This Pokémon fanfic is also a chatfic with most of the characters having usernames.

So here's Mew's Cribsheet to help new readers.

(Under Development! Can be edited as you please!)

The Chosen One

     Ash Ketchum

ultimateTrainer [UT]/binaryBuoy [BB2] (Ash Ketchum)

  • Adaptational Intelligence: Ash was taught Pokémon evolution and type matchup months before the start of his journey by Mew and the Kanto Bird Trio respectively. Unfortunately, the lessons did not include a survival instinct.
  • Alliterative Family: His Legendary handle binaryBuoy shares the alliteration with his father Lugia, beastieBirb.
  • Alliterative Name: Not with his name or normal handle, but his Legendary chat handle is binaryBuoy.
  • All-Loving Hero: Ash has made many friends. Even with Pokémon that have attempted to kill him.
  • Astral Projection: In Chapter 31/Episode 31, Ash does this in the aforementioned The Tower of Terror episode.
  • Back from the Dead: Twice... So far.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Mew has passed her button of evolutionary choice to him, such that he gets mad at anyone evolving their Pokémon too early or into a form they don't want, like at Lt. Surge and his Raichu and at the Eevee brothers trying to pressure their younger brother to evolve his Eevee into what they want.
    • Treating Pokémon as objects rather than living beings is also a big trigger for him, especially when said Pokémon are his friends. When Lawrence announces his intention to capture Articuno to "complete his collection", Ash goes silent and glares at him along with Articuno's siblings.
  • Brass Balls: Ash has risked his life for...
  • Composite Character: While this fanfic is definitely focused on the main anime itself, it has borrowed some elements from his movie 20-and-beyond incarnation, mainly starting out not being a huge inexperienced rookie and picking up the Rainbow Wing that set off the plot of Pokémon: I Choose You! Movie.
  • The Chosen One: Ash is one obviously but even among The Chosen Many, he stands out. Arceus and the Creation Trio discover that he is aurally linked to no less than eleven Legendaries, gets linked to the Bird Trio and Lugia during the Indigo League, and maybe more in the future. Arceus surmises that before Ash's life is out, he could eventually be aurally linked to all the Legendaries, making him not just "a" Chosen One, but *the* Chosen One. And that's not counting the fact that he's both Chosen and a legendborn, a quality only shared in history by Sir Aaron.
  • Determinator: Put Ash in a nightmare. He will climb his way back out. And that's just the opening act.
NU: HE'S TRYING TO CLIMB OUT.
    NU: BY ***HIMSELF***.
  • Doom Magnet: If he is not being watched by at least one Legendary... he will somehow manage to nearly kill himself. As of the Mewtwo Strikes Back Arc... even Marshadow being on Ash's team doesn't prevent it from occurring.
CS: I took my eyes off him for *five seconds*!
  • Duty That Transcends Death: Ash Ketchum will not abandon his friends or his team. If he dies he will climb back out, on his own if he has to. As demonstrated in the Rainbow Hero Arc.
  • Ideal Hero: Invoked as Ash is considered a fledgling Hero of Ideals by chasingMendacity (Zekrom) in Chapter 3/Episode 1 (I Choose You).
  • Idiot Hero: Also called this by chasingMendacity (Zekrom) in the same Chapter 3/Episode 1 (I Choose You).
CM: HE’S AN IDIOT BUT HE’S AN IDEALISTIC IDIOT AND I LOVE HIM FOR THAT.
  • Like Father, Like Son: He got his sense of direction from his father, Lugia.
  • Pals with Jesus: Ash is pretty much friends with a large number of Legendary Pokémon due to meeting them before and during his journey.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Ash Ketchum in a nutshell.
WD: This isn’t a question of capability. Ash is…
WD: Well, thanks to the four of you, he’s a mobile wrecking ball.
  • Phoneaholic Teenager: Justified since Ash’s phone is his main connection to the Legendary chat, but a few people have noticed or called out on Ash for spending too much time on his device, even in crises like being stuck on Lawrence III's airship.
  • Semi-Divine: As the biological son of Lugia. However, Word of God specified that he won't have any sort of power from his lineage beyond chat access, something he could already do with his phone.
  • Significant Birth Date: His birth date was the same day that Giratina created and released the latest version of the Legendary chat.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: As an Aura Adept, it's something he can learn. He's working on it, he currently can speak "emotional Pikachu" and "emotional Charizard".
  • Took a Level in Badass: When he caught the Mythical Pokémon Marshadow during his Kanto Pokémon Journey.
  • Unique Protagonist Asset: Ash is both a legendborn son of Lugia and Chosen of several Legendaries, including Lugia. While these circles aren't small, they almost never overlap; the only other instance in history is Sir Aaron, son and Chosen of Ho-Oh.
  • Weirdness Magnet: Much to Arceus and the Creation Trio's dismay.
  • Willfully Weak: Chose not to capture Ho-Oh even after winning his challenge against him, and does not use Marshadow or Arcticuno in official League battles. In his opinion, he'd rather be the Pokémon Master who wins because his team worked hard and worked together, instead of being the trainer who wins because he pulled out a Legendary.

Ash's Pokémon

Note: Eevee, in Chapter 101: Movie 1, Act 3 (Mewtwo Strikes Back), invents a version of Zoom that is only usable while they are in their pokéballs with their usernames being [Numbered Order of Pokémon Ash Caught]_[Name of Pokémon]. Also, despite Pikachu not being in his pokéball, Butterfree being released by that point and other Pokémon have yet to appear in the Eevee's version of Zoom, it is still quite obvious what their usernames would be.

In General

  • Going Native: Most of Ash's Pokémon pretty much start to emulate his weirdness.
    • Pikachu can electrocute Ground-types.
    • Bulbasaur can use moves he’s not supposed to know.
    • Kangaskhan can teleport and her daughter fought toe to toe with Marshadow.
    • Pidgeotto whom met Ash years before they were friends.
    • Eevee figured out how to do inter-Pokéball communication.
Eevee: I didn’t really do that, that was Porygon…
    • Charizard whom evolved really quickly compared to most of the Charmander line.
    • Squirtle once drove a robot Blastoise.
    • Butterfree is feared by Fire-types.

     Caught in Kanto

001_Pikachu (Pikachu)

  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: When Pikachu sees Ash's dead body during the Trial of the Rainbow Hero Arc, his grief-fueled electrical explosion actually staggers Arceus, Xerneas, Dialga and Palkia, who are trying to control the situation.note
  • Fighting Your God: In addition to the Mt. Tensei (Ho-Oh, Fire and Flying) and First Movie incidents (Mewtwo, Psychic); when he suspects that a shadow below Lapras is a Legendary he tells Lapras not to worry, because if it comes to a fight, the Legendary is probably a Water-type... So he'll have an advantage.
  • God of Thunder: Pikachu is stated to have the potential to store as much electrical charge in his body as Zekrom. Though he usually doesn't have that much stored.
  • Inexplicably Awesome: Pikachu's electric potential is more akin to a Legendary's than the one of a normal mon, and his attacks flat-out ignore the normal Ground-type No-Sell against electric attacks (not even Arceus' Earth Plate is immune). This puzzles all Legendaries greatly, and only Arceus seems to have an idea of where this power could come from.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Inferred trope. Because he never goes into his Poké-ball, he never interacts with the inter-Poké-ball video chat among Ash's team that Eevee developed. Nothing's been said in chat that Pikachu doesn't know about... so far.
  • Number Two: Of Ash's team.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Has fought twiceMulticolored's (Ho-Oh) one-on-one... And won. note
  • Super-Empowering: Whenever he's running on greater than normal charge... Ground-types beware. Turns out the reason Pikachu was capable of fending off those Spearow in his first battle with Ash is because the bolt of lightning he leapt into was sent by Zekrom. This supercharged Pikachu, which allowed him to (even in a weakened state) fend off the flock.
    • Discussed and Jossed in regards to both Pikachu's zapping Ground-types and his capacitance (ability to store Electrical Charge). The former no one has figured out yet and the latter is all his alone. It's nearly the size of Zekrom's.
  • Scissors Cuts Rock: This Pikachu can use Electric-type attacks on Ground-types and do a good amount of damage on them.

002_Butterfree (Butterfree)

003_Pidgeotto/003_Pidgeot (Pidgeotto/Pidgeot)

  • Commuting on a Bus: In the early part of Johto, Professor Oak asks Ash if she can help him commute for some long-distance research, meaning she'll be around at the lab but won't be on Ash's active roster as much.
  • Flying Brick: Flying-type, strength trains by lifting Brock's Geodude, and wears a Focus Sash to the Indigo League.
  • Forgotten First Meeting: While she was still a Pidgey, she got lost in a storm, accidentally flew into Ash's house and was nursed back to health by him and his mother. She never realised who the boy was until she recognises Ash's house.
  • It's Personal: AJ's Sandshrew beat her all the way back at the start of Ash's journey. She gets her own back during the Indigo League.
  • Not the Fall That Kills You…: Weaponizes this principle... (Just like some birds in Real Life do) Except non-lethally.

004_Eevee/004_Espeon (Eevee/Espeon)

  • Geek: Eevee, and by proxy Bill, from watching transforming mecha from Bill’s videos. This has led him to work out some of the Poké-ball's capabilities, like an inter-Poké-ball video chat system between Ash's roster.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: After evolving into Espeon, he doesn't quite know how to use his new Psychic Powers, which causes him to lose battles against Drake and Gary's own Eevee.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: Like Meowth, he someday dreams of speaking human. He knows it's possible thanks to Meowth and the Shamouti Slowking, but he just doesn't know how yet. He finally manages to say Ash's name in human, right before he evolves into Espeon.
  • Original Character: Wasn't around in canon, but...
    • Canon Immigrant: ...he may be one of these given the fact that Red (basically Ash's game counterpart) had an Espeon in Pokémon Gold and Silver before HeartGold and SoulSilver and got implemented in the second fic of the COAL series.

005_Bulbasaur (Bulbasaur)

  • Confusion Fu: Consistently pulls off moves, or at least variants of moves that he doesn't seem to naturally be capable of. Usually through Vine Whip.
  • The Cynic: Is called the team's grump due to his own pessimism on humans. When he was about to evolve, he was stubbornly certain that Ash would force him to evolve even if he didn't want to, not knowing that evolutionary choice is a big Berserk Button for his trainer.
  • Team Dad: Is considered in charge of the team if both Ash and Pikachu are unavailable.

006_Charizard/Six (Charizard)

  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Unlike the anime, Charmander's evolution into Charmeleon does not turn him into a jerk, and he remains close to Ash the whole time. He does however, develop a potty mouth.
  • Hates Being Alone: Charmander's time and experience with Cross has given him extreme separation anxiety, and he gets extremely restless any time he's away from Ash. It sticks even after he evolves all the way to Charizard.
  • Playing with Fire: Ash's first Fire-type Pokemon he caught and used him pretty well.
  • Put on a Bus: Like in canon, he decides to stay at the Charicific Valley. Unlike in canon, where he did it because of his crush on Charla, he did it to both help him get stronger and get over his separation anxiety regarding Ash, just like Charizardeux did to get over her anxiety with Mewtwo.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Charizard has the foulest mouth of any member of Ash's team.
  • You Are Number 6: Literally; while he's staying at the Charicific Valley, he's asked to use a nickname to differentiate himself (and because all the others do it). He decides on Six, as it is the number the team chat assigned him as Ash's sixth capture.

007_Squirtle/007_Wartortle (Squirtle/Wartortle)

  • Drunk with Power: After evolving, he immediately challenged Sparky while still riding the high. It didn't end well for him.
  • Large Ham: Can't do anything without being over the top about it.
  • Put on a Bus: In chapter 42 of Antics he decides to return to the Squirtle Squad after noticing that they hadn't managed to choose a new leader and are struggling without him, although he promises to come back to the ranch once he's established a successor.
  • Making a Splash: Being Ash's first Water-Type Pokémon that he caught.

008_Litwick/008_Lampent/008_Chandelure (Litwick/Lampent/Chandelure)

  • The Cameo: Did this to the filming of an In-Universe movie, where she somehow photobombed practically every scene. Even the credits.
  • Creepy Good: Described as "so nice to the point of it being awkwardly creepy".
  • Emergency Transformation: Faced with Butch and Cassidy's mind control machine, she got someone to throw her Ash's Dusk Stone so that her evolution into Chandelure gives her enough power to counter it. Afterwards, when Pikachu talks to her about his worries about evolving too early, she tells him that it was her choice to evolve at the current time and will live with her decision.
  • Gratuitous Japanese: Ash's Litwick, as mentioned in the author's notes, is characterized as the sort of Pokémon who’s excessively polite and cheerful to the point of being really creepy with a casual overuse (and probably butchering) of Japanese honorifics.

009_Primeape (Primeape)

A Fighting Type Ash caught on the way to Celadon City. Very Angry. Lots of punching. Until Ash figures out how to deal with him, he's carrying tissues.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Due to effectively taking over the role of Ash's strong but uncooperative Pokemon, especially after Ash lost the Fighting Grand Prix, he's noticeably a lot more angry and rude compared to his canon counterpart.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: Primeape has one strategy and it's to keep punching until his target is unconscious.
  • The Berserker: Will not listen to anybody if he's fighting. He usually has to be forcefully removed from a fight, either by his Poké-ball or being being knocked out.
  • Blood Knight: Will challenge anything and anyone for the thrill of the fight.
  • Decomposite Character: Due to Charizard still being obedient and loyal to Ash in this fanfic and due to Primeape staying on Ash's team after losing the Fighting Grand Prix, he effectively takes the "disobedient strong Pokemon" schtick canon Charizard had. He even got humbled by a Poliwrath by it giving him the same Near-Death Experience as Ash's Charizard in canon.
  • The Resenter: Doesn't appreciate Ash's training style and will actively disobey him in a fight. This has made him fairly unreliable in higher challenges. In fact, since he was never left at the Fighting Grand Prix, he has effectively taken Charizard's place as Ash's strong but uncooperative Pokémon, even learning his lesson against Tad's Poliwrath.

010_Muk (Muk)

  • Cuddle Bug: Loves hugs.
  • Gentle Giant: Despite his bulk, he's a friendly guy.
  • Offscreen Teleportation: Charizard and Pigeotto are on a roof having an emotional discussion. Then this happens,
    MUK: HERE. HAVE A HUG.
CHARIZARD: HOW THE FUCK DID YOU GET UP HERE

011_Kangaskhan (Shared by Kangaskhan and Junior)

  • Action Mom: Ash's Kangaskhan, specifically the mother of the parent-child duo, is the second fastest Pokémon on the team as she can seemingly teleport when her child, nicknamed Junior, is threatened. Later we learn how: Sucker Punch.
    SG: Sucker Punch.
SG: It only connects if the opponent is already preparing an attack.
SG: But then it always connects, and it connects first.
  • Apron Matron: Can and will ground other members of the team if they do something stupid. This also extends to Twonior.
KANGASKHAN: I don’t care that you’re not my child!
KANGASKHAN: Nobody’s parented you properly so I’m doing it!
  • Mama Bear: Ash's Kangaskhan to her child, nicknamed Junior.
  • Original Character: Neither of them were around in canon.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: To Meowth and Growlie while looking for her with binoculars
    KANGASKHAN: Good Afternoon, gentlemen.
    • And later on, Junior does this when her mother takes her eyes off her for a second.
  • Team Mom: Has acted as a voice of reason for several other team members, even beyond her daughter.

012_Tauros to 032_Tauros (Tauros x21)

  • Flat Character: Each of them has their own little personality quirk, from being the Big Eater and The Klutz to being Really Fond of Sleeping or The Quiet One, but aren't developed beyond that. This may change as the story goes on.
  • The Ghost: Tauros No. 18 is this, funnily enough. They are present when the whole herd is counted as a group, but cannot be found at any other time. Ash never actually even saw that one being captured; he was distracted for a moment and only saw the full Poké-ball.
  • You Are Number 6: In chat, they are all differentiated by their numbers.

033_ Marshadow note

034_Lapras (Lapras)

A Lapras that Ash caught in the Orange Archipelago to help the pokemon find his pod.
  • Forgot About His Powers: When Ash catches Lapras, the young Pokémon struggles to remember what moves he knows under stress.
  • Put Me In, Coach!: When he finds himself as the sole remaining Pokémon against Drake of the Orange Crew, he releases himself and tells Ash that he wants to fight, as Ash was contemplating forfeiting than send in someone so inexperienced.
  • Signature Team Transport: Functions as this for Ash during Adrift.

035_Snorlax (Snorlax)

  • Catching Some Z's: When he was first caught, he somehow rolled onto the video chat's volume control and deafened everyone else with his snoring.
  • Obsessed with Food: Hardly ever stops thinking about food. He butts into any conversation when he hears (or mishears) food words, and Ash once motivated him to stop a threat of the day by saying it was going to destroy all the food in the world.

036_ Articuno note

     Caught in Johto

037_Heracross (Heracross)

038_Chikorita (Chikorita)

  • Green-Eyed Monster: Due to her feelings towards Ash, she gets envious whenever he pays more attention to other Pokémon than her. After Ash leaves Charizard at the Charicific Valley, she tries to work out how to get him to do the same to Pikachu until the others call her out on it.
  • Rescue Romance: Ash managed to gain Chikorita's trust after saving her from a snowstorm Articuno made by accident. Though while the rescue comes from Ash, the romance is one sided on Chikorita's part.

039_Houndour (Houndour)

  • Ascended Extra: He's a member from the Houndour pack that Ash helped in canon.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: While Dark Types don't generally ask humans for help, they aren't evil and this one is quick to see Ash's Pokémon as his new pack.
  • Foil: To Chikorita; while Chikorita didn't like working with the others as a team because of her fixation on Ash, Houndour was quick to befriend Ash's other Pokémon since he’s a pack animal and, as such, is used to teamwork.
  • Graceful Loser: He doesn't leave Ash's team despite knowing it to be a possibility as according to him, he lost fair and square and Ash therefore earned the right to train him.

040_Noctowl (Noctowl)

  • Foil: To Houndour; while Houndour was perfectly fine with being captured and becoming part of a new pack, Noctowl was very salty about being captured.
  • Shall I Repeat That?: Takes some cues from Kaepora Gaebora by listing out his four rules and asking if the others understand, and when they don't acknowledge him, just starts repeating himself.
  • Smug Snake: Has evaded capture by many trainers in the past and has developed quite a superiority complex about it. In their first meetup, he belittles Ash and believes that he'll just make a fool of himself. We don't know what happened exactly but judging by his capture, he shouldn't have underestimated Ash.
    • Also, he insists that Ash's team is lying and that their trainer has a habit of naming his Pokémon after Legendaries. This lasts until Articuno joins the video call.
  • Sore Loser: After being captured, he insists that it was all a fluke and is overall furious about it. Yet despite every advantage he supposedly has, as Houndour points out... he still lost.
  • Tempting Fate: After running across Ash, he tells another Noctowl (a disguised Mew) to watch as he makes a fool out of another trainer. Gilligan Cut to Ash capturing him in an Ultra Ball.

Ash's allies

     Ash's Companions

In General

  • Dare to Be Badass: Most of his allies end up getting a pep talk from either him or one of his Legendary chat buddies to this effect.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: All of them were unaware about Ash being friends with all the Legendaries, until the events on Shamouti.

tropicalWaterfall [TW] (Misty)

Ash's first female traveling companion and first traveling companion. Also the Cerulean City Gym Leader.

unassumingBoulder [UB] (Brock)

Ash's first male travelling companion. Like Misty, he is also a Gym Leader and joins Ash in their traveling adventures.

doodleStarly [DS] (Verity)

mythicWisteria [MW] (Sorrel)

  • Mr. Exposition: Serves as this for Ash's traveling companions... Especially if Legendaries need to lead the group to some information, such as what to do in the Rainbow Hero Arc, they'll set him up to find it.
  • Seeker Archetype: Searching for more information on Legendary Pokémon and to see them. And then he met Ash Ketchum.

watchThis [WT] (Tracey)

     Other Allies

Professor Oak

One of the leading experts on Pokémon and family friend of the Ketchums. Developer of the PokéDex. Not part of the Chat.
  • Old Master: As in canon. He still has Dragonite around from his days as a Champion.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: Professor Oak's reaction to Ash catching Marshadow.
  • Developer's Foresight: His Pokédex can take pictures. Which means Ash can prove to him that he saw Ho-Oh. The one thing he forgot was to add the ability to distinguish regional Forms.

Delia Ketchum

Ash's mother.
  • Interspecies Romance: Had a relationship with Lugia while he was in human form, and Ash is the result.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: Knew that Lugia was Ash's father the entire time. Something that not even Lugia was aware she knew.

briskDexterity [BD] (Ritchie)

A trainer Ash meets in the Kanto League with an appearance and Pokémon very similar to Ash's own. Also, the Chosen of Celebi.
  • Hero of Another Story: as Celebi's chosen he's definitely destined for something great.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: He called in to announce his recent capture of a Shiny Klawf, only to be upstaged by Ash's capture of Articuno.

Legendary and Mythical Pokémon

In General, the Gods of the Pokémon World. Each description of each character are from Mew's Cribsheet.
  • Olympus Mons: Invoked. With all of them being Legendary and Mythical Pokémon.
  • Painting the Medium: Several have a quirk to their text speech in some form or other.
  • Shapeshifting: Thanks to Palkia's spatial warping, they are able to take human forms to interact with society.

     Kanto Legendaries

decibelDrama [DD] (Mew)

it’s me! best pokémon in the world.
  • Arrested for Heroism: Because Mew interfered with Team Rocket in Saffron City, along with Tapu Koko and Azelf, Arceus revokes her mod privileges.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!!: decibelDrama's (Mew) in a nutshell.
    • Mew was distracted from helping out in the "Mewtwo Strikes Back Arc," because she found a swivel chair in Mewtwo's office. She only came to help after she played with it so much that it broke.
  • Berserk Button: Pokémon being forced to evolve when they don't want to, as she believes that evolution is and always should be a personal choice. It's a button she's passed on to Ash, as they've both gotten angry with trainers evolving their Pokémon too early or into forms they don't want.
  • Cats Hate Water: She HATES getting wet.
  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: Self-inflicted during the Rainbow Hero Arc where she rams herself into a cliff so that she doesn't fall prey to The Corruption.
  • Promotion, Not Punishment: Due to her actions during the Rainbow Hero Arc, throwing herself and a massive Psychic shield between Ash and a berserk Marshadow as well as obscuring the view with a massive dust cloud, Arceus reinstates her mod privileges which were previously revoked.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Will interfere with the world if what she sees is unconscionable. Often discreetly, but sometimes overtly.
  • The Trickster: She occasionally plays pranks on the rest of the legendary cast, such as when she sends Pinkan berries disguised as bread balls to the Legendary Beasts and Arceus.

dantesNferno [DN] (Moltres)

you know all about moltres by now but i want it on record that he doesn’t shut up at all.
  • Godzilla Threshold: After realizing that the fire treasure allows him to communicate with whoever holds it, not just Ash, he uses the fact Misty just grabbed it to reveal himself as dantesNferno.
  • Mage Born of Muggles: A downplayed variant. Moltres has the same mother than his siblings (also a Moltres), but unlike them, who also have Legendary fathers of their respective species, his father was a Talonflame. He notes that it is very rare for Legendary/non-Legendary couples to produce a Legendary offspring.
  • Mature Younger Sibling: Youngest of the trio, and the most serious of the three... most of the time.
  • Mr. Exposition: Invoked. He tends to give lengthy explanations on a lot of things, which bores a lot of people that listen to him.
  • Not So Above It All: Tries to come across as more mature than his siblings. But whenever an opportunity to mess with them knocks, he takes it.

offensiveGlaceon [OG] (Articuno)

again, you know art. don’t need to say anything else.
  • Big Brother Instinct: He sees himself as this to Ash, giving him tips and encouraging him on his journey. Given that Ash is Lugia's son, it turns out that "big brother" describes his relationship with Ash somewhat more than purely metaphorically.
  • My Significance Sense Is Tingling: He was a little unsure of his Pokédex entry mentioning how he appears to doomed hikers that are freezing to death, but then he gets a bad feeling when Ash and his Pokémon are lost in the mountains.
  • Stop Worshipping Me: Feels this way about the Jynx at the Seafoam Islands.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: While Ash was out rescuing Chikorita, he flew all the way from the lab to the area Ash was in and his presence summoned a blizzard, making the search much harder than it needed to be.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Scyther, specifically. He once crash-landed on Murcott Island and didn't have a good time.

thunderbirbTwo [TT] (Zapdos)

again, you know her.

copyCat [CC] (Mewtwo)

  • Appropriated Appellation: Arceus is initially apologetic when giving Mewtwo his new chat account and telling him that the password to it is "copycat", given how insensitive it is to Mewtwo's clone origins. Mewtwo later adopts it as his official chat handle as a reminder of the lesson in humility he learned from Ash.
  • Cerebus Retcon: Initially, everyone thought that Mew being forcibly logged out was just a prank being made by another Mew. It turns out it was Mewtwo, desperately trying to work his way through an identity crisis.
  • The Chain of Harm: To Charizardeux. He is at least aware of the problem and trying to fix it last we saw of them.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Due to a horribly mistimed message from Giratina regarding his attempts to log in, Mewtwo comes to the conclusion that he means nothing to anyone. This is part of the explanation for the events of the Mewtwo Strikes Back Arc.
  • Exhaustion-Induced Idiocy: This is at least part of the explanation for the events of the Mewtwo Strikes Back Arc. The reason he gets into a daze for extended periods of time, as Cresselia explains to him, is that he hasn't had a proper rest in months.
  • The Ghost: Initially is invoked as this in the beginning until the Mewtwo Strikes Back Arc.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Mewtwo can see the log-in prompt for the legendary chatroom, but initially had no idea what the password is, preventing him from knowing what was going on. During the aftermath of the Mewtwo Strikes Back Arc, he finally gets a proper account.
  • Screw Destiny: He takes this view in an unhealthy way which sets off the Mewtwo Strikes Back Arc, wanting to define himself in some way unrelated to Mew. He takes on a healthier version of this afterwards with an I Am What I Am mentality.
  • Walking Spoiler: It's hard to mention his existence without spoiling the Mewtwo Strikes Back Arc.

     Johto Legendaries.

beastieBirb [BB] (Lugia)

he *says* he’s from johto but he spends most of his time in the orange islands shouting at the kanto birds who don’t live in kanto.
  • Big Secret: Has one involving Ash that he isn't ready to tell yet, though the other Legendaries already know. As of chapter 38 the secret is out: he's Ash's father.
  • The Confidant: To Ash. He's often the one Ash speaks his insecurities to privately... once he stops avoiding Ash.
  • Interspecies Romance: Lugia, a Legendary Pokémon, had Delia, a human, as his mate once, and they even managed to have an offspring: Ash.
  • Like Father, Like Son: He definitely gave his sense of direction to Ash.
  • No Sense of Direction: Probably has the worst sense out of all the Legendaries.
  • The Reliable One: In General. There's a reason he's in charge of keeping the Kanto Birds, and thus the Beast of the Sea manageable.
  • Stealth Pun: With some Foreshadowing; the hexadecimal color code used by his chat handle is #485DAD.

blazingGlory [BG] (Entei)

he’s a bit boring.
  • Brutal Honesty: When it comes to Ash's Eighth Gym challenge against Fire type leader Blaine.
  • The Dutiful Son: To Raikou's... not.
  • Not So Above It All: Normally quite responsible... If sometimes maliciously compliant in that he won't tell the chat what Ash is doing for no reason... Until the peanut butter balls come into play.
  • Orgasmically Delicious: When he receives and eats a peanut butter ball from a bakery, he ends up exploding the nearby gym.

boltfromTheblue [BT] (Raikou)

he’s a lazy idiot who’d rather sit around and play games all day than do work, like the rest of us have to do most of the time. (i mean, i know *i* get a lot of flak for being playful and irritating, but i actually do the stuff i’m meant to do, eventually.)
  • Basement-Dweller: Why is Raikou the least-seen Legendary Beast? He is exceedingly antisocial and would rather hole up in the basement of the Burned Tower watching TV... if he could ever manage to get cable down there.
  • Childish Older Sibling: The eldest of the Legendary Beast Trio but is the laziest of the three.
  • Hikikomori: Will only leave of his own volition for television. And even then he wants to drag it to the basement. Apparently he's always been like that, as mere seconds after his resurrection he immediately dove right into the basement.
  • The Gods Must Be Lazy: Olympus Mons? He is. Rarely leaves his father's basement, and complains a lot when forced out? He does.

crystallineSlush [CS] (Suicune)

i’m biased because i hate water so i can freely say she’s a menace to all of catkind but at least she's sensible.
  • The Chew Toy: Constantly gets hit with either overpowered or stray attacks while keeping an eye on Ash. Jokes are often made of her knowing Follow Me.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Responsible for Team Rocket kidnapping a Cubone and its mother.
  • Orgasmically Delicious: Shares this trait with her sibling; Entei, but not her father.
[MOD] TM: Is there any reason why Suicune just fled the tower at high speed?
[MOD] TM: With… aurorae leaking from her mouth?

outtaTime [OT] (Celebi)

uniqueish. she’s a time travelling troll. there are multiple of her but it’s the same her just at different points in ‘her own personal timeline’. basically she’s a pest and that’s all you need to know.
  • Other Me Annoys Me: Trolls herself. Because she had to go through it!
  • Shipper on Deck: Loves her crack ships. Just more polite about it.
  • Stable Time Loop: Celebi makes these... A lot.
  • Temporal Paradox: Celebi makes a joke about "Guardian Angel Shipping", a joke ship between Ash and Mew. Mespirit gleefully takes the title and makes it real some time in the future... Which is where Celebi heard it in the first place.

twiceMulticolored [TM] (Ho-Oh)

for me it’s hard to tell with him because he gets a new personality every time he’s reborn, but this time around he’s just a responsible guy, which is refreshing kinda.
  • Fee Fi Faux Pas: While initially embarrassed the first time he calls Ash his Hero, he eventually says it with pride after their battle.
  • God Was My Copilot: Is one of the mods that help manage the human side of Ash's chat, without letting any of Ash's friends know that he's an actual Legendary.
  • Hopeless with Tech: He has yet to figure out that you can't copy text out of a picture, among other things.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: Ho-Oh always knew he'd outlive his Legendborn Sir Aaron as he wasn't immortal unlike Ho-Oh, but he was still devastated when Sir Aaron disappeared and died in his prime to save the Tree of Beginning.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: One of the chat mods and generally will only yell at someone if they've done something wrong... Like stealing someone else's cable tv.

     Hoenn Legendaries

bosunSoul [BS] (Manaphy)

or at least, it *would* be manaphy if any of them were interested in being prime right now. the name’s kinda reserved until then.
  • The Ghost: In the first story (And likely until Battle Frontier).

galvanizedGubbins [GG] (Registeel)

another regi, not much to see here, moving on.

glacierNinepin [GN] (Regice)

ditto (but not an actual ditto).

groundShaker [GS] (Groudon)

unique. groudon is a 50/50 pokémon. either he’s fighting kyogre or he’s recuperating after rayquaza beat him up for fighting kyogre.

nominalGneiss [NG] (Regirock)

regi #4, nothing new, although he has a habit of disappearing when you’re not looking at him.

nebulaDiscursor [ND] (Deoxys)

unique (we think). it’s an alien who’s basically in super-detention after crashing an asteroid into arceus. he can’t spell for shit so you may need a translator.
  • The Quiet One: Rarely speaks unless prompted by somebody else, and even then not for very long.
  • Rouge Angles of Satin: In-Universe; he can't spell for space rocks. Not that he really wants to, either, as he thinks text-based communication is outdated.

nestedTempo [NT] (Latios)

he does a lot of music work and he’s a great guy to hang out with but he gets overshadowed by latias most of the time and the two of them sort of come as a package deal.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The responsible sibling to his sister's bratty behaviour.
  • Trauma Button: Due to the loss of his own father, enough mentions of parenthood can set him off, like when he snapped at Ash for talking about finding his own father and about Butterfree returning to the Oak Ranch with some eggs.

skylineCrash [SC] (Rayquaza)

unique. big green dragon sounds like he’d be a fun guy but he spends most of his life with a migraine after dealing with groudon and kyogre. (and trust me, i took over for him once, and that nearly put me out of commission for a week.)
  • Beleaguered Boss: Spends the majority of his time keeping an eye on Groudon and Kyogre, and wishes they'd stop butting heads for more than 5 seconds.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: Really wishes the other Legendaries would stop bringing up the time he accidentally flew into a mountain.
  • Synchronization: He's noted to be the Legendary to have had the most Chosen. This trope manifests when he and his Chosen reach altitudes too high for normal beings to breathe, but the synchronization between him and his Chosen prevents the latter from suffocating; he describes it as "breathing for two people".

tsunamiBeluga [TB] (Kyogre)

unique. like groudon, she’s either fighting him or resting after rayquaza broke them up. also very lazy but if you were a giant whale you’d be lazy too.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Groudon. The two of them will not stop taking shots at each other.
  • Ascended Extra: Remained in the background for most of Ash's Indigo journey, but started to take more interest when Ash traveled to the Orange Islands.
  • Big Eater: See the incident described in Extreme Omnivore. She's enormous, and has an appetite to match.
  • Butt-Monkey: In her time in the spotlight during the Orange Islands, despite her stature and divinity, she suffers enough mishaps to puncture her ego, from crashing into islands or the city of Samiya to being lifted into the air by the Beast of the Sea and then dumped back into the ocean.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: While she is typically aloof and claims not to be interested by what Ash does, she eventually grows a soft spot for him seeing him help Lapras find his pod, even pointing him in the right direction at the end.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Her immediate reaction to the Rocket submarine sinking? Eat it.
  • God Is Neutral: States that she is this, all she cares about is being respected. Her actions leave much to be desired however.
  • Jerkass Gods: Scares Lapras because she was trying to make a point to Ash. He cares more about that than whatever she was saying. She's also left the Beast of the Sea, a huge climate nexus that could devastate the world if disrupted by severe weather, completely untouched because she can't be bothered.
  • Never My Fault: Neither scaring Lapras, nor scaring an island of fossil Pokemon bad enough that the island sinks is her fault.
  • Noodle Incident: Once sunk a cruise liner so she could wear it as a hat. This is a reference to a scene of Legendtrapped that Kinrah has yet to publish.
  • Painting the Medium: ~~~She rather lazily begins all her text with a wave.
  • Tsundere: Non-romantic example; she finds herself helping Ash find Lapras's pod at the end of the Orange Island arc, while trying to project a Jerkass Façade. The implication is that she doesn't want Groudon to find out she's going soft.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: To a degree. When the Beast of the Sea started buffeting her around, she pushed back against and inadvertently kept any of the weather effects from being felt too far out of the Orange Islands, meaning that none of the other Legendaries realized what was going on.

tenaciousNova [TN] (Latias)

cute exterior, like me, but what she really *really* wants is to be the main character. i don’t need that because i’m the main character already.
  • Attention Whore: Constantly envisions herself as the main character, and can be quite a brat about it.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The foolish brat to her brother's responsible air.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Latias is an irresponsible brat at the best of times, but the moment she sees that the Viridian Gym hurts the trainers themselves, she immediately attempts to hack in and stop it.
  • Noodle Incident: Was responsible for something called the Alto Mare Incident/Crisis, all because she wanted to be involved in something exciting.
  • Playful Hacker: One of Latias's main traits. She is constantly trying to get into contact with Ash or infiltrate the chat, forcing Giratina to try and stay one step ahead of her. She's also not as good at it; one time she tried messing with the cameras recording the Indigo League and ended up shutting down the whole broadcast.
  • Railroading: Despite warnings from the other mods, Latias is always trying to get Ash to go where she wants him to go (such as towards Zeraora), rather than let him play out his own journey. She's often walking on thin ice with them because of it.
  • Shower of Angst: Is often mentioned to be sulking in the shower when things don't go her way.

wishGranted [WG] (Jirachi)

unique, although like manaphy, the username is sort of reserved. jirachi only wakes up for about a week every thousand years, which is disappointing since he’s a blast to hang around with.
  • The Ghost: In the first story (And likely until Hoenn).

     Sinnoh Legendaries

biologicalComputer [BC] (Regigigas)

unique. don’t expect any intelligible conversation, or at least one that doesn’t last less than an hour. you know how computers get slower the older they are? regigigas is basically as old as the planet. do the math.
  • The Alleged Computer: Despite being a legendary Pokémon, the titan's often compared to a very old and slow computer and takes up to 30 minutes to respond to a question, if you're lucky.

concentratedWillpower [CW] (Azelf)

unique. all three of the lake guardians are just really nice guys, except don’t call them guys ‘cause they use they/them.

doctorWhom [DW] (Dialga)

unique, as if it wasn’t obvious. don’t ask him to do anything time-related for fun because he’ll tell you it isn’t fun.
  • Heroic B So D: Happens in early Adrift when he looks at a picture of the GS ball. No one yet knows why, not even Arceus, and if he does he isn't telling.
  • Not So Above It All: Only told Ash that he would be unable to revive Sorrel's Luxray after checking and confirming that to do so would doom the world.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He is often the admin in charge of the chat, due to being rather level-headed... most of the time.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: This is in essence his immediate reaction to the GS ball, followed with him banning himself. Twice.
  • Time Master: Naturally. He's so good at this, he can even detect time manipulation from other continuities.

grassrootsOptimism [GO] (Shaymin)

really really nice and a super fun pokémon to be with. at least, the prime is. the rest of her species have a reputation for being jerks.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: The Prime Shaymin is fairly easy-going, but when she sees the state of Gringey City, specifically how her cousin had been neglecting his duties, she literally blows up at him.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Decides that it has been crossed and tells Brock of the existence of the chat during the Revelation: Lugia arc as the effects from the chaos in Shamouti get worse.
  • My Species Doth Protest Too Much: If Mew's comment on her is to be believed, her Nice Guy attitude is not the norm among her species.
  • Nice Guy: Shaymin is among the nicest Legendaries of the chat, being supportive and cheerful. That said, don't make her mad.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Upon hearing about Gringey City she flies down from Sinnoh, absorbs all the polution, and then lets off a massive Seed Bomb to purify the area... And knocks her cousin who was supposed to be doing this senseless.
  • Saying Too Much: She isn't very good as keeping the fact that she's a legendary pokemon a secret, luckily she was saved by Ash's earlier lie about everyone else on the chat being roleplayers.
  • Spanner in the Works: Of the plan to keep Ash's human friends in the dark about the true nature of the chat after she accidentally joins the human part of it.
  • Uncredited Role: In-Universe. Says that if Shaymin as a species were credited for all their movie appearances they'd be the richest species on the planet. (They keep being mistaken for small shrubs.)

garrulousWharf [GW] (Mesprit)

unique. see previous comment about azelf. don’t touch their tails or you’ll lose all your emotion and turn into tapu fini. (zing!)

moltenOpportunity [MO] (Heatran)

i don’t really know this guy, the only thing i know is that he’s blind.

notaryMemento [NM] (Uxie)

unique. lake guardian #3, nothing new. does a lot of memory-related stuff.
  • Berserk Button: Takes great offense at the implication that good parenting and memory aiding involves smashing a child with a 2 by 4.
  • In-Universe Camera: When Giratina is streaming from the Reverse World.
  • Painting the Medium: They Tend To Enunciate Very Carefully .

nightmareUnleaded [NU] (Darkrai)

handle says it all, really. he only really operates because he hates all of us.
  • Caps Lock: HIS WAY TO PAINT THE MEDIUM.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While crude and grumpy, all of his on-screen appearances have had him being helpful, whether it's smacking a misbehaving Marshadow or helping Ash with an out-of-body experience.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Cresselia and him can't stand each other.
  • Tsundere: Without the romance. Even while actively helping Ash, he maintains his grouchiness and insists that he's not doing it for him.

topiaryDreamscape [TD] (Cresselia)

she tends to poke around in peoples dreams without their permission so be careful. other than that she’s nice except for when darkrai’s mentioned.

theOne [TO] (Arceus)

obviously unique. you know about arceus. the original one. or, to me, grandad.
  • Above the Gods: As Creator Deity to the rest of the pantheon.
  • God Is Good: He's a really nice guy, and really only wants the best for people. He also gives Ash a choice in returning back to life, despite what Dialga implies might happen to the world if he doesn't.
  • God's Hands Are Tied: Sets down this rule. Part of it is because it would be bad if Legendaries were seen helping one specific person, and part of it is simply that he wants to watch Ash grow without (much) outside assistance. The "unless there is no other option" part has only come into play twice, both of which involve Ash's death.
TO: Above all else, unless there is no other option,
    TO: We do not interfere.
  • Not So Above It All: His response to getting a care package of baked goods with Pinkan berries (Anime exclusive berry that turns Pokemon that eat them pink for a length depending on how many they've had) in them? Continue eating and send a care package to Mew using Pinap Berries (which make you more likely to drop something).
  • Not So Omniscient After All: He did it to himself, simply because he finds the concept of omniscience boring and enjoys the surprises in life.

worldDistributor [WD] (Palkia)

unique, again obviously. like dialga, except more easily annoyed.
  • Ambiguously Related: Seems to have some sort of connection to Champion Cynthia of Sinnoh - the implication is that Cynthia is Palkia's daughter just like how Ash is Lugia's.
  • Lady Swears-a-Lot: Compared to her brothers, she uses a lot more profanity. When she gets really upset, the resulting Cluster F-Bomb has to be censored by both a black bar and a warning message.
  • Not So Above It All: Helps her father in a prank war by delivering a "care Package" to Mew that was made with concentrated Pinap Berry juice. (Which by GO!/Let's Go! Mechanics makes Pokemon who eat them more prone to dropping things.) She was grinning like a loon the whole time.
  • Shapeshifting: Her spatial warping allows her to shift her body into a human form, such as Pearl of the International Police.
  • Space Master: Naturally. Her favored mode of teleportation is actually to move the entire Universe around her.
  • Taking the Fight Outside: As deity of Space, she is able to make two beings occupy the same space at the same time from different continents. Head-first.

wonkyWindlass [WW] (Giratina)

unique. not the best social pokémon but he's the one who set this whole chat thing up so he's cool.
  • Caps Lock: HIS WAY TO PAINT THE MEDIUM.
  • The Ditherer: When he was ready to launch the latest iteration of the chat system for the Legendaries, he was so sure that he'd mess it up and make everyone mad at him that he didn't launch it for a long while until he suddenly got the nerve.
  • Face of a Thug: Despite his dark draconic looks, he's actually really nice and a huge dork who's always second-guessing himself in personal interactions.
  • Fourth-Wall Observer: As the Legendary in charge of alternate worlds, he is aware of things happening outside of the story.
  • Nice Guy: Is always nice and personable to his friends, despite his terrifying appearance.
  • Synchronization: Ash became his Chosen at birth when it happened at the exact same time he released the current version of the chat. The exact effects of this synchronization aren't known since Giratina never had a Chosen before, but it can already be seen in action on Mount Tensei, where Ash dying instantly K.O.s him and during the Mewtwo Strikes Back arc when due to Ash feeling Mewtwo's anger, he himself becomes angry for no reason in particular.
  • Techno Wizard: Is the one to create the entire Legendary chat system in the first place. And is constantly making updates and improvements wherever he can.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Giratina requesting that troublemakers please stop trying to log into Mew's account almost immediately pushes Mewtwo to a Rage Breaking Point, kickstarting the events of his movie.

     Unova Legendaries

cumuloBurnout [CB] (Thundurus)

unique. he’s like me in that he does most things for shits and giggles but unlike me he won’t hesitate to actually hurt someone if he thinks it’s funny.
  • Apocalypse How: Nearly set off the destruction the planet's ecosystem by starting a fight over a climate nexus.
  • Evil Is Petty: Why he went along with Yan's plan to ruin the Kanto Bird Trio's day.
  • Jerkass Gods: He and his brother will frequently mess with humans just for the hell of it, and said messing involves dropping storms on their heads.
  • Not So Similar: A duo example. Despite being compared to Groudon and Kyogre with himself and Tornadus due to having a beleagured head legendary for a babysitter (Rayquaza for the Weather Trio and Landorus for the Forces of Nature), the former two are often butting heads with each other most of the time, while the latter two can cooperate with each other when the opportunity presents it (usually via tormenting humans).
  • Painting the Medium: Begins his text with /\/ little lightning bolts.

chasingMendacity [CM] (Zekrom)

he calls himself the champion pokémon of ideals, if you buy into that. he doesn’t have an indoor voice so if you meet him you’ll probably get deafened. and/or zapped accidentally.

dualistTao [DT] (Kyurem)

not a nice guy. he’s great when you get to know him but he doesn’t want to get to know you.
  • The Cynic: Always thinks the worst of people, and isn't afraid to speak his mind. In addition to getting banned from the Ash thread for being rude, he also tries to chew out Reshiram for giving him a birthday present that used Reshiram's own fur, believing that Ash would use it to hunt them down.
  • Painting the Medium: ALWAYS balances HIS text BETWEEN big AND small

mordantConcept [MC] (Reshiram)

basically a living lie detector, if you tell a direct untruth in chat and he’s there he’s morally obligated to call you out on it. really annoying.

milestoneTwister [MT] (Tornadus)

unique. see previous comment about thundurus. these two are brothers and they really like picking on humans.

octetMelody [OM] (Meloetta)

unique. positive: she sings all the time and it’s really nice! negative: she sings *all the time*.

swordBravo [SB] (Cobalion)

unique. leader of an unovan group called the swords of justice, who go around saving pokémon in need. great stuff but the guy himself is insufferable.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Sort of. He admits that Ash is impressive for a new trainer, and that a few of his fights are worth showing to Keldeo as examples to learn from, he just doesn't want Ash's adventures distracting from actual important lessons.
  • The Killjoy: Is dead-set on making sure Keldeo does not interact with Ash or see the Ash thread; nothing personal to Ash, it that he sees this as a distraction from Keldeo's training. One time, he lost mod privileges over banning Virizion from the Ash thread, because her being distracted was setting a bad example for Keldeo. After he banned Keldeo.
  • Sink or Swim Mentor: Dude seems to regularly train Keldeo from sun up to past midnight... Though he's just as active.

scimitarGamma [SG] (Virizion)

unique. another sword of justice (see the theme naming?) except much more personable. if cobalion is the face she’s the voice.
  • Hidden Depths: Shows an interest in baseball, even teams outside Unova.
  • My Beloved Smother: Downplayed; she pays close attention to Ash caring for Pokémon like Charmander or Lapras who need the extra care, but has to be told off to let them take their own steps forward afterwards. For example, she is insistent that Ash forfeit against Drake when he's only left with Lapras, only for Lapras's teammates Marshadow and Articuno pass on a rebuke to get her to back off.
  • Team Mom: The only one on the Swords of Justice who isn't afraid to overrule Cobalion if he's neglecting his health. Also spends most of her time on the thread focusing on Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard and caring about his issues due to Cross's abandonment, and generally tries to stop Cobalion from being a wet blanket.

surgingOxbow [SO] (Keldeo)

unique… um… yeah. unique *now*. the swords of justice are going to start training him soon.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Cobalion refuses to let him view the Ash threads so as to not distract him from his training. That doesn't stop Virizion from finding ways, though.
  • Training from Hell: Cobalion's training sessions in a nutshell. Even in the middle of the night.
    OG: Isn’t it like
OG: The middle of the night in Unova
    DN: Yes.
DN: Time zone conversion for the Home Regions to Unova is -13 hours.
OG: I agree with Koko then
    OG: You ass, Cobalion

sabreTango [ST] (Terrakion)

unique. sword of justice #3, the muscle. more friendly than cobalion but not as savvy as virizion.
  • Cool Uncle: Has this attitude towards Keldeo. Sometimes joins Virizion in getting Cobalion to lighten up on their charge.

thousandSiroccos [TS] (Landorus)

unique. remember tornadus and thundurus? this guy is the guy who’s supposed to stop them from misbehaving and fixing all of their problems, kind of like rayquaza is to groudon and kyogre.

winCondition [WC] (Victini)

unique. the only words i can use to describe him i refuse to say to a 9-year-old.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: His entire attitude, especially when it concerns winning. A few of the others have had to sit on him to keep him from interfering in Ash's journey and helping him win.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Very few of his peers have patience for his brattiness.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Don't count on him to care about anything but victory.
  • Painting the Medium: the only letter he eVer cares about enough to capitalize is V for Victory

     Kalos Legendaries

barkNecessarily [BN] (Xerneas)

unique. it’s okay if you don’t understand him because his accent is extremely strong (and by extremely strong, i mean extremely xtrong). he’s a nice guy for the most part but don’t talk to him about rock and steel types.

necroticBlame [NB] (Yveltal)

unique. if you thought xerneas’s accent was strong yveltal is almost unyntellygyble. if you meet her she’ll try to be careful but she just kills things by accident a lot of the time.
  • Painting the Medium: Her accent ys complycated to descrybe and yt gyves everyone headaches when they try to work out what yt ys.
  • The Quiet One: While more talkative than others, Yveltal only really speaks in scenes she shares with Xerneas.

neverNadir [NN] (Zygarde)

unique. chief party pooper who takes everything seriously. try to involve him in anything fun and he’ll shut you down immediately.
  • God Was My Copilot: Like Ho-Oh, he helps moderate the human side of Ash's chat.
  • Painting the Medium: zZz Prefixes his text with Zs zZz
  • Nature Hero: As the Legendary of balance, he usually has the most to say whenever the subject of people encroaching on Pokemon territory, such as the Diglett stopping construction of a dam, come up.

oddityOdyssey [OO] (Hoopa)

unique. he’s usually bouncy and annoying, just like me with less of the charm, but he’s been really subdued lately. dunno why.
  • Dizzy Cam: Not by their own fault, but whenever it happens... Hoopa throws up.
  • In-Universe Camera: When Giratina or the Lake Trio aren't available with Reverse World perspectives, the other option is a Hooparing.

onshoreSteamer [OS] (Volcanion)

unique. i’ve never spoken to this guy. apparently he doesn’t really speak to anyone else either. everyone just holds both sides of the conversation for some reason.
  • The Quiet One: The one time he had a conversation with Magearna, she was effectively talking for both of them and he was just agreeing with what she said.

unyieldingNucleus [UN] (Diancie)

unique. she’s kind of… hoity? is that a word? she’s kind of like a younger, female version of calyrex, except kalos doesn’t actually have a throne. she’s more willing to make exceptions though.
  • Alpha Bitch: Downplayed. She isn't as insufferable as Calyrex, but most of her moments are pretty bratty. The first time she interacted with Ash's journey was during Princess Day, and she was trying to cajole him into entering a girls-only competition Disguised in Drag because the prize was a doll of her. Needless to say, she and Latias don't like each other.

     Alola Legendaries

mechaMarvel [MM] (Magearna)

unique. actually a human-made pokémon. subdued a lot of the time but if you motivate her she *goes*. and usually attacks you. i think she kinda hates me for saying ‘that grinds my gears’ around her a lot.
  • Morality Pet: To Volcanion. She's the only one he'll ever say a word around, and if he's talking to anyone else, he won't bother to be polite.
  • Painting the Medium: Magearna *surrounds her text with little gears*.*

moietySatellite [MS] (Lunala)

unique. she’s one of those paradoxes that seem really sweet and stuff but try to play with them and they turn into a nightmare. she likes roleplaying but nobody can keep up with her when she does it.

monarchUkulele [MU] (Tapu Lele)

unique. island guardian from alola. nice, but not that quick on the uptake. gets confused a lot. has to spend most of her time clearing up after the rest of the tapu.
  • The Ditz: Often loses track of the current situation and has to ask everyone else what is going on.
  • Only Sane Man: Considers herself this compared to her lazy and/or insufferable brothers and sleepyhead sister.
  • The Watson: Her ditziness puts her into this role, as in chat, she often asks questions to get caught back up to speed.

sevenStar [SS] Marshadow.

unique. don’t know anything about this guy, he always vanishes when i try to talk to him.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Marshadow's attempt to purify the Rainbow Wing in the Rainbow Hero Arc causes him to go crazy.
  • Defrosting the Ice Queen: While initially distant, he comes to value Ash and his Pokémon's friendship, to the point that he is the first Legendary/Mythical that Ash captures.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: He takes a long time to forgive himself for the events of the Rainbow Hero Arc, even if it really wasn't his fault.
  • The Sacred Darkness: Ghost Type, who's main job is to purify the Rainbow Wing, if it becomes corrupted during the Rainbow Hero's Quest.

solarMaverick [SM] (Solgaleo)

unique. he defuses arguments a lot, which is no fun. if you let him he’ll be all up in your personal business so i just don’t talk to him.
  • Riddling Sphinx: Gets a scene to help Ash find the Cinnabar Gym, reasoning that:
Kinrah in authors note: "Solgaleo is pretty much the closest legendary there is to being a sphinx, right?"
  • Third-Party Peacekeeper: Is known to mediate and defuse a lot of arguments and disagreements.

stockadeUpheaval [SU] (Tapu Bulu)

unique. another island guardian, somehow even lazier than raikou. don’t let his talking deceive you, he talks people into doing things that he’s too lazy to do.
  • The Gods Must Be Lazy: Is always talking about how he has no work to do, despite Tapu Lele's statements to the contrary.

tempestsUproar [TU] (Zeraora)

probably not unique, we don’t know, because he won’t speak to any of us.
  • Fantastic Racism: Against humans. Though to be fair, having your former home burned down and nearly being killed by them is a justifiable reason.
  • The Quiet One: Doesn't care about Ash or other Legendaries, and thus doesn't use the chat much.
  • Theme Twin Naming: Usually doesn't care for it, but is enraged that if he did care, his "handle pair" would be shared with a human. Specifically, Ash.

upriverMarlin [UM] (Tapu Fini)

unique, island guardian #3. sleeps most of the time, and otherwise, eh, she’s kind of a wet blanket. she doesn’t get excited about anything.

unabatedStimulus [US] (Tapu Koko)

unique, island guardian #4, unequivocally the second most fun pokémon on this list (behind yours truly). he’s not afraid to throw seriousness out of the window.
  • Pulled from Your Day Off: Koko was on vacation in Kanto when Mew decides to attack Team Rocket's operation in Saffron.
  • Pungeon Master: unabatedStimulus (Tapu Koko) is pretty much this, much to the chagrin of most of the Legendaries. It usually results in him getting kicked from the server for a few moments.

    Galarian Legendaries

Tropes applying to all of them:

codeOscillation [CO] (Regidrago)

unique. all of the regis talk weird but regigigas quit building drago halfway through so he/she/it/thing breaks down all the time.

disavowedNegotiation [DN2] (Tethera, Galarian Moltres)

she’s actually a galarian form moltres which is still a moltres but she’s got a nickname so we don’t get them confused. if she compliments you it’s probably a disguised insult.
  • Never My Fault: She sent Moltres a not-apology for Yan's plan that nearly destroyed the world's ecosystems. Never mind that she knew and didn't warn anyone.

downUndertaker [DU] (Spectrier)

unique. technically only half a pokémon since yveltal accidentally killed half of him, glastrier is the other half. extremely australian, mate.
  • Sapient Steed: Like Glastrier, he's one of Calyrex's mounts, and he's fully capable of speech like all other legendaries in the fic.
  • Servile Snarker: He can get quite passive-aggressive when enunciating Calyrex's long list of titles.

monkeyBusiness [MB] (Zarude)

very zarude. she sort of quietly hates everyone including everybody she hasn’t met.

mistyGreensward [MG] (Calyrex)

unique. calyrex would be fun except his memory’s like cheese and the only thing he can remember most of the time is that he has a grudge against basically everybody, even if he made it up at some point. he thinks he’s king of galar though and expects everybody to serve him.
  • The Caligula: Believes himself to be royalty, constantly orders around everyone else, claims to know everything, but can't even remember which of his steeds is which. As such, none of the other Legendaries have any patience for his blabbering. We see him in action in one episode, it ends with every other Galarian legendary kicked out, including the chat's Porygon.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: The moment he gets mod privileges, anything is a good enough excuse to get banned, even just being a bystander and not saying anything.
  • Insufferable Genius: Has the ability of Prescience. Does not know how to not talk about what is going to happen. Worse, he has mod privileges.
  • The Proud Elite: Was, or at least believes himself to have been, the king of Galar like 1000 years ago. Has an ego to match.
  • Painting the Medium: |} He prefaces his text with little crowns.

overClocker [OC] (Regieleki)

unique. regi #5, it quotes from wikipedia a lot.

ominousGaze [OG2] (Yan, Galarian Articuno)

same deal as tethera. she won’t even bother disguising it though, she’s really really *really* mean.
  • Apocalypse How: Tried to start a fight on top of a climate nexus. Had it continued, the entire planet's ecosystem could have been severly damaged.
  • Evil Is Petty: Nearly sets off a climate disaster in the Orange Islands... Because Articuno and the other Kanto Birds were watching Ash's Indigo League Tournament and she just wants to ruin their fun.
  • It's All About Me: She really doesn't care about anyone or the consequences of her actions, as long as she gets a laugh out of them.

sleuthWolf [SW] (Zacian)

unique. sword doggo, probably the sanest legendary in galar, which doesn’t amount to much.

turboTrample [TT2] (Tyan , Galarian Zapdos)

just as mean as his siblings. they’re not actually related to the kanto birds even if they say they are.
  • It Amused Me: Will stick around to heckle Zapdos... Otherwise will generally avoid the rest of the chat.
  • Never My Fault: His first appearance in Adrift is to not-apologize for Yan nearly destroying the ecosystem.

usuriousDrubbing [UD] (Glastrier)

unique. the other half of spectrier as mentioned above. he claims he was brought up in a gang but can’t prove it.
  • Sapient Steed: Just like Glastrier, he's one of the Legendaries that participate in the chat.

welshStaccato [WS] (Zamazenta)

unique. shield doggo, very easily distracted. tell him there’s a skwovet about and he’ll go hunting it for hours.

    Paldean Legendaries
  • Alternate Universe: They come from one; according to Dialga, Cyclizar never looked like Koraidon and will never look like Miraidon in this universe.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Koraidon supposedly comes from the distant past, and Miraidon supposedly comes from the distant future. According to Dialga, however they come from the past and future of an Alternate Universe.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Obvious matching colors aside, Koraidon is the more excited of the duo compared to the more focused Miraidon.
  • Walking Spoiler

nativeOriginal [NO] (Koraidon)

opticNavigator [ON] (Miraidon)

  • Everything Is Online: Much to their frustration, several of the softwares they use don't work in this universe from lack of compatible satellite uplink. Most annoyingly, this includes their translation program.
  • Pronoun Trouble: Miraidon is nonbinary, but accepts either "she" or "they" as pronouns to refer to them.

Side Characters

     Other trainers

Ethan

  • Hero of Another Story: He crosses paths with Ash fairly often, but he has his own Pokémon journey to go on. He normally appears when his rival Geoff(?) and his stolen Totodile make an appearance.

Kris

  • Expy Coexistence: Lyra was created to replace Kris in Heart Gold and Soul Silver. Kris and Lyra coexist here.

Lyra

  • Butt-Monkey: She was supposed to get Totodile from Professor Elm (with Ethan getting Cyndaquill and Kris getting Chikorita), but it was stolen by Team Rocket. Silver then stole the Totodile from Team Rocket, but decided to keep it for himself. Ethan tried to stop him and retrieve Totodile, but lost. Worse, the Legendaries aren't allowed to interfere unless Entei or Suicune catch Silver abusing the Totodile.
  • Distaff Counterpart: To Ash in a sense; neither of them got a normal starter, though in Lyra's case it's because one of the starters was stolen by Team Rocket, and then by Silver. Her starter turns out to be Marill (as a nod to how she has one in the games as an NPC). Tapu Koko even calls her "Ash 2.0", though as Moltres and Ash point out, it's not necessarily the case since Marill still fits the type Lyra wanted, unlike Pikachu who isn't a typical type for a Starter, and Lyra doesn't want to challenge the Pokémon League. (Commenters do, however, reference the meme of calling Marill "Pikablu".)

     Rivals

Cross

  • Abusive Parents: Or rather Abusive Trainer. He is the original trainer of Ash's Charizard whom he abandoned and then replaced for being too weak.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Cross's reaction after being defeated by Ash in the Trial of the Rainbow Hero Arc. His response is to grab the Rainbow Wing from Ash and demand that Ho-Oh face him, and it all goes downhill from there.

Gary

Grandson of Professor Oak and Ash's first rival.

Chase

A Pallet Town trainer that set off at about the same time as Ash and Gary.

Elaine

A Pallet Town trainer that set off at about the same time as Ash and Gary.
  • The Alleged Computer: She doesn't join Ash's chatrooms because her phone is too old and glitchy to support the software.
  • Composite Character: The female protagonist of the Let's Go games ends up filling the role of the unseen Bulbasaur trainer that left Pallet Town on the same day as Ash and Gary did.
  • Friendly Rivalry: Has this sort of rivalry with Ash as compared to Gary. She even managed to knock Ash out of the Indigo League.

Silver/Geoff/Jeff

Ethan's rival, who stole the Totodile that would've been Lyra's starter for himself.

Villains

     Team Rocket Trio

In General

  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Team Rocket's disguises in a nutshell. However, they still prove to be surprisingly effective, as even Marshadow is fooled for a few seconds.
  • The Thing That Would Not Leave: They will not be stopped from trying to steal Pikachu, much to the ire of quite literally everyone that knows about them. Except Azelf, who appreciates their willpower.
  • The Unreveal: Nobody knows how they land after blasting off into the sky, and not even divine intervention has been able to figure that out.
