Basic Trope: A big, dumb, and Obviously Evil bully.
- Straight: Flash Young is a 7-foot-tall, 300 pound, thuggish, bigoted meathead who seeks to make Pete Perkins' life a living hell.
- Exaggerated:
- Flash is an absolute beast of a human being (if he can even be considered one) whose physical prowess can make even the likes of Pickle go running for the hills, yet the very cost of becoming the Ultimate Life Form were all his braincells plus his moral compass.
- Flash is ten feet tall, a full tonne (approximately 2205 pounds) of unstoppable muscular might (which everybody who has tried to bring a gun (anything from vermin-hunting .22s up to handheld gatlings chambered in 30mm) to the school to try to make him stop has discovered to their ultra-violent regret) who is single-handedly responsible of the students of the entire school district being three hundred thousand million percent more bullied than the entire rest of the country. Averaged to the last 50 years. The only thing holding him back from practically bullying the entire universe is the fact that he literally lacks anything resembling even a brain cell.
- Flash is a full on Jerkass Physical God who intentionally makes an effort to not use any basic common sense and resorts to Insane Troll Logic for committing the most horrific atrocities.
- Downplayed: Flash is 6'4", 145 pounds, and only Book Dumb and a Jerk with a Heart of Gold. He may or may not live a double life as a boxer named Eugene Thompson.
- Justified:
- Flash straight up doesn't care about his studies; He just wants to throw his weight around and rule the roost.
- Any Freudian Excuse would do.
- To further expand on this: Flash's father, Harry Young, was once an incredible boxer. And then he suddenly gets killed in the ring, which gives Flash great grief. Not only that, but he was also sent to a troubled teens institute somewhere in Maine, where it was absolutely terrible at reforming him and an outright masterclass on turning Flash into the brutish bully who makes lives hell. And what better way to vent his fury from all his misfortunes than by paying the world what it owed him?
- As explained below, the entire family's nothing but bullies.
- Inverted:
- Alicia P. Navarro is an Academic Alpha Bitch in Sheep's Clothing and a Nerdy Bully on top of that who heavily relies on heavy amounts of snarking (albeit layered and hidden) and anonymous rumor spreading to make Kayla's life a living hell.
- Gwynn Tracey is an Alpha Bitch who heavily relies on rumors and gossip as well as fashions and popularity to make Kayla's life a living hell.
- Flash is a Bruiser with a Soft Center whose only crimes are the Crime of Self-Defense and the crime of calling Pete "Curley" for basically picking on bigger guys so that every fight results in either a David vs. Goliath where the scrappy young underdog defeats a big mean bully in case the latter wins, or a Wounded Gazelle Gambit where said big mean bully is told to Pick on Someone Your Own Size and is consequently beaten up by everyone nearby.
- Subverted:
- Flash seems like he's going to be a complete and utter brute... Before realizing that it's probably for the better that he just chill out and work on his studies.
- Flash is brutish and dumb, but he's only about average (5'8" - 5'11"), or even below average size (around 5'3" to 5'7").
- Flash is big and dumb, but he's NOT aggressive, being more of a Gentle Giant and a Kind Hearted Simpleton.
- Flash is big and brutish, but he's uncannily smart.
- Double Subverted:
- Just kidding.
- Flash may be short, but he makes up for it by being about 300 pounds of muscle.
- Someone teaches Flash anger. When Flash inevitably comes gunning for them, they definitely are going to regret it.
- Then Flash gets hit over the head, and now he's resorting to brute force.
- Flash's smarts only means that he can unleash brutality in more fields of battle, such as by creating bots to relentlessly send Suicide Dares to people he does not likes — and of course, when they face off against him (as he expected them to) he can manufacture the "suicide" himself.
- Parodied:
- Flash is stated to be dumb as a box of rocks, but a quick glance at his room reveals that he has a full blown schedule that details who gets bullied, where they're going to get bullied, when they're going to get bullied, what bully tactics are going to be employed, why they're going to get bullied, and how the hell Flash is going to implement all of this in his day-to-day basis.
- The Young Family is basically known for this trope; The father, Harry Young, was a well known barbaric bully, and so was his daughter, Hillary Young, and now it's her brother Flash's turn to be this trope. In fact, Flash's Kid from the Future Jerry is revealed to be a barbaric bully himself.
- Zig-Zagged: While big and strong, Flash is merely a Genius Ditz and a Chaotic Neutral.
- Averted:
- Flash is just an average student.
- Flash is comically huge, but he's an average guy.
- Flash is an average bully who uses other means than plain physical domination.
- Enforced:
- "Bigger bullies tend to be more intimidating; People want to see them go down even harder."
- The creator based Flash off of an old bully back at school.
- The writers decided that Flash has to be part of the Big Bad Ensemble and just giving Pete a wedgie is not going to communicate the message of "this is a despicable example of a human being" well enough, so out comes the (constant) attempted murder.
- Lampshaded:Pete: God, is brawn all you're ever good for?
- Invoked: Flash's family taught him how to be this way, as they've been this trope like him before. And no, they're not even abusive towards him, quite the opposite in fact.
- Exploited: Flash is easy to manipulate due to being so utterly idiotic.
- Defied: Flash (or his Cool Big Sis Hillary) make an active attempt to ensure that Flash ain't gonna go down the road of being an idiotic meathead who likes beating people up.
- Discussed: "Flash is honestly such a meatheaded jackass, I'm actually glad that he wasn't blessed with intelligence too. God, imagine how much of a nightmare that would be."
- Conversed: "I don't think bullies even act like that anymore. Not even in fiction."
- Implied: A character named Flash was known for being brawny and brutish, with lack of manners or intelligence, but he's never seen.
- Deconstructed: Flash being so brutish and dumb makes him easy for manipulation.
- Reconstructed: Except for the fact that he's Too Dumb to Fool, which makes him a nightmare to control. And even when someone successfully manages to manipulate him, they have to accept getting their nose smashed in by Flash as collateral damage.
- Played for Laughs: Flash's methods of bullying are comedically over the top, taking Refuge in Audacity by Crossing The Line Twice.
- Played for Drama: Flash's barbaric methods leave scars all over the student body. Anyone who's ever met him are traumatized because of his Bully Brutality.
- Played for Horror: Bully Brutality, taken to the extremes. Flash would outright maim or even kill his victims, especially in horrific, gory, bloody deaths.
- Plotted A Good Waste / They Wasted A Good Plot / Intended Audience Reaction:
- Flash disappears quickly from the plot, leaving people wondering why the heck was he even added to begin with other than maybe a quick "generic Eighties bully" joke.
- Flash is there to highlight how time has marched on. Ancient "monstrous bullying" involved physical brutality. Modern "monstrous bullying" is cyber-attacks. Flash can hurt at the very most 5-7 people (if one considers that he partakes in fights involving multiple combatants). Alicia makes entire schools try to kill themselves without nobody ever figuring out who she actually is.
- Flash is put as the main protagonist, showing the deeper psyche of a brute like him. It's not pretty to look at.
- In one part of the work, Flash plays this completely straight, as this is from Pete's perspective. However, in the other part of the work, in Flash's perspective, it's Pete who's the bully, playing Inverted #2. It doesn't help that both characters are Unreliable Narrators.
'EY! Ya better not go back to the main page, butthead! I'm gonna make sure that ya regret it if ya do...
