WMG / Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2023)

Go To

Beware of unmarked spoilers from the Percy Jackson Books, Films and TV Series!

The stories will be edited as to better foreshadow later elements
For example taking cues from the musical and having Nico or Bianca show up at the Lotus Hotel. This can extend to other directions as well, like having Annabeth mention her Boston relatives or have Amos Kane cameo in New York City scenes.
  • Somewhat confirmed! Rick has stated that there will be peeks at character backstory, foreshadowing Easter eggs of things to come, and nuances in Percy’s family history, among other things. Not to mention that Hermes and Hephaestus are set to show up in person during the events of The Lightning Thief, which Season 1 covers.

Percy will start to physically resemble his father as the series progresses
Based on this tumblr post: https://at.tumblr.com/puterboy1/my-feelings-exactly/5wve5rl78c4v
  • Well, it helps that according to Rick's final Season 1 casting announcement, Poseidon will be played by Toby Stephens, and Walker Scobell's hair has started to darken.

Grover will not refer to Nemesis as potentially Percy's father
That somewhat notorious flub will either not be said at all, or will be edited to reflect the Homosexual Reproduction angle that Apollo established in the later series.
  • Confirmed... in a sense, since that entire conversation doesn't happen in the show. There is a potential nod to the flub, though, when Percy snarkily asks if there's a Greek God of failure that's missing a kid, and Chris responds that there is, but she's a goddess.

Books in the Rick Riordan Presents line will canon immigrant into the series
For a couple of example the time in New Mexico in the Titans Curse will show 'The Beast' volcano from Storm Runner where Ah Puch is locked up or during the time in Miami during The Sea of Monsters references are made to calamitrons or the works of Gustavo Vidon. They may even be combined, for example Annabeth may mention both Dr. (Julius) Kane and (Krithika P.) Shah when talking about researchers into mythology.

The Battle of Manhattan will be expanded into a mythological version of The Avengers (2012) Battle of Manhattan
Additional characters will be drawn into it to make it an even more chaotic and awesome affair, particularly if the series establishes the spinoff and later series earlier (for example the Demigods being joined by the 21st Nome or the Valkyries of Valhalla) or canonizes the Rick Riordan Presents characters and has them be present.

Sally killing Gabe with the Medusa Head will be altered a la the film
That scene has gotten more criticism in recent years and Rick may choose to alter it as to reflect it.
  • Rick did mention that the film version of Gabe's demise is the one thing he actually liked about it, maybe they'll do that again.
  • Confirmed. The Stinger shows Gabe, after being divorced by Sally, trying to enter his former apartment, only to learn that Sally had changed the locks. Then, he finds the box containing Medusa's head and opens it, managing to say "That's gross!" as he's being turned to stone.

The Gods will be played by multiple actors to set up their ability to change appearances
For example 'Teen Apollo' and 'Fred the Hobo'.
  • If not in Season 1, they will likely have to do this anyway for any future appearances of Zeus, since his original actor Lance Reddick passed away after Season 1 filming ended.

The series will be used to set up spin off series
Beyond the canonical examples in the Kane Chronicles and Magnus Chase if the Rick Riordan Presents titles are also usable we'd see the series set up a 'Storm Runner' series or a 'Pandava Quartet' series.
  • Likely Jossed for the Kane Chronicles, as Netflix still hold the adaption rights for the series.
    • Now it might be more likely, as the Netflix series was cancelled.

The series will have Stingers at the end of each season
The obvious stinger being that of the Romans and the Battle of Mt. Othrys as a stinger for a Last Olympian season going into The Lost Hero. Some stingers for the (presumably) five seasons of the original series including Polyphemus with the Golden Fleece or Luke receiving the Princess Andromeda, an early preview of Bianca and Nico, Nico meeting Midas, and some Kronos action.
  • The Season 1 stinger could either be the scene of Grover in the Florida Bridal Store from The Sea of Monsters. Or Percy meeting the new student at his Junior High, which is revealed to be Tyson.
  • The mid credit scene for the Season 1 Finale, has Gabe accidentally turning himself into stone from Medusa's head.

There will be Take That! jokes about the film
Something like 'the Parthenon where the Hydra was (Nashville, TN) burning down' or 'Persephone calling the idea of Hades being abusive to her absolutely stupid'.

Coach Hedge will have an Adaptational Early Appearance
He'll be a recurring satyr who coaches the Ares cabin and will be seen comforting Clarisse after Chris's return to Camp Half-Blood. In the final episode of the Last Olympian series, he'll complain about being re-assigned to a reform school in Nevada after Percy's deal with the gods.
  • Hedge actually does appear somewhat in Last Olympian; Grover recieves a report from him early in the book.

The Kane Chronicles stuff won't appear in the series until the Netflix movies are finished
Bar a contract allowance for multiple Kane adaptions or something.
  • Since then the Kane Chronicles rights Netflix had expired, meaning that they could appear earlier if Disney picks up the rights to expand on a hit, or otherwise continue to delay if another company buys the rights up.

We'll see references to the Magnus Chase series before the Kane Chronicles
The Kane Chronicles were older and out longer to have rights obtained from while the newer Magnus Chase stuff wasn't as available and Disney may have been able to lock them down first.

Bianca will have some of her characterization tweaked

To make her choice to go to the hunters more sympathetic. Maybe she doesn't until she's at camp and (thinks) Nico will be happy there, maybe she is shown to be openly stressed out of her mind trying to care about Nico, etc etc. Maybe even Nico says she can join and only later realizes he misses her.

Daughter of the Deep, which is also getting a Disney plus series, will crossover with Percy Jackson

Mr. Chase and his mortal kids will also be Race Lifted to be Black in the series.
Because Annabeth is gonna be Black in the series, and I doubt they're gonna make Athena Black to match. Besides, if Athena is Black then that means all the Athena demigods will also be Black. Even Daedalus (at least, his original body; no word on how Quintus could be affected).
  • Mr. Chase is probably going to be played by Wayne Brady.
  • Potentially Jossed; Athena is portrayed as black in the frescos that appear during the ending credits.

Athena will be Black

Alternatively, taking a page out of Supergiant's Hades book, Athena will be cast with dark skin.

Who's gonna play Zeus from Season 2 onward?
After the passing of Lance Reddick, someone's gotta play Zeus in later seasons.
  • A recast will be easy enough to justify given the gods can change their appearance at will.
  • Perhaps David Harewood? His role in Alan Wake 2 was originally meant for Reddick, and he is not lacking in charisma.
  • Chukwudi Iwuji
  • It's possible that to firmly establish the gods' changable appearances, they'll go with somebody completely different from Reddick, as opposed to casting someone similar and implying that it's supposed to be the same form In-Universe.

Silena will be race-lifted to match Clarisse
Because if she's gonna be impersonating Clarisse in The Last Olympian, the Race Lift is inevitable.
  • Alternatively, Clarisse's helmet will be changed so that it covers her whole head except for the eyes.

The show's version of the Lotus Casino will have an Early-Bird Cameo of the di Angelo siblings.
It's a common fan theory that Percy encountered Nico and Bianca at the hotel and then all of them forgot about it, and the musical hints that the girl they speak to in the casino is Bianca, so the show making it Ascended Fanon wouldn't come out of nowhere.
  • Semi-confirmed in episode 6. While Grover to talking with a satyr named Augustus, if listened closely, there's a boy [Nico] calling out for "Bianca" in the background.

The series will feature some more notable foreshadowing towards the existence of Camp Jupiter.
Perhaps even a stinger on the final episode of the fifth season showing Jason on Mount Othrys.

There will be a new scene where Luke comforts Percy over losing his mom.
This will be done to make Luke's betrayal more impactful as well as Foreshadowing towards May Castellan.
  • Confirmed; Luke's introduction in Episode 2 has him doing just that. Taken farther in episode 6 when Annabeth explains that she once met Luke's mother and how she was able to see through the Mist, but was traumatized by what she could see, giving Percy a reason to sympathize with Luke. However, it's implied that Annabeth still doesn't know the context of this, since May Castellan tried to host the Oracle, but was driven insane due to Hades' curse caused her to see Luke's Bad Future.

The Hellhound in Capture the Flag will end up attacking Annabeth rather than Percy
In a released photo of Percy about to enter Poseidon's cabin, his shirt lacks claw tears on the chest, as there's a clear tear on his sleeve where his sword cut was. Meaning Percy hadn't changed shirts after he was claimed as Poseidon's son.

It is likely the Hellhound Luke summons to endanger Percy ends up attacking Annabeth instead. The sight of Annabeth being in danger would cause Percy to instinctively expose his manifesting water powers in front of the entire camp to save her, even shouting a Big "NO!" in the process. There would be a moment of Stunned Silence as the realization of who Percy is sinks in to everyone.

  • Jossed. The hellhound doesn't even show up. Instead, after the Capture the Flag game, Annabeth shoves Percy into the lake, and his wounds instantly heal, followed by Poseidon claiming him.

There will be a Free Guy and The Adam Project reference with Percy remarking on the Master Bolt, "That's a lightsaber, dude."
In the books, the Master Bolt is a cylinder of celestial bronze, and when fully powered up, has two blades of electricity on both ends. It's literally a lightsaber.

When Percy falls from the Gateway Arch, Grover will try and save him.
The obvious plot hole from the book was, in actuality, the Gateway Arch and the Mississippi River are about 200 meters apart, so Percy would've had to have made a very large jump to land in the water. In the one shot of Percy dangling from the hole in the monument, that's not water underneath him, it's grass.

To play it out, Grover notices Percy dangling 630 feet, and would most definitely die from the fall. So, he'll try and pull off a Big Damn Hero moment by using Luke's flying shoes to save Percy, only for a Surprisingly Realistic Outcome to occur: Percy's falling velocity and added weight will cause Grover to go spiraling out of control (which is how he ends up hovering over the river), Percy is at risk of slipping Grover's grasp, and their "rough landing" will likely still be considered fatal. Percy will be aware of this and, to save Grover, he voluntarily lets go of him and ends up in the water (not knowing he'd survive, thanks to his powers), while Grover manages to regain enough altitude for a survivable landing.

  • Jossed. Percy is saved by a massive water tunnel likely conjured by his father.

Percy will end up getting actual airsickness when he's on the plane.
In the books, he mentions that he was just tense from the turbulence during his first time on a plane. He's not afraid of heights nor low flying per se, just flying high within Zeus' domain. After all, he doesn't mind flying on pegasi which he considers "neutral ground".

To add some comedy and realism in the series, the second Percy gets off the plane in New York, he rushes to the nearest trashcan and vomits from the nausea.

  • Jossed. At the end of Episode 7, the pearls have transported the trio to Montauk, where they could easily get a cab back to Manhattan.

Thalia will hint at her brother Jason much earlier, perhaps mentioning it with Luke.
It isn't until the first book in "The Heroes Of Olympus" that Thalia had the courage to mention her missing brother, something she didn't even share with Luke or Annabeth. Perhaps Luke would use that story from his friend as another reason to hate the Gods, thinking that the gods won't have issue with killing their own children.

Tyson will appear in The Stinger of Season 1.
He'll likely be The Faceless to hide The Reveal that he's a cyclops, but I really REALLY hope Tyson be played by Gaten Matarazzo (he just seems SO perfect for the role of a friendly baby cyclops). I get that it's never implied that Gaten would have time to star in the show at all, but hey, everyone likes surprises, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians would practically be similar to Stranger Things. And it'd be sweet to see Gaten and Walker portraying the Poseidon brothers in a possible season 2.
  • Another possible way to hide that he’s a cyclops is to not show him as a cyclops. Just have mortals in the scene.
  • Jossed; The Stinger is Gabe opening the package with Medusa's head and getting petrified.

Casting for Kronos
They've been suspiciously tight-lipped about who's going to play the Titan Lord himself, and the nature of the role almost certainly means whoever it is will be doing a voice acting performance for the majority of it, so it could be anyone, really.

Percy learning of Luke's betrayal will be slightly altered.
Somewhat. I would count on it being a mixture of the book and the musical. Like in the book, Luke would take Percy out to the woods on the last day of summer alone. Percy voices his concern that although he completed his quest, something still feels off, like there's a bigger conspiracy going on. Luke then goes on a sort of brotherly-like talk and suddenly says something (straight from the musical): "Some sacrifices are necessary to remake the world."

Percy freezes, remembering those words from his dream with Kronos speaking to his "servant". We see a montage of all of Percy's interactions with Luke from the latter convincing Percy to go to the Underworld, gifting him the winged shoes, and then Grover being pulled to Tartarus by the winged shoes as the Oracle's words ring in his head: "You shall be betrayed by one who calls you friend" Percy uncaps Riptide and points the tip of his sword at Luke.

"You're the Lightning Thief!"

  • Mixed. The scene is changed with Percy's poisoning being omitted and the scene being changed to the night of Percy's return to camp. Percy's realizes Luke was the true mastermind, after he reanalyses the prophecy.

Rick Riordan's Creator Cameo will be the guy at the desk of the Empire State Building.
  • Jossed. The trailer shows that guy, and he isn't played by Riordan.
    • Riordan is actually in the very first episode as a Yancy Academy staff member.

There will be at least one cameo from those involved in The Lightning Thief musical adaptation.
Considering how 1. The musical was the first adaptation of the novel that Riordan and the fandom liked, 2. Its co-creator Joe Tracz is writing two episodes of the series, and 3. A good amount of the filming takes place in New York, where the musical's actors are based, an appearance by one or more of the actors would not be hard to pull off.

Annabeth and Grover will try to train Percy during the quest.
Some of Percy's training was cut off throughout Episode 2, and Luke promptly hand waves how all demigods have ADHD and Dyslexia without explaining their purpose. I hope they'll likely remedy this by having Annabeth, who's mentioned to be the strongest warrior in camp, explain to Percy about his powers and how to properly fight with his sword.
  • Jossed.

Nico and Bianca will appear at the Lotus Casino.
It would make sense to set them up before season 3.
  • Fun in theory, trickier in practice. The show won't need actors for the di Angelo siblings for at least another two years, and the show runners don't have access to an actual magic hotel that will freeze the actors' ages. If they cast them now, they risk having them be too old for their parts by the time they get to season three (assuming Disney gives them more seasons).
  • Turns out, they got around this by giving Nico a very faint Voice-Only Cameo.

Nico's sexuality will be foreshadowed earlier
When he and Bianca arrive at Camp Half-Blood, they will encounter a same sex couple. Since they were children of the 1940s, Bianca would display Deliberate Values Dissonance and need to be explained to that times have changed. That news would give Nico a subtle look of relief on his face.

There will be a change in context for how Percy and Grover's Empathy Link will be established.
In the book, Grover mentions that he created a link between himself and Percy without his knowledge.

Maybe in the series, near the end of the season finale, someone (possibly Luke) will slip up some woodland magic onto Percy and Grover (likely dropping charms into their drinks) to link their fates. Now, in the series, it could be explained that demigods performing or using woodland magic without a licensed satyr is considered dishonorable since their knowledge of this magic is sacred and must be used reasonably. Luke, knowing a satyr hasn't came back from their quest for Pan alive, hopes that if Grover dies on his quest, Percy will die with him. Or find a certain life-giving fleece, but would be a win for him either way. This would also give Grover and Percy a reason to be angry and even more resentful to Luke.

  • Jossed for Season 1.

Procrustes will be Adapted Out.
They're basically a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment in the original book, and never featured in any adaptation prior to this (film, musical, graphic novel) so they're likely going to get cut for pacing, on top of the fact that they're one of the more obscure mythological figures Percy encounters.
  • Possibly Jossed. During an interview with Walker, Aryan, and Leah, they mentioned doing a scene with Procrustes and the water beds.
  • Definitely jossed; the Next Time On trailer for Episode 7 shows Percy walking into Crusty's.

There will be some references to their original appearances
For example Annabeth, after seeing Percy, will think how she will look like if she were blonde

There will be a Take That! towards the movies
Considering Rick Riordan is at the helm, there's no doubt he'll be unable to resist the opportunity to throw shade at it.
  • When the trio arrives at the Underworld, Percy will ask where Persephone is, only for Annabeth to point out that it's summer.

Grover thinks Clarisse is the Lightning Thief
At the end of episode 5, Grover claims he knows who the Lightning Thief is, but it is still too early to reveal it is Luke, which was only revealed in the books after the quest has ended. This means it is likely he suspects someone else. Clarisse would make sense as Grover suspects Ares knows who it is. It would also be pretty easy for them to believe she's a traitor since they already dislike her unlike Luke who they like and trust.
  • Confirmed. While Iris-Messaging Luke, he asks him to tell Chiron to arrest Clarisse to demand what she knows.

Percy will show more sympathy for Hades, who will then foreshadow the Great Prophecy
Percy would lampshade how Everybody Hates Hades and why the God of the Dead is always the prime suspect of wanting to take over the world (but at the very least will not excuse the fact that he kidnapped his mother). Instead of confronting Hades about him stealing the Master Bolt, Percy talks about his dreams to Hades and then asks why he and his brother swore to never father more demigod children. Hades will likely drop some mentions and hints of Maria di Angelo and how Zeus is willing to murder anyone out of ambition, but doesn't mention her by name.

Sally's pearl necklace was likely a gift from Poseidon
Poseidon likely heard about what happened when Hades sent his Furies to kill Thalia. So, when he learns that Sally is pregnant with his child, Poseidon gifts her a pearl that will protect and save her when she needs it most. It could be a sort of twist in Percy's prophecy, "You shall fail to save what matters most, in the end." In the books, Percy elaborated that what the line meant: he did fail to save his mother himself, but in the end, he allowed her to save herself.

The series will likely elaborate the last line to incorporate Sally's Adaptational Badass nature (assuming she's not gonna be a statue and rather bounded). Hades reveals that the three pearls Poseidon gifted Percy and his friend were actually a means to escape from the Underworld, but can only transport one user. When Sally witnesses her son about to hand Hades the Bolt for her, something clicks in Sally. She realizes that she can save herself by crushing the pearl on her necklace (that Poseidon gave her that we'll likely see in a possible flashback), giving her son a chance to escape with her and the Master Bolt. It would also reveal how Crazy-Prepared Poseidon is and how much more badass Sally is. However, while Sally returns to New York, Percy and his friends to Santa Monica to confront Ares.

  • Jossed.

Athena hasn't undergone Adaptational Villainy
While Annabeth thinks that she sent Echidna after them at the Arch, it's possible that somehow, the traitor, Luke, is the one who got her past the barrier, thus replacing the hellhound attack at camp from the book, in an attempt to get Annabeth to distrust her mother and join his side. Notably, Athena is a) usually depicted as the most levelheaded of the Olympians in pop culture, including the Percy Jackson books, and b) has yet to appear in person and doesn't even have an actress cast yet, indicating she won't appear in the first season, which would clash with her seemingly more active role in the story of The Lightning Thief.

The Nereid who keeps showing up to help Percy is actually Amphitrite
She talks about Poseidon in very familiar terms and says things like "we're all proud of you". While she and Percy are not particularly close early on (witness the coolness with which she greets him in The Last Olympian), we are told later that they eventually get along very well. When factoring in the reveal that Sally and Poseidon still interact to some degree in the series, it's not unreasonable that Amphitrite might already feel warmly towards Percy.

Casting for Athena
While Athena doesn't make her first appearance until Book 3, the tv series may introduce her earlier.

Annabeth's regret is not making up with her father
In the books, Annabeth wants to go back to living with her father, but is scared that it won't go well. Her regret is that she let her fear stop her from giving it a chance. In the next episode she will tell Percy about it and he will encourage her to make up with her father.

Luke stole Hades' Helm of Darkness and used it to steal Zeus' Master Bolt
It's mentioned in a dream by Kronos that he had provided Luke the tools he needed to steal the Master Bolt, and also a means to travel and escape the Underworld. Hades mentioned that his Helm was stolen a few days before Zeus' Bolt was taken. Luke had used a god's symbol of power to steal another, which could likely be considered a traitorous act and what separates him from Percy is that he never uses the Master Bolt in his fight with Ares.
  • Confirmed.

Thalia will join Percy and Nico on their Curse of Achilles quest in season 5, and encounter Iapetus
Possibly to merge the plot of the Sword of Hades to fit the story better and make Iapetus (aka Bob the Janitor) an important character for a future Heroes of Olympus series. And since both Thalia and Nico's moms are dead (thus unable to receive a mother's blessing), Percy is the only one able to bare the Curse of Achilles. While trying to escape Hades' "sanctuary", the trio of forbidden children of the Big Three somehow encounter the titan and, like the book, they manage to mind wipe Iapetus into Bob before heading to the River Styx.

Grover's imprisonment on Polyphemus's island in season 2 will be altered from the novel
Let's face it: Grover's circumstances in The Sea of Monsters are an extended "boy in a dress" joke, and that carries much more transphobic baggage in the 2020s than it did when published in 2006. They probably won't change it so Polyphemus knows Grover is a boy, because that introduces the equally insidious image of an older gay man wanting to literally be a predator towards a younger straight man. The writers will contrive different circumstances for Grover to be trapped on Polyphemus's island and in need of rescue from Percy and Annabeth.
  • Likely jossed. Grover's actor, Aryan Simhadri, has voiced excitement about wearing a wedding dress for season 2 for comedic reasons during his interviews.

In a possible season 2, Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson will be wearing wetsuits for their quest in the Sea of Monsters
Walker has gone on to state that swimming in full clothes during his underwater scenes were a bit tricky for him to pull off initially. If season 2 is renewed, the majority of the season will take place in water. So, to keep the scenes comfortable for the actors, Hermes will gift Percy and the others wet suits and waterproof backpacks for their quest to the Sea of Monsters. To add a bit of flare, Percy and Tyson's wetsuits will be blue with a trident for their father, Poseidon, while Annabeth's will be gray with an owl for her mother, Athena.

An In-Universe explanation would be that Hermes personally delivers the suits and backpacks to Percy and his friends, likely as a gift from Poseidon as they'll need to be prepared for a quest into a monster-infested sea.

The receptionist at the Empire State Building is Argus.

He doesn't have the hundred eyes because it would ruin the effects budget, but his name tag reads "I. Ball" ("Eyeball") and Argus acting as a threshold guardian makes a fair bit of sense.

The "You shall fail to save what matters most, in the end" line could be referring to Bianca and Nico in the adaptation.
According to Steinburg, the last line in Percy's prophecy was purposely left unresolved for the future if the series picks up as planned. Like what Annabeth once told Percy, "That's how prophecies work, that's how fate works: [the last line] could mean a lot of things. The harder you work to understand it, the harder it gets to understand it. Sometimes, you just gotta let it come to you when its ready." What she could also mean is that prophecies don't always have to happen in the span of one quest, and it could extend into a future quest, because prophecies have double meaning.

The last line in the prophecy wasn't referring to Sally like the books... it's talking about Nico di Angelo. I think what it actually means is that Percy will eventually fail to save what matters most to Nico in the end: his sister, Bianca.

Luke will explain how he got his scar in season 2.
Well, it was a bit disappointing, but it makes sense they save that for a possible season 2, where it's focus more on Luke. He explains Percy the story of his failed quest to retrieve a golden apple, how pointless it was, and all he got was his scar that served as a humiliating reminder, in order to guilt trip Percy into joining him. While Percy believes Luke has every right to be angry, it still doesn't excuse the fact he betrayed his friends who loved and would've helped him if he'd chosen the right path. Luke, Blinded by Rage, refuses to consider Percy's point and tries to kill him and Annabeth.

Another Olympian will make an early appearance in Season 2.
Because Hermes was introduced early in Season 1, another major Olympian God will be introduced early in Season 2 to fill in the void. The remaing Gods that could appear early:
  • Aphrodite
  • Apollo
  • Artemis
  • Athena
    • Athena could aid Percy, Annabeth and Tyson. Or she could 'appear' in Annabeth's Siren fantasy.
  • Demeter
    • Possibly the easiest to appear without changing the narrative. As Percy never directly interacted with her in the original series.
  • Hera
  • Hestia

Tyson will be casted with a disabled actor
Because Tyson is coded as being Mentally Disabled, the show will cast Disabled Actor to portray the role.

The Ophiotaurus will make an Adaptational Early Appearance in season 2
Since most of the second season will take place mostly in the water anyway, maybe Percy will end up having to help out the trapped serpent bull that'll end up being a Chekhov's Gunman for season 3. And also give a reason to save Percy's actor, Walker Scobell, the trouble of having to swim in winter clothes.

Season 2 will only have seven episodes
Since Sea of Monsters is a much lighter read, the episode count will be shortened. Think about it:

  1. Chapters 1-3
  2. Chapters 4-7
  3. Chapters 8-9
  4. Chapters 10-11
  5. Chapters 12-13
  6. Chapters 14-16
  7. Chapters 17-20
  • Either that, or they'll likely add an episode that's entirely made for the series to expand the story.

In the beginning of season 2, Annabeth and Percy's reunion is altered.
Instead of Annabeth stalking Percy all the time, she instead arrives to the Jacksons' apartment as she would be spending some time there until Percy is done with school for the summer so they can be dropped off at Camp Half-Blood together. Annabeth and Percy talk about what they've been up to the past year and talk about Luke and Grover's whereabouts, and Annabeth is surprised that Percy has never been attacked by monsters all year (being a forbidden child and all). While Percy is at school, Annabeth eavesdrops on Sally Iris-Messaging Chiron, who explains that the camp is in danger and believes it's not safe for Percy to return to. Alarmed, Annabeth follows Percy to school, and eventually discovers that he has befriended Tyson, a cyclops.

Morpheus will be replaced by Hypnos.
Morpheus is the god of dreams, but not actually sleep in general, not to mention Morpheus doesn't seem to have demigod children in the books, but Hypnos the god of sleep does.

Athena will display hypocrisy in season 3.
During the Winter Solstice meeting, Athena will suggest killing Percy because "[she] just what's best for her daughter [Annabeth]" and thinks it's a wise option. However, Percy will confirm (to the audience) that Athena was the one who sent Echidna and Chimera after the trio during their first quest, being willing to put her own daughter in harms way just to satisfy her ego. Percy would even say "You know, for being the goddess of wisdom, that was unwise". All of the gods present (minus Zeus) will silently agree with Percy's point, and adding to Poseidon and even Annabeth giving Athena a Death Glare.

Magnus will be referenced by Annabeth on at least one occasion.
Probably when Percy explains why he loves the color blue and how much it means to him and his mother, Annabeth will snark that her cousin despises the color, but won't mention Magnus by name.
