Charles and his siblings.
Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead are abducted by Penelope Blossom, who is revealed to have orchestrated the G&G mess since her high school days. Chic is revealed to have served her as the Gargoyle King. She puts the four teens as marks to be chased through the Blossom grounds, which they survive as the Poisons led by Toni and Cheryl come to their aid. Alice was working undercover for the FBI with her long lost son, Charles, who is revealed to be alive, in order to take down Edgar.

Tropes

  • Boom, Headshot!: Penelope ends up shooting Hal Cooper, the Black Hood, in the head.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Subverted as it turns out Alice was never part of Edgar's cult but was secretly spying on them for FBI agent Charles.
    • Sadly played straight with Kevin as he refuses to accept this was all a scam and still believes he was left behind as the rest of the group "ascended."
  • The Cavalry: Just as the main four are about to overcome by the Gargoyle King's fanatics, Cheryl and Toni show up to lead the Serpents and the Poisons to rescue them and drive the King's minions off.
  • Cassandra Truth: In Dramatic Irony, Cheryl now finds herself trying to warn Kevin and Fangs about The Farm using them for organs but isn't believed, just as she didn't believe Betty's warnings before.
  • Cliffhanger: Even more so than the first season finale.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Veronica's reaction to Chic revealing he's alive and the Gargoyle King? "Since when does Chic have red hair?"
  • Enemy Mine: The Poisons and Serpents put their differences aside to stop the Gargoyle King and save the main gang.
  • Group Hug: Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead.
  • The Mole: It turned out that Alice was actually undercover for the FBI when she joined the Farm.
  • Never Mess with Granny: After a long absence, Nana returns to help Toni get to Cheryl and tells the assembled Poisons and Serpents of Penelope's twisted game, to rescue the others.
  • Poison and Cure Gambit: The group are pushed to drink cups with one containing poison. Jughead figures that they're all okay and this is a game... at which point Penelope reveals that they're all poisoned and it's slow acting and only by going through the game can the group hope to earn the antidote. They quickly figure out the point is to just weaken them so they can't survive the game at all.
  • Pulling the Thread: Penelope has Jughead try to put the pieces together, look past the red herring that 'Jason is alive' and finally figures out that Chic is the Gargoyle King, before he unmasks.
  • Sudden Downer Ending: Just as the episode is ending with the core four having a good time at Pop's, we suddenly cut forward in time to a very grim sight.
  • The Reveal: Chic is the Gargoyle King. Hal didn’t kill him, instead he saw a kinship and mentored him. And Penelope Blossom is the mastermind behind the Black Hood and the Gargoyle King. It is also revealed that Betty’s and Jughead‘s brother Charles is alive, and an FBI Agent who has been tasked with taking down Edgar Evernever.
  • Sarcasm Failure: Jughead tries to get through to Chic (or, at the very least, distract him or psych him out) during their fight by asking him why he's going along with all this, only for Chic to respond sincerely with something so insane that Jug, normally never at a loss for words, can't even properly respond.
Jughead: Why are you doing this? Why be the Gargoyle King?
Chic: Who doesn't wanna be king? Who doesn't want blood sacrifices made in their name?
    Jughead: (Bemused) Wow... okay.
  • Wham Line: Agent Smith introduces himself.
    Smith: I'm Charles. Your brother.
  • Wham Shot: The episode ends with Archie, Betty and Veronica, all covered in blood and Jughead nowhere to be seen, with them saying, "Let Us Never Speak of This Again."
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Betty's reaction to Alice being an FBI informant and her brother being very much alive and her supervising agent? A disbelieving loud laugh.
