"That is mental illness. Check yourself in, man."note

Highcraft is a Minecraft Let's Play series created by cscoop in March 2022, where him and a group of his friends play the game while high, as the title suggests.

There are two main elements to the series:

  • Playing through old-school challenge maps, with each player taking a bong rip when a challenge is completed.
  • The SMP(s), seen in "The Boofing of Travesville" and "I raised his property value."

The official playlist for the series can be found here. You can support the series on Cooper's Patreon, which allows you to watch the videos a week early.

Highcraft contains examples of:

  • Beware the Silly Ones: Despite his silly behavior, Travis is highly competent and also a danger, as he's not above attacking his teammates.
  • Big Fancy Castle: The group finds a huge abandoned castle base in "2b2stoned". They decide to write a book to put in a chest inside it.
  • Bizarrchitecture: Everything Cooper builds tends to fall under this, but especially the bridge he made entirely out of chains.
  • Blatant Lies: When Sam is trying to get everyone to sleep so they can skip the night, and someone's still awake, Travis insists it's not him. It is. Cooper even adds "[lying voice]" to the subtitles.
  • Boss Battle: The main goal in "HIGHLIGHT FOREST" is defeating the various bosses.
  • Brief Accent Imitation: "2b2stoned" features several instances of the gang doing bad German accents.
  • Buffy Speak: Travis frequently engages in this type of language, such as struggling to remember the word for flint and steel, and managing to say "flint and fire steel" instead.
  • Cactus Cushion: Bollz injures himself on a cactus for a good while, which is brought up by Cooper later when discussing his suicidal tendencies.
  • Censored for Comedy: In "HIGHLIGHT FOREST", Cooper censors Hypixel, and subtitles on screen read "pay me Simon"note .
  • The Chew Toy: Joko is frequently tormented by the others, particularly Cooper, who goes out of his way to manually recreate his house in the sky in the video "I raised his property value.".
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Everyone in the series tends to be one, though it's justified given the intoxication of everyone involved. Cooper, Alex, or Joko sometimes end up filling the role of the Only Sane Man, but they're just as prone to cuckoolander tendencies as the rest of the cast.
  • Color-Coded Speech: The subtitles are always color-coded, and usually don't change for the main regulars. Cooper is white, which never changes. Other notable regulars include Boywucci (orange), Barce (yellow), Joko (green), Bollz/Alex (aqua), Logan (light blue), Travis (dark blue), and Irush (purple). Sam is usually pink, though in "2b2stoned" his text is changed to yellow for whatever reason.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Travis is one of the largest Cloudcuckoolanders in the series and is also highly capable.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Many of the players end up speaking in deadpan and making snarky comments about each other, but particularly Cooper, Bollz and Joko.
  • Didn't Think This Through: In "2b2stoned", Joko trying to swim several thousand blocks to meet up with the group. He drowns, just in case you were wondering.
  • Don't Try This at Home: In "HIGHLIGHT FOREST", when Travis starts asking where his car keys are (in reference to doing cocaine), text appears on screen that says "HE'S JOKING DON'T DO THAT PLS".
  • Do You Want to Copulate?: Sam in "AETHER HIGHCRAFT":
Sam: Does anyone wanna get sexual?
    Sam: Does anybody wanna mate?
  • Drinking Game: Without the drinking. The challenge map playthroughs are basically drinking games with weed - for every objective completed, players take a bong rip, and if they die and need to be teleported back, that's another one.
  • Easily Impressed: In "AETHER HIGHCRAFT", Boywucci doesn't understand the machine Cooper is making whatsoever, but is impressed nonetheless.
Boywucci: Cooper, how's your thing coming?
Cooper: I think I have an idea, I'll try to explain it.
Boywucci: Alright, I won't comprehend but I love to hear your voice!
  • Egopolis: Travesville from the SMP, named after Travis (AKA supertraves).
  • Event Title: "The Boofing of Travesville" is named after an in-game conflict on the SMP.
  • Everybody Must Get Stoned: The main premise of the series. Sometimes ends up with certain players taking numerous bong rips in a short period of time.
  • Everything Is Racist: In "AETHER HIGHCRAFT", Sam accuses Travis of being antisemitic for placing a sign that says Sam smells.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: A bunch of people play Minecraft high.
  • Explosive Stupidity: In "INFERNAL HIGH II", the group gets warned that letting a creeper blow up near one of the big creeper statues will cause a larger explosion. They accidentally trigger all of them to explode. The explosion is so bad that the server crashes.
  • Funny Background Event: A frequent happening, since the viewer is locked to Cooper's perspective.
    • "AETHER HIGHCRAFT": You can see Sam and Irushtheworld imitating sex acts on a bed in the background.
    • "2b2stoned": Joko and Sam have a couple funny exchanges when they're separated from the rest of the group, but especially:
Joko: Saaaaam? Whatcha buildin' there, bud?
  • Fun with Subtitles: Cooper subtitles most of the Highcraft videos himself, and likes to do silly things with them, such as putting people yelling in fire gif text, adding tidbits like [lying voice], replacing swear words with sound-alikes ("dickhead" is "deckhand"), and more.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!:
    • Travis doesn't swear, unlike the others.
    • All of the captions are censored, replacing swear words with various other words.
  • Gotta Catch Them All: In several of the challenge videos, the main goal is for the players to collect all the colored wools.
  • Ham and Deadpan Duo: Cooper is the deadpan to Travis's Large Ham.
Travis: Okay, I got one last fire charge, I gotta put it where it counts!
    Cooper: Please don't.
  • Idiosyncratic Episode Naming: Most of the video titles for the challenge videos are puns based on the name of the mod or map and "high".
  • Info Dump: "The Boofing of Travesville" includes a 50+ page book detailing the history of the SMP and its conflicts, that the group read aloud.
  • In-Series Nickname: "The Boofing of Travesville" gives us "Lord Boofington I" for Logan.
  • Insistent Terminology: The back and forth Joko and Cooper have in "2b2stoned" about Joko's "gooning shack", and what the word "gooning" means.
Joko: You guys are in here talkin' about jerking off! It's a gooning shack!
Cooper: Yeah, and what does that mean, Joko?
  • Lethally Stupid: So many of them end up endangering themselves and their teammates through pure stupidity. Especially Logan.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • "DROPPER HIGHCRAFT" features a callback to Minecraft Monday, a tournament that cscoop and Traves used to compete in back in 2019. A clip from Minecraft Monday where Cooper is playing The Dropper is played.
    • In "2b2stoned", the phrase "FEATHER, INK SAC AND A BOOK!", which comes from an older video where RoastedJames says the phrase in a funny tone.
  • Never Learned to Read: The group has Logan read out the rules in "INFERNAL HIGH II". He struggles with this, trying to sound the words out loud, much to everyone else's annoyance.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • Peeing in Logan's suitcase is constantly referenced in Highcraft, especially as a threat.note
    • In "AETHER HIGHCRAFT", "one time I locked Joko in the Nether". This is not elaborated on.
  • Not Quite Flight: A glitch in "INFERNAL HIGH II" makes it look like Travis is walking on air, much to the editor's confusion.
  • Perfectly Cromulent Word: In "DROPPER HIGHCRAFT", Cooper says "inquisitive ignacious". While inquisitive is a real word, "ignacious" is not.
  • Portmantitle: "High" + "Minecraft".
  • Pun: In "AETHER HIGHCRAFT", Cooper makes one out of Irushtheworld's username.
Cooper: Why are we in such a rush? ...An Irush!
  • Pun-Based Title: Many of the challenge videos are titled after puns.
    • "SURVIVAL HIGHLAND" and "SUNBURN HIGHLANDS" are both puns on "island".
    • "HIGHBLOCK" is a pun on "Skyblock".
    • "I raised his property value." is a pun in that the video is about Cooper literally raising Joko's house into the sky.
    • "HIGHLIGHT FOREST" is a pun on The Twilight Forest.
  • Pyromaniac: In "HIGHLIGHT FOREST", Travis has a fascination with fire and can't seem to stop lighting things ablaze, including his own teammates.
  • Sarcasm Mode: When Travis says he isn't the one still awake, the subtitles quickly add "[lying voice]" in small text.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Cooper's reaction to Joko's "gooning shack" in "2b2stoned".
    Cooper: Okay, I'm leaving.
  • Self-Imposed Challenge: In-Universe - While most of the challenges are built in to the map being played, "2b2stoned" has challenges fitting to the 2b2t server that are self-imposed.
  • Sensory Abuse: Cooper's editing style frequently includes sped up building montages with random memes inserted. This results in odd noises and these sections being generally overstimulating.
  • Shout-Out: In "INFERNAL HIGH II", Cooper says "we're going in Mission: Impossible style", and the group starts singing the theme song.
  • Simpleton Voice: Travis often plays this up for laughs by saying silly things in a high-pitched or loud voice.
  • Spice Up the Subtitles: Inverted. All swears in the subtitles are replaced with soundalikes.
  • Stoners Are Funny: The higher the players get, the more nonsensical and hilarious their antics become.
  • Stoner Flick: The series revolves entirely around stoners playing Minecraft.
  • Stopped Dead in Their Tracks: Played for Laughs when Logan joins the game with the username YODIEgangBOOF, causing Cooper to stop mid-sentence to read it out with disbelief.
  • Take That!: In some of the later episodes, Cooper has started to include "Dream fans get lost" at the start.
  • Team Mom: Cooper can often end up filling this role to the others. In "HIGHLIGHT FOREST", he refers to himself as a "base mom".
  • Teleportation Rescue: Players are allowed to be teleported to safety with a catch.
  • Teleportation with Drawbacks: To be teleported back to the group, a player has to take another bong rip.
  • Title Drop: "HIGHLIGHT FOREST" contains a few, such as Travis saying that it's "not a real Highcraft video" if it doesn't take at least 5 hours.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Travis charging at a creeper with no armor on in "INFERNAL HIGH II".
  • You're Insane!: Joko's reaction in "I raised his property value."
Joko: Okay, you're... an insane person. Who needs to be put in a fucking mental asylum.

A clip from "AETHER HIGHCRAFT" featuring subtitles that include fire GIF text for Sam's yelling, and the addition of "[lying voice]" when Travis is saying he's not the one still awake.

How well does it match the trope?
