    Boxxo

Boxxo

Voiced by: Jun Fukuyama (Japanese), Garret Storms (English), Geezuz González (Latin American Spanish)

A vending machine otaku who died saving a vending machine, only to suddenly find himself in another world, transformed into one.

  • Cast from Hit Points: As the new world lacks electricity, he is powered by "points". He can spend points to buy upgrades, repair himself, and cast spells, and passively loses 1 point per hour. He gains points by selling things. He believes that running out of points will shut him down.
  • Chekhov's Hobby: His love for vending machines allows him to transform into many different types of vending machines. For example, his knowledge of old-school oxygen machines allowed him to save Hulemy from suffocating under rubble until Lammis arrived to rescue them. It also proves instrumental in saving Hulemy and Shui's lives after they are left lifeless following the battle with the Netherlord, by turning into an AED machine (along with buying the Telekinesis ability) to help resuscitate them.
  • Companion Cube: Inverted by actually being a sentient object. Also potentially an example of Living Toys.
  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique: He is capable of inserting items directly into his microwave function, which enables him to combo canned items with the barrier to create a flaming projectile. He calls this "the forbidden step", because it damages him in the process. Real life too-don't microwave sealed cans!
  • Deflector Shields: He has a barrier spell to protect himself and allies from attacks.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Allowing people to buy supplies from him rewards him with points to live on and gain new abilities. However, because his quality products can overshadow other places like restaurants, he sometimes limits his sales to prevent a negative economic effect. He also makes sure to keep things at a fair price to prevent customers from overspending.
  • Mind over Matter: He uses points to unlock the Telekinesis ability so he can use an AED to resuscitate Hulemy and Shui after the battle with the Netherlord, since people from a medieval fantasy world wouldn't have the first clue about how to use one.
  • Money Sink: All the money he collects earns him points for his own use, but the coins never go anywhere, so the village starts running out of silver coins. Then they find they can use gold coins and get silver coins back as change. This raises the question of what happens when they run out of gold coins.
  • Nice Guy: He's a nice and friendly guy.
  • No Name Given: His original name when he was human is not revealed. Lammis names him "Boxxo".
  • Otaku: In his previous life, he was an otaku obsessed with vending machines. It actually proves useful when he is soon able to turn into other kinds of vending machines.
  • Reincarnated as a Non-Humanoid: He was reborn as a vending machine in a medieval fantasy world.
  • Talking Appliance Sidekick: Boxxo is a sentient vending machine sidekick to Lammis, who often carries him. Except he can only communicate using preprogrammed lines.
  • Welcome to Corneria: As a vending machine, he can only say prerecorded phrases. He and Lammis work out a way to communicate by designating one phrase to mean "yes" and another phrase to mean "no", and eventually he starts splicing his phrases to make more complex sentences.

    Lammis

Lammis

A young hunter from a village. She was the first human Boxxo met in this world.

  • Action Girl: She's a fighter with Super-Strength.
  • Amusingly Awful Aim: Her aim is so poor she has trouble actually hitting anything. Her aim does improve when she's carrying Boxxo because his weight gives her better balance.
  • And Call Him "George": The hugs she gives Boxxo after reuniting give him more damage than he took while separated from her.
  • Badass Adorable: A female hunter and a very cute one to boot.
  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: She's a female hunter wearing a crop top that exposes her midriff.
  • Braids of Action: She's an incredibly strong hunter and her hair is tied into a braid.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: She wears a pauldron on her left shoulder and her left leg is covered by a thigh-high stocking, while her right leg is bare.
  • Female Fighter, Male Handler: Lammis is a super strong fighter and Boxxo is her man-turned-vending machine companion who provides her support with his items and Deflector Shields.
  • First Friend: She's the first friend that Boxxo makes in his new life as a vending machine.
  • Genius Bruiser: Physically powerful and incredibly insightful. When she first met Boxxo, despite having never seen something like him, she keyed into how he worked and what he was very quickly thanks to her own experiences and some thinking.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She's a big-hearted and caring girl with blonde hair.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's a very busty girl wearing a form-fitting outfit that reveals her cleavage and midriff.
  • Nice Girl: She's a very sweet and caring girl.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Subverted, Lammis has super strength without anything to act as a counterweight force, which throws her aim completely off. It's only when she's carrying Boxxo around that she has the necessary mass that she can land a hit more reliably.
  • Super-Strength: She has the Blessing of Might, which makes her strong enough to pick up and carry Boxxo.
  • Tank-Top Tomboy: She's a tomboyish Action Girl wearing a tank top and short-shorts.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: She may be super strong, but she is clumsy at controlling her own strength.

  • Tomboyish Voice: She's a tomboy who speaks with a raspy voice.
  • Unkempt Beauty: She has disheveled hair and dresses sloppily, but still looks cute. Justified in her debut chapter as her captors kept her isolated for an unknown amount of time before they brought Boxxo to her.

  • A Father to His Men: Make no mistake, despite his arrogant behavior, Kerioil cares deeply for the members of his group, best shown by his panicked reaction when Shui is nearly killed by the Netherlord, and him tearfully hugging her after Boxxo resuscitates her. After this event, he is later shown questioning whether it is right for him to risk his friend's lives for a goal they may not be able to accomplish, before Shiro, Aka, and Filmina cheer him up.
  • Anti-Hero: The most morally grey character in the series thus far, thanks to his arrogant and shady personality.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: While being a reliable leader, Lammis and even his teammates remark that him trying to recruit Boxxo for adventures comes off too shady for their liking. and he's often a butt of jokes.
  • Perma-Stubble: He resembles a cowboy and has the goatee stubble to complete the look.

  • Expository Pronoun: She uses the old-fashioned and regal first-person pronoun "warawa" when she's being arrogant, but switches to the more unassuming "watashi" when acting civil.
  • Formal Characters Use Keigo: Her Japanese speech patterns are extremely formal, showing her rich status.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She's an immature young girl wearing her hair in two large pigtails.
  • Hime Cut: She's an Ojou with blunt bangs, cheek-length sidelocks, and knee-length Girlish Pigtails.
  • Malicious Misnaming: She calls Lammis "Lammaries" to make fun of her large breasts.
  • Ojou: She's the daughter of a rich tycoon.
  • Regal Ringlets: Her Girlish Pigtails curl into large ringlets that reach down to her knees. It's a fitting hairstyle for a rich girl.
  • Rescue Introduction: Boxxo and Lammis first meet her when a pair of thugs are about to mug her in an alley. Lammis fails to hit the thugs, but the strength of her punches is enough to scare them away.
  • Token Mini-Moe: She's much younger and more childish than the rest of the cast.
