  • Metool was a rather prominent Lethal Joke Character in the earlier days, mostly popularized by his level 3 hyper. What was it? The Metool Daddy falling out from nowhere and squashing the opponent for a One-Hit Kill, causing the text "0WN3D!!!" to appear on screen. It was made more hilarious and satisfying back during the "cheap busting" fad days when infamous cheap characters like Elque, Sephiroth, Nightmare SSJ3, Himan Zellode, and Super Mario 64 got 0WN3D in one hit by being squashed under a giant metool.
  • Michael Jackson as he appeared in Moonwalker is available, with all his moves from the Genesis game. Try holding down the spin button for a few seconds while fighting any overpowered badass characters and watch what happens. It's great.
  • Omega Tom Hanks. OMEGA. TOM. HANKS. His Arcade Mode intro consists of him flying in the air, saying "Hey everybody! I'm invincible!" Omega Tiger Woods is also hilarious for many of the same reasons.
  • "Adam West" Batman's Level 2 Super has him lift up his opponent, pull out a can of Bat Opponent-Repellent spray (with a close-up showing your enemy's portrait on the label) and give 'em a good spritz, all with appropriate sound effects.
  • Det. Laurel's special win animation: "Looks like you have the right to remain... *dons sunglasses* Unconscious." YEEEEEEEAAHH!!
  • The hilarious Game-Breaker that is Zeeky H. Bomb.
  • The sheer absurdity that is Rare Akuma. So crazy-powerful, but so quirky and hilarious! To wit, two of his Supers involve steamrolling opponents with a giant ball of various other characters Katamari Damacy-style (accompanied by a snippet of "Katamari on the Rocks") and dropping the Death Star upon foes before proceeding to "breakdance" on top of it to "The Imperial March", while his Shun Goku Satsu can end with a parody of the famous Earth All Along ending of Planet of the Apes (1968)... only with Akuma's face on the Statue of Liberty. Things only get more hilariously chaotic (and seizure-inducing) if there's a (Hyper) Rare Akuma Mirror Match (for example) or he's up against an equally broken character like Dark Donald or Twitch Waifu Chan.
  • Sad Claps, a version of Cyclops with a block of code added to him that makes him completely lose his shit, is absolutely hilarious.
  • If Deadpool faces Chuck Norris, than he can do nothing but run back and forth in fear, knowing how pointless it is to try and battle against Chuck.
  • Freddy Krueger's "Friendship" finisher from Mortal Kombat Project can hardly be called a Friendship finisher at all. He turns his opponent into an action figure and sells the defeated foe at a convention along with other fighters he has turned into action figures.
  • Several descriptions on the M.U.G.E.N. Wiki provide hilarious summations of particularly bad characters:
    • Jakobthecool867's Referee Mario:
Normally one to sit back and watch fights between a vertically challenged man and various national stereotypes, Referee Mario has decided that it's time to experience the thrills of being a boxer from the perspective of a boxer; unfortunately, Referee Mario doesn't seem to have adopted the principles of a clean fight, as he is entirely devoid of hurtboxes on any of his animations and thus effectively untouchable.
    • AxKing's Mario, which happens to be a spriteswap of his Donkey Kong character:
Seemingly rushed, and plagued with infinites and overly spammy attacks, it may not come as a surprise that this is not actually Mario, but Donkey Kong in disguise, wearing its lesser-known Mario suit; put this fraud into a grab to reveal its true identity.
  • Old Goku, a badly edited Goku with grey hair and wrinkles in a wheelchair for some reason. He can still perform ki blasts and instant transmissions, too! Vegeta Wheelchair is just as absurd.
  • There's a Purposely Overpowered joke character called "The Strongest Character In The World" (aka Apelao), a giant angry stickman who has only one attack that's a fullscreen instakill performed by any button. However, its readme gives us this gem for its supposed moveset, full of Overly Long Name Word Salad Title attacks:
a: Shin Mega Senpuu Retalliation Kibutz Blast Wave Kyaku
b: Evil Hokkaido Hiper Demon Origami Psychic Rush Shade
c: X-Ultra Yakisoba Rage Budoten Flaming Nakayama Drill-Peck
x: Super Electric Moashi Blaze Kenkoko Bin-Laden ShockWave Kienzan
y: Damn Mukeka Rising Nakoruru Mad Sakura Shen-Long Knee
z: Chain Hyakkizan Slash Kuririn Death Kimono Magnetic San-Sei UpperCut
  • Heck, the sheer amount of insane stuff you can do in this game is both hilarious and awesome, from having Ronald McDonald and Peter Griffin go up against Jason Voorhees, to having Mortal Kombat characters duke it out in Candy Land, to playing "Barbie Girl" during an epic battle in a post apocalyptic wasteland, to facing a 50 foot tall Ruby Rose that goes off the top of the screen.
  • One of Segalow's intros has Ragna the Bloodedge appear and get ready to fight... only for Segalow to teleport in and backstab him, à la the Spy from Team Fortress 2. Even in a completely different game altogether, Ragna's still the same Cosmic Plaything he was in his home series.
Ragna: This ain't exactly a playground, you know.
    Segalow: That's nothing! (backstabs Ragna)
  • SCP-999 "fights" by trying to make the opponent happy instead of dealing any damage. An opponent whose happiness bar gets full is forced into a Happy Dance for the rest of the fight... which usually consists of a weird animation cycle of crouching, standing back up, and turning around, while "Happy Happy Joy Joy" of all things replaces the background music. There's also its Cake Party hyper, where all opponents affected are made to sit at a table and eat cakes with it while Spazzmatica Polka plays. It can get downright hilarious when the opponents in the cake party are otherwise violent, crazy, horrifically evil, unrepentant, overpowered, or can't eat at all.
  • WannaKOFs Level 3 super, "The End of KOF." If it hits, a cutscene plays containing WannaKOF smashing the opponent into a logo, and in all of his Narmtastic glory, hits them so hard they break through, freeing the rest of the KOF cast. As WannaKOF walks away, one might think it's all said and done, only for a very familiar image to emerge from the rubble.
    • As an added bonus, a handful of the KOF members will stick around for the rest of the round if this is done.
  • There is a character out there that is just a bottle of ClearLice Shampoo. Funny enough, but it's development story is even crazier! On the MUGEN ARCHIVE forums, somebody claimed they would pay $20 for the character as part of promotion for the product. The idea was laughed at until one certain Hyde223 actually went along and made the character. To make a sized story short, Hyde never got the money, even after a quality update for the character, and the user never returned. This prompted Hyde to make some hilarious images going against the company, which all say "Suffering from [something bad]? Blame ClearLice!". He then made the third image his signature on the site. After the event, Hyde randomly @'s them with some kind of poor insult.
Hyde223: @CLvideos faka u, u suk pee pee. mega gay
Hyde223: show me the money cuck
Hyde223: @CLvideos fukey u. inhale dong
Hyde223: @CLvideos ur a bidch
Hyde223: @CLvideos your piness no work
Hyde223: @CLvideos u eat penas
Hyde223: @CLvideos dong water
  • There is an edit of The_None's infamous Giygas, known as lmaogas. This edit pretty much aims to diminish all the scary aspects of Giygas, a mix of Stylistic Suck and Nightmare Retardant. Some examples include replacing some of the Jump Scares with Omega Tiger Woods, Jack Black holding a stop sign, etc, replacing the gore from one of the failed minigames with source engine missing textures, and replacing virtually every audio clip meant to be scary with humorous ones. Examples include random cat noises, and J. Jonah Jameson laughing. To top that off, his victory screens are replaced with humorous imagery, sounds, and text that would be right at home in a YouTube Poop.
  • For that matter, many alternate soundpacks exist for characters that swap their sound effects with... sillier sounds. Three separate soundpacks exist for Rare Akuma alone, but other characters that have silly soundpacks include Dark Donald, Homer Simpson, and Dragon Claw. This is just one example of the madness that can unfold with these sounds, especially if the character patched is intentionally cheap.
