    Izuku Midoriya

Izuku Midoriya

Voiced by: YamatoSFX

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: In canon, Midoriya undergoes some Heroic Self-Deprecation about being All Might's successor and his worthiness to be a hero. That aspect is also in the abridged series, but it's ratcheted up into outright self-loathing. Midoriya's inner monologues have him frequently insult himself and tell himself that he's not good enough to do much of anything. And when he's not insulting himself, he's putting on a Stepford Smiler act about the terrible things he goes through, where it's clear from the aforesaid self-insults and paper-thin coping mechanisms that his sanity is hanging on by a thread.
Aizawa: You proud of being a burden? You feel good about yourself?
    Izuku: Not even once, sir!
  • Adaptational Badass: In canon, it took Izuku nine months to clean the beach and get his body in fit enough shape to handle One for All. In the abridged series, he did it in thirty days.
  • Adaptational Relationship Overhaul: In canon, Uraraka develops a crush on him that he seems oblivious to until the final arc all but saying he reciprocates. In the abridged series, he falls for Uraraka hard upon meeting her for the first time, with her being the oblivious one.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Being the first girl to actually give him any modicum of respect, Izuku immediately begins heavily crushing on Uraraka, even thinking her puke is pretty (admittedly, it is rainbows).
  • Butt-Monkey: Owing to his Adaptational Angst Upgrade, the series adds even more physical punishment his way and gleefully makes him suffer for our sick entertainment.
  • Fan of Underdog: In this universe, All Might is hated by the public for being a boring Invincible Hero who finishes his fights too quickly. Izuku still looks up to him regardless.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: It's quite noticeable that Izuku doesn't have as much of a potty mouth as the rest of the cast. When he thinks he's about to get kicked out of UA on day one, all he can think is "Heckity heck heck!"
  • Hero-Worshipper: He's basically the only person in this version of the series to still look up to All Might.
  • Hidden Depths: If the scene in episode 2 where he fails to keep his internal serenade toward Uraraka internal is to be taken at face value, then Deku's actually a pretty good singer.
  • Love at First Sight: Towards Uraraka. All he can say when meeting her is "BEH?!" which makes Uraraka think he's some sort of sheep.
  • Nice Guy: Actually keeps this trait while most everyone undergoes Adaptational Jerkass or Adaptational Villainy.
  • Stepford Smiler: When he's not telling himself that he's not good enough, Deku is going through some very thinly-veiled coping about the stuff he gets put through. After his bones get repeatedly broken to get re-healed, Deku gives off a Thousand-Yard Stare at home, only thinking that some sort of pain relief would have been appreciated.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: He's been thoroughly put through the physical and emotional wringer within the span of two episodes already by the time of this writing, and he doesn't seem to be losing his optimism and sense of righteous heroism any time soon.

    Katsuki Bakugou

Katsuki Bakugou

Voiced by: Coffinjockey

  • Adaptational Jerkass: While Bakugo in canon is a giant prick, he's still a decent person underneath. This version of Bakugo threatens to reunite Deku and his father for the sole purpose of murdering Deku's father in front of him. Another noteworthy example is Bakugo's Suicide Dare towards Deku—in the source, it was something he's only shown doing once, whereas here, it's at least implied to be something he does on the regular, when he's not threatening to kill Deku himself.
  • Ax-Crazy: Bakugo is shown several times threatening to kill Deku, and unlike the more ambiguous murderousness in the source material, it's pretty explicit here that he means it.
  • Bad People Abuse Animals: He gleefully tells Deku that he'll kill him like he kills rabbits. Played with in that he promptly reveals that he only does it because they mess up his garden, though he does so with a rather... sadistic look on his face.
  • Hidden Depths: He's into gardening, apparently.
  • I Reject Your Reality: Episode 3 opens with him realizing Deku is actually now a student and UA, then flashing back to the teacher at their old school congratulating the two of them on getting in. This leads him to conclude that their teacher got UA to accept Deku solely to prank him and kick him out on the first day.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Bakugo likes to claim that he's Deku's good friend who's there for him... all interspersed with a montage of him doing such things as telling him to kill himself, kicking him around and in the present day telling him that he wants to find Deku's father so he can kill him right in front of him.
  • Unprovoked Pervert Payback: When Deku uses his powers in episode 3, Bakugou thinks that Deku had powers this whole time and had been allowing himself to get beaten up out of masochism, and immediately charges at him screaming "I'M NOBODY'S WHORE DEKU!"

    Ochako Uraraka

Ochako Uraraka

Voiced by: KaniDay

  • Adaptational Personality Change: She goes from The Cutie to a mild example of The Fake Cutie who masks her tomboyish foul mouth with a cute and feminine demeanor.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Downplayed, if not subverted altogether. She's The Fake Cutie, but the only thing her girly facade is concealing is her language and tomboyishness - her sweetness and altruism are both entirely genuine.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When Iida chastises her language for shouting "Slow your roll, bitches", her response is to try "Please slow your roll, bitches."
    Iida: Much better.
  • The Fake Cutie: She is way more tomboyish than she would like people to believe. Her Mask of Sanity frequently slips, as Uraraka curses more often than most of the cast, revels in the glory of destruction, and generally shows herself to be very crass. During the entrance exam to UA, after nearly dying to a giant robot, she curses up a storm as the pain of what just happened overwhelms her.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: And the "jerk" part is downplayed with her actual personality - about her worst actual shown trait is her crassness, she isn't even a person who aims her swears at other people.
  • Mask of Sanity: Downplayed, in the mask hides irritability and crassness rather than insanity.
  • Nice Girl: It's quite clear that she's one of the few actually altruistic people in this Crapsack World when she goes out of her way to stop Izuku from falling twice.
  • The Lad-ette: When she's thrown off guard by stress or surprise, Ochako's real personality is shown to be a crass, foul-mouthed tomboy.
  • Oblivious to Love: To the point that she somehow doesn't notice Deku loudly singing at her.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Uraraka spills out quite the number of expletives while pinned down by some debris. Not that it stops Midoriya from still seeing nothing but pink and sparkles when looking at her.
  • Stepford Smiler: She acts girly-girl and cute most of the time, but it doesn't take much for her to reveal that she's actually rather crass and irascible.

    All Might (A.K.A Toshinori Yagi)

All Might / Toshinori Yagi

Voiced by: takahata101

  • Adaptational Jerkass: He is much more demeaning towards Izuku and the public in general instead of the Large Ham Big Good in canon.
  • Berate and Switch: Toshinori summarizes Izuku's actions against the sludge villain in an positively brutal manner.
All Might: You rushed in where even the so-called Pros hesitated. And as I watched from the crowd, I thought to myself that if even this young, Quirkless, reckless, insignificant, foolish, pathetic, astronomically stupid boy could find the courage to step into a situation that - and I must reiterate - he had no business in, well... Let's just say it sparked something in me that I thought died a long time ago. But far more importantly, it made me realize one undeniable fact... Young man, you too... can become a hero.
Izuku: Wow! That was really mean! Until it wasn't!
  • Boring, but Practical: Deconstructed. His Super-Strength is so powerful that he can end things in one punch. But in a society where heroes are more like brand-selling celebrities and flashy fights are more desirable, All Might is seen as a boring Invincible Hero that has none of the respect or popularity his canon version has.
  • Brooklyn Rage: Played with, in that he's Japanese, but in his skinny form, his Transatlantic accent becomes a gravelly New Yorker one, which fits his Knight in Sour Armor personality far more.
  • Expy: His gravelly voice and general sour disposition in his skinny form, to say nothing of the fact that he's loosely mentoring an impressionable nervous teenager through somewhat questionable means, bring to mind Rick Sanchez.
  • Jaded Washout: He still does hero work, but he's so panned by the public for his perceived mundanity that he gets pretty much nothing from it. The general rejection has caused him to develop a very cynical view of the hero business and world in general.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's cynical, rude, and has a low opinion of humanity, but he genuinely wants to do good for the world and help Izuku - his Training from Hell is explicitly a way to make sure that One For All isn't a Deadly Upgrade, and he forces UA's staff to accept Izuku's application with a healthy application of blackmail.

    Sludge Villain

Sludge Villain

Voiced by: Grimmjack

  • And I Must Scream: All Might stuffs him into a pair of plastic water bottles, and he is very vocal about how much he dislikes it.
Sludge villain: I can feel myself in two places at once! IT HURTS MORE THAN YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE!
  • Big Eater: He eats the the cash register from the store he robbed, though it doesn't sit right, and he asks for a pizza when he's holding Bakugou hostage. Justified as he missed lunch.
  • Stupid Crooks: He's not very good at what he does.

    Inko Midoriya

Inko Midoriya

Voiced by: Megami33

  • Mama Bear: She quietly swears to kill UA's faculty after her son returns from the entrance exam beaten to a pulp by Recovery Girl and emotionally traumatized by the entire ordeal.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: More like Sugar And Fire Personality, but Inko is a genuinely caring and devoted parent... who gets very harsh with people who impede her ability to care for him.

    Eraserhead (A.K.A Shota Aizawa)

Eraserhead / Shota Aizawa

Voiced by: Project Mouthwash

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: The original Aizawa was tired and depressed because he lost someone close to him when he was younger. This Aizawa is tired and depressed because his marriage has fallen apart, he's homeless, and he lives in the rafters of U.A. High.
  • Cold Ham: Even when he launches into a not-so-subtle tirade about how much he hates what his life has become, Aizawa still keeps his nonchalant demeanor.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He consistently snarks at his student's expense.
  • Jaded Washout: In spite of having an impressive quirk that cancels out other people's quirks, Aizawa is considered a D-list hero. He's also very discontent with his personal life.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: He gives praise to Midoriya for scoring higher than Bakugou by no more than .1.

    Tenya Iida

Tenya Iida

Voiced by: Hayabusa449

  • Adaptational Jerkass: In the show, Iida is one of the most moral and kindhearted characters. Here he's completely bought into the superficiality and materialism that permeates this series' version of Hero society and thus believes Deku was a fool for throwing away his chance to get into UA just to save Uraraka. He even speculates that Deku having an ulterior motive is the only possible explanation for why he'd do it. Though given that Iida later asks Deku to teach him the "old ways of heroism", this is Downplayed a bit.
  • The Comically Serious: Much of the humor around Iida in this incarnation comes from how seriously and respectfully he tries to treat absolutely everything. After the first day at UA, he offers to be Deku's friend, but does so by saying that he'll be sending over a contract for Deku's lawyers to ponder over first.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Not him, but he somehow mistakes both Bakugo and Todoroki for girls.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: "Evil" might be a stretch, seeing as he's trying to become a hero, but he's clearly indoctrinated into the current hero society that's all about commercialism and and looking flashy over... well, being heroic. This makes him extremely confused about why Izuku destroyed the giant robot, said to be worth zero points, to save Uraraka.
  • Politically Incorrect Hero: He clearly doesn't have a progressive opinion on lesbians based on how he scolds Bakugo after mistaking him for a Butch Lesbian.

    Mina Ashido
Voiced by: xbubblemunkyx

    Denki Kaminari

Denki Kaminari

Voiced by: Eagle8Burger

  • Adaptational Superpower Change: In addition to his canonical powers, somehow he's able to use electricity to speak with people telepathically on occasion.
  • Dumb Blonde: Not only does he think the winner of Aizawa's test gets a half-day when actually the loser gets expelled, he has to be reminded!

    Terrence

Terrence

Voiced by: YamatoSFX

  • But Now I Must Go: After getting expelled, Terrence ascends into the sky in a shaft of light.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Even though he only appears in one scene in episode 3, everyone is saddened by him leaving.
  • Stylistic Suck: He's drawn more crudely than anyone in the show.
