Mention a random quirk about your character

I'm gonna try to include three characters per post from now on, and there can't be the same character two posts in a row... in this case, I can't say anything about Phoebe, Lupin, or Nemaforte yet. So...

Ari loves to play an RPG called Airedge, and spends a lot of online time in a similar video game called Dots. She also really enjoys a series of Bullet Hell games called Saihou, and an old futuristic platforming shooter called Metrobrain. Bland Name Products ahoy.

Merlin appears in three of my stories. In the first, he lives in a virtual world and owns three Mons. In the second, he studies parapsychology and can see auras. In the third, he's the only mortal member of a group of vampires which happen to all be female.

Cormack is an aggressive blond elf, is (reluctantly) given a sword and shield after receiving the Call to Adventure, owns a Grappling-Hook Pistol and a bomb launcher, keeps a pet sprite, and helps save a woman from an evil sorcerer. So basically he's an Expy of Link.

I'll likely never get beyond the 'daydreaming' stage of a long-form, web-serial-novel-esque project involving these people, but they are likely the most consistent characters in anything I've ever done SO HELL.

Andrew dislikes having to eat and rather hopes he can find a replacement for his digestive tract somewhere, though finds the prospect of it installing correctly unlikely. Still, he remains hopeful. Or as hopeful as he can claim to feel.

Toby counts to ten every morning when he wakes up and before he opens his eyes in the hope that when he does he's back home. He never is, and the wrench in the gut he feels on seeing this is lessening by the day. This worries him.

Mar is used to trees attempting to murder her and everyone she knows about, so finds her current location in the middle of a sprawling forest utterly terrifying, but she will never ever ever let anyone know this.

Rip Van Reuyman developed his techniques for the prolonging of life and for the solo-creation of offspring while a fire-alarm trapped him and his chemistry class in their classroom for several weeks. While his peers were driven mad by the incessant bell he made good use of the time and the equipment.

I recently found out in Takotsubo that in high school, Roland Fujii spent three hundred days trying to make Cord Cai smile. He refuses to say "a year" because their friends in the Rust Sinners gang said that making Cord smile was impossible.

Originally I was going to make it the opposite and have Roland instantly make Cord happier, but Roland went "fuck that shit, it's too easy."

On one hand, I can hear the Fanfic Fuel once the play gets produced, but no wonder Cord gave up and started a gang after Roland died.

Yes, this is my third post in this thread. I think I might be addicted to it, and having lots of characters doesn't exactly help. This time I'll go for three characters from the same story:

Lucina never goes anywhere without the company of the former mayor of the town that is now her kingdom, who she turned into a doll. She usually has another doll attendant accompanying her as well. (And yes, she is the Big Bad of the story.)

Sinistrina, who spends most of the story trapped in a Death World, frequently brews a stew made out of poisonous mushrooms and random bits of dead flesh. Since she's undead, it helps her not only to keep her body relatively normal-looking, but makes her Blood Magic more potent. (And she's the Big Good of the story, oddly enough.)

Carlotta was given the surname Posset, and that ended up becoming her favourite food. (It's a creamy pudding-like dessert.) How she can eat it is anyone's guess, since she's a doll. (And she's one of The Heroes of the story.)

Despite being a star-based deity, Lumina is actually afraid of the dark. The reason why she constantly gives out mild sunlight from her body is so that she won't be trapped in darkness. She also uses "Good Morning" and "Good Afternoon" even during dusk and night, because she gives out sunlight and thinks of herself as a sun.

"Rayzer" is extremely secretive and has lots of underlying motivations and goals. He's also too busy at his job as a soldier/space marine to get into a relationship.

Relit: Is really awkward in social situations. Has learned the basics for all three forms of magic: Arcane, or external magic, "Ki" (not quite set on a name), or internal magic, and Enchantments. However, he's not particularly good with any of them. The combination of all three and his fighting style are the only things that make him effective.

Ren: Wields a bronze sabre with a cherry-wood hilt. She is eventually known as the "Cherry Swordsman." She initiated a friendship with with resident Boisterous Bruiser Ladies-Man by throwing him, violently, through a wall. Really good at "Ki" magic.

Morgan: Has to torture people to death on occasion to keep his blood from cooking him alive from the inside. Really good at Arcane magic.

Night Star once nearly drowned when he was four so he has the habit of tapping his foot on bridges to make sure they're solid and tires to avoid ANY form of water transport.

Valshae gets himself pumped for heroism by listening to power metal. Sometimes he attempts to sing along, much to the chagrin of his friends.

Soriah has a mortal fear of public speaking and will do anything to avoid having to talk in front of a crowd.

My addiction to this thread is becoming worse.

Emille really likes earl grey tea, but is very particular about how she likes it - namely, it must be brewed from exactly a teaspoon-and-a-half of leaves in 100mL of boiling water, for three and a half minutes, no more, no less. If it's prepared improperly, she will throw the teapot and/or cup at the wall. How she can tell the difference is anyone's guess, and how she can drink it is even more of a guess, as she's a porcelain doll.

Ashleigh is a devout Catholic, but somehow can't help relating to bits of supernatural mythology, particularly anything having to do with the Fair Folk. So naturally, she ends up as a Love Interest for a devout Wiccan.

Nim is an eleven-year-old girl who really wants to pole dance in a strip club and seduce men. She mainly does this in an attempt to emulate her mother, who is a succubus - but also because she herself is a vampire, so that she has a method of luring in victims. She even has a particular penchant for attracting pedophiles.

Jin: Likes saying "Okay, I got this" every time he is nervous about doing something and when he actually has the swing of things. Calls Ken "Mr Fluffy" and likens him to a rabbit a lot. He likes using Ken as a pillow, and often tells him that "There's no fluffier pillow in the world, Mr Fluffy. Aren't you glad that you're a good pillow?" Also closes his eyes, curls up his fists, and says "Okay, Okay, okay" when he is nervous. Loves treats with green tea in them. He also people watches from time to time.

Ken: Chews soft food like how a rabbit would, and whenever he sees a sad play or reads a story with a downer or bittersweet ending, he often writes his own happy ending and shows it to his family. When he has nightmares, he imagines characters from his favorite books living happily in their new life. Draws pictures of him and his family being happy.

Jun: carries two stuffed dolls he made of his sons. Loves making desserts for his kids, and often skips out on having any sugar himself to make them. He is wonderful at making stuffed toys and often creates a "heart" for them that is wrapped in paper that says "I love you".

Quentin Heckler: Doesn't tell anyone his name due to him being hunted down for it once. Already killed due to it.

Ernst Schneider: Wears a cup. A soup cup to be exact, which he has filled with C4. Yes, there is a bomb on his head.

Jacob carries a little red yarn doll Yves gave him everywhere he goes. The doll's name is Bob. He started carrying it around just as a gag ("Don't go out alone, it's dangerous." "I won't be alone! Uhh...Bob'll protect me! Never been safer in my life!") but by now it's turned into an actual Thing. ("Going out?" "Yeah." "Got Bob?" "Yeah.")

Khati is a closeted alcoholic (and in denial about it)

Kai owns a guitar and, although he can't play very well, has always wished he could and still practices in his spare time.

Roshni Shirazi carries her lucky D20 everywhere she goes. Its great age, her nervous habit of using it as a worry stone, and the misadventures it has survived have left it severely worn, preventing her from using it for its intended purpose. Specifically, several of the faces are barely readable, and the die is significantly off-balance. The imbalance does favor the 20, but Roshni is unsure whether this is an odd coincidence or the reason it became her "lucky D20" in the first place.

So I only said I can't mention the same character two posts in a row... In that case, I'm writing said story I mentioned two posts ago right now, but this time I'll mention a random quirk about all the major characters in there - so five, not three.

Lucina acts like a Large Ham a lot of the time... so naturally, ham is her favorite food. However, for some reason, she's never seen eating it at any point in the story- so this is only lampshaded as a Running Gag.

Sinistrina really loves spiders. Not only will she protest (or hex) anyone who kills one, but she will raise the spider from the dead and keep it as a pet. Throughout her childhood, these undead spiders were just about her only friends.

Emille does not like being picked up, or held, or touched in the slightest - at least by humans. Which is absurd because she's a doll. She won't even let her servants help dress her - which is absurd since she's a princess as well.

Carlotta is a broken doll held together by Blood Magic and born in a Death World... and yet, she freaks out at the sight of blood, voices opposition to anything dark or creepy, and spends as little time in said death world as possible. She acts as if she was never broken at all.

Friedrich claims to have no emotions, since he's even more broken than Carlotta. And yet, he instantly falls in love with her, and even feels animosity towards the other doll pining over her. So much for being emotionless.

I have two semi-interesting characters for this thread.

Tim is very sarcastic, and he does not know when to stop. He has taunted and snarked at a serial killer who caught him once.

His girlfriend, Vera, is very masochistic. She has mistaken a torturre chamber for a swinger's club.

Nakhta likes to hide in her enormous family castle, and since she was young she's managed to find out all the secret passages that have been built over the centuries. Sometimes she hangs around in there to listen in on people or avoid an annoying meeting (immature as she still somewhat is), but sometimes just for the pleasure of being able to see and not be seen.

Night Star's anger is, 99% of the time, Tranquil Fury. He gets angry, it's just mostly comes out as a colder tone and way of speaking and increased snippiness and snarkiness.

Being angry and losing control are two different things to him. If he actually SHOWS a anger that is not tempered by a chilly attitude or sharp words, congratulations! Shit's happened!

Mr and Miss Fairwell are huge oddities in existence... or should I say, nonexistence. Their condition causes them to return to nonexistence every now and then (they can control it, but sometimes it's random), completely retconning away any actions or events they have done, as if they never existed. They're even removed from the memories of those who "interacted" with them.

This is known as a "reset". After that, they usually don't even remember what happened either. Thanks to this they're also pretty impossible to permanently put down, killing them automatically triggers a "reset". They're also immune to being erased from the time-space continuum/reality since that is pretty much what they do to themselves every so often, and also because they don't "exist" anywhere on the time/space/alternate reality continuum.

Other weird things:

• Mr Fairwell is a Supreme Chef while Miss Fairwell is a Lethal Chef /Cordon Bleugh Chef
• Miss Fairwell is an excellent driver. Mr Fairwell... not so much.
• Both have a rather "standard" greeting when first meeting someone (or "meeting" them again). "Good day. You can call me Mr/Miss Fairwell."
• There is a somewhat mundane way to gain a Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory and "remember" Mr/Miss Fairwell even after they "reset"... you need to be holding a flower from the Forget-Me-Not plant.

Arte is an animated block of stone, brought to life by his very first master Felicity to...move a fallen tree off the road. The first thing he ever heard was "I've made you as my servant. Can you help me?" These facts aren't major contributors to Arte's current issues with blind obedience and complete dismissal of his own needs, noooo.

Manon flirts near constantly, but she never actually goes home with anyone, out of loyalty to her dead husband.

Not that animals have their own language that we can't understand. He thinks that animals can speak like people can speak. You know, English and stuff.

They don't do it in front of other people because they don't want people to hear their conversations. Privacy, you know.

Audrey has a soda addiction, and goes crazy, or at least very hyper, when she drinks the stuff. She's sixteen.

Eve is afraid of heights, but refuses to admit it. She was once told, after having a panic attack in public, that it probably would have been less embarrassing for her if she had just warned the group taking her that she had the phobia so they could make accommodations if necessary. She continues to deny this, saying it wouldn't have been appropriate.

Agnes is normally a very composed and polite lady who is about as soft and pure as you can get, but when under stress so high that her composure breaks she'll most likely be laughing like a lunatic.

Ivan is ambidextrous, which makes it easy for him to use two guns at once.

Anton is quite the multitalented crime boss. He's a mad genius tactician, an experienced arsonist, a custom weapons manufacturer, an enthusiastic pyrotechnician... and a damn fine cook.

Red Tail is known by the public and her colleagues as a determined and merciless general of an Anarchist terror group with a huge list of casualties to her name, but something she hides from everyone is the fact that she has a blessed set of vocal chords. She's a great singer, and she can perfectly imitate the speaking voices of most other women (which is something she unconsciously demonstrates at times when berating her subordinates).

Glen has an insanely powerful mental calculator. He can do math problems in his head in a few seconds that 99.9% of people would need paper or a calculator for.

How does Ivan reload his guns?
