  1. Recap.Destiny 2 Season Of The Deep: While there was no central villain for the Shadow Legion in Season of Defiance, Calus represented them for the Lightfall campaign and he was Faux Affably Evil who previously liked to view himself as a Friendly Enemy to the Vanguard. In this season, Xivu Arath, the Hive God of War, makes her first voiced presence in the game and quickly separates herself from almost all other Destiny villains with her violent screaming, promising to inflict untold pain upon us for getting in her way.
  2. Film.Escape Plan The Extractors: Jaspar Kimbral was a sadistic warden who targeted criminals and innocents alike, and he wanted revenge on Breslin for an incredibly petty reason that was entirely his fault. Here, Lester Clark Jr. only imprisons actual criminals, and all the innocents he harmed were collateral damage in his quest for revenge against Breslin and Zhang—a quest he began because Breslin and his team were solely responsible for getting Clark Jr.'s father shipped out of the country in the first film.
  3. Characters.Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Strikers Antagonists: Towards Precia. Aside from the obvious gender differences, Precia was terminally ill, capable of nuking a spaceship while in another dimension, relied on magic, had a small family, and was abusive to her daughter. Jail was a perfectly healthy man without any magical power, relied on science, had twelve daughters, and loved all of them. Not to mention their contrasting wardrobes.
  4. Characters.Wii Funkin: Matt is a Scary Black Man known for his fast, note heavy songs and is based on a Memetic Badass of an official Mii from Wii Sports. Eteled is a white Mii from a creepypasta based on the Mii Channel itself and has fairly low BPM songs, though with fairly high Scroll speeds ranging from 2.2 to 2.8. Additionally, Eteled is eventually hijacked by Austin while Matt stays as the opponent throughout all his weeks.
  5. Characters.Total Drama Waneyihtam Maskwak: Sugar's very unique when compared to her predecessors. Most of the other villains were played seriously with an occasional moment of humor, while Sugar is used as comic relief the majority of the time with an occasional moment of seriousness and remains Laughably Evil even when she officially takes over as the Big Bad. She's also the least 'clever' villain with the majority of her predecessors being skilled Manipulative Bastards and chessmasters, while Sugar only boasts a bit of scheming here and there, with her making it far mostly due to dumb luck with little influence on her part.
  6. Characters.Final Fantasy VII Other Antagonists: Sephiroth was a world-famous Fallen Hero with a BFS, while Kadaj is a nobody with a smaller, double-bladed sword. Sephiroth worked largely alone and through his control over Jenova, while Kadaj works with his independent "brothers". Finally, while Sephiroth will always be Cloud's Arch-Enemy, he ultimately ends up with the hero's pity.
  7. Characters.Killzone: ContrastingSeq…
  8. Characters.Seven Mysteries: Or Contrasting Remake Antagonist in this case. In the original, Sang and the Headmaster were fully human killers who were motivated by bloodlust and a desire to keep the school's reputation intact, respectively, and indirectly caused the curse of the school. The demon is, well, a demon who directly caused the curse and is much more of a supernatural threat.
  9. Characters.Bazil Broketail: The general of the Padmasan armies in book three — General Lukash — was pointlessly cruel, an incompetent leader, treating the entire campaign as a chance at venting his personal frustrations on the world and killing people for fun. General Kreegsbrok, on the other hand, is a professional who remains focused on his job and never does anything without a purpose.
  10. Characters.MCU Dimensions: To Talbot, the Final Boss of Season 5. Talbot was an Empowered Badass Normal Knight Templar, while Izel is a Humanoid Abomination with nothing remotely resembling noble motives.

  13. Characters.Blade Runner Corporations: Like Wallace, she strongly contrasts Roy Batty; physical differences aside (Roy was a blond man, Luv is a dark-haired woman), Roy was very much his own man, even killing his own creator, while Luv is Wallace's loyal Dragon. She also lacks Roy's philosophical nature and emotional attachments, proving to be more of a blunt instrument and sadistic killing machine.
  14. Characters.Criminal Minds Un Subs: He's an international terrorist and criminal mastermind rather than a typical pathological serial killer.
  15. Pantheon.Reclusiveness: Other Jojo arc villains tend to ignore him. One exception, and perhaps the only Jojo deity that comes close to a friend, is Yoshikage Kira. Many were surprised that they get along since Kira is a lot more grounded and normal, but the two found they share a key desire in common; to have a peaceful and quiet life. A deal was made that Kira would use Killer Queen to set bombs on anyone who comes close to exposing Diavolo, and Diavolo would help Kira's life be quiet. When it was pointed out to them neither deserve a quiet life, Kira scoffed while Diavolo simply said nothing.
  16. Characters.Pretty Cure All Stars: To Akudaikahn from Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash★Star. Both are creations of the real Big Bad and are the supposed leaders of their organization. Unlike Akudaikahn who was created by Gooyan for his goals of destroying the universe, Arc was only created by Preme as part of her plan under the pretence of "defeating" it so she can learn what it means to be a Cure.
  17. Characters.Need For Speed The Run: More like Contrasting Reformulated Game Antagonist. While he does share some traits with Marcus Blackwell, namely being an antagonist who singles out the protagonist and tries to kill him, while Marcus was basically a mob enforcer with no redeeming traits who ends up killed at the end of The Run, the Rival is given a sympathetic backstory, makes amends with Matt, and even helps him against the Mob, and ends up surviving the game.
  18. Characters.Urrezko Kaiola Lehiakide: Lance was an Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain who wasn't that committed to stopping the player and mostly did it out of a sense of purpose, whereas Lehiakide is much more powerful and personally determined to fight the protagonists.
  19. Characters.Dragon Ball Red Ribbon Army: Unlike the previous villains who are intelligent enough to be master manipulators, Cell Max the first and only main villain who is a mindless monster because of his premature awakening.
  20. Characters.Choujin Bibyun: They're very different from the Akuma Clan from Akumaizer 3. Whereas the Akuma Clan were a militarized and strictly hierarchal society, the Youkai have only a loose organization at best and all act independent of one another. The Akuma Clan also used a combination of technology and magic, while the Youkai are evil spirits whose abilities are purely supernatural.
  21. Characters.Highschool Dragon: Unlike the heads of the Legion of Doom who were Knights Of Cerebus, Storm King is not. He may be dangerous warlord but he’s very childish and tend to make jokes. Even Bahamut doesn’t take him seriously compared to Spike and the girls' previous adversaries and calls him a buffoon.
  22. Characters.Command And Conquer Red Alert 3: Ackerman is this to Dugan in Red Alert 2. While seemingly just as personable, charismatic and even more gung-ho than his predecessor, Ackerman is also considerably more abrasive and obsessed with securing American supremacy by any means. And unlike Dugan, who at one point is involuntarily brainwashed by the Soviets, Ackerman is implied to have been a robotic mole for the Empire from the get-go.
  23. Characters.Space Jam A New Legacy: Reptiles Are Abhorrent: She is a rather beautiful and mean snake woman who is a member of The Goon Squad basketball team.
  24. Characters.Destroy All Humans: Majestic, despite their own agenda of world domination, were still an organization with the end goal of keeping humanity safe from extraterrestrials, as well as keeping their master plan limited to only the United States. The KGB, meanwhile, operate on a global scale and fully intend to take over the world, innocent lives be damned, while also eliminating the Furons and their DNA harvesting scheme. They're also working under aliens themselves without knowing.
  25. Characters.Dont Hug Me Im Scared: Unlike Roy, who is a puppet with an off-putting demeanor and is Yellow Guy's father, Lesley is a live-action human with a kindly personality and seems to position herself as a mother figure to Yellow Guy. She also appears to be genuinely interested in teaching Yellow Guy, as opposed to Roy, who only wanted to punish him.
  26. Characters.A New Hope Danganronpa Classes: Whereas Ringo merely served as a lone wolf not in league with the Mastermind, Dylan is the attack dog of the mastermind.
  27. Characters.Drawga Other Non Player Characters: He's about as far from Don Juan as one can get. Whereas Juan was a Jerkass has-been with Entitled to Have You-issues, Mooshy is a popular celebrity who turns out to be Good All Along. After losing all respect for the former, the Ladies Book Club gain a lot of respect for the latter.
  28. Characters. The Review Team Hell Inhabitants: Keep in mind, he's the second foe the Review Team faces after the really easy Voodoo Justin incident.

  30. Pantheon.Other Dimensions: Portfolio: One of the Most Formidable Adversaries In the Series Thus Far, Dimensional Hopping, President Evil of an Alternate History, Dignified and Honorable, Weaponizing Misfortune, Up the Real Rabbit Hole, Eagleland, and Teleportation, Ultimately Doing What He Thinks Is Necessary for the Betterment of His Country (debatably), Fat Bastard That Slims Down (not that he wasn't pretty before), Attempted Rape, Light Is Not Good, Moral Myopia, Destroys People By Having Them Meet Their Counterparts, Popular Despite His Villainy, Immortal Life Is Cheap, Continuing is Painful, Contrasting Sequel Antagonist
  31. Characters. The Wrong Way To Use Healing Magic: The Wicked Dragon was fully in control of his powers and actions and took outright joy at the prospect of harming others. By contrast, Karon isn't in control of his powers and truly did want to do good for the kingdom before he went berserk. He also contrasts the rest of the antagonists for truly being a force of good before going berserk.
  32. Characters. The King Of Fighters 2000: To Krizalid. Krizalid is an Anti-Villain, a decent boss to his underlings, has a Morality Pet in Whip, is quite handsome, and has a Fallen Angel motif both visually and in the name of his battle track "Dear Falling Angel". In contrast, Clone Zero is a Hate Sink with no redeeming qualities, is a Bad Boss who killed Krizalid for failing him, he performs a massive Kick the Dog on Whip before he dies, looks rather ordinary, and has a devil motif, with his pre-battle theme being called "Devil".
  33. Characters.Elena Of Avalor Villains: To Vor. Like her, they serve as the Final Boss and pose a great threat to the entire EverRealm. In particular, Cahu is especially reminiscent of her, manipulating Esteban and using him for her own purposes just as Vor did to Prisma, as well as the last of the Shades to be defeated. However, while Vor works alone save for a bit of help from her pets Twitch and Wormwood, the Shades are a team. They (except Cahu) are also much more Laughably Evil than she.
  34. Characters.Ninjago Villains: The Stone Army was a force of ancient stone soldiers given life through supernatural means who used brute strength and durability to overwhelm their opponents. The Nindroids are ultra-hi-tech robotic warriors manufactured from the most state of the art technology who utilize martial arts and various other abilities like Eye Beams and a built-in Invisibility Cloak to give them an edge in combat.
  35. Characters.Steven Universe Blue Diamonds Court: To Jasper. While Jasper relied on brute force, Aquamarine is physically weak but cunning and she relies on her tractor beams to immobilize enemies.
  36. Characters.Mass Effect Race Tropes Native Andromeda Races: To the Reapers. They're essentially an organic version of the Reapers with more human personalities and driven by the desire to exalt the worthy rather than preserve all life in starship form. They also reverse the Reapers' prejudice; while Reapers saw organic races as imperfect "accidents" that needed to be roboticized in order to be useful, the kett value genetic traits and dismiss symbiotic and synthetic traits.
  37. Characters. The Matrix Machines: Smith, Brown, and Jones were different sizes to make them seem more like individuals than triplets and were designed to blend in, engaged targets at a distance via foot chases and shootouts, and used more complex tactics (Brown and Jones chasing Neo to a point where Smith could ambush him). This trio is all roughly the same size and significantly larger, engage in more close-quarters combat, and are implacable to the point of suicidal, as shown when Johnson and Thompson crash semi-trucks into each other and Thompson leaps out a window to kill Trinity.
  38. Characters.Kamen Rider Ex Aid Others: Appears to be a self-controlled version of Tenjuro Banno, considering both fulfill a similar role in story as both of them manipulated their own respective sons, exploited a race of artificially intelligent beings and hijack the plot in the endgame. The difference being that while Banno spends most of his show disconnected from the main plot, Masamune was secretly pulling the strings for most of Ex-Aid. He's also the Final Boss, whereas Banno gets dealt with prior to the finale and his creation serves as the Final Boss in his stead.
  39. WesternAnimation. The Land Before Time III The Time Of The Great Giving: The Sharpteeth in this film aren't one or two huge T rexes but rather a group of "Fast-Biters", which are less of a threat individually but quite dangerous in a group.
  40. Literature. The Illuminae Files: In the first book, it's the Lincoln and the people who were infected by Phobos. In the second book, it's the lamina and the BeiTech team, and in the last book, the main villains are the people on Churchill and Magellan.
  41. Characters.Green Lantern Hal Jordan: As Parallax, Hal is this to the Anti-Monitor. Both are immensely powerful figures who sought to destroy the multiverse and presented themselves as a grave threat to the heroes. Despite having the same goals, their reasons and motivations are diametrically different; the Anti-Monitor seeks to reduce the world until only antimatter remains for him to lord over and is largely impersonal to everyone else. Parallax is a Fallen Hero who was well-known by his peers and, after destroying the multiverse, wanted to create a universe where he and his loved ones and friends had joyous lives and always won against their adversaries.
  42. Characters.Digimon Ghost Game Other Characters: To the various versions of Yggdrasil. Like them, she's a computer-like being overseeing the Digital World and genuinely cares about her subjects. She's also limited by her overly logical nature and projections. However, unlike Yggdrasil, she never shows any malice towards humanity and would love nothing more than to see them and Digimon live in peace and harmony. Also unlike him, she's fully aware of her own Blue-and-Orange Morality and the fact it makes her predictions flawed, so her entire plan revolves around researching and gaining a better understanding of it for the benefit of both sides.
  43. Characters.Boris 2007: To Dr. Cane from the original seasons. He's the old, severe director of a traditional TV network, he ensures that their productions respect the country's varied political interests, and his face is never seen on screen until the very end of season 3. She's a nice middle-age regional manager of a streaming platform, her only interest is the Platform's commercial success worldwide, and she appears in full view in the very first scene of season 4.
  44. Characters.Steins Gate: Chaos;Head's main antagonist Norose Genichi was a powerful CEO who rebelled against the Committee of 300 and created a Lotus-Eater Machine that would've freed the world from suffering and strife, but also willingly killed hundreds of innocent people and mentally scarred many people to achieve this. Yuugo is a local leader of a squad of Private Military Contractors who is Affably Evil, genuinely cares about his daughter, does not cause nearly as much death and destruction, freely admits he is just a low-level cog in the machine, and is generally an Anti-Villain.
  45. Characters.Rambo First Blood Part II: Contrast between backwater sheriff of a somewhat three-dimensional Well-Intentioned Extremist Tragic Villain and a Soviet senior officer of a one-note villainous caricature is pretty noticeable.
  46. WesternAnimation.Big Hero 6 The Series: Callaghan was a good man corrupted by his desire for revenge and to save his daughter. Obake is an out-and-out evil Visionary Villain and tech genius who wants to destroy San Fransokyo so he can be remembered forever. Liv Amara is another Well-Intentioned Extremist who prefers to use genetic engineering in her plans. Chief Cruz is a Badass Normal Hero Antagonist. And Trina is a Shadow Archetype who wants to make her daddy proud. Finally, Noodle Burger Boy is a reprogrammed robot who wants to cause trouble against humans with a robot family.
  47. Characters.Bravely Default II: He is this to Qada, who was the Salve-Maker Asterisk in the original game and quite overeager about using his talents to create deadly concoctions.
  48. Characters.Monster Verse Rodan: To Hokmuto. Both are secondary aerial antagonists, but while Hokmuto was forming a Battle Couple with Femuto, Rodan was beaten into submission by Ghidorah and became its Dragon. Hokmuto is insectoid creature with mammalian characteristics, while Rodan is a Terror-dactyl resembling birds of prey more than pterosaurs. Hokmuto is never shown as sadistic and is merely following his natural instincts of continuing his species, while Rodan is a vicious Blood Knight who's clearly enjoying himself more than he needs to while defending his territory against Monarch's jets.
  49. Characters.Danganronpa Antebellum: While happy to set up a killing game, Mononeko doesn't seem interested in inflicting despair on the participants. Rather, he seems to want them all to find atonement even when faced with a killing game. Of course, he's also pretty ruthless when it comes to his methods. He also refers to himself as their doctor rather than their headmaster.
  50. Characters.Wonder Woman Rogues Gallery M To Z: Cale is a CSA to Priscilla Rich the original Cheetah. Both are rich and famous women who are Driven by Envy of Diana's fame to become her enemy and both do so without any super powers. However, while Priscilla was shown to be a severely mentally ill woman whose actions were brought about by how society pitted women against each other, Cale was simply a petty, cynical Jerkass who simply hated Wonder Woman for daring to be more accepted than her.
  51. Characters. The Legend Of Zelda Links Awakening: Ganon was a mortal, if a cunning and dangerous one, while DethI is a true Eldritch Abomination. Ganon had full control over his avatar Agahnim and by extension the possessed soldiers, while DethI is content to let the other Nightmares and monsters do as they please. While Ganon was forced into the form of a demon boar, DethI has full control over its powers and can take on forms picked from Link's own mind. Finally, while both Ganon and DethI's defeats end up destroying a plane of existence, DethI's demise has a more somber feel to it.
  52. Characters.Hoodwinked: To Boingo. While they and Boingo basically had the same evil plan, to sell goodies, they went about it in different ways. Boingo just wanted to destroy homes and businesses to expand his goodie empire while Hansel and Gretel planned to sell off the magic truffles to other villains and had world-domination plans.
  53. Characters.Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs: To the Mayor from the first movie. Mayor Shelbourne was a politician who uses Flint's invention for his own gluttony and social status while Chester is a businessman who uses Flint's invention to improve his business. Shelbourne endangers the world with Flint's invention while Chester endangers the island.
  54. Characters.Chainsaw Man Other Characters: She plays a similar narrative role to the Yakuza gang in Part One, betraying the protagonist with a Devil contract to prompt their transformation into a hybrid. However, the Yakuza are openly contemptuous of Denji, constantly belittling and mocking him even as he serves them faithfully. The Class Prez, on the other hand, kept her vile nature hidden and acted like a genuine friend to Asa before turning on her.
  55. WesternAnimation.Incredibles 2: In the first film, Syndrome was bombastic, desperate to be the center of attention, and had a borderline Bond-villain-like organization. Screenslaver, the antagonist of this film, is quieter and has a lower profile than Syndrome. Their motivations contrast significantly as well; Syndrome wishes to make everyone super so actual supers are no longer exceptional, while Evelyn wants supers to go back into hiding so that mankind will stop relying on them.
  56. Characters.Dragalia Lost NP Cs: To Elua. Elua genuinely loved Chelle and didn't seek to cause her any harm to the point where he was most accepting of his defeat despite knowing he would die and comes off as Affably Evil when he is revealed to be a villain. Yelda, on the other hand, only pretended to grow close with Chelle with intent on killing her out of vengeance for Elua and to claim hold of Chelle's manacasters for Grams, she drops most of her friendliness the moment she reveals herself as the antagonist, and she appeared to be a bit more reluctant in accepting the terms Chelle set following her defeat.
  57. Characters.Logic And Trickster: Facade Actors to Palace Rulers and Jailer Monarchs. Actors' behavior is controlled by somebody else, implied to be lured in, while the other two groups act in accordance to their hearts. On the other hand, Monarchs also are victims in the sense how they unwittingly gain Jails, which prey on their trauma.
  58. Characters.Arrowverse Slade Wilson: Malcolm Merlyn was a corrupted individual out to destroy Starling city, who is one of the many Oliver is hunting down. Slade is from Oliver's past, who has a personal vendetta against Oliver and is out to destroy the city because of Oliver, wanting to get revenge. Also, while Malcolm was a highly trained Badass Normal, Slade is a superhuman who is out of Oliver's league. In contrast to all of the current Arrow Big Bad's, Slade is the only one to be the main antagonist of both the flashback and present day arcs for a season. Finally Slade is thus far the only Arrow Big Bad to not be connected in anyway with the League of Assassins.
  59. Characters.OKKO Lets Be Heroes Box More: Compared to Boxman's crippling obsession with the Plaza and terrible treatment of his kin, Darrell seems far more willing to leave it alone (if still occasionally attacking it after seeing Boxman again) and also created an overall better workplace for his family and workers.
  60. Characters.Five Nights At Freddys Sixth Generation: Fittingly, to Springtrap. Both are sealed in a suit in some way; William Afton was killed inside of Springtrap, and the Puppet was already undead and haunted by the time it was sealed in Lefty. On top of this, they have borderline opposite motives. Springtrap wants to kill innocents, Lefty wants to protect them.
  61. Characters.Shrek Antagonists: Lord Farquaad was widely despised even by his own citizens and fairly normal compared to the various fairy tale creatures he was exiling. The Fairy Godmother is herself a fairy tale creature, with the magical powers that come with it, and is originally well-loved by the populace. Also, while Farquaad was basically an Upper-Class Twit whose only real strengths were his wealth and political influence, the Fairy Godmother is genuinely manipulative and clever, and quite possibly the most powerful character in the series.
  62. Literature.Vampirismus: As the story was originally paired up with a summarized version of The Vampyre, Aurelia serves as this to Lord Ruthven, who was an Idle Rich, straight-up evil vampire with no qualms about murder. Aurelia on the other hand is more of a Broken Bird who hates her condition, only turning aggressive when overpowered by her vampiric urges. Ruthven also got away scot-free, whereas Aurelia "gives up the ghost" at the end.
  63. WesternAnimation. The Intruder III: Despite the title, the "good" old Blob Monster doesn't return for a Rule of Three. Instead, TOM now faces giant Sand Worms who are Good All Along and trying to warn him and his crew about the real threat: an impending Earth-Shattering Kaboom.
  64. Characters. The Vexations Of A Shut In Vampire Princess: To Millicent. Both are blue-haired members of Inverse Moon who joined due to incidents involving their families, but from there they're all differences. Sakuna is White Magician Girl while Milicent Magic Knight Psycho Knife Nut. Sakuna is demure and soft spoken, while Millicent is a Large Ham Jerkass prone to Evil Laughter. Sakuna was Forced into Evil when her family was targeted by Inverse Moon, while Millicent joined after getting disowned by hers. Sakuna admires Komari and feels immense guilt from having to target her, while Millicent hates her for her role in her past and takes sadistic pleasure in tormenting her. Ironically, the two are actually friends.
  65. Characters.Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam Titans: As explained above, Jerid's role in the story is very much like Char's from the previous series. Where they contrast is their personality. While Char is determined to beat Amuro in combat, he never allows his rivalry to distract him from his other ambitions plotting revenge against the Zabi Family. He is something of a Chessmaster who uses battles, even losing ones, to further his agenda. Jerid meanwhile is a hothead who's rivalry with Kamille turns into a full-blown obsession.
  66. Film. The Magnificent Seven 2016: Well, remake antagonist - Calvera from the original was an Affably Evil bandito who's friendly towards the Seven when he isn't kicking their asses. Bogue, on the other hand, is a sinister robber baron who doesn't even pretend to be friendly at all. There's also the added contrast that Calvera was a regular (if rather sharp) bandito, while Bogue is a tyrannical tycoon, putting them at opposite ends of the social scale.
  67. Characters.Dengeki Sentai Changeman: The Gear Empire from Choudenshi Bioman were a terrestrial-based society of robots, while the Gozma are a league of various extra-terrestrials from space. The Gear also didn't control much territory outside of their home base, while the Gozma already have numerous planets in their fold before coming to Earth.
  68. Characters.Tak And The Power Of Juju: While Travis lusts for the Moon Juju like Tlaloc, he is a corrupt juju who has been placed under house arrest and is known for cheating.
  69. Characters.Dragon Ball Goku Black: Black doesn't follow the typical formula for Dragon Ball antagonists. Unlike most villains who have quickly discerned backgrounds and simple motives like wanting to rule the world/universe or grow stronger, no one knows anything about him or where he comes from, until The Reveal. What was known was that he hates mortals and thinks getting rid of them will create a paradise. This makes him a narcissistic Knight Templar, which no other Arc Villain has been before.
  70. Characters.Chicken Run: They are basically the second film's replacement of the guard dogs from the original, except they are both human and are in greater numbers.
  71. Characters.Jackie Chan Adventures Oni And Shadowkhan: While the other villainous groups were prone to infighting and mistreating their workers, Tarakudo has a much more professional relationship with his generals and is fairly patient with the Enforcers, even explaining what Oni Masks' Shadowkhan do what. He's also much less formal, with a greater sense of humor.
  72. Characters. My Hero Academia Movie Characters: To Wolfram from the previous movie. Wolfram was a mercenary with no motivation beyond his own profit, while Nine is an idealist with a specific goal. Both Wolfram and Nine also sought to increase their power artificially, but where Wolfram was after a tool to amplify his original Quirk, Nine seeks to gain entirely new Quirks.
  73. Literature. The Alloy Of Law: The Vanishers are this to the Final Empire. Where the Empire had massive amounts of manpower and resources, the Vanishers are a single bandit group, albeit one backed by a rich conspiracy. The difficulty in fighting the Empire was splitting up the armies, but the difficulty in fighting the Vanishers is finding where they are. Perhaps the most apparent contrast is when Wax, Wayne, and Marasi kill or capture around thirty Vanishers during the wedding robbery; the Vanishers are on their last legs and can't just send reinforcements.
  74. Characters.Invader Zim A Very Tall Problem: To Red and Purple. Like her two predecessors, Medea is a Tallest who rules the Irken Empire. Whereas Red and Purple were male Non-Action Big Bads who showed little interest in actually leading their empire, the teaser shows off Medea as a Dark Action Girl who isn't afraid of getting her own hands dirty. Also, the original show didn't treat Red and Purple all too seriously; most of the duo's scenes had them lounging around eating snacks and acting like childish bullies bossing around a gang of younger kids. Medea, by contrast, is built up by promotional material as a menacing villain with none of the cartoonish Laughably Evil traits that Red and Purple had.
  75. VideoGame.Resident Evil 4: The villain is not a genetically engineered monster but an unearthed parasite queen of Las Plagas that has possessed Saddler. This contrasts the modus operandi of Wesker with the T-Virus in the previous games.
  76. Characters.Futari Wa Pretty Cure: To her immediate predecessor Regine, who are both red-themed villains and are the only female member of their group. Regine has white curly hair who wears a tight-fitting red suit. Viblis has short yellow-orange hair and wears more clothing. While Regine, in her true form, is notably confident and sinister who is serious when she talks, Viblis is extremely short-tempered and can be triggered by anything, often causing trouble towards her team members.
  77. Characters.Borderlands Dahl: Vincent and Eleanor ultimately just want to reunite with each other, while Tyreen was willing to sacrifice her family to reach her goals. They're also an older couple compared to the younger Calypso twins.
  78. Anime.High School Fleet: On a more Contrasting Sequel Antagonist route, the Pirate Leader in the movie is a violent, merciless leader of his Pirate crew, who has plans to capture a decommissioned seafort (at least that's what it was purported) by using Susan Reyes, so that he would target countless maritime cities in Japan with it for his bloodlust.
  79. Characters.Urrezko Kaiola Antagonists: Lance and Lehiakide were both anti-villains and weren't terribly malicious or effectual. In addition, he has no physical power to speak of, while the previous two relied mostly on their stats.
  80. VideoGame.Super Smash Bros Melee: The game introduces two new bosses; Crazy Hand and Giga Bowser. Crazy Hand is the opposite of Master Hand (who symbolizes creation), being chaotic and destructive as opposed to careful and creative, but despite their differences the two hands make a pretty effective team. Giga Bowser is a powered-up transformation of Bowser unique to the Super Smash Bros. series who serves as the game's ultimate challenge, only appearing when certain conditions are met.
  81. Characters.Fatal Frame II: Kirie was a fearsome presence in the original game, but she was a quiet ghost that preferred to let her curse claim the lives of those who wandered into her mansion. Sae, meanwhile, is a laughing psychopath that actively hunts down wanderers to sic the Kusabi onto.
  82. Characters.Animator Vs Animation Adversaries: To pretty much every single villain that came before him: he's way too strong for the Stick Gang to fight him, much less defeat him, and he has actual goals which are very, very threatening.
  83. Characters. The Hunters: Played with. He's actually quite similar to Leif from the previous film, but there is one thing that is different between them: Leif kills himself by killing himself, but also burning down the family legacy house that every member of the family has lived in, thus dying in disgrace. Torsten, on the other hand, committs suicide after he realizes that what he has been doing has been wrong all along, and thus dying in honor.
  84. Characters.Le Visiteur Du Futur: With Raul Lombardi. Whereas Raul was only trying to protect his siblings, rude, but honourable, smart enough to create a quantum disturbance detector, and Had to Be Sharp, Joseph is falsely nice and an Opportunistic Bastard, only acts out of self-interest, and uses his money to give himself power.
  85. Characters.DCEU Wonder Womans Rogues Gallery: For Wonder Woman (2017): Barbara takes over from Doctor Poison as the intellectual Dragon-in-Chief who in empowered by a malicious god. For Birds of Prey (2020): Barbara is a blonde who lacks empathy, envies a heroic character and is implied to harbor a same-sex attraction, much like Victor Zsasz. The difference being that Barbara was pushed into villainy without realising it while Zsasz willingly became a villain.
  86. Characters.Rangers Apprentice: He's Affably Evil, markedly different from Morgarath and the Temujai. In fact, he's the only villain in the whole series who actually seems to have any respect for his followers.
  87. Characters.Ohsama Sentai King Ohger Underground Empire Bognaarok: The Hitotsu-ki were formed from ordinary humans corrupted by their own desires — which if strong enough could allow them to assume giant form, while the Kaijim are created by Kamejim, and assume giant form via ingesting an unknown substance.
  88. Characters.Schmigadoon: Compared to Mildred Leyton of season one. Both are dour and puritanical control freaks with sordid secrets. Where Mildred was a busybody trying to gain influence and soft power, Kratt is an outright oligarch who uses financial monopolies to control the entire city, including the police. Whereas the citizens of Schmigadoon were naieve and easy to manipulate, the viceful Schmicagoans are completely aware of Kratt's corruption and are either complicit or ineffectual at stopping it.
  89. VideoGame.Thing Thing: Poseidon and Zeus both contrast Project 153. While the former two are mostly Flat Characters with no personality to speak of, the latter is much more talkative and even egotistical, bearing a personal grudge against Project 154 for his choice to abandon Systems Corp. and a view that he should have embraced his purpose.
  90. VideoGame. The Blueballs Incident: Smiler is deeply remorseful for what he has done, attacked out of pure delusions, ultimately manages to be saved, and keeps both Boyfriend and Girlfriend calm (even if the latter was a bit scared during some parts of "Incident") Stairway is a sadist who caused the Stairway to Heaven Incident For the Evulz, doesn't show any signs of being saved and visibly pissed off Boyfriend and Girlfriend.
  91. WMG.Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger: The villains would be adapted into a renegade faction of the Order of the Claw that wants to elevate humanity to new heights at the cost of destroying nature. This would make them Contrasting Sequel Antagonist that are more or less fully human and want to help humanity rather then destroy or conquer the rest.
  92. Characters.Luigis Mansion King Boo: To Bowser in the mainline series. Bowser is an evil tyrant with an enormous ego and hatred for Mario, but his devotion to his minions, deep love and care for his son, and his genuine love for Peach balance out his villainy and prevent him from becoming irredeemable. King Boo however, deems his minions as useless fodder, doesn't care even for his closest partner Hellen Gravely, and is so bent on vengeance he has no problem trying to destroy the universe in an attempt to kill Luigi: a truly monstrous nemesis driven not by power, but spite.
  93. Characters.Wander Over Yonder: Unlike Hater, she's female, extremely competent, doesn't get easily distracted, has no interest in romance, finds dueling with others fun rather than obnoxious, and rather than simply wanting to conquer the universe, she plans to go from galaxy-to-galaxy, stripping each one completely of Volcanium until they're all dead.
  94. Characters. My Little Pony Generation 5: While both she and Sprout are Earth Pony antagonists who oppose the unity of the three tribes in some manner, the way they go about it is noticeably different. While Sprout seemed at least partially in it for power, through his rapid rise to "Emperor", Posey never seeks any higher office and instead is mostly content to just complain instead of taking direct action. Posey also displays only minimal Fantastic Racism and doesn't want to go to war with the other tribes, her main issue is with their usage of magic. Unlike Sprout, Posey has a Jerkass Realization and apologizes to the Mane Five at the end.
  95. VideoGame.Land Of Illusion: The Phantom serves as this to Mizrabel from Castle of Illusion. While both characters are Disney villains under different names and use magic spells in the battles against them, their motives are different; Mizrabel captured Minnie out of jealousy of her beauty and popularity, whereas the Phantom stole the magical crystal and used its power to turn Mickey's friends into his henchmen to serve his evil purposes.
  96. Characters.Guacamelee: Unlike Carlos Calaca, he's a luchador, making him a straightforward Evil Counterpart to Juan. His seriousness is also much more of a façade, and he often breaks it when he doesn't think anybody is listening or when he's trying to unconvincingly hide his Incurable Cough of Death.
  97. Characters.Dave And Bambi Golden Apple Edition: Dave, Bambi, and Expunged end up losing it in the mod's continuity and all turn on Boyfriend unprovoked for their own nefarious ends. The natives, on the other hand, really just want to have fun.
  98. Animation. The Elm Chanted Forest: Emperor Spine is a goofy and loud mouthed tyrant who relies on technology and is associated with dry heat, Czar Mrazomor is a much more serious and restrained overlord who uses magic (although some of it is like magitech, see below example) and is associated with bitter coldness. Also the former finds redemption whilst the latter does not.
  99. TheOneWith.Video Games: Wonderland Adventures series: Wonderland Adventures: The one with the Rainbow Shards. Mysteries of Fire Island: The one with the Ice Trolls and glyphs. Planet of the Z-Bots: The one with the Alien Invasion and interplanetary travel. Alternatively, the one with the series' only truly evil main antagonist.
  100. Characters.Teen Titans 2003 Enemies: Slade and Brother Blood were both human, with the former's goal involving finding an apprentice, and the latter generally sought after power. Trigon is a literal demon, being far outside the power scale of almost every other character in the series, and unlike Slade and Brother Blood, lacks any sort of sense of humor.
