Title from: Archie: To Riverdale and Back Again (1990)

Betty is stuck overseeing Homecoming and Reunion weekend, but Alice wants her to help with the Jason Blossom investigation. Alice turns to Archie and Veronica for help, but when Betty discovers they are working with her mom, she is not happy. After seeing his father FP start to clean up his act, Jughead wonders if it’s the right time to give him another chance. Cheryl and Polly have both decided to go to Homecoming in Jason’s honor, until a revelation waylays their plans. Meanwhile, Fred and Mary attend the Homecoming dance, leaving Fred to possibly reconsider the divorce.

Tropes

  • A Lady on Each Arm: Fred enters the dance with Mary on one arm, and Hermione Lodge on the other. It's a callback to the very first episode when Archie does the same with Betty and Veronica. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree that's for sure.
  • Cover Version: Archie and Veronica do "Kids In America" at the high school reunion.
  • Cryptic Conversation: Between Cheryl and Polly. "If you think those babies will guarantee you safety, you're in for a rude awakening." Was that a threat, or a warning?
  • Fanservice: Archie's chest gets another airing when he and Jughead are in the bedroom (not that way). Also, Veronica and Cheryl at the reunion. Oh my.
  • High-School Dance: The second one this season.
  • Love Confessor: Betty angrily and tearfully delivers one to her mother, admitting she loves Jughead.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: FP shaves for the first time in ages and generally starts acting more upbeat. Jughead suspects something's up.
  • The Reveal: Twice.
      Advertisement:
    • FP gets arrested, and it appears that he's been framed.
    • Fred and Mary are apparently starting to reconsider the divorce.
  • Wham Line: Two this episode.
    • Mary offers Archie to move with her, believing Riverdale is no longer safe. This implies she knows more than she's letting on.
    • "FP has been arrested for the murder of Jason Blossom."
  • Wham Shot: When his home is being searched by cops, FP is horrified to see they have found a gun—which he apparently does not recall owning.
  • What Could Possibly Go Wrong?: Really, Archie and Veronica? It's already bad enough to break into someone's house behind their back (especially when it's a friend), but leaving the door unlocked?
