In the aftermath of the prison break at Hiram's jail, Archie leads the charge to round up the remaining convicts on the loose. Tabitha reaches out for Betty's help when she realises Jughead is missing. When Penelope re-enters the fold, Cheryl becomes suspicious of her true intentions.

Tropes:

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Jughead accuses Betty of being this in his voicemail.
  • The Bus Came Back: It's just Veronica's luck that as she's trying to sell her ancient jewel, Dodger and Darla show up and rob her.
  • Evil Pays Better: Quoted nearly word for word by Reggie.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Invoked by Veronica in how it's better Archie doesn't know the legal details of her issues with Chad. He accepts it but thinks it's best they don't get involved during it, which she reluctantly agrees with.
  • Muse Abuse: Jessica is afraid that Jughead has written about her life without her consent the same way he did with his supposed friends from Riverdale in his first novel, 'The Outcasts'. This prompts Betty and Tabitha to give Jughead's manuscript to Jess, so she is safe from that happening.
  • Mushroom Samba: Jess slips Tabitha and Betty psychedelics and encourages them to ride it out in the bunker, which they do.
  • The Reveal: Reggie's father borrowed money from Hiram after making some insufficient payments, which is why Reggie now works for him.
    • Jughead attempted to keep in touch with Betty after they broke up in high school, but she would rarely reply and he was surprised when she would answer him. He invited Betty to his book launch party and when she missed it, Jughead left her a nasty drunken voicemail, letting out his hurt that she cheated, calling her a bitch and threatening to libel her in his book. Betty plays the voicemail for Tabitha and Jess, when the latter brings up her cheating, to show that Jughead isn't innocent - this is how Tabitha learns that Betty cheated on Jughead with Archie.
Betty: Clearly, in the stories Jughead has been telling, he's cast himself as the blameless victim here. But Jughead is not so innocent.
  • Revenge via Storytelling: In the voicemail, Jughead says that his book is a character assassination of Betty and threatens her with its release defaming her.
  • Spit Take: Cheryl nearly chokes on her tea when Penelope states she started a ministry in prison.
  • Work Off the Debt: It turns out this is why Reggie went to work for Hiram, to pay off money loaned to his father.
