Protagonist

     Klein Moretti

The main protagonist of Lord of Mysteries. He is a Transmigrator who comes from the modern era China. His real name is Zhou Mingrui.

Church of the Evernight Goddess

The Evernight Goddess is the Sequence 0 of the Darkness Pathway. She wields the power of the night, concealment, and misfortune. She is currently trying to take control of the authority of the Death Pathway and Twilight Giant Pathway. She is the first Transmigrator that came out from Sefirah Castle.
  • Casting a Shadow: She has authority on the darkness element.
  • The Chessmaster:
    • She has concealed Lilith's identity for thousands of years as part of her plan to obtain the characteristics of the Twilight Giant Pathway.
    • She let the Numinous Episcopate believed their attempt to make an artificial death was a success only to manipulate them.
  • Deity of Human Origin: She was a human in modern era. According to the author's interview, her background setting before transmigration is set to be European. She was part of the higher management of a big company.
  • Flowers of Femininity: Her divine kingdom in the Astral World is named Tenebrous Heaven. It is covered in an endless and silent darkness filled with moonflowers and night vanillas.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: The Mythical Creature Form of the Darkness Pathway is a Demonic Wolf with four arms.
  • Physical God: She is the Sequence 0 of the Darkness Pathway.
  • The Sacred Darkness: Her darkness symbolises horror, all dangerous things at night, but also repose and sleep.
  • Self-Made Orphan: After she reincarnates, she killed her father and took his Beyonder characteristics.
  • Sent Into Hiding / Suppressed History: The power of Concealment allows her to hide secrets from the public and even forbid people from mentioning it. The secret can be a person, an object, or a certain range of space.
  • Slept Through the Apocalypse: Like Klein and Roselle, she is from the modern era. She had her soul sealed in a cocoon and reincarnated in a distant future, due to the resurrection plan of the Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth.
  • Time Abyss: She has lived since the Second Epoch which ended around 3700 years before the current era.
  • Winds of Destiny, Change!: As the Empress of Misfortune she wields certain power over fate and can Curse peoples with bad luck. This manifested when Old Neil prayed for 30 pounds, and it was achieved through making a rich person lose his money.
  • You Cannot Grasp the True Form: It is impossible to see her appearance if she doesn't allow it.

Nighthawks

  • The Men in Black: All Nighthawks are dressed in black, their elite also wear red gloves. They specialise in dealing with the supernatural. Most of them are Beyonders of the Darkness Pathway and have the ability to enter people's dreams to interrogate them.

     Dunn Smith

Dunn Smith was the captain of the Nighthawks, a division under the Church of the Evernight Goddess, in Tingen City diocese. He was the one who recruited Klein Moretti to join the Nighthawks.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: He never had the courage to confess his feelings to Daly Simone before he died.
  • Combat Tentacles: At Sequence 7 he became able to use tentacle-like limbs protruding from his back to fight at close range. He used this ability to forcefully impede Megose’s movements, who carried the spawn of the True Creator.
  • Dream Walker: The signature ability of a Nightmare is to invade their targets dreams to interrogate them.
  • Forced Sleep:
    • As a Nightmare he has the ability to put his targets into sleeps without alerting them. This ability has a limited range if done quickly, but can slowly coax the targets to sleep if they are within 100 meters. At Sequence 7, the number of targets that can be affected at the same time doesn't exceed ten.
    • At Sequence 4, he obtained the ability to manipulate countless strands of invisible hair that can pacify and immobilize someone, preventing them from acting and making them wish to sleep.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Without hesitation, he stabbed his heart to use a powerful sealed artifact and save Tingen City from a descent of the True Creator.
  • Innate Night Vision: At Sequence 9, he got the ability to see through darkness without any lights.
  • Many Spirits Inside of One: Because he had consumed the Beyonder characteristics of his dead companions. As he said it was not really because he wanted enhance his power, but to keep them with him. Thanks to that he was able to see them in his dreams.
  • The Sleepless: The Sequence 9, Sleepless, considerably reduces the need of sleep, 2-4 hours a day is enough.

     Daly Simone

Daly Simone was the most famous Spirit Medium from Awwa County. She is a Beyonder of the Death Pathway. She used to belong to the Tingen City division of the Nighthawk before being transferred to the Backlund division due to her high potential.
  • Familiar: As a Gatekeeper she specialized in using contracted spirits to help her.
  • Insecure Love Interest: She was not confident enough to confess her feelings for Dunn Smith because she felt unworthy of him. Klein's told her it was probably the same for him.
  • Necromancer: As a Beyonder of the Death Pathway she has great abilities to communicate with the dead, and fight the undead, wraiths, and other evil spirits.
  • Perky Goth: Even after becoming a Sequence 5, Gatekeeper, she still dresses up as a Spirit Medium to feel closer to Dunn Smith who has passed away.
  • The Villain Must Be Punished: She became obsessed about getting revenge on Ince Zangwill.

     Leonard Mitchell

A former member of the Tingen City division of the Nighthawks with Klein. He is currently housing a parasite, revealed to be Pallez Zoroast, who provides guidance to Leonard after losing most of his power.

Alger Wilson is a Beyonder of the Tyrant Pathway. The Captain of the Blue Avengers that once belonged to the Church of the Lord of Storms. He is one of the first members of the Tarot Club.

Church of the God of Knowledge and Wisdom

     Edwina Edwards

Edwina Edwards, also known as Vice Admiral Iceberg, is one of the seven Pirate Admirals. She is a Captain of the Golden Dream. She's backed by the Church of the God of Knowledge and Wisdom and is a Beyonder of the White Tower Pathway.
  • The Captain / Pirate Girl: At last news she was one of the seven Pirate Admirals with 26,000 pounds bounty.
  • Cool Boat: Her Golden Dream is a sailboat that is tens of metres long, it produced a golden luster from the sunlight reflecting on it. Its gigantic sails drew five types of gold coins which is also the flag of her pirate crew. Along the central axis is the Cannon of Purification, which is a gigantic version of a charm that can only be used ten times before six Priests of Light are needed to hold a ritual and pray to the corresponding deity to fill it up with spirituality again.
  • Friendly Pirate: Her crew only plunder merchant and passenger ships when they're especially poor, and they don’t harm the innocent. Their main focus is on finding treasures at the seas.
  • Hot Teacher: She is beautiful and most, if not all, of her crew love her.
  • Encyclopaedic Knowledge: Whatever you ask, she will be able to give an exhaustive answer, most of the time.
  • Jack of All Trades: The main power of her Pathway come from the Sequence 6, Polymath, it allow them to analyze a Beyonder's ability and if they have enough knowledge and understanding, they could imitate it. Although the imitation is less powerful than the original it allows them to learn multiple abilities and thus deal with multiple situations.
  • Noble Profession: She's a Pirate... a Teacher and she's extremely proud of it. In her honorific name she called herself: "the teacher who pursues knowledge".
  • Omnidisciplinary Scientist: As a Beyonder of the White Tower Pathway she is knowledgeable in both scientific and mysticism fields. She's not just a Book Smart she's also able to make her own theories.
  • Only the Knowledgable May Pass: She is a woman very strict when it come to knowledge and couldn’t stand the sight of a bunch of illiterates under her command, so every day on the Golden Dream, there was a class of general knowledge and reading, and every day she forced the crew to take turns participating.
  • Ritual Magic: As a Beyonder of the White Tower Pathway she is extremely good at ritual magic, some of her rituals come from Emperor Roselle, like the one she used to contact Danitz through dreams.
  • Seeker Archetype: She pursues knowledge as said in her honorific name.
  • Smart Girl: She is good at reasoning, which is also a characteristic of her Pathway, she deduced that Gerhman Sparrow didn't have any bad intention from the little Danitz knew.
  • Stern Teacher: Edwina is fond of teaching and she's fair but strict with her students for their own good, as seen when she decides that it was time for Danitz's holiday to end.
  • Variant Power Copying: Although a Polymath can imitate others' abilities, their imitations are not exactly the same things. For example imitating the power of the Death Pathway didn't allow Edwina to contract a spirit like Klein did with Azik's help. She also imitate the power of an Artisan of the Paragon Pathway but she's not confident about it.

Aurora Order

     Ouroboros

  • Celestial Paragons and Archangels: Ouroboros was one of the 8 Kings of Angels under Ancient Sun God, known as the Angel of Fate.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: He continued to serve his Lord even after he became a monster who had lost most of his power and rationality. According to Will Auceptin, every time Ouroboros is reborn, "He" grows up by the side of the True Creator.
  • Seers: His pathway give him the ability to see the future.
  • Time Abyss: He has lived since the Third Epoch which ended around 2500 years before the current era.
  • Time Master: As a Sequence 1 of the Wheel of Fortune Pathway he can trap others in an endless loop of fated events, and revert an entire region's current state or specific objects within that region to a previous state, invalidating all events that took place before a Reboot.
  • Winds of Destiny, Change!: He has great power over fate, he can bless others with great luck as he did for Botis, or give them misfortune.

     Mr. A 
  • Blood Magic: At Sequence 6, Rose Bishop, he obtained many flesh and blood related powers.
  • Cannibalism Superpower / Soul Eating: As a Shepherds he can swallow another’s Soul and Beyonder characteristics into his body, and use up to three of the captured soul's Beyonder powers.
  • Festering Fungus: Seeing the complete mythical state of the mad Antigonus made his body collapse, he was then eaten alive by Frank's mushrooms.
  • The Fundamentalist: Mr. A has ambition to allow The True Creator to descend onto the land and, cooperating with the Demoness Sect, he planned a large-scale sacrificial ritual in Backlund.

Temperance Faction

     Sharron

  • Action Girl: She is extremely strong and does not hesitate to take on the most dangerous role in a fight.
  • Cute Ghost Girl: The Sequence 5 of her pathway is Wraith, it gives her the ability to turn her body into a real Wraith which give her powers such as Invisibility, Intangibility, Possession...
  • Demolitions Expert: She claims to be a demolition expert, and is skilled in the use of explosives, Klein entrusts her with the task of destroying the entrance of the Tudor-Trunsoest underground ruins in Backlund.
  • Emotionless Girl: Like her master she hardly express any emotion.
  • Hates Being Nicknamed: That's why her master called her: Sharron who doesn’t like nicknames.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Her pathway make her stronger than Beyonder's of most others pathways at the same level.
  • Pacifist: As she said to Arrodes, she thinks the world would be a better if everyone could suppress their desires:
    "If everyone can temper their desires, to not have wars and killing, there will be less misery."
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Although she expresses very little emotion, she is a kind and honest person when you take time to know her.
  • Voodoo Doll: At Sequence 4, she obtained the power to transform into a giant voodoo doll and share all damage she received with her target and reciprocally.
  • Weakened by the Light: Her pathway make her weak against light and lightning element.

City of Silver:

     Derrick Berg
