The Abyssal Fleet

The opponents faced by the player's fleet. The game itself says little about their origins, but the print spin-offs put forward the idea that they are an alien menace, and what's more are utterly hostile to humanity as a whole, plaguing the world's shipping lanes with unprovoked attacks.

Popular fan theory suggests that the Abyssals, particularly its more humanoid members, are either corrupted souls of sunken Fleet Girls or their negative thoughts given physical forms. The Summer 2014/Aleutians-Midway Event adds even more speculation fuel, as it's obliquely hinted through their lines that the Midway Princess and the Carrier Princess are Evil Counterparts of Akagi and Kaga, respectively. The 2014 Fall Event in Western New Guinea implies that Aircraft Carrier Water Oni is one for Shoukaku.

The movie confirms this theory to be true: both Abyssals and their Fleet Girl counterparts are in fact the same person, and sinking either of them would cause them to be brought back as the other and vice versa. Kaga is one of the known Fleet Girls who used to be an Abyssal at some point and retains vague memories of it. There is also a possiblity that an Abyssal can also exist alongside her Fleet Girl counterpart simultaneously, as seen with the original Fubuki, whose soul is split into the current one and her Abyssal half after sinking at Ironbottom Sound.

Universal Tropes

  • Animate Inanimate Object: While not really appearing as enemies, some of the CGs shows some objects what have been Abyssalified. Submarine Princess' artwork shows her with two living torpedoes, Z3's Summer 2016 damaged artwork shows her being creeped up by a living naval mine with tentacles, and Escort Water Princess has her accompanied with living lifebuoys.
  • Bland-Name Product: Some of the equipment used by them, like the "Cat Fighter" and "Revenge Torpedo Bomber"... well, it doesn't take a genius to see why many players think the Abyssals represent the Allies.
  • Body Horror: Some of the smaller or weaker Abyssal Ships are disturbing, to say the least. Fanon Wild Mass Guessing has the knack of taking this to Fridge Horror levels.
  • Department of Redundancy Department: Since the ships do not have official individual names (like Kongou, Kirishima, etc.) when their name and class are used together to refer to them, this scheme ends up having stuff like Battleship "Battleship Princess" being common.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: The dark haired Abyssals.
  • Eldritch Abomination: They're definitely alien, particularly the starter opponents.
  • Enemy Without: In the anime continuity, some Princesses, such as the Airfield/Midway and Night Strait Princesses, exist alongside their Ship Girl counterparts (Akagi and the Fusou sisters respectively), though it is not clear if they're born from the Ship Girls' negative thoughts or not. Played straight with Fubuki and her Abyssal counterpart in the movie.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: For some unknown reason, the ones based on airfields (which are islands) besides Harbor Water Demon and Anchorage Water Demon have existent (albeit low) Evasion stats. How does an island, a completely stationary object, evade gunfire?
    • Taken even further starting from Winter 2016 Event, as defeating the boss in an event map would clear off the red mist off the map, thereby implying it had been freed from Abyssal's influence. When you visit said map again after clearing it, the mist are still there, and so are the Abyssals.
  • Grayscale of Evil: They're all white-skinned, wear white or black hair and clothing, have mechanical parts in black or dark metallic grays, and are waging war on humankind.
  • Horned Humanoid: A number of them have horns of varying sizes, occasionally broken off in their damaged art.
  • Humanoid Abomination: There's also obviously something off about the humanoid representatives of the Abyssal Fleet. The fact that many seem to be hard-wired with weaponry reminiscent of something you'd expect to find in H. R. Giger's work does not help matters.
  • Monstrosity Equals Weakness: The weaker generic Abyssal ships (destroyers, cruisers, light carriers, submarines) are almost entirely monstrous, while the battleships and fleet carriers look much like shipgirls if they had white skin and their rigging was designed after a marine biologist's nightmares. The Abyssal bosses are the strongest of all, and they have individualized designs that look quite humanoid.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: Most, if not all, of them incorporate a big pair of chompers in their designs, some of which are hiding more rows of teeth.
  • Oni: Horned Abyssals tend to look like them, Battleship Princess in particular. To support this, the "Demon" in the names of the ships is written in the kanji for "Oni", which has prompted endless speculation since.
  • The Pretty Guys Are Stronger: Unlike the clearly inhuman mooks, all Demon and Princess ships are girls with massive abominations. In the original Iroha order, they even progressively take a more human appearance.
  • Revenant Zombie: Many fans theorize that they used to be normal shipgirls who sank and then got reanimated due to their grudge, akin to the "vengeful ghost" concept. It helps (or perhaps doesn't) that some of the Abyssal bosses look similar to some of the shipgirls. The 4koma also says something along those lines, while The Movie spells it out loud.
  • Sorting Algorithm of Evil: The first Abyssal ships that rookie Admirals will encounter at the start of their careers are comparatively weak Destroyers and Light Cruisers. The further afield they sortie however, they'll soon run into Heavy Cruisers and Carriers, and by the time they hit the end of World 2, they're introduced to the formidable Fleet Carriers and Battleships. When they finally arrive at world 5, "normal" Abyssal ships have mostly given way to Elite and Flagship versions, and what's more, an Admiral's fleet will have to face powerful Abyssal bosses (Demon-class and Princess-class) guarding important nodes.
  • Stripperiffic:
    • Frequently, ranging from 'wearing a thong with no skirt or trousers' to 'wearing a bikini' to 'might as well be wearing nothing at all'. Of particular note here are Ta, Ri, Armored Aircraft Carrier Demon, and Southern Ocean War Princess.
    • While the undamaged Airfield Princess model seems to fall the under the first category, her damaged model (which appeared in Summer 2015 event) shows that she is actually wearing a white leotard.
  • Technicolor Eyes:
  • Turns Red:
    • All 3 of the Summer '14 bosses do this when the gauge is one kill from being destroyed. They even receive a bright red glow on them. Especially noticeable on Midway Princess and Aircraft Carrier Princess, whose bodies have glowing veins appearing all over.
    • Light Cruiser Oni and Battleship Water Oni in the Winter 2015 have a similar harder form which appears depending on both the completion bar and the difficulty selected.
  • Undeathly Pallor: Absolute white skin, which goes along nicely with the Glowing Eyelights of Undeath.
  • Was Once a Man: According to Kaga in the movie, the Abyssals are actually sunken Ship Girls and can be turned back into Ship Girls by sinking them. She experienced this firsthand during her time as an Abyssal.
  • We Have Reserves: For a good reason. The Abyssal fleet seem to never run out of ships, mainly it's common ships... Which often later appear in stronger forms.
  • We Will Meet Again/I Shall Return: Some of the enemy bosses will tend to say this, for a good reason.
Anchorage: "I...will return back...To above the blue sea..."
  • White Hair, Black Heart: The white-haired Abyssals.

    General Enemy Units

The standard Abyssal ships, divided into the same ship classes as the shipgirls. While they lack the variety and personality of the shipgirls, they make up for it with numbers.

Destroyers

I-Class

  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: Shown off in the anime. Unlike much of the Abyssals which prefer to lay back and shoot with the cannons from afar, the I-class on more than one occasion go straight up to their opposing fleet and shoot them point-blank.
  • The Goomba: The weakest enemy in the game. However, their Flagship and Late Model version, turn them into Goddamn Bats.
  • Took a Level in Badass: The Summer 2015 event introduced the fiendishly strong Elite Late Model Kai version, which sports a menacing blood red aura and enough firepower and torpedoes to demolish even heavy cruisers in one shot.
  • Zerg Rush: Both in game and in the anime, I-class are easily the most plentiful Abyss ships and among the weakest.

Ro-Class

  • Took a Level in Badass: In later events they appear later in their (Elite) Late Model version. As they carry powerful Anti-Submarine equipment that can be a bane to submarines. Like the I-class, it's Elite Late Model sports a menacing blood red aura.

Ha-Class

  • Cyber Cyclops: Resembles a gigantic cyclopean skull or an Oni-mask.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In later events they appear later in their (Elite) Late Model version. With addition of the ASW patch, they can perform opening anti submarine attack.

Ni-Class

  • Cyber Cyclops: Shares this appearance with Ha-Class, but without the lower jaw.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In later events they appear later in their (Elite) Late Model version.

Na-Class

  • The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: Stronger versions have opening torpedo, which no player-usable destroyer has.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: Has a gleaming purple eyes partially covered in metallic plate. It was uncovered in Late Model versions, making their eyes fits this trope to a T.
  • Nested Mouths: Has at least two jaws, with a cannon for a tongue.

Cruisers

Light Cruiser Ho-Class

  • Godiva Hair: Their hair reaches down past their head and into the machine they're seated in.
  • Woman In The Machine: Their entire body is seated within a Moai-like structure, topped with its gun turrets.

Light Cruiser He-Class

Light Cruiser To-Class

  • Multiple Head Case: Has three heads total, two of which appear to be part of its rigging.

Light Cruiser Tsu-Class

The strongest regular light cruiser. Their strong Anti-Air abilities imply that they represent the US Navy's Atlanta-class cruisers.

  • Anti-Air: They have unique medium ranged dual purpose guns, which some speculate allow them to perform Anti-Air Cut-Ins.
    • Which makes them the Goddamned Bats in maps that requires a significant number of carriers, as they can and will turn the skies into a goddamned turkey shoot in their favor.
  • King Mook: The most powerful Light Cruiser type enemy in the game, they also show up as bosses in some maps, especially those that are restricted to small ships.
  • Power Fist: Her arms and hands are gigantic, and make her look quite a bit like Strength.

Torpedo Cruiser Chi-Class

  • Arm Cannon: They also visibly used it in the anime.
  • Cool Mask: Covers nearly her entire face, with only the mouth and glowing left eye exposed.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Kitakami and Ooi, given they were historically the only ships with that classification.

Heavy Cruiser Ri-Class

Your run-of-the-mill Abyssal Heavy Cruisers. With their combination of triple 8-inch main batteries and 21-inch torpedo launchers, they seem to represent one of two classes of USN heavy cruisers built under the limits of the Washington Naval Treaty, the Pensacola and Northampton classes.note

  • Boyish Short Hair: She might be the only short haired Abyssal so far.
  • Power Fist: Wields her ship parts as a pair of gauntlets, one being an Arm Cannon and the other the Abyssal Fleet's signature giant maw.
  • King Mook: Her remodelled flagship version, often called Black Rick Shooter or BRS which show up as bosses in some maps.
  • Stripperiffic: Easily among the least covered out of all the humanoid Abyssals, though she wears more than others such as the Southern Ocean War Princess whose hair is the only thing covering her breasts, and the Armored Aircraft Carrier Princess who wears nothing — not even any thigh-highs.

Heavy Cruiser Ne-Class

The strongest of the Abyssal Heavy Cruisers. While they share the same basic armament set up as the lesser Ri-Class (Triple 8-inchers backed up by torpedoes) making them represent the same two classes of USN heavy cruisers as the Ri-class, their high stats, in particular their high luck, heavily imply they represent the Royal Navy's HMAS Australia.

Battleships

Ru-Class

  • Boss in Mook Clothing: Her Flagship variant makes her this. She also gain the remodeled flagship variant in Spring 2014, also known as Black Ruck Shooter or BRS just as the Ri-class.
  • Evil Counterpart: To slow-speed player Battleships, specifically the Nagato-class.
  • Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: The dark feminine to Ta-Class's light feminine.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: The size and shape of her ship parts resemble massive shields, and she's certainly well protected.
  • Mighty Glacier: The strongest and toughest regular Abssyal Battleship players will encounter in the game. With each version becoming tougher and harder to kill. Exaggerated with her Kai Flagship version.
  • Wake-Up Call Boss: Her first appearance in 1-3 boss node often comes as a nasty surprise to new players.

Ta-Class

  • Badass Cape: With a single piece of shoulder armor on the left shoulder.
  • Degraded Boss: First appearing as the flagship of 2-5's boss node, she quickly gets demoted to being flagship of mook nodes or escort to proper bosses.
  • Evil Counterpart: To player-controlled fast battleships, like the Kongou-class and Bismarck.
  • Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: The light feminine to Ru-Class's dark feminine.
  • Sailor Fuku: A short one with a thong and no skirt.

Re-Class

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/re_class_8.png

The Re-class is something of a mystery, as she matches no Allied ship directly. However, fandom frequently associates her with the 1977 proposed conversion of the Iowa-class battleships, which would have given them an aft flight deck for Harrier jumpjets and ASW helicopters, multiple vertical launch anti-ship missile systems and retained their forward turrets.

  • A Head at Each End: She has a tail-like extension which had a head at the tip.
  • Badass Adorable: Very cute and younger-looking than the other battleships, yet by far the toughest of the non-boss Abyssal ships. Her small size has led to speculation that she represents Taffy 3.
  • Boss in Mook Clothing: Her Elite model is encountered as a standard enemy, yet has better torpedoes that the Chi-class Torpedo cruiser and more aircraft slots than the Airfield Princess that are also better.
    • Keep in mind that she still has two more upgrades, Flagship and Flagship Kai, that have yet to see the light of day. Most players dread the day when these versions show up to wREck their fleets.
  • The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: Not only can she launch both preemptive and closing torpedoes, which is currently impossible for any player-obtainable battleship, she can also launch seaplane bombers to participate in aerial combat and attack submarines.
  • Friend or Foe?: In the Girl of the Whirlwind manga, when enraged, she'll attack her targets regardless of who or what is in the way. Just ask that poor I-class that got vaporized when it was trying to charge the destroyer shipgirls and crossed into the Re-class' line of fire. This is also why fellow Abyssals stay the hell away from her during their operations.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Able to target submarines and participate in every single phase of combat. Re-class is the bane of many players.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: While most of the Abyssals, save for Wo-Class, are covered in machinery and have an evil cyborg vibe, Re has a thick, eel-like tail extending from her lower back that ends in an animalistic head.
  • Nothing Up My Sleeve: In the Girl of the Whirlwind manga, Re-Class has a hidden cannon up her sleeve.
  • Scarf of Asskicking: Fits well for the most powerful standard Abyssal ship in the game.
  • Slasher Smile: Although some find that her grin looks more cheerful and friendly than malicious or threatening.

Aircraft Carriers

Light Carrier Nu-Class

  • Humanoid Abomination: Its gangling limbs give it the appearance of a stunted or underdeveloped Wo-class.
  • The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: The flagship variety can attack at night. Until Fall 2015 introduced Graf Zeppelin, who attacks with guns at night, none of the playable carriers could return the favour.
  • Took a Level in Badass: By the Spring Event of 2017, they appear in Elite and Flagship Kai version. As they can now attack further in range (listed as Very Long), they can perform "Opening Anti Submarine attack" making them a big threat in the battlefield.

Standard Carrier Wo-Class

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wo_class_1.png

  • Animal Motifs: She's commonly compared to a jellyfish or octopus.
  • Ascended Extra: She was obtainable as a pre-order bonus for the Kantai Collection deck in Weiss Schwarz.
  • Badass Cape: Sports an ankle-length cape and can put an incredible amount of hurt on your fleets via her airstrikes.
  • Boss in Mook Clothing:
    • The remodeled flagship variety, known as Black Wock Shooter. Double points that this variety can attack at night.
    • In Fall 2016 she gains a variant which carries Medium Bombers.
  • Composite Character: Wo-class doesn't seem to represent a specific type of Real Life carrier, which many speculated that she might represent several Allied Carriers depending on her form.
  • The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: Just like the Nu-class, the Flagship variety can attack at night and at medium damage/orange status. Woe betide an unfortunate admiral whose fleet fails to sufficiently damage a Flagship Wo-class, or one of the later upgrades...
  • Evil Counterpart: Speculated to be this to the Shoukaku-class.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Wo has a noticeably organic and alien visual aspect compared to the other Abyssal ships.
  • Pokémon Speak: Frequently depicted speaking like this. Otherwise her name is used as a Verbal Tic.
  • Sensual Spandex: Wears a tight bodysuit.
  • Staff of Authority: Wields what appears to be a walking stick or cane and deals damage by controlling planes.
  • Weaponized Headgear: The weird jellyfish-like thing on top of her head has guns attached to it and related works show it being able to launch planes from its mouth.

Transport Ships

Wa-Class

  • Body Horror: While most of the Abyssal ships are grade-A Nausea Fuel, Wa deserves special mention because not only does it look like her head has been removed and replaced, it also looks like she might be pregnant.
  • Chained by Fashion: Her arms are securely clamped to the larger Abyssal ship she's connected to.
  • Joke Character: While the Elite and Flagship versions are capable of dealing damage to lighter ships like Destroyers and Cruisers, most Wa-class ships merely serve as temporary distractions. However, that light damage they deal can sometimes mean the difference between victory and being forced to retreat due to critical damage. They also like to draw fire from your stronger ships that you would otherwise prefer to be aimed at something that can hurt you, like the escorting Ru or Ta battleships.
  • Piñata Enemy: There is even a daily and a weekly quest to hunt them down.
  • Stone Wall: They have pathetic firepower, outright non-existent for the most basic form. However, the basic form has more health than heavy cruisers and the stronger forms are on par with battleships.

Submarines

Ka-Class

  • Gas Mask Mook: Wears what appears to be a scuba diving apparatus.

Yo-Class

  • Man in the Machine: Her body pokes out from the inside of her rigging, which amounts to a large Abyssal maw with some propulsion strapped to the sides.

So-Class

  • King Mook: The toughest and strongest of the standard abssyal submarines with a stat to boot.
  • Mighty Glacier: They have as much HP as your Light Cruisers, but have very low evasion in return which can be a big problem without proper anti-submarine equipment.

PT Boats

PT Imp Pack

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pt_imp_pack.png

  • Body Horror: While the older one looks otherwise normal, the middle has her gun jammed to the inside of her mouth, forcing it to permanently open, while the youngest doesn't look like she has a normal head inside the helmet.
  • Enfant Terrible: They look like infants.
  • Fragile Speedster: Even moreso than any other Abyssals, as they have incredible evasion and low HP, and is just one good aim from oblivion. Good luck on landing a hit on them, though...
  • Gamebreaking Bug: During the first two days of their implementation, the mechanics that give an accuracy boost to destroyers' guns were not properly implemented, which made the Imps nearly impossible to kill as destroyers were unable to hit them. It got to the point where admirals had to rely on cruiser or battleship secondary guns, or even support airstrikes just to take them down. After the hotfix, the destroyers can now hit the PT boats... at about half of the time. Thankfully the destroyers can hit them reliably on subsequent events.
  • Giggling Villain: If they're attacking, they let out a giggle. You will hear it a lot.
  • Glass Cannon: Despite their fragility, the stronger forms can do torpedo cut-ins, which are incredibly damaging if they connect.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: The "eyes" on their helmets (think Wo's headgear) blaze blue and white.
  • Mini Mook: They're so small and quick to the point where the large caliber guns can barely hit them.
  • Terrible Trio: They're always encountered as a trio per enemy unit, which makes them the only Mook type Abyssal unit that appears in group.
  • Zerg Rush: While they are not that strong or durable, each pack contains three imps and there are usually two or more packs at a time. For example, in Fall 2015 E-3 on Easy mode, there is one node where you can get a battle with a Flagship I-Class and five PT Imp Packs, what would equal 15 imps in total.

Coastal Installations

Artillery Imp

The small Companion Cube of Installation-type Abyssal Princess, much like in Real Life where their duty is to protect Naval Bases or Islands such as Wake Island from naval invasion.
  • Body Horror: Its entire head is replaced by a gun turret, and its arms are metal-covered stubs.
  • Enfant Terrible: Wears what looks like a metal diaper, and the only exposed body parts are the legs of a baby.
  • Heavily Armored Mook: Unlike other installation-type enemies, they cannot be shotgunned with Type-3 shells, as they are considered hard targets, which Type-3 shells are ineffective against. Rocket barrages with the WG42 ship-to surface rocket launcher will work as usual, while Type 91 AP rounds will easily defeat their armor. Failing that, equipping your girls with Daihatsu Landing Crafts loaded with infantry and having them storm the bunkers is also a viable choice. They also take vicious damage from Land-based Bombers.

    Boss Units

The most powerful and human looking members of the Abyssal Fleet, these units are for the most part unique and guard specific key locations. Most are based on real-life locations.

  • Came Back Strong: Many of the Event bosses were fought and sunk multiple times during their respective events, growing more powerful each time.
    • Taken to new levels by Anchorage Princess, who returned two years after their initial debuts as ultra powerful Water Demon bosses for the Spring 2015 event.
  • The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: Many of them are capable of firing torpedoes and launching carrier based planes, in addition to having a standard attack, which is impossible for any player controlled ship. Some of the destroyer-types also fire opening torpedoes, which no player-usable destroyer can do.
  • Dying as Yourself: Implied by Midway Princess and Aircraft Carrier Princess's sinking line upon clearing the stage. As they spoke their Last Words, their voices change from the Abyssals' menacing echoes to a soft, human voice, as though they became free from the corruption, this seems to be a trend with the bosses now has all the new bosses since the summer 2014 event also do this for their sinking lines.
  • Evil Is Bigger: As demonstarted in Kancolle Arcade, the Installation Princesses are much (even magnitudes) taller than their seafaring counterparts and the Shipgirls, even the child-like cute-as-a-button Hoppou.
  • God Save Us from the Queen!: In Kancolle Kai credit, they all collectively called the Deep Sea (Abyssal) Queens.
  • Horned Humanoid: Many of them have horns, even in places that shouldn't make sense (for example, Airfield and Submarine Princess have horns on their lower back). Takes the whole "Horned Node" to a different level.
  • Mecha-Mooks: Unlike the regular abyssal units, which wear their ship weapons on their bodies, the bosses' weapons-at least the ones based on ships as opposed to installations-are represented as massive mechanical beasts.
  • Mighty Glacier : The Installation-type bosses in general. They're vulnerable to armor-piercing and Type-3 shells and has little to almost no evasion stat, but due to their high armor and invulnerability to torpedoes, as well as how the shell works, they're fairly difficult to subdue. The fact that the installations are often escorted with a battleship doesn't help matters.
  • Optional Boss: Any of the Event bosses.
  • Punny Name: The Demon and Princess characters in their names are all homophone ki, so those who have both Demon and Princess forms have their names pronounced the same (Isolated Island = Ritousei-ki. The Water suffixes on some of them are likely chosen because Sui (water) is close to Sei (purpose-built).
  • Tainted Veins: It seems a mark of a boss unit entering Turn Red phase is their gaining glowing veins or cracks along their skin.
  • Warrior Princess: Princesses are usually stronger than Demons. These Princesses lead Abyssal Fleet and accordingly kick ass. Even Destroyer Princess can shrug off the shelling from battleships and give out even worse beatings in retaliation toward your shipgirls.
  • Welcome to Corneria: All have at most 10 different voiced lines when encountered. However, they all have some variant of "Sink!".

Armored Carrier Demon/Princess

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/011_armored_carrier_demon_full.png
"I welcome you...with open arms..."
Armored Carrier Princess

First appearing as the boss of Stage 4-4, and returning in maps 5-2 and 5-4, the Armored Carrier Princess is the only Princess that did not debut during a seasonal event.

Given that 4-4 is a stand-in for the Battle of Madagascar, she probably represents the British carriers Illustrious or Indomitable. On the other hand, given that 5-2 represents the Battle of the Coral Sea, she could also represent the American carrier Lexington.

  • Full-Frontal Assault: She's wearing nothing but a very short sailor fuku top, and that gets ripped off entirely in her Princess form.
  • Slasher Smile: Sports a particularly vicious smirk in her Demon form.
  • The Battlestar: Sports a 16-inch twin gun mount in addition to her aircraft. The wiki even classifies her as an aviation battleship instead of a carrier.
  • Turns Red: When reduced to 25% health she loses her Slasher Smile and changes from Armored Carrier Demon to Armored Carrier Princess.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: In her Princess form, her Abyssal beast loses its arms and gets split in half, revealing more guns for the Princess to use.

Anchorage Demon/Princess

Voice: Iori Nomizu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/021_anchorage_demon_full.png
"Annoying..."
Anchorage Princess

The boss of May 2013 Event Maps 3 and 4. Initially appearing as a Demon, connected to a larger Abyssal Ship, she returns as the Anchorage Princess without it in the next map.

Appears as the first major boss in the anime.

  • Badass Long Coat: A black coat in her Demon form, it gets shredded when she turns into a Princess.
  • Horned Humanoid: One of the first Abyssal Princess who bares this, which later become a common trend.
  • Starter Villain: In the anime, she appears and is destroyed in the first episode.
  • Stripperiffic: In her Princess form, because her armor and clothes get torn up.
  • Turns Red: Starts the battle as Demon, attached to a hulking Abyssal ship with massive arms. After taking enough damage, she dumps it, becomes a Princess and attacks you herself.

Southern Demon/War Demon/War Princess

Voice: Ayana Taketatsu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/031_southern_demon_full.png
"I won't let you...pass here..."
Southern War Demon
Southern War Princess

The boss of August 2013 Event Maps 2, 3 and 4. First appearing as the Southern Demon at the end of Map 2, each progressive defeat sees her becoming more crazed and dangerous. Implied to be Yamato's Abyssal counterpart.

  • The Berserker: As seen from how many times she's fought, it makes an impression that she doggedly chasing after the shipgirls with reckless abandon much to her detriment. In the arcade game, her idle animation is roaring to the sky while her shelling animation has her swinging her arms wildly with each shot.
  • Evil Counterpart: Her overall appearance as the Southern War Demon is nearly identical to the standard design of the shipgirls.
  • Expy: While she may lack the glowing blue eye, she has Black★Rock Shooter's outfit and hairstyle.
    • Her Ocean Demon form has also been dubbed Abyssal Miku, courtesy of her impressive twintails.
  • Glass Cannon: Surprisingly has 10 armor in War Demon form. This means she can take damage with a very weak hit. Rumor has it that it was, in fact, a typo, supposed to be in the range of 100 (average boss armor is 100.).
  • Godiva Hair: In her final form. She'd be going Full-Frontal Assault if not for some scraps of her metal thong and her hair.
  • Power Fist: She wears some wickedly sharp metal claws with guns built into them.
  • Recurring Boss: She's second only to Battleship Symbiotic Princess in number of appearances, being fought three times in her debut event, showing up during the Fall 2013 event, and becoming a permanent addition as a boss for Maps 5-3 and 5-5.
  • Slasher Smile: Starts out as a Psychotic Smirk in her Southern Demon form, before evolving into a manic grin in her War Demon form.
  • Villainous Breakdown: When first encountered as the Southern Ocean Demon, she looks an evil knockoff of the shipgirls. In her second appearance, as the Southern War Demon, her Slasher Smile becomes more manic and she is attached to one of the larger Abyssal ships like the other Demons. By the time she shows up as the Southern War Princess, her smirk is completely gone and she's ditched the large Abyssal ship, but kept all of its guns.

Airfield Princess

Voice: Misato (Fall 2013 event), Shizuka Ishigami (Summer 2015 event)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/airfield_princess.png
"You shall sink... to the bottom... as many times... as necessary..."

The boss for the fourth map of the Fall 2013 event. Initially believed to represent Henderson Field on Guadalcanal, which was defended by the US Marines under General Alexander Vandegrift, her reappearance in other events as a representation of other Allies-used airfields has clouded the water somewhat.

The event map itself replicates the historical bombardment of Henderson Field by battleships Kongou and Haruna.

She returns as the boss of E-4 for the Summer 2015 event. And she's very, very angry.

  • Cloud Cuckoolander: Very often portayed as this, likely due to her unusual health status names in her battle ("minor damage" becomes "confused" for her). Ranges from being The Ditz to just completely weird.
  • Clothing Damage: After she starts taking damage, her leotard gets half-shredded and her runways start breaking apart.
  • Combat Tentacles: In the anime only, her runways are formed from wriggling threads growing from her back, which solidified into runways for her aircrafts.
  • Filler Villain: Her role in Winter Event 2016 is to launch land-based aircraft for one phase and nothing else. This means her only contribution in the map is to take potshots at the shipgirls so they will be in a less optimal condition in the next patrol boat node. It will be a well and good strategy, except one shipgirl that guarantees branching to her node (Kasumi) has AA cut-in in her second remodel that will shoot down all of her planes. The shipgirls are even skipping shelling her node.
  • Horned Humanoid: Sports a pair of short, round horns on the side of her head.
  • Leotard of Power: Frequently confused with a Thong of Shielding due being the same color as her skin. Her damaged model in Summer 2015 shows clearly that she is indeed wearing a leotard.
  • Logical Weakness: She takes increased damage from ships equipped with Type-3 anti-aircraft ammunition. While it seems strange at first, it's actually a reference to how historical Type-3 rounds worked.Explanation

Battleship(-symbiotic) Princess

Voice: Misato

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/battleship_princess.png
"Sink for me!"
Battleship Princess Kai

The final boss for the Fall 2013 event, where she is faced by the player's forces at Ironbottom Sound. She becomes a recurring enemy from that point on, appearing as an escort for the Isolated Island Demon during the Spring 2014 event, and two copies of her are part of the counterattack fleet during the Summer 2014 event. She shows up again as the boss of the Fall 2014 event's third map and has appeared in the Winter 2015 as the pre-boss for the third and fifth maps and the escort for Battleship Water Demon in the fifth map.

She is (loosely) based from the Yamato-class battleships, albeit with their gun caliber designated as 16-inches to to cover up her actual gun caliber. That being said, many people believe that she represents the Iowa-class battleships, since the latter is the closest thing to Battleship Princess as far as USN stand-in goes.

  • Badass Armfold: Does this in her Kai form.
  • Badass Cape: Gains a cape in Kai form.
  • Big Bad or The Dragon: Widely speculated as one or the other for the Abyssal Fleet since her debut, though it slowly wanes as subsequent event features even stronger bosses.
  • Boobs-and-Butt Pose: Her Summer form.
  • Combat Stilettos: While not very clear in her standard form, she is wearing high heels in her Kai form.
  • Degraded Boss: Subverted. Since her original appearance, she's appeared several times in regular nodes or as a sidekick to several bosses... but she remains just as dangerous and frustrating every time, if not more so, often preventing players' fleets from landing hits on the actual boss of the map.
  • The Dreaded: Seeing her picture show up when landing on a new node is usually enough to elicit an Oh, Crap!, even from experienced Admirals.
  • Horned Humanoid: Has a pair of short, upward curving horns on her forehead.

Seaport Princess

Voice: Yui Ogura

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/harbour_princess_2.png
"I told you... not to come... any... closer..."

The boss of the Spring 2014 event. She represents Port Darwin in Australia, which was attacked by the IJN on February 1942. Considered the weakest of the island/installation-type bosses introduced in the game events. She made her return as a permanent boss in early summer 2015, where she is the final encounter of map 4-5.

  • Cool Big Sis: Fanart likes to depict her as being motherly and affectionate to Northern Ocean Princess.
  • Femme Fatalons: Her claws are positively massive, although she doesn't use them to fight.
  • Gentle Giant: Her artworks with Northern Princess teases it, but her appearance in the arcade spells it out loud. She seems to think of her bestial, roaring rigging like a pet, scratching its chin to calm it down at the beginning of a fight and comforting it when they're destroyed in fiery explosion.
  • Hartman Hips: By far one of her more....noticeable traits.
  • High Collar of Doom: Her neck and part of her chest are covered by a black, metallic-looking collar of some kind.
  • Horned Humanoid: A long, curved horn in the center of her forehead.
  • Logical Weakness: See the Airfield Princess' entry.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Combined with Statuesque Stunner and Hartman Hips, Seaport Hime is a VERY curvaceous woman.
  • Spell My Name With An S: She's called both "Seaport Princess" and "Harbour Princess" among English speaking fans, as both are technically correct translations of her Japanese name.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Frequently portrayed as being very tall in fanart. Confirmed in the arcade 3D model. The Abyssal Princesses are larger than the shipgirls and Seaport Princess is about the same height, when kneeling. Her actual height might even taller.
  • Turns Red: Does this is 4-5 when the boss health gauge is down to one segment. Besides getting Clothing Damage in her CG, she also trades her aircraft in for 15-inch guns.

Isolated Island Demon/Princess

Voice: Yui Ogura

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/061_isolated_island_demon_full.png
"So... you've come... this far... very... well..."
Isolated Island Princess

The final boss for the Extra Operation of the Spring 2014 event. She represents the Wake Island Airfield, defended by forces of the US Navy and Marines during the Battle of Wake Island.

She makes a return appearance as an optional encounter during Summer 2015, before being a permanent boss in World 6-4 as a Princess.

  • Cleavage Window: In her Princess form, which is shaped like a heart. Whether or not she has it in her demon from is unclear due to her pose.
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: She's dressed up in an outfit like this, with a dress and bonnet with lots of frills, all in black.
  • Femme Fatalons: Her nails turn into black claws in her Princess form.
  • Hikikomori: Frequently portrayed as such in fanart, thanks to her name.
  • Horned Humanoid: Sports a pair of small black horns with red rings on the sides of her head, which get bigger in Princess form. though whether or not they're real or part of her bonnet is unclear. Princess has a third, really small horn in her forehead.
  • Kamehame Hadoken: Her arcade cut-in, she somehow manages to do this with her air squadron.
  • Proper Tights with a Skirt: Which gets accentuated with black thigh-high boots in Princess form.
  • Slasher Smile: Sports a vicious smirk.

Aircraft Carrier Demon / Princess

Voice: Saki Fujita

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/051_aircraft_carrier_demon_full.png
"Be wrapped in flames...and sunk instantly......!"
Aircraft Carrier Princess
Aircraft Carrier Princess Kai

One of the bosses introduced during the Summer 2014 event, encountered first during the initial map of the MI segment, before being fought again during the penultimate MI map. She also appears at the pre-boss node of the Extra Operation, the counterattack on the fleet girl HQ. She shows up again in the Fall 2014, Winter 2015, Spring 2015 and Summer 2015 events. She later returns as an optional encounter in map 6-1.

Both of her incarnations represent USS Yorktown. Her lines also hint that, much like with Akagi and Midway Hime, she's Kaga's Abyssal counterpart.

  • Beef Gate: She has a history of appearing in the pre-boss node of event maps, where she'll cheerily send Admirals scrambling back home with a heavily damaged ship (or several).
    • Thankfully this is no longer the case with the recent events, as she is completely absent from Fall 2015 Event. Though she is stationed at the Carrier Task Force branching route in the final map of Winter 2016 with several Wo-class flagships as a heavy deterrent against said branching route, her route can be skipped entirely by using Surface Task Force, where the Battleship Princess assumes this role instead.
  • Came Back Strong: After you defeat her in E-3 in her Demon form, she returns in E-5 as a Princess.
  • Giving Someone the Pointer Finger: In her Princess form.
  • Going Commando: As revealed in her Princess form.
  • Sailor Fuku: In her first form. It gets torn up when she reaches her Princess form.
  • Slouch of Villainy: Reclines comfortably on her ship parts.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: Well, side-tail anyway. Much like Kaga, lending credence to the idea that she is a fallen Kaga.

Northern Ocean Princess

Voice: Hisako Kanemoto

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/northern_princess.png
"Leave the Zero behind!"

The boss for the AL portion of the Summer 2014 event. She represents Dutch Harbor in Alaska, which was attacked by the IJN as part of a feint to lure some of the forces supposed to defend Midway Island. Suffice to say, it didn't work.

She makes a return as the guardian of the northern pre-boss node for World 3-5's Extra Operation.

  • Adorably Precocious Child: Commonly depicted as such in fanart.
  • Badass Adorable: Due to her relative power in-game, and overall popularity.
  • Catchphrase
    Leave the Zero behind!
    Go back!
  • Creepy Child: Being an Abyssal is enough reason, but the way she shifts from monotone when attacked to screaming when attacking is borderline Hell Is That Noise.
  • Happy Holidays Dress: As stated above, she's the only abyssal to have holiday CG, with her getting one on Christmas 2014 and Rainy season 2015. Subverted with Fall 2015 fishing event, however: she has CG update...except that said CG has her furiously waving her hand, basically telling the players "I don't have any fish here! Go away!".
  • High Collar of Doom: Her dress has a choker that covers part of her face.
  • Horned Humanoid: Short square ones, on the sides of her head.
  • Logical Weakness: See the Airfield Princess' entry.
  • Token Mini-Moe: The smallest, and by far cutest, of the Abyssal Princesses and Demons.
    • Little Miss Badass: And don't forget she has the firepower to knockdown a Battleship like Nagato herself.

Midway Princess

Voice: Ayako Kawasumi (game), Yoshiko Sakakibara (anime)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/midway_princess.png
"I've...got you..."

One of the bosses introduced during the Summer 2014 event, she represents the US Marine base at Midway Island itself, and the focal point of Operation MI. She's also hinted through her lines to be either the Abyssal counterpart of Akagi or at least her worst nightmare given physical form.

  • Climax Boss: Of the AL/MI operation and thus, the first season of the anime. The entire operation, which introducing the shiplocking diversion system, is to take her down. Her defeat in the anime is heralded by copious amount of Big Damn Heroes, to reflect the amount of ship girls needed in the operation. In 4koma, the Admiral initially sends her a gift as a Worthy Opponent before Yamato corrects him, thinking that she's the Abyssal's Big Bad because of this trope.
  • Damage-Sponge Boss: Sports 550 HP in her base form and 600 in her final, making her the most durable Abyssal in the game until the introduction of Central Princess.
  • High Collar of Doom: One that appears to be made of teeth growing out of her neck.
  • Horned Humanoid: Short, round horns on either side of her head, similar to Airfield Princess.
  • Logical Weakness: Same as the Airfield Princess - she's representative of a physical airbase, and consequentially has a weakness to Type-3 anti-aircraft ammunition (the 'why' of which is explained in the AP's entry).

Destroyer Princess

Voice: Ari Ozawa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/061_destroyer_princess_full.png
"The moon.. it is.. beautiful."

Introduced as the boss of E-2 during the Fall 2014 event. Devs aren't even trying to hide it: She IS the Abyssal counterpart of Harusame, referencing her historic counterpart that was sunk as the only casualty during the featured operation of the event map.

She returned as a permanent boss for the final node of map 6-3, added in early Summer 2015. And sure enough, Harusame is a possible drop when she's defeated.

  • An Arm and a Leg: Her legs are amputated just below the hips. She's typically portrayed as being able to hover via whatever those black pieces covering the remnants of her legs are. From the way her cannon looks, she also doesn't seem to have a left hand.
  • Born Lucky: She has 70 luck, which means she's practically guaranteed to get cut-ins or critical hits during night battles.
  • Sailor Fuku: A black, two-piece one.

Aircraft Carrier Water Demon

Voice: Ari Ozawa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/071_aircraft_carrier_water_demon_full.png
"You want to pass through...?"

The final boss of the Fall 2014 event. Much like Destroyer Princess, she is blatantly modeled after one of the player's ships, in this case Shoukaku, who sunk in the Battle of the Philippine Sea, which the fourth event map is based on.

  • Combat Stilettos: Sports some massive platform heels.
  • Giving Someone the Pointer Finger: She seems to be pointing her right hand toward something; exactly what is unclear, though it might be the shipgirls sortieing against her.
  • Graceful Loser: Indicated by her sinking line.
    ''Very well...You may...pass...
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. While she shares the same name as a previous Abyssal, as well as several design aspects, she's clearly modeled from a different base. In this case, Shoukaku, as opposed to the first Aircraft Carrier Demon being based on Kaga.
  • Sailor Fuku: A black one with ribbed fabric.
  • Slouch of Villainy: Her art shows her slouching against the back of her rigging like a chair.

Light Cruiser Demon

Voice: Ai Kayano

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/081_light_cruiser_demon_full.png
"Sink into the depths... which you can't surface from again!"

Introduced in the Winter 2015 event, the boss of the event's third map. It's speculated that she might be the composite counterpart of both Naka and Agano, whose real life counterparts were both sunk in the battle the event is based on.

  • A Head at Each End: Her lower body cuts into a giant Abyssal head.
  • Degraded Boss: She reappears in Spring 2015 E-3 and 4-5 as the flagship of a sub-node.
  • Composite Character: She combines Naka's hairstyle and voice with Agano's uniform, in reference to both ships being sunk at the Battle of Truk.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: She's mechanical from the waist down. Both Naka and the destroyer that rescued most of Agano's crew, the Oite, were hit by torpedoes and split in half before sinking.
  • Navel-Deep Neckline: Gains this after she suffers Clothing Damage - most of the front of her dress is missing, baring the skin down to her navel.
  • Nested Mouths: Her Abyssal ship parts reveal dozens of twisted maws when she takes heavy damage.
  • Slasher Smile: Sports a rather sinister grin in her first form. She loses it in her second in favour of a Death Glare and clenched fists.
  • Slipknot Ponytail: Her hair buns come loose when she takes enough damage.
  • Turns Red: Gains a buff in her stats when her health is nearly depleted, complete with a pissed-off looking new CG.

Battleship Water Demon

Voice: Ai Kayano

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/091_battleship_water_demon_full.png
"You useless... annoying...... pieces of trash!!"
Battleship Water Demon Kai

The final boss of the Winter 2015 and Spring 2015 events. Role-wise, she is meant to represent the Iowa-class battleships that participated in the attack on Truk Lagoon, specifically USS Iowa (who sunk Katori) and USS New Jersey (who sunk Maikaze).

Her lines hint that she's the Abyssal counterpart to Nagato, what with her reference to the atomic tests of Operation Crossroad.

  • BFG: While it wasn't shown in her sprites or given an image on its own, she is equipped with two 20 inch twin cannons, which in metric units is roughly equivalent to 51cm cannons that were planned for the A-150 battleship. Since the largest naval guns to be historically deployed didn't go any further than Yamato's 46cm guns, how she acquired such an absolutely massive gun is anyone's guess...
  • Chained by Fashion: She compliments her dress with spiky manacles on her wrists and ankles.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: While she herself isn't particularly small, she's completely dwarfed by her massive Abyssal beast, which resembles an eyeless two-headed gorilla.
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: Has elements of this in her design, mainly the frills at the base of her black dress.
  • Frilly Upgrade: Her dress gains some frills in her Kai, which also exposes her upper thigh.
  • Horned Humanoid: Sports a single, upward curving black horn on the right side of her forehead.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. Like Aircraft Carrier Water Demon, she shares a name and appearance with another Abyssal, in this case Battleship Symbiotic Princess, but has enough unique traits to mark her as a separate being, rather than just being a new form of an existing ship.
  • Turns Red: When her health bar is one kill away from full depletion. Like Light Cruiser Oni, her CG changes to reflect this.

Seaport Water Demon

Voice: Misaki Kuno

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/091_harbour_water_demon_full.png
"Will you try beginning...the Springtime battle...?"

Debuted in the Spring 2015 event as the boss of E-4. She was originally thought to be a beefed up version of Seaport Princess, but this was proved wrong when the actual Seaport Princess returned as a permanent boss in a later update.

  • Blood Knight: She's quite pleased that your fleet is able to give her a good fight.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Her sinking line is her simply admiring the sakura tree, fitting for a Spring season boss.
  • Face of a Thug: She seems to have a perpetual scowl on her face, which fandom has ran with as the scary older relative depiction.
  • Femme Fatalons: Each one individually is bigger than her torso.
  • Graceful Loser: Her sinking line has her quietly admiring the sakura blossoms, fitting for a Warrior Poet.
  • Horned Humanoid: A straight, round horn extending from her forehead.
  • Logical Weakness: Like all installation type enemies, she takes increased damage from Type Three Shells.
  • Mama Bear: Her considerable power, which rivals that of Battleship-Symbiotic Princess, and her solemn appearance have caused some fans to characterize her as Seaport Princess and Northern Ocean Princess's angry big sister/mother.
  • Sideboob: Her outfit doesn't entirely cover the sides of her bust, allowing a small sliver of sideboob to be seen on the right side of her sprite.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Same as the Seaport Princess, she's called both the Harbour Water Demon and the Seaport Water Demon depending on the translation.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Like Seaport Princess, she's very tall.
  • Warrior Poet: All of her lines are haiku.

Anchorage Water Demon

Voice: Mikako Komatsu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/301___anchorage_water_oni_kantai_collection_drawn_by_akira_kadokaw.png
"I... I can't fly... I can't fly anymore... Do you understand?... Hey...!!"

Debuts in Spring 2015 as the boss of E-5 and appears in one of the routes of E-6. She reappears again in Fall 2015 as an optional boss, escorted by PT Imp Packs this time around.

  • Achilles' Heel : If you have a submarine in your fleet, she'll keep sending airstrikes against the submarine to little effect, preventing her from attacking any surface ships throughout the day shelling phase, allowing the rest of your fleet to take out her escorts and then blast her into oblivion with Type 3 shells.
  • Bad Ass Long Coat: Has a white one.
  • Clothing Damage: In her final form. Her high collar has been torn away to expose her face, while her long coat has been partly shredded, exposing her legs.
  • Combat Sadomasochist: She lets out a creepy giggle when hit.
  • Horned Humanoid: Has a pair of sweeping, antler-like horns.
  • Laughing Mad: Giggles whenever she takes damage.
  • Logical Weakness: Like all installation type enemies, she takes increased damage from Type 3 Shells and related anti-ground weapons.
  • Turns Red: Does this when the gauge reaches kill zone. Like a few others, she drops her Abyssal beast and fights you directly.
  • Yandere: Fans seem to think this due to her way of speaking and her creepy giggles.

Seaplane Tender Princess

Voice: Shizuka Ishigami

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/101_seaplane_tender_princess_full.png
"It's fine, you know...? How about coming over to this side...?"

A boss introduced during the Summer 2015 event, and the final boss of map E-3. She is very obviously the Abyssal counterpart of Mizuho, who was introduced during the same update. Fittingly enough, Mizuho is also drawn by the Abyssals' artist.

  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: Seaplane is dressed in a manner resembling this, with her outfit resembling a massive black bow with a couple frills around the bust.
  • Femme Fatalons: Sports black metallic claws along with what looks like massive blades attached to her forearms.

Air Defense Princess

Voice: Akari Kitou

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/air_defense_princess.png
"How is it? Does it hurt? Does it? That's the real thing... Ahahahaha...!"

The final boss of Summer 2015. She is unmistakably the Abyssal counterpart of Teruzuki. Historically, she has no obvious World War II parallel, not least because the operation her map is named after never actually happened in real life, but her ridiculous Anti-Air stat has drawn comparisons to the late Cold War-era Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers and their Aegis Combat Systems.

  • Achilles' Heel: Her overwhelming defense is linked to the installations scattered throughout the map she is located - the Operation FS. Borderline a Puzzle Boss at best and SNK Boss at worst, the island installations throughout the map must be repeatedly attacked in order to gradually whittle down her defense and render her vulnerable, after which she must be subdued before the next daily reset, lest she regain her defense and the player has to stage further assaults to whittle down her defense again to defeat her.
  • Anti-Air: She has 390 in her anti-air stat, meaning any fleet she is in are pretty much impervious to initial airstrikes.
  • Degraded Boss: Two years after her introduction, she made her return in Fall 2017 Event as the first boss at E-3, with her armor reduced to around 270s. She still retains her absurdly high AA, though.
  • Nonstandard Character Design: She is the first humanoid Abyssal to not be drawn by the Abyssals' usual artist. Instead, Yoshinori Shizuma handled the art for her. In case you're wondering, he also does the art for the Akizuki-class.
  • Odd Name Out: The first Princess-tier Abyssal unit whose name isn't based on a ship class or type of installation.
  • Puzzle Boss: She initially had very high armour in the event, but by taking out the right minibosses (in other nodes on the map) multiple times you could lower her armour down to manageable levels. One had to hurry, though, as this effect reset at midnight JST every day.
  • Sean Connery Is About to Shoot You: One of her turrets is aiming at you.
  • Slouch of Villainy: Is notably slouched in her chair as shown in her official artwork, all the while smiling menacingly and aiming her guns at the viewer.
  • Smug Smiler: Her default expression is a damnable smirk.
  • Stripperiffic: Her clothing leaves pretty much her entire midriff and a good section of underboob on display, while her crotch is covered only by a thong-like bit of cloth and her legs.
  • Too Many Mouths: No less than four Abyssal mouths surrounding her, which also give subtle hints to the source of her extremely high armour.

Light Cruiser Princess

Voice: Saori Hayami

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/12_light_cruiser_princess_full.png
"There is...no way back...for you..."

A boss introduced in the Fall 2015 Event as the final boss of map E-2. As that map represents the Battle of Kolombangara, she might any of the cruisers from under Vice Admiral Walden Ainsworth's command, such as the HMS Leander. Appearance-wise, though, she is clearly Jintsuu's Abyssal counterpart.

  • Arm Cannon: A massive Abyssal thing replacing her left forearm with turrets and torpedo tubes.
  • Cowardly Lion: Despite her intimidating opening line night battle prowess, her attack line has a notable shake in it. It's Jintsuu's night battle line before her second remodel, when she's in her Shrinking Violet phase.
  • Cool Mask: One that covers everything from the nose up, has a pair of hornlike protrusions, and makes her look like Rider.
  • Target Spotter: The first abyssal to mount a searchlight.

Submarine Princess

Voice: Saori Hayami (original), Megumi Toyoguchi (Kai)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/011_submarine_princess_full.png
"So my prey have come.... Heh heh...Ha ha ha..."
Submarine Princess Kai
Submarine Summer Princess

A boss introduced in the Fall 2015 Event.

  • Achilles' Heel: Despite her rather intimidating appearance and menacing voice, she is still a submarine, and as such is just as vulnerable to ASW as any other submarine. Furthermore, she was first encountered in the Combined Fleet, which does not apply the scratch damage cap to ASW at night. Add in the fact that she does not have preemptive torpedo strikes like other submarines, and she is considered by many as an Anticlimax Boss.
  • Body Horror: After her armor breaks, she panics and claims that "water is leaking inside". As she's a submarine, it makes sense when she sinks, water leak is even worse than other ships. But if we takes it with the context that attacking sub with depth charges is basically sending shock waves to rupture their armor, the Princess's distress is less the usual damaged lines and more like her ribs are crushed by water pressure.
  • Companion Cube: Just like playable submarines, she babytalks her torpedoes. Seeing that those things might be partially sentient, she has more reason to baby her weapons.
  • Evil Laugh: She does it in her intro, unless you reduced her armor.
  • Large Ham: She is among the hammiest boss so far, especially when she is being attacked. Given her very high armor, you'll be hearing her writhing a lot.
  • Parasol of Prettiness: She gains a beach umbrella in Summer 2016.
  • Villainous Breakdown: After you reduce her armor, she sounds even more crazy.

Destroyer Water Demon

Voice: Saori Hayami

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/131_destroyer_water_demon_full.png
"The night...is actually...re...ally....scary...isn't it...?"

The final boss of the Fall 2015 event. As that map is a thinly-veiled representation of the Battle of Vella Gulf, she might represent one of the six American destroyers involved. Appearance-wise, she appears to be the Abyssal counterpart of Hagikaze.

  • Ascended Meme: Fanartists would often draw other Abyssals with their hats detached, such as Wo-class. This Abyssal's art confirms they are detachable.
  • Evil Laugh: When attacking.
  • Finger Gun: Her rigging's left hand is actually a torpedo launcher, with the fingers as the torpedo. This makes her as the Abyssal with the closest rigging equivalent for the shipgirls.
  • Multiarmed And Dangerous: She has a pair of large muscular arms protruding from her back.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: She is one of the few humanoid Abyssals not drawn by their usual artist. She's drawn by the same person who also draws Hagikaze, who is obtained after defeating her.
  • Puzzle Boss: As with Air Defense Princess, she had an armor-reduction mechanic, which is triggered by sending enough PT Imp Packs to Davey Jones' locker. The indication that she has had her armor reduced is when she appears without her helmet.
  • Tragic Keepsake: The blue ribbon she holds. It's the same ribbon that secures Kaga's muneate, as Hagikaze was Kaga's escort at the battle of Midway and the ship that scuttled her.

Supply Depot Princess

Voice: Megumi Nakajima

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/113_supply_depot_summer_princess_full.png
"My gathered... materials... I will not let you..have them..!"
Supply Depot Princess Summer Landing Mode

A boss introduced in the Winter 2016 Event. Based on Mindoro Island, she's the main target of the overall event.

  • Alternate Character Reading: Does her name means supply depot or chaining islands (archipelago)? As Mindoro Island was both in Operation Rei-Go, this might be intentional.
  • Braids of Action: Very long ones, as she circles it around her neck like a scarf. Might be Prehensile Hair too, as she has rigging attached to its end.
  • Butt-Monkey: As her map and her fight aren't really difficult and Okinami is a drop in her node in Winter 2016, many Admirals set their eyes on her as "bullying" target. She even exasperatedly shouts at the attacking shipgirls to just go away already now that her stockpiles are burning.
  • The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: She can launch closing torpedoes. Being an installation means that your girls cannot return the favour.
  • Damage-Sponge Boss:
    • Her base form has 600 health, equivalent to Midway Princess in her final form. The damage sponge is emphasized as her large HP pull means she takes a significant amount of Scratch Damage from destroyers.
    • Taken to ridiculous extremes in the Summer 2020 event; she's the first character to break 4 digits HP (maxing out at 2400 HP)
  • Evil Counterpart: As a bespectacled logistics manager with subpar combat capabilities, she's essentially the Abyssals' version of Ooyodo.
  • Logical Weakness: In addition to the standard installation-type weakness to Type 3 shells, she also takes greatly increased damage from the Wurfgerät 42 mortar launcher (on top of WG42's usual bonus against installation), most likely because she's sitting on a massive pile of fuel and ammunition.
  • Power Fist: Her hands are covered in gauntlets about as thick as her torso, which main purpose seems to be for an easier transport of her drums. As other official artworks shows, she has regular looking and somewhat dainty hands.
  • Turns Red: When her boss gauge is depleted, she gains new artwork and increased stats like other major bosses, but she also loses a massive amount of health, which is the first for boss unit, with more bosses (like Central Princess) getting the same treatment after Supply Depot Hime's introduction.

Heavy Cruiser Princess

Voice: Chinatsu Akasaki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/141_heavy_cruiser_princess_full.png
"Now...burn..."

The final boss of the Winter 2016 Event. Possibly an Abyssal counterpart to Zara, who is the reward for clearing the event, which would make her the first Abyssal to be the counterpart of a non-Japanese shipgirl.

  • Body Horror: Much like Ne-class, her guns are mounted on two tentacles jutting out of her torso.
  • Comically Serious: Other than her damaged art, her expression never really strays from a uninterested flat gaze, even when doing something silly like playing horsies with her own stomach tentacles.
    Rodeo...
  • The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: Despite being a heavy cruiser, she has opening torpedoes, something no player-controlled heavy cruiser has.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Her left stocking is grey and white striped, while her right is just solid white.
  • Horned Humanoid: Sports a long black horn on the left side of her forehead and a smaller horn on the right.
  • Large Ham: Once she suffers a Villainous Breakdown, she rivals even the Submarine Princess.
  • Navel-Deep Neckline: Her hoodie-dress unzips in the front to show off her breasts and midriff, though its mostly obscured by one of her tentacles.
  • Villainous Breakdown: She sounds very desperate in her final form, losing her smugness and begins to chew the scenery.

Destroyer Ancient Demon/Princess

Voice: Ayako Kawasumi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/151_ancient_destroyer_demon_full.png
"As I said... Making such a thing... What's the point of it!?"
Destroyer Ancient Princess

A boss introduced in the Spring 2016 Event. Appears to be the Abyssal counterpart to the Kamikaze-class, though she doesn't represent a particular ship.

  • Arm Cannon: Much like Light Cruiser Princess, she has a massive Abyssal creature with guns and torpedoes grafted onto her left arm.
  • Clothing Damage: In Princess form, in addition her hair bun gets undone.
  • Combat Stilettos: She wears high heels.
  • The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: Despite being a destroyer, she has opening torpedoes, something no player-controlled destroyer has.
  • Large Ham: Double points for her high pitched voice.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Wears traditional Japanese garb, unlike most Abyssals who tend to either wear very little or alien-looking bodysuits. In fact, she wears the traditional Japanese student outfit that the Kamikaze class wear to denote how much older they are than other destroyers.
  • Older Than They Look: Despite looking like a little girl, she is the Destroyer Ancient Demon. And she's the counterpart to the IJN's oldest destroyers, the Kamikaze-class.
  • Princess Curls: Sports a single curl on the right side of her head.
  • Proper Tights with a Skirt: Though a little hard to notice with her thigh-high boots.
  • Slipknot Ponytail: Though it's not visible to the viewer, she seems to have a hair bun on the back of her head that gets undone in her Princess form.

Lycoris Princess

Voice: Mamiko Noto

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/121_lycoris_princess_full.png
"Hm... To do things like floating here...or flying here... What busy folks."

A boss introduced in the Spring 2016 Event. She is a reborn version of Airfield Princess. As her flight deck clearly shows, she is based on Henderson Field after its rebuilding by the Allies in 1943 following the Battle of Guadalcanal.

  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: Much like Isolated Island Demon, though her dress is white with black trim.
  • Flower Motifs: The lycoris radiata, also known as the red spider lily. As can be seen from their boss gauge, the red spider lily is the "national" flower of the Abyssal Fleet.
  • Horned Humanoid: Sports two long horns growing from the side of her head.
  • Odd Name Out: The only Abyssal to have her name written in katakana.

Central Princess

Voice: Chinami Hashimoto

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/131_central_princess_full.png
"Why... just how... did you come here... Just... How...?"

A boss introduced in KanColle Kai, representing Pearl Harbour in Hawaii. She is the Abyssal counterpart to USS Arizona, armed with the same 16-inch Mk7 guns as the USS Missouri, which currently overlooks the Arizona Memorial. Like Iowa, she makes her browser game debut in the Spring 2016 Event.

  • Achilles' Heel: Unlike most other installations, she takes a massive amount of damage from airstrikes, specifically dive bombers. This is a slight reference to how USS Arizona was historically sank during the Attack of Pearl Harbor. It wasn't dive bombers that did her in though. She was sunk by torpedo bombers flying at high altitude dropping what were essentially the Nagato-class' 410mm AP shells from above right onto her deck.
  • Body Horror: Her damaged CG depicts her with large sections of her skin missing, exposing her nightmare-ish internals. Even her regular form doesn't really help; she doesn't seem to have a stomach wall, and instead her intestines are spilling out of her belly and connected to her riggings like placental tubes.
  • Body Motifs: She and her rigging are positioned to resemble a human heart, as Central Princess is at the heart of the Pacific and the Abyssal fleet, and represents perhaps the deepest grudge of the whole Pacific war; the sinking of USS Arizona during the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, which resulted in over a thousand deaths just from the ship itself and caused America to declare war on Japan, determined to avenge her loss (along with Oklahoma and Utah, plus damage to most other ships in port) by forcing Japan into unconditional surrender.
  • Damage-Sponge Boss: Has a whopping 800 HP in Kancolle Kai on the highest difficulties. Her final form in the browser game is even worse, going all the way to 900 HP in E-6 and sporting incredible amounts of armor, the highest of any Abyssal. Unless the player scores a Critical Hit with initial airstrikes, sinking her is practically impossible. Things get slightly easier in E-7, where her HP is slightly lower (850 HP in final form) and the player has access to land-based air support, and she gained vulnerability to land tanks.
  • Final Boss: Of KanColle Kai.
  • Full-Frontal Assault: She appears to be completely naked.
  • Tears of Blood: Well, tears of oil. They're a reference to the small oil leaks that still bubble up from the Arizona wreck's tanks, a phenomenon known as the Tears of the Arizona.

Harbour Summer Princess

Voice: Shuu Uchida

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/141_harbour_summer_princess_full.png
"What a foolish bunch you are..."

A boss introduced in the Summer 2016 Event. She represents Singapore.

Seaplane Tender Water Princess

Voice: Yumi Tanibe

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/181_seaplane_tender_water_princess_full.png
"You did well to find me... This is your reward......I will... be... your opponent!"

A boss introduced in the Fall 2016 Event. She's Commandant Teste's Abyssal counterpart.

Abyssal Jellyfish Princess

Voice: Shizuka Itō

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/abyssal_jellyfish_princess_normal_2.png
Armor Broken
"Stupid things.... Such foolish things.... On the shore.... Some day on the shore.... Sink into despair and die...."

The final boss for the Fall 2016 event. She's Saratoga's Abyssal counterpart. Her armor's appearance is based is based off the bow of the Saratoga's wreck, as seen here, with the Princess herself taking after the masses of corals and aquatic creatures growing on the ship.

  • Achilles' Heel: She takes massive damage from participants of Operation Crossroad (Nagato, Sakawa, Prinz Eugen, and Saratoga). Lampshaded in the 4koma featuring the Fall 2016 event.
  • Animal Motif: Jellyfish, with her dress resembling the bell and her hair resembling the arms.
  • Facial Horror: She appears to have metal melted over half her face.
  • Humanoid Abomination: Even more so than other Abyssal bosses.
  • Shown Their Work: Somebody clearly did their homework, because Jellyfish Princess very much resembles the wreck of the real Saratoga, which is still a popular diving site in Bikini Atoll. Her armor greatly resembles the ship's bow, down to the hole in the front, and the Princess's body is based on the sea life living in and on the hulk.

Abyssal Twin Princesses

Voice: Ayaka Imamura

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/201_abyssal_twin_princesses_full.png
"Not bad ... We'll pay you back double..."

The final boss(es) of the Winter 2017 event. They're the Abyssal counterparts of I-13 and I-14.

  • Angsty Surviving Twin: The damaged portrait for them shows the black one seemingly crying over the death of the white one.
  • Died in Your Arms Tonight: Their damaged portrait shows the black twin cradling the white twin in her arms and crying in anger over it.
  • The Dividual: Appropriately, Twindividuals. The Twin Princesses are two individuals who function as a single boss.I-13 and I-14 were designed to be completely identical, so they can't be told apart as a boss.
  • Military Mashup Machine: While they are classified as being aviation battleship, there is implication that they are meant to be a submersible aviation battleship. Considering that I-13 and I-14 were designed to be submersible carriers, it is basically adding a third type of ship into the mix.
  • Sexy Backless Outfit: Both of them wear a Sailor Fuku-like outfit with no backside.
  • Useless Useful Spell: They have a very high Torpedo stat and are equipped with a High-Speed Abyssal Torpedo (mod.2), which should let them launch opening torpedoes. Both of these are wasted because they're encountered in the main fleet of an Abyssal Combined Fleet, which doesn't participate in any torpedo phases. Subverted in night battles as the torpedo stat is added to her firepower to allow her to deal high damage.

Escort Princess

Voice: Yukina Shutou

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/211_escort_princess_full.png
"Even though... I was sleeping. Such ... boorish people..."

A boss introduced in Spring 2017 event. Abyssal counterpart of Kasuga Maru.

Northern Water Princess

Voice: Asami Seto

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/221_northern_water_princess_full.png
"Foolish... Sink into the freezing place...!"

The final boss of Spring 2017 event, who is also the Abyssal counterpart of Gangut.

  • Artificial Limbs: Her forearms and elbows are replaced by mechanical counterparts, completed with long spikes at the wrist and razor-sharp blades at the end of the fingertips.
  • Badass Cape: A big white fur cape partially covering her arms and rigging.
  • Blood Knight: Unlike many other Demons and Princesses who wish for nothing but the sinking of player's ship girls, she is more excited about the fight itself. When she is under attack, instead of screaming in pain or begging player's ship girls to stop, she proudly declares that she will never retreat.
  • Boisterous Bruiser: She always taunts the player ships, even after she gets a Villainous Breakdown.
  • Cool Crown: her final form reveals that she is wearing a black thorn-like tiara underneath the hat.
  • Full-Frontal Assault: Only slightly better than the Central Princess, she wears nothing from the thigh up save for the cover for her 'sensitive parts'.
  • Giant Hands of Doom: Her main weapon consists of six 12 inch guns in two triple turrets mounted on a pair of gigantic three-clawed robotic arms.
  • Godiva Hair: The only thing covering her breasts.
  • Large Ham: She is very loud, even more so than anything so far.
  • Thong of Shielding: Wears a black C-string thong smaller than the one worn by Southern War Princess.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Once her armor is broken, of course she will only get louder. Even more so when she is in final from.

New Submarine Princess

Voice: Hitomi Nabatame

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ss_new_submarine_princess_flagship_1736_full.png
"Eat these torpedos...!"

The first boss of Summer 2017 event.

  • Badass Adorable: Like the Northern Princess, she appears to be a young girl. She's also more than capable of sending your fleet running back home with heavy damage.
  • Beef Gate: She is this in the final map of Summer 2017, and how. The boss at that map was guarded by no less than four Princess-tier Abyssal flagships, and she is the one that is most likely to send your fleet running back.
  • Degraded Boss: She is the first boss of the event. Come E7, there are no less than three of them throughout the map, and you must go through one of her nodes, either to defeat the boss or attacking the enemy supply fleet or base. She even lampshades this when she was sunk at E1.
  • You Shall Not Pass!: In her boss introduction line.

French Battleship Princess

Voice: Yumi Tanibe

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bbv_french_battleship_princess_1745_full.png
"Get out of here..."

Another boss introduced in Summer 2017, She is the Abyssal counterpart of Richelieu. Likewise, Richelieu is the reward for defeating her.

  • Blood from the Mouth: In her damaged form.
  • Damage-Sponge Boss: She has 730 HP and even her weakest form has 196 armour, above daytime damage cap, while her toughest has 270, quite close to the night battle damage cap. This means that not much can deal good damage to her.
  • Gratutious French: Fittingly, her final sunk line features her referring to the player as "Mon amiral" (French for "my Admiral.)

European Princess

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bbv_european_princess_1755_full.png
"You've come here...? Are you an idiot... or a fool...?"

The final boss of Summer 2017 event.

  • Badass Cape: A plain white cape with elbow length veil underneath.
  • Battle Ballgown: She wears an armored dress with naval guns mounted on it.
  • Black Swords Are Better: She is holding a black sword loaded into an arbalest which doubles as flight deck.
  • Composite Character:
    • Her status as an aviation battleship with 15-inch note  dual purpose main guns and sonar implies that she is a composite of the three ships which the Unsinkable Sam was abroad (Bismarck, HMS Cossack and Ark Royal).
    • Given that her main guns are named "Abyssal 15-inch Late Model Twin Gun Mount" note  and she traded her sonar for torpedoes in her final form, it is also possible that she is a composite of Ark Royal and a British battlecruiser or battleship mounting such guns.
  • Cool Crown: Wearing a crown made of teeth, cementing her Lady of War appearance.
  • Damage-Sponge Boss: Has a whopping 880 HP in her final form, with an armor that is well above 200. Thankfully, after doing a debuff your fleet will engage her with a 1.3x damage modifier as long as your fleet secures Air Superiority over her fleet.
  • High-Class Gloves: A pair of partially torn black fingerless elbow glove with armor plates on left forearm, fitting with her regal appearence.
  • Lady of War: Unlike previous bosses, she has this appearance. It helps that she has a dolphin-like mechanical beast as her mount.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: She appears out of place compared to the other Abyssal bosses, looking like both Saber Lily and something straight out of Dark Souls at the same time.

Night Strait Princesses

Voice: Saki Fujita

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bbv_night_strait_princesses_1767_full.png
"You can't pass here... and we won't let you pass...!"

One of the final bosses of Fall 2017. They are the Abyssal counterparts of Fusou and Yamashiro, representing their regrets from their sinking at the Battle of Surigao Strait.

  • The Dividual: Twindividuals, as two different Abyssals who act together as a single boss. Fuso and Yamashiro were sister ships who were sunk during the same battle, and so presumably became Abyssals together.
  • Horned Humanoid: They both have mirrored horns.
  • Mighty Glacier: They have a whopping 800 HP with very high defense to boot. Furthermore, the battle against them begins at night in a Combined Fleet, therefore making it quite difficult to subdue her. Their speed is still 'Slow'.
  • Miko: Like Fusou and Yamashiro, in design only.
  • Prophet Eyes: Their eyes are an extremely pale shade of blue.
  • Villainous Breakdown: After the sister in white is gone, the sister in black begins to shout very loudly. Because during the real Battle of Surigao Strait, Yamashiro had one where she started firing her guns wildly in all directions.
  • Voice of the Legion: After they are defeated the final time, you can hear Fusou's voice return.
  • You Shall Not Pass!: Repeatedly declare this to the player's forces.

Entombed Anti-Air Guardian Princess

Voice: Saki Fujita

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bbv_entombed_anti_air_guardian_princess_1773_full.png
"I will...go and protect...!"

Final boss of Fall 2017. She is the Abyssal counterpart of Suzutsuki, based from the breakwater of said ship.

  • Action Dress Rip: Just enough to show her left thigh.
  • Chained by Fashion: Her arms are chained together. They break when she's sunk.
  • Declaration of Protection: Makes one, though it's unclear who she's referring to. It's quite possibly Yamato, who Suzutsuki escorted in Operation Ten-go.
  • Dragon Ascendant: She made her first appearance as the last flunky of the escort fleet for Night Straits Princesses, making the latter even more difficult to defeat in Normal and Hard Mode. After Night Straits Princesses is defeated, she becomes the second boss.
  • I Just Want to Be Free: In the end, all she wants is to drop the "entombed" part of her name and sail freely as Suzutsuki.
  • In the Hood: She wears a white hood.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: She is by far the most colorful Abyssal, and looks more like she just got straight out of Gundam or Final Fantasy. She's also not designed by the usual Abyssal artist (Akira), but the same artist who made Air Defense Princess.
  • Punny Name: A part of her name is a pun on "lost child". This is in reference of Suzutsuki being was presumably lost in action after Operation Ten-go, as well as her loss of gyrocompass and navigational charts from aerial torpedo from said operation.
  • Spikes of Villainy: Her turrets have horn-shaped spikes on them.

Canal Princess

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/171_canal_princess_full.png

Another boss introduced in KanColle Kai, this time representing the Panama Canal.

Floating Fortress and Escort Fortress

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/00_floating_fortress_full.png

These two are assistant ships that appear alongside the bosses. They aren't human-like, but they are a common sight when fighting against installation bosses and in the official art. They are depicted as a floating mouth with horns.

  • Attack Drone: The arcade portrays them as this.
  • Fake Ultimate Mook: While they are unique enemies that often accompany bosses, they are no tougher than a Ri-class flagship - a heavy cruiser. Other than their ability to launch planes.
  • Odd Name Out: The only boss units that are not a Demon or Princess, and are not even remotely humanoid.
  • Taking the Bullet: In the Arcade, they will block projectiles and torpedoes that are fired from your ships to defend their boss. Generally, you can't attack the boss directly because of this, but if you're lucky, sometimes your attacks may pierce through them and hit the boss anyway.

Dock Princess

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/abyssal_dock_princess.png
Oh my... thank you for coming...such a faraway place...

E-4 boss of the Fall 2018 event. She's Maestrale's Abyssal counterpart.

  • Logical Weakness: She's counted as an Installation and shares the strengths and weaknesses noted on other installations' pages. And she's an installation because Maestrale was docked when sunk, so attacking her means attacking the port she's at.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Has a lot of purple in her design.
  • Shown Their Work: The reason she's a dock princess is that Maestrale was docked in Genoa for repairs when Italy signed an armistice with the Allies and was scuttled there so that Germany couldn't use her.

German Escort Princess

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/german_escort_princess.png
I don't... like...battles...at all...

A Fall 2018 boss. Scharnhorst/Shin'you's Abyssal counterpart.

  • Desperate Plea for Home: Comments that she just wants to go back home.
  • Eerie Blue Eyes: Her eyes glow light blue.
  • Horned Humanoid: One horn, mirroring Escort Princess's.
  • Identical Stranger: To Escort and Hi Convoy Princess. She's the third Taiyou-class.
  • Noodle Incident: Mentions that the player's attack is nowhere near as bad as "that night sea." That being the night Shin'you was sunk guarding a convoy.
  • Pirate Parrot: With the 'parrot' being an Abyssal plane.
  • Reluctant Warrior: Repeatedly complains that she doesn't like battles, but it's not like the player is giving her any choice.
  • Stripperiffic: Wears the same (lack of) clothes that Escort Princess does.

Escort Water Princess

Voice: Shuu Uchida

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kc_escort_princess.png
"No matter how many shots... you fire at me...... that's. useless......"

E-4 boss of Winter 2018. She is the Abyssal counterpart of Gambier Bay, given her map is the Battle of Leyte Gulf and the Battle of Samar is where Gambier sunk, plus Gambier is the reward of that map.

  • Historical In-Joke: One of her lines has her politely beg the player's forces to just turn back for home after defeating her instead of going on to complete their objective; a rather unlikely thing for a player admiral, but that's essentially how Taffy 3 won the Battle Off Samar- the Center Force had sunk multiple ships including Gambier Bay, had the escort group dead to rights, and could've pressed on to attack the landing forces as intended... but at the cusp of potential victory, Admiral Kurita (believing that he was facing a major American force and that reinforcements were inbound) decided to turn back, leaving Taffy 3 the rather startled victors of the day.
  • Scary Teeth: Even her flight deck has teeth.
  • Slasher Smile: She looks quite happy to be aiming her planes at the player.

Abyssal Crane Princess

Voice: Iori Nomizu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/291_abyssal_crane_princess_full.png
"You have carelessly come... Ha... How foolish... or perhaps, you've come...to be sunk!"

E-7 boss of Winter 2018, and thus the final boss of Phase 1 Kancolle. She is Zuikaku's Abyssal counterpart.

  • Composite Character: She is mostly Zuikaku, but she also has elements from Musashi and Zuihou.
  • Damage-Sponge Boss: With 800 HP and armor above 220, she is quite a tough opponent to bring down.
  • Large Ham: She likes to scream many things out loudly.
  • Villainous Breakdown: She loses her cool in her final form, and chews the scenery even more.

Northern Little Sister

Voice: Haruna Asami

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/161_northern_little_sister_full.png
"Leave them... there... Give me... your lives... AHAHAHAHAHA!"

The second E-3 boss of Spring 2019.

Abyssal Pacific Princess

Voice: Haruna Asami

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/361___abyssal_pacific_hime_kantai_collection_drawn_by_akira_kadoka.png
"You're...a nerve coming here... I'm glad! I welcome you... with my all power...!"

The second E-5 boss of Spring 2019. She is Colorado's Abyssal counterpart.

Abyssal Mediterranean Princess

Voice: Yurika Moriyama

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/371___abyssal_mediterranean_hime_kantai_collection_drawn_by_akira_kadokawa__8f156e28c.png
"How amusing..amusing..amusing!! Congratulations! But this is the end!... What that lies beyond this... is nothingness!"

The second E-2 boss of Summer 2019. Duca degli Abruzzi's Abyssal form.

  • Bizarre Alien Biology: Her "tail" is less of a tail and more like a fully formed two-headed mermaid who is attached to her between the gaps of the creature's two heads.

Anzio Princess

Voice: Ari Ozawa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/442_anzio_princess_ii_full_2.png
"I have to discipline you thoroughly..... Here I go!"
Armor Broken

E-3 boss of Summer 2019. Janus' Abyssal counterpart.

  • Historical In-Joke: 'Anzio' is a town in Italy and the location of an Allied campaign. It's also where Janus was sunk by a Fritz X bomb while supporting the beachhead.
  • 24-Hour Armor: Her armor completely covers her body, leaving nothing but her hands on display. As this is her default state, it's reasonable to assume this trope is in effect. Averted in her second form, where the armor is reduced to a hat, her torpedo launchers, and something like an armoured corset.
  • Slasher Smile: Sports a menacing smile in her "armour broken" form.

Batavia Princess

Voices: Kaori Nazuka and Megumi Toyoguchi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/401___batavia_hime_kantai_collection_drawn_by_zeco__7eaec0245bbf89d7365e7d07d09f1512.png
"We're sorry, but we will be your opponent... Bring...it on!"

The second E-4 boss of Fall 2019. She is Houston's Abyssal counterpart.

  • Tentacled Terror: Her "rigging" consists a pair of giant Nautilus judging by their shells, although their tentacles aren't as terrifying compared to some of the other princesses due to being shorter.

Anti-Air Cruiser Princess

Voice: Kaori Nazuka

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/431_anti_air_cruiser_princess_full_8.png
"You... You made me mad... I have been seething...! I shall confine you here...!"

Final boss of Fall 2019 on the E-6 map. Fittingly enough, she's Atlanta's Abyssal counterpart, where you're rewarded with Atlanta.

  • Body Horror: Her hands appear to have been replaced by giant crab claws.

Abyssal Nimbus Princess

Voice: Yumi Tanibe

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/341___abyssal_nimbus_hime_kantai_collection_drawn_by_akira_kadokawa__7ae49fa015997636.png
"Now you've done it...you silly girls!"

E-1 boss of Winter 2019. The Abyssal amalgamation of both Murasame and Minegumo, as her name is a direct translation of 深海雨雲姫, which contains the word 雨雲, comprising of the last kanji of Murasame (村雨) and Minegumo (峯雲).

Abyssal Sun Princess

Voice: Yume Miyamoto

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/331___enemy_aircraft_and_abyssal_sun_hime_kantai_collection_drawn_by_akira_kadokawa.png
"You won't pass...you won't reach...you can't save...I'm telling you!"

E-3 boss of Winter 2019. Heavily implied to be Nisshin's Abyssal counterpart.

  • All-Encompassing Mantle: Her robes shroud the majority of her body, and she's certainly got the authority to match.
  • Eyes Always Shut: While it's difficult to tell due to the lighting and her White Mask of Doom, her eyes seem to be shut in her default form. Her damaged form has her open them in a Death Glare, revealing them to be glowing blue.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: When she becomes Damaged, the Sun Princess starts flashing an impressive Death Glare that reveals her eyes to be glowing blue.
  • Meaningful Name: The Abyssal Sun Princess sports a reddish-orange, sunset-like glow around the majority of her body and rigging. It's also a reference to Nisshin's name, which contains the kanji for "Sun".
  • Miko: While she's not shown doing anything particularly Miko-like, her long-sleeved garments and attire definitely invoke the image of one. It's also a hint to her identity - Nisshin is also designed with this aesthetic in mind.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: An odd subversion - while her default form lacks any, her damaged form has her robes splitting apart to reveal what appears to be many teeth within them.

Abyssal Kuriles Princess

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/421___abyssal_chishima_hime_kantai_collection_drawn_by_shibafu_glock23__4d46d25999a8b.png
"You don't want to sink...in these cold waters ...do you?"

E-1 boss of the Rainy-Summer 2020 event. She's Usugumo's Abyssal counterpart, and likewise, Usugumo is the reward.

Gotou Islands Seabed Princess

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kc_gotou_islands_seabed_princess.png
"What are you doing here? Don't wake me up... I like...this place...!"

E-3 boss of the Rainy-Summer 2020 event. She is I-47's Abyssal counterpart. Likewise, I-47 is the reward for defeating her.

Destroyer Forest Princess

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/411___coppice_destroyer_hime_kantai_collection_drawn_by_shibafu_glock23__0ba421a643d1.png
"Huh...? You told you're not alone? And told... have got friends? So...what? I will crush... and send you into the abyss... Bring it on...!"

E-4 boss of the Rainy-Summer 2020 event. She is the Abyssal counter part of Matsu, as Matsu-class destroyers got the nickname 雑木林 (zoukibayashi, literally "grove of mixed trees"), with the last kanji translating to "forest."

New Southern Battleship Princess

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/451_new_southern_battleship_princess_full.png
"I'll shoot down those feeble mosquitoes... Fisticuffs... hurts... dark... It’s dazzling... So dazzling! Hah... AHAHAHAHA!"

E-6 boss of the Rainy-Summer 2020 event. She is South Dakota's Abyssal counterpart.

  • Giant Enemy Crab: She rides a large crab-like creature that carriers her turrets.
  • Go into the Light: Mentions a light when she's sunk.
  • Historical In-Joke: Her lines have several referring to South Dakota's most famous action, the Battle of Guadalcanal.
    • She tells her opponents to sink to the "iron bottom"; this is Ironbottom Sound, location of multiple naval battles and called that because of the many shipwrecks dotting its depths. South Dakota fought in one of those naval battles.
    • She angrily tells the player that she's not like "that deserter", with the "deserter" being Washington, who was separated from South Dakota during the second night battle of Guadalcanal, and whom the crew of the real life South Dakota blamed for abandoning them to face Kirishima.
  • I Shall Return: If sunk in her non-damaged state, she'll say that she's retreating because she has no electricity, but unlike a certain other battleship she fought with, she isn't running away and will be back.

South Pacific Aircraft Carrier Princess

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/391___south_pacific_aircraft_carrier_hime_kantai_collection_drawn_by_konishi_koconatu_1.png
"Hmm... Welcome... to this sea... East of the Solomon... Santa...Cruz... Fufu... hehehehehehehe...! I welcome you... I was... I was waiting for your arrival..."

Final boss of the Rainy-Summer 2020 event on the E-7 Map. She is Hornet's Abyssal counterpart.

  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Being sunk in her base form will have her begging for a tow. The real-life Hornet was towed by Northampton after sustaining serious damage from a torpedo bomber attack, but had to be abandoned when a second attack hit home.
  • Historical In-Joke: One of her lines has her yell out "Shangri-la!" To preserve the secrecy of the Doolittle Raid, President Roosevelt said that the bombers were launched from the completely fictional land of Shangri-la, while in actuality Hornet launched them.
  • Threatening Shark: Her "rigging" takes the form of a hammerhead shark.

New Battleship Princess

Voice: Yuka Ootsubo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kc_new_battleship_princess.png
"Did you come...? I've waited for you... I wanted to fight here too as much as I could... You know the feeling, don't you? Hey!!"

Final boss for the E-3 Map during the Fall 2020 Event. She is Washington's Abyssal counterpart.

  • Age-Inappropriate Dress: She wears form-fitting pants and a top that only barely covers her chest despite looking like a young child.
  • Enfante Terrible: She resembles a child, even though her counterpart is an adult.
  • Giant Enemy Crab: Her mount resembles a large crusteacean.

Abyssal Bamboo Princess

"The Tokyo Express...? HAHHAHAHAHAHAHA! You rat bastards! None of you will get past me... I'll sink every last one of you!"

The boss for the E-3 Map during the Spring 2021 Event. She is fittingly Northampton's Abyssal counterpart, where Northampton is the reward for the E-3 Map.

  • Shown Their Work: Both the event name "Clash! Night Battle off Lunga" and her name references Lunga Point, the coast where US Marines landed on prior to the start of the Guadacanal campaign. An operation Northampton assisted in, and fairly close to the location of her wreck.
  • Tentacled Terror: Her "rigging" consists a pair of extinct giant Orthoceras judging by their shells, as well the one she wields like a lance.

New Light Cruiser Princess

"Your plans... I'll lay them all to waste! ...Now then, shall we get started...? Bring it on...!"

The boss for the E-5 Map during the Spring 2021 Event. She is fittingly Honolulu's Abyssal counterpart, where Honolulu is the reward for the E-5 Map.

  • Cool Crown: Wears a black, spiked tiara.
  • Shown Their Work: Her sinking line of having her bow blown off references to how Honolulu lost her bow but survived at the Battle of Kolombangara. Further tying in how she is Honolulu's Abyssal counterpart, the flowers around her neck and wrists are that of Hawaiian hibiscus, the Hibiscus brackenridgei being Hawaii's state flower.

Mediterranean Dreadnought Water Princess

Voice:

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kc_mediterranean_dreadnought_water_princess_v2.png
"So you've come deep into the Mediterranean. You still came despite the heat. I'll be your opponent! Don't underestimate me!"

The boss for the E-2 Map during the Summer 2021 Event. She is fittingly Conte di Cavour's Abyssal counterpart, where Conte di Cavour is the reward for the E-2 Map.

Armor broken

The boss for the E-3 Map during the Summer 2021 Event. She is fittingly Victorious' Abyssal counterpart, where Victorious is the reward for the E-3 Map.

  • Spikes of Villainy: Revealed by breaking her armor.
  • Stripperiffic: Her 'armor', aside from the helmet (which is basically Wo-class headgear), covers very little.

Submarine Shark Water Demon

Voice:

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kc_submarine_shark_water_demon.png
"Humph! You've come here to be sunk with stupid faces... Just like you wanted, I'll sink ya all!"

The boss for the E-3 Map during the Fall 2021 Event. She is fittingly Scamp's Abyssal counterpart, where Scamp is the reward for the E-3 Map.

  • Super Swimming Skills: As befitting of a submarine, she wears a one-piece swimsuit.
  • Threatening Shark: She's the Submarine Shark Water Demon. Ironically, she isn't a counterpart of the submarine USS Shark.

Hi Convoy Princess

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hi_convoy_princess.png
Failures... learning and innovating based on them... show me what you got!

The boss of map 7-4.Thought to be Un'you's abyssal counterpart.

  • Face Death with Dignity: When sunk, she simply accepts that the player has learned her lesson and hopes her sacrifice was meaningful.
  • Identical Stranger: She looks a lot like Escort and German Escort Princess, just with no horn and different hair. This is because they're counterparts to sister ships- Escort Princess is Kasuga Maru/Taiyou, Hi Convoy Princess is Yawata Maru/Un'you, and German Escort Princess is Scharnhorst/Shin'you.
  • Shown Their Work: The HI Convoys were a series of Japan-to-Singapore trade convoys that Un'you occasionally escorted; Un'you sank while escorting HI-74 after being hit by torpedoes from USS Barb.
  • Trickster Mentor: Some of her lines imply that she's only fighting the player's forces to teach them how to properly fight the Abyssals.

Abyssal Plum Princess

Voice:

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kc_abyssal_plum_princess.png
'"Oh well... Even if you across that strait... this plase is the end point! I won't let you! SIIIINK!"'

Yokohama Wharf Princess

Voice:

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kc_yokohama_wharf_princess.png
"Hey... I guess those were useless things... Hey... Do you think so!?"

The boss for the E-3 Map during the Winter 2022 Event. She is Yamashio Maru's Abyssal counterpart, where Yamashio Maru is the reward for the E-3 Map.

  • Historical In-Joke: She's the Yokohama Wharf princess because Yamashio Maru was sunk in port at Yokohama, never seeing combat.

Abyssal Jade Princess

Voice:

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kc_abyssal_jade_princess_base.png
"It's cold into the sea... Right? You, sink here once then..."

Armor broken

The boss for the E-3 Map during the Spring 2022 Event. She is Hayashio's Abyssal counterpart, where Hayashio is the reward at the E-2 Map.

  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Her rigging gives her an extra pair of arms, which would allow her to punch while her main hands shoots.

Modernized Battleship Princess

Voice:

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kc_modernized_battleship_princess.png
"I'll sink...you all together...here...!"

The boss for the E-5 Map during the Spring 2022 Event. She is Maryland's Abyssal counterpart, where Maryland is the reward at the E-5 Map.

Fast Light Carrier Water Demon

Voice:

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kc_fast_light_carrier_water_demon.png
"What...? You wanna fight to me? That's interesting... Then... Come and get it! Ah...HAHAHAHAHAHA...!"

Final boss for the E-3 Map during the Summer 2022 Event. She is fittingly Langley's Abyssal counterpart, where Langley is the reward for the E-3 Map.

  • Artificial Limbs: Her arms and legs seem to have been replaced with metal prosthetics, with the metal arms ending in vicious claws.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Her eyes glow red, and the 'warning' is a given since she's an Abyssal boss.

Prototype Carrier Princess

Voice:

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kc_prototype_carrier_princess.png
"I...will guard this sea. You guys...go back, to own sea! "

Final boss for the E-5 Map during the Summer 2022 Event. She is fittingly Ranger's Abyssal counterpart, where Ranger is the reward for the E-5 Map.

  • Historical In-Joke: She tells the kanmusu to go back to their own sea and leave her to guard her own because the majority of naval battles in World War 2 took place in the Pacific (making it the home of most of the game's shipgirls), while Ranger was stationed in the Atlantic because the USN didn't think she could face the IJN's veteran carrier force, while in the Atlantic she had no fellow carriers to contend with as Graf Zeppelin and Aquila were never completed.
  • Take My Hand!: One is offered to her when she finally sinks.

Incomplete Battleship Princess

Voice:

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kc_incomplete_battleship_princess.png
"How daring of you to come...! I'm so happy... On n'a rien sans rien......!" note

Final boss for the E-6 Map during the Summer 2022 Event. She is fittingly Jean Bart's Abyssal counterpart, where Jean Bart is the reward for the E-6 Map.

  • Gratuitous French: Several of her lines include French. Appropriate, considering that she's Jean Bart's Evil Counterpart.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Similar to the Re and Wo-classes, she has an overtly biological motif as opposed to the "Evil Cyborg" look of other Abyssal bosses. She also seems to have borderline translucent skin as opposed to the Undeathly Pallor most Abyssals sport, complimenting her octopus theme.
  • Tentacled Terror: Her "rigging" consists that of giant octopus arms.
  • Worf Had the Flu: Invoked if she's sunk in her base form, saying that the player was able to sink her because she was incomplete. The real Jean Bart couldn't use half her guns when she was attacked during Operation Torch, so she does have a point.

Remodeled Wartime Cargo Princess

Voice: Matsuoka Misao

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kc_remodeled_wartime_cargo_princess.png
"Humph! You attacked us again despite your bitter experience... I...avenge you... here... clearly...! Come on...!"
Armor broken

Final boss for the E-3 map during the Early Spring 2023 Event. Fittingly, she's Kumano Maru's Abyssal counterpart.

  • The Battle Didn't Count: If hit or sunk without having her armor broken, she declares that it didn't count due to her being camouflaged. After her armor is broken, she'll treat it as if she were really sinking.
  • I Just Want to Be Free: Some of her lines have her complaining that she just wants to sail freely around the ocean, mirroring Kumano Maru's desire to actually fight as a warship.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Default red eyes, although they change to blue once her armor is broken.
  • Slasher Smile: Sports one in her default state, but loses it when her armor is broken.
  • Take My Hand!: Her sinking line has her lament that she just wanted to sail the ocean, only to find that someone is reaching out to her - presumably the player, as she is reborn as the shipgirl Kumano Maru.

Abyssal Heavy Cruiser Water Princess

Voice:

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kc_abyssal_heavy_cruiser_water_princess.png
"Like you... How can you possibly protect this island... and those islands?! After I rob off this, I’ll get your lives next time..!"
Damaged form

Final boss for the E-5 map of the Early Spring 2023 Event. She's appropriately Tuscaloosa's Abyssal counterpart.

Abyssal Stranded Landing Princess

Voice:

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kc_abyssal_stranded_landing_princess.png
"There's no fear on your way but what may happen on your way back…? HAHAHAHA! I won’t let you go back...! Die...! Die after your sinking here...! Hehehehehe...he..."
Armor broken

Final boss for the E-6 map of the Early Spring 2023 Event. She's appropriately the Abyssal counterpart to No.101 Transport Ship.

  • Defiant to the End: She is stranded where she is, but boasts that it doesn't matter as she has already landed her troops and won't let you at them. Though when she actually sinks, she's instead happy to join the Admiral's fleet.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: Her default look.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Her attitude at sinking is pride in the fight she managed to give the shipgirls.
  • Heel–Face Turn: She willingly joins forces with the Admiral when they make the offer after she's defeated.
  • Horned Humanoid: Has small horns.
  • Ironic Nursery Rhyme: Her first line quotes Toriyanse (roughly translates to 'you may enter'), a Japanese children's song.

Abyssal Kushiro Cloud Princess

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/380px_enemy_full_abyssal_kushiro_cloud_princess.png
"This sea is cold... You... should sink here... same as me...! That's it... You should be exposed to torpedo attacks.... I'll give you a lot of them...!"

Boss of the E-4 Map in the 2023 Summer Event. Fairly obviously Shirakumo's Abyssal counterpart, where Shirakumo is the reward for clearing the map.

Standard Type Battleship Princess

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kc_enemy_full_standard_type_battleship_princess.png
Armor broken

Boss of the E-5 map in the 2023 Summer Event. She is appropriately Nevada's Abyssal counterpart, Nevada being the rewards for clearing that map.

  • Fiery Redhead: Her fire-like hair starts glowing red when her armor is broken.
  • Gratuitous English: A few of her lines are in English; after all, Standard-type Battleships were an American innovation.
  • Kicking Ass in All Her Finery: Pairs very big guns with a very nice gown.
  • Shown Their Work: Standard-type Battleships were the USN non-fast battleships, which were given a 'standard' set of specs so they could work together more cohesively. USS Nevada was the first Standard Battleship.

Fortified Pillbox Princess

Voice: Tanibe Yumi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/enemy_full_fortified_pillbox_princess.png

EO boss in the Summer 2023 event. She is based on the German fortifications on the French coast, attacked as part of D-Day.

  • Barbie Doll Anatomy: Her breasts are in plain view, but there isn't much on them.
  • Body Horror: Her Abyssal monster has her guns in place of its face, with the barrels in place of its tongue. Its teeth are still very present.
  • Full-Frontal Assault: An odd case, as it seems she has some features of clothing built into her body (she notably has no neckline, sleeve line, or upper boot line), to the point that it's hard to notice that she has high heels and what seems to be a skirt. She's also wearing a veil.
  • Horned Humanoid: With the horn replacing one of her eyes.
  • Laughing Mad: Laughs upon being defeated and realizing that she's failed to prevent the Normandy landings.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Her eye glows red.
  • Slasher Smile: It's hard to tell at first, but she is pulling one.
  • Subverted Catchphrase: She tells you to sink into the sand, not the sea, since she's defending Normandy beaches.

European Little Sister Princess

Voice: ???

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/800px_enemy_full_european_little_sister_princess_7.png

The Summer 2023 E7 boss. Rodney's Abyssal counterpart.

  • Catchphrase: Likes to call your shipgirls "Cocky".
  • Meaningful Name: Rodney was commissioned after Nelson, and is thus Nelson's 'little sister'.

Event-exclusive ships

The Fleet of Fog

During the Fall 2013 Anime season, the anime Arpeggio of Blue Steel aired, coinciding with much of Kantai Collection's rapid rise in popularity and recognition. Naturally, a collaboration between the two franchises was inevitable. It started with a few endcards in the anime with some Arpeggio ships paired with their KanColle counterparts, and culminated in a crossover event in the KanColle game running from 24 December 2013 to 8 January 2014. During this time, certain ships from the Fleet of Fog were usable as temporary allied units and certain others acted as enemy, which both types were removed when the event ended.

All ships of the enemy!Fleet of Fog retained their anime voices, had hourly lines The ship library did not include them either. They also retained their personalities, and a number of their lines were references to the anime (although there was no mention of Gunzou).

For the tropes depicting the Fleet of Fog in the Arpeggio anime, please see here. For the tropes depicting the allied Fleet of Fog, please see here.
  • Acting for Two: Inevitable for Takao and Haruna. As those two act as temporary allies as well as enemies.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: Some of them has this equipment.

Kongou (fog): "I will show you the difference between Mental Model and Fleet girls. Sink!!"
Kongou (fog): "Annoying. I'm going to blast everything"
  • Dying Alone:
Kongou (fog): So this is defeat... again I shall return, to the abyss, alone..."
  • Evil Brit: Well, she is assembled in England and is an enemy.
  • Final Boss: Of Christmas event.
  • My Name Is Inigo Montoya:
Kongou (fog): "I'm dreadnought Kongou. Let me remind you the magnificence of our weaponry."
  • Oh, Crap!: One of her line if damaged.
Kongou (fog): "What?! My Klein Field has been shattered?!"
  • Only a Flesh Wound: Another line if damaged.
Kongou (fog): "Ugh! Don't get full of yourself with this pitiful damage."
