Percival tortures the gang by giving them Alice, Tom, and Frank’s bodies, only for Betty to discover their heads are missing, then mind controlling Reggie, Jason, Glen’s corpse, and Abuelita to try and respectively kill Archie, Cheryl, Veronica, and Betty, but is unsuccesful. Toni, Fangs, Moose and Kevin come up with the plan for Tabitha to age Anthony up to take out Percival, given Anthony’s immortality, but Percival escapes. Worried for Jughead, Tabitha tries to get him to leave town, but Jughead says he came back to fight. Jughead mentions his Rivervale counterparts, which gives Tabitha the idea to expand their odds by investigating possible Rivervale outcomes.

Archie, Betty, Reggie, Cheryl, and Veronica fight Percival in front of Pop’s, but he defeats them with his magic. Percival enters Jughead’s mind and Jughead informs him that this was the plan as Percival went through a portal to Rivervale and left his body vulnerable to attack. Tabitha brings Percival back to 1580, where the devil awaits and brings Percival to hell, though not before Percival mutters an incantation, sending Bailey’s Comet straight for Riverdale, leaving them less than 24 hours to live. Tabitha realises that this is the extinction event she saw in the future.

Tropes

  • Brainwashed and Crazy: In an attempt to to kill the heroes, Percival uses a spell to control Reggie, Jason, Veronica’s grandmother and a zombified Glen mad send them after Archie, Cheryl, Veronica and Betty.
  • Came Back Wrong: Subverted. Cheryl thinks this happened to Jason when he attacks her and, horrified, she burns him alive. She later learns that Percival possessed Jason to hunt her and it had nothing to do with his resurrection.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Veronica coated the outside doorknob of her apartment with some of his toxins to paralyze anyone who tried to attack her.
  • Don't Celebrate Just Yet: The gang thinks the day is saved with Percival gone and their loved ones back... then learn that rather than safely passing over, the comet is going to hit the town dead center.
  • Easily Forgiven: Frank, Tom and once again Alice are welcomed back despite everything they did over the season. While they were mostly brainwashed, some of their actions were shown to be of their own free will.
  • I Kiss Your Hand: Jughead and Tabitha.
  • If I Can't Have You…: When he’s beaten, Percival uses a spell to redirect the comet to destroy Riverdale if he can’t take it over.
  • Kill It with Fire: Cheryl kills Jason by burning him to death.
  • Loophole Abuse: Percival thinks that because he's back in time before the Deal with the Devil, it can't count only for Cypher to grin that his contracts are still valid in any time period or reality and thus can claim Percival's life and soul.
  • Love Confession: Jughead tells Tabitha he loves her and she reciprocates.
  • Out-Gambitted: Percival appears to have defeated the gang as he enters Pops...unaware that he stepped into the portal to Rivervale and Tabitha is able to send him back in time to 1580, before Percival made the deal but now mortal so Cypher can claim him at last.
  • Out-of-Character Moment: Cheryl learns that she killed Jason for nothing and has little to no reaction to it.
  • Plot-Relevant Age-Up: Tabitha uses her powers to age up Anthony to an adult when it’s revealed that he can try to kill Percival.
  • Status Quo Is God: Alice, Frank and Tom are all brought back at the end. Cheryl also kills Jason when he tries to attack her. Averted for Polly, who stays alive and Anthony who’s still an adult.
  • Twirl of Love: Jughead hugs and twirls Tabitha after they win.
  • Wham Line: Jughead revealing how Percival fell into his trap.
Jughead: These are different friends. And you're not in Riverdale anymore, Percy.
