A list of Shout Outs in The Patrick Star Show.
Season 1
- "Lost in Couch":
- Captain Quasar's ship is called the S.S. Super Minnow. On Gilligan's Island, the characters would try to repair a ship called the S.S. Minnow to get off the island.
- When Quasar commands Pat-Tron to open the ship's doors, Pat-Tron replies, "I'm sorry, Doug, I'm afraid I can't do that."
- Patrick watches Bowling for Clams, which he thinks is boring. GrandPat likes it, though.
- "Pat-a-thon":
- Squidward answering the Prank Calls is a homage to The Simpsons: he covers the phone and loudly asks for the supposed person, and the others laugh at him, just like Moe's prank calls.
- Sandy strikes the iconic pose from Saturday Night Fever when using her dancing machine.
- "The Yard Sale":
- One of the items at the Stars' Garage Sale is a figurine of the rocket van from fellow Nickelodeon show Breadwinners.
- A clothing store in the future is named Forever 87, referencing the clothing store Forever 21.
- Mr. Krabs' prospector ancestor has a mime named Marcel.
- The prospector is last heard yelling "Hello? Has the West been won yet?"
- "Squidina's Little Helper" has Squidina activate a "slapstick lever" that performs a The Three Stooges routine with Patrick.
- "I Smell a Pat":
- Patrick hosts Pat-sterpiece Theater. The book he chooses to read is Downtown Patty.
- One of the noses that Squidina gives Patrick is "the Durante". Patrick imitates Jimmy Durante's catchphrase after putting it on.
- "The Haunting of Star House": Both GrandPat and Cecil yell "You owe me restitution!", a line from Sally in It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown after she realizes she waited all night in the pumpkin patch for nothing.
- "Terror at 20,000 Leagues":
- Bunny's Halloween costume is "the Invisible Mom", portrayed by her hanging her clothes on a fishing line as she hides naked around the corner.
- The alien bursting through Pat-Tron's chest is a homage to Alien.
- Patrick leans out of Plankenstein's TV, referencing the Signature Scene in The Ring.
- A montage shows Patrick on The Joy of Painting, complete with him dressing like Bob Ross.
- "To Dad and Back": Silly, Confused, and Hungry, three of the emotion people running Cecil's brain, do a slapstick routine taken from The Three Stooges.
- "Survivoring": The episode's name and plot reference NBC's Survivor, another reality show about survival skills in the wilderness.
- "Patrick's Alley":
- Patrick's opening song is a reference to Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.
- Patrick does Ouchie's Hints, a parody of Blue's Clues, and even dresses like Steve, the original host of the show.
- Patrick does a lesson on manners with a puppet in a homage to Sesame Street.
- GrandPat's face appearing in the Sun as he rhymes about the babies appearing is a reference to Teletubbies.
- "X Marks the Pot":
- Some of Man Ray's alternate costumes are based on other superheroes.
- Man Ray's lair includes a cake labeled "#40". Man Ray took forty cakes. He took 40 cakes. That's as many as four tens. And That's Terrible.
- "Mid-Season Finale":
- The episode is a Whole-Plot Reference to Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, featuring characters popping out of a wall and telling jokes and a poetry reading, among other things.
- GrandPat and Granny Tentacles heckle from a balcony seat, imitating Statler and Waldorf from The Muppet Show.
- That's Tinkle is a homage to Lassie. It's a One-Joke Fake Show about Tinkle tricking people into thinking someone fell in a well, then biting them.
- The Indian-head test pattern is recreated with Patrick's head instead.
- The episode ends on a surf rock song playing as Patrick and Squidina ride through previous parts of the episode to look for where they put the ending. The song is a soundalike of the theme song to Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!.
- "Shrinking Stars": When the family visits Shmandor, they are seen dressed like the Jetsons.
- "Fitz Patrick": FitzPatrick pranks the audience by telling them to look at what he left under their seats. Usually, when Oprah Winfrey does this, it's a gift; but with FitzPatrick being a Card-Carrying Villain, it's jellyfish that shock the audience instead.
- "Uncredible Journey":
- The episode's title and plot, of pets traveling back to reach their home, are references to Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey.
- The store Trader Barg'n's is has a similar name to, and resembles, a Trader Joe's.
- "Backpay Payback": Two of Squidward's ancestors are Tentacles the Hun and Tentaclees the Serpent Slayer, being based on Attila the Hun and Hercules, respectively.
- "House Hunting":
- The episode opens with a cartoon set in "Hamdonia", with an intentional Retraux aesthetic bringing 30s cartoons to mind. In particular, much of the setting is a parody of The Cookie Carnival.
- While brushing his teeth as the house shakes, GrandPat ends up with a toothpaste hairdo that resembles Elvis Presley.
- Patrick makes a face similar to Rat Fink when driving his studiomobile.
- "The Patterfly Effect" has Patrick getting a similar haircut and mustache to Albert Einstein when he graduates college.
- "The Prehistoric Patrick Star Show" has a cell version of GrandPat eating other cells in a maze that resembles the one seen in Pac-Man.
- "Dad's Stache Stash":
- One of the staches in Cecil's stache stash is Luigi's, labeled "Plumber".
- Patrick wears Theodore Roosevelt's mustache. He promptly holds up a big stick and uses it to smash the room.
- Patrick wears a surrealist mustache resembling Salvador Dali's, which turns him into a melting clock.
- "The Starry Awards": The 2D puppets that Plankenstein and his crew turn into are animated in a similar style to South Park.
- "Stuntin'": Patrick and GrandPat do motorcycle stunts in a similar outfit to Evel Knievel.
- "Which Witch is Which?": Agnes is modeled after Endora from Bewitched. Much like Endora, Agnes also dislikes her daughter's husband and repeatedly gets his name wrong.
- "Bubble Bass Reviews":
- The episode opens with Bubble Bass in an outfit similar to The Nostalgia Critic.
- Bubble Bass has a My Tiny Seahorse doll.
Season 2
- "The Patrick Show Cashes In": Patrick's "Oopsie Doodle!! Just Prizes" cereal is a reference to the Cap'n Crunch "Oops! All Berries" cereal.
- "The Star Games": Patrick is offered the choice between "door number one and door number two" while running away, much like how contestants earn prizes on Let's Make a Deal.
- "Super Stars": The Super Stars' introduction references the opening to Super Friends.
- "Now Museum, Now You Don't": The episode is loaded with parodies of paintings and famous works of art.
- Patrick hides in the diner pictured in Nighthawks.
- Cecil wipes the paint off the Marilyn Diptych.
- Patrick goes into The Persistence of Memory, where all the clocks are instead melting pieces of pizza.
- In a reference to The Birth of Venus, Patrick pushes Venus out of her clamshell and hides inside.
- Patrick imitates the Son of Man painting.
- Cecil holds up a globe like Atlas.
- The way Lady Upturn falls after being thrown off the stairs is a reference to Wile E Coyote And The Roadrunner.
- A sign reading "Security Breach" flashes after Patrick breaks into the museum. Word of God from the episode's writer confirms this was a reference to Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach.
- "10 & 1 Toilets" is a Whole-Plot Reference to 101 Dalmatians, with GrandPat playing the role of Cruella.
- "Family Plotz" shows that the story of Goldilocks was actually about GrandPat.
- "The Wrath of Shmandor":
- A logo for The Shmandorians appears, similar to the opening title of The Jetsons.
- The Shmandorain sergeant says "War... war never changes!"
- "There Goes the Neighborhood" is a reference to Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. Patrick dresses up as Mr. Rogers and sings a song, even using little puppets to portray him and Squidina going around the neighborhood.
- "Dr. Smart Science":
- The opening with Patrick's head on a TV, spinning through space, is a reference to the opening theme for Bill Nye the Science Guy.
- Patrick's X-ray of his stomach has a cupcake with a lit candle. In the Looney Tunes short Patient Porky, a character sees an entire cake with lit candles in his stomach the same way. This was an intentional reference per Word of God.
- On the chalkboard that the plant is writing on is an image of a melting clock.
- Patrick is dressed like Carl Sagan when he talks about space.
- "Big Baby Patrick" has a Baby Stars theme song that references the Muppet Babies (1984) opening theme.
