Go To

Archivist Angels is a Massive Multiplayer Crossover fanfic written by Rekko.

When Philip is killed by Luz and her allies, he is sent to the afterlife to face judgment from the Archangels. He thinks the heavens will be in his good graces, only for him to discover that the Archangels of heaven and the Archivists are one and the same, and they are not happy about him almost killing their sibling.

Luz Noceda has defeated Belos and saved the isles, but that doesn't mean enemies aren't lurking in the shadows. Odalia has taken over the night market, the Archivists plan to kidnap King, and depression remains the greatest foe.

The Calamity Trio receive a call from Mr. X and the Pines twins about a message from The Calamity Guardian/God to stop their children the Archivists and save the realms.

Molly McGee meets a flower loving; Cosmic Frontier obsessed ghost with amnesia, and she makes it her mission to help him regain his memories. When a spirit claiming to be the Holy Ghost arrives in Brighton, they seek vengeance upon Molly for killing their son the Chairman; the Archivist Azrael.

The universe has many heroes in the likes of the Hexsquad, the Mystery Twins, and the Calamity Trio, but I.M.P have been sent to assassinate them by the most high profile client in their careers, Lucifer. Meanwhile, Charlie tries her best to reform Philip by showing him the error of his ways.

This fanfic provides examples of:

  • Adaptation Species Change: The Collector, along with his entire race the Archivists, are all revealed to be angels. While the Collector's race was never given a identity in the show itself, they were hinted at being aliens or god-like beings.
  • Adaptational Gender Identity: In here Archangel Gabriel is a Transwoman and Archangel Uriel/Urielle are Genderfluid, with the latter swapping genders to match their current identity.
  • All Myths Are True: Gabriel casually reveals to the recently deceased Phillip that all the other worldly mythologies are not only real, but run Heaven alongside them. The only exceptions being the Norse Pantheon who all perished after Ragnarok.
  • Angel Unaware: During the first chapter, the Collector is revealed to have been none other than Joel, the Archangel of Joy.
  • Backing Away Slowly: Philip does this when he realizes his savior doesn't want to save him, but rather destroy him. He ends up tripping on the hole that is above the Pride Ring and descends into Hell just as Jesus launched a spatial projectile that narrowly misses him.
  • Celestial Paragons and Archangels: Many of the archangels and Heavenly figures appear as important or supporting characters here. Including Archangel Michael, Archangel Gabriel, Archangel Raphael, Archangel Uriel, Archangel Azrael, Archangel Zadikel, Archangel Lucifer and Jesus.
  • Connected All Along: The Collector is revealed to be the Archangel Joel and thus connected to all the angels in heaven including Lucifer Morningstar and his whole family. The Calamity Guardian, the god-like being from the finale of Amphibia is confirmed to have been God and the creator of everything. And Azrael is actually the Chairman from The Ghost and Molly McGee who was destroyed by Molly's happiness.
  • Everyone Has Standards: While the Archivists aren't too fond of the Boiling Isles' residents, they were still utterly horrified and disgusted by Belos' attempted genocide simply because they were different.
  • The Fundamentalist: Out of all the angels, Archangel Raphael the healer, teacher of evolution and the most scientific of the Archangels, is vehemently homophobic and refuses to change his standing on the subject, causing him to frequently clash with his sister Gabriel.
  • Futile Hand Reach: As he falls into Hell, Philip desperately reaches out towards Jesus hoping that the messiah will pull him out before it's too late. No one comes to his aid.
  • Gender Bender: Being a gender fluid angel, Uriel/Urielle can flip between male and female form on a whim, doing so during the middle of Philip's Trial.
  • God Is Displeased: The Rulers of Heaven are disgusted by Philip's actions during his life, including his time as a Witch Hunter and during his reign as Lord Belos. Jesus outright compares him to Hitler to his face, which should show just how little they care for him.
  • Hell of a Heaven: Being mostly based off the Heaven from Hazbin Hotel, there's a fair bit of corruption and unfairness going on. As ever the Exterminations continue to plague Hell's denizens, but it's also revealed that residents from the Boiling Isles are unable to enter Heaven regardless of their morale standing. The only reason Evelyn was allowed, was due to her being married to Caleb, which under the Heavenly law meant the two were technically one.
  • Hope Spot: Philip's first time in the Boiling Isles is treated like this, as Caleb and Evelyn show him around, teach him about the Demon's Realm costumes and get him to play a game of grudgby, he seemingly starts becoming more open to the idea. Unfortunately, his prejudices and beliefs win through, and his disgust at learning that Caleb has gotten Evelyn pregnant cause him to cross the Despair Event Horizon as he kills his brother and starts his journey to becoming the monster we know he'll become.
  • Hypocrite: The Archivists call out Philip for betraying his brother and trying to wipe out an entire race. The only problem is they did those exact crimes by using Joel as The Bait and The Scapegoat for the Titans while they took them by surprise and annihilated them all. And judging by their creed, that was likely not the only time they had to bring forth the extinction of an entire civilization. In fact, it states very clearly they are very much willing to annihilate an entire planet.
  • In the Back: How Caleb Wittebane meets his end, being stabbed in the back by his own brother.
  • Judgement of the Dead: Shortly after his final death, Philip is brought before the court of Heaven to be judged by the Archangels themselves, with his brother Caleb & Evelyn serving as witnesses and Jesus himself giving him his final fate.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: As if his pathetic death at the end of Watching And Dreaming wasn't enough, Belos gets to be put on trial by the Archangels themselves, have his crimes recounted by his murdered brother and sister-in-law and is finally sentenced by Jesus Christ himself, after he compares him to Hitler and threatens to destroy him on the spot, if he doesn't willingly go to Hell.
  • Loophole Abuse: While witches and other residents of the Boiling Isles aren't allowed to ascend into Heaven, Evelyn Clawthorne was a special case, as she was married to Caleb Wittebane a Christian man, which according to tradition made the lovers one in flesh, and thus fated to reunite upon entering the afterlife. As such they were given a choice upon death. They could either be together in Hell, or Evelyn could become one with the Titan while Caleb ascended into Heaven. When both of them refused to be separated, the angels were so moved by their devotion to one another, they allowed them both to ascend into Heaven together.
  • Massive Multiplayer Crossover: This story promises to be an epic cross over between The Owl House, Hazbin Hotel, Gravity Falls, Amphibia, The Ghost and Molly McGee, and Helluva Boss.
  • A Nazi by Any Other Name: When Philip believes the Archivists are just as gullible as their youngest sibling, he says they are unworthy to judge his fate, and that only Jesus Christ is worthy of such an action. However, Micheal responds to this by stating the Messiah was so disgusted with Philip's actions that he compared him to Adolf Hitler, and the mere sight of him would make him want to punish him the same way he punished that Führer.
  • Never My Fault: Even after his death, even after being judged by Heaven's archangels themselves, who all voice disgust and disapproval of his actions, even after Caleb and Evelyn recount what he has done to them and even after Jesus Christ HIMSELF compared him to a dictator and expressed anger and disapproval of his actions, Belos is unable to accept the blame for his actions and even begin to entertain the possibility of being in the wrong, insisting that this is all a test from God to prove his devotion. It's only when he narrowly dodges Jesus's spatial projectile and sees that he refuses to save him that he finally realizes that he has no one left to blame, but himself.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Upon their first meeting Evelyn heals up Philip after he busts up his ribs. Upon seeing that she's a witch, he immediately stabs her with a knife.
  • Phoneaholic Teenager: Archangel Gabriel is portrayed as this; being the messenger of God, she is the head of Heaven's social media and acts and talks like a typical phone obsessed teen.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Philip is given several disgusted roasts and takedowns for his actions against witchkind. Though none of them hitting harder, than the cold, blunt, unforgiving one he is given by Jesus Christ himself:
  • Related in the Adaptation: The Collector, revealed to be the Archangel Joel, is now not only tied in with Lucifer Morningstar the Fallen Angel and father of Charlie Morningstar, but one of the many children of The Guardian of the Cosmos of Amphibia.
  • Sadistic Choice: When Jesus Christ reveals to Philip that he was watching him from behind the entire time, the Witch Hunter believes he is going to give him the choice on how he should be pardoned. However, much to his horror, the Messiah instead reveals he is his executioner and allows him to decide how he should be punished.
Jesus: My son... you have two options... Option one is you jump down that hole and survive the best you can in hell, or by the slimmest of chances allow yourself to be rehabilitated in my niece's hotel. Option two is that by the time my eyes rise and lock with yours, I erase your soul.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: Philip's attempts to justify or example himself in front of the Archangels, are immediately shot down by every one of them, who proceed to thoroughly tear down his beliefs, ideals, and any notion that he was in the right.
  • Speak of the Devil: A hilariously reversed example. As his verdict is read out, Philip refuses to accept his fate, demanding a retrial overseen by Jesus Christ himself. And low and behold, who should then appear but Jesus himself, currently in the midst of reading the last Good Witch Azura book, who shares the Angel's exact sentiments regarding his fate.
  • Stunned Silence: Philip has quite a lot of these reactions, upon his arrival to Heaven, meeting the Archangels and seeing that his beliefs, views and thoughts on his actions do not align at all with what he had imagined.
  • Tears of Blood: Jesus lets out a few upon finishing the last Good Witch Azura, expressing his love of the series and complementing the Nocedas for their tastes in literature.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Philip has this reaction upon learning the Archivists are the Archangels and are likely mad at him because he almost killed their younger sibling. Unfortunately for him, he's right.
  • Totally Radical: Upon her introduction, Zadkiel attempts to sound modern and loose towards Philip, yet ends up talking in very outdated, hipster-like speech, due to a prank from Lucifer.
  • Villainous BSoD: He undergoes one when he realizes that the Messiah he dedicated his entire life to is disgusted by what he had down, refused to give him any sympathy, and threatened to kill him permenetly if he refused to leave Heaven. Needless to say, Philip's entire worldview had been completely shattered.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Evelyn calls out the Archangels for being massive hypocrites allowing her to remain in Heaven, and inviting Lucifer back briefly, but refusing entry to the other witches of the Demon Realm.
