As the gang handle the aftermath of the Moloch affair, a visitor brings a vision that changes everything.

Tropes:

  • Armored Closet Gay: Possibly. Kevin sees his father and Frank, both of whom disapproved of his homosexuality, together in a hotel room, giving a new reason for their disapproval of his behavior earlier this season.
  • The Bus Came Back: Mrs. Thornton is rehired after Archie asks Mr. Weatherbee about it.
  • Did Not Get the Girl: Jughead remembers his life in the other timeline, and considers a relationship with Tabitha. Angel Tabitha however, tells him she cannot stay in this timeline, and the Tabitha of this timeline will not end up with him either.
  • Incompatible Orientation: Possibly. Tom Keller and Frank Andrews are hinted to now be in a relationship. If so, it could be that this was the reason for Kevin's parents' divorce, as his mother did tell him it was something that couldn't be fixed, and there are sometimes too many differences between a man and a woman.
  • Karma Houdini: Variations.
    • Dr. Werthers, despite his support of the Blossoms, and everything he did to comic books while backed up by Mr. Blossom, isn't punished, instead leaving Riverdale to work for the President to continue to slander comic books, and leaving behind his tribunal to continue to censor them, even rejecting the last comic himself.
    • Principal Featherhead, despite his own support of the Blossoms, apparently including their illegal activities, is allowed to simply resign instead of being prosecuted by the FBI. Downplayed as the accusations of him supporting the Blossoms played a role in his resignation, and will presumably continue to affect his life.
    • Hal Cooper, after his affair is exposed and his treatment of Ethel, is not divorced by Alice and is allowed to continue living in the Cooper house. Downplayed as he does move into the basement bedroom and it's implied his daughter Betty no longer respects him. However, after Alice bonds further with Betty and is told it's not too late for her to be happy, it's possible this might change.
    • Mr. Fieldstone and Jughead, after writing a comic not approved by the tribunal, publish it anyway and distribute it. Downplayed, in that while they are not punished legally, Mr. Fieldstone does close Pep Comics due to the tribunal not approving, putting them both out of a job. Also justified, as it would be difficult to punish them legally if Pep Comics is no longer in business.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Telling of the future, Jughead warns the group, "some of you may not recognize yourselves" as he looks at Reggie and Dilton. Both characters were played by two different actors over the course of the show. invoked
  • Put on a Bus:
    • Principal Featherhead resigns after being accused of assisting the Blossoms in their schemes, and his position is filled by Mr. Weatherbee.
    • Dr. Werthers resigns and leaves for Washington D.C., to continue his campaign against comic books.
    • Angel Tabitha returns for one final time and leaves again after restoring their memories of the other timeline and confirming the Tabitha of this timeline will not return.
    • Mrs. Grundy, offscreen, is replaced after Mrs. Thornton is rehired.
    • Mr. Fieldstone closes Pep Comics due to the best work they ever made being rejected. Due to Jughead no longer having the job there, he does not appear again.
  • Recursive Canon: An odd example where the show exists In-Universe without actually being filmed. Angel Tabitha apparently creates the show using her powers as a way to give her friends their memories back after she erased them.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Possibly. Kevin goes to see his father at the motel he is staying at. Tom answers the door in his bathrobe, and Kevin sees Frank stepping out of the bathroom wearing nothing but a towel. Frank claims the shower in his room simply isn't working, but Kevin does not believe him.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: A variation. After Dr. Werthers' tribunal rejects the comic version of The Comet due to it featuring an interracial relationship, Mr. Fieldstone publishes it anyway, but has Pep Comics close afterward, and has Jughead write its eulogy and include it in the comic.
  • Timey-Wimey Ball: Angel Tabitha explains she managed to repair the timelines to prevent the end of Earth in the future but can't bring anyone forward to 2023. Instead, they have to stay in this altered 1950s and take The Slow Path.
  • "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: A variation: Angel Tabitha tells Jughead that the Tabitha of this timeline will eventually settle in Chicago, attend business school and law school, and become a civil rights advocate, but she and Jughead ultimately don't end up together.
