Platoon 113

    Daryl Smithson

Daryl Smithson

A novice Pacificator of Light. There's a lot more to her than meets the eye...

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiDaryl_6997.gif

  • Action Girl: In chapters 39 and 40, Daryl's gotten the chance to show off all the new fighting tricks she learned, and is it ever awesome.
  • Ascended Fangirl: One of the reasons Daryl was so quick to accept Bismun's offer of joining Platoon 113 is because some of her idols were on that team.
Daryl: I was very eager to start my first mission with my idols and making friends with them...
  • Berserk Button: Donā€™t call her fat.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Sheā€™s the sweetest girl youā€™ll ever meet. Just donā€™t call her fat, or hurt people in front of her.
  • Big Eater: Has a healthy appetite, to put it mildly.
  • Character Development: Daryl's becoming more assertive and comfortable in the platoon, but sheā€™s still young and inexperienced, being out of school only for a few months.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Implied. Apparently, her mother is an extremely strict parent of some kinds, and does not want Daryl to become a Pacificator, lest she suffers her grandmother's fate...
    • In light of new information, it may be that her mother didn't want her to end up like Castella Brandsford.
  • Die or Fly: How Daryl learns new tricks.
  • Evil Laugh: Yes, we got one from her, of all people.
Cinna: That new spinster laugh, whereā€™s it coming from?!
  • Farm Girl
  • Fights Like a Normal: She learned her wrestling moves from a stubborn goat.
  • Friend to All Children: Even ones that ally themselves with pirates.
  • Graying Morality: Sheā€™s getting a hard lesson on the reality of life.
  • He Is Not My Boyfriend: Said this to Cinna about Allan.
  • Heroic BSoD: She experienced a mild one after a mission failure in which she contemplated quitting the platoon and starting anew.
  • Hidden Depths: Definitely more than the shy and inexperienced Pacificator she seems to be.
  • Humans Are Good: Believes in this strongly, which makes her ripe for Graying Morality.
  • Legacy Character: Implied to be this in-universe. Her grandmother, Helen Churchill, was a very famous Pacificator of Light who untied Italy and helped to find many, many T-Pacificators. Bismunā€™s gambling on Daryl showing the talents her grandmother had.
    • Confirmed in chapter 43. Daryl definitely inherited every bit of Helen's power, and she is actually a very powerful Pacificator. The superiors, however, are afraid of another Castella incident, so they intentionally mislabeled Daryl as a weak "feebler."
  • The Idealist: Currently is struggling between being this and being a Stepford Smiler, thanks to Graying Morality.
  • Light 'em Up: The basis of her powers. She's so good at this, she's actually able to access the entire electromagnetic spectrum... from radio waves to gamma waves.
  • Magic Staff: The staff was inherited from her grandmother. It is an old staff, obviously, and has a huge crack on the orb. Turns out her mother inflicted that crack on the staff when she hurled it into a wall after catching Helen teaching her granddaughter a few tricks...
  • Naive New Comer: To being an active Pacificator.
  • New Meat: Youngest on the team and fresh out of school.
  • Passing the Torch: Implied to be the case with her and her grandmother.
  • The Pollyanna: Mixed with Stepford Smiler.
  • Power Crutch: She needs her staff to create a flare, via the orb atop it.
  • The Power of the Sun
  • Samaritan Syndrome: The reason she became a Pacificator - she wanted to help people just like her grandmother.
  • Secret Legacy: Thereā€™s a lot more to her than it looks, and then thereā€™s her famous grandmother...
  • Smarter Than You Look: People tend to dismiss her because sheā€™s only a sixteen year-old who just graduated. However...
  • What Kind of Lame Power Is Heart, Anyway?: Those with the power of light donā€™t get much respect; theyā€™re often called "feeblers." However, Daryl discovered The Power of the Sun...
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist
  • With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: Daryl is at a very real and legitimate risk of this - it's confirmed in chapter 43 that powers affect one's mental and physical health. Castella, who had the exact same power Daryl has, was infamous for her Sanity Slippage and the resulting murder of thousands of people. On the other hand, Daryl's grandmother Helen, who had this power too, didn't go insane. But, Helen did go blind and is so weak, she can barely move. Either way, Daryl's future doesn't look so bright.

    Muneca Powell

Muneca Powell

The Pacificator of Gravity, rank A.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiMuneca_851.gif

  • Ambition Is Evil: Subverted; sheā€™s very ambitious, but not evil.
  • Berserk Button: Lots. Being touched, people saying or doing rude and vulgar things in public, people being mean to or hurting children, and lastly, the biggest one of all - Cinna.
  • Get Out!: Gave a big "LEAVE!" to Daryl when Daryl accidentally saw her burned arm and back.
  • Gorgeous Period Dress: She wears Victorian-era clothes. One of the reasons she dresses like this is to hide her extensive burn scars.
  • Gravity Master: Her power type.
  • Hates Being Touched: Donā€™t even touch her on the shoulder or youā€™ll get slapped with a sexual assault charge. That's because it's actually painful for her to be touched, thanks to her extensive burn scars.
  • Headbutting Heroes: With Cinna.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: As mentioned before, she's good at sword-fighting. See Parasol of Prettiness for more.
  • Hidden Depths: Muneca's very inflexible about rules, right? Well... her parasol is actually a Sword Cane, for real - and the catch is that it's illegal. Our Muneca is actually breaking the rules, big time!
    • Apparently she's excellent at making coffee, much to Cinna's delight when she made authentic Italian cappuccino.
  • Honor Before Reason: Sheā€™s very obsessed with her duty.
  • A Kind of One: Sheā€™s the only Pacificator of Gravity. She was so valuable that when she became available for recruitment, it had to be decided by a lottery.
  • Last-Name Basis: Weā€™ve yet to see Muneca address any adults by their first name.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Confirmed. A significant character arc for Muneca is her becoming comfortable with her sexual preference and sexuality identity.
  • Mama Bear: Do not harm the children. Even the bratty ones.
  • Meaningful Name: Muneca is Spanish for doll.
  • Not So Above It All: Is willing to swoop as low as to blackmailing and getting into petty trusses with Cinna.
  • Parasol of Prettiness: She always carries around a parasol — but it's not just an useless accessory! It comes with a couple of little tricks...
  • Pride: One of her major character flaws.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: As discussed on the main page, Muneca gets quite a bit of help from Kathy.
    • Really, it's more of a Screw the Difficulties, I Have Connections! thing, since Muneca is very strict about following rules. What's making it a bit hard for her to get promotions is part stubbornness, and part bad luck.
  • Secret Legacy: As it turns out, Muneca has inherited her power from her mother, who inherited it from her mother... who has inherited it from her mother as well. That's at least four generations!
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Just for reading.
  • Sour Prude: Subverted. Sheā€™s just really very modest and polite. It's a Berserk Button of hers when people say vulgar things in public.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Sheā€™s taller than some of the men, and pretty much every other woman thus far in the comic.

    Cinna Grossul

Cinna Grossul

A Pacificator of Fire, rank B.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiCinna_1232.gif

  • The Gadfly: Very much so. She gets called out on this.
  • Groin Attack: Sheā€™s a rare female victim of this.
  • Hollywood Thin: Darylā€™s been trying to get her to eat more.
    • She's so thin (and light), Enlil was able to send her flying with her wind attack... Blow Her Away, indeed.
  • The Hyena: Sheā€™s this, especially when it comes to Muneca.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Cinna doesnā€™t like her power of fire.
  • The Infiltration: Apparently she's very good at this, so good that her own platoon never knew she does this until Bismun mentioned it!
  • Lady Swears-a-Lot: By far the dirtiest mouth in the comic.
  • Malicious Misnaming: She has a history with Muneca and Kathy, and it shows in how she talks to them.
    • Cinna calls Muneca "Doll" and every thinkable variant of it. Stubborn doll, berserk doll, idiotic doll, Doll-Rex, and so on.
    • She calls Kathy "Miss Pimples," "Pimpleface," and "Miss Bucktooth."
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: With Muneca.
    • In particular, the reason Jacob hates her so much is that she once gave him her own special version of head noogie... called "Knuckles of Hell." (She uses her Playing with Fire power to intensify the pain... ouch.)
  • The Nicknamer: Again, especially towards Muneca, who hates being called "Doll."
  • Not a Morning Person: Confirmed by Muneca.
Muneca: You have a bad habit of staying up late and sleeping late in morning!
  • Noodle Incident: How she lost her tooth. All we know is that she started a fight...
    • Believe it or not, but we finally got the story in chapter 69! She started a fight by teasing Kathy, who blew her top. Kathy smacked Cinna in the face with a hardcover Bible — literally Bible-thumping — and knocking out the tooth as a result.
  • One of the Boys: Played with. Sheā€™s not exactly averse to the girly stuff, but rather she wants a man who would like her for who she is.
  • Playing with Fire: Her power type.
  • Power Crutch: She cannot start a fire without fuel and oxygen. She carries around incendiary objects with her, such as the bombs.
  • Real Women Never Wear Dresses: Played with. She normally doesnā€™t really like the girly girl stuff everyday, but she would dress "sexy" for dates.
  • Scot Ireland: Averted. Sheā€™s actually from Italy, but that doesnā€™t stop people from assuming sheā€™s Irish.
  • Shipper on Deck: She teases Daryl endlessly about Allan... and tries to get them together.
  • The Smart Girl: Technically, her role is the intelligence and the guide of the platoon and she's also the default undercover agent. She certainly knows a lot about pretty much everything, and itā€™s her job to keep up on tabs on the current events. However, the some of the planning goes to Taffe and diplomacy goes to Larima.
  • Stealth Expert
  • Stop Being Stereotypical: She doesnā€™t like it when people assume sheā€™s from Scotland or Ireland.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: With Muneca, to put it mildly.
  • They Died Because of You: Blames Muneca for Porenn's death.
  • Toothy Issue: Sheā€™s missing a tooth.
  • Underground City/Under City: Cinna is from the Sewers of Rome. Most of the old, major cities have a sprawling underground section for the poorest of the poor.

    Taffe Torbern

Taffe Torbern

A Pacificator of Air, rank B. The younger sister.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiTaffe_7824.gif

  • Exact Eavesdropping: A different take on the trope: Taffe eavesdrops on people quite a bit, apparently because sheā€™s nosy and just could. Sometimes she manages to catch important tidbits from the enemies.
  • Fights Like a Normal: She has a special combo. First, kick the guy in the knee. Second, smack him in the chin with a palm heel strike. Thirdly? Groin Attack.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Played with between her and Larima. Larima loves being a Pacificator, while Taffe isn't motivated at all because she never wanted to be one. Larima is something of The Ditz and a Genki Girl, while Taffe is The Stoic.
  • The Glorious War of Sisterly Rivalry: There's friction between her and Larima; for example, Taffe refused to hug Larima back when they were reunited in Basque. According to Word of God, there's a rift between them. In chapter 42, they had a big fight off-screen...note  and we finally see the fight itself via flashback in chapter 45.
  • Groin Attack: There's a reason why her only footwear are those steel-tipped boots.
  • He Is Not My Boyfriend: No, Taffe does not like Gincoi that way.
  • Kick Chick: Look, she really loves Groin Attacking guys, okay?
  • The Lancer: She's officially the second-in-command.
  • Mundane Utility: Taffe uses her power to help her hear. If the top big-shots knew about this, they likely will reprimand her for this.
  • Not So Above It All: Occasionally, she can't resist the urge to make Larima look stupid.
  • Not So Stoic: She worries about her sisterā€™s safety and sheā€™s usually quick to leap to Larimaā€™s defense. Very likely the reason she was so pissed at Larima when they reunited in Basque - Larima hadnā€™t told her that she was okay, so Taffe spent days worrying about her.

    Larima Torbern

Larima Torbern

A Pacificator of Water, rank Elite. The older sister.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiLarima_8581.gif

    Bismun Volborth

Commander Bismun Volborth

The commander of Platoon 113. Just a regular guy.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiBismun_5317.gif

Allies

    Qamra Umar

Commander Qamra Umar

The commander of Platoon 110. Specializes in intelligence.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiQmara_1499.gif

    Egmond Dumortier

Egmond Dumortier

Used to teach the Pacificators, but quit to become a mercenary.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiEgmond_8902.gif

    Breanne Geothe

Commander Breanne Geothe

The commander of Platoon 126. Specializes in history and mythology.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiBreanne_8253.gif

  • The Corrupter: A good example. She doesn't like the changes the Chancellor has done to the Pacificators, so she's working to bring him down and restore the Pacificators to the original Guardians of Peace.
  • Running Gag: She keeps forgetting to correct the misspelling of her last name on her official challenge card. It's spelled as Breanne Geothite, instead of Geothe.
  • Tricked-Out Shoes: She has daggers and pepper spray projectors hidden in her boots.
  • Will They or Won't They?: With Christopher.
    • Again, lampshaded by Shirley in a note she gave to Christopher.
Shirley: One of my dreams is to arrange a big wedding ceremony. When you and Breanne decide to go for it, please give me a call!
    • However, it seems that by chapter 49, they've broken up.
  • Working with the Ex: Bismun and Breanne used to date. Bismun broke up with her because he couldn't stand her climbing all over him "like a squirrel."

    Allan Colleman

Allan Colleman

An archaeologist on Platoon 126. He's just a boring, regular guy. (Also specializes in dead languages and ancient computers.)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiAllen_7240.gif

  • The Mole: Allan is actually a Preserver sent to spy on the Pacificators, specifically on Breanne.
  • Omniglot: At least with the ancient, dead languages.

    Christopher Bowen

Christopher Bowen

An archaeologist on Platoon 126. Specializes in ancient machines.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiChris_9298.gif

    Shirley Springer

Shirley Springer

Secretariat for Platoon 126.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiShirley_7331.gif

  • Sassy Secretary: Only towards Breanne when they're alone. Usually, she's very reserved.

    Kathy Lee

Kathy Lee

A freelancer Pacificator of fire, rank Elite. Very good friend of Muneca.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/profilechibkathylee_130.jpg

  • Asian Buck Teeth: Some speculate that she may has some Asian ancestry, due to her eyes and last name. If not, then this trope is merely Irish Buck Teeth.
    • Apparently it's a slightly sore subject with her, because Cinna gives her a hard time about it.
Cinna: Hey, haven't you filed down those rabbit teeth yet?
  • Big Eater: She ate three whole apple pies in just four days.
  • Blessed with Suck: Like Cinna, Kathy overheats whether she gets too angry.
  • Christianity Is Catholic
    • Which doubles as Fridge Logic, considering that she is Irish. What is Ireland well-known for? Duelling Protestants and Catholics.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Big time. She's lost her cool several times, and a couple incidents about her losing her temper has been mentioned... with special mention going to the fight in which Kathy knocked out Cinna's tooth.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: Her character profile on the website - and according to Cinna, even though she's biased - seem to imply this.
    • Confirmed in the later chapters. Really the only people Kathy is nice and sweet to are Muneca, Daryl, and her superiors. Cinna, on the other hand, continues to be bullied by Kathy (although, to be fair, sometimes Cinna brought it upon herself).
  • Playing with Fire: Her power type.
  • Rise of Zitboy: While she seems to have learned how to live with her acne a long time ago, she does have them bad.
    • Again, lampshaded by Cinna, who calls her "Miss Pimples" when she's not calling her "Miss Bucktooth."
  • Running Gag: She loves Daryl's apple pies.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: As mentioned above, she helps out Muneca whenever she could.
    • She gets called out on this by Cinna, but nobody else seems to have noticed.

Renegades

    Shiva

Shiva aka Kailash Mohanty

One of Odin's renegades. Unknown rank user of fire and earth.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiShiva_5435.gif

  • Mysterious Past: It's implied that he may had been a Pacificator once.
    • Confirmed in chapter 51. He was a member of Platoon 89, and he turned against them for reasons unknown.

    Enlil

Enlil aka Aneta Malko

One of Odin's renegades. Rank 8 user of air.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiEnlil_3126.gif

    Osiris

Osiris

One of Odin's renegades. Unknown rank user of light.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiOsiris_1754.gif

    Aphrodite

Aphrodite

One of Odin's renegades. Unknown rank user of light. Also a supermodel.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiAphrodite_4607.gif

  • Boob-Based Gag: Got into a Volleying Insults fight with Cinna over whether Aphrodite's boobs are real or not. Twice. And the second time, it was in Italian.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Aphrodite has a lot of fanart. Also in-universe, because she is apparently a well-known and well-paid supermodel.
  • Light 'em Up: Of the invisibility sort.

    Hermes

Hermes

One of Odin's renegades. Unknown rank, and his classification is unknown as well.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfileChibiHermes_8602.gif

  • Cool Bike: He has a nice motorcycle. Too bad he's still learning how to manage it.
  • Fragile Speedster: His power allows him to run really fast — yet he doesn't seem to know how to fight, and tends to wipe out pretty easily.

    Khnum

Khnum

One of Odin's renegades. Rank 9 user of earth and metal.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ProfilePacificatorsKhnumChibi_1232.jpg

  • Ironic Name: He is a Jew named after an Egyptian god.
  • Reclusive Artist: In-universe, he's known for this.
    • Chapter 40 suggests that Khnum was, in fact, the artist whom Larima had posed in the nude for before. Of course, they didn't know each other's identity at that time.
