Toni: There's no way we can compete against a casino with a budget of a Baz Luhrmann film. Look, we're two Davids versus a Babylonian-sized Goliath.
Tabitha: Veronica's clearly prioritized profit over friendship. So, I say we do the same and team up. Fight fire with fire.
Archie, Betty, and Jughead try to wrest the townsfolk from Pickens's spell, while Pickens attempts to make Toni, Tabitha, and Veronica turn on each other to split the gang apart.
Tropes
- Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: It looks like Pickens is going to succeed turning Veronica against Tabitha and Toni...until he suggest she firebomb their club. Realizing that's insane, Veronica agrees to a partnership that leaves all three not only more successful but friends again.
- Poor Communication Kills: Pickens weaponizes this against Veronica, twice. First, he takes advantage of the fact that Reggie didn't tell her about his father and leads her to learn of his deal with her rivals, breaking them up as a result.
- Meanwhile, he manipulates Toni and Tabitha into seeing Veronica selling diner food at her casino, getting the two to start selling liquor and sexy dancing at their businesses as well, as opposed to talking to her. If it weren't for his screwup with Veronica, this would have continued.
- Positive Friend Influence: Jughead positions Archie to be this for the entire town.
- The Reveal: Cheryl has pyrokinesis.
- Stepford Smiler: Several of the adults have these, even when Pickens wants to bring back a statue of the general they all hated.
- Underestimating Badassery: In their boxing match, Archie is sure he can resist Pickens's mind control. Too late, he realizes Pickens brought some palladium to weaken him and take him down.
- Before that, Pickens learns of Archie's powers the hard way when his invulnerability prevents him from slitting his wrists as Pickens asks him to. Also, Archie uses the memory of his father to block out Pickens's powers.
- What the Hell, Hero?:
- Toni and Tabitha are disappointed to learn that Veronica has been copying their businesses this whole time in order to make her own casino (which, in contrast to Toni and Tabitha's roles in the community, and Pop’s, is only for her benefit as the town doesn’t want or need it) successful.
- Veronica loses it on Reggie when she learns that he made deals with her rivals behind her back.
- Meanwhile, both Fangs and Pop Tate call out Toni and Tabitha over how they are changing their businesses from what they are supposed to be. Fangs also points out that they are in the middle of a custody battle with Kevin, so Toni shouldn't be having sexy dances at her club at the moment.
