn't really have a plan or goal beyond "Have a fun game" though which means he never really presses his advantage much even when he becomes the Evolien's leader. Once AbareMax and MaxOhJa show up the power gap between him and the heroes is filled and as Mikoto gets more and more arrogantly careless he falls more and more for the Evolien's manipulation and Stego becomes more and more disillusioned with him which weakens KillerOh's power; on top of underestimating Max's power over and over leading to his plans being foiled over and over with more ease than his earliest ones until he ends up no less ineffective than the Evolien forces he looked down upon. Eventually he begins losing to Ryouga more and more and each following defeat get increasingly pathetic. Then he switches sides and starts to gain his effectiveness back now that his head is on straight again.
  • Villainous Crush: Heavily implied to have had one on Jeanne; he acts a bit flirtatious around her, told her to submit to him in case she lost when she fought him for control of the Dino Minder, and hunts her down when she returns from her apparent death but amnesiac, being disappointed that she no longer is a fierce woman but rather scared and finally, when she makes a call to the Invasion Garden telling them of her return to the Evolian as Jeanne again (unknowingly to him, as part of a plan to save Asuka) he drops everything he's doing to find her and isn't content with Lijewel attacking her in a jealous rage.
  • World's Strongest Man: According to Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger vs. Abaranger he's the strongest denizen of Hell. And given how that crossover is all but stated to be in a Shared Universe of all Sentais, it makes him the most powerful antagonist of the franchise up until that point. Though at that point he also was no longer a villain or antagonist.

The Bakuryu

    Tyranno

Tyranno / Bakuryu Tyrannosaurus

Voice actor: Takashi Nagasako

Ryoga's partner and the strongest of the original three Bakuryu, a gruff and rough Tyrannosaurus rex Bakuryuu who forms most of the body of AbarenOh.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Introduced as such, thankfully he is saved from it when Ryoga acquires the powers of AbaRed.
  • Commonality Connection: Connects with Ryoga on the issue of fatherhood, since Ryoga is raising his niece who was orphaned while he is a father who outlived his child.
  • Cool Old Guy: An older Bakuryu who had a family of his own before losing it to the Evolian and is presented as a kindhearted and very badass fighter.
  • Crusading Widow: Lost his wife to the Evolian War prior to the series, her death is one of his main motivations for fighting the Evolien.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He had a wife and a child prior to the Evolian attack, he lost both to their assaults and ever since has been heartbroken by their deaths.
  • Evil Counterpart: His is the Fearsome Bakuryu Carnoryutus, who makes up the core of BakurenOh.
  • Lightning Bruiser: He is gigantic, the largest of the core three Bakuryu, but despite that he is extremely fast.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: His child died in the war against the Evolian, it drives his attempts to make Ryoga and Mai closer, despite Ryoga being her uncle, he wants Ryoga to have the chance at a peaceful and happy fatherhood he never had himself.
  • Passing the Torch: Constantly encourages Ryoga to be the parent he couldn't be.
  • Taking the Bullet: Attempts this in the finale when the fully resurrected Dezumozorlya delivers a deadly blow to the heroes he attempts to take the full brunt and at first seems resigned to die until he remembers his dead wife and children and resolves to live on and defeat the evil behind their deaths so he can eventually face them again in the future.
  • This Is a Drill: His entire tail is a drill which he can use for attacks even without turning into AbarenOh's body.
  • Verbal Tic: "Tera"

    Tricera

Tricera / Bakuryu Triceratops

Voice actor: Kōki Miyata

Yukito's partner, a triceratops child who serves as one of AbarenOh's arms.

    Ptera

Ptera / Bakuryu Pteranodon

Voice actress: Emi Shinohara

Ranru's partner, a female pteranodon who acts as AbarenOh's crown and chest piece. She can also act as a boomerang projectile: The Ptera Dagger.

    Brachio

Brachio / Bakuryu Brachiosaurus

Voice actor: Banjo Ginga

Asuka's partner, a brachiosaurus mech that serves as a carrier for the other Bakuryuu.
  • Humongous Mecha: Dwarfs even the largest combinations of Bakuryuu.
  • Martial Pacifist: In a subversion, he's not really good in battle despite his massive size and his adherence to non-action initiatives.
  • Non-Action Guy: For the most part only acts a carrier for the smaller Bakuryu, and the few times he does fight on his own he loses very badly.
  • Secret-Keeper: Knew of Asuka's past of taking the Armor of Darkness and going berserk with it. He withheld the truth from his partner since he knew Asuka would not like knowing about it.
  • Shout-Out: His pre-battle phrases are taken from other Tokusatsu theme songs or a poem.
  • Verbal Tic: "Bura".

    Bachycelo

Bachycelo / Bakuryu Bachyceloknuckles

Voice actress: Sayaka Aida

The first of the auxiliary Bakuryu to be introduced, found as an egg.
  • Babies Make Everything Better: Averted, he grew up before we could see whether the trope would be played straight.
  • Out of Focus: Like Dimenoko he gets little to not focus in the series outside of his debut episode and AbareKiller kidnapping him. His combination with AbarenOh is only seen twice in the series to boot.
  • Punny Name: His name doesn't only reflect his speciesnote  but also includes an onomatopoeia for jabbingnote  and the native word for punchnote . The last part of the name also resembles the word "knuckles".
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Attacks by pummeling with his boxing glove like fists.
  • Verbal Tic: "Baki"

    Dimenoko

Dimenoko / Bakuryu Dimenokodon

Voice actor: Daisuke Kishio

The second auxiliary Bakuryu to appear, was found rampaging and needed to be calmed by Asuka's harmonica.
  • Chainsaw Good: He has a buzzsaw for a fin.
  • Out of Focus: Like Bachycelo he gets little to not focus in the series outside of his debut episode and AbareKiller kidnapping him. His combination with AbarenOh is only seen once in the series to boot.
  • Punny Name: Dimetrodon + nokonote .

    Stego

Stego / Bakuryu Stegoslidon

Voice actor: Hiroshi Iida

The third auxiliary Bakuryu found, later became an integral part of KillerOh. After being abducted and controlled by AbareKiller's power, he broke free only to return to him, intent becoming stronger as Mikoto's secondary but constantly-used Bakuryuu. Since Brachio wasn't capable of battling, he served as Asuka's partner a few times.
  • And This Is for...: Says this in Episode 49 against Dezumozorlya for Mikoto and Topgaler.
Stego: This is revenge for Mikoto and Topgaler-tego!
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Temporarily by AbareKiller, who uses him as the last component to complete KillerOh.
  • Crying Wolf: In Episode 44 he tries to get the Abaranger to help him in saving Mikoto from his own desire for deadly games as the time limit of the Dino Minder starts to reach its end, but upon them giving him their reluctant trust Mikoto appears to beat them up and they understandably think that Stego was just tricking them to get them killed. Luckily they don't hold it against him.
  • Easily Forgiven: Downplayed. No one on the good guys' side holds it against him for too long despite willingly siding with Mikoto and assisting the Evoliens' schemes even given his own reasons for it and is accepted back into their ranks without a fuss beyond Brachio reprimanding him upon rejoining.
  • Face–Heel Turn: After being broken out of his brainwashing, he voluntarily sides with Mikoto and Top. Except not as he was just trying to convince Mikoto to give up on his "games".
  • I Just Want to Be Badass: The feigned reason why he opts to join Mikoto at first. For the Abaranger's he's situational assistance at best as an auxiluary mecha, but as KillerOh he forms most of the robot (Stego is the head and main body, Top Galer is the limbs and weapon) meaning that if he wants to make use of his full battle potential it's got to be with Mikoto of course his actual concern was to stop Mikoto from going on with his deadly games and he feels really bad about willingly betraying his friends and assisting the Evolien in their schemes with his compliance.
  • Punny Name: Stegosaurus + "slide on". Stegosaurus + "ride on" also works.

    Parasa

Parasa / Bakuryu Parasaurokkiru

Voice actor: Kōzō Shioya

The fourth additional Bakuryu to be found, he landed on the wrong place by more than a few miles.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: Somewhat justified as he apparently picked it up wandering around the Juan Fernades Islands which is where he spent the beginning of the series before realizing everyone else was over in Japan.
  • Improbable Weapon User: His tail becomes a pair of scissors.
  • Latin Land: So much for the first non-Moai allusion to Chilean territory in Tokusatsu.
  • The Nose Knows: He realized Asuka had come to Another Earth by detecting his smell. From the opposite corner of the Pacific, nonetheless.
  • Punny Name: Parasaurolophus + kirunote .

    Ankylo

Ankylo / Bakuryu Ankyloveils

Voice actress: Akemi Misaki

The fifth additional Bakuryu, and second female Bakuryu overall. She turned her debut episode into a Hide'n'Seek game.

    Top

Top / Bakuryu TopGaler

Voice actor: Hikaru Midorikawa

Mikoto's partner, has a similar personality to him. He has the ability to combine with any other Burstosaur.

  • The Ace: Is thought to be the strongest Bakuryuu besides Styraco and BakurenOh's components and is capable of combining with any other in many ways.
  • Back from the Dead:
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Sometimes expresses concern over Mikoto's schemes, though not enough to do much besides that. He even shows early on that he might've been hoping Mikoto switched sides to help the Abarangers.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Switches sides when he realizes that the Evolians were using Mikoto in order to rescue his partner.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Flies Mikoto away from the city so the explosion of the Dino Minder won't hurt anyone else, but despite Mikoto's requests to escape he choses to die along with him.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Becomes this with Mikoto as the series progresses. To the point that he accompanies his partner in his final moments and implicitly keeps him company in Hell.
  • Light Is Not Good: For the same reasons as Mikoto above.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: He was subtly implied to have his reservations about going along with Mikoto's plans but went through with them out of loyalty which he feigned as being mere "interest" in his partner's games. He eventually subverts this in episode 42 once it becomes clear how self-destructive Mikoto was getting, at which that point Top opts to ditch him and only returns to save him from Giganoid Inextinguishable's clutches.
  • Redemption Equals Death: Along with Mikoto.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: A red eyed Bakuryu, to indicate he is not one of the good guys.
  • Stealth Pun: While not noticeable in the romanization, Top Galer's name does in fact allude to his species. "Topu"note  resembles "Tupu" (as in "Tupuxuara"), the only difference being a consonant doubler in place of a small vowelnote .
  • Super-Speed: Similar to Mikoto he is capable of moving and attacking at overwhelming speeds.
  • The Trope without a Title: Calls Mikoto "human" throughout the series as a way of showcasing his supposed lack of care about his partner. He only calls him by his name when Mikoto is about to die.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Mikoto, to the point where he’s willing to die with him instead of abandoning him.
  • Verbal Tic: "Gera"

    Styraco

Styraco/Bakuryu Styracosaurus

AbareMax's Bakuryu, who was only a legend until it was awakened, though it's not much of a partner since it doesn't speak. It is always seen pulling a chariot called the DinoCarry, which it can combine with to form MaxOhja.
  • The Ace: Alongside Top it is the strongest individual Bakuryuu, capable of becoming a Mecha all on its own, its other combined forms are all extremely powerful and his additaments are shown to be easily capable of making the strongest combinations (MaxOhja, MaxRyuOh, OOAbarenOh).
  • All Your Powers Combined: Can unite with Bachycelo, Dimenoko, Parasa, and Ankylo to form MaxRyuOh.
  • Shoulders of Doom: Its chariot's wheels become shoulder weapons as MaxOhJa which can be used to attack and finish off opponents.
  • Spiked Wheels: The chariot it pulls has armed wheels.
  • The Speechless: Of all of the Bakuryu, he is not heard speaking once in human language as he is far older than humanity and thus never learned to speak our tongue.
  • Transforming Mecha: Turns into MaxOhja by combining with the DinoCarry.
  • The Unintelligible: Because it is an ancient Bakuryuu, it cannot speak to humans and only ever communicates through other means.

Allies

    Emiri Imanaka

Emiri Imanaka

Actress: Michi Nishijima

Emiri is a high school student. When the Burstosaurs first came to earth, Emiri heard their call and almost became AbareYellow. Unfortunately, her body was unable to support the transformation, but Emiri contributes for the team, such as suggesting names (she came up with Bakuryū Sentai Abaranger, AbareMax and SenpuGoraiAbarenOh when the other heroes donated their Dinoguts to AbarenOh in Abaranger vs. Hurricaneger). She tries her hardest to become an Abaranger and eventually does after Tensaikku's defeat in terms of AbarePink (or "AbarePig" as Yukito called her), where she turned herself into a pig using psychic powers. One of her many mishaps are the time that Voffa tried to turn her into Giganoid #6: Giant. Later in the series, Emiri creates her own AbarePink suit (of course without powers), in order to convince her parents to let her stay at the Dino Curry House, but this suit lasted for only a single episode. Emiri also nicknames herself as "Emi-pon." The epilogue of the show and Dekaranger vs. Abaranger seems to imply that she is in a relationship with Yukito and that she went to work for him. By Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, they're married.
  • Butt-Monkey: If something bad gone happen is almost always her. Most notable when she is turned in giant and later frozen in movie.
  • Joke Character: Her AbarePink persona has no superpowers and is merely her attempts at proving herself.
  • Ordinary High-School Student: Next to the other more outlandish characters in the series she's more or less a normal girl who finds herself caught up in all the crazy situations of the series.
  • Refused by the Call: She heard Bakuryuu Pteranodon calling for help and almost become AbareYellow, but her body was unable to support the transformation.
  • Second Love: To Yukito, who she becomes an Official Couple with.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: Girly Girl to Ranru's Tomboy.

    Ryunosuke Sugishita

Ryunosuke Sugishita

Actor: Kouen Okumura

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ryunosuke_sugishita_ep17.jpg
Sugishita runs a curry restaurant called Dino House, which is the Abarangers' base of operations. When the Burstosaurs' first came to Earth, Sugishita heard their call and almost became AbareBlue. Unfortunately, his body was unable to support the transformation. Kind and supporting of the Abaranger, he often gives advice and helps the team whenever possible. After the fight against the Evolians, Sugishita's curry business became extremely successful and resulted in him receiving great wealth and setting up a global chain of Dino House curry restaurants, as seen in Dekaranger vs. Abaranger. However, he lost ownership to Yatsudenwani. Dino House is a recurring element of some Vs movies; characters from Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger through Engine Sentai Go-onger have met each other through Ryunosuke and the restaurant. Emiri nicknames him "Suke-san."
  • Cool Old Guy: He's an old man who loves dinosaurs and is shown to be a really nice and helpful person towards the Abaranger as their benefactor.
  • Non-Action Guy: Considers he's an old man and can't Abare Change, Sugishita assists them by being their benefactor instead.
  • Refused by the Call: When the Bakuryuu first came to Earth, Sugishita heard their call and almost became AbareBlue. Unfortunately, his body was unable to support the transformation.
  • Team Chef: He's a talented curry chef, and keeps the team going with his "dino curry".

    Mai Hakua

Mai Hakua

Actress: Maya Banno

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mai_hakua_ep3.jpg
She's Ryoga's five-year-old niece. Ryoga's brother and sister-in-law died in a car crash, leaving Mai in Ryoga's care. Mai thinks of Ryoga as a father and always cheers him on when he fights as AbaRed. Starting at the end of ep. 39, Rije's spirit/the mysterious girl chooses Mai to be the only one to see her. In ep. 41, a virus transforms human people into Barmia and Mai was infected as well. The mysterious girl warns the Abaranger that the Barmia are Mai's friends, but Mai was cured when her Dino Guts awoke when she cheered for the Abarangers after seeing Ryoga and the others in danger from the Barmia. After the end of the series, Mai stayed in California with Ryoga.

  • Morality Pet: For Ryoga.
  • Tagalong Kid: On account of being Ryouga's niece, she usually hangs around Sugishita's restaurant, though she stays safely away from battle.

    Trinoid #12: Yatsudenwani

Trinoid #12: Yatsudenwani

Voice actor: Kyousei Tsukui

A Monster of the Week who got abducted by AbareKiller to become his servant. Eventually develops a crush on Ranru. Given his Plucky Comic Relief status, he later moves on with the main cast. By the next crossover, he has taken up the mantle of Dino House CEO.

  • Dream Within a Dream: An apparent Bizarro Episode turned out to be a dream he put the Abarangers into, which led to him being killed by them, only to wake up on the verge of sweating.
  • Eyelash Fluttering: Gives one to Yokota in the series finale.
  • The Glomp: Quite literally, he does it with his jaws, often towards Ranru or when he mistakes someone else for Ranru.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After getting a call from Jeanne about Mikoto, and then found by the Abarangers, not that he was truly evil to begin with.
  • Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain: Is a harmless villain who is reduced to being a servant by a Knight of Cerebus. It takes little for him to switch sides.
  • Hidden Depths: By the time of Dekaranger he's ascended to the CEO position of Dino House and apparently managed to lead the restaurant into becoming the number one restaurant franchise in the world, enough that their HQ got upgraded from the small shack it originally was set in to a full blown large building.
  • Hollywood Tone-Deaf: His singing is so awful, you got to wear earplugs anytime he sings so his voice won't hurt your head.
  • Mundane Utility: The phone on his body can be used to make calls to anywhere, even other dimensions.
  • Never Smile at a Crocodile: Hilariously subverted, he initially appears to be a terrifying Trinoid upon being deployed... Only to immediately get beaten down into a comedic role by Abarekiller and subsequently being reduced to a purely comedic character.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: After his Heel–Face Turn he gets this role in the heroes' side, often being the butt of jokes for everything and providing large amounts of humor for the audience with his antics.
  • Punny Name: Just like every other Trinoid. His name is often translated as Tele-Fasti-Gator (Telephone-Fast(i)-AlliGator)
  • Stalker with a Crush: Towards Ranru. Even after switching sides he continues harboring feelings for her.
  • Token Heroic Orc: The only good-aligned Trinoid by the end of the series.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Sometime before his defection to the heroes' side he decided to take a memento from the Evolians' base: SaunEelGingko's prison gem, which almost let the villainous Gijinfuan Kazakh use it in his scheme to resurrect Dezumozorya.
  • Vile Villain, Laughable Lackey: Mikoto is a Knight of Cerebus. Yatsudenwani is a Harmless Villain who Mikoto keeps around to act as his personal phone.

The Evolians

    In General

The Evolians

A group of evil lifeforms bent on ruling over Earth and Dino Earth.
  • Botanical Abomination: They have a general plant motif for their organization and monsters and they act akin to otherwordly extraterrestrial entities with malevolent desires.
  • Standard Evil Organization Squad: Lije, Mikela, Voffa, Jannu and (briefly) Geilton. Later joined by Abare Killer for a time.

    Dezumozorlya

Wicked Life God Dezumozorlya

Voice actor: Masaharu Sato

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lije_green_eyes_ep3.jpg
Click here to see Dezumozorlya's true form.
Click here to see Dezumozorlya's final form
The Evolien god, a parasitic entity that was held in the meteorite that crashed to Earth. When Earth was split, Dezumozorlya's essence was divided between the two earths, and took one being of each world as its host and transmigrated itself through the host's descendants. It is said that because of its very presence that war and famine broke out and some of its hosts have wreaked havoc throughout the course of human history. In the time of Abaranger, Mikoto held the essence of the inactive Earth-counterpart, and the Dezumozorlya of DinoEarth was originally the Tree of Life until it found a mobile host in Lije through Mahoro.
  • A God Am I: Thoroughly believes itself to be god of all living things.
  • Absolute Xenophobe: Sees all living things as inferior to it.
  • Bad Boss: Cares nothing for its underlings and will consume them into a new host body to suit its needs.
  • Big Bad: It's the true leader of the Evoliens and the one driving their invasion of Earth. It masterminded everything that goes on in the series all to obtain a new body.
  • Demonic Possession: Because it lacks a physical form, Dezumozorlya relies on possessing hosts to interact. It can control anyone who contains a fraction of its essence.
  • Double Standard: Rape, Divine on Mortal: Averted. Dezumozorlya's "conception" of Lije in Makoto is G-rated enough for it to be on a children's TV show, but that doesn't stop it from being played for horror.
  • Eldritch Abomination: A monstrous entity that moves from one body to the next, and if it fused both his halves into a host body it would be the end of the world. Even when dying it still nearly brought about the end of all life on Earth.
  • Genius Loci: In the penultimate episode, it assimilates the Garden Palace to become DezumoGevirus.
  • God of Evil: A parasitic god of genocide and destruction.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Dezumozorlya's definitely one of the most vile and cruel villains in a Sentai series, and the plot gets far more serious when it steps forward. It's also currently the only villain in a Sentai series to technically be a rapist.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Attempts to turn Another Earth into a wasteland through the 200 Days of Darkness.
  • One-Winged Angel: Following the destruction of Dezumovorla and his Another Earth half, he is reduced to a primal state, and as a last resort, transformed the Evolin base into his ultimate form in order to bring about the end of Another Earth.
  • Orcus on His Throne: Spends most of its time dormant inside Lije due to the lack of a body of its own.
  • The Power of Hate: Its speech after possessing Mikela and Voffa has shades of this.
Dezumozorlya: You'll pay for this, Abarangers! My rage! My vengeance! My hatred! Have finally reached their apex! Prepare yourselves, Another Earthlings!!
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: It essentially raped Mahoro so she could give birth to Lije.
  • Sadist: It isn't called the "Wicked Life God" for nothing. It takes a great deal of enjoyment from tormenting lifeforms it views as lower.
  • Taking You with Me: After being mortally wounded by the Burstosaurs' combined assault, it tries to pull them in and take them out when it explodes.
  • Voice of the Legion: Has an ungodly terryfing and menacing voice.

    Lije (Unmarked Spoilers

Apostle of Dawn Lije/Lijewel/Dezumolijewel

Actress: Kasumi Suzuki (Lije), Maki Ogawa (Lijewel)

Lije

Lijewel

She is Dezumozorlya's child-like metatron, responsible for conveying his orders and linking the two worlds to allow the Evolian forces to cross over. She is later force-grown into an adult, Evolien Queen Lijewel, by Dezumozorlya to better contain his power.
  • Affably Evil: When not transmitting Dezumozorlya's words, she generally seems to be the cheerful child she is and is willing to hang out on Earth with her friends or Mikoto without causing trouble.
  • Child by Rape: The method which Dezumozorlya conceived Lije through Mahoro is questionable to say the least. It's ultimately subverted in a way, however, since it's reveled that Mahoro was already pregnant with Lije when Dezumozorlya kidnapped her and that Lije is Asuka's biological daughter with the Wicked Life God simply implanting his essence upon both Mahoro and the unborn Lije.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: As Lijewel she won't tolerate any other woman getting close to Mikoto. When Nakadai brings Mahoro back to the Evolian after she rejoins the group to become Jeanne again, she reiterates that Mikoto is hers to the other woman and after Jeanne regains her power attempts to attack her on the spot out of pure jealously, and is shocked when Mikoto knocks her aside to get her to quit. Even after all that goes down she still sends KillerGhost II after them so it can one-up Jeanne against the Abarangers and impress Mikoto to gain back his attention. She doesn't gets any better about this later on, going as afar as creating a Trinoid solely to get rid of all women on Earth so none can take Mikoto's attention away from her.
  • Creepy Child: When Dezumozorlya possesses her, she speaks with an eerily monotone voice.
  • Dark Magical Girl: She possesses supernatural powers, though her color scheme doesn't convey it, she is on the side of evil.
  • Dead Guy Junior: After Dezumozorlya is purged from her and she ages back down into being a baby, Asuka and Mahoro name her Mikoto after the late AbareKiller
  • Death of Personality: Her personalities of Lije/Lijewel and the Mysterious Girl both cease to exist upon her being purged of Dezumozorlya's influence, once she returns to her real age as a toddler she retains no memories of her prior life.
  • Distaff Counterpart: Of Tran, both child members of an antagonistic group that force-grow into adults during the second half of the series.
  • The Dragon: She acts essentially as Dezumozorlya's prophet and directs his orders to the other Evolians. When Mikoto takes over, her loyalty switches to him instead and stays that way afterwards.
  • Evil-Detecting Baby: As revealed in Dekaranger vs. Abaranger after returning to her true age as a baby, she can sense danger on both Dino and Another Earth, allowing her kisses to send people between both worlds and back again to deal with whatever trouble has arisen like she did as Lije. Though she doesn't have this power in Abaranger 20th, due to it taking place in a different timeline.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Zig-zagged, she's not entirely the product of Dezumozorlya implanting his essence on Mahoro (as Mahoro was pregnant with Asuka's child when the event happened), but she nonetheless inherited part of Dezumozorlya's essence herself, even after the Wicked Life God's death she can use all the powers she got from his event, albeit not always due to her being returned to her true age as a baby.
  • Happily Married: Abaranger 20th reveals that she got married around 2022.
  • The Heavy: She's the reason the Evolians can attack Earth thanks to her dimension crossing powers, and the main one advancing their attacks.
  • Light Is Not Good: Disciple of Dawn? Yeah right.
  • Luke, You Are My Father: Mahoro/Jannu is her mom, Asuka/AbareBlack is her father.
  • No Name Given: Her spirit/good side is never named onscreen; in the credits the character is referred to as the mysterious girl.
  • Overnight Age-Up: Dezumozorlya's presence within her eventually causes her body to age up.
  • Precocious Crush: Had one on Mikoto as Lije, it also probably played a part in her age-up as she desired to get closer to the one she loved.
  • The Reveal: She's Asuka and Mahoro's daughter not Dezumozorlya's as it appears throughout the series.
  • Starfish Character: Her evil side, Lije, and her good side exist as separate entities.

    Jeanne

Destruction Messenger Jeanne / Mahoro

Actress: Eri Sakurai

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jannu_ep2.jpg
Click here to see her wearing the Armor of Darkness

The Evolian Destruction Messenger, who bears a resemblance to Asuka's Love Interest Mahoro. She's really really Mahoro, who was partly brainwashed and deceived by Dezumozorya and made to conceive Lije.

Becomes the third host of the Armor of Darkness after killing Geilton.

  • Action Mom: She's the mother of Lije. This doesn't stop her from kicking ass though.
  • The Atoner: After losing the Armor of Darkness and being snapped out of Dezumozorlya's control she spends all her time trying to save Asuka and atone for her crimes.
  • Black Knight: The Armor of Darkness turns her into one. She's far more effective with it than Geilton.
  • The Brute: The powerhouse of the Evolians, especially after she obtains the Armor of Darkness and leads in the open against the Abarangers.
  • The Chessmaster:
    • To obtain the Armor of Darkness' full power without strain she formulates a joint plan with Voffa to have Giganoid 2: Eroica pretend to be a hero before revealing his true colors to drive the children to despair and gather the negative emotions needed for that purpose, even the Giganoid being destroyed gives Jeanne the negative emotions she wanted, making that scheme a complete victory for her.
    • After she "returns" to being Jeanne, she makes a lot of strategies to undermine the Evolien and save Asuka and Lije from their clutches as well as to thwart Dezumozorlya's revival. First she deliberately gets Mikoto to join her against the Armor of Darkness-corrupted Asuka to defeat and take the Armor from him, while knowing Asuka would seal the armor to avoid anyone ever using it again and ruining Nakadai's plans with him none the wiser to having been tricked; then when Mikela and Voffa start their plan with Giganoid Inextinguishable, she has Yatsudenwani go out in the open to witness Killer's kidnapping and the start of his sacrifice so he can celebrate and then have the Abarangers find him when she calls him at the right time to trigger his ringing noises and then have them get from him the information needed to learn about the resurrection of Dezuzmozorlya and thus stop it.
  • Dark Action Girl: A variation on the usual trope, she's one of the major female members of the Evolien and with the Armor of Darkness she's definitely the muscle of the group, often fighting the Abarangers head-on where even Mikela and Voffa rarely do so.
  • Expy: Of Rie/Maria, due to being a protagonist's love interest who was Forced into Evil by the series Big Bad.
  • Facial Markings: She has the markings of a Dino Human on her face.
  • Heel–Face Turn: She turns back to her original self when Asuka becomes the new wearer of the Armor of Darkness after defeating her one last time and snapping her out of Dezumozorlya's control in the proccess briefly rendering her amnesiac. She appears to turn evil once more to reclaim the Armor from Asuka, but that was actually a plan of hers to save her husband from the Armor itself.
  • More than Mind Control: Dezumozorlya not only brainwashed her to be one of his minions and the bearer of his "child", but also showed her illusions of Asuka cheating on her and starting a new life with another woman so as to make her hate Asuka and think he betrayed her.
  • My God, What Have I Done?:
    • Feels nothing but crushing remorse at her actions and how Asuka ended up corrupted by the Armor of Darkness to save her. She even goes as far as joining with Abarekiller so she can save Asuka from the Armor, even if it means that Abarekiller gets the Armor in his steed.
    • The finale shows she has an equal amount of remorse over executing Geilton, her brother, despite Geilton urging her to do so in the first place as he was dying off already.
  • Parental Neglect: She's Lije's mother, but doesn't care for her or think of her as her child, viewing her as just a vessel for Dezumozorlya. That said, it's only because of Dezumozorlya's brainwashing, when she gets her head on straight again and discovers the truth she immediately starts worrying for her daughter and tries to save her from becoming Dezumozorlya's body.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Almost crossed the line in doing this to Asuka, but they got better. Though to her credit, Dezumozorlya's brainwashing ensured that she would not truly realize the truth about Asuka until she got sense beaten into her, literally.
  • Save the Villain: After making a Heel–Face Turn, she still does everything she can to save Lije despite the latter growing up into an adult form bent on conquering Earth, as she is truly trying to save her own daughter.
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: Asuka and her fits this to a T. They started off as a happy married couple, but got torn apart when she and her brother were captured by the Evolien and brainwashed by Dezumozorlya into believing that Asuka betrayed and abandoned them. They got better temporarily when Asuka snapped Mahoro out of her brainwashing by taking the Armor of Darkness, but after that, they enter a Dating Catwoman scenario since Asuka becomes an idependent villain that attacks both Abarangers and Evolien alike. In the end after Dezumozorlya is defated, things finally get better for good and are allowed to reunite and live happily after.
  • Superior Successor: She is by far and large stronger with the Armor of Darkness than Geilton (who was merely a Starter Villain that was beaten by the inexperienced Abarangers in their first fight) ever was, being able to overwhelm the Abarangers multiple times and even being able to put up a fight against Abarekiller.
  • That Man Is Dead: She's is formerly Asuka's lover Mahoro. She discarded her name and became the Destruction Messenger Jeanne, fixated on killing Asuka for allegedly betraying her and her brother. Of course, she discovers down the line that she was both deceived and brainwashed by Dezumozorlya and that Asuka never would have betrayed her, leaving her utterly remorseful when her actions indirectly lead to Asuka being consumed and possessed by the Armor of Darkness.

    Mikela and Voffa

Creative Messenger Mikela and Visionary Messenger Voffa

Mikela

Voffa
The two most loyal followers of Dezumozorlya, responsible for creating the Trinoids and Giganoids respectively.
  • Asshole Victim: They suffer a lot of things at Killer's hands during his takeover as the Evolian's leader, though they deserve it as they are shameless genocidal maniacs despite their comedic demeanor.
  • Bait the Dog: Throughout the series they appear to genuinely care about Lije beyond her status as Dezumozorlya's host body, even looking and sounding distraught when she seemingly dies from the strain of holding Dezumozorlya in her body (though she was only merely grown into an adult and passed out from the strain of the process before the transformation completed); then in episode 47 when Lijewel begs them to save her from Dezumozorlya they callously dismiss her and happily let Dezumozorlya basically consume everything but her body to arrange his own full resurrection.
  • Co-Dragons: Mikela and Voffa both end up being Dezumozorlya's most loyal followers, while they submit to Lije and later reluctantly to Mikoto/Abarekiller; their true loyalty lies with Dezumozorlya and will choose their God over their other bosses anytime.
  • The Dividual: Besides being seen together most of the time, they were hinted to originally one enity when they were originally amoebic lifeforms.
  • Evil Genius: They're responsible for creating the monsters of the Evoliens. Mikela taking care of the human-sized Trinoids and Voffa of the kaiju-sized Giganoids.
  • Evil Plan: Come up with a lot of this over the series to resurrect Dezumozorlya, but special note goes to Mikela's long-term plan: which was to unleash Dragondoran, the first (actually second after the prototype, Sauneelgingko) Trinoid, into Japan disguised as a charming TV host known as "Master Ran" who would gather humans with his special cards to eventually brainwash them to use as sacrifices and ingredientes for Dezumozorlya's resurrection. If it hadn't been for Abarekiller's turn to good, the Abaranger would've been done for and the plan would've gone off without much problem.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Were originally amoebic lifeforms before evolving from being exposed to Dezumozorlya's essence.
  • Fusion Dance: Dezumozorlya (in Jeanne's body) fuses Mikela and Voffa together to create DezumoVoorla.
  • Laughably Evil: Both are extremely goofy characters. A lot of humor is derived from their attempts at one-upping the other, their unfamiliarity with Another Earth and ocasionally screwing themselves over or having their monsters fail miserably.
  • Meaningful Name: Mikela is named after artist Michaelangelo while Voffa is named after composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
  • Maker of Monsters: They share this role, with Mikela creating Trinoids with drawings that have pigments of an inanimate object, an animal and a plant which he mixes up as a "paint", while Voffa develops Giganoids based on famous symphonies with a macabre piano whose notes form the monster.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: They both come as a pair of goofy generals who create silly monsters of the week and can be sidetracked by things such as "schoolgirls", but on occassion their creations have actually proven very dangerous and their later monsters are so powerful that the Abaranger need their full might to overcome them. The two of them even nearly succeeding in manipulating Mikoto in a scheme to merge both halves of Dezumozorlya with Giganoid 11: Inextinguishable.
  • Too Many Mouths: Mikela has two mouths and noses where his eyes should be.
  • Undying Loyalty: They remained loyal to Dezumozorlya even after he fused them into a vessel to inhabit.

    Geilton

Darkness Messenger Geilton

Actor: Masashi Kagami

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/geildon_unmasked_ep2.jpg
A member of the Evolians who is the brother of Jannu and the wielder of the Armor of Darkness at the start of the series. He is executed for his failures in the second episode and his armor is taken by Jeanne.
  • Black Knight: Initially, as he's wearing the Armor of Darkness, he doesn't lasts long before he's beaten and killed, however.
  • The Brute: A tough fighter who's strength is only amplified by the Armor of Darkness.
  • Fallen Hero: Like his sister, he was once Mizuho, a member of the resistance against the Evolians until he was brainwashed by Dezumozorlya.
  • Mercy Kill: What his execution ultimately turned out to be. Jeanne was hesitant to kill her own brother despite Dezumozorlya's influence and corruption, but when he revealed that the Armor was already killing him off and thus sparing him would only cause him to suffer she complied to cease his pain.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: He only showed up a few times, but he was one of Asuka's friends and his actions paved the way for Jeanne's own and later on led to her redemption indirectly.
  • Starter Villain: He's the villain of just the first two episodes, and the first foe the Abarangers must fight.
  • Tragic Villain: Sure he tried to destroy Earth and wanted to kill Asuka so the Evoliens could rule unopposed but none of those acts were truly done of his own volition, as Dezumozorlya had brainwashed and deceived him to think Asuka had turned against him and his sister, Mahoro, then gave him the Armor of Darkness that went on to slowly kill him due to his improper use of it to the point that he urges Mahoro to Mercy Kill him after his repeated defeats before the Armor gives him a much more horrifying death. By the time of the finale the show depicts him appropriately as a victim of fate that could sadly not be saved.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: He lasts just two episodes, although flashbacks develop him somewhat.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Once saw Asuka as his best friend and someone he approved his sister of dating, but then Dezumozorlya captured him and his sister then deceived and brainwashed him to believe Asuka cheated on his sister after their capture to turn him against his friend and led to his once-care turning into pure hatred that lasted until his death.

    The Armor of Darkness

The Armor of Darkness

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cursed_armor_ep38.jpg
Click here to see the Wicked Life Soldier Armor
A sentient suit of armor which grants its wearer immense power at the cost of amplifying their destructive impulses. It initially belonged to the Dino Humans before being claimed by the Evolians.
  • Animated Armor: It's a suit of armor with a will of its own to a degree though it relies on hosts to act.
  • Back for the Finale: It gets brought back by Dezumozorlya as the Wicked Life Soldier Armor to fight against Asuka. Though Asuka states that it is more of a recreation based on his' and Mahoro's worst fears.
  • Black Knight: Anyone who wears it becomes one.
  • Breakout Villain: The armor has proven to be one of the more iconic Sentai villains of the 2000's and the concept of a sentient evil armor corrupting good users became common for future dinosaur Sentai instalments such as Raging Knight Dogold and Gaisoulg; in addition to having a reincarnation with a new design as "Neo-Geilton" as one of the main antagonists of Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger vs. Go-Busters.
  • The Corruption: Provides power to its wearer at the cost of driving them berserk.
  • Dark Is Evil: A silver, black suit of armor that corrupts its wearer.
  • Expy: As a sentient yet non-sapient force of evil that can possess people or empower them into a raging berserker dark warrior it resembles greatly Duke Org Rouki/The Thousand Year Evil. To booth, both their heroic victims' Dark and Troubled Past is driven primarily by how these evil entities corrupted them and turned them against their friends.
  • Final Boss: One of two. The Wicked Life Soldier Armor fights Ranru and Asuka at the same time Dezumogevirus battles Ryouga and Yukito.
  • You Kill It, You Bought It: The only way to take the Armor from a previous host is by dealing a deadly finishing blow to them or defeating them in battle enough to fully leave them unconscious. Jeanne gets it by giving a Mercy Kill to a dying Geilton, Asuka obtains it by defeating and knocking Jeanne/Mahoro unconscious (though avoids either of them dying by taking her off the exploding Anomalogaris), then Mikoto gets it for a few seconds after he and Jeanne deliver a deadly strike against the Armor-corrupted Asuka that knocks him out of the Armor and leaves it open for him to take, it's only thanks to Mahoro's and Asuka's secret efforts that he fails to fully claim it.

    Barmia Soldiers

Barmia Soldiers

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/barmia_soldiers_ep3.jpg
The Evolian's amoeba-themed footsoldiers, coming in black and white variants.
  • Mooks: The Evolian grunts.

    The Other Half (Spoiler Character

Dezumozorlya's Another Earth half

Dezumozorlya's long-lost Another Earth half, split off from him when the asteroid impacted Earth and divided the planet into two worlds 65 million years ago, it hosted itself inside Mikoto Nakadai and when the Evolien find this out they race to extract this half for the resurrection of Dezumozorlya
  • Deader than Dead: Not only does Mikoto basically purges it from his body, but also exposes it to a lot of Dino Guts that he got from the Abaranger, killing it completely.
  • Good Hurts Evil: Like his other half Dino Guts harm him despite their usually positive effects on living beings, he wounds up outright completely killed by them.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Hinted to have influence moments of history in its previous human hosts.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Kept the Dino Minder at bay, saving Mikoto's life inadvertedly multiple times; it wasn't for any altruistic reasons, he was simply trying to preserve his own life.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Spends its last moments vainly screaming for his other half's help and being fully horrified about his incoming death while letting out a final scream as he gets wiped from existence.
  • Walking Spoiler: Everything about it is a massive spoiler, as its existence explains a lot about Nakadai/Abarekiller's life and it becomes the Evolien's top priority to bring about Dezumozorlya's full resurrection.

Trinoids

    In General
Three-way hybrids of an animal, a plant and an inanimate object pigments painted and given life to by Mikela with the Evolien's evil fruits: the Life Berries, to assist in the Evolian's conquest of Earth. They start out small but when defeated grow giant on their own with the help of Life Berries.
  • Art Initiates Life: Start out as paintings of Mikela that come to life upon being finished and being given a Life Berry.
  • Make My Monster Grow: Unlike past monsters they don't need their masters to do anything to grow giant, the Life Berry inside of their bodies will automatically activate and unleash a poisonous rain that brings them back to life in a giant and stronger form.
  • Sorting Algorithm of Evil: Zigzagged. The Trinoids aren't entirely organized numerically according to their strength and thus the fourth Trinoid is weaker than the first three and number zero in addition to others with higher numbers.
  • Superpower Lottery: Often come with multiple attacks and techniques as opposed to having a single gimmick like most Sentai monsters.
  • You Are Number 6: Their full name includes the number given to them by Mikela.

    Trinoid #4: Bakudandelion

Trinoid #4: Bakudandelion

The first Trinoid seen onscreen and first to fight the Abarangers. It is a Bakudan (Bomb)/Dandelion/Lion hybrid sent to defeat the Abaranger with his heat-seeking missiles.
  • Back from the Dead: Alongside Hakkarasniper and Jishakunagengorou he is brought back in episode 13 to try and defeat the time-displaced Abarangers but is defeated and killed again.
  • Foreshadowing: Him being Trinoid #4 serves to foreshadow that other three Trinoids were created before him and were already active before he was deployed. We meet these other Trinoids later down the line and learn they all were going incognito disguised as humans for months.
  • Four Is Death: Being the fourth Trinoid created and the first one to be killed off.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Beaten by Ranru using a special machine to turn his own missiles against him, letting the Abaranger get past his barrages and destroy him with the Dino Bomber.
  • Panthera Awesome: A lion-themed monster with powerful explosives, though he is only the first Trinoid of many and the weakest of the bunch.
  • Starter Villain: Geilton was the first foe the Abarangers face, but Bakudandelion is their first Trinoid opponent.
  • Vine Tentacles: Could generate vines from his body to entangle people with. In his giant form he uses them to ensnare AbarenOh in their fight.

    Trinoid #5: Hakkarasniper

Trinoid #5: Hakkarasniper

A Hakka (Mint)/Karasu (Crow)/Sniper Rifle hybrid sent to use its powerful shots to infect people with a deadly virus that would mutate them into Wicked Lifeforms.
  • Back from the Dead: Alongside Bakudandelion and Jishakunagengorou he is brought back in episode 13 to try and defeat the time-displaced Abarangers but is defeated and killed again.
  • Creepy Crows: Part-crow and an evil monster bent on mutating all humans into Wicked Lifeforms to let the Evolians take over.
  • Electronic Eyes: One of its eyes is a sniper rifle's lens that lets him aim his shots much more accurately.
  • It's Personal: After Ranru as AbareYellow injures him, he adds killing her to his personal list of goals and nearly succeeds at taking her down with him when he's struck down for good.
  • Not Quite Flight: Despite being part-crow he doesn't actually flies. Instead he uses electromagnetism to move great distances.
  • The Plague: Sent to unleash one to turn all of humanity into monsters.
  • Sniper Rifle: Being made from a sniper rifle himself, he wields it as his main weapon for his plans.
  • Taking You with Me: Shoots Ranru with his last bullet as he perishes in the explosion caused by AbarenOh's Electric Drill Spin which seems to kill her. Though she survived by having a bulletproof vest underneath her shirt all along as part of a leftover item from her military training enthusiasm.

    Trinoid #6: Zakurobacuum

Trinoid #6: Zakurobacuum

A Zakuro (Pomegranate)/Roba (Donkey)/Vacuum hybrid sent to steal the powers of the Abarangers to resurrect Dezumozorlya but later on instead steals the youth of beautiful women instead.
  • Dung Fu: After eating pomegranates and improving his digestion, he gains the ability to use explosive poop projectiles to fight opponents with.
  • Life Drinker: An evolved form of his energy-absorption ability lets him absorb the youth of people, especially young beautiful women.
  • Mana Drain: His main ability is to absorb energy for later usages.
  • Potty Emergency: Absorbing too much energy gave him a stomachache and, once he could no longer resist it, was advised by Mikela to eat his own pomegranates to improve his digestion. This results in him gaining a new ability.
  • Toilet Humor: Befitting a monster that is part-donkey, he runs on this humor to the point that after his defeat one large slag of poop falls on top of Mikaela and Voffa.
  • Took a Level in Badass: He can initially only threaten the Abaranger in regular ways but after absorbing enough youth and eating pomegranates to help his digestion, he starts using his own poop as explosive projectiles fired from his nose.

    Trinoid #7: Jishakunagengorou

Trinoid #7: Jishakunagengorou

A Jishaku (Magnet)/Shakunage (Rhodondedron)/Gengorou (Diving Beetle) monster sent to place stickers with the letters "S" (South) and "N" (North) to employ magnetism poles to send people flying around the world so the Evolian could move in and take over.
  • Achilles' Heel: His magnet stickers can be removed under sufficient heat.
  • Back from the Dead: Alongside Bakudandelion and Hakkarasniper he is brought back in episode 13 to try and defeat the time-displaced Abarangers but is defeated and killed again.
  • Sand Is Water: He essentially "swims" when he digs underground to attack.

    Trinoid #8: Kinmokuseikamikakushi

Trinoid #8: Kinmokuseikamikakushi

A Kinmokusei (Yellow Osmanthus)/Ika (Squid)/Kamikakushi (Spiriting) monster who uses a special cape to become invisible and has the ability to send anyone who smell his flower to another dimension.
  • Pocket Dimension: Can control an alternate dimension where it can send people to if they smell his flowers.
  • The Worf Effect: The first monster to be defeated by AbarenOh Nagurusu (the combination of AbarenOh and Bachycelo) after overwhelming AbarenOh.

    Trinoid #9: Bankumushroom

Trinoid #9: Bankumushroom

A Bank/Kuma (Bear)/Mushroom monster sent to make people greedy and ambitious. Can induce greed in people and give them a nasty mushroom bob haircut!
  • Bears Are Bad News: Part-bear and a pretty strong foe when he gets going, capable of overwhelming all four Abarangers at once!
  • Beware the Silly Ones: One of the silliest Trinoids, being part mushroom, having an evil plan that amounts to giving people bad haircuts that makes them greedy and attacks that involve objects such as maneki nekos and coin piles, yet when he gets going he can easily overwhelm all four Abaranger at once with brute force alone and had they not tapped into their inner power with Abare Mode they would've lost.
  • Our Monsters Are Weird: It's a bear/mushroom/bank hybrid that gives bad haircuts to people to make them greedy and can attack with money banks, maneki nekos and coins. Yeah.
  • The Worf Effect: After proving a troublesome foe in both small and giant form with his bag of tricks and brute force, AbarenOh Nagurusu makes short work of him.

    Trinoid #3: Tensaichic

Trinoid #3: Tensaichic

A Tensai (Sugar Beet, or the homonym spelling of "Genius")/Sai (Rhino)/Psychic monster who was deployed at the start of the Evolian invasion and was sent to set up a psychic school for the intelligently gifted, so as to control the students that would enter for the Evolians' goals with special mind-control carrots.
  • Aliens Among Us: Disguised himself as a human since his deployment to create his Psychic school and go undetected.
  • Back from the Dead: Resurrected as part of the Evoranger in Episode 30 but is easily defeated and killed along with Tensaichic and Sharkurumarguerite by AbareKiller's Abare Mode before he could do anything.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Those who eat his vegetables will fall under his control and he can use the vast amounts of people he's brainwashed as his backup army. Emiri only avoids this fate due to her slow digesting system preventing the vegetable's effects from affecting her before she could help thwart his plans.
  • One-Way Visor: Wears one in both his human and Trinoid form befitting his general theme of intellect and psychic powers.
  • Rhino Rampage: Though he employs his psychic powers more than his other abilities, Tensaichic still counts whenever he does fight and especially after growing giant.
  • Smug Snake: Acts very overconfident on his intelligence and abilities, this leads to him going down quickly in giant form when the Abarangers recover from his opening attack.

    Trinoid #10: Sharkurumarguerite

Trinoid #10: Sharkurumarguerite

A Shark/Kuruma (Car)/Marguerite monster sent to infect people with a mysterious disease and to trap the Abarangers with illusions of things they hate. Mikaela later empowers it so as to flood all of Tokyo with its powers.
  • Back from the Dead: Returns as SharkRed in episode 30 as part of the Evoranger but is easily defeated and killed along with Tensaichic and Ayameganezumi by AbareKiller's Abare Mode before he could do anything.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: His colossal tidal wave ends up helping AbarenOh Slidon defeat him.
  • Making a Splash: Can manipulate water when powered up, to the point of nearly causing a tsunami to sink Tokyo with.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Its Tsunami attack is one of the most destructive abilities that Trinoids have shown. It took the Abaranger getting a new combination to defeat him and stop the tidal wave.
  • The Worf Effect: His emporwement made him incredibly formidable and nearly let him win, but thanks to Stegoslidon and later his combination with AbarenOh: AbarenOh Slidon he was ultimately defeated in the end when they employed his own tidal wave as a boost for their finisher.

    Trinoid #11: Ayameganezumi

Trinoid #11: Ayameganezumi

An Ayame (Iris)/Megane (Glasses)/ Nezumi (Rat) monster sent to plant Irises on people's heads to eventually detonate a volcano to cause ruin in Tokyo.
  • Back from the Dead: Returns as AyamegaBlue in episode 30 as part of the Evoranger but is easily defeated and killed along with Tensaichic and Sharkurumarguerite by AbareKiller's Abare Mode before he could do anything.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Utterly silly in appearance, execution of his plan and his mannerisms but still a formidable foe that required AbareBlack Abare Mode to step in to defeat him.
  • The Worf Effect:
    • Throughouly trounced the Abarangers on the ground and even AbareBlack was losing his battle until he got his Abare Mode.
    • Still as strong in giant form thus requiring Stegoslidon to once again combine with AbarenOh to defeat him.
  • You Dirty Rat!: Part rat and an evil Trinoid bent on detonating a volcano.

    Trinoid #12: Yatsudenwani

Trinoid #12: Yatsudenwani

A Nihon no Yatsude (Japanese Fatsia)/Denwa (Telephone)/Wani (Crocodile) monster deployed by Mikela for an attack, he wound up beaten and turned into AbareKiller's man-servant after seemingly being killed. He ends up being the only surviving Trinoid as of the series finale.
See his character tropes in the "Allies" section above.

Trinoid #13: Mukadenpansy

A Mukade (Centipede)/Denpa (Radio Waves)/Pansy monster requested by AbareKiller as part of a game sent to make children disobedient rowdy and cruel by giving them telekinetic powers through a special idol song broadcast through a television broadcast after he made a deal with the producers.
  • Actually a Doombot: The first time he's seemingly beaten it turns out that "Mukadenpansy" was just a Zolru in disguise. The real deal was hidden inside of a studio camera.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Attempts to capture KillerOh and AbarenOh by sneaking up on their fight after a delayed resurrection to catch them off-guard, unfortunately for him it fails.
  • Deal with the Devil: Makes one with the producers of the G13 Princess song, giving them world-record breaking ratings in exchange for protection from the Abaranger and allowing his plan to go on.

    Trinoid #14: Haematsu

Trinoid #14: Haematsu

A Hae (Fly)/Ema (Votive picture)/Matsu (Pine Tree) monster sent to grant the wishes of humans in destructive ways.

    Trinoid #15: Tsuribakatsuolive

    Trinoid #17: Shohousenkameleon

Trinoid #17: Shohousenkameleon

A Shohou (Prescription)/Hosenka (Impatiens)/Chameleon monster sent to kidnap brides on Another Earth and inject a Wicked Life seed into them so they would give birth to new Wicked Lifeforms and potential new host bodies for Dezumozorlya.

    Trinoid #18: Rakkopiman

Trinoid #18: Rakkopiman

A Rakko(otter)/Copy Machine/Piiman (Japanese green bell pepper) monster sent to bring back Lije to Dino Earth when she went on a "date" with Mikoto Nakadai/AbareKiller. His special ability is to copy any weapons he sees, creating an equally powerful duplicate.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He's essentially an otter with a pepper for a face and whose role amounts to a glorified chaperone, yet proved to be one of the strongest, smartest and deadliest Trinoids.
  • Effective Knockoff: His copied weapons are as strong as the real deals.
  • Elite Mook: Another of the fiercest Trinoids, whooping the Abaranger with ease and even being able to overwhelm AbareKiller until the latter showcased his Abare Mode. Pretty impressive for a guy sent to simply retrieve Lije and keep the Abaranger away.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Averted. The Abaranger formulated a plan to defeat him by having him copy their Dino Bomber with the barrel closed so the finisher would explode on his face when he tried to fire it, while letting them fire their own finisher afterwards. He thwarted their efforts by opening the exhaust before he actually shot it.
  • The Worf Effect: After thoroughly trouncing all five Abarangers, AbareKiller made short work of him in small form when he debuted his Abare Mode.

    Evoranger

Renaissance Trinoid Jamei Sentai EvorangerMembers

Deliberate copies of the Abaranger made by Mikela in a bid to create the ultimate foes. They are quickly defeated and killed by Abarekiller before they can even get deployed.
  • Bait-and-Switch Credits: They appear at first to do a Evolian version of the series' opening theme, but Killer interrupts them before it can go beyond the first 30 seconds.
  • Evil Knockoff: Overall to the Abaranger, they even each get a specific codename and parody the theme song and role call.
    • Sharkurumarguerite now christened Shark Red.
    • Ayameganezumi now christened Ayame Blue.
    • Tensaichic now christened Tensai Yellow.
  • The Unfought: The only foes the heroic Abaranger never faced in any way as Killer took them out while he was still a villain and solely to take over.
  • The Worf Barrage: Nothing they do even fazes Killer, even their own attempt at a version of the Dino Guts ("Evori Guts") and Dino Bomber ("Evori Bomber") doesn't even the odds before Killer dispatches them.

    Trinoid #2: Hirurindou

Trinoid #2: Hirurindou

Actor: Masaaki Satake (human form and voice)

A Hiru (Leech)/Ruri (Lapis Lazuli)/Rindou (Gentian) monster and the second Trinoid sent to Earth, undercover while disguised as martial artist "Satake Arimasa", he uses his special leeches to absorb the abilities and powers of athletes and warriors to gain said skills. After being tipped off to the Abarangers closing in on his plans, he joins forces with AbareKiller to defeat them.
  • Aliens Among Us: Like Tensaichic he was deployed at the start of the invasion and went undercover as a human to execute his plans. Though he went with a martial artist guise to cover his tracks.
  • All Your Powers Combined: Employs the abilities of athletes and others he drained of their power in quick succession to defeat foes with.
  • Informed Attribute: Is said to be made partly from a Lapis Lazuli pigment, yet his gemstones are actually rubies according to him.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Is portrayed by ex-martial artist, Masaaki Satake, while named the near-anagram of "Sataka Arimasa" in human form, clearly meant to evoke his actor's role.
  • Power Parasite: His leeches can steal a person's talent and/or powers, such as various athletes' skills and the Abarangers' Abare Mode powers, then turn into lapiz lazuli/ruby crystals that he swallows to fully take in the power he stole.
  • The Worf Effect: Hirurindou was fairly formidable but he was first struck down by a fully enraged Abare Mode Blue and Yellow, then when he overwhelmed AbarenOh in giant form he was defeated in turn by the first formation of MaxOhJa.

    Trinoid #19: Hagetakaraichi

Trinoid #19: Hagetakaraichi

A Hagetaka (Vulture)/Takara (Treasure)/Lychee monster sent to obtain the Devil's Stone, a piece of the meteorite that divided Another and Dino Earth for the Evolian's goals. Along the way he steals Asuka's and Mahoro's wedding bracelet, causing Ranru and the other Abarangers to chase him to get it back.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Ranru uses disguises with sex appeal to seduce him so she could get from him Asuka and Mahoro's matrimony bracelet.
  • Near-Villain Victory: If Lije hadn't been in a deep sleep at the time he obtained the Devil's Stone and thus unable to bring him back to the Evolian's hideout, he would've been recalled before the Abarangers could stop him and ensured the Evolian's victory.
  • Vile Vulture: Part-vulture and an evil Trinoid who sought to help Dezumozorlya.
  • The Worf Effect: Was mopping the floor with the Abarangers with ease but was brought down by Asuka in the Armor of Darkness before falling to Styracosaurus as a giant.

    Trinoid #20: Rougirafleshia

Trinoid #20: Rougirafleshia

A Rouge (Lipstick)/Giraffe/Rafflesia monster deployed by Lijewel to turn all human women into rafflesia flowers to both drive humanity to extinction and to avoid any other women stealing Mikoto's attention from her.
  • Forced Transformation: Uses her lipstick marks to turn women into raffleshia flowers, she nearly does this to Ranru and does transform Emiri into one, then she gets upgraded so her powers now manifest as fireworks that cover Japan and beyond to transform every woman in the planet into flowers.
  • Elite Mook: A fairly formidable monster that took on the Abarangers with ease until they invoke their Abare Mode. In the rematch it took AbareMax to finally defeat her.

    Trinoid #21: Reindeiasanta

Trinoid #21: Reindeiasanta

A Reindeer/Asa (Hemp)/Santa Claus Trinoid, sent to transform people into Barmia soldiers with his special cursed gifts.
  • Aliens Among Us: Disguised himself as a fake Santa Claus to give out his "gifts".
  • Bad Santa: Gives people gifts that contain Barmia staffs that brainwash and convert them to Barmia themselves.
  • Forced Transformation: His gifts brainwashed and transformed people into Barmia soldiers. With the intention of creating more forces for the Evolian and putting the Abarangers in an unwinnable situation of either killing humans forcefully mutated or get killed in turn by opponents they won't fight back against.
  • Near-Villain Victory:
    • His plan worked like a charm at first, corrupting dozens of humans into Barmia Soldiers and having the Abarangers damn near killed by being mobbed by opponents they couldn't destroy without killing the humans that once were there. It took other people encouraging their transformed friends and loved ones to fight against the corruption for his plan to fail and him to be defeated.
    • In giant form he also almost gets away with trapping MaxOhJa inside of a santa sack until Asuka destroyed it to free the mecha.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Only one of many Trinoids, but it is his gifts that allow Mikela and Vofffa to discover that Mikoto hosts Dezumozorlya's other half.

    Trinoid #22: Nanakusarumba

Trinoid #22: Nanakusarumba

A Nanakusa (Seven Spring Herbs)/Saru (Monkey)/Rumba Trinoid and the last one to be created, he was made to celebrate the upcoming revival of Dezumozorlya for New Year. He uses his special rumba beams to turn people into assorted New Year's items.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Hilarious and cute to a degree he might be, he still came close to defeating the Abarangers through his transformation powers and transformed all but one of them (Yukito) into inanimate objects.
  • Death Equals Redemption: Implied. After Mai recounts how Nanakusarumba's actions indirectly made everyone better at activities related to the items they were transformed into and thanks him for it, his spirit can be seen ascending into heaven, implying his unintended good actions redeemed his soul unlike other deceased Trinoids'.
  • Our Monsters Are Weird: A monkey/rumba/seven springs herbs monster that was meant to be a celebratory one-man show, can transform people into assorted New Year's objects with a special rumba melody and has spring herb attacks. One of the wackiest Trinoids for sure.

    Trinoid #23: Alohaibiscuskunk

Trinoid #23: Alohaibiscuskunk

A Trinoid made of Aloha/Hibiscus/Skunk, it appears exclusively in the special drama CD Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger: Dino Guts CD.
  • Hawaiian-Shirted Tourist: Its design showcased in the cover of the CD evokes this with it wearing a shirt.
  • Uniformity Exception: Unlike other Trinoids, it's name consists entirely of English words with not a single japanese word in it. It is also the only Trinoid to wear some kind of clothing in its normal form.

    Trinoid #1: Dragondoran

Trinoid #1:Dragondoran/Ran Izumo/"Master Ran"

Actor: Masashi Taniguchi

A Dragon/Gondola/Ran (Orchid) monster, the first Trinoid made (after the prototype Saunaginnan) and the very first to be deployed on Earth. He assumed the human idenity of "Master Ran" and awaited nearly a whole year to execute his master plan to bring about Dezumozorlya's advent by giving the people of Japan cards to grant their wishes which were to brainwash and turn them into prime material to create a new body for Dezumozorlya.
  • Aliens Among Us: Like Tensaichic and Hirurindou he was deployed at the start of the Evolian invasion and took on a human form to execute his plans. He went disguised as a fortune-teller/cult-leader, however.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: His cards brainwashed those who got them when the time for his plan's advent came.
  • Elite Mook: The most powerful Trinoid seen, easily capable of taking on the five Abarangers at once.
  • For Happiness: In his human guise he claims to be seeking "happiness" and a perfect future. Of course he means a perfect future and happiness for Dezumozorlya.
  • The Juggernaut: Takes on all five Abarangers each without much issue, he even overwhelms and has AbareKiller dead-to-rights before Lijewel gives him the chance to get a Heroic Second Wind. It took the Superior Dino Bomber to destroy him in small form. In giant form he's just as formidable, overwhelming all three main Abaranger mecha and requiring them joining all their power in one super attack to defeat him for good.
  • Meaningful Name: His human guise is named "Izumo Ran" which means in Japanese "Clouds Appearing Orchid", fitting as his plan creates a large amount of cloud-like mists and he's part-orchid.
  • Near-Villain Victory: He had beaten the Abarangers (Killer included), the body he created for Dezumozorlya was nearly completed and would've won for sure if Lijewel hadn't acted to save Mikoto and give him the chance to get his second wind.
  • Our Dragons Are Different A humanoid Western-style dragon who is also crossed with a gondola and an orchid.

    Trinoid #0: Saunaginnan

Trinoid #0:

A Sauna/Unagi(Eel)/Ginnan (Ginko) hybrid that was first Trinoid and was sealed away within a red orb because of his great power before being freed by Kazakku during the events of Dekaranger vs. Abaranger for a scheme to bring back Dezumozorlya.
  • Necromancer: He possess the ability to ressurect the dead.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: He accidently revives Abare Killer and Top Galer.
  • Super Prototype: Saunaginnan was meant to be the first Trinoid but his power exceeded Mikaela's expectations and was sealed inside a jewel by his creator out of fear. He later was forgotten but eventually found by Yatsudenwani who brought him to Dino Curry's HQ as an office decoration.

    Trinoid #24: Abarengekko

Trinoid #24: Abarengekko

An Abaranger/Renge (Astragalus Sinicus)/Gecko hybrid serving as the villain of Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger 20th: The Unforgivable Abare, he is the original Evolians' backup plan in case they were destroyed with plans to terraform the planet into a desert wasteland fit for the Neo Evolians.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Just as goofy as most of the Trinoids but still proved himself a tough foe with a legitimately dangerous plan to turn Earth into a desertic wasteland.
  • Big Bad: The main antagonist of Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger 20th: The Unforgivable Abare.
  • Evil Counterpart: Of the Abarangers in appearance and being able to use the Dino Bomber.
  • Evil Knockoff: He's imbued with the copied essence of the five Abarangers.
  • Necromancer: Resurrects Mikoto/AbareKiller at his most evil to help out his plans.
  • Power Copying: Like Rakkopiman before him he can copy the Abarangers' powers, primarily the Dino Bomber which he uses against Ryoga and Yukito in their first battle.
  • The Remnant: Every other Evolian member has died or defected, leaving him as the only one left.
  • Reptiles Are Abhorrent: Despite his silliness, Abarengekko is still a monster with plans to commit planetary genocide so Earth can be taken over by Neo Evolians.

Giganoids

    In General
The other tribe of Wicked Lifeforms, they're giants made by Voffa based on both famous compositions of Earth's musicians and assorted objects that catch his eye.
  • Make My Monster Grow: Averted. Unlike the Trinoids, they always start off giant. The closest one came to playing the trope straight was when Voffa transformed Emiri into his sixth Giganoid, Titan, by turning her giant, but he backed out of it when she threatened to eat him.
  • Musical Theme Naming: Each Giganoid is named after a work of classical music.
  • Sorting Algorithm of Evil: Unlike the Trinoids, no Giganoids were pre-made before the first direct deployment and thus their numerical strength is relative to their power overall.
  • The Speechless: Other than Eroica, none of them are capable of speech and even the more intelligent ones just roar or grunt.

    Giganoid #1: Fate

Giganoid #1: Fate

A gambling-themed monster who uses teleporting powers with its dice rolls to cause mayhem. The first Giganoid created and to be fought. It gets brought back in episode 8 to be killed by Ygrec/Eroica as part of the Evolians' plan.
  • Achilles' Heel: It despises clock music and it can be easily distracted by trying to find its source and destroy it. Yukito exploits this to overcome the Giganoid when it initially overwhelms them.
  • An Ice Person: Can breathe an icy vapor to attack.
  • Combat Pragmatism: It doesn't even let the Abaranger use their Bakuryuu at first, crippling Brachio by wounding his neck as he prepares to deploy them, during its battle it doesn't bothers playing fair and uses its teleporting abilities to keep out of AbarenOh's sights and range, such as sending them both to the north pole so it can reduce AbarenOh's power by exposing the robot to cold temperatures.
  • Confusion Fu: Employs its various abilities to move around in confusing partners to get its way.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: The Abarangers rewrite its attempted escape dice roll so it teleports right in front of their finisher to kill it.
  • Musical Theme Naming: Named after Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Tries to teleport away when it is overwhelmed by AbarenOh, the Abarangers ensure to thwart its escape by rewriting its dice to teleport it in front of their finishing Electric Drill Spin.
  • Weaponized Teleportation: Uses its dice rolls to teleport objects and itself as its attacks outside of the usual physical strikes and ranged techniques.
  • The Worf Effect: Comes back in episode 8 to be quickly dispatched by Eroica as part of Voffa's plans.

    Giganoid #2: Eroica

Giganoid #2: Eroica/Ygrec the Galaxian

The second Giganoid, posing as famous TV Superhero, Ygrec the Galaxian, he gathers children that admire the hero in order to torment them by pretending to be good then showing his true evil intentions in a bid to help Jeanne improve her use of the Armor of Darkness.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Acts at first as a benevolent hero of justice, but is truly just manipulating and stringing along the children of Japan to manipulate their feelings and drive them to despair to further Jeanne's plans.
  • Blade Below the Shoulder: When not employing the Twin Galaxy he can use his arm's blades to attack opponents.
  • Corrupted Character Copy: An example both In-Universe and outside of it; Ygrec, who he's meant to mimic, is a clear in-universe show Expy of the Ultramen; while Eroica is an evil copy of the fictional hero.
  • Double Weapon: One of the weapons he took from Ygrec's portrayal was his Twin Galaxy, a double-bladed staff-like weapon that he can use to finish off opponents.
  • Engineered Heroics: Voffa unleashes a clone of Fate for Eroica to destroy as part of his cover, he even has Eroica struggle in battle to further sell the illusion.
  • The Worf Effect: Easily defeated both a clone of Fate and AbarenOh only to fall to AbareBlack's fully powered Fire Inferno after Asuka regains his fighting spirit and courage.
  • Xanatos Gambit: If he had defeated and killed the Abaranger? The Evolian would have fully won. He didn't and got destroyed but it didn't really matter, since his main purpose was to drive the children to despair by both revealing his true nature after posing as a hero and then being destroyed by Asuka and ends up getting the negative emotions it was sent to obtain for Jeanne's plans.

    Giganoid #3: Clock

Giganoid #3: Clock

A clock and building themed Giganoid deployed to devour buildings and send the Abarangers back in time to the Feudal Era so the Evolian could conquer Earth unopposed. Serves as the main threat of episodes 12 and 13.
  • Arc Villain: For episodes 12 and 13, as the Evolian are too busy trying to avoid disappearing from existence while Clock does the heavy lifting on their orders.
  • Story-Breaker Power: Its time-control cannot be stopped and can be used without any problem. The only reason the Abaranger were able to continue fighting it after it sent them back was because the side-effects of the time travel nearly caused the Evolian to disappear from existence, forcing them to recall the heroes to the present.
  • Time Master: Can send people to any time period it desires.
  • The Worf Effect: It's a fairly powerful Giganoid but ultimately went down to AbarenOh Nakodon's first (and only) formation.

    Giganoid #4: Resurrection

Giganoid #4: Resurrection

The fossils of a dinosaur known as Abaresaurus that was in the process of evolving into a Bakuryuu, and were discovered by an old friend of Suke-san, Mr. Denjiro; Voffa intends for it to develop into the Evolian answer to the heroic Bakuryuu.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: It was fairly powerful and overwhelmed AbarenOh and its weaker formation, AbarenOhji but it had a weakpoint near its neck, which AbarenOh took advantage of, once it stopped fighting when Mr. Denjiro's pleas for it to stop reached it, to finally defeat it.
  • Dem Bones: A monster made out of fossils empowered by Voffa's melody of evil.
  • Healing Factor: Any injury it sustained it regenerated without issue.
  • Tragic Monster: It ultimately is little more than a victim of the Evolians' schemes and it wasn't really pure evil either as it was able to hear and listen to Mr. Denjiro's pleas for it to stop fighting. Even the Bakuryuu were hesitant to fight a would-be ally/fellow dinosaur until it became clear it was turned into an evil monster.
  • Undead Fossils: A skeletical giant monster made form the fossilized bones of a dinosaur that almost evolved into a Bakuryuu.
  • Willfully Weak: It ultimately was only defeated because it stopped fighting altogether due to Denjiro begging it to stop allowing AbarenOh to destroy it in its inert state.

    Giganoid #5: The Hunt

Giganoid #5: The Hunt

A Giganoid sent to cause mayhem with its nigh-endless weapons arsenal. After being destroyed by AbarenOh Rokkirusu it was resurrected in a stronger form christened La Chasse Chapter 2, much more powerful than before.
  • Came Back Strong: Voffa had a mechanism in it activate to re-assemble its scattered chopped pieces into a new, stronger form.
  • The Juggernaut: In its second form it took on virtually all the auxiliar Bakuryuu, AbareYellow and AbareBlack, sans TopGaler (who was away with Mikoto) and Stegoslidon (who left the heroes' side to join Killer and become stronger). It took the massively powerful KillerOh to bring it down for good.
  • Naked People Are Funny: For a split second after AbarenOh Rokkirusu cuts off all its body parts, The Hunt's humanoid inside body covers its crotch area before exploding.
  • The Worf Effect:
    • After gaining the upper hand against AbarenOh it is quickly sliced to pieces by the newly formed AbarenOh Rokkirusu.
    • In its second stronger form it falls victim to the newly-formed KillerOh's Death Combustion to establish AbareKiller's power.

    Giganoid #6: Titan

Giganoid #6: Titan

When Voffa gained an interest in schoolgirls he eventually chose Emiri to be his new Giganoid, using his melody to transform her into a giantess, too bad for him she was too pissed about the transformation to care about obeying him, forcing him to abort the plan.
See her character tropes in the "Allies" section above

    Giganoid #7: New World

Giganoid #7: New World

Voffa's proper next Giganoid, created from a globe of Earth and assorted items he collected.

    Giganoid #8: Jupiter

Giganoid #8: Jupiter

A Giganoid commissioned by AbareKiller to up the stakes of his games. By merging with an astronomical center it gains the power to manipulate Jupiter into colliding with Earth, threatening to end all life.
  • The Assimilator: Assimilates an astronomical center to execute its plans.
  • Colony Drop: Its main power, using its Jupiter-styled planetoid core, it planned on "calling its bigger brother" to collide with Earth and destroy the planet in one fell swoop.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Unlike most of the Giganoids and Trinoids, this one is dead-serious and a planetary threat that is treated with utmost seriousness and brings about a rather dark episode with it almost wiping out all life on Earth.

    Giganoid #9: Miracle

Giganoid #9: Miracle

An illusion-generating Giganoid made by Voffa to grow stronger over time while hidden in plain sight as a luxury cruiser.

    Giganoid #10: Tragic

Giganoid #10: Tragic

A Giganoid made to help Lijewel in a plan to sever the bonds between parents and their children.
  • Sizeshifter: Unlike most Giganoids it can change its size according to its needs, going from human to colossus-sized.
  • The Worf Effect: Overwhelmed MaxOhJa but was ultimately struck down by its stronger form, MaxRyuuOh.

    Giganoid #11: Inextinguishable

Giganoid #11: Inextinguishable/Killer Giganoid

Voffa's magnum opus: A Giganoid designed after KillerOh and given to AbareKiller after his partners abandon his side. It has battle data of all known-then Bakuryuu combinations and is designed to counter them. However, it's true purpose is even more sinister.
  • The Worf Effect: It could counter any pre-existing Bakuryuu combinations, thus the Abaranger had to form a new unseen-to-the point combination from the three core Bakuryuu, Stegoslidon, TopGaler, Styracosaurus and with Brachio's assistance dubbed OOAbarenOh, the strongest form of AbarenOh, to finally defeat it.

Other Wicked Lifeforms

    Anomalogaris

Fortress Lifeform Anomalogaris

The Evolian mothership deployed at the start of the series to invade Another Earth. It pursues Asuka to take from him the dormant Bakuryuu and is the first giant opponent faced by AbarenOh.
  • Living Ship: A mothership with a life of its own, albeit controlled by Geilton.
  • No Body Left Behind: Unlike the other lifeforms, there isn't anything left of the Anomalogaris after its defeat as it bursts into sparkles.
  • Starter Villain: The first giant foe AbarenOh faced.

    Hexanoid

Hexanoid: Hanabikinikibinasu

A creation of Mikaela designed to be stronger than the Trinoids, it is composed of Hanabi (Fireworks)/Bikini/Nikibi (Pimple)/Bee/Venus (Binasu)/Nasu (Eggplant). It is sent after Princess Freezia so as to obtain from her the BakuLaser.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Stronger than the average Trinoid thanks to being made of six components but unlike them it can't grow giant as the six ingredients are too energy-expending to let the Life Berry grow her back to size. Thus her example tells Mikaela to not make another Hexanoid.
  • Comedic Underwear Exposure: Her Bikini Beam transform her target's clothes into bikinis. Even the male aren't safe from that trick.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: Introduced as the main threat of the Summer Movie, but is defeated halfway through to make way for the true villain of the film later on: Galvidi.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: It would've been invincible if she hadn't shrank Yukito and given him the chance later on to destroy her insides.
  • Kill It Through Its Stomach: How she's finally defeated: Yukito figures that even if her body is borderline impenetrable her insides and organs are not, thus he has Ranru fire him into Hexanoid's open mouth so he can decimate her from the inside out.
  • Taken for Granite: Her Venus Stinger attacks transform all who they hit into stone statues.

    KillerGhost

KillerGhost

AbareKiller's own monster made to defeat the Abarangers for his first game as the Evolian's leader. It draws from his power and can trap the Bakuryuu inside of it.
  • Elite Mook: A much stronger than average monster who was all but unstoppable until AbareMax showed up.
  • Empty Shell: While it can function normally to a degree without Killer's command it relies mostly on his will acting on its body to move and has no soul or autonomy unlike the other Wicked Lifeforms.
  • The Worf Effect: After effortlessly tearing the Abarangers and their mech a new behind for almost 2 episodes straight it gets made short work of by AbareMax upon the form's debut.

    Anomalogaris II

Fortress Lifeform Anomalogaris II

A rebuilt and upgraded Anomalogaris, sent to finish the job the first one started. It can deploy an assistant lifeform, Barurigenia, to ward off opponents.

    Barugigenia

Connected Berserker Living Ship Barugigenia

A war machine created by Voffa (though specifically stated to not be a Giganoid). It's deployed from the Anomalogaris which can divide itself into smaller ships to attack foes or attack in its all-terrain tank form.
  • Mythology Gag: Deliberately modeled in its spaceship formation mode after the classic Showa and early Heisei villainous Sentai attack ships.
  • Stance System: Can switch between its default tank form or a divided spaceship squadron form.
  • The Worf Effect: It seemed unstoppable until Bakuryuu Styracosaurus made its debut, easily destroying it with its finisher: Fireball Crasher.

    KillerGhost II

Lijeweloid: KillerGhost Generation II

A revived KillerGhost, upgraded by Lije in a bid to one-up Jeanne and gain back Mikoto's attention.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: The Abarangers defeat in its giant form by accessing their Abare Mode and boosting AbarenOh's power with it to perform an Electric Drill Spin that straight-up impales the Jewelnoid and later pin it against a cliffside before using the Drill Spin again to destroy it.
  • Make My Monster Grow: Played straight and then inverted. It is spawned as a regular-sized monster but when it goes after the Abarangers it appears giant-sized from the get-go, then after its first defeat it returns back to life in a smaller form that Asuka defeats.
  • The Worf Effect: After nearly overwhelming the Abarangers, even in their Abare Mode, AbareBlack makes short work of it when he activates his own Abare Mode after recovering form his possession of the Armor of Darkness.

Other Villains

    Dimensional Drifter Galvidi

Dimensional Drifter Galvidi

Voice actor: Toshio Furukawa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/garuvidi.jpg
"Man, it was a big struggle. In order to steal this sword, I needed the power of your Dino Guts."
The main antagonist of the summer movie Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger DELUXE: Abare Summer is Freezing Cold, a dimensional thief that seeks the power of the Bakulaser for his own ends. He impersonates Princess Freezia so as to deceive Ryoga and co. into helping him out.
  • Big Bad: Of Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger DELUXE: Abare Summer is Freezing Cold as he plans to find and control the evil Bakuryuu and conquer Earth with them. While he only reveals himself in the middle of the film he's a far bigger threat than the Evolian in it, and easily swipes the main villain spot when he does reveal himself.
  • Eviler than Thou: Abarekiller attempts to subdue and turn him into his servant like he did to Yatsudenwani, Galvidi responds by quickly dispatching him with the Bakulaser and wounding him enough to put him out of action for the rest of the film.
  • Wild Card: Has no relation to the Evolian whatsoever, he only crosses paths with them due to seeking the Bakulaser that the Evolian also are after.
  • A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing: Disguised himself as the benevolent and beautiful Princess Freezia to manipulate the Abaranger into doing the work of finding and reassembling the Bakulaser for him.

    Evil Ninja Iga

Evil Ninja Iga

Voice actor: Kiyoyuki Yanada

A Space Ninja who arrived to Dino Earth and was sealed for centuries. He's later unsealed and forms a partnership with the Evolians, taking Furabiijo and Wendinu under his wing.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: He is strong, but not THAT strong, and constantly underestimates his opponents which leads to him failing to defeat the powerless Abaranger and Hurricaneger.
  • Big Bad: Of Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger vs. Hurricaneger.
