• Breather Boss: Dis-3 was intended to be easier after the long first and second trials.

• Cargo Ship: Due to some Persona 3 ending spoilers, in the Round 3 endgame where Allie and Tsukiyama discover that Monaka was going to hunt down their loved ones, OOC jokes are made that Ryouji's assassin card just showed... a door.
• Cry for the Devil: Kirei in Round 2. His entire life was spent only feeling joy in others' misery, and he was very aware of how inhuman that was. Driven home hard with some of his last words to Schuldig:

  Kirei: Such kindness shouldn't be wasted on the defective.

  • Also a major theme of Round 3 as a whole, especially with the Mastermind, who was simultaneously a completely terrible person and a lonely abused child.
• Even Better Sequel: Round 1 was a surprising success and Round 2 improved on everything, with more characters, a new plot, and new gameplay elements like Laser-Guided Amnesia and the Monomono Machine along with heavy references to the first round and canon games.

  • Adachi: "Trash Prince" seems to have caught on with a lot of people, even the mods.

  • Pooh and Gaston: Team Redshirt Herrings ^Explanation Both actually wear red shirts and they got wrongly accused often enough in the early trials (either separately or together) that Pooh's immediate reflex every trial is to prove that neither he nor Gaston did anything.
  • Kayneth: SHSL Walnut (see Memetic Mutation)
  • Kureha: Curry ^Explanation Dave's IC nickname for her that caught on enough to be used by players and IC narration in reference to her.
  • Dave: Sad Roomba ^Explanation After Case 5, Dave was so out of it that he was referred to this OOCly. Like a roomba, he picks things up, runs into walls, runs into people...
  • Ryuunosuke, Allie, and Silver: The Ginger Disaster Squad
    • Ryuunosuke himself: The Earl of Buttonmash

  • Team Nick and Team CN are called "Team Trainwreck" and "Team Marshmallow." The post-merger team is "Team S'mores."
• Genre Turning Point: We have this game to thank for all those short-term, small-cast mystery games.
• Harsher in Hindsight: You know that happy ending from the first round, where everything is hopeful and nothing is ruined? The feedback sent in afterwards may have been right that it was a little too happy for the canon DR spirit and its bittersweet endings and permadeath. But thanks to the ending of Round 2, it's harder to see it as such now. Let's just say that happy endings are a zero-sum game here. That is, giving an Everybody Lives ending to a series like Danganronpa directly resulted in an installment of a beloved, optimistic, child-friendly series swapping its neat happy ending out for an "Everybody Dies" Ending.
  • Ironically, It actually happened in canon.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: In Round 2, when Lysandre and Sycamore are teaching Schuldig about their home world's legends, he wonders aloud more than once where he can find Xerneas so he can catch it and whether or not he can play with it. In the epilogue, the group goes Walking the Earth in search of that very legendary. Guess the first thing he does when he sees it.
  • Meta one: Futo ends up confusing Bluebeard for Blackbeard the pirate. A little over a week later, Fate/Grand Order unveils the new Servants, Blackbeard among them.
  • Kayneth tells Ryuunosuke early on that he doesnt see much of a difference between zombies and ghouls. It turns out later on that their class has one of each and the ghoul mistook the zombie for his own species for weeks.
  • The half-joking IC theory that the Round 3 hotel is actually a space station is a lot funnier after Airlocked.

• Launcher of a Thousand Ships:
  • Naveen in Disney Ronpa, who's been teased with Ariel, Anna, Bill... okay, half the cast of the game.
• Memetic Mutation:
  • Wear the protag pants!^Explanation Said whenever a character takes charge of an investigation or trial or makes something resembling a friendship speech.
    • (X) for this round's protagonist!^Explanation When supporting the idea that someone will be labelled that round's "protag". Was especially common mid-to-late Round 2, when the eventual group decision, Beat, was emerging from his original label of being that round's Mondo while other characters (specifically Sonico and Cynthia) were showing strong protagonist traits as well.
    • Growing the ahoge^Explanation When a character makes strides towards becoming the designated protagonist. This may end up with said character literally being gifted with Idiot Hair, as Beat was after his haircut.
  • Do you hear the people sing? Yes, and they're really pissed off.^Explanation In Round 1, Lysandre was the subject of many Les Misérables jokes for being a Frenchman and the resistance leader. This was the most common one.
  • Dangan Roleplay is a serious game about murder. (X) people are dead.^Explanation Usually said when something silly happens in-game, replacing (X) with the current number of deaths.
  • Spiders in a man suit.^Explanation His difficulty with emotion gave rise to the "theory" that Frank Archer is not a socially awkward military man but a large number of spiders in disguise.
  • It's Die-day, Die-day!^Explanation Murders are scheduled for Fridays.
  • Genocidal Ginger Bad End.^Explanation A projected Round 2 bad ending in which Lysandre, Fujimoto, and/or Schuldig, who at least started out as Token Evil Teammate candidates, snap and kill everyone.
    • As it turned out, that one actually sort of happened. Well. Before the round started.
    • Returned in Disney Ronpa with an "if Elsa dies, Anna snaps" scenario. Maybe Bill was onto something.
  • Ike fights for his friends. ^Explanation And they are not us.
  • Joyed the fuck out of it. (Round 2 spoilers)^Explanation Schuldig's Unusual Euphemism for when Kirei punched Inaba's ribcage in. Ended up being used in mod narration, too, multiple times, and returned in IC speech as "despaired the fuck out of it" regarding a country being basically bombed.
  • ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ﾉ GHOST RIOT ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ﾉ (Round 2 spoilers)^Explanation Refers to the ghost tags from the Graduation Exam that stuck around. The source is fitting, considering the revelation of where they were all along.
    • ／(･ × ･)＼ RABBIT RIOT ／(･ × ･)＼ (Disney Ronpa spoilers)^Explanation The players alternated between this and vanilla CRYOT when Oswald's fate in the land of the forgotten was revealed and when the dead characters tried to save him.
  • Kirei pretty much became a meme in and of himself, as Round 2's Chuck Norris. (Round 2 spoilers) ^Explanation Even the mastermind was afraid of Kirei Kotomine, and given Monobear's breakdown after Kirei's trial failed to result in a valid execution, most people generally agreed that Kirei had even managed to out-Despair Monobear.
  • "If Isabelle Dies, We Riot" became a meme before Round 3 even started. Has since escalated to threatening to riot over the death of any well-liked character.
  • Mr. Walnut/Walnut-san or "Kayneth, you absolute walnut!" ^Explanation After Kayneth made Meridiana cry during the first trial, in Tsukiyama's action tags, he called him a "tactless walnut of a person," since he doesn't know how to be sensitive. It caught on like wildfire, leading to characters oocly and even in-game narration calling him a Walnut, Walnut-san, Mr. Walnut, or various other forms of the word. Funnily enough, one who'd called him out on this most, Silver, showed similar insensitivity during the second trial, and got labeled a SHSL Seedot. Insensitive characters are, probably, bound to be labelled members of the Walnut family now.
  • Haruka's dead harem. ^Explanation Viewers and fellow muns had a tendency, at least in the beginning, to start shipping Haruka with members of her close CR who would coincidentally end up executed the same week.
  • CW: Case 5.^Explanation Case 5 had so many content warnings in the comment headers (which wasn't helped at all by Ryuunosuke) that eventually people just started using the case name itself as a content warning.
  • Tyrone Speedwagon/"God damn it Tyrone, get your shit together!" ^Explanation A scapegoat intern member of the Future Foundation, initially invented after round 2's ending to explain just why a multiverse spanning organization would want to hire people like Kirei and Schuldig. He's since become the go-to excuse for any mess up on the Future Foundation's part (mostly for comic relief), with the above statement often being use to blame him.
  • SHSL Therapist ^Explanation A member of the Future Foundation invented in a similar fashion to Tyrone, when players began wondering how the Future Foundation managed to handle murder game survivors' recovery. He's generally characterized as being massively overworked and deserving of a gigantic raise.
• Moe: Homura to the nth degree.
• Nausea Fuel: Round 1 has a good example. That's what happens when you live on a tropical island and leave a dismembered corpse in a locked room for days.
  • Round 3 has anything involving Wario. Bathing in gravy and not washing it off until he was bribed days later has to be up there.
• Older Than They Think: Gaston's Punny Name in Disney Ronpa? Much of the game credited the mod team for coming up with it, but that's actually canon!
• One-Scene Wonder: Maurice the crab during the Round 1, Week 5, Case 4 trial. He sadly doesn't show up again after that but Jimmy set-up a lovely aquarium for him in his cottage, since he destroyed his house looking for evidence.
• One True Threesome: Ariel/Naveen/Gaston in Disney Ronpa reminds a lot of people of Tres Leches.
• Spoil at Your Own Risk: This is actually written in the game rules. If you're rolled to die or kill, if you're tampering with a crime scene, if you're the mole, if you're the Mastermind, if you know any future plot details whatsoever, you're not allowed to tell the public until it comes to light in-game. It's even a game policy to hide your application until the round's done.
• Spot the Victim: Death guesses go around every week, usually anonymously.
• Self-Imposed Challenge: There's a guide to finding all the Disney Ronpa characters at the Disney Theme Parks (as of endgame, March 2015). It requires at least two trips, one to Florida and one to California^* Iridessa has been retired from WDW, Oswald only appears in DCA, and Gaston does not appear in Disneyland, with at least one taking place in September or October^** Maleficent can only be found during the Halloween season and Jack only during Halloween or Christmas, and also includes locations from the game.
