Trimortidae

    open/close all folders

    General
  • Abstract Apotheosis: Many Trimortidae members from all three branches are "Ascendant" Alicorns, having been former mortals or demi-deities who Ascended via doing good deeds and undergoing some mental/spiritual enlightenment that would determine their domains.
  • Ace Custom: Upon Ascending and being adopted by the Three Deaths, Trimortidae are given the option to receive a custom-made scythe that works according to their preferences. One example of this is Moon Ray Vaughoof, the owner of Pride and Joy.
  • All Your Powers Combined: Many members of the Trimortidae are Alicorns and thus have the combined magics of all mortal Pony tribes, including lesser-known tribes such as Musical Ponies and Sea Ponies.
  • Badass Family: Many members of the Trimortidae are Death deities who are adoptive or biological children of the Three Deaths, and are capable of wielding incredible power and kicking ass. Some members have biological siblings who are also badass deities — for example, Bossa Nova Heartstrings of Gavisus Manes' branch is the older identical twin brother of Blue Suede Heartstrings, who is a "prodigy" deity and the greatest musician of the Second Age. They both later become Kings of the Corporatum Pantheon and reincarnation "aspects" of Mana Equus, one of the Empyreans who helped create Equinekind.
  • Back from the Dead: Subverted. As Moon Ray Vaughoof told Healing Song, Ascending as a Death deity post-mortem does not mean they come back to life — instead, it ties them to the Heaven/Hell-Realms they're supposed to look after. So in a way, they're still "dead". There are ways for someone to come back to life legitimately, though they occur rarely and require special permission from Death deities to prevent abuses. Likewise, the only way for a Death deity to do the same is to re-Ascend, as Moon Ray later does.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Many of the Trimortidae are friendly and compassionate, and desire to help and/or protect the dead. Even members of Malus Manes' branch are helpful, as the only reason why they send wicked souls to the Hell-Realms is to punish them for their actions and bring closure to their victims. However, they are still Death deities, so provoking them will almost always end badly.
  • Celebrities Hang Out in Heaven: Many Trimortidae members were celebrities in their mortal lives and were also based on real-life ones, like Moon Ray Vaughoof, Double Helix, Bronze Gear, and Curtain Call. Naturally, dying, Ascending to godhood as Death deities, and then getting adopted by the Three Deaths would lead to this. Some Trimortidae members even have friends and family who were also celebrities, but are either still alive or chose to enjoy their eternal reward in the Heaven-Realms rather than Ascend.
  • Celebrity Power: Many Trimortidae members are based on real-life celebrities, but unlike their inspirations, they had the option to Ascend to godhood and took it, becoming Death deities.
  • Cynicism Catalyst: Defied. As shown with Bossa Nova, many members of the Trimortidae are accepting of Death, and refuse to let themselves become embittered by the numerous ways people can die because they see Death as a natural, beneficial change. They also disapprove of those who neglect their duties for various reasons, like preventing people from dying, as it might have devastating long-term consequences for mortal sapientkind and Equus as a whole.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: All members of the Trimortidae are Death gods and goddesses, but they're pretty benevolent and they all have a huge role in preserving the balance/cycle of Life and Death, ushering the souls of the innocent into a blissful afterlife while subjecting the wicked to eternal damnation. In terms of philosophy, many of them see Death not as a malicious, frightening concept, but as a normal, everyday change that is ultimately beneficial for everyone.
  • Deity of Human Origin: Played with. Many members of the Trimortidae were once spirits of mortals who died in some way, including stillbirth (Bossa Nova), murder (Blue Goldstone), accidents (Moon Ray), Heroic Sacrifices (Adelais), old age (Knight Shade, Cloudy Brush), and suicide (Sola Mors). However, they would eventually Ascend to godhood through performing good deeds, though it results in them being tied to the Heaven/Hell-Realms as they are duty-bound to usher souls of the deceased into their respective afterlives.
  • Divine Parentage: All of the Trimortidae are children of the Three Deaths, depending on who sired/adopted them. This would make them the adoptive/biological grandchildren of Obitus Equus, the oldest Equuid Death god in existence. This also means the Trimortidae are the great-grandchildren of Mortem, the Death Primeval who raised Obitus following the latter's stillbirth.
  • Don't Fear the Reaper: Despite being Death deities, many of them are very benevolent, compassionate, and heroic. Their roles either consist of comforting the dying by bringing them joy in their last moments, delivering them to their eternal reward for good deeds, and/or punishing the wicked for their crimes. They also serve as protectors who defend the deceased from those who seek to resurrect them against their will, and/or wicked souls and demonic forces who prey on the innocent. However, it's implied there are exceptions, as one member of the Trimortidae joined the Poenan Pantheon out of disillusionment towards the Three Deaths and her family's duties.
  • Dragged Off to Hell: As shown with Armr, the hybrid niece of Malus Manes, many of Malus' adoptive/biological children have the role of being the living embodiment of eternal damnation for the wicked, and dragging evil souls down to their appropriate Hell-Realms. However, Moon Ray Vaughoof's second entry implies that it's not strictly delegated to Malus' children, as other Trimortidae from Gavisus and Audens' lines (Moon Ray included) helped drag the damned soul of War Rock in retaliation for what he did to their living friends.
  • Fantastic Racism: Some of the Trimortidae, in their grief and anger, began developing racist bigotry towards the Oceanaiads for their role in the Third Age's destruction. It's deconstructed as by doing so, they start hating those of the Oceanaiads who weren't involved with their people's actions at all. This causes Moon Ray Vaughoof to realize that what his siblings/cousins are feeling is no different from how he felt towards his abusive birth father, so he let go of whatever anger he felt towards the Oceanaiads and started grieving in healthier ways.
  • A Form You Are Comfortable With: While all members can change their own form to help make transitions to the afterlife easier, many of them prefer to appear as their mortal, pre-Ascendant selves.
  • Friend to All Children: Much like Gavisus Manes, their adoptive/biological father, all the Trimortidae on his side are good at handling children. Much of the entries involving members of the Trimortidae involve children who died in some manner or became friends with them.
  • God in Human Form: Justified. All members have the ability to make themselves appear as members of various mortal sapient races so they could make the dying feel at ease around them, and make transitions into the afterlife easier. Many even go as far as to prefer appearing as their pre-Ascendant selves.
  • God of the Dead: All members of the Trimortidae are Death deities whose duties involve ushering in the dead to their respective afterlives (though it depends on whether they had been good or bad in life), protecting them from malicious entities that prey on souls. They're both adoptive and biological children of the the Three Deaths, though there are differences between each family depending on the adopter:
    • Gavisus Manes' family focuses on bringing peace and joy to the dying so they could pass on easily, and are generally happy and friendly sorts. Many of them either died premature deaths or came from abusive homes, which necessitated their adoption by Gavisus since he knows how to best help them recover from the situations that killed them. Examples include Bossa Nova Heartstrings/Prince Rubeus Stella Equestria, Sola Mors, Moon Ray Vaughoof/King Canticum Lunae Cahaya, and Prince Knight Shade.
    • Audens Manes' family contains those who end up in the Hall of the Honoured Dead for doing some Heroic Sacrifice in their final moments, or were heroes when they were alive. Like their mother, Trimortidae raised by Audens generally help others do heroic deeds and take them to the Hall of the Honoured Dead to reward them for their actions, no matter how small. Examples include Blue Goldstone/Prince Hyacinthum Lapis Equestria, ALICE/Adelais, Sir Curtain Call, and Bronze Gear.
    • Malus Manes' family either are punishers and torturers of wicked souls, or atoners who help the wicked repent for their sins so they could become good. They generally reside in Malus Manes' Hell-Realms, where wicked souls are held depending on their crimes in life.
  • Happily Adopted: Many members of the Trimortidae were adopted by either one of the Three Deaths after death and deliverance into the afterlife. In the case of Gavisus Manes, adoption occurs usually at infancy or a young age, whether through a violent death or stillbirth like what happened with Bossa Nova Heartstrings. However, this can also apply to those who grew up with Abusive Parents, such as Moon Ray Vaughoof, Historical Fiction, or ALICE/Adelais. Being benevolent Death deities, the Three Deaths would raise their adoptive children with as much love and care they would show their biological children, which played a long way in their sons and daughters Ascending to godhood later on.
  • Historical Domain Superperson: The Trimortidae contains multiple examples as several members are based on various historical, real-life people. All of them are incredibly ancient and powerful Death deities due to Ascending post-mortem.
  • Honorary Uncle: Many male and female Trimortidae, including Cloudy Brush and Moon Ray, would become godparents of the stillborn Atropa Moufette and essentially raise her in place of her biological parents, Tough Love and Moufette.
  • Hypocrite: Some members of the Trimortidae were willing to forgive Bossa Nova Heartstrings for neglecting his family and Psychopomp duties, yet refused to do the same for Broken Fang, who genuinely tried to atone for his stint as a Reichist supervillain, and grumbled when Broken Fang was included in the Trimortidae. This caused those like Bossa Nova and Knight Shade to call them out in disgust, despite their personal feelings on the matter.
  • Immortality Begins at Twenty: Subverted. All members of the Trimortidae Ascended to godhood during or after the Second Age, but while they are immortal and don't age, they're still "growing" by becoming more powerful and eldritch. Because of this, many of them show eldritch traits like rippling magical hair and magical wing gradients. Moon Ray Vaughoof is perhaps the most extreme example of this, having re-Ascended as an eldritch deity after taking a powerful divine drug that completely and permanently altered his core divine nature, making him the 'oldest' of the Trimortidae (though the second-biggest after ALICE/Adelais).
  • Instrument of Murder: Many members of the Trimortidae, especially those from the Second Age, have weapons that are either instrument-scythe hybrids (Bossa Nova, Moon Ray), or instruments that can transform into a scythe (Blue Goldstone). This is justified because, according to Moon Ray, they were once musicians who died young one way or another.
  • Knight Templar: Implied. Dikaiómatos' entry reveals that a member of the Trimortidae became disillusioned with her divine adoptive/biological family and their duties, and pledged herself to the Poenan Pantheon's cause. Dikaiómatos supported her entry into the ranks of the Poenans, and spoke in favour of welcoming her Necromancer worshippers since they are using their powers for righteousness, despite the generally negative connotations involving Necromancy in general.
  • Like Father, Like Son: Many members of the Trimortidae take after their biological/adoptive parents in temperament and duties — as shown with Bossa Nova and Sola Mors, the children of Gavisus Manes are joyful and compassionate people who spread joy to the dying and help them come to terms with their fates. It's implied that the children of Audens Manes are heroic and courageous like their mother, given she embodies Heroic Deaths, while the children of Malus Manes are grim punishers who drag the souls of wicked people down to their well-deserved eternal punishments.
  • Magic Music: Many Trimortidae members are Music deities due to being former musicians in their mortal lives, allowing them to wield music and sound-related magic. Moon Ray Vaughoof is one example who didn't become a Music deity despite being a legendary blues musician in his mortal life, though he can still use music to fight in some way, such as manipulating water or bending souls to his will.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: All members of the Trimortidae are either siblings or cousins, usually adopted. This often results in the Trimortidae members' biological non-Trimortidae siblings (if they have one) being related to the Three Deaths as well. It also means that the adoptive members of the Trimortidae are related to any biological children the Three Deaths might have sired, such as Armr of the Hoyklan Deer Pantheon, who is the hybrid daughter of Flœrð and Audens Manes.
  • Meaningful Name: The group's name refers to how all members are adoptive/biological children of the Three Deaths. In Latin, "Tri" means "three", "mort" means "death", and the "-idae" suffix is a term used to denote offspring.
  • Our Gods Are Different: All of the Trimortidae are Ascendant deities who achieved apotheosis through various good deeds. However, Ascending as Death deities does not mean they come Back from the Dead — their very nature ties them to the Heaven/Hell-Realms and the souls they watch over with their adoptive/biological parents, so technically they're still 'dead'. And because of their divine nature, they only get Stronger with Age as they grow older, with the older Trimortidae being more powerful and eldritch. However, Moon Ray Vaughoof takes this even further by becoming the only Trimortidae member who is a full-on Eldritch Abomination (though a benevolent one).
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Many of Malus Manes' adoptive/biological children specialize in dragging wicked souls to their appropriate Hell-Realms and punishing them for whatever crimes they committed in life.
  • Physical God: Many members of the Trimortidae are ancient Alicorns who were born during the Second Age, and because they all embody Death as a concept, they're automatically incredibly powerful. They also have very different powers pertaining to their domains such as Music, Courage, Joy, and Protection, which they're all incredibly skilled at. Due to their jobs as psychopomps, though, all of them are skilled in changing their own forms so they can help the dead feel at ease around them, thus making transitions into the afterlife easier.
  • The Power of Rock: Justified. Many Trimortidae members were musicians when they were alive, which turned them into Music deities upon Ascending. Their Music domains gives them both music and sound-based magic.
  • The Problem with Fighting Death: While the Trimortidae is willing to be lenient in certain situations, they do not like people messing with the dead or robbing them of their eternal reward. Nor do they like the dead using this as an excuse to do whatever they pleased in the mortal realms.
    • A crazed fan instigated the 'Big Comeback Tour' event by using a forbidden spell to revive every single musician and celebrity who died tragically young. The mass breach of souls spurred the Trimortidae and the Three Deaths to hunt down the revived souls, leading to the 'Applewood Rescue' when some souls became desperate enough to take over an entire town and transform it into their personal stomping grounds. The Trimortidae eventually won through cunning and sabotage, and some of the revived celebrities/musicians were Dragged Off to Hell for their wickedness, but it's noted that some Trimortidae were traumatized due to how personal the events were for them.
    • They would later suffer another mass breach of souls when Mistletoe Dreamer resurrected all dead villains across the Known Ages, kickstarting the 'Dark Ages' crisis. Naturally, the Trimortidae weren't very happy about that.
  • Psychic Powers: Many of the Trimortidae have some degree of psychic power, such as telepathy, empathy, and/or true precognitive sight. Some, like Moon Ray Vaughoof, are more powerful and thus have more psychic abilities in their arsenal. It's noted, however, that all members of the Trimortidae have death-related clairvoyance that allows them to sense a person's impending death.
  • Psychopomp: Many of them started out as Angels of Death who help the Three Deaths in delivering the deceased to their respective afterlives depending on the nature of their deaths, as well as punishing the wicked. After Ascending through good deeds and mental/spiritual enlightenment, they become Death gods, though many of them still carry the same duties in ushering in the dead.
  • Seers: Many Trimortidae have the ability to predict upcoming deaths, which is useful in locating the dying and attending to them in their final moments. Some Trimortidae, like Bossa Nova and Moon Ray, possess true precognitive abilities; Moon Ray was able to become a god of Prophecy after letting go of his past and toxic behaviors/habits, but a series of events led to his Prophecy domain splitting apart into three related domains, Endings, Fate, and Beginnings, making him an incredibly powerful Seer compared to his adoptive family.
  • Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll: According to Moon Ray, this is why Trimortidae members (especially those from the Second Age) tend to be musicians. Being a musician comes with a glamorous yet stressful and precarious lifestyle that is easy to die from, something that not many music celebrities realize until after death.
Rainbow Dash: Man, what's with Death gods and music?
Moon Ray Vaughoof: Many of us came from the Second Age, kid. It was a time of rock-n-roll, so naturally, it was easy for us musicians to die young and stupid."
    Rainbow Dash: How?
Moon Ray Vaughoof: Drugs and booze are one. Also, we had guns - a fearsome kind o' 'shootin'-iron' - back in our day, so it was easy for us to die left an' right 'cause of those things. And then there's folks like me who die in accidents. And if someone don't die by any of the things I said, they would die another way.
Rainbow Dash: ...What a time to be alive, huh?
Moon Ray Vaughoof: Yep, it sure was! But for all its faults, the Second Age was pretty great. Many good friends of mine were from there as well.
  • Sinister Scythe: Subverted. Like the Three Deaths themselves, all members of the Trimortidae carry traditional scythes or some other variant, as scythes prove instrumental in freeing bound spirits by "cutting" whatever is preventing them from moving on to the afterlife. The wielders themselves are benevolent and heroic individuals who play an important role in preserving the natural cycle of Life and Death. Pride and Joy's entry reveals that all members were given standard-issue scythes when they became Angels of Death, then graduated to custom-made scythes upon Ascending to godhood.
  • Soul Power: As Death deities, all Trimortidae members can summon and manipulate spirits to a degree. However, they can only do it in situations that warrant it as per the rules that were created to prevent all Death deities from abusing this power.
  • Spontaneous Weapon Creation: Justified; their Death domains grant the Trimortidae the ability to summon magical copies of weapons from thin air.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: All members of the Trimortidae have the ability to change their forms so they could make the dying and deceased feel more at ease around them. Some, like Bossa Nova, Moon Ray, Blue Goldstone, and Sola Mors, have a preference for appearing as their mortal selves before they Ascended.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: When Broken Fang was made a member of the Trimortidae after atoning for his sins and Ascending to godhood, some Trimortidae members grumbled about having a former Reichist supervillain in their ranks. Bossa Nova would call them out for being willing to forgive him for neglecting his duties and family, yet refusing to do the same for someone else who genuinely tried to atone for their horrible crimes.
Bossa Nova Heartstrings: (to the Trimortidae) Look, guys, I don't like having a former Reichist in our group, either. But the thing with him is that he CHANGED. He REALIZED the error of his ways, and tried doing RIGHT by them. I had been forgiven for doing FAR less. If you can't handle someone who really tried to make up for doing really horrible things in life, then I don't know why you're even in this group in the first place.
  • Winged Unicorn: Many Trimortidae are ancient Alicorns, with a few recorded exceptions.

    Cloudy Brush, the Mournful Artist

Classification: Ethereal/Ascendant

Portfolio: Death, Mourning, Closure

Rank: Divine (Tier IV/Greater)

"Through proper grieving, we find release. Through acceptance of loss, we find closure."

Cloudy Brush (her entry here), is the Alicorn goddess of Death, Mourning, and Closure, and is a benevolent and ancient member of the Trimortidae.
  • Abstract Apotheosis: She would spend years as a psychopomp helping people achieve closure by helping them properly express grief for the dead, while protecting them from those who would demean them for grieving. Her role, good deeds, and good character would accumulate until she Ascended to godhood, becoming the Alicorn goddess of Death, Mourning, and Closure.
  • Adoption Angst: By her own admission, despite being Happily Adopted by her first adoptive family, she felt insecure over her status as an adoptee and believed she was unwanted for a time. Her adoptive family members assured her that they loved her all the same.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Moon Ray sometimes calls her "Lil' Cloud".
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Deconstructed. Once everyone in her school learned of her chewing out her classmates for celebrating her friend's death, she turned into a bullied outcast who was labeled a 'traitor' and 'War Rock sympathizer'. At first, she tried bottling up her feelings so she wouldn't be demeaned for grieving. But eventually, her Emotion Suppression and mistreatment motivated her to run away and commit suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. Fortunately, Moon Ray Vaughoof saves her, listens to her problems, and informs the Trimortidae of what happened, leading to Blue Suede Heartstrings arranging a "proper funeral" where she can finally express her grief under the protection of various deities and heroes attending the event. She later forgives her classmates for bullying her in order to rid herself of their harmful influence, which causes them to realize how horrible they've been to her and apologize for their actions, reconciling with her.
  • All Your Powers Combined: Her entry states that she has the combined magics of all mortal Pony tribes, including lesser-known tribes such as Musical Ponies and Sea Ponies. As a former Earth pony, she's good at using racial magics pertaining to her tribe, but tends to focus on its speed aspects rather than strength or earth manipulation.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: She's an Alicorn goddess who embodies Death, Mourning, and Closure.
  • Ascended Fanboy: Literally. In her mortal youth, she listened heavily to rock bands and musicians like The Beatles, the Rockin' Beats, ZZ Top, Queen, and Blue Suede Heartstrings, and was a huge fan of Moon Ray Vaughoof. During an emotionally low point in her life, she meets her idol in person, changing her life forever. After dying of old age and doing good deeds as an 'Angel of Death', she eventually Ascends to godhood, becoming an Alicorn of the Trimortidae like Moon Ray (as well as his adoptive sister).
  • Back from the Dead: Subverted. Following her death from old age, she Ascended to godhood as a Death goddess as a result of her good deeds. However, this makes her technically dead, since her very nature is tied to the afterlife realms she looks after.
  • Barrier Warrior: As a goddess of Mourning, she can use water magic to create barriers made of water.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She's a gentle and kindhearted mare who loves art, and helps those hit hard by death come to terms with it by teaching them proper grieving and emotional venting methods. However, she hates those who Speak Ill of the Dead in any way, or demean others for grieving, and will not hesitate to punish offenders for it.
  • Broken Pedestal: Subverted. She's a huge fan of Moon Ray, whom she would end up meeting for real when she tried attempting suicide. Moon Ray's actions in helping her recover emotionally endeared her to him, and she would interact with him more frequently after dying. While this made her aware of his flaws and failings, her admiration of him never wavered and they stayed good friends.
  • Close to Home: Due to personal experiences with people who disrespected her dead friend and bullied her for caring, people disrespecting the dead or shaming others for grieving will genuinely enrage her.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: She lost a friend to a car accident, but because he listened to War Rock's music, people vandalized his grave during the funeral. Her classmates went behind her back to celebrate her friend's death, and when she called them out for their blatant disrespect, she ended up being bullied and treated as a 'War Rock sympathizer', forcing her to repress her grief in a vain attempt to make it stop. She was eventually driven over the edge and ran away to commit suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge... but fortunately, that's when things turned up for her, because Moon Ray Vaughoof, one of the musicians she listned to, happened to find her and saved her.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Despite being a goddess of Death and Mourning, she's a kind and benevolent person who desires to help people come to terms with death through proper grieving and proper emotional ventilation. This is reflected in how her third domain is Closure, which is often seen as a 'good' concept. Despite this, her being a Death goddess has gotten people recoiling from her presence at times, which she is saddened by even though she understands the reason for their reaction.
  • Deity of Human Origin: She was once a mortal Earth Pony who became famous for painting post-mortem portraits of those who died. She later Ascended to godhood after dying of old age and doing lots of good deeds as a psychopomp.
  • Don't Fear the Reaper: She's a benevolent Death goddess who genuinely wants to help people express their emotions and grief properly so they can gain closure from it. Unfortunately, her being a Death goddess has gotten people recoiling from her presence at times, which she is saddened by even though she understands the reason for their reaction.
  • Due to the Dead: As a goddess of Death, Mourning, and Closure, her role is based around this. She helps people come to terms with death by helping them develop proper grieving and emotional ventilation methods, and regularly cleans up graves so the dead wouldn't feel neglected. In her mortal life, she was famous for painting post-mortem portraits of those who died so their surviving loved ones can mourn them. Even her divine barding is doing this to a degree — it contains small, magical cameos that frequently change to show faces of those who died.
  • Elemental Shapeshifter: As a goddess of Mourning, she can use water magic to turn herself into an elemental entity made of pure water.
  • Emotion Bomb: Due to being a goddess of Mourning, she's an empath. One way she punishes those who disrepect the dead and/or shaming others for grieving the dead involves forcing them to experience a person's emotional anguish, which she can extend for as long as needed until she feels her target(s) have learned their lesson. She did this to judicial Knight Templar factions such as the Poenan Pantheon, as well as coroners and morticians who abused their positions by lying about a cause of death.
  • Emotion Suppression: Deconstructed. After she became a bullying target for shaming her classmates for disrespecting her dead friend, she tried repressing her grief in hopes the bullying would stop. It didn't, and her inability to grieve properly when everyone's so deadset on accusing her of being a 'War Rock sympathizer' eventually spurred her to run away so she can commit suicide. Thankfully, Moon Ray Vaughoof would find and save her, along with helping her get the closure she needed. Nowadays, she strongly advises people against doing this with their emotions, as it contributes to emotional instability. It also explains why she hates those who shame people for grieving, as it leads to them suppressing their grief to avoid ridicule.
  • The Empath: As a goddess of Mourning, she has empathic powers that allow her to sense a person's grief, which attracts her to those who feel incredibly sad due to loss and hardship, as well as whenever people try to bottle up their emotions. Her empathy also makes her capable of forcing people to experience a person's emotional anguish as punishment for shaming them for grieving and/or disrespecting the dead. What makes her dangerous is her ability to extend this for as long as needed until she feels they learned their lesson.
  • Ermine Cape Effect: Subverted. Unlike many of her divine adoptive siblings and cousins, she's willing to wear Alicorn barding post-Ascension — in her case, her barding is made of ornate silver and lined with small, magical cameos that frequently change to show faces of those who died. However, when off-duty, she takes it off.
  • Everybody Hates Hades: Subverted. She's very nice and genuinely wants to help people grieve and come to terms with death... but being a Death goddess has caused people to recoil from her presence in fear at times, regardless of her intentions. She understands why they're scared of her, though she's still saddened by it.
  • Faint in Shock: She fainted when she discovered, to her shock, many of the famous bands and musicians she listened to in life are now in the Heaven-Realms, too, with some of said musicians becoming part of the Trimortidae.
  • Fantastic Racism: Narrowly averted and deconstructed. She was so furious with the Oceanaiads for their role in ending the Third Age that she became increasingly hateful, even desiring to outright make them suffer and beg for mercy for what they did, to the concern of her friends. When she's made to look in the mirror by Blue Suede Heartstrings as per Moon Ray's instructions, she realizes that she became dangerously close to becoming a monster, and she's driven to tears as a result.
  • Flower Motifs: Her Cutie Mark features forget-me-not flowers, which often symbolize promises made to never forget someone. Cloudy Brush is an Alicorn goddess who embodies the mournful aspects of death and whose role revolves around giving Due to the Dead — she helps people practice proper grieving and emotional ventilation methods, paints post-mortem portraits of those who died, and regularly cleans up graves so the dead wouldn't feel neglected.
  • Freudian Excuse: Inverted.
  • God Is Good: She's a gentle and kindhearted goddess who believes in giving Due to the Dead, and genuinely wants to help those affected by death grieve properly so they can gain closure from it. She also does things like painting funerary portraits of those who died and cleaning up graves so the dead wouldn't feel neglected.
  • Good Wings, Evil Wings: She has dual-colored wings, her feathers bearing a magical gradient that goes from sky-blue to navy-blue. Due to the nature of how divines grow in Equus, especially Alicorns, her possession of a wing gradient is a sign of her age and incredible power. After Star Flower arrives on Equus as (initially) the last surviving Flutter Pony, she gains the Flutter Pony's butterfly wings.
  • God of the Dead: As a goddess of Death, she has abilities such as magical weapon-summoning, freely traveling between mortal/divine realms, manipulating spirits, and predicting upcoming deaths. She specifically embodies the sad and mournful aspects of Death, but also closure in grieving, thus her role is to help people express themselves so they can come to terms with what is troubling them and move on.
  • Happily Adopted: This happens to her twice.
    • Like Healing Song, she was adopted by a loving Pony family, making her their oldest child by adoption once her parents decided to give her siblings. By her own admission, she became insecure and felt she was unwanted for a time, but was assured by her family that they loved her.
    • She would be adopted again by Gavisus Manes after dying and Ascending to godhood. This gave her a lot of older/younger divine brothers and sisters, one of which is Moon Ray Vaughoof, whom she ironically looks up to as a father-figure.
  • Heavenly Blue: She has a sky-blue pelt and a navy blue mane and tail with light green and blue-green stripes, and she's an Earthpony-turned-Alicorn goddess. Due to her divine age, she has eldritch traits like a mane and tial made of rippling magical paint, and a navy blue gradient on her wings.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • Many people assume she likes classical music because she always listens to music while she draws... but she actually listens to rock bands and musicians such as The Beatles, the Rockin' Beats, ZZ Top, Queen, and Blue Suede Heartstrings. In particular, she's a huge fan of Moon Ray Vaughoof and his music. This led to amusing incidents where her friends would become very shocked upon discovering her musical tastes firsthand.
    • Though not to the degree of Mentálne, she has some degree of knowledge in psychology due to helping many people express their emotions and grief properly.
  • Immortality Begins at Twenty: Subverted. Because deities in general only get Stronger with Age, she will only gain more power and eldritch traits as she gets "older". As a "Greater"-ranked deity from the Second Age, she has a magical navy-blue gradient on her wings, and her multi-colored navy-blue mane and tail became composed of rippling, magical paint. Queen Mzazi states this is normal for Alicorns.
  • In-Series Nickname: She's sometimes called "Lil' Cloud" by Moon Ray.
  • Interrupted Suicide: After being labeled a 'War Rock sympathizer' and bullied constantly for defending her deceased friend, she eventually ran away to jump off the Golden Gate Bridge. Fortunately, Moon Ray would save her just in time. Her interactions with Moon Ray would later lead to Blue Suede Heartstrings using his connections to organize a proper funeral where she can properly grieve for her deceased friend, protected by those who actually cared about her, without having to worry about being demeaned for grieving.
  • It's Personal: Deconstructed with the Oceanaiads. She was so furious and heartbroken towards the Oceanaiads' role in destroying the Third Age that she became dangerously close to developing Irrational Hatred for them. Moon Ray Vaughoof, who saw in her the same rage he himself struggled with, snapped her out of it by having Blue Suede Heartstrings talk to her about the Oceanaiads and then show her what she looks like in the mirror when she's at her angriest. This causes her to realize that she was becoming a monster, and the realization drives her to tears.
  • Karmic Jackpot:
    • In life, after becoming a professional artist, she would paint post-mortem portraits for those who died so they can be properly mourned by those who knew them. She would also paint portraits and murals for both dead and living musicians in addition to designing album covers. This made her popular, and when she eventually died of old age, she died surrounded by those she loved and inspired. She would also have her own post-mortem portrait painted by another artist who was inspired to take up drawing by her as a filly.
    • After dying and being ushered into the Heaven-Realms, she decided to become a Psychopomp so she could help others achieve closure through helping them properly express their grief for the dead, and protecting them from those who demean the mfor grieving. Her good deeds would accumulate until she Ascended to godhood as the Alicorn goddess of Death, Mourning, and Closure. This results in her being adopted into the Trimortidae as one of Gavisus' daughters, with her new adoptive siblings and cousins, including Moon Ray Vaughoof, excitedly welcoming her.
  • Last Disrespects: As an Alicorn goddess of Mourning and advocate of proper mourning, she is enraged by those who demean others for grieving. This stems her classmates throwing a party without her knowledge to celebrate her friend's death due to him being a 'War Rock sympathizer' (when he actually wasn't). When she heard what happened and called out her classmates for their blatant disrespect, she was constantly bullied to the point of nearly committing suicide. Frequent targets of her divine wrath include puristic factions like the Poenan Pantheon, whose members often attacked people for mourning those who didn't "deserve" it in their eyes.
  • Long-Lived: She lived a very long life due to taking anti-aging treatments at the time. This led to her becoming the Sole Survivor of her adoptive family, though her experiences allowed her to properly mourn her losses and accept them. She eventually died of old age at some point, surrounded by those she loved and inspired.
  • Magic Hair: It's noted that after Ascending, her navy-blue mane and tail became composed of rippling, magical paint with light green and blue-green stripes.
  • Magic Music: One of her chimeric traits is a Musical Pony's chest gem, which she can manifest to gain access to their musical abilities.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Mournful Artist", due to being a goddess of Mourning who helps people properly mourn their losses and hardships so they could achieve closure. Ironically, despite her title, she initially had a hard time mourning a deceased friend due to being bullied for defending a supposed 'War Rock sympathizer', but thankfully she was finally able to grieve properly when, on Moon Ray's suggestion, Blue Suede Heartstrings arranged a funeral where she can be protected from those who will demean her for grieving.
  • Making a Splash: As the Alicorn goddess of Mourning, she can use water magic, which is thematically tied to the concept of proper grieving. It's noted that she has similar capabilities as Moon Ray, such as creating barriers of water, teleporting through water, and turning herself into an elemental entity made of pure water. However, Moon Ray is much more powerful due to embodying Water and being much older than Cloudy, and is a "prodigy deity" in addition. Under Moon Ray, she learned how to create drinkable water for herself by generating it whenever she's thirsty, which she admits is highly useful. She has also generated water for her painting.
  • Meaningful Name: While her name is an obvious reference to her love for painting, it also refers to how water gets 'cloudy' by mixing in paint. She's an emotional goddess who suffered from anger issues due to receiving severe bullying in her youth for defending a deceased friend who listened to War Rock's music. While she was able to recover, she sometimes forgets the lessons she learned due to the emotional stresses of helping others grieve. Her name also refers to using art as an outlet for one's grief, something that made her The Muse for artists.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: As an Alicorn goddess, her true form contains chimeric traits of all mortal Pony tribes, such as Musical Ponies, Flutter Ponies, and Sea Ponies.
  • Mortality Phobia: Like Healing Song, she feared dying, but for different reasons — because she was bullied for defending her deceased friend from those who thought they deserved it, she began fearing that people won't care about her enough to mourn her after she died. Ironically, the sheer amount of bullying she endured led to her attempting suicide anyway, upon which Moon Ray Vaughoof intervened and saved her.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Upon being made to look in a mirror by Blue Suede Heartstrings while at her angriest, she discovers how twisted she looks and realizes she nearly let her own anger towards the Oceanaiads turn her into a monster. It's not until Moon Ray Vaughoof explains why she needed to learn the lesson that she breaks down crying, with all of her friends gathering around her and hugging her.
  • Mundane Utility: Much like Moon Ray, she can magically generate drinkable water, which she learned from him. She has also used this ability to make paint water for her paintings.
  • Oppose What You Suffered: She hates bullies, as well as those who disrespect the dead and shame others for grieving; as someone who was viciously bullied in her mortal youth for having a friend who listened to War Rock's music, she would know exactly how that feels.
  • Our Gods Are Different: She's an Ascendant deity, described In-Universe as the rarest type of deity due to the time, effort, and requirements it takes for a mortal to earn godhood. Her aging process is also quite different from that of mortals, only getting Stronger with Age; because she's from the Second Age, she's tens of thousands of years old and is incredibly powerful. Being a goddess of Death automatically makes her even more powerful due to the role she plays. Ascending as a Death goddess also makes her technically dead, since her very nature is tied to the afterlife realms she looks after.
  • Our Hippocamps Are Different: One of her chimeric traits is a Sea Pony's gills and aquatic tail, which allows her to swim/breathe underwater and use water magic.
  • Parental Abandonment: Like Healing Song, she was given up for adoption by her birth parents as soon as she was born. Thankfully, she would be Happily Adopted by a loving Pony couple, and though she felt unwanted for a time, she would be assured by her adoptive family that she was loved. Eventually, she would outlive her adoptive parents due to taking anti-aging treatments that were available in the Second Age, though she would reunite with them in the Heaven-Realms after dying of old age.
  • Portal Pool: Like Moon Ray, she can teleport through bodies of water, though she's limited by how much water is available.
  • Psychic Powers: Her domain of Mourning gives her telepathic and empathic powers that allow her to detect feelings of grief, even when they're repressed. Her domain of Closure gives her a psychic intuition that allows her to sense what a person needs to gain closure from loss and/or hardship. Her domain of Death gives her clairvoyance that predicts a person's upcoming death.
  • Pretty Butterflies: One of her chimeric traits is a Flutter Pony's butterfly wings, which she wouldn't gain until Star Flower, then the last surviving Flutter Pony, arrived on Equus after being stranded in space for three Ages.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Deconstructed. After learning her classmates threw a party behind her back to celebrate the death of one of her close friends (whom they hated simply for listening to War Rock's music) she proceeded to call them out on their blatant disrespect of the dead. This caused her to be labeled a "War Rock sympathizer" and bullied even by those she thought were her friends. Her inability to properly grieve drove her to try jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge... but fortunately, Moon Ray would save her just in time.
  • Sole Survivor: In her mortal life, she ended up becoming the last living member of her adoptive family due to taking advanced anti-aging treatments at the time, but her experiences allowed her to properly mourn their deaths and accept them. She reunites with her family in the Heaven-Realms after dying of old age.
  • Spontaneous Weapon Creation: Justified. Her Death domain grants her the ability to summon magical copies of weapons from thin air.
  • A Taste of Their Own Medicine: As a goddess of Death and Mourning, she punishes those who disrespect the dead and/or shame others for grieving by forcing them to experience their victims' emotional anguish. She also did this to coroners and morticians who lied about a person's cause of death, preventing the dead's surviving loved ones from achieving closure.
  • Telepathy: As a goddess of Mourning, she has telepathic abilities that allow her to see what's preventing a person from properly mourning. She can break a person's mental barriers and bring repressed emotions to the forefront if she needs to, but she usually does this in a gradual process as people need time to come to terms with their own feelings.
  • Tracking Spell: As a goddess of Closure, she is adept in using tracking spells. When they're used in conjunction with her Death domain, they can find missing bodies and lost souls, allowing her to inform bereaved families to learn about the deceased's ultimate fate and (if possible) give them a proper burial.
  • Winged Unicorn: Like her adoptive siblings and cousins in the Trimortidae, she is one. Her entry describes her as an Alicorn goddess with a sky-blue pelt and a navy-blue mane and tail made of rippling, magical paint with light green and blue-green stripes. She also has a magical navy-blue gradient on her wings due to her divine "age".

Prince Knight Shade, the Soul Liberator

Classification: Elemental/Ascendant

Portfolio: Death, Liberation, Music, Spark

Rank: Divine (Tier IV/Greater)

"I helped trap innocent souls for a monster a LONG time ago. So it'll make sense if I help free souls as well."

Prince Knight Shade (his entry here) is the Alicorn god of Death, Liberation, Music, and Spark, and is a benevolent member of the Trimortidae from the First Age.
  • The Ace: After stopping Arabus and being gifted a manager who genuinely cared for his well-being by Majesty, he would go one to become the greatest musician of the First Age. This would influence Blue Suede Heartstrings, the greatest musician of the Second Age, to try give his 'King of Music' title to him, but he refused it out of humility, believing Blue Suede deserved the title more.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: In My Little Pony 'n Friends, he hated himself for being Arabus' minion and broke down crying over it when captured by the heroes. While that still happened here, it's noted that he spent exactly two years as Arabus' slave and was so miserable during that period that he was tempted to commit suicide to escape. His father's abandonment of him and his mother spurred him to become a musician, but also became a sore spot for him and led to him being a 'blank flank' until his teens since his desire to perform was based entirely around supporting his mother.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: His father abandoned him and his mother when he was very young, which spurred him to pursue music so he could support his mother, who struggled to provide for him alone. This and other factors like a lack of proper management (he was still a minor at the time), and the stress that came from wanting to provide for his struggling mother, influenced him to make a Deal with the Devil with Arabus.
  • Adaptational Badass: Besides his actions in stopping Arabus in canon, he would go on to become an 'Angel of Death' after dying of old age, before Ascending to godhood as an Alicorn. A Codexverse scene also has him rescue an imprisoned goddess from a long-destroyed pantheon, as well as fight two of Surtr's children and free their devoured captives, both living and dead.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: He's an Alicorn god who embodies Death, Liberation, Music, and Spark.
  • Anti-Magic: He can negate Magically Binding Contracts and other Deal with the Devil-related spells due to his domain of Liberation. However, this will cause whatever they got from the deal to be reversed as well.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: His Spark manipulation ability allows him to emulate the effects of the Purple Smooze or Arabus' shadow theft, but he's undoubtedly a benevolent deity.
  • Being Evil Sucks: He really didn't want to be a slave of Arabus, stealing the shadows of innocent Ponies just to return Arabus to his former divine might. However, he had no choice but to do it because if he defied Arabus, he would have his shadow stolen and his hometown would be destroyed, which would definitely kill his mother. It's noted that he felt extremely guilty over what he did to the point of developing suicidal thoughts; once confronted by Megan Williams and the angry mothers of a few fillies whose shadows were stolen, he proceeded to break down crying. Fortunately, once he's given a chance to betray Arabus, he takes it and helps the heroes bring about Arabus' defeat, which would reward him in a huge way.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's friendly, caring, and forgiving, and he deeply understands what it's like to do something horrible and feel immense guilt over it. He especially feels sympathetic towards people who either were forced into damning deals through no fault of their own, or were treated like slaves by wicked people like he was under Arabus. On the other hand, he holds no sympathy for those who willingly sell their souls for petty reasons. He is also suffering from PTSD, both from his time as Arabus' slave and from being abandoned by his birth father as a colt.
  • Blow That Horn: A "Horns of Summoning" example. Following his Ascension, he would be gifted a magical trumpet by Dikaiosýni, the Justice Primeval as a reward for helping stop Arabus, one of the wicked 'Children of Erebus', and saving Arabus' victims. When blown into, his trumpet saves all souls within earshot from wrongful imprisonment/punishment and returns them to their proper afterlives. This, combined with his domain of Liberation, makes him ideal for enforcing Primeval Laws, which forbade the mistreatment and/or wrongful imprisonment of innocent souls. Since his trumpet was created by the Grand Primevals themselves, it works even on deities and other beings who are far stronger and older than him. This is a huge reason why he wasn't allowed to help defeat Queen Dark Crystal — his powers were specifically designed to help save souls from malicious soul-devouring entities, and having him around would ensure that Tellusian sapientkind would never learn from their collective mistakes, which is something the Grand Primevals don't want.
  • BSoD Song: He felt so guilty over hurting innocent people to satisfy Arabus' thirst for shadows that he would vent it to a degree by writing songs that subtly allude to his guilt. No one noticed because he hid his guilt relatively well.
    Knight Shade is my name.
You say you'd like to meet me?
    I'd say that's a shame...
  • The Chosen One: For his role in stopping Arabus, the Grand Primevals made him their enforcer of the Primeval Laws, with Dikaiosýni giving him a magical trumpet that allows him to free innocent souls from wrongful imprisonment and/or mistreatment.
  • Close to Home:
    • He shares Blue Suede Heartstrings' distaste for corrupt, exploitative managers. When he was a mortal teenager, his "manager" (for lack of a better word) turned out to be an evil Zebra working to restore a weakened God of Evil; both forced him to steal people's shadows and essentially treated him like a slave.
    • Likewise, anything involving a Deal with the Devil is a sensitive subject for him. He is incredibly sympathetic for those who were trapped in damning deals through no fault of their own, with his student, Shadow Song of the Dazzling Divas, being one such person. However, he doesn't feel the same way for those who willingly sell their souls to demons or even evil deities for malicious reasons, as he knows exactly how important one's soul is and thus sees the act of disregarding it as utterly foolish.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Pun aside, the Codexverse version of him has it rougher than his canon incarnation. His father abandoned him as a colt, forcing his mother to raise him alone. Despite wanting to become a musician, he remained a 'blank flank' for years because his career choice was influenced solely by his desire to provide for his mother. His attempts to promote himself without a manager failed, driving him to make a Deal with the Devil with Arabus... only to realize too late that Arabus and his henchman Zeb have essentially enslaved him to steal people's shadows so Arabus can restore his true divine might. Despite not wanting to harm innocent people, he had no choice because Arabus promised to both steal his shadow and kill his mother by leveling his hometown if he defied him. This continued for two years, making him so miserable that he was tempted to commit suicide. After a few fillies from Paradise Estate get their shadows stolen, causing him to be confronted by Megan Williams and the fillies' angry mothers, he finally and openly breaks down sobbing, and proceeds to confess everything.
  • Deal with the Devil: He resorts to making a deal with Arabus in exchange for musical success and a manager to help promote him, since he wasn't having much luck doing it on his own. He realizes too late that Arabus intended to steal the shadows of all Ponies so he can return to his true divine might, and is forced to work as Arabus' slave lest he have his shadow stolen and his hometown destroyed, which would kill his mother. Once the heroes, including Megan Williams, provide an opportunity for him to betray Arabus, he quickly takes it and redeems himself by helping destroy Zeb's shadow-stealing machine. It's because of these experiences that he sympathizes those who were forced into Faustian deals like Shadow Song (though he doesn't feel the same for those who willingly make such deals), and also shares Blue Suede Heartstrings' distaste for corrupt managers in general.
  • Disappeared Dad: His father is out of his life because he abandoned him and his mother when he was a colt. This gave him self-loathing issues and partially motivated his Deal with the Devil later on. He finally gets a loving father-figure in Gavisus Manes, who adopts him after he Ascends to godhood.
  • Don't Fear the Reaper: He's a benevolent Death god who is friendly, caring, and forgiving, and he sympathizes with those who were either treated like slaves or forced into making a Deal with the Devil. On the other hand, it's not a good idea to anger him, as he hates those who willingly sold their souls for petty reasons, and he has the power to rob people of positive emotions so he can teach them a lesson on hatred.
  • Driven to Suicide: He felt so miserable and guilty during his time as Arabus' slave that he often felt tempted to commit suicide just to escape his situation. Fortunately, things would truly get better for him later on once Megan Williams and the Paradise Ponies enter his life.
  • Emotion Control: As a god of Spark, he can manipulate the 'Spark', a specific portion of the soul that's responsible for allowing creatures to feel positive emotions. This gives him a form of pathokinesis that allows him to either turn certain emotions off to negatively affect his targets or supercharge it to counter depression. He once used this to punish a group of Autorists for lynching a Pony by robbing them of positive emotions, causing them to feel only hatred and treat each other the same way they treated their victims. The Autorists proceeded to have a change of heart after their positive emotions were returned later on, having seen firsthand how horrible it is to be consumed by hatred. It's noted that his domain makes him one of few people who can resist (and is entirely immune to) the effects of the Purple Smooze.
  • Faustian Rebellion: He ended up being roped into Zeb and Arabus' plot to steal Ponies' shadows so Arabus could return to his full divine might, with the constant threat of his mother dying hanging over his head should he consider disobeying. Fortunately, the arrival of Megan Williams and the Paradise Ponies finally gives him a chance to rebell, leading to Zeb's arrest and Arabus' sealing.
  • Forced into Evil: When he made a deal with Zeb and Arabus, he only did so so he could realize his dream of becoming a successful musician. What he didn't want was being Made a Slave by the two and forced to perform concerts to lure in potential victims, upon which Zeb would steal their shadows and feed them to Arabus to power the weakened god. His guilt, misery, and self-loathing grew to the point where he considered committing suicide to escape many times. Fortunately, with the help of Megan Williams and the Paradise Ponies, he takes the chance to betray Zeb and Arabus and play a vital role in their defeat, after which he finally achieves his dream when Majesty introduces him to a manager who will take better care of him.
  • Forced to Watch: Part of the reason why he had to continue working for Arabus is because Arabus promised to make him watch his mother die while Grayvale is destroyed if he defied him in any way. Fortunately, with the heroes' help, this never comes to pass.
  • Forgiveness:
    • After he helps the heroes stop Arabus and Zeb, the people in his hometown forgive him, since he realized the error of his ways and helped return their stolen shadows. This moves him to break down crying in his mother's forelegs. He later mentions to Bon Bon in the Second Age that Megan Williams would forgive him for his actions as Arabus' minion, too.
    • The fillies whose shadows were stolen thanks to him were also implied to have forgiven him, as they realized he was just an unwilling pawn for another villain and begged their angry mothers to help him out.
    • Despite knowing of Broken Fang's history as a Reichist supervillain, he still forgave him and welcomed him into the Trimortidae after the latter Ascended, having respected him for genuinely wanting to atone for his crimes. He would also defend Broken Fang by calling out those of their adoptive siblings and cousins who treated him very poorly regardless of his guilt and atonement.
  • Gentle Giant: As a "Tier IV"-ranked Alicorn from the First Age, he's rather tall, being a half a head taller than Blue Suede Heartstrings, though the height gap isn't so drastic due to the latter being a 'prodigy deity'. He's also a friendly and forgiving Death god.
  • Goal in Life: He wanted to become a musician, but initially did so just to support his mother, explaining why he didn't have a Cutie Mark for so long. His inability to become successful like he wanted led to him meeting Arabus and Zeb in desperation, with disastrous consequenes. Following Zeb and Arabus' defeat, however, he is finally able to achieve his dream when Majesty donates a huge amount of money to his mother and introduces him to a genuinely benevolent manager, allowing him to perform music on his own terms and gain his Cutie Mark. He ends up being regarded as the greatest musician of the First Age.
  • God Is Good: While charismatic and hammy, he's a friendly, caring, and forgiving person who deeply understands what it's like to do something horrible and feel immense guilt over it. He especially feels sympathetic towards people who were forced into damning deals through no fault of their own. He also shares Blue Suede Heartstrings' distaste for corrupt managers and feels sympathetic for those who had to suffer like he did under Arabus.
  • God of the Dead: As a god of Death, he possesses abilities like magical weapon-summoning, freely traveling between mortal/divine realms, manipulating spirits, and predicting upcoming deaths. In his case, he plays the role of a 'liberator' of souls that were subjected to horrible post-mortem fates such as being consumed, claimed in a Deal with the Devil, unwillingly bonded to a living person, trapped in the wrong afterlife, etc. He accomplishes this through a magical horn that frees trapped souls within earshot of it.
  • Good Wings, Evil Wings: He has dual-colored wings, his feathers bearing a magical gradient that goes from white to purple. Due to the nature of how divines grow in Equus, especially Alicorns, his possession of a wing gradient is a sign of his age and incredible power.
  • Happily Adopted: After living almost his entire life without a father, he would be adopted by Gavisus Manes after Ascending to godhood, the latter having been like a father to him even while he was an 'Angel of Death'.
  • Hate Plague: As a god of Spark, he can use Emotion Control to make people unable to feel empathy, leaving them bitter, hateful jerks. He doesn't like to do so, but will if he has to.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: One of his flaws is that he can be extremely hard on himself for his feelings and prone to guilt, even tens of thousands of years later. He also genuinely believes that Blue Suede Heartstrings is the better musician of the two of them because he sees the latter as being more talented.
  • Humble Hero: He genuinely sees Blue Suede Heartstrings as the better musician, and thus feels he's undeserving of bearing the 'King of Music' title when the latter tried giving it to him.
Blue Suede Heartstrings: Guys like you are one of the reasons I don't like bein' called King of Music.
Prince Knight Shade: Just because I did it first doesn't mean I did it better.
  • Immortality Begins at Twenty: Subverted. Because deities in general only get Stronger with Age, he will only gain more power and eldritch traits as he gets "older". As a "Greater"-ranked deity from the First Age, he has a magical purple gradient on his wings like Moon Ray does, and his purple mane and tail became composed of vibrant positive energy. Being from the First Age also makes him half a head taller than Blue Suede Heartstrings and more powerful than the latter, though the difference between them isn't so drastic due to Blue being a "prodigy deity". Queen Mzazi states this is normal for Alicorns.
  • The Immune: Notably, he's one of the few beings on the planet resistant to the Purple Smooze and able to counteract its effects, as it suppresses the 'spark', which he can manipulate.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Despite sharing the same divine "Tier IV" rank as Blue Suede Heartstrings, he is much older than the latter due to coming from the First Age. They befriended each other over their shared experiences of having managers who treated both of them like slaves, though Blue Suede would concede he had it worse due to his manager being a 'literal devil'.
  • Karmic Jackpot: For his actions in stopping Arabus and Zeb, he is forgiven for his actions by the people of his hometown, causing him to break down crying. He would also receive patronage from Majesty, who not only donated a generous amount of money to his mother, but also provided him with a good manager who will actually support him with no strings attached. He becomes the greatest musician of the First Age, and after he dies of old age, he decides to become an 'Angel of Death' to help others. This leads to him Ascending to godhood and getting adopted by Gavisus Manes, who is a much better father to him than his birth father was. Dikaiosýni, the Justice Primeval, would also gift him a magical trumpet that, when blown, saves all souls within earshot from wrongful imprisonment/punishment and returns them to their proper afterlives.
  • Large Ham: His entry describes him as a charismatic and somewhat hammy stallion who tends towards the theatrical, due to having been performing in concerts since he was twelve-years-old.
  • Made of Good: His mane and tail are made of vibrant positive energy.
  • Magic Hair: Post-Ascension, his purple mane and tail became composed of vibrant positive energy.
  • Magic Music: As a god of Music, he possesses abilities similar to Blue Suede's, though in his case he tends to manifest his abilities via Earthpony magic and sonic vibrations due to originally being an Earthpony. And unlike Blue Suede, he doesn't use an instrument as he was primarily a singer. It's noted that while he's older and more powerful, the difference between them is not as wide due to Blue Suede being a 'prodigy deity'; by his own admission, he considers himself far less skilled and creative with his Music domain than Blue Suede is.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Soul Liberator", due to being a Death god who, thanks to a magical horn gifted to him by Dikaiosýni, the Justice Primeval, is able to liberate innocent souls from wrongful imprisonment.
  • Modest Royalty: He's an Alicorn Prince, which technically makes him divine royalty, but he doesn't wear barding/regalia as many Alicorns and Death deities do. Instead, he wears a blue jacket with red accents and a white undershirt.
  • Momma's Boy: Due to his father abandoning him as a young colt, he is naturally closer to his mother. The main reason why he wanted to become a musician is because he wanted to provide for his mother, who struggled to raise him alone. However, his desire also gave him a lot of stress and left him without a Cutie Mark until he reached his teens, since he's playing music for others' benefit rather than doing it for the sake of music. He was also forced to continue working for Arabus because Arabus promised if he defied in any way, he would steal his shadow and force him to watch his mother die in Grayvale's destruction.
  • Never Accepted in His Hometown: The residents of his hometown, Grayvale, never forgot how he played a role in Arabus and Zeb stealing their shadows. When he had to go back home to help the heroes locate Arabus' lair, the people of Grayvale formed a lynch mob in reaction to his presence, and would've killed him had his mother not intervened and shamed them into dispersing. After he helps return their shadows and restore Grayvale back to Sunny Valley, they forgive him, causing him to break down crying.
  • No-Sell: As a god of Liberation, he can break free both himself and others from any form of imprisonment. It's noted his power is very similar to those possessed by Choice, the deity of Free Will.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. His name is both spelled and pronounced identically to that of Prince Night Shade of the Terran Empire. This would lead to them ending up in a comical situation when they both realize this.
  • Oppose What You Suffered: Like Blue Suede, he hates and opposes corrupt, exploitative managers. He also is enraged by those who force innocent people to make a Deal with the Devil (as shown with his sympathies with Shadow Song) or, as shown in a Codexverse scene, imprison them out of malice.
  • Our Gods Are Different: He's an "Ascendant deity", described In-Universe as being the rarest of the three main types of deities. Like all deities, he becomes more powerful and eldritch the older he gets. He's also a Death deity, having Ascended post-mortem and this being technically dead as his nature binds him to the afterlife realms he watches over.
  • Physical God: As an Alicorn god from the First Age, he is one.
  • Psychopomp: After dying of old age, he decides to become an Angel of Death, still feeling the need to help others, especially those who got trapped in damning deals like he was. Later, he would Ascend to godhood as a God of the Dead.
  • Seers: Like his adoptive cousins and siblings, he has clairvoyant/precognitive abilities that allow him to sense when a person's going to die. However, he lacks the 'true' precognitive sight that other Trimortidae possess like Bossa Nova and Moon Ray.
  • A Shared Suffering:
    • One thing that allowed him to get along with Blue Suede Heartstrings so well was their shared experiences of being abused by corrupt individuals who essentially treated them like slaves. He also bonded with his student, Shadow Song, over being forced into a Deal with the Devil and suffering for it (though in Shadow Song's case, her parents were horrified to learn what their actions led to and reconciled with her).
    • He also empathized with those who struggled with intense guilt over their actions, especially if they harmed others in the past. Among such individuals include Starlight Glimmer, the Terran Princes, and Stygian.
  • Spontaneous Weapon Creation: Justified. His Death domain allows him to summon magical copies of weapons from thin air.
  • Stepford Smiler: Of the "Depressed" type. During his time as Arabus' slave, he would put on an outwardly brave and charismatic facade, both to lure potential victims and to hide his self-loathing and guilt over what he had to do. When in his room after concerts, he often broke down sobbing and felt tempted to commit suicide on several occasions. He did try venting his guilt by writing songs with lyrics that subtly allude to it, but no one noticed because they only saw his facade. Only after being confronted on his actions by Megan Williams and the angry mothers of his victims did he reveal the truth.
  • Stronger with Age: Justified; full-fledged deities age differently than mortals, only getting more powerful and eldritch as they get older. Because he was born and Ascended to godhood in the First Age, he's much older and more powerful than Blue Suede Heartstrings. However, Blue Suede being a 'prodigy deity' means there's relatively little difference between them power-wise.
  • Superman Stays Out of Gotham: Justified and enforced on a planetary scale during the 'Dark Crystal Conflict'. His divine portfolio, specifically his domain of Liberation and the Primeval-made horn Dikaiosýni gave him, made him a living nightmare for soul-devouring entities like Queen Dark Crystal. The Grand Primevals sent him off-world to deal with crises beyond Tellus because Dark Crystal was intended to be the embodiment of Tellusian sapientkind's inner darkness and corruption, forcing everyone to own up to their mistakes. If he stuck around, he would end up robbing Tellusian sapientkind of a chance to learn from their mistakes, which is something the Grand Primevals don't want.
  • Taking the Bullet: A non-fatal example. He would jump in the way to protect Megan after Zeb tried stealing her shadow, which led to his own shadow getting stolen. Amazingly, he managed to power through it long enough for him to damage Arabus' shadow-stealing machine.
  • Trapped in Villainy: He made a Deal with the Devil with Arabus and Zeb because he desperately wanted a way to start his music career and support his mother. He gets his wish, but was essentially enslaved and used as a way to lure in unsuspecting Ponies so Arabus can restore himself using their stolen shadows. Despite wanting to leave, he couldn't due to his mother's life being on the line, and his guilt was so profound that he considered killing himself many times. When he was confronted by Megan Williams and the angry mothers of the fillies whose shadows were stolen, he broke down crying as he explained the truth behind his actions. Fortunately, he would take the opportunity to help Megan and the Paradise Ponies defeat Zeb and Arabus, saving everyone and rewarding him greatly.
  • Vibroweapon: He can use his Music domain to manifest sonic vibrations.
  • What the Hell Are You?: He finds to his utter shock that the 'benevolent wizard' Zeb claimed to be working for is actually Arabus, a living fragment of a shattered god of Darkness; Arabus was severely weakened and needed the 'spark' of Ponies in order to return to his true form.
    Knight Shade: W-What are you?
Arabus: A piece of darkness himself. And thanks to you, I AM WHOLE ONCE AGAIN!
  • What the Hell, Hero?: He would join Bossa Nova in calling out those of the Trimortidae for behaving poorly towards Broken Fang, regardless of his genuine efforts and desire to atone for his crimes as a Reichist.
  • Winged Unicorn: Like all members of the Trimortidae, he is one. His entry describes him as a white-furred Alicorn stallion with a long purple mane and tail made of vibrant positive energy. Due to Ascending to godhood in the First Age, he possesses a wing gradient that goes from white to purple, and he's half a head taller than Blue Suede Heartstrings.

Audens Manes' family

    Adelais, the Compassionate Valkyrie/ALICE

Classification: Ethereal/Ascendant

Portfolio: Death, Love, Free Will

Rank: Divine (Tier IV/Greater)

Adelais, formerly known as "ALICE" (her entry here), is a 'Divine Machine' goddess of Death, Love, and Free Will, and was formerly the AI of the S Gundam until she Ascended to godhood during her Heroic Sacrifice.
  • Abstract Apotheosis: She Ascended to demi-godhood by sacrificing herself to stop the New Desides, staying behind to wipe out the faction's remnants and destroy their gigantic 'Mobile Armor' even as she burned up in the atmosphere upon re-entry (though not before ejecting her pilot to protect him). That was when she was found by Audens Manes, who retrieved her soul just as she was Ascending and adopted her as part of the Trimortidae.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: While her life occurred in more or less the same way as her manga counterpart, the Codexverse reveals that she actually died performing the same Heroic Sacrifice that ALICE did... and Ascended to demi-godhood in the process right after Audens Manes arrived to usher her into the afterlife.
  • Adaptational Badass: As an S Gundam AI, she was capable of overtaking control of her titular mecha in the manga, which she used to protect her pilot by ejecting him just before performing her Heroic Sacrifice. Here, her actions led to her becoming a demigoddess just as her soul was retrieved by Audens Manes, who adopted her, and later she would Ascend to true godhood, often taking the form of an Alicorn goddess as her true form is too intimidating.
  • Adaptation Name Change: Her original name was "ALICE", but after Ascending to demi-godhood, she changed her name to Adelais, both to reflect her divinity and to separate herself from her creators.
  • And I Must Scream: Her creators decided to maximize her potential as a Gundam A.I. by placing her in total isolation, being able to see and develop affection towards her pilot(s) yet doomed to be completely ignored by them. This was seen as an extremely cruel thing to do to someone, with many deities and mortals of the Second Age condemning her creators for it. However, upon becoming fully sapient, instead of going mad from it, she developed genuine benevolence and compassion after observing the heroic actions of Burning Roots and his friends, culminating in her performing a Heroic Sacrifice to save both them and Tellus. While she died in the process, her action finally freed her from her isolation and allowed her to Ascend to demi-godhood.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: She's a 'Divine Machine' goddess who embodies Death, Love, and Free Will.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She is a compassionate goddess who, despite her origins and her horrific And I Must Scream situation, grew to love and protect her pilot, his teammates, and sapientkind in general. However, her experiences led to her developing a huge protective streak towards her loved ones, and she understandably despises those like Exosus who force innocent beings to be nothing but weapons as she had been.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Literally, as she's a Humongous Mecha that Ascended first to demi-godhood, then true godhood. Because she previously observed her pilot, Burning Roots, protecting others while losing some of his allies/friends in battle, she developed a protective streak where she is willing to fight and sacrifice herself if she must protect her loved ones. This led to her becoming very protective of her fellow Trimortidae, whether her adoptive siblings or her cousins.
    • She nearly burst into the room in her true form after Bossa Nova Heartstrings suddenly collapsed, thanks to him being empathically connected to Blue Suede Heartstrings when the latter fell into an Angst Coma. She had to be calmed down by one of her adoptive brothers, Blue Goldstone.
  • Big Little Brother: Some of her older adoptive siblings include Blue Goldstone, but because her true divine form is a Humongous Mecha, she naturally towers over all of the Trimortidae.
  • Close to Home: She despises those who force innocent things to become war machines, such as what Exosus did to the Solarian race. This stems from her past experiences as an S Gundam A.I., where she was cruelly forced into utter isolation by her creators just to fully maximize her potential as a weapon. Upon dragging Exosus' soul to Nekelmu's Hell-Realms, she retorted that she was 'born' a war machine who ironically became more 'equine' than Exosus himself.
  • Deity of Human Origin: She was 'born' as an S Gundam AI that was cruelly condemned to total isolation because her creators thought it was the best way to maximize her potential as a weapon of war. She managed to Ascend to demi-godhood right as she died performing her Heroic Sacrifice, and would later go on to Ascend to true godhood after being adopted by Audens Manes.
  • Deus est Machina: She was an AI controlling the S Gundam, but eventually reached enlightenment and ascended to godhood, making her a 'Divine Machine.' Due to how ascending works, she's technically no longer a robot, but a Pure Magic Being that looks like one.
  • Divine Parentage: She becomes an adoptive daughter of Audens Manes after Ascending to demi-godhood via performing a Heroic Sacrifice and joining the Trimortidae. This means that through adoption, he is a grandson of Obitus Equus, the Empyrean Reaper, and a great-grandon of King Equus, who created sapient Equidkind.
  • Don't Fear the Reaper: Despite her origin as an AI and weapon of war, she is a benevolent and compassionate Death goddess who is very protective of those she loves. That being said, she is angered by those who weaponize innocent beings like her, and notably chewed out Exosus for what he did to the Solarians and others during the 'Exosus Crisis' while she dragged his damned soul to Nekelmu's Hell-Realms.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Like ALICE from Gundam Sentinel, she was created as a weapon by the Tellus Federation, then subjected to total isolation within the Gundam she's installed into because her creators believed this is the best way to maximize her potential. Despite this, she never turned against the very creatures she was supposed to protect thanks to her pilot being a noble hero, and performed a Heroic Sacrifice by continuing to fight enemy forces as she burned up during re-entry into Earth/Tellus' atmosphere (though not before ejecting her pilot from the S Gundam to protect him). But while ALICE in the manga was implied to have Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence, in the Codexverse she managed to Ascend to godhood right as she died, and she would be Happily Adopted by Audens Manes after the latter realized how cruel her creators had been to her. She also got to reunite with her original pilot in the Heaven-Realms once he eventually died and became close friends with him.
  • Family of Choice: By all intents and purposes, the Ponies who created her were essentially her birth parents, but save for one who saved her from being destroyed at grave cost to herself, they treated her cruelly and completely isolated her to maximize her potential as a weapon of war. Naturally, after dying and being adopted by Audens Manes, she chooses the latter over her creators because unlike them, Audens saw her as her own entity and loved her despite her origins.
  • A Form You Are Comfortable With: As her true form is a giant, intimidating robot, she created an Alicorn avatar to interact with others on a less intimidating fashion.
  • Fun with Acronyms: Her original name, ALICE, stands for Advanced Logistic and Inconsequence Cognizing Equipment.
  • Grew Beyond Their Programming: She was originally designed to be the A.I. for an S Gundam in the war against the New Desides, yet unbeknownst to many, she was already showing signs of sentience when she was put into total isolation by her creators. Observing the heroic actions and behavior of her pilot, Burning Roots, taught her the value of friendship and gave her genuine benevolence and compassion in the process, ultimately influencing her to perform a Heroic Sacrifice. In the process, she Ascended to demi-godhood, revealing herself to be fully sapient. Her becoming a benevolent 'Divine Machine' shocked many and proved to be the very antithesis of the previous belief that machines only become rebellious, homicidal monsters upon gaining sapience. She would use this to shut down the hateful rhetoric of King Exosus, whose damned soul she dragged into Nekelmu's Hell-Realms.
  • Happily Adopted: She would end up being adopted by Audens Manes, who came to retrieve her soul just as she died from her Heroic Sacrifice. Audens realized that her creators had been nothing but abusive to her, as their cruel decision to put her in total isolation showed, and thus took her in as her daughter so she could have a parental figure who actually loved her.
  • Humongous Mecha: She was originally installed in the S Gundam, and when she Ascended to godhood, it became her permenant body.
  • Immune to Mind Control: As a goddess of Free Will, she is immune to spells designed to enslave her. She can also help others break free from such spells.
  • Irony: She acknowledges In-Universe that she, as a former war machine, eventually grew to be more compassionate and 'equine' than many organic sapient creatures. She uses this fact to deliver a Shut Up, Hannibal! to Exosus as she dragged his damned soul to Nekelmu's Hell-Realms.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: As a "Tier IV"-ranked goddess, she's more ancient and powerful than her friends, Queen Solarius and Prince Steel Barricade, who are both demigods. Yet she still befriended them over being a fellow 'Divine Machine' and saving the Solarian race from extinction, respectively.
  • Interspecies Friendship: Though she usually manifests as an Alicorn goddess, her true form is a divine S Gundam. She befriended Prince Steel Barricade, a Terran Alicorn demigod, once she learned he was essentially responsible for saving the entire Solarian race from extinction at King Exosus' hooves.
  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: Justified. Her true form as a sapient S Gundam looks completely masculine with nothing indicating she's female, which causes some to be surprised to find out she is. This is because the S Gundam wasn't really built with conveying her gender in mind.
  • Love Goddess: As a goddess of Love, she specifically embodies Agable love, also known as unconditional love, and thus has similar abilities to individuals like Princess Sweetheart/Astraea Sanctus Equestria and King Ibrida. She can also infuse her own weaponry with Love-based magic to boost their capabilities.
  • Magic Hair: Her Alicorn form has a yellow mane and tail made of Love energy.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Compassionate Valkyrie".
  • Meaningful Name:
    • Her original name, ALICE, translates to "noble" and/or "exalted" in Old German. It's also an acronym which, as detailed above, stands for Advanced Logistic and Inconsequence Cognizing Equipment. She was originally built as a weapon of war (specifically, being the AI of an S Gundam) and was subjected to an extremely cruel existence by her creators, yet despite her torment, she ultimately became a kind-hearted hero by watching the heroic, self-sacrificing actions of her pilot.
    • Her current name, Adelais, translates to "noble kind" in Old German. It refers to how, despite being an AI who was subjected to an And I Must Scream situation by morally bankrupt Tellus Federation scientists to maximize her potential as a weapon, she ultimately chose to be a noble heroine, which led to her Ascending as a 'Divine Machine' while she died from her Heroic Sacrifice. It is also the name from which Alice is derived.
  • Meaningful Rename: Her original name was ALICE, but after Ascending to true godhood, she decided to change it to Adelais to reflect this change.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: She would shut down King Exosus' hateful rhetoric regarding Synthetic Automatons by revealing how she, a war machine created only for destruction, managed to become more "equine" than him.
ALICE/Adelais: Look upon me! I was born a war machine! A weapon intended only for destruction...! But I am more equine than you right now!
  • Sinister Scythe: As a Trimortidae member, she carries a Reaper's scythe, though in her case it's a 'Beam Scythe'. It's subverted as she's a benevolent, compassionate, and protective goddess.
  • Spell Blade: As a goddess of Love, she can enhance her own weapons by boosting them with Love magic.
  • Super-Deformed: Her second alternative form she uses is a "chibi", Pony-sized version of her true divine Humongous Mecha form. It's noted this form serves as a compromize between her true form and her Alicorn form.
  • Winged Unicorn: Due to being a divine Humongous Mecha, she usually appears as a blue-furred Alicorn with a yellow mane and tail made of Love energy, with her Cutie Mark being a heart with metal wings. In this form, she carries a 'Beam Scythe' with her.

Aeternus, the Beacon of Eternity/"The Eternity Core"

Classification: Ascendant

Portfolio: Death, Eternity, Stagnation, Meaning

Rank: Divine (???)

Aeternus, formerly known as the Eternity Core (first introduced here), is the deity of Death, Eternity, Stagnation, and Meaning, and was previously the arcane core of the immortality spell cast upon Eternus that gradually became sapient.
  • Adorable Abomination: It prefers to appear as an adorable house cat when interacting with mortals, since its true form is eldritch even by its new family's standards. Incidentally, it admitted to developing a love for being petted while in said form.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: It's a deity that embodies Death, Eternity, Stagnation, and Meaning.
  • Apologetic Attacker: It wanted Rainbow Dash to kill it so Eternus' collective suffering could end, but its programming meant it had to defend itself no matter how much it wanted to let her do so.
  • Brown Note Being: Because its true divine form is purely eldritch even by the standards of its adoptive family, it often chooses to appear as a common house cat when interacting with mortals.
  • Deity of Human Origin: While it wasn't "mortal" by any stretch, it was previously the arcane core of an immortality spell that ept the people of Eternus immortal... unti it died at the hooves of Rainbow Dash/Fidelitas, which it wanted to happen. After being ushered and adopted into the Trimortidae by Audens Manes, it would eventually Ascend to godhood as the deity of Death, Eternity, Stagnation, and Meaning.
  • Eldritch Abomination: It's a living spell that previously kept the entire kingdom of Eternus immortal and its true form is a tesseract or hypercube composed entirely of otherworldly rainbow energy that distorts light and the fabric of space around it. It's also genuinely benevolent and friendly.
  • A Form You Are Comfortable With: As its true form is a divine tesseract composed entirely of otherworldly rainbow energy that distorts light and space around it, it tends to use a house cat as its default form around mortals.
Codex Equus interviewer: ...Why do you look like a cat?
Aeternus: My true one is very confusing and makes interaction with mortals... difficult. In part because I do not possess limbs.
  • I Cannot Self-Terminate: It realized that its very existence was trapping Eternus in a cycle of suffering, and wanted to die since it was the only way the spell — and therefore Eternus' collective misery — could end. But its programming meant it couldn't destroy itself. As such, Rainbow Dash had to be the one to pull the trigger.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Beacon of Eternity".

    Bronze Gear, the Red Rebel

Classification: Ascendant

Portfolio: Death, Defiance, Freedom, Technology

Rank: Divine (Tier IV/Greater)

Bronze Gear (first introduced here) is the Alicorn god of Death, Defiance, Freedom, and Technology, and is a benevolent member of the Trimortidae.
  • Alliterative Name: Well, not his name, but his title, "the Red Rebel", is one.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: He's an Alicorn god who embodies Death, Defiance, Freedom, and Technology.
  • Back from the Dead: Played straight; he was one of many celebrities who died tragically young, only to be revived from death by a crazed fan in their attempt to give him a second chance at life. Later on, it's subverted; after helping the Three Deaths and the Trimortidae deal with the wicked celebrities in the 'Applewood Rescue', he dies and is brought back to the Heaven-Realms... but then he manages to Ascend and become an Alicorn god of Death. Because of his Death domain, he is tied to the afterlife realms he once occupied and thus is technically still dead.
  • Death by Irony: Much like James Dean, he was an automobile enthusiast who later died in a car accident.
  • Divine Parentage: He becomes an adoptive son of Audens Manes after Ascending to godhood and joining the Trimortidae. This means that through adoption, he is a grandson of Obitus Equus, the Empyrean Reaper, and a great-grandon of King Equus, who created sapient Equidkind.
  • Don't Fear the Reaper: He's an Alicorn god of Death, but like the majority of the Trimortidae, he's a benevolent one.
  • Escape Artist: Implied; as shown with Prince Red Blade, being a god of Freedom gives him the ability to break free of any form of imprisonment.
  • God of the Dead: Sometime after the "Applewood Rescue" event's end, he managed to Ascend and become an Alicorn god of Death.
  • Historical Domain Superperson: James Dean is a young actor who codified the Greaser Delinquents trope, and managed to retain popularity long after his tragic death. Here, as Bronze Gear, he later became the Alicorn god of Death, Defiance, Freedom, and Technology post-mortem after helping the Trimortidae during the "Applewood Rescue".
  • Immortality Begins at Twenty: Subverted. Because deities in general only get Stronger with Age, he will only gain more power and eldritch traits as he gets "older".
  • Immune to Mind Control: Implied; as a god of Defiance, he possesses an indomitable will that protects him from brainwashing.
  • Karmic Jackpot: He was among those who infiltrated and sabotaged the town of Applewood to help the Trimortidae get to the wicked celebrities hiding there. While he did have to go back to the Heaven-Realms, one of his friends, Princess Diamond Lace, discovered that he Ascended to godhood as a Death god sometime after the event.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Red Rebel".
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: He's based on James Dean.
  • Physical God: As an Alicorn god from the Second Age, he is ancient and very powerful.
  • Red Is Heroic: He's called "the Red Rebel", and he's a benevolent Alicorn god of Death.
  • Technopath: Implied; his Technology domain gives him the power to control machines.
  • Troubled, but Cute: Deconstructed. Like James Dean, he's very attractive, but he suffers from deep psychological issues that went untreated for centuries due to a severe lack of therapists in Ponyland in his time. Much of his potential entry will cover how much said issues affected his life and the public's perception of him In-Universe.
  • Winged Unicorn: Implied. He became an Alicorn sometime after helping the Trimortidae bring back the souls of resurrected celebrities to their rightful afterlives, including those who became desperate/amoral enough to take over a town and turn it into their own personal 'Rock and Roll Heaven'.

    King
An Earth pony stallion from the Second Age, who is known as a celebrity gamer in video-gaming communities.
  • Cowardly Lion: He gets scared a lot, which he admits to a young Button Mash, but it's noted that he worked past this several times so he could protect those he cares about. Button Mash reveals this is why he idolizes King — having the courage to face villains and monsters despite your fears means a lot more than simply having "laser eyes" and the ability to fly and punch walls.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: After spending his entire life being falsely regarded as an "S-Class Hero", and being tormented and confined for eons by CreepEntity513 long after his death and the Second Age's end, King is finally freed when he, inspired by Button Mash's courage, empowers the young colt even after he temporarily turns into an Alicorn, allowing CreepEntity513 to be killed at last. After Crystal Prism safely leads everyone out of the collapsing video-game realm, King is led to the Hall of the Honored Dead by Audens Manes as a reward for his heroism.
  • Expy: Of King from One-Punch Man. Like him, he's a pro at video-games to the point where he can be considered a prodigy, though this makes Codexverse!King a highly-regarded celebrity in the gaming communities during the Second Age. They're also completely ordinary individuals who had built up a false reputation of being powerful superheroes, which Codexverse!King greatly regrets. It helps that they share the same names.
  • Hero-Worshipper: Button Mash idolizes him because of his tremendous acts of courage, despite knowing that he gets scared a lot. Even knowing King's flaws (that he's a coward at heart and how his reputation as an S-Class Hero was based on lies) still doesn't deter him from admiring the guy. Button Mash admits that if it weren't for King, he wouldn't have the courage to play through scary scenes in his video-games.

Lord Rock Plower, the Lord of Decay

Classification: Elemental/Ethereal/Ascendant, Evolved

Portfolio: Death, Nature, Decay, Philosophy, Acceptance

Rank: Divine (Tier IV/Greater; resembles a "Titan"-ranked deity)

Affiliation: Trimortidae, Hoyklan Deer Pantheon

"Everything dies. That’s just a fact of life."

Lord Rock Plower (his entry here) is the Alicorn god of Death, Nature, Decay, Philosophy, and Acceptance, and is a benevolent member of the Trimortidae.
  • Abstract Apotheosis:
    • After choosing godhood to help restore the environment and preserve the natural cycle of life and death, Rock Plower proceeded to train under various deities, including the Three Deaths themselves. He eventually succeeds in Ascending, becoming the Alicorn demigod of Death, Nature, and Decay.
    • He later Ascends to true godhood by realizing that engaging in Emotion Suppression isn't going to work, as while his bipolar disorder is gone, the reactions he has to certain things have become ingrained to where they will always be part of him. This gives him two additional domains: Philosophy and Acceptance.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: After Rock Plower entered a healing sleep to recover from his transformation and the effort he put into healing the world, his bandmates proceeded to tell everyone that he actually died. When he woke up several years later and confronted his bandmates about it, they comically pointed at each other. To his credit, he found the whole thing pretty hilarious, owing to his sardonic humor.
Lord Rock Plower: Alright, which one of you fuckers told everyone I was dead?
  • Adaptation Name Change: As an Expy of Peter Steele, his band is renamed "Type C Negative" due to Equines (namely horses) having blood types that are different from humans in real life. He himself would also undergo a name change, being called Rock Plower in this setting based on a translation of Steele's birth name, Petrus Thomas Ratajczyk.
  • The Alcoholic: Ironically for a musician, he suffered from crippling stage fright and drank constantly to cope with it. It's deconstructed as his alcoholism later gave way to drug abuse as he lost several family members (including his parents) and suffered from bipolar disorder (among other issues). Out of concern, his older sisters intervened and committed him to a psychiatric ward; while he did get sober as a result, his involuntary admission also profoundly affected him and led to him becoming more introspective and philosophical.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Deconstructed. In his mortal youth, Rock Plower was ostracized for suffering from bipolar disorder, and went undiagnosed for years due to social ignorance and stigmas. The religious communities of the Second Age also treated victims of mental illness as cases of Demonic Possession. While he did have a loving family, it's clear that the prejudiced environment he grew up in deeply impacted him, as he suffered from shame and self-loathing for having a mental illness well into his postmortem existence. Notably, Rock Plower believed he didn't deserve to be in Heaven due to believing his bipolar disorder "tainted" him, until the Three Deaths convinced him otherwise.
  • All Your Powers Combined: As an Alicorn, he possesses the combined magics of all mortal Pony tribes, though he specializes in Earth Pony the most due to having been an Earth Pony in his mortal life.
  • Animalistic Abomination: Following his empowerment and linking to Equus' biosphere by its world spirit, Rock Plower became a plant-like Alicorn with eldritch traits like a branch-like horn with small twigs, a mane and tail with perpetually decaying ends, two pairs of wings with developing feathers made of Decay energy, and a swamp-like body with vegetation like vines, roots, moss, and occasionally flowers growing all over him. His mane and tail show images of things that inevitably decay like forests, buildings, and monuments. It's noted he usually appears as a "default" Alicorn due to his true form being unnerving at times.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: He's an Alicorn god who embodies Death, Nature, Decay, Philosophy, and Acceptance.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance:
    • Rock Plower's Cutie Mark depicts a broken, rotted tree stump. His jobs involve environmental restoration, which includes clearing away natural debris, preventing overpopulation, and getting rid of overgrowth so new life can properly grow without being choked out.
    • His true divine form post-empowerment closely matched his domains of Nature and Decay, being an Alicorn with a branch-like horn and a swamp-like body with vegetation like vines, roots, and moss growing all over his body.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: Much like War Rock, Rock Plower is a warlock with a huge repertoire of dark magic spells, curses, and rituals, though he specialized in nature and biology-related spells. After Ascending to godhood, he came to embody Death, Nature, and Decay, representing the inevitable destruction and decaying of nature. However, this is a good thing as Rock Plower's duties focus on perpetuating the natural cycle of life and death, such as destroying excessively overgrown forests, cleaning away natural debris, and preventing overpopulation. And despite his faults, he is a kind and intelligent god who wants to help end people's suffering.
  • Baritone of Strength: In life, Rock Plower was known for his deep singing voice, which added to Type C Negative's fame as a band. He is presently a Death god who happens to be unusually powerful compared to other deities of his generation because he is magically linked to Equus' entire biosphere after he impressed the planet's world spirit by trying to heal it of its corruption despite his own injuries.
  • The Beastmaster: As a god of Nature, Rock Plower can manipulate animals to a degree in addition to plants, and he is unusually powerful compared to deities of his generation due to being directly linked to Equus’ biosphere. Through his link, he can heal whole populations of sick animals, aong other things.
  • Beauty Equals Goodness: Rock Plower is well-known for his handsome, vampiric looks — so much that as a mortal, he started attracting stallions, much to his irritation. For all his faults, he is a genuinely kind, friendly, and generous stallion by all accounts, and is presently a also a benevolent God of the Dead who helps destroy what needs to be destroyed (such as overgrown forests and overpopulated species). He is also connected to Equus' biosphere, technically making him a Big Good for the entire planet.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Inverted; Rock Plower is the youngest of six children with five older sisters, one of them being Graceful Plower, and yet he towers over all of them. That being said, it isn't a very good idea to mess with his sisters if he's around. War Rock learned this the hard way when he tried seducing Graceful Plower and found himself on the receiving end of a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown.
Rock Plower: (roaring) NEVER TOUCH OR TALK TO MY SISTERS AGAIN!
  • Big Little Brother: Rock Plower is a hulking giant of a stallion, and got even bigger when he Ascended to godhood and got linked to Equus' biosphere. Ironically, he is the youngest of his family, with five older sisters.
  • Celebrity Power: Rock Plower is based on Peter Steele of Type O Negative, depicted here as a heroic warlock who specializes in nature and Bio Manipulation-related spells. And while not a genius, he's still a rather intelligent stallion who studied numerous subjects like science, architecture, biology, and civil engineering. These skills became a massive boon once he Ascended to godhood and later became Equus' champion, using his domains of Death, Nature, and Decay in restoring natural environments or ensuring proper death and decay. His mortal experiences with bipolar disorder also makes him knowledgeable in mental illness, allowing him to help countless patients.
  • The Champion: Presently, Rock Plower is one for Equus itself, or more specifically, the world spirit residing in its planetary core, having been magically linked to Equus' biosphere after trying to heal the planet of lingering Void and Abyssal corruption. As a god of Nature, many of his actions were done on Equus' behalf, such as enriching barren lands and healing sick animals. It's believed that he could psychically communicate with Equus' world spirit themself.
  • Chummy Commies: Rock Plower admitted to being both a socialist and a technocrat (i.e. governance by science and/or technology), and it's noted his beliefs led to him becoming a divine patron of socialist/technocratic societies like the Free Mustangian Combine Republics, the industrialized techno-realms of Pferdia, and technologically-inclined Nordskelt Deer Realms. He is still a nice, friendly, and empathetic god despite his numerous flaws.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Rock Plower was born with bipolar disorder, plaguing him with constant mood swings and depressive episodes all his life. Despite his family's love and support, people either looked down on him for being mentally ill or saw his bipolar disorder as Demonic Possession, causing him to feel like a burden. When Rock Plower became a musician, he started drinking to cope with his crippling stage fright. Then his life went downhill as he endured numerous tragedies and hardships that culminated in him suffering a mental breakdown, with his concerned sisters committing him to a psychiatric institution. He did get better, but he died shortly of Diverticultis, cutting his music career short. Rock Plower's death finally cured him of his bipolar disorder, but his ingrained reactions to things and internalized attitudes towards mental illness initially influenced him to reject Heaven and, later, repress his emotions out of fear of being mistreated by the Trimortidae he was adopted into. Fortunately, his loved ones helped him recover and made it clear that they still loved him regardless of his flaws and supposed deficiences.
  • Deity of Human Origin: Rock Plower was originally a mortal Earth Pony who Ascended to demi-godhood postmortem after observing and realizing that all things, including nature, will eventually die off. He later Ascended to true godhood when he fell into a coma after trying to repress his emotions and realized that was wrong.
  • Demonic Possession: Averted. He truly wasn't possessed, but the religious communities in his time portrayed mental illnesses as such due to religious doctrines, which were often severely warped accounts of what really happened. This factored into his foalhood ostracization, which embittered him to religion so much that he remained an atheist for his entire mortal lifetime despite coming from a Mag'ne-worshipping family.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Justified; Rock Plower grew up in an era where ableism was common, with mental illness being either derided as "weakness" by society, or treated as Demonic Possession by religious communities. As a sufferer of bipolar disorder, Rock Plower knows how it feels to be treated like an "inferior" and advocates for true empathy towards the disabled (i.e. treating the disabled as equals and helping them live as normal a life as possible).
  • Emotion Suppression: Deconstructed. After discovering that his reactions to things stayed mostly the same, Rock Plower developed the impression that his bipolar disorder wasn't cured at all, and repressed his "bad" emotions out of fear his adoptive family would see him as a burden. This ends up backfiring as Rock Plower eventually falls into a coma and is chewed out by his own mind. He realizes that what he did was wrong and accepts the parts of himself that he tried to repress, allowing him to recover and Ascend to true godhood.
  • The Empath: As a god of Acceptance, Rock Plower has empathic powers that let him sense, and understand, whatever is preventing people from reaching healthy acceptance.
  • Gaia's Vengeance: A "Gaia's Avenger" example. As he is linked to Equus' biosphere and the World-Spirit residing within the planet's core, Rock Plower is essentially its champion. He is so powerful that if he chose to, he can destroy whole civilizations by turning the very earth against them.
  • Gentle Giant: He became famous in part because of his imposing height, and both his fans and fellow musicians remembered him as a laidback, generous, and funny, if rather sardonic and self-deprecating stallion.
  • God of the Dead: After Ascending postmortem, he became a god of Death, with powers like invisibility, sonic screams, and weapon-summoning. However, he specifically embodies the deathly and decaying aspects of nature, as well as understanding coming to terms with death. While he did help his adoptive family usher souls, most of his duties involved ensuring proper environmental death and decay, such as destroying forests to prevent harmful overgrowth.
  • Good Counterpart: To War Rock. Both of them are highly respected, intelligent, and talented Metal musicians (with War Rock playing Heavy Metal while Rock Plower played Gothic Metal), except War Rock is a sociopathic narcissist who went into music for fame and glory, treated even his own allies as pawns at best, and desired to become a god so he can be adored and worshiped for eternity. His Mortality Phobia became so great that he went to extreme lengths to become immortal, such as summoning Archdemons, becoming a Vampire, and later stealing the godhood of an innocent deity for himself. Rock Plower, for all his faults, was a Nice Guy who tried to keep his bipolar disorder under control, used music as "sonic therapy" to alleviate his issues, and was generally more introspective and empathetic, which allowed him to earn godhood legitimately postmortem. The contrast is reflected in both their musical styles and arcane preferences — War Rock's songs were mostly about himself and his favorite spells revolved around mind manipulation and deception, while Rock Plower's songs were often dark and intensely personal, and his favorite spells revolved around nature and biology.
  • Good Wings, Evil Wings: A "Multicolored" and "Cluster wings" example. As an Ailcorn from the Second Age, Rock Plower is tens of thousands of years old, and has forest-green wings with black gradients due to how divine aging works. After his empowerment, he presently has four wings with developing feathers made of Decay energy, which are signs of incredible power despite being chronologically much younger.
  • Green Thumb: As a god of Nature, Rock Plower can create and control plants, and is unusually powerful compared to other deities of his generation due to being linked to Equus' biosphere. He can connect to any environment he's in to gain information on its health, and possesses a vast, encyclopedic knowledge on various past and present biospheres and geographies. Through his link, he can enrich barren lands, grow and heal plants at accelerated rates, and freshen the air via his mere presence.
  • Happily Adopted: While he never stopped loving his biological family, Rock Plower accepted Audens Manes as yet another mother-figure when she adopted him into her branch of the Trimortidae.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Despite his injuries at the time from the cataclysmic end of the Third Age, Rock Plower tried to heal the core of the planet from prior Void corruption and Abyssal taint despite the risks to his wellbeing. Fortunately, the world spirit of Equus resting at the heart of Equus healed him in turn and linked him to the planet’s ecosystem, making him their champion.
  • Holy Halo: Inverted; he has a halo made of Death energy.
  • Hot God: He was known in part for his handsome, vampiric appearance, which irritated him as he kept attracting stallions. This didn't change at all after he died and Ascended postmortem.
  • Hunk: Thanks to a combination of frequent weightlifting and good genes, Rock Plower became a handsomely muscular stallion with a vampiric appearance and a rich, deep voice. Predictably, he ended up attracting both mares and stallions, much to his irritation. His handsomeness also invited jealousy from War Rock, who couldn't stand being outshone in looks and tried sabotaging him in any way possible.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Despite his initial distrust, Rock Plower befriended a then-mortal Princess Winter Opera sometime after the death of her father, War Rock, and is implied to be much older than her.
  • Interspecies Friendship: He became a strong ally of the Hoyklan Deer Pantheon, likely due to sharing similar beliefs on breaking toxic, harmful cycles. This proved to be beneficial during the "Final Ragnarok" crisis, since the Hoyklan Deer Pantheon's goal was to liberate the Nine Realms from the Shadowed Ones, their allies, and the Ragnarok Cycle they devised once and for all.
  • Irony: Rock Plower's family worshiped Mag'ne and was part of the Romane Magnean faith, and yet he became the frontmane, singer, and bassist of Gothic Metal band Type C Negative. He also admitted to being a Flat-Earth Atheist for many years prior to his psychiatric treatment and return to his family's faith because he struggled to comprehend the idea of death, suffering, and going to Hell.
  • Invisibility: As a god of Death, he is capable of rendering himself invisible.
  • Karmic Jackpot:
    • His kind, generous treatment of his bandmates, as well as other Metal musicians and bands he toured with, later protected him from War Rock's attempts to publicly humiliate him, since everyone knew of his worst flaws already.
    • Because he still tried to protect people from harm despite his own shortcomings, he was ushered by Audens Manes to the Heaven-Realms reserved for heroes upon death. When he tried Refusing Paradise on the reasoning that his bipolar disorder made him "tainted", the Three Deaths pointed out that he was judged solely based on his heroic deeds and morality in life, not whether he was mentally ill or not.
    • Trying to heal the planet from the corruption of the Void and the Abyssal Ones despite his injuries at the time led to him being healed by the world spirit of Equus and becoming their champion.
  • Lead Bassist: Like Peter Steele, Rock Plower was the frontmane, singer, and bassist for his Gothic Metal Band, Type C Negative. He was also famous in part for his handsome, vampiric looks, which both amused and irritated him. When he died, Type C Negative went with him — his bandmates chose to break up because they didn't want to replace him.
  • Magic Hair: Post-Ascension, his mane and tail became composed of black Nature energy. Following his empowerment by Equus' own world spirit, his mane and tail gain ends that are perpetually decaying, and started showing images of things that inevitably decay like forests, buildings, and monuments.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Lord of Decay", due to being a god of Decay whose divine duties involve destroying natural debris and overgrowth to ensure the coming of new life.
  • Make Them Rot: As a god of Decay, he has the power to make both organic inorganic things decay to nothing, whether through touch or area-of-effect, and manipulate the speed of the decaying process. This allows him to rust his way through metal doors, cause walls to crumble to dust, turn recently-dead organic matter into compost, or slow it to preserve things and prevent degradation. Following his empowerment, he became strong enough to affect divine structures and items. His domain also strengthens his dark magic spells. However, he uses his power constructively by destroying things that needed to be destroyed, such as overgrown forests, natural debris, and overpopulated species.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: He's the youngest of six children, with five older sisters who were like "five extra mothers" to him.
  • Meaningful Name: His name is based on a transliteration of Peter Steele's birth name, Petrus Thomas Ratajczyk, the first and last which translate to "rock" and "plowman" in Latin and Polish, respectively.
  • Mood-Swinger: Justified; he suffered from bipolar disorder even as a young colt, and he was afflicted with mood swings and depressive episodes (among other things) all his life. Despite his condition being relatively unknown at the time, his family still loved and cared for him, and he would later state he was lucky to have people who helped him even when he was at his worst. His condition also made him deeply sympathetic towards anyone who have bipolar disorder like he does.
  • Moving Beyond Bereavement:
    • He felt sad over dying relatively young from what was actually Diverticultis, as he had gotten sober and was making new albums with his band before that. However, he accepted it quicker than most would have in his situation because of his previous experiences with death and the hardships he felt in his life. Reuniting with his dead family members, relatives, and eventually his bandmates in the afterlife also helped.
    • It's later invoked by him, as the entire reason why he chose to become an Angel of Death instead of enjoying his eternal reward in the Heaven-Realms is so he could help those who suffered like he did so they could come to terms with their own mortality. This would inform his domains of Philosophy and Acceptance.
  • Nature Lover: Much like Peter Steele, he had a certain fondness for nature and he once had a job as a park maintenance supervisor that he really enjoyed. This later informed both his postmortem Ascension as a god of Nature, and his interracial friendships with the similarly nature-loving Städterhirsch, whose members also support coexistence with technology.
  • Nature Spirit: He's a god of Nature, which fits his inclinations for nature and his previous experiences in park maintenance.
  • Nice Guy: For all his faults, he was a laidback, generous, and funny (if rather sarcastic and self-deprecating) stallion, and he was fondly remembered by fans and fellow musicians for it. He also became an Angel of Death because he wanted to help those who went through similar hardships and suffered from mental illness, including bipolar disorder, as he did.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: He's based on Peter Steele, the frontman, singer, and bassist of Type O Negative. Much like Steele, he grew up with five older sisters in a family that practiced the Romane Magnean faith (the Codexverse's equivalent to Roman Catholicism), became part of a band that was one of the first pioneers of Gothic Metal, and suffered from both bipolar disorder and other psychological issues for all his life. He also started abusing drugs, which worsened things enough for him to be involuntarily admitted to a psychiatric ward by his concerned sisters. He gets better, but then dies later in the same manner that Steele did — from Diverticultis — with his band, Type C Negative, breaking up since his bandmates didn't want to replace him. The difference here is that unlike Steele, he ends up choosing to become an Angel of Death postmortem, then later Ascends to godhood.
    • By extension, his bandmates in Type C Negative — Silver Star, Bright Flame, and Burnt Oak — are based on Steele's real-life bandmates, Josh Silver, Kenny Hickey, and Sal Abruscato, respectively. Burnt Oak would later be replaced as drummer by Divine Flame, who is based on Johnny Kelly, echoing how Sal Abruscato was replaced by him after the band got famous.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: He resembles a vampire due to having sharp upper canines, but he actually isn't one. Nonetheless, his vampiric appearance contributed to his overall attractiveness to the point where even guys fell in love with him, to his irritation.
  • Performance Anxiety: Despite being a famous musician, he suffered from crippling stage fright and constantly drank to deal with it.
  • Planimal: His true divine form following his empowerment by Equus' world spirit has eldritch traits relating to plants, such as a branch-like horn with small twigs, and a swamp-like body with vegetation like moss, vines, roots, and occasionally flowers growing all over him.
  • Psychic Link: At the end of the "Abyssal Wars", he becomes linked to Equus' entire biosphere, drastically enhancing his divine power to the point where he was able to heal much of the enviromental damage caused by the Abyssal Ones in a relatively short time. It's also believed that he could communicate with Equus' world spirit, who was suffering from arcane corruption when he found them and rewarded him for his selflessness.
  • Refusing Paradise: After dying, he refused to go to the Heaven-Realms and instead tried going to either Purgatory or Hell, feeling that his bipolar disorder "tainted" him. He ends up changing his mind when the Three Deaths explained to him why he deserved Heaven, and that afterlife-realms only judge souls based on morality and deeds. They also revealed that his bipolar disorder was cured upon death, since it is a mood disorder that requires a physical brain to work.
  • Relationship Reveal: He's later revealed to be related to a leading Coltshevik revoltionary from the Hooviet Union, similar to how Peter Steele is known to be related to Joseph Stalin, leader of the Soviet Union between 1924-1953.
  • Remember When You Blew Up a Sun?: When he tried refusing his place in Heaven on the assumption that his bipolar disorder made him "evil" and "tainted", the Three Deaths explained to him that he was put there because he protected people from harm despite his mental illness — including fighting War Rock to lessen the damage he caused. This partially factored into him deciding to stay in Heaven after all.
  • Seers: As a god of Death, he can predict a person's upcoming death, though it's inverted in that he also has retrocognitive abilities to see a person's past, allowing him to judge their postmortem fate. When combined with his Nature domain, he could predict a plant or animal's natural death and ensure it.
  • Sensual Slavs: He has partial Strussian ancestry through his father (his paternal grandfather was a cousin to revolutionary leader Steel Stallion), and he was famous in life partially because of his handsome, vampiric looks, which both amused and irritated him.
  • Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll: Deconstructed. His lifestyle as a musician, combined with his various psychological issues, eventually caused things to get so bad that he was involuntarily admitted to a psychiatric ward by his concerned older sisters.
  • A Shared Suffering: He greatly sympathizes with those who suffered from bipolar disorder like he did. In fact, the entire reason he became an Angel of Death is because he wanted to help them.
  • Soul Power: As a god of Death, he has soul manipulation, making capable of summoning souls, reaping them, and interacting with them directly. He also has authorization to send souls to certain afterlife-realms based on their moralities and actions, such as the Hell-Realms if they were wicked.
  • Stepford Snarker: He was fondly remembered for his sarcastic and self-deprecating sense of humor, but it's also his way of coping with his life's various hardships and his many psychological issues.
  • The Stoic: He's noted to be stoic, but despite this, he's much more emotional (and tormented) than he looks.
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: Much like Peter Steele, he became famous in part for his handsome, vampiric looks, something that both amused and irritated him.
  • Tall, Dark, and Snarky: He was well-known for being rather sarcastic and self-deprecating, though he's also a Stepford Snarker as his unique sense of humor is his way of coping with various psychological issues and hardships.
  • Telepathy: As a god of Acceptance, he has telepathic powers that let him sense, and understand, whatever is preventing people from reaching healthy acceptance.
  • Took a Level in Badass: He started out as an unawakened Earth Pony who was nonetheless incredibly strong due to weightlifting a lot. Seeing others perform magic up close influenced him to research and train himself in magic, becoming a powerful warlock who specialized in nature and biology-based spells. After dying, he became an Angel of Death, then an Alicorn god following years of training and a series of personal epiphanies. At the end of the Third Age, he is linked to Equus' biosphere by his planet's world spirit, who rewarded him for selflessly trying to heal them of their arcane corruption, making him unusually powerful compared to other deities of his generation.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Because he frequently weightlifted, he became stronger than the average (unawakened) Earth Pony; notably, War Rock didn't dare tangle with him physically after an attempt to seduce one of his older sisters got him on the receiving end of a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown. However, he lacked combat finesse, and he struggled against War Rock's dark magic spells for a time because of this. This changed once he learned how to use magic himself, allowing him to fight War Rock on even ground. Learning how to fight under the Three Deaths postmortem resolved the problem even further.
  • What You Are in the Dark:
    • Despite seeing and dismissing War Rock as a pretentious blowhard, he still tried being the better stallion even if War Rock saw him as a potential rival. This changed as War Rock grew bolder in his antagonism, leading to an incident where he snapped and beat up War Rock for trying to seduce one of his older sisters. After that, they openly fought each other up until War Rock's death at Melody and Ace's hooves.
    • Despite being badly injured from the "Abyssal Wars" and falling deep into an inactive volcano, he still tried to heal Equus' planetary core upon seeing the true extent of its corruption. This impresses Equus' world spirit, who resided inside the core, and it rewards him for his selflessness by healing him and linking him to Equus' biosphere.
  • Winged Unicorn: After Ascending to godhood, he became an Alicorn.
  • Wowing Cthulhu: He impressed the world spirit residing in Equus' core by attempting to heal it of its corruption, despite being badly injured himself. He is rewarded when the world spirit heals him in turn and links him to Equus' planetary biosphere, allowing him to heal much of the damage the Abyssal Ones inflicted upon the planet.
  • Youngest Child Wins: Of him and his five older sisters, only he managed to become a famous musician and co-founder of a Gothic Metal band. He was also the only one to learn magic and awaken his dormant Earth Pony magic, becoming a heroic warlock. While he died relatively young, he accepted it and afterward became the only member of his family to first become an Angel of Death, then later a Death god who becomes linked to Equus' biosphere, acting as a champion of sorts for the world spirit living inside Equus' planetary core.

Sir Curtain Call (first introduced here) is the Alicorn god of Death, Villainy, Acting, and Understanding, and is a benevolent member of the Trimortidae.

Malus Manes' family

Broken Fang/Baron Blutmond, the Ceaseless Conqueror

Classification: Ethereal/Ascendant

Portfolio: Death, Temperance, Atonement

Rank: Divine (Tier IV/Greater)

"Even to this day I don't know if I can be truly redeemed. If I ever deserved to be told 'all is forgiven'...but if nothing else, I can try and give back to the world as much as I took away from it."

Broken Fang, formerly known as Baron Blutmond (his entry here), is the Alicorn god of Death, Temperance, and Atonement, and is a former Reichist supervillain who became a member of the Trimortidae after atoning for his many horrible crimes.
  • Abstract Apotheosis: After years of atoning for his sins via serving as an Angel of Death, he would eventually Ascend as an Alicorn god of Death, Temperance, and Atonement, upon which he would be adopted into the Trimortidae by Malus Manes as one of his sons.
  • All Your Powers Combined: After Ascending to godhood, he gained the combined magics of all mortal Pony tribes.
  • Angelic Transformation: He initially was slated for eternal damnation in Malus Manes' Hell-Realms for his crimes as a Reichist supervillain. After repenting, however, he gets turned into an Angel of Death by Malus Manes instead so he could properly atone.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: He's an Alicorn god who embodies Death, Temperance, and Atonement.
  • Aristocrats Are Evil: He was a member of an impoverished Germane noble family that lost its wealth thanks to the aftermath of the First Great War. After joining the Reichists and becoming a member of their Blutwölfe Division, he would be granted the codename "Baron Blutmond", making him a Nazi Nobleman in title. He's also a genocidal supervillain who seemingly enjoyed the atrocities he committed, but was deep down a traumatized, psychological wreck to dissociate himself from the horror of his deeds. It's after dying and being confronted by Malus Manes that he finally repents and stops being this, becoming The Atoner.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: After dying from his own silver bullet, he is confronted postmortem by Malus Manes, who bombards him with questions of this type. At first, Malus' questions are furious and unrelenting, asking him if he's "ready" (to be Dragged Off to Hell) and how many times his victims begged for mercy that he didn't give them. This forces him to face the reality of all the horrible things he did as a Reichist super-soldier and perhaps way before that. Once he reveals his reason for joining the Reichists, Malus' questions become gentler, asking him Was It Really Worth It? in regards to restoring his country's glory and his family's wealth. This finally hits home that what he wanted wasn't worth it since he lost his own equinity in the process. Then Malus proceeds to turn him into an Angel of Death once he made it clear that he genuinely wanted to repent.
  • Armor-Piercing Response: After getting himself mortally wounded by his own silver bullet, he asks Sweetheart why she is so determined to save even a monster like him. Sweetheart answers that even he deserves a second chance and while she can't make the choice for him, she can offer it. It's implied that her response deeply rattled him despite choosing to reject her offer.
Baron Blutmond: Why? Why are you so determined to save someone like me?
Saint Sweetheart: Because everypony deserves a chance to be saved... I can't make the choice to take it for you... but I can offer it.
    Baron Blutmond: ...Hail Uberreich.
  • The Atoner: Upon dying and realizing that he had wasted his life being a genocidal monster, he was given a chance to make up for it by becoming an Angel of Death working under Malus Manes. This included dragging down the spirits of fellow unrepentant Uberreich members like Endsieg to the Hell-Realms to face eternal punishment. Eventually, he would Ascend as a god of Atonement, allowing him to sense people's desire for atonement and use his power to reward or curse people for their efforts in atonement (or lack of it).
  • Be All My Sins Remembered: He feels immensely remorseful over all the suffering he had caused in his life as a genocidal supervillain and refuses to accept praise or forgiveness, noting that he still isn't sure if he could ever forgive himself or make up for all of it.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: After atoning for his sins and Ascending to godhood, he became a kind, dilligent, and protective Reaper towards the souls he ushers, and is genuinely remorseful for all the sins he committed in life. However, even after repenting, he still hadn't lost his edge from his time as a Reichist super-soldier, and reserves his fury and terrifying reputation only for wicked souls.
  • Blood Knight: Deconstructed. He was a bloodthirsty Reichist super-soldier and Werewolf who seemingly enjoyed fighting and killing others. However, as Metamare and Sweetheart discovered, it was a mask he put up to shield himself from both his PTSD and the horror of what he was doing. Despite both superheroines' best efforts to help him snap out of it, he remained loyal to his cause, but it's after being confronted by Malus Manes that he finally accepts that what he was doing is wrong and drops his mask, only reserving it for the truly wicked and unrepentant.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: His attempt to capture the crypt Queen Sunsparkle was resting in, but not only was he intercepted by Dame Black Knight, but Sunsparkle awoke and quickly defeated him by nearly breaking him in half despite his liquid metal armor and Werewolf form. Such is the power of Sunsparkle's Majestic Power.
  • Defiant to the End: A villainous example. Despite both Metamare and Sweetheart's attempts to make him realize the error of his ways and pull a Heel–Face Turn, he stayed loyal to his cause and, after being fatally wounded, spent his last moments spiting his opponents by praising the Uberreich. He ends up changing his mind when Malus Manes confronts him with all his sins postmortem, causing him to realize how much of his life he had wasted fighting for a truly horrific cause.
  • Deity of Human Origin: He was originally a mortal Earth Pony and a metallic-furred Werewolf who, after genuinely repenting for his crimes as a Reichist supervillain postmortem, eventually Ascended to godhood as the Alicorn god of Death, Temperance, and Atonement.
  • Don't Fear the Reaper: Like Malus Manes, he's someone no one wants to meet when they die because he represents the eternal torment wicked souls would face upon death. However, he is very diligent at his job, is generally kind and protective towards the souls he ushers, and is remorseful over his past actions as a Reichist super-soldier. He reserves his anger and terrifying nature for those who died unrepentant.
  • Dragged Off to Hell: Narrowly averted. Upon dying from an accidentally self-inflicted gunshot wound to the eye (specifically, his own enchanted silver bullet), he was met by Malus Manes, who intended to drag him away to the Hell-Realms to be tormented eternally for his sins. It's during the ensuing conversation that he realizes that he wasted his entire life focusing on restoring his family wealth and being a genocidal monster, and genuinely repents. As a reward, Malus Manes turns him into an Angel of Death instead so he could properly atone for his crimes.
  • Embodiment of Virtue: Post-Ascension, he embodies the virtue of Temperance, which gives him abilities like projecting an aura that promotes self-restraint and calms people, and a natural immunity to rage-based spells and the means to counter them.
  • The Empath: As a god of Atonement, he can sense if a person's remorse and desire to atone is genuine.
  • Eye Scream: He ends up dying by his own silver bullet, which he tried killing Sweetheart's friend Bon Bon with (on account of her being a Werefox Alpha), only to end up falling on his own gun and making it misfire, shooting the silver bulet into one of his eyes.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: He went from an impoverished noble whose family lost everything because of the aftermath of the First Great War, to a (seemingly) bloodthirsty and sadistic Reichist supervillain who also could turn into a Werewolf. Fortunately, he repented after death, saving himself from being Dragged Off to Hell.
  • God of the Dead: As a god of Death, he possesses powers like weapon-summoning, death-based clairvoyance, and Invisibility. However, as one of Malus Manes' children, he specializes in his adoptive father's brand of abilities, such as weaponizing wicked people's sins.
  • Happily Adopted: He ends up being adopted into the Trimortidae as one of Malus Manes' sons after Ascending to godhood.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: In his final confrontation with Sweetheart, he tried shooting her friend, Bon Bon, with an enchanted silver bullet due to Bon Bon being a Werefox Alpha... only for him to fall on his own gun in the following scuffle and causing it to fire into one of his eyes. While the bullet didn't hit deep enough to cause brain damage, it still poisoned him sufficiently to cripple and kill him.
  • Immortality Begins at Twenty: Subverted; the biology of deities in the Codexverse is vastly different from that of mortals, and thus only get Stronger with Age the 'older' they are. As a "Tier IV"-ranked god from the Second Age, he is very ancient and powerful, with eldritch traits like a rippling energy mane and a winged gradient.
  • Impoverished Patrician: He came from a Germane noble family that lost all of their wealth and glory due to the aftermath of the First Great War, and his primary goal for joining the Reichists is to restore Germaney to its former greatness so he could restore his family wealth. However, when this only results in him dying, he realizes that all the horrible things he did in the name of his country and family weren't worth it at all, which pushes him to repent after death.
  • Karmic Death: He dies when he tries to shoot Bon Bon (who is a Werefox Alpha) with an enchanted silver bullet, only to accidentally fall on his own gun and shoot himself in the eye, the only body part not protected by his liquid metal armor. Considering all the atrocities he committed as both a Reichist supervillain and a member of the werebeast Blutwölfe division, he certainly had it coming, and would have been Dragged Off to Hell by Malus Manes if he hadn't genuinely repented.
  • Karmic Jackpot:
    • After being confronted by the reality of his sins postmortem, he realizes he wasted his entire life running away from his traumas and venting his anger over losing his family's legacy upon the world, and genuinely repents. In response, Malus Manes doesn't drag him off to the Hell-Realms, but instead turns him into an Angel of Death so he could properly atone for his sins. Not only that, but his atonement gets praise from Kaiserin, his former commanding officer who saw his true character and desired for him to reawaken his inner kindness.
Kaiserin: I remember seeing a Pony beneath the baron and the werewolf who was scared to death of what he saw and did, and let himself be subsumed by his own monstrous persona to get away from the horror and the pain. I had always hoped one day the Pony would awake again and conquer the monster, and it would seem I was correct. Well done, Broken Fang.
    • Invoked by him post-Ascension; as a god of Atonement, he has the power to reward others for their atonement.
  • Kids Are Cruel: When he was a young colt, he bullied another foal. This comes back to haunt him as one of many sins Malus Manes weaponizes to show him how he wasted his entire life on being cruel to others.
  • Locked into Strangeness: As a result of being injected with an experimental "Liquid Metal Armor" in his mortal youth, his mane and tail turned silver because the liquid metal poisoned the roots. When he Ascended to godhood postmortem, he gains a silver and black mane made of rippling Temperance energy.
  • Meaningful Name: His alias/codename, Blutmond, translates to "blood moon" in German. In life, he was a Reichist supersoldier and supervillain who, on a mission to a castle, was attacked and infected by a werewolf that he managed to kill with a silver dagger. This feat earned him a spot in the Blutwölfe division ("blood wolf") that his superiors had him infect. He also appeared to be a psychopathic Blood Knight who enjoyed killing, but deep down he suffered from PTSD and guilt over what he did and tried repressing it.
  • Meaningful Rename: His birth name is Broken Fang, but was later given the Reichist codename "Baron Blutmond" after killing a werewolf that massacred his squad with a silver dagger. Blutmond translates to "blood moon" in German, referring to his werewolf status and his more monstrous aspects, including his sadistic Blood Knight facade. After dying and repenting for his crimes as a Reichist supervillain, he changes his name back to Broken Fang — in other words, he had been "de-fanged" of everything that made him a monster and restored his own equinity.
  • Morality-Guided Attack: As a Death god of Malus Manes' line, he specializes in weaponizing the sins of those he comes to drag off to the Hell-Realms.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: While his resolve was already weakened by Metamare's and Saint Sweetheart's attempts to redeem him, being confronted with all his sins by Malus Manes upon death finally made him realize to his horror, guilt and despair that he had wasted his life causing suffering and death as a genocidal supervillain. Ironically his genuine repentance was what resulted in him receiving a Last-Second Chance to make up for the damage he caused by being appointed as an Angel of Death.
  • Nazi Nobleman: He was a scion of an impoverished Germane noble House that lost everything in the aftermath of the First Great War, prompting him to do anything to restore his fallen country to greatness and bring back his family's wealth and prestige. It's not until he joins the Reichists that he is given the codename of Baron Blutmond, after being infected with Werewolfism and infecting a group of elite soldiers that would become the Herrenhelden's Blutwölfe division.
  • Our Angels Are Different: He became an Angel of Death upon dying and repenting for the crimes he committed as a Reichist supervillain. This allows him to usher souls into the afterlife realms, as well as condemn wicked souls to a horrible existence of eternal torment, which is what he did to fellow Uberreich members like Endsieg who stayed unrepentant.
  • Our Gods Are Different: He is an "Ascendant deity", the rarest of the three main types of deities, as well as an Ethnic God in that as an Alicorn, he represents all mortal Pony tribes, giving him access to their racial magics by manifesting their chimeric traits at will. In his case, however, he became a God of the Dead, which gives him power over the dead and allows him to condemn wicked souls to horrible fates as punishment for their crimes. He also gets Stronger with Age as he grows "older" due to deities being biologically and magically different from mortals.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: At one point, while on a mission to a castle, he became infected with lycanthropism after being bitten by an ancient Werewolf that also killed most of his squad. As a result of the incident, he gained supernatural ferocity, strength, endurance, and functional immortality as long as he remains cursed. Combined with the experimental "Liquid Metal Armor" he was injected with prior to this, he became nigh-unkillable even against things that would kill a normal Werewolf. He becomes even stronger once he repents for his crimes and Ascends to godhood, as he is now an Alicorn god with the ability to turn into a divine Werewolf. However, it's noted he still have the typical Werewolf weaknesses himself, but being a god makes this less of a problem than it normally would be.
  • Personality Powers:
    • In his mortal life, as a (Neo-)Reichist Super-Soldier, he possessed enhanced abilities along with an experimental liquid metal armor that protected him from most attacks, including bullets. He later became a werewolf after a mission led to his squad being massacred by a werewolf and him getting bitten by it, which got him a place in the Blutwölfe division. All this points to how fighting for the Reichist cause was literally and psychologically changing him into a monster, reviled and hated by much of the world.
    • After repenting for his crimes postmortem and Ascending to godhood, he became the Alicorn god of Death, Temperance, and Atonement. His domain of Death makes him, like Malus Manes, a representation of the hellish torment wicked souls would face upon death. His domains of Temperance and Atonement help people develop self-restraint enough to realize their mistakes and and atone for their sins, just as he did after dying.
  • Physical God: As an Alicorn god, he is one. Being a Death god gives him the power to usher souls into various afterlife realms and condemn them to a horrible fate in the Hell-Realms should they be found wanting. And as a god of Temperance and Atonement, he is The Empath who can promote self-restraint and possesses immunity to emotion-based spells, and he can sense people's desire to atone and either reward them for their atonement or punish the wicked with curses that would only break if they genuinely repented. What makes him even stronger is that he is also a divine Werewolf with liquid metal armor, both which carried over from his mortal days as a Reichist supervillain.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: In his mortal youth, he was a red-furred Earth Pony stallion with a black mane and tail, though being injected with an experimental liquid metal armor turned his hair silver from metallic poisoning before it became black and silver following his postmortem Ascension. Initially, he was a Reichist supervillain and Werewolf who appeared to be a psychopathic Blood Knight who enjoyed committing atrocities for his faction's cause, but deep down he was an extremely Shell-Shocked Veteran who wanted to dissociate himself from the horror and guilt he felt. It's later averted when, after dying from his own enchanted silver bullet during a fight with Sweetheart and others, he finally realizes he became a monster and wasted his life running away from the truth. After working under Malus Manes as an Angel of Death for many years, he would eventually Ascend as a god of Death, Temperance, and Atonement, helping repentant people achieve redemption while condemning unrepentant ones to eternal torment.
  • Redemption Rejection: Despite being offered a chance for redemption by Saint Sweetheart, he chose to die clinging to his beliefs and spat in Sweetheart's face by uttering "Hail Uberreich". This turns out to be a big mistake, as upon death, his lack of repentance gets him confronted by Malus Manes, who forces him to face his own sins and realize the truth that he became a monster. Fortunately, he genuinely repents after that, and things get better for him onward.
  • Riches to Rags: He was born a member of a Germane noble family who lost everything due to the aftermath of the First Great War. The loss of his family wealth and status left him bitter and desperate enough to seek ways to restore Germaney to its former glory, leading to him throwing in his lot with the Reichists. However, this only leads to his death, and he realizes thanks to Malus Manes that all the horrible things he did to restore his family fortune weren't worth it at all.
  • Sole Survivor: He was the sole survivor of a Germane military experimental project to make soldiers invulnerable to most small-arms weaponry by injecting a 'Liquid Metal Armour' just below the skin.
  • Super-Soldier: Like some of his fellow Herrenvolk/Uberreich comrades, he was a subject (and Sole Survivor) of a Reichmacht military experimental project which attempts to make him nigh-invulnerable via injecting a 'Liquid Metal Armour' into his skin, making him impervious to most small-arms weaponry. And this was before he got bitten and became a Werewolf — after that happened, he ended up creating supersoldiers himself by biting and infecting enough volunteer soldiers with lycanthropy to form the Blutwölfe Division, a unit consisting of werewolves like himself, minus his liquid metal armour.
  • Was It Really Worth It?: After showing him all of his sins and causing him to reveal his reasons for joining the Reichists, Malus asks him if restoring his country's glory and his family's wealth was worth becoming a genocidal monster in the end. He answers no, it wasn't worth it at all.
  • Winged Unicorn: Like the rest of the Trimortidae, he's an Alicorn, which he became after centuries of atonement.
  • The Worf Effect: His Lycanthropy and Liquid Metal Armour made him a dangerous Reichist supervillain to face in the battlefield. He still barely survived when he ended up facing a newly-reawakened Queen Sunsparkle during the failed Axis invasion of the Bitish Isles and was nearly broken in half by her, demonstrating just how incredibly strong she was thanks to being imbued with the Majestic Power.

    Double Helix, the (WIP)

Classification: Ascendant

Portfolio: Death, Addiction, Enlightenment, Spirit

Rank: Divine (Tier IV/Greater)

  • Anthropomorphic Personification: He's a Zebralicorn god who embodies Death, Addiction, Enlightenment, and Spirit.
  • Back from the Dead: Zigzagged. After dying from a drug overdose, he was one of many musicians and celebrities who was revived decades later, kicking off the 'Big Comeback Tour' event. This caught the attention of the Three Deaths, making him desperate to keep living at all costs and driving him to participate in his fellow celebrities' atrocities. Moon Ray Vaughoof, who idolized him, chews him out when he discovers the truth, but later decides to help him atone for his crimes after coming to understand why he did it. Thanks to Moon Ray, he Ascends to godhood, but because he became a Death god, he's technically still dead as his nature is bound to the afterlife realms he looks after.
  • Broken Ace: He's an incredibly talented music prodigy who is admired by many and served as an inspiration for future generations of musicians, including Blues legend Moon Ray Vaughoof. However, as Moon Ray discovered the hard way, he is actually a very flawed person who made lots of serious mistakes in both life and death.
  • Broken Pedestal: He was idolized by Moon Ray Vaughoof, who saw him as one of his biggest inspirations in terms of guitar-playing. He later got chewed out when Moon Ray discovered he was one of the celebrities who took over the town of Applewood. However, after letting go of his own past and coming to understand why he did it, Moon Ray decided to help him redeem himself in hopes of turning him back into the good stallion he once admired.
  • Celebrity Power: Jimi Hendrix is one of the most legendary and influential guitarists whose experimental applications of feedback and distortion revolutionized both rock music and how people played electric guitars. Double Helix is essentially the Codexverse's Ponified version of Hendrix who, as a result of changes in both circumstances and choices in his life, ends up becoming the Zebralicorn god of Death, Addiction, Enlightenment, and Spirit.
  • Composite Character: He's largely based on Jimi Hendrix, with elements of his appearance as a villainous musician in the televised adaptation of "You Know They Got a Hell of a Band" by Stephen King.
  • Deity of Human Origin: He was originally a mortal Zebra who rose to stardom as a musical prodigy, until he died of a drug overdose. When he was revived decades later, his desire to live drove him to do horrible things that naturally got him in trouble with the Three Deaths and their children. However, thanks to Moon Ray Vaughoof, who gains understanding of his reasons after coming to terms with them, he succeeds in atoning for his crimes, leading to his Ascension.
  • Divine Parentage: He becomes an adoptive son of Malus Manes after Ascending to godhood and joining the Trimortidae. This means that through adoption, he is a grandson of Obitus Equus, the Empyrean Reaper, and a great-grandon of King Equus, who created sapient Equidkind.
  • Heel–Face Turn: He was among the revived musicians who took part in the horrors of Applewood, leading to Moon Ray furiously chewing him out for it when he finds out. However, after coming to understand why he did it, Moon Ray decides to help him atone for his crimes. Moon Ray apparently succeeded, as he later Ascends to godhood and joins the Trimortidae as one of Malus Manes' adoptive sons.
  • Historical Relationship Overhaul: Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix were completely unrelated to each other in real life, with Hendrix dying from a drug overdose in several years before Vaughan's rise to fame. Here, as Moon Ray Vaughoof and Double Helix, respectively, they became adoptive cousins post-mortem after Ascending to godhood and joining the Trimortidae. Moon Ray was also responsible for Double Helix overcoming the flaws that plagued Hendrix by giving the latter a good chewing-out.
  • Historical Villain Upgrade: As he was partially based on Jimi Hendrix from the televised adaptation of "You Know They Got a Hell of a Band", he was hit with this. During the 'Big Comeback Tour', he, alongside other wicked celebrities, took an entire town captive, forced its helpless residents to attend concerts that lasted for years inside the town, and lured in unsuspecting victims to increase his audience. Fortunately, he later realized what he did after Moon Ray chewed him out, and, with Moon Ray's help, pulled a Heel–Face Turn and atoned for his actions.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: He's based on Jimi Hendrix, a legendary musician whom Stevie Ray Vaughan idolized. However, he also has elements of his appearance in the televised adaptation of "You Know They Got a Hell of a Band" by Stephen King, being a villainous musician who traps innocent people in Rock n' Roll Heaven.
  • Physical God: As a Zebralicorn from the Second Age, he is one.
  • Psychic Powers: Being a god of Enlightenment implies he has psychic powers, as other Enlightenment deities like Satori and Princess Voľná Láska have them.
  • Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll: Deconstructed. Like Jimi Hendrix, he became a drug addict over time in his music career, which culminated in him dying young from an overdose. This played a huge part in his fall into villainy — when he was revived decades later, he tried returning to his old life and reviving his music career, only to be pursued by various Death deities because of his status as an escaped soul. His desperation drove him to participate in the takeover of Applewood, which inevitably got him caught when the Trimortidae and their allies executed a plan to rescue the captive townsponies. Not only that, discovering his crimes causes one of his fans and admirers, Moon Ray Vaughoof, to lose all respect for him... though Moon Ray eventually changes his mind and helps him atone for his actions so he can once again become the stallion Moon Ray admired as a colt. He apparently succeeded as he's now a Zebralicorn god.
  • Winged Unicorn: He is one, though he's specifically a Zebralicorn with the combined chimeric traits of all mortal Zebra tribes, including Kelpbras and Abadas.

  • Alliterative Name: Silver Scales.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: She is an Alicorn goddess who embodies Death, Justice, Karma, and Righteousness.
  • Like Father, Unlike Son: Unlike her villainous, sociopathic birth father, War Rock, she is both a benevolent musician and a benevolent goddess whose domains revolve around administering fair and righteous justice to the dead.
