Like My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and Team Fortress 2, this series has a lot of characters. These tropes are specific to TF2 Analysis. Spoilers are unmarked. Be warned.

    RED Team

Dr. Wolf: Engineer

"It's good to be helping."

  • Big Good: Basically his role in the series.
  • Clothing Switch: Swaps outfits with Keyframe in "Red vs. Blue (Part 4)", becoming the BLU Medic for the rest of the arc. Once the arc is over, they switch back.
  • Killed Off for Real: In "Red vs. Blue (Part 4)", Dr. Wolf reveals that the Respawn Generator that brings the teams back to life upon death operates on the innate natural Magic of an individual to bring them back to life again. And it is revealed that Dr. Wolf himself doesn't even possess any innate natural Magic, meaning that if he dies in a Match: there's no coming back for him.
  • My Instincts Are Showing/Furry Reminder: In "I Saw It in a Movie", Sweetie Bloom plays wolf howls to make him howl along in his own despite. Sic transeunt the machines he's working on, because he's too distracted to stop them overloading.
  • Only Sane Man: He is the only character on the show who isn't...nuts
  • Team Dad: Interestingly, to both teams rather than just his own.

Commander Firebrand: Medic

"I wonder what would happen if I mixed these?"

  • Butt-Monkey: Not so much as a certain other member of his team, but a lot of times, he really gets the short end of the stick.
  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: Heavily Downplayed. A minor Running Gag is that the other players say that he never does any healing despite being a Medic. Firebrand, as he explains, focuses more on guiding the team through strategies, serving as more of a leader type since Dr. Wolf supervises from the office. In fact, on more than one occasion, Firebrand HAS been shown healing his teammates as expected from a Medic.

InkRose: Scout I

"Grass grows, birds fly, sun shines, and sister? I destroy you with my headcanons!"
Last Appearance: Aftermath

Silver Quill: Heavy I

"I don't want any healing! AAAAAAAHHH!!!"

Last Appearance: Aftermath
  • Butt-Monkey: Comes with being Silver Quill. Though, given that a lot of his misfortunes result from him ticking off his teammates in various ways, it often feels like he deserves it.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Finally gets a personal victory in "Deep Cover", in which he feeds Teric (The BLU Team's substitute Heavy) a candy that causes him to burp and crush his own team. While this results in a Stalemate due to the RED Team also suffering casualties, for once, Silver comes out on top.

AnY: Demoman I

"I am... an actual, real German. And they cast me as the Demoman instead of the Medic!"

Last Appearance: Aftermath
  • The Alcoholic: Fittingly for a Demoman. As pointed out in "Hennessy Heresy", though, he really need the booze, else he's just paralyzed by fear.
  • Drunk on Milk: While he's drinking cider like he believes, what he's drinking is completely without alcohol whatsoever.
  • Emotion Eater: Being half-changeling, he's this whenever he shifts into his changeling form. Unlike changelings in the show canon, he can feast on other emotions besides love, such as anger and hatred.
  • Forced Transformation: Played with. In "Red vs. Blue", Sweetie Bloom gives him enough love that his changeling form turns into one similar to the "reformed" designs of changelings, and he's not happy with it, at all.
  • Magic Feather: However, as Dr. Wolf reveals, he's been giving him non-alcoholic cider exclusively. AnY seems to be in denial that he doesn't need to be drunk to not be afraid.
    • In "Aftermath", AnY reveals he knew all along that the cider wasn't alcoholic, but pretended so hard that it was alcoholic that it felt that way to him. That being said, he also admits that he wouldn't have wanted to actually be drunk on the battlefield, as under the influence he'd very dangerous to everyone.

Eliyora: Pyro

"They really shouldn't have made me angry..."

Voice of Reason: Sniper

"Reviewing's a good job, kid. Tight work, you're indoors, you can guarantee it won't be boring. Because at the end of the day, as long as there's media out there, someone's gonna want somethin' critiqued."

Gibbontake: Spy I

"You can't just kill willy-nilly. You have to make sure that your targets are distracted enough, and killing them won't attract undue attention."

Last Appearance: 'Stop Helping Me!!!''

Phantom Horn: Soldier I

"I am the prettiest unicorn!"

Last Appearance: Analysis Anarchy

Mad Munchkin: Soldier II

"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for a ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a particular set of skills - skills that I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for ponies like you. If you let my hat go now, that will be the end of it. I will not look for you. I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you. I will find you. And I will kill you."

British Ninja: Spy II

"You know you were actually right the first time. Funny how the dead ringer works."

First Appearence: For My Eyes Only
First Appreance as Red Spy: Meet the Red Spy
  • Out of Focus: The member with the least screentime, which he lampshades in "Red vs. Blue" and bonds with Tyandaga (The newly recruited BLU Pyro) over in the same arc.

    BLU Team

Keyframe: Medic I

"You're gonna be having tea with Tirek - IN TARTARUS!"

Unofficial Debut: Meet the Keyframe
Official Debut: A New Challenge???
Last Appearance: Aftermath

  • Berserk Button: She's done with the many tall jokes made about her.
  • Bodyguarding a Badass: On the receiving end of Goldenfox's overprotective tendencies.
  • Clothing Switch: Swaps outfits with Dr. Wolf in "Red vs. Blue (Part 4)", becoming the RED Engineer for the rest of the arc. Once the arc is over, they switch back.
  • Super Mode: Gains one with an invention of hers.

ToonKriticY2K: Soldier I/Pyro I

"Wait 'til they get a load of me."

Last Appearance: Holiday Special
  • Book Ends: Both the first and last episode that have him as the main focus, You Gave WHO a Flame Thrower??? have similar names, as well as the plot of Eliyora tutoring him in the game (and later the class of the Pyro).
  • Kill It with Fire: He's a Pyro; comes with the territory.
  • Ret-Gone: Due to real life events (See the main page and Trivia for more info on it), his character was written out completely pass the holiday special and hasn't been acknowledged since, except for "Court is Adurred", where Mary Sue indirectly referred to him as "unreliable".
  • Running Gag: He NEVER gets to enjoy his milkshake. EVER.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: Gains this in "Seven Nation Army, Part 3" after getting his milkshake destroyed one too many times.
Toon: Are. You. Kidding me?! These cursed automatons cost me my beloved shake, a shake I didn't really want at first until this became a running gag. But you know what? I actually want it now! You know how hard it is being me, a red and black OC who can't even get a fudging milkshake after a hard day's work? Well guess what, amigos? You're going straight to the scrap yard!

Sweetie Bloom: Demoman I

"Can we watch Moana next?"
Last Appearance: Aftermath
  • Berserk Button: The infamous Live-Action remakes of classic Disney movies are this for her, which Keyframe uses to the team's advantage against the robots in "Red vs. Blue" by telling her that the robots are responsible for said remakes.
  • Fangirl: Of Disney movies and Disney Princesses.

GoldenFox: Sniper

Silver Quill: "I feel like a tool for doing this, but that Rarity drinking game shaved years off my life!"
GoldenFox: "For the record, you didn't even accept that challenge, birdbrain!"
Silver Quill: "That, sir, is racist!"

Unofficial Debut: Star Search

ILoveKimPossibleALot: Scout I

"I swear, by the end of this, someone else besides me is gonna be mummified!"

Last Appearance: Finngerbread Man

Lightning Bliss: Heavy

"Call me cute! I dare you! Call me cute. One. More. Time."

Finn the Pony: Engineer

"Hey, who wants a drink?"

  • Nice Guy: All he wants is to help everyone and cheer everyone up.

Thespio: Spy

"Nothing personal! I just needed to shut your headcanons up! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

  • Ax-Crazy: The reason Keyframe wants him hired; she doesn't want anyone to feel his wrath.
  • Deal with the Devil: Feeling like he's nothing more than a joke after his debut, Thespio travels to Tartarus and summons a demon to make himself more awesome. It fails horribly because he doesn't specify what he exactly wants when he says he wants to be "awesome".
  • Large Ham: The hammiest.
  • Orphaned Punchline: In "Double Rainbow" before he's interrupted.
Thespio: And so I says to the guy, "That's not a teleportation spell, that's a—"

Jasper Pie: Soldier II

"I am military putty in y'alls hooves!"

Official Debut: Saving Private Jasper
  • Butt-Monkey: Basically the Silver Quill of the Blue Team.
  • Large Ham: His hamminess rivals Thespio.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: He completely botches up the trial between Doc & Firebrand and Tyandaga... and yet it's revealed at the end that Mary Sue fixed it so that Ty would become the Blu Pyro if he won, and that Jasper was in on it. So by that logic, Jasper PURPOSELY botched up as a lawyer to trigger the series of events during the trial that ultimately lead to the Blu team's roster finally being completely full.
  • Those Two Guys: Him and Thespio

Tyandaga: Pyro II

"Never come between a deer and his cookies!"

Unofficial Debut: Holiday Special (2017)
Official Debut: Court is Adurred

Teric the Dragon: Substitute Heavy

"TIME TO RUN, COWARDS! Oh, wait. Save that for the battlefield. Right."

  • Special Guest: Serves as one in "Substitute Heavy" and "Deep Cover" while Lightning Bliss was taking a sick leave.

Aramau: BLU Medic II (SPOILERS)

Unofficial Debut: Tf5 "Analypsis Anorgy"

  • Affably Evil: She's working for Mann Co., which is now run by DustyKatt, but is a sister figure to a majority of the cast and can be sweet as well as an efficient worker.
  • In-Series Nickname: Jasper calls her "Scary Ari Poppins", and given the orders she enforces, it ain't hard to see why.

    Other Characters

VectorBrony/"Jiminy": Eyelander

Unofficial Debut: Star Search

  • Cerebus Retcon: Him getting knocked out by Mad Munchkin? At first it served as a joke in that he got caught in the collateral of her fit of rage. As of "Asking For The Moon"? Turns out that this was what led him to create the original robot army from "Seven Nation Army" and then get trapped in Sweetie Bloom's Eyelander.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: In "New Opportunities Part 1", Eyelander is seen with a For Rent sign next to it, with the sign also saying it's been recently excorcised, meaning that VectorBrony is no longer trapped in the sword.
  • Red Herring: Played straight then subverted. His comments under episodes suggested he was responsible for the robots, until they were revealed to be Lily Peet's instead. However he was later revealed in "Asking For The Moon" to be the original creator of the robots, and Lily Peet took them from him.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: He serves as the force that makes Eyelander a ghost sword, but when Sweetie Bloom takes on her super form, he gains a physical form as a mink.

DustyKatt: Saxton Hale

  • Affably Evil: Is quite a pleasant stallion to chat with when he isn't trying to kill you.
  • Big Bad: of "The Seven Nation Army".
  • Klingon Promotion: Kills ACRaceBest and SaberSpark at the end of "Red vs. Blue" and takes their place as head of Mann Co. The mercs don't learn of this until "New Opportunties Part 1".
  • Punch-Clock Villain: "The Rescuers: Six Feet Under" reveals that when he's not trying to kill our heroes, he's a Nice Guy.

AntonyC: The Administrator

"I see you were planning to betray me later. I was planning to betray you later, so that's fair!"

  • Dragged Off to Hell: His fate as of the end of "Red vs. Blue". How long he'll stay that way is yet to be seen.
  • Evil Is Petty: Is constantly trying to get revenge on Dr. Wolf and the others for not inviting him to be part of either team (He could've just AUDITIONED). He even ADMITS that his revenge plots are petty.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: The mastermind behind the events of "Seven Nation Army" (Gave DustyKatt the Alicorn Amulet and made an alliance with Lily Orchard for the robots) and "Red vs. Blue" (Used chaos magic, which led to most of the mercenaries gaining their infamous "Super Forms", and counted on the mercenaries' egos leading them to conflict with one another so he could freely invade Coal Town with a brand new robot army).

Lily Orchard: Gray Mann

"A glass of water, if you please..."

Mary Sue: The Announcer

"Hi, everypony! I know you're all super excited to hear my voice in the loud, echo-ey thingy, but I have to make my announcement publicly. I am Mary Sue, you're practically perfect in every way announcer! First point of call, RED Team is now PINK Team! Why? Because, pink is the best color ever!"

Unofficial Debut: Holiday Special (2017)
Official Debut: Practically Perfect
  • Game-Breaker: In-Universe, this is why Wolf hired her as announcer rather than assigning her a team.
  • Mundane Utility: Dr. Wolf decided that since her nature would make her an In-Universe Game-Breaker for whichever team she was on, making her the announcer would be a better use of her ability to do whatever she tries perfectly.
  • Logic Bomb: When she's kidnapped by Lightning Bliss in dragon mode as her 'Damsel In Distress', she knows that as Mary Sue she's obviously the best at being a helpless damsel, but also as Mary Sue she should also be a strong and independent woman. The conflict at being the best at the completely opposite things causes her to freak out.
  • Oh, Crap!: Gets a moment during "Red Vs Blue" when she realizes that her nature of being the best at everything also makes her the best damsel for Lightning Bliss(who is in super mode).
  • Parody Sue: As in Mad Munchkin's videos, she's a parody of bad Alicorn Original Characters.
  • Winged Unicorn: She's an Alicorn.

SEGASister: Miss Pauling I

"If I work for him, your safety is guaranteed. He can't touch you, or at least he shouldn't. I'm doing this to keep you safe, to make sure he doesn't harm a single hair on your head… Voicey, you are my life. I couldn't live with myself if anything happened to you."

Abbey Roadie: Spray Painter

  • Chekhov's Gun: Enforced. Keyframe has her stay behind in Dr. Wolf's office while the teams deal with the robots outside. This allows her to deal with Antony by using her spray gun to airblast him into the trapdoor to Tartarus in the office. Keyframe even says that Abbie is this trope word-for-word.
  • Ship Tease: Is notably invoking this between herself and DustyKatt as of Season 7, taking as much advantage of any screentime she has with him as possible.

ACRacebest and Saberspark: Redmond and Blutarch Mann (SPOILERS)

  • Asshole Victim: Both of them get killed by DustyKatt at the end. Considering their actions throughout the movie, it goes without saying that they won't be missed.
  • Evil Is Petty:The reason they send the teams to kill the other? Because Red stole Blue's Zootopia poster. Needless to say, both teams are disgusted by the revelation.
  • Unrelated in the Adaptation: In TF2 canon, Redmond and Blutarch are brothers, whereas here they're simply friends turned enemies.
