Grandmaster's Legion

A group of villains that has taken several forms over the years, each iteration equally dedicated to the destruction of the Avengers.

A martial artist and member of the Sons of the Tiger. He's also the brother of Hobie Brown/Prowler.

Notable Aliases: Kurr'fri of the Saurians

First Appearance: Marvel Age Annual #1 (July 1985)

Kurr'fri is a member of the Saurian race, a group of mutated humanoid lizards from New Mexico. He later joined the fourth incarnation of the Lethal Legion lead by Porcupine.

A man who had his head placed on a gorilla's body.


  • Killer Gorilla: He's a Mad Scientist in a gorilla's body.
  • Mad Doctor: Nagan is a brilliant surgeon who can transplant almost any living living tissue or organ into another organism.
  • One-Steve Limit: His codename is shared with Kenneth Hale of the Agents of Atlas.
  • Super-Strength: As expected from a gorilla body, Nagan can lift about two tons.

Alter Ego: A. G. Bell

First Appearance: Marvel Age Annual #1 (Jul. 1985)

Phone Ranger was a member of the Lethal Legion and was seemingly killed by Scourge. Phone Ranger was incarcerated during 'Civil War'.


  • The Bus Came Back: After being presumed dead at the hands of the Scourge in the late eighties, he reappeared alive several years later during Civil War in the mid 2000s.
  • Butt-Monkey: The guy is not meant to be taken seriously.
  • Imported Alien Phlebotinum: Tiny aliens were using a rotary phone as a prison, a phone he got called to repair when it broke. He studied and reverse-engineered the technology they left behind, finding it could tap into any form of communication, and decided to use it to become a superhero.
  • Not Quite Dead: He received a bullet to the head, but his headgear deflected the impact, saving his life.
  • Punny Name: A play on Lone Ranger.
  • Steven Ulysses Perhero: A.G. Bell, the same initials as Alexander Graham Bell.

Jason Roland is an movie actor who uses magical ropes to fight as Hangman.


  • The Ageless: Since striking his bargain with Satannish, Roland's aging process has been dramatically slowed, possibly even halted altogether. He has the appearance and vitality of a human male in his physical prime, in spite of his actual age.
  • Deal with the Devil: In return for great acting success, Roland sold his soul to the demonic being known as Satannish. As part of the deal, Roland eventually became a mystically empowered minion.
  • Enhanced Archaic Weapon: At all times, Roland carries with him an enchanted piece of rope of seemingly limitless length: usually with one end fashioned into a noose. The mystical properties of the rope respond telepathically to his commands and is able to generate more of itself in order to suit whatever purpose that he has in mind.
  • Instant Knots: The mystical properties of his rope respond telepathically to his commands, and it will bind itself at his command.
  • Knowsthe Ropes: Wields an enchanted rope as weapon; using it to bind or strangle opponents.
  • Super-Strength: He has the ability to lift upwards of 25 tons.
  • Super-Toughness: Roland's mystically augmented body is tougher, more resistant and more resilient than that of a normal human.
  • Variable-Length Chain: Roland carries with him an enchanted piece of rope of seemingly limitless length. The mystical properties of the rope respond telepathically to his commands and is able to lengthen or shorten itself in order to suit whatever purpose that he has in mind.

Gh'Ree and R'Hos Blood are two Roclites better known as the Blood Brothers. They were in the service of the conqueror Thanos for years. Currently members of Grandmaster's Lethal Legion.


  • The Brute: First for Thanos and now for Grandmaster.
  • Facial Markings: One brother has one over his left eye while the other has it over his right one.
  • Psychic Link: The Blood Brothers were linked symbiotically in a way that isn't entirely known. This symbiotic relationship directly affected the superhuman abilities of each.
  • Sibling Team: Brothers that fought together.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Though they had no formal training, the Blood Brothers were formidable hand to hand combatants, essentially using street fighting techniques that allowed them to make full use of their great strength.

  • Alternate Self: He's possibly the Prime Universe version of Noh-Var's father.
  • Boxed Crook: After Empyre, for his role in R'Klll's coup against Hulkling and his refusal to atone by laying down arms, he's sent to a prison camp until the Emperor feels he's needed. He's not at all bothered by it, simply explaining that unlike his friend Kl'rt the Super-Skrull, he's physically incapable of being anything other than what he is; a soldier. As a result, he's content to atone by waiting until he is needed. Unfortunately, he dies in the course of duty.
  • Co-Dragons: He and Kl'rt the Super-Skrull act in this manner for Dorrek VIII/Hulkling during Empyre.
  • Expy: Described as a "Kree Captain America", and he does have similarities.
  • Flying Brick: Besides some degree of regeneration, he has flight and a respectable degree of superhuman strength and durability.
  • Hand Blast: It's revealed in The Last Annihilation that he's got these in his tool-box too.
  • Good Thing You Can Heal: He got better after having his back broken by the Hulk.
  • Human Aliens: He is a pink-skinned Kree, meaning he looks like a caucasian human.

Drall was an Endrionic gladiator and one of the members of the Lethal Legion assembled by the Grandmaster to fight on his behalf against the Challenger's Black Order as part of a contest carried out on Earth.

Mentacle was a powerful Rigellian telepath and one of the members of the ragtag Lethal Legion assembled by the Grandmaster to confront the Challenger's Black Order as part of a contest carried out on Earth


  • Combat Tentacles: Instead of legs she has tentacles.
  • Psychic Powers: Mentacle possesses psychic powers, being able to prevent Supergiant from taking over the body of Captain Glory, and making use of mind-blasts.
  • Token Non-Human: More like Token Non-Humanoid, since she was designed purposefully to avoid having all aliens from the Lethal Legion be entirely humanoid.

  • Extra-ore-dinary: Like all Astrans, Metal Master can mentally manipulate virtually any kind of metallic substance, even mystical metals like the enchanted Uru of Mjolnir. He could also telekinetically move metal substances from one location to another at various velocities and with varying degrees of force.
  • Legacy Character: Explicitly the second user of the Metal Master moniker.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Explicitly created so that the original Metal Master didn't return to villainy for no reason.
