  • Kid-Appeal Character: He's roughly a year younger than his teammates, and is slightly more naive and immature than them.

  • Action Girl: Though she skirts being a Faux Action Girl often. Youkai

    In General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yokai_corps_logo.jpg
Japanese mythological Youkai who've mysteriously begun popping up and terrorizing humans.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: They're very different from the Akuma Clan from Akumaizer 3. Whereas the Akuma Clan were a militarized and strictly hierarchal society, the Youkai have only a loose organization at best and all act independent of one another. The Akuma Clan also used a combination of technology and magic, while the Youkai are evil spirits whose abilities are purely supernatural.
  • Monster of the Week: A different Youkai pops up each week to cause trouble, necessitating the Choujins to go and stop them.
  • Mook Maker: Each Youkai in this series has the power to spawn Yoki whenever a horde of disposable combatants is needed.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Many have little compunction about targeting children.
  • Vile Villain, Saccharine Show: While Bibyun is overall a light-hearted show, quite a few Youkai could be really nasty, particularly the ones that went after children.
  • Youkai: Exactly What It Says on the Tin. Most being based on Youkai from folklore.
    Shindo & Birin

Shindo & Birin

Portrayed by: Masashi Amenomori (Shindo, voice), Shun Yashiro (Birin, voice)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shindo_and_birin.jpg
A pair of Youkai who form a "Youkai Patrol" that initially gets in the way of the Choujins, until they change sides and start assisting them.
  • Bumbling Henchmen Duo: A duo of goofy Youkai henchmen.
  • Gentle Giant: Shindo is quite big, but also very sensitive and not very evil.
  • Harmless Villain: The most they did while villainous was annoy the Choujins when they're trying to stop a Youkai.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: They may be aligned with the Youkai, but they aren't evil at all and are rarely more than a minor nuisance to the Choujins. They soon turn good and begin assisting the Choujins in combating Youkai.
  • Shoo Out the Clowns: Shindo's death at the Great Demon King's hand marks the point where the series loses its Lighter and Softer feel.
    Great Demon King Gulver

Great Demon King

  • Decoy Leader: He turns out to be a decoy for the real Gulver.
  • The Dragon: He acts as Gulver's stand-in and main enforcer.
  • The Dreaded: Is feared by both Youkai and the humans who know of him.
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: After his initial defeat against the Youkai he's revived and upgraded by Gulver, giving him a gold-colored super mode.
  • The Heavy: Leads the Youkai from the front and gives orders directly, while Gulver leads in secret.
  • Horns of Villainy: Has a ring of tusk-like horns around his head, and is an evil Demon King.
  • Maou the Demon King: The "Great Demon King" of the Youkai, though the real lord of evil is his boss.

The true leader of the Youkai and the Akuma Clan.
  • Bad Boss: Defiance of him means instant execution.
  • Big Bad: He's the one responsible for the Youkai attacks, after having been The Man Behind the Man to the Akuma Clan in Akumaizer 3.
  • Expy: An unseen and mysterious leader who controls multiple evil factions and gives orders as a disembodied voice? Played by Gorō Naya? Gulver may very well be an incarnation of the Great Leader.
  • Faceless Eye: Takes the form of a giant floating eye when communicating with his subordinates. Subverted when we discover the eye is really part of his true form.
  • The Man Behind the Curtain: Subverted. His true form may be a stubby looking Blob Monster but he's quite powerful and nearly defeats the Choujins in their final battle.
  • The Man Behind the Man: Secretly controlled the Akuma Clan through his disciples, and rules the Youkai while using the Great Demon King as a figurehead.
