Fanfic Ideas You're Sure Only You Think Are Good

Fate/stay night AU of the Heaven's Feel route (with occasional bits of the other routes), based on ATV Offroad Fury 2. In the moonlit world of underground ATV racing, the Holy Grail War is a championship of championships in which the winner gets all kinds of bragging rights and super-cool shit I don't have time to go into right now.

Shirou Emiya, a man who's never even ridden an ATV before, has been employed by the Matou Syndicate to win this illustrious series of competitions — if he ever wants to get his girlfriend Sakura out of her grandfather's abusive clutches, at any rate.

A fanfic where Ted Logan accidentally ends up traveling to an alternate timeline where he and Bill never went back in time. There, he meets that timeline's version of himself... and its John Wick. Yep. Ted is more than a little scared of John, and John forgot how dumb he was back in high school.

So I started this thread in the writers block thread, because I've been loosely brainstorming a story based on that particular concept (characters who got their abilities via training, magic, technology, or through unique biology).

No thoughts on a plot, except I'm continually considering a scene that's a loose Shout-Out to this scene from Super Mario Bros. Z:

I've got a vague idea for the magic character and the character who got their power through training, but have no idea who to use for the Tech and biology characters.

The real problem is, I'd like five people, but there are only 4 methods I can think of, so head over to the Writers Block thread I started through the link. It'd help a lot.

So thanks to that thread I linked to earlier, I've been thinking a bit more on my different types of powers thread for the one kind of story I'm always thinking about: A big Crossover.

The idea was to take characters from different Anime and Games with different abilities (based on the premise of one gaining strength through pure training, one through magic—either natural or with tools—one with technology, and one via a unique biology that gives them their powers, with possibility of one more who gains power through inheriting it somehow) thrown together and forced to cooperate for some reason (loosely, to return to their worlds, but I haven't decided yet).

After pondering it, I've actually chosen three characters:

1) Roronoa Zoro;

2) Mega-man Trigger / Volnut;

3) Lucy Heartfillia

You can likely guess which categories the three cover, which leaves just the biology ability. That's much tougher. And I still haven't a clue if I'll really do the inheritance as well (there's already a lot of overlap for training, and inheriting power is the same).

Still, brainstorming ideas is fun. It helps inspire me for later.

Double Post.

Been considering some characters to fill those last two slots in my hypothetical crossover story.

Some people have suggested there's a difference between Magic, Supernatural powers, and powers gained through religion. If that's the case, I'm considering using someone from Darkstalkers for my biological character. They are supernatural, but gain their powers through birth.

I'm shifting between Jon Talbain and Donovan Bane for options. I'd also still like one more dude, maybe via some kind of inheritance.

A crossover of Day Z and Dead Or Alive told from Ayane's point of view.

It'd be a Fusion Fic AU where Ayane is a survivor and a typical Eastern European Lower-Class Lout (she'd be a stereotypical gopnik, who wears a track suit, sits down squatting, and drinks lots of vodka and energy drinks). And it would be a sort of Song Fic with a soundtrack comprised mostly of Disco songs, with some Eurobeat songs on occasion.

In short, a Survival Horror Black Comedy fic.

A Alien Fanfiction where Weyland-Utani got their dream of being able to mass produce weapons based on the Xenomorph. And promptly fucked up so hard Earth is the only safe place and nobody can get in or out. All stations, colonies, and even a few ships are littered with xenos.

So I was reading a Danganronpa fanfiction when I came across a blatant My Immortal Shout-Out. And from there, my mind started turning until I got this crazy idea for a Crack Fic.

The idea does contain spoilers for Super Dangan Ronpa 2 (and the whole franchise), so be wary of that before clicking on the spoiler tag.

Basically, Ebony was actually Junko Enoshima, who travelled to Hogwarts and turned everyone goffik to spread despair. And, when brainwashing the 77th class to become the Remnants of Despair, they all turn goffik, with Gundam and Ibuki being the most goffik of the lot. Hilarity Ensues.

A Garfield fanfic, where Jon is the owner of an animal sanctuary inhabited by Garfield, Odie, Nermal, Arlene, the US Acres crew, and a few Original Characters. Also, the sanctuary is Jon's own suburban home (so there's a few issues with the neighbors), and Liz the veterinarian is in two minds about the whole thing - on the one hand, she knows Jon's heart is in the right place, but on the other, she doesn't think a suburban home is the best place for an animal sanctuary.

Here's one: A Dragon Quest VIII fic that's Medea/Charmles, in which they go through with the betrothal and Charmles undergoes a hell of a lot of character development through the course of it to bring it to a happy ending.

An Elsewhere Fic set in the Zootopia universe, but it doesn't take place in Zootopia. It instead takes place in the city of Sharpei, a major city in Pandina (the Zooniverse's stand-in for China, according to my personal headcanon) and is described as 'the Zootopia of the East'.

The entire cast is comprised of Original Characters, and none of them have any connection with the canon cast^note Which is why it's in this thread, since I know most would say 'you might as well just make an original story'. The main protagonist is an Asian golden cat called Jin Mao, a cop who works for Internal Affairs. His investigation into the corrupt detective that has mysteriously disappeared from their custody leads to him butting heads with Mistress Gun, the leader of the Six Thumbs Triad and the most feared criminal in all Pandina. This, in turn, leads to him uncovering a conspiracy to manufacture bootleg faux-meat for the overseas predator market... by using cheaper REAL meat instead.

Oh yes, and there's lots of Gun Fu and lots of... Regular-Fu also. Essentially a John Woo movie with Funny Animals, or possibly a modernised, mammal-only Kung Fu Panda. If I ever feel like writing this thing, it'd probably do me some good to watch that movie. :V

An Iron Blooded Orphans fanfic, but a little bit darker.

The story would be set in Calamity War. At first, it starts out as generic war story of Mobile Suit verses Mobile Armor, but as it turns out, not only Mobile Armors are powered by children, they are the basis of the Ālaya-Vijñāna system, and this very fact is completely unheard of for Human Debris users and newer Gjallarhorn members.

The children inside the Mobile Armor, unlike those piloting Mobile Suits, are basically Wetware CPU, or even Brain in a Jar themselves. However, the failed attempt turned them into Ax-Crazy Eldritch Abomination, leading to the creation of Mobile Suits. Of course, due to sharing the same basis, Gundam Frame pilots will become increasingly dependent to the Ālaya-Vijñāna system and will one day share the same fate and become the same as the Mobile Armors. The longer a Mobile Suit pilot pilots a Mobile Suit, the faster they become a Mobile Armor.

The true nature of Calamity War might be much deeper than we think, perhaps more of about staving off abominations created by humans, or even worse. No wonder Gjallarhorn member despise the use of Ālaya-Vijñāna system. However, in order to fend of Mobile Armors, the use of Gundam Frame and Ālaya-Vijñāna system are completely necessary, this leads to a vicious cycle, an unending cycle of mobile weapon pilots staving off abomination who were once children for the sake of the humanity advancement.

Oh, the characters in the story would be drawn in an art style similar to the one used by Ume Aoki.

A slice of life-y Supergirl fic.

Kara makes a social media account for Supergirl (probably Twitter or Instagram), it totally wasn't because Kara Danvers needed a story for Snapper. Nope not at all.

It would then basically be a good blog. With a few other perspectives of people a little bit shocked Supergirl mainly posts about the best places to get dumplings in National City, and Kara subsequently sulking when she realizes she's made it practically impossible for her to get a order at her favourite place.

No real plot but basically and Intercontinuity Crossover where Droite / Dextra meets Aki / Akiza. They duel, they kick each other's asses, they fall in love.

Yup. I'm crazy, but you gotta admit, it's a pairing no one's thought of. Which might be funny for some of you, since I've often stated I hate shipping, but sometimes, I ignore it...mainly when Yuri is involved.

A Cardfight! Vanguard and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's crossover where Aichi (the main character of Vanguard) ends up in the world of 5D's, has to learn how to play a card game he's never heard of to even begin to get anywhere in that world, has to figure out how to get home, and has to avoid the Arcadia Movement chasing him down.

Honestly I think there could be an interesting story involving Sayer wanting Aichi for unknown (At least to Aichi) reasons.

Sadly I haven't watched enough of 5D's to know how this could even be done. I can only imagine it taking place before Season 4 of Vanguard, but in between Seasons 1 and 2 of 5D's from what I've read about it.

Eco-Warrior Precure, a Pretty Cure story - 4 cures with environmental-themed names; the story has a Green Aesop; Cures are named Cure Terra (green-and-brown color scheme, element is earth [mostly plants], she is a Country Mouse from Chihayaakasaka who has moved to the city of Osaka, she has green eyes, she hopes to become a doctor some day, her hair turns green in Cure form), Cure Zephyr (pink-and-orange color scheme, element is air), Cure Tide (blue-and-purple color scheme, element is water, her Cure weapon is the Tide Clarinet, she loves reading and hopes to become a librarian one day, her hair turns violet in Cure form) and Cure Blaze (red-and-yellow color scheme, element is fire, she wears glasses in civilian form, she has a Sugar And Ice Personality); mascot is Viridi the squirrel; they have to find the find the magical Gaia Seeds in order to save the world from the evil aliens who want to pollute Earth to the point where all humanity is killed off; their transformation items are compacts; there is a pollution motif too, in the form of Planet Blight

Had one not too long ago that was a crossover between Crash Bandicoot and Sonic the Hedgehog. Unlike the majority of fanfic ideas I've had, the premise is pretty simple, but I would imagine not what most people would expect out of this particular crossover.

Nitrous Oxide, the extraterrestrial Big Bad of Crash Team Racing, shows up at Sonic's world and challenges Jet the Hawk - Sonic's rival from Sonic Riders - to a race, as one of his distant ancestors apparently knew Jet's distant ancestor from the Babylonian home planet and had a score to settle with him before he died.

The whole idea for this crossover came about solely from the fact that both of these characters are green, are the protagonist's main enemies from a racing spin-off of their respective series, and both arrogantly claim to be the fastest beings in the entire universe, and everything I just mentioned is an Excuse Plot I made up in about five minutes to justify the pair of them having a race to see who's the fastest of the fastest in the universe. :V

Pretty Cure Spice Supreme - 6 cures with spice-themed names; Cures are named Cure Nutmeg (orange-and-turquoise color scheme, element is thunder), Cure Ginger (maroon-and-white color scheme, element is earth), Cure Cinnamon (navy-and-silver color scheme, element is water), Cure Clove (coral-and-mint color scheme, element is light), Cure Cumin (peach-and-gold color scheme, element is energy) and Cure Tumeric (yellow-and-magenta color scheme, element is fire); mascot is Saffron the tapier; they have to find the Phoenix Gems in order to restore Saffron's kingdom - when the enemy invaded, the box containing the gems shattered and they were scattered over the Cures' hometown; their transformation items are watches; there is a herb motif too, in the form of the evil Lord Tarragon, and the Terrible Trio are named Paseri, Seji and Rozumari, while The Dragon is Taimu.

Your Lie in April x Brütal Legend crossover. Gonna spoiler some stuff from the former, just to be sure.

• Eddie's accident at the Kabbage Boy concert leaves him alive, but paraplegic. He's naturally bitter about it, especially once KB's just sort of leave him on his own as they continue touring as if nothing happened.
• He meets Kaori - specifically, post-episode 13 Kaori (so the one who busted her head on the railing).
• Mundane discussions about life, music and the meaning of both occur throughout the fic.
• Eddie is there to try and help Kaori during her collapse in Ep 16. Notices her change in tone. Tries to help in his own way independently of Kousei and others.
• Before her operation, the two get to play some music together. Close Your Eyes Forever by Ozzy Osbourne and Lita Ford has been on my mind for that. (that's probably too on the nose) Eddie gives her a good luck charm; his Ormagoden belt buckle. His career ended, hers only begins, he reasons.
• Prior to operation, Kaori clutches the buckle a bit too hard - nerves at probably dying soon - and draws some blood. Once she passes away, that whisks her away to the Age of Metal.
• In the epilogue, Eddie and Kousei end up visiting her grave at the same time and share some thoughtful discussion.

...and then there's the sequel to that, what's with Kaori being thrown back in time, good as new, and with a violin that blows stuff up, as well as being completely out of her element.

Honestly, I’d be ashamed of thinking this up but i’ve already written it out, so it’s a thing now, but...

Don’t hurt me for this, but the general idea is basically “what if Boku no Pico wasn’t shotacon hentai”. it’s dark, edgy, and everyone (and i mean everyone) suffers-even all the “dirty” moments from the original OV As are rewired into dark scenes.

Please don’t hurt me.

So wait, do you mean taking the existing plot and recontextualizing it so it's played as appropriately unsettling instead of being creepy-ass pedobait? Or do you mean taking the concept and retooling it so it's not pedobait in the first place?

I don't know anything about the premise or plot besides it being shota hentai, so I'm not sure if there's anything salvagable in there...but if you already wrote it, there's not much point in discussing whether it's worth it or not.

Yep, I’m completely retooling it so that it’s not creepy pedobait in the first place.
