Quote Swear Unquote only has 36 wicks after being on the wiki for over a decade, and every single correctly used wick also falls under one of either This Is for Emphasis, Bitch! or Precision F-Strike, as shown by Quote Wick Check Unquote. (A couple also overlap with Country Matters).

I also found Wrongfully Attributed, which covers any other use case of this trope. This is a pretty clear-cut case of cut+merge, imo. Nothing unique here.

    Indexes and Descriptions (11/36)
  1. Dialogue
  2. Rule of Funny (with the parenthetical note "at least now it does")
  3. These Tropes Should Watch Their Language
  4. Precision F-Strike: listed for "compare"
  5. Quote Mine: Compare/Contrast Quote Swear Unquote (fiddling with quotes, but not passing them off as accurate). i don't think this note matches up well with the Quote Swear Unquote description as written.
  6. Sophisticated as Hell: Potholed under the phrase "A misattributed quote."
  7. This Is for Emphasis, Bitch!: "can overlap with"
  8. ImageSource.Web Comics
  9. Laconic.Quote Swear Unquote
  10. QuoteSource.Live Action Films
  11. Sandbox.Quote Wick Check Unquote

    Overlaps with another trope (19/36)
  1. Critical Role: One-Shots: While facing off against Cy Tolliver the werewolf in the mines, notable especially because he switches accents halfway through:
  2. Suburban Knights: "My name is Inigo Montoya, motherfukers!" Precision F-Strike
  3. Pretty Cure Side Stories: Yasu: I don't know what movies thou hast been watching, but if thou art going to imitate the leg-crossing scene from Basic Bloody Instinct, at least wear some pants! Precision F-Strike
  4. Die Hard: Hans calls McClane on being a Cowboy Cop, and then the discussion turns to actors playing cowboys. McClane says Roy Rogers is his favorite, takes Rogers' Catchphrase "Yippee-ki-yay", and makes it his own by adding "motherfucker". Precision F-Strike
  5. Die Hard: The Catchphrase of the film came from Mc Clane mentioning Roy Rogers was his favorite movie cowboy, and then taking Roy's Catchphrase and adding swearing to it. Precision F-Strike, duplicate example
  6. Kick-Ass: "Show's over, motherfuckers." Precision F-Strike
  7. Tear Of Grace: In the sixth episode of Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, after Tear realizes he can betray warchiefs, he remarks:
Tear: So in the words of Didi from Dexter's Lab: "The fuck does this button do?".
Precision F-Strike, page may not meet content standards per deprecation of Let's Play namespace
  8. Care-Bear Stare:
"TASTE THE RAINBOW, MOTHERFUCKER!" - The Nostalgia Critic, on The Care Bears Movie
    Precision F-Strike
  9. The Most Popular Girls In School S 04 E 09: Brittnay does this at one point, in which she used the similar quote as exampled on the trope itself but with her own twist on the swear part.
Brittnay: Yippee-ki-yay... you stupid fucking cunt.
    Precision F-Strike, Country Matters
  10. Moke Pon: "Prepare yerselves for fuckin' trouble, faggots!" Precision F-Strike, also gross a slur
  11. The Most Popular Girls In School: Brittnay in Episode 67, in which she used the similar quote as exampled on the trope itself but with her own twist on the swear part.
Brittnay: Yippee-ki-yay... you stupid fucking cunt.
Precision F-Strike, Country Matters, duplicate example
  12. Suburban Knight: Precision F-Strike: Angry Joe's "My Name Is Inigo Montoya, motherfucker!," accompanied by a machine gun. potholed under Precision F-Strike already, duplicate example
  13. Yu Yu Hakusho Abridged: Kurama quoting "Git-er-done, motherfucker." Probably Precision F-Strike, low-context
  14. TheNostalgiaCritic.Tropes O To S:
  15. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby: "Hakuna matata, bitches!" This Is for Emphasis, Bitch!
  16. Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter: "The power of Christ compels you, bitch!" from The Exorcist. This Is for Emphasis, Bitch!
  17. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby: "Hakuna matata, bitches!" from The Lion King (1994). This Is for Emphasis, Bitch!, duplicate example
  18. Elf Only Inn: "Live long, and prosper, bitch," from Star Trek. This Is for Emphasis, Bitch!, commented-out ZCE
  19. YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries.Tropes I To Z: "The cake is a lie, bitch!" from Portal. This Is for Emphasis, Bitch!, commented-out ZCE

    Misuse (4/36)
  1. Tropes I to Z: Claims adding swearing to the lyrics of "You're the Best Around" would make it even better. doesn't demonstrate the trope as written
  2. Newscaster Cameo:
"Once we get to Hollywood and find those Miramax 'expletive-deleted' who are making the Bluntman and Chronic movie, we're gonna make 'em eat our 'expletive-deleted', then 'expletive-deleted', which is made up of our 'expletive-deleted', then eat their 'expletive-deleted', which is made up of our 'expletive-deleted' that we made 'em eat. Unquote."
single-word wick, trope isn't actually about using "quote/unquote"
  3. SF Debris - Star Trek Movies: Even more from the same review:
Chuck: Spock also wonders about Kirk's own behavior.
    Spock: Double dumbass on you?
misuse, as it's not a corruption of an existing quote
  4. International Moron Patrol: Bustin has the tendency to say the "maternal-copulation-word"... A LOT. doesn't demonstrate the trope as written

    Unsortable (2/36)
  1. Juron Chirurgical: i do not speak french
    • I speak some. It's roughly "see also Quote Swear Unquote", and the page is the French version of Precision F-Strike.
  2. Elenco Provvisorio Q: i also do not speak italian but this page looks substandard

Not entirely confident it's redundant with Precision F-Strike, which was recently remade into Breaking Point Swearing, so that argument is now even worse.

I see the trope playing two ways:

  1. This Is for Emphasis, Bitch!
  2. A vulgar version of Borrowed Catchphrase / Parrot Exposition

Examples of the first one can be moved over, but wonder if the second one could be own thing.

We overturned the decision to retool Precision F-Strike into Breaking Point Swearing after the problems with that name were pointed out, but I think we can handle this independently of that thread. The lack of wicks makes me think we can redirect to These Tropes Should Watch Their Language and move any examples that fit other tropes elsewhere.

[up] Agree with redirecting. I'd normally say "disambig", but there aren't a whole ton of wicks so I think a redirect would work better.

Hooked a crowner because there's already a decent amount of support for redirecting, but not enough votes.
