Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

Note that since YMMV.The Legend Of Korra has been unlocked, I've gone ahead and added the Unalaq entry mentioned above.

6994: The work page needs to be namespaced; get that taken care of and I'll add that in.

6995, 6996: Done.

6997: The sandbox content has been moved to the trope page; I added the coding for the "no RL examples" warning on the edit page. I also cutlisted the sandbox.

6999: Okay, most of this is done. The Harry Leland entry needs namespacing; I'll add it once that's taken care of. I put the Korra example down in the list because of capitalization. Also, check Monster.Marvel Animation and LMK the proper pothole to put on the X-Men header line, and a suitable header for the entire page.

7000, 7008: Done.

7009: I namespaced Savage, but I'm not familiar enough with the DC continuities to know what needs to go where. Post the examples as they should appear and I'll get 'em changed around.

7010: Done.

7011: I already got the first page; Septimus took care of it on the YMMV page.

7013: Done, although the Angel entries need to be rewritten to account for Angelus somehow.

7014: See the next post.

7016: Done.

7017: See the next post.

7019: We haven't had any complaints yet, so I see no reason to go to the trouble.

7020: Done, and I posted in the TRS thread.

7021, 7023-7025, 7027: Done.

The only thing that's left aside from my noted things above are the edits to YMMV.Jesu Otaku and its main page; I'll take care of those later this afternoon.

For Unalaq, should he be under under Ozai as Korra is a direct sequel to Avatar The Last Airbender and all?

For The New 52 stuff on the comics-page, please give that it's own folder at the bottom. everything else should go under a folder that says 'Pre-Flashpoint'

And Monster.Marvel Animation those X-men examples are all from the X-men animated series so just pothole them as X-men The Animated Series

And a header might be "The 90s animated Marvel canon gave us some surprisingly dark an twisted villains for such Lighter and Softer shows."

Here's Leland

[up] I thought about wording the Unalaq entry that way, but I don't really think it's necessary for the page.

Rather than folderizing Monster.DC And Vertigo, I've split the examples into !!-level headers. My question now is, should the Vertigo titles be moved to their own section or did Flashpoint cover them as well?

The changes to Monster.Marvel Animation are done.

Leland is added to Monster.Video Games And Visual Novels

[up][up][up][up] Here's 6994 with the title of the work namespaced. As a reminder, this entry should go in Monster.AnimeAndManga.

  • Aleria from the second OVA of Suisei no Gargantia is, in short, the Big Sister Bully trope taken to the max and then some. She cares for absolutely nothing but complete social, political, and religious control of her father's fleet and is shown to be willing to do anything to get what she wants. Case in point: when her youngest sister Linaria inherits her father's fleet and converts to a sky-based religion (implied to be a means of escaping Aleria), Aleria orders her other two sisters to hunt down her freighter and kill everyone on board. By the time Kugel arrived, only Linaria was left as a result of Aleria's relentless attack. She later intentionally lures the Hideauze onto the fleet by setting off mines on the seabed in order to publicly shame Kugel and leave the fleet up for grabs. Finally, after both attempts fail, she finds out that Linaria died. Hearing this, she smirks at her own sister's death and tries to usurp the vacant position as high priestess in order to become the leader of the fleet. Villains this bad are very hard to come by in this series, but Aleria takes the cake as the vilest of the bunch.

Willbyr: For Vertigo...maybe we should give it its own header. Most Vertigo titles are just an unrelated imprint under DC and are standalone. This can become tricker with Hellblazer and Swamp Thing which are in continuity, though.

On Monster.Western Animation, remove the Batman: The Brave and the Bold entries.

On Video Games And Visual Novels, in the Arkham Series Joker entry, italicize Arkham City: Endgame.

Also, on the main Complete Monster page, Visual Novels is still listed despite being a redirect

On Fallen Creator, the item about John Landis should be changed to:

  • John Landis, the director of Animal House, The Blues Brothers, An American Werewolf in London, Trading Places and the video for Michael Jackson's "Thriller", suffered one of the grislier disgraces on this list. While he was filming a segment for the anthology picture Twilight Zone: The Movie, a special effect went wrong, and a crashing helicopter killed actor Vic Morrow and two illegally employed child actors. Landis shook off criminal charges in a highly publicized court case, but the accident was a serious blow to Landis's career. What really makes it bad, though, is that it was entirely his fault. He ignored the advice of stunt men and actors alike, demanding the helicopter get closer in each shot so it'd look better. Morrow, in contrast, earned a Dying Momentof Awesome by pushing some of the child actors out of harm's way at the cost of his own life.
    • In spite of this, he still made fairly successful movies for most of the '80s, and had a major hit with Coming to America. What really derailed his career totally was the over-budget, out of control production of Beverly Hills Cop III, and the subsequent flop of Blues Brothers 2000 pretty much confirmed the kill. He then retreated to documentaries, a field in which he hasn't declined yet (he won an Emmy in 2008 for Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project), and is only now getting back into making feature films.

I am not sure if that entry is of a Fallen Creator, if they are still successful in documentaries. And even if it is, it violates the Example Indentation rules.

To clarify: That's Thread Mode and Responding. We don't do that on the main page, or most of the subpages. If you need a paragraph break, use two backslashes (the one above the Enter key) for each line break.

Although if your example is that long, you might want to see about winnowing down the text or breaking it into more then one example.

And double check against the Fallen Creator definition, and maybe ask around if it does fit. If he was still partially successful, then it's hard to deem him properly 'fallen'.

On Monster.Live Action TV, please replace the Stargate SG-1 examples with just this:

  • Stargate SG-1:
    • Anubis, by far the most evil and dangerous of the Goa'uld System Lords. He was banished by the other Goa'uld for actions they considered unspeakable even by their evil standards. (Bear in mind that this is a race of megalomaniacal Puppeteer Parasites who think nothing of torturing their dethroned rivals to death, then bringing them back to life and repeatedly doing it again.) He tricked Oma Desala, a wise higher-dimensional being, into helping him ascend so that he could become an immortal Energy Being, making sure to rub it into her face how she is unable to stop his evil acts. His subsequent plans after his return include repeatedly annihilating entire civilizations and replacing the Jaffa warriors with mindless super soldiers. After his stable form is destroyed he starts possessing random people to hold him until their bodies completely decay after a few days. His ultimate plan before he finally got taken out was to wipe out all life in the galaxy with an Ancient superweapon — all of it, mind you, including his own race and his entire army — so he could use the Ancient knowledge he retained to entirely recreate a galaxy's worth of races that would unquestionably worship him as a god.
    • Horrifically, Repli-Carter might count as the extremely rare cross between one of these and a Magnificent Bastard...she betrays both Fifth and Carter in very short order, manipulating Carter into feeling sympathetic because Carter believes Fifth was cruel to Repli-Carter. Turns out, she was merely using Carter's torture experience as grounds to manipulate her. Then, she killed Fifth, not out of vengeance or emotion, but to fuel her ambition to consume the galaxy. When real Carter showed signs of sympathy, Repli-Carter coldly and calmly, with a strangely static and uncaring version of the mannerism's real Carter would use when comforting someone, told her that Fifth wasn't worth any empathy because he was weak. She then set about wiping out the Milky Way, with her army devouring God knows how many people, ships, and planets. Eventually, she captured and attempted to torture one of Carter's best friends. Despite claiming that the real Carter's emotions and memories weren't meaningless to her, and having 'given her word' that she wouldn't invade earth or kill Daniel Jackson, she promptly did both. So, in short: in the few months she existed she killed her fellow replicator and creator, Fifth; psychologically manipulated and tortured her human progenitor, Samantha Carter; committed galactic genocide; captured and killed one of her progenitor's very best friends and attempted to conquer their home planet; and all this in the image of a beloved galactic heroine, with just a little more ambition and a little less sentiment.

The quote at the end of the RepliCarter entry on the page should be deleted.

On Double Standard Rape: Female on Male, please namespace Profit to Profit.

EDIT: @ 7047: Sure.

  • Alisa of God Eater Burst wears a sleeveless crop top that reveals the underside of her jugs. In the sequel manga The 2nd Break and God Eater 2, her new uniform still reveals her underboobs because it conveniently has to be zipped downwards and can't be zipped further down her chest. This was lampshaded by her Instant Fanclub in the manga.

Also for Western Animation, can you replace Ozai's entry with this:

  • Fire Lord Ozai from Avatar: The Last Airbender is a genocidal, child-abusing fascist dictator who has dedicated weeks at a time and large portions of his national army to hunting down and killing a twelve-year-old and his friends. He forced Ursa into marrying him, and tryed to kill her old lover out of spite. He obtained the throne when he manipulated Ursa into murdering his father to usurp the throne from his grieving older brother Iroh and then thanked her with banishment from the Fire Nation, not allowing her to take the children with her lest he would hunt them down and kill them. He physically abused his son Zuko, by burning his face for speaking out of turn, sent him on a Snipe Hunt to find the Avatar only to send one of his officers when he finds out the Avatar returned, and tried to shot him with lightning when he decides to join Aang. His loyal daughter Azula fares little better, as he cruelly manipulated her into becoming his perfect little villain to the point where she completely wrecks her emotional and mental health from the pressure, only to discard her to a completely meaningless position. Finally, his reaction to news of rebellions in the Earth Kingdom is to try to incinerate the entire continent. He doesn't regret any of those moments and feels no remorse for the consequences.

Please Null Edit The Fundamentalist; the Sandbox/ page was recently cut and as such, is displaying as a red link.

Also, there are numerous grammatical mistakes with the above request and I'd like to request a veto on those grounds; it really needs to be sent back to the Monster cleanup thread for grammatical fixing before being processed.
