2x 01 Damned If You Do
  • Jerome starts hitting on Barbara and asks her what she's in Arkham for. "Killing my parents." "Me too!" While it's true, the way Jerome says it sounds like a guy lying to try and get a girl to talk to him.
  • Sionis is in the middle of a story when Zaardon makes his Incoming Ham entrance, and barely spares him a glance before continuing.
    • Just how blase everyone is about him. When Gordon's booking him:
Zaardon: Zaardon will unleash hell upon you all!
Gordon: [bored as he writes him up] Zaardon. That spelled how it sounds?
      Zaardon: [calmly] Two As.
    • He pronounces Gordon's name as "Gor-don."
  • Zsasz and Oswald visit Loeb in his house to strongarm him into reinstating Gordon. Loeb tries to shout for his guards, only for Zsasz to pick up the severed head of one of said guards:
Zsasz: [manipulates the mouth like a puppet] "Hi boss, how about..a bottle of beer?"
    • The hilarious contrast of Oswald casually threatening the man while making himself a peanut butter sandwich. Using Loeb's peanut butter. Smooth, for preference.
    • Zsasz repeatedly interrupts Oswald to ask if he can just kill Loeb now, sounding like a kid asking if school's over yet.
Zsasz: Do I kill him now?
Penguin: No, make him a nice cheese toast. Yes, kill him now please!
    • Zsasz and Penguin's entire schtick as they're intimidating Loeb. These Bantering Baddie Buddies have their psychotic routine practically down to a science!
  • And the payoff: a Gilligan Cut to a choir beautifully singing 'goodbye' to Loeb, while Loeb is sitting there with a shell-shocked expression.
  • Bruce's emotional reading of his father's letter is interrupted by his father's pride at his figuring out the code to the secret room was his own name, when Bruce actually resorted to blowing the door up. The sheepish look Alfred gives when Bruce reads that line sells it.
  • This gem during the confrontation between Edward and his reflection.
    Edward: Stop doing that!
    Edward's Reflection: What?
    Edward: That! Copying me!
Edward's Reflection: Dude, it's a mirror. That's how they work.
  • In Arkham, Barbara is wearing a black and white striped prison skirt.

     2x 02 Knock, Knock
  • While the editor of the Gotham Gazette is ranting about wanting real news on the front page, three bodies are falling to their death by the window right behind him. One of them does the Wilhelm scream as he falls (in case that scream didn't sound familiar to you, there are six takes of the scream; this one, while one of the more common, isn't quite as well-known as the fourth take).
  • Theo tries to get Aaron to try out the lines he's running with the Maniax, who's eating away. He decides to not bother with him.
  • Samurai sword vs chainsaw. Too bad that little bickerfest was cut short.
  • Galavan recoiling out of the way when Jerome takes his turn in the Russian Roulette so that he doesn't also get hit by the bullet.
  • Tabitha and Barbara amusing themselves by whipping the mayor, who's currently blinded by a box locked around his head. He almost knocks himself out walking into a wall, and then Tabitha whips him a final time to make sure he isn't dead.
  • Alfred's obvious happiness over being reunited with Bruce after their mutual Jerkass Realization has a bucket of cold water thrown on it when Bruce informs Alfred he has to repair the computer.
Alfred: Fix it? How on Earth am I going to do that?
Bruce: That's not my problem. I'm not the one who broke it.
  • Alfred's story about trust told to Lucius Fox gets derailed when Lucius asks what a "kipper" is.
  • This, from the opening:
Arnold: What should we do with the, uh, spare?
Jerome ponders the bodies for a moment with a hilariously thoughtful expression, then has a lightbulb moment.
Jerome: Ooh! I know! [spray-paints an exclamation mark on the hostage] Aaron, would you kindly? [genial smile]
Aaron tosses the final hostage over the side; the bodies now read 'MANIAX!'
  • This gem: the Maniax have doused the bus full of cheerleaders with gasoline, and Jerome is igniting the lighter... only it doesn't work. So he...climbs back on board the bus full of terrified hostages: "Hey, anyone got a lighter?"
  • When Gordon is fighting Aaron in the alley, he tries to hit him with a pipe. Aaron pretty much no-sells it - "Ow." - before beating the crap out of Gordon.
  • When Essen spits in Jerome's face, he initially reacts with disgust, then remarks that it was "strangely pleasant" and tells her to do it again.

     2x 03 The Last Laugh
  • When Jim and Lee share a passionate kiss, in comes Harvey Bullock...
Harvey: Not to interrupt your weirdly-timed make out session, but...
  • After Jerome attacks Jim in the hallway, Jim begins to strangle Jerome, who gasps out, "I'm sensing anger".
  • An oblivious Alfred spending the fundraiser hitting on Lee, and after he finally sees her kissing Gordon, Bruce insists he didn't know.
    • Jim's utter WTH? face when he starts to realize what's going on, and Bruce's obvious exasperation during Alfred and Lee's polite, yet somewhat clumsy dialogue. Bonus points when you realize that this is basically Bruce meeting Selina all over again, but with Bruce and Alfred's roles completely reversed.
  • Everyone mentioning "there's a magician" for the fundraiser, as if it's a highlight. It was... but not for the reason they expected. So much so that Alfred later says he always has hated magicians.
  • Oswald's frustration with the Maniax taking all the city's attention, and pondering putting on a crazy laugh himself.
  • Jerome covering his eyes before shooting the hostage with the water gun: "Someone tell me if it turns out alright!" Then shooting the apple off the hostage's head with a real gun and demanding applause.
  • After Jerome calls Gordon:
Jerome: [laughs maniacally into the phone for a few seconds, then hangs up] I think that went well.
  • When Theo tells Jerome (as part of his heroic facade) that he still believes there’s a bit of humanity left in him, Jerome points at himself as if to say, “Who, me? I don’t think you mean me.”

     2x 04 Strike Force
  • Penguin rebuffs the Galavans' request for his services:
Penguin: You need an assassin. This is Gotham, you can find them in the phone book. Under 'A'." [saucy wink]
  • When Barnes want to talk with Gordon out of office, he calls at Lee's house. Why?
"Everyone knows you're banging the M.E."
  • Butch tells two campaign workers that he has no idea why the Penguin is assassinating one of the mayoral candidates in her office. He later tells them to think of their loved ones in a nice manner.
    • And a bit of Black Comedy: just as Butch leaves the office, the last of a run of campaign signs for the candidate finishes on the printer.
  • Alfred dropping on Bruce the first part of his training: coming back from school to Wayne Manor on his own. Six and a half miles.
Bruce: "Wait, you... you expect me to-to walk?"
Alfred: "No, master Bruce. I expect you to run."
[Alfred jumps in the car and leaves a bemused Bruce with a tracksuit and running shoes in his hands]
  • Edward practicing his attempt at asking Ms. Kringle on a date. His partner? A skeleton that appears to be wearing sunglasses.
Ed: (practicing) Ms. Kringle, I'm sure you've noticed my affections from afar. (beat) "Afar?" Seriously?
  • Yes, it takes place before a whole lot of violence, but Zsasz modeling an election pin makes for a pretty funny sight.

     2x 05 Scarification
  • Barnes' reaction when he his raiding party is attacked with a rocket launcher and Harvey's deadpan commentary on it.
    Barnes: A damn rocket launcher?
    Harvey: Welcome to Gotham.
  • The goons doing the money counting are in their underwear. After they're arrested, Garrett tells Barnes that they're asking for their pants back. Barnes wryly notes that the Miranda Rights don't mention anything about pants. Then he thinks a moment and says whoever can tell him where the hell they got the rocket launcher gets his pants back. A moment later, after Gordon and Bullock tell him about The Merc...
Barnes: Belay that order. Nobody's getting pants.
  • "The Merc", a business that is basically a CostCo for criminals where you can find anything from explosives to rocket launchers to acid. Only in Gotham.
    • With a loudspeaker offering freaking two-for-one deals, no less!
  • A great piece of Black Comedy, right after Joe Pike blows up into a million pieces when Gordon's bullet hits the brick of C4 in his pants Barnes gives Jim's gun the weirdest look:
Barnes: What the hell are you packing?
  • Another piece of Black Comedy — when one of Penguin's Mooks informs him that the cops have shut down his counting house, Butch gets an Oh, Crap! look on his face and dodges out of the way, right before Penguin goes to town on the poor guy with a fire poker. And then has an "Eureka!" Moment, running off shouting to Butch that he knows how to deal with Theo.
  • Nygma approaches Leslie and Gordon about doing a double-date with him and Ms. Kringle. They simultaneously say yes and no, respectively, and Leslie invites them to fondue at her place. Gordon seems more worried about the prospect of the awkward evening than, say, the mob bosses and armed weirdos he faces every day.
Gordon: It's our place, we can't leave. We'll be trapped.

     2x 06 By Fire
  • Galavan's response to Butch's story.
Butch: There was a lot of blood. A lot. And he tried to take another swing and he slipped and fell, and so I just ran. I ran and I ran and then the next thing I knew, I woke up in the hospital.
    Galavan: Huh.
  • Tabitha and Barbara brainstorm attachments to put on the end of Butch's stump, like a mini-chainsaw. They settle on a mallet-hand. When he reports back to Penguin, Cobblepot starts to ask about it and Butch just exasperatedly declares he doesn't want to go into it.
  • Alfred distracting Bruce by bringing up a dinner date with Silver before landing a sucker punch on him.
    Alfred: Not ready.
  • Harvey appealing to the fact that they're both gingers when questioning Ivy.
  • The way Galavan calls for Tabitha after figuring out Butch and Penguin's ruse. It's like someone calling for their pet cat.
  • For some nice Black Comedy, there's a very tense scene when the detectives are investigating Bridgit Pike's appartment after she burns her abusive brothers alive. Gordon and Bullock are sneaking through the creepy abandoned appartment, with the lack of any people there making it massively suspenseful and creepy, up until they discover the scorched bodies of Bridgit's brothers lying on the floor. Bullock steps closer, and the nearest one suddenly grabs his leg. How does Bullock respond to this? He completely freaks out and starts kicking the man until he dies.
Gordon: And now he's dead. Nice work, Bullock.
Bullock: Oh yeah, my kicks that did it? Maybe it's because he's fried like a taquito!
  • Gordon comes back to find Lee being held at gunpoint by Selina, which they proceed to treat pretty much like a pushy workplace colleague dropping by. There are also milk and cookies on the table, implying that at some point in the preceding sequence of events Lee made her a snack. One wonders if this was before or after the shotgun came out, either seems possible.
    Gordon: Sorry about this, Lee.
    Lee: Oh, hey, no problem.
  • A guy getting interrogated by Gordon says that female firebugs are "mad rare...like a unicorn or somethin'!"
  • Crosses over into Heartwarming: when Bridget asks Selina why she's helping her, Selina responds, "Maybe because you remind me of me... if I was a doofus." Both their smiles are what sell it.

     2x 07 Mommy's Little Monster
  • This exchange:
Bullock: I say we wait and see if someone can walk us inside. Try and keep things civil. (notices Gordon not paying attention) Did I tell you I was thinking about getting a cat?
    Gordon: ... What?
Bullock: Hey! How are you? Why don't you get your head in the game here?
  • When Gordon and Bullock get into a fire fight with Zsasz and his Mooks after the latter demands that they leave, they manage to retaliate with machine guns. Zsasz's response is just priceless.
Zsasz: ... I'll take that as a "no"!

     2x 08 Tonight's the Night
  • Barbara's nightmare at the start turns into this when a bird flies out of her mouth. At least that's what everyone in the nightmare thinks 'cause they all erupt into laughter at Barbara's humiliation, including Lee, who's suddenly there as Jim's bride in Barbara's place. And then everyone pulls out their guns and aim at Barbara...
    • Just the fact that someone decided that Penguin should have a pencil moustache, making him look like John Waters.
  • Barbara's evil scheme this episode is to force Jim to marry her. She ties him up in a cathedral, bounds and gags a priest and some other random people as guests and enters carrying a shotgun and humming the bridal chorus. Granted, it starts getting a lot less adorable when she threatens to slice Lee's face off.
  • Nygma's cheerful nonchalance at disposing of the hunter who stumbled across his burial of Miss Kringle.
If I can't make the hole bigger, then I'll make you smaller.
    • Then he discovers that someone stole his lunch while he was disposing of the hunter and notes that for the middle of nowhere, this spot of forest seems to see a remarkable amount of foot traffic.
  • Lee's bright idea to stop Barbara's attack: ask about Barbara's wedding dress. The best part: it works.

     2x 09 A Bitter Pill to Swallow
  • Early in the episode, Bruce is talking with Silver at his home and is trying to con the name of the Wayne Killer out of her, and then:
Alfred: "Right, Master Bruce! On your feet."
*Alfred enters wearing an apron and with two rakes in his hands*
Alfred: "Bought a lovely couple of rakes from the ironmonger's. I suggest we get outside and get-"
[Alfred notices Silver, stops for a moment, and hounds her out.]
  • As the first assassin is trying to garrote Jim in the elevator, the door calmly opens, then closes, as their fight continues.
  • Penguin putting up with Edward.
Penguin: If you're planning on killing me, can you get on with it? At this point, it would come as a welcome relief.
  • Bit of a Black Comedy, but when Penguin asks Edward how many people he has killed, Edward answers three in total. Penguin scoffs and rolls his eyes looking unimpressed. Like he's thinking "Oh great. An amateur."
  • Edward and Penguin singing with each other over Chinese food. Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like.

2x 10 The Son Of Gotham
  • Nygma and Penguin's Odd Couple relationship. In particular, Oswald calling Ed asking for where he put the spicy mustard.
  • Bruce's heartwarming reveal that the sweet talking words he used on Silver were actually about Selina is followed up with Selina being struck speechless, until she hits the escape button on the conversation by letting him know she'll be stealing one of his cars to get back to town.
  • Bullock throws a villainous monk into and through a pillar while underground. Bricks start falling from the ceiling and realizes what he's just done. He looks at the ceiling and starts begging it to stay up.

     2x 11 Worse Than A Crime
  • When Gordon regains consciousness from last week's hijinks, he finds himself in Nygma's apartment. With Nygma and Penguin playing piano, singing a duet, and generally looking like the odd couple fans have begun to love (Nygmobblepot indeed!). Their smiles once he's awake are what especially sells it.
Gordon: (utterly confused) What the hell...?
  • Nygma discreetly informs Lee about Jim's whereabouts. Of course, being the future Riddler, he does so with a rhyme ("Is your lover man alive? Go to Grundy 805"). Lee merely responds with a Flat "What" expression on her face.
  • When Leslie finds them, she reams Gordon out for what he's about to do, saying he's crazy for allying with a "depraved sociopath" like the Penguin. Who is standing six feet away, and protests that he can hear her. Leslie just snaps at him and tells him to shush as if he was a naughty child.
  • Alfred getting tazed in the face by a couple of overzealous cops. Doubly so since this is one of the very few times in the show where a crime goes down and the GCPD is actually on the ball for a change. Naturally, it's for a minor crime committed by a good guy...
  • Bruce snaps out of his Heroic BSoD when Silver claims that dolphins can read minds, and he feels a serious need to protest this and lay down the actual scientific facts about dolphins.
  • Penguin's face when Lee reveals she's pregnant.
  • Selina showing up to help, Fox asking who she is and Bullock responding "Fox, Cat. Cat, Fox."
  • Alfred and Selina's bickering throughout the rescue mission:
Alfred: "How do we know that you're not working with Galavan now?"
Selina: "How do I know you're not a Martian in a rubber suit?"
    • Later:
Alfred: "I do believe, Master Bruce, that this falls very firmly into the category of "I Told You So"."
Selina: "I told him so too, Alfred."
  • Nygma suffering his first compulsion for riddles when asked where Penguin is.
Fox: "Home. So, he's at your home?"
Nygma: "No. Yes. (Beat) Who are you?"
  • Bullock struggling to climb the stairs to get to the big fight that's been brewing for half a season. He misses the fight entirely — only showing up to finish off the last of the villains. Everyone looks at him as he huffs and puffs and just says, "There were a lot of stairs."
    • The fight itself. Around 20-30 cultists wielding nothing but knives charge at Gordon, Alfred, Penguin, Selina, and a dozen or so of Penguin's goons. Who all happen to have high powered firearms on their side. It ends about as quickly as you'd expect.
  • Bruce claiming that he had things well in hand and was getting ready to escape. The look Selina and Alfred give each other in response to that is priceless.
  • Tabitha stands up for Silver when Theo expresses his intent to leave her behind. And then she shoves her backward out of a skyscraper penthouse. (Silver was wearing a parachute, but still, "tough love" is kind of an understatement in this situation.)
  • The coroners unbagging Theo's corpse... and revealing an umbrella shoved all the way down his throat. Black Comedy 101, folks.

     2x 12 Mr. Freeze
  • When Gordon asks where you would get supercoolant liquid helium, Edward seriously asks "why do you need it?"
  • After Victor freezes a pharmacist in front of a store full of people, it's darkly funny that he gets them to help him load the frozen man into his van as if he was an appliance he'd just bought.
  • Bullock's insistence on being proven right about the correct pronunciation of the surname Fries.
  • Victor goes to the police to give himself up, and asks to speak with Gordon... only to not be believed, as he's the fifth that night that came to confess. Quite funny... At least until he sees that his latest test subject survived and he runs.
    • When musing on how many people came to confess, Alvarez mused "Must be a full moon". Turns out, it's actually a full moon.
  • Nygma walks out to his lab to make himself a coffee, only to find the corpse has vanished in the interval. His only reaction is a flat "Huh."

2x 13 A Dead Man Feels No Cold
  • Bullock complains that he might freeze to death while waiting for Mr. Freeze to show up. He immediately realizes how ironic that would be.
  • Freeze's Dynamic Entry into Arkham Asylum is met with a bewildered stare by one of the inmates. To top it off, Mr. Freeze pulls back the visor on his spacesuit/icesuit thing and smiles, like an explorer who landed on the Moon.

2x 14 This Ball of Mud and Meanness
  • Jeri, the contact Bruce goes to see to learn the whereabouts of Malone. She strikes the right balance of creepy and funny, culminating in using a mosh-pit to subdue Jim Gordon. Plus, with her clown make-up, general attitude and Joisey Accent, she reminds more than a few fans of Harley Quinn, if she aged a few decades.
    • Special mention goes to her using a mosh pit of all things to delay Gordon long enough for Bruce to escape.
    • And then followed up by her conversation with Gordon in the interrogation room. Her bored responses and successful efforts to rile him up were made even more hilarious by Gordon's growing anger.
  • Bullock's exasperation at Alfred admitting, to a pair of cops, that he was planning on killing Malone.

     2x 15 Mad Grey Dawn

     2x 16 Prisoners
  • The guard who helps Gordon escape asks Gordon to hit him so it'll look like he tried to stop him, but adds a request to avoid hitting him in the mouth because he just had his teeth fixed.
  • After Oswald rebuffs Elijah's stepdaughter's advances, his stepson matter-of-factly asks if she wants him to give it a try. Not to mention the way Oswald slides out from under her.
    Oswald: "Control yourself, woman!"
  • The stepson suggesting glue traps when they discuss dealing with Oswald the same way as they do rats.
  • Falcone pointing out that Bullock is committing a faux pas in his presence.
Falcone: You know, Harvey, it's very rude to wear a hat indoors.

     2x 17 Into the Woods
  • Harvey "using his connections into IA" to help Gordon get the tape that could point him to who framed him.
  • "I saved enough for burgers."
  • To get Ed to move Kristen's body, Gordon needs someone who could pretend to turn on him and not look suspicious. Cue everyone looking at Selina...
  • As the GCPD is preparing to arrest Ed, he bolts... and after 5 seconds he trips and falls face first into the snow.

     2x 18 Pinewood
  • After Barbara's rather dramatic reunion with Jim, Harvey casually comes in carrying pizza and beer. The Oh, Crap! expression on his face upon seeing Barbara is just priceless.
    • Even more hilarious is Harvey's reaction immediately after Barbara leaves. He comically crushes the pizza box he's holding repeatedly while yelling for Gordon and trying frantically and fruitlessly to break down Gordon's door.
  • Just the sheer fact that Harvey has a "whammy drawer" filled with all sorts of crazy melee weapons, including, of all things, a pair of nunchucks. Upon finding them, Jim just looks at Harvey as if to say, "Really?"
    • And Harvey' response. "Oooh, good choice!"
    • After Jim leaves, Harvey comments that it's going to be a bad day for Gotham's hitmen.
      • And, as the ensuing montage proves, he's right.
  • Barbara's plan to get information out of the Lady didn't impress Jim.
Barbara: I needed the Lady to trust me. It's called a plan.
Gordon: A plan? What if I'd stayed outside?
    Barbara: (grinning) Really?
Gordon: (annoyed expression conceding the point)
  • As awesome as Gordon's plan turns out to be, there's something hilarious about him asking Bruce Wayne how much money he can put together in a hurry.
  • Butch's nonplussed reaction to Tabitha kissing a sleeping Barbara. "Huh."

     2x 19 Azrael
  • Edward convincing everyone in his cell that he's conversing with a ghost named Lucy. It's just two whole minutes of pure Nygma hamminess.
  • Hugo Strange decides to put Galavan's skills to the test. Providing him with a metal chest, he orders Galavan to kill Helzinger using whatever weapon it encases. He then proceeds to knock Helzinger out with the chest. Strange ends up slack-jawed with surprise.
Hugo Strange: ...Not exactly what I had in mind, but good enough. Try opening the chest, my son.
  • When Edward enlists his fellow Arkham inmates to fetch him things that'll help him find Hugo Strange's secrets, one of them gets him a fly swatter, even though he specifically asked for a bug zapper.
    Edward: What is this?
    Norton: It's a fly swatter!
Edward: I can see that it's a fly swatter. I didn't ask for a fly swatter, I asked for the bug zapper in the kitchen.
    Norton: What's the difference?
Edward: The difference is that one has a black light that emits ultraviolet energy, and this is leather on a stick!
Norton (defensive): They both kill flies! (reaches for another inmate's neck, gets swatted)
  • Strange's supremely irritated "What is it?" when a phone call pulls him away from Galavan.
  • Peabody is in full Servile Snarker mode in this episode. Her "You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!" expression when Strange starts on his Saint Dumas shtick must be seen to be believed.
    • Her unhelpful aside when Strange presents Galavan with what he claims is an Ancestral Weapon passed down for generations.
Peabody: Generations? That sword was made yesterday.
    Strange: It doesn't matter.
  • Barbara takes a break from her channel-hopping to make cocktails for Butch and Tabitha, shooting down Butch's suggest of bourbon on the rocks for gimlets.
    • Barbara's slide back into insanity is played for laughs, due to Butch and Tabitha's reactions to it.
Barbara appears above Butch and Tabitha wielding a cleaver with a crazed look
Barbara: Do we have any limes?
cut to Butch, looking scared, and Tabitha, who doesn't react

     2x 20 Unleashed
  • Selina and Nygma's banter while in the vents of Arkham.
    • They immediately recognize each other, but don't remember each other's names:
      Selina: Forensics guy!
      Nygma: Street trash girl!
    • When Nygma asks Selina if she knows how to pick a lock, she gives him a look that says "Have you met me?"
  • Butch's frustration when Gordon and Bullock just walk right into his headquarters:
  • Penguin's Moment Killer entrance during Butch's tearful confession to the unconscious Tabitha.
  • Penguin's hilariously casual dismissal of Azrael:
The Penguin: I, for one, do not buy this whole "Uber-Villain" nonsense. If he wants to wear leather, he should just wear leather! This is Gotham City, nobody cares, right?!
  • Combined with Awesome Moments, the part where Penguin just casually strolls through the gates of Wayne Manor after Jim, Alfred and Bruce have all just finished trying to kill Azrael, and failed. His threat to Galavan with his umbrella just seals the deal.
The Penguin: My last one got stuck in your throat, so I'm thinking about shoving this one somewhere else.
  • The assorted reactions when Butch hauls out a rocket launcher to deal with Azrael/Galavan, made doubly so by the hilariously over the top rock music accompanying the scene.
    Azrael/Galavan: Ohhh...
Gordon, Alfred and Bruce—who are standing behind Galavan—take one look and dive for cover.
    • Penguin then says "You're welcome!" before leaving with Butch, who casually waves goodbye to them.
    Butch: Goodnight fellas!
    • Alfred waving back after Penguin and Butch as they walk off.
      • Just where did Penguin get the rocket launcher from? Either he's been hiding that thing for a long time, or he actually convinced someone to sell him/steal him a rocket launcher.
  • Nygma spends the entire episode crawling through Arkham's air vents in order to escape. At the end, he finally makes it outside... and is then apprehended by the cops just moments later.

     2x 21 A Legion of Horribles
  • Bullock's press conference. Just...Bullock's press conference.
Reporter: Can you confirm that the man known as Azrael was, in fact, disgraced Mayor Galavan?
Bullock: Well, seeing as how the suspect is now meat dust, a positive identification would be difficult.
Reporter: How long do you plan to serve as Acting Captain?
Bullock: Until literally the second someone else wants the job.
    Reporter: Who killed Theo Galavan?
    Bullock: Which time?
    • And when he explains that the killer calling himself "Azrael" was "blown up," by unknown assailants, it cuts to one of the reporters who looks up from his notebook with a look that says, "Seriously?"
  • When Lucius and Bruce are being held prisoner by Nygma at Strange's request, Lucius remembers him as the forensic scientist with the funny name. Ed is clearly less than pleased at the description.
  • When Fish Mooney tries to get a guard's attention she inadvertently demands him to make a grilled cheese sandwich. The whole sequence is... interesting to say the least.
Mooney: Why did you make me a sandwich?
    Guard: I... don't know.
  • After Strange completes Clayface's transformation into Gordon, a shocked Gordon shouts in his direction, "You son of a bitch!" Clayface's response is a more positive-sounding and rather jovial "Son of a bitch! Nice to meet you."

     2x 22 Transference
  • In a Black Comedy sort of way, there's Penguin putting his dead stepmother's head on display, with Barbara giving him advice on how to do so like it's a work of art, while a creeped out Butch watches.
Penguin: What do you think, Butch?
Butch: ...Interior design's not really my thing.
  • Clayface pretending to be Gordon for a good chunk of the episode is quite an amusing sight, from his cheesy smile to his gruff voice and snarky personality. And no one realizes he isn't really Gordon until Barbara points it out.
    • Seeing the usually strait-laced dead serious Jim Gordon played as a jolly flippant pervert. McKenzie must have had a blast in this episode.
    • Clayface!Jim noisily sipping on a milkshake and eating chips.
  • Fish getting a Your Mom joke in at Peabody's expense.
    • Later, when Strange is trying to win her over, she tells him that he'd "have made a good pimp".
  • Lucius and Bruce get gassed and pass out. When they wake up, they're in a room with the similarly drugged Gordon, none too sure if they're alive. Lucius complains, "wow, that was unpleasant!" and the three sort of bumble about and try to pull themselves together. Gordon offers a heartfelt apology for making his vow to Bruce, which leads to Lucius saying this gem: "Uhh... what kind of drugs did they give you?!"
  • When coercing Nygma to help Gordon and Lucius find the bomb Nygma playfully asks what he gets if he does help.
    Gordon: You get to live.
    Nygma: [Beat] Fair enough.
  • Gordon and Lucius shorting out the bomb at the absolute last second with a cup of water,]] as per Peabody's instructions. Then it turns out she was asking for a drink of water. Cue two hilarious "Holy Crap, we almost died because of a hunch!" looks on the men's faces.
