So there's a Cuphead ripoff starring Mickey Mouse that's just come out, entitled Rubber Hose Rampage. From what I've seen of it, it's prime SBIH: obviously-traced animations, overwhelming use of stock art, repetitive boss fights, and atrocious gameplay. Think we can reserve a spot for it in the foreseeable future?

I don’t think it qualifies. Say what you will about the gameplay, but the cutscenes and character designs are still praised. To my understanding, something is only considered "Horrible" when there's quite literally nothing good about it or any perceivable saving grace for it.

The game was discussed on the clean-up thread semi-recently, and we concluded that it didn't qualify for SBIH since people do genuinely like the story, cutscenes, and characters despite the gameplay/game design that's mediocre at best, as Sugarp1e1 said above.

The soundtrack is also really great.

It definitely fits the bill from what I've seen, but we should give it the obligatory month grace period before adding it.

50/100 is still too high, so I don't think Redfall qualifies.

Redfall may yet be salvaged into something passable, so I would hold off on listing it for that reason. The Last Hope may qualify, but it needs another month or so for the grace period to expire.

Actually, if The Last Hope does qualify, it may better fit under the Repeat Offenders page with an entry dedicated to West Connection Limited in general.

I'd still wait for a little longer. If the game's still considered SBIH by the end of the year (when the Worst Games of 2023 lists will pop up), then we can consider adding it. Right now, it feels like either a knee-jerk reaction or hopping on the train of Bile Fascination

On the one hand, it has a 5/10 on Steam, which sounds So OK It's Average. On the other hand, all of the top reviews and most of the written ones there are overwhelmingly negative. I'd appreciate a third opinion that knows more about Steam.

It has 68% negative reviews on Steam, which suggests that it's below So OK It's Average — a lot of people hated it. I found another review, which liked the attempt to experiment, but found the actual execution pretty bad. I think the question is whether that and the 32% of positive Steam reviews are enough to disqualify it (especially considering that the top reviews are heavily negative).

i am pretty sure that Actual Footage of Real Life Gore is pretty much damning the game to horrible status

EDIT: After looking up the games Steam reviews it seems that large amount of positive reviews is either trolls or actually negative. so the % of positve reviews is likely around 20

I don't think it does. 5/10 on Steam isn't "Horrible." I think it can be cut.

Well first thing's first, you're going to need more outside information than what one video says since that alone isn't enough to qualify something as horrible and might not reflect the general opinion. Metacritic's 39/100 score checks out, but you're going to need to make sure the majority of people dislike it. If we do decide it qualifies and write an entry, it can't be based on that one video and will need some outside information (either from other reviews or just personal experience that has proven to be widespread).

I think this game counts. Tons of microtransactions, bugs, the consensus clearly says it's a horrible game.

The Xbox One and PS4 ports may be buggy, unoptimized Porting Disasters for the ages, but they currently have only a 55 and 54 on Metacritic respectively, which makes me unsure of whether or not they can actually be listed here. Anyone else have any thoughts?

The console ports belong here. CD Projekt outright lied regarding the console versions at best and committed fraud to get the PS 4 and Xbox One games out at worst. Also, keep in mind that CD Projekt refused to offer console review copies to the press because of fears of dragging down the game's overall review scores. This makes the console's Metacritic number misleading, and one that should be a rare case of it being a non-factor since gamers and critics alike have blasted the PS 4/Xbox ports for their poor state.

Combined with oodles of game-breaking bugs, busted quests, and textures that belong with Goldeneye on Nintendo 64, I say the PS 4/Xbox ports belong here.

While I agree that the PS4 and Xbox One ports of Cyberpunk are flaming dumpster fires right now, we should wait for CDPR to patch the game and see how it turns out before adding it.

Also, the main description says "The work as a whole is truly terrible by the standard of the medium involved, with a low quality in all aspects of work creation: storytelling, drawing, writing, and so on."

Horrible.Video Games says that Porting Disasters can be SBIH, but if the glitches are the only thing making it Horrible, I don't think it counts due to the "all aspects" rule.

I feel like we could possibly list Cyberpunk because of how catastrophically disastrous the console launch was. CD Projekt Red lost one billion dollars over the launch and to make matters worse for them, they are facing a possible class action lawsuit for misrepresentation. The launch ruined their shining reputation among gamers as issues of crunch came to light. Time will tell what impact this will have on the company in the long term but I don't think we can discount this game completely yet. Even if we can't list it as a horrible game per se, we could probably list it as a horrible launch for the sheer magnitude of its failure.

I will say that it certainly wouldn't be the first time we ever listed the initial (terrible) version of a game that caused its creators a ton of trouble and PR disasters but later became an aversion following updates (Final Fantasy XIV).

In the case of FFXIV (which I added way back when), the launch version of the game and A Realm Reborn were essentially two completely different games.

I don't think it qualifies. I did a quick search for "Fallout 76 Reviews" and mostly found 50 and 60% scores, which is too high for SBIH. Most of the complaints are already covered by FO 76's entry in Overshadowed by Controversy.

And yet, the latest update made the game EVEN MORE broken than it was at LAUNCH.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah, I think it fits to add it in now. And this is not the only time a game got added on those pages despite having a 50/60% score. It is too much of a mess now and, unlike Sonic 2006, there is not even a So Bad It's Good factor to it.

I think the game shouldn't be listed unless (pretty much) no one likes it and it's confirmed that Bethesda has given up on it. For all we know, the next update might help rescue the game.

The canvas bag and data breach were... not good, but they're already covered on InternetBackdraft.Fallout 76. More importantly, a disastrous promotion doesn't make the game itself horrible.

Daikatana was kicked out of SBIH a while ago because "it didn't rate that bad". A few (including me) had to convince the guys here to re-add and give more context to why it was such a mess. It DESERVED to be on SBIH.

I'm sorry, but ratings are not everything. And given what happened this year with the game AND Bethesda, the game CROSSES the line to be added here.

I'm with Asue. All the publicity generated has been exceedingly negative. The price of the Fallout 1st bundle was another misstep, along with each update re-introducing bugs long thought squashed.

I fail to see how the game is better than some other games listed on the Darth Wiki, such as the original release of Final Fantasy 14 Online (a rare case of the developers doing whatever it takes to fix their product successfully).

Apparently, despite being a nice exemple of recent Idiot Programming on display and with the Creator's Apathy sort of attitude on Bethesda's part, it doesn't qualify? Just because some people still play it and it still gets updated (despite those updates breaking the game even further)?

So perhaps we can compromise - list the game here, but like FFXIV say "the original unpatched game"? That at least we might be able to agree on.

You have to delete the word "arguably", as Examples Are Not Arguable

I don't think Examples Are Not Arguable means you can never use the word "arguably" in an example. Just not if the presence of the word puts the validity of the example in question. Whether or not your movement speed is worse in Horde mode, the game would still qualify for this page, so I'd say it's okay to use it here.

The game itself is bad, but I don't know if it's SBIH levels of bad. Even though the Metascore is a pretty low 46, three of the reviews gave it at least 70/100.

It somehow got 64/100 on Metacritic, so it's not eligible for SBIH. However, it's listed under Critical Dissonance because general audiences seem to hate it.

Americans Hate Tingle. In Japan, the game is actually fairly well received. Hence why Samus has her Other M armor in Smash and the game isn't Canon Discontinuity.

Federation Force may possibly qualify, though I doubt it.

Just looked up both Other M and Federation Force and while they do have a lot of of super negative reviews I also was able to find 7s, 8s, and even 9s. They definitely dont qualify.

Not really, the reception in Japan was lukewarm at best.

And "lukewarm reaction" means it doesn't qualify for SBIH. If lukewarm to bad reception alone qualified something as SBIH, Pokémon Channel, the Bayformers movies, Fire Emblem Fates, and every hit song that ended up on multiple worst songs of insert year here lists would count. Any work targeted by Un-PC Crusaders because it doesn't treat minorities as subhuman or women as ineffectual eye candy would count. The response has to be cataclysmic for it to count as SBIH, and "lukewarm at best" doesn't sound cataclysmic. The reaction to The Quiet Man, Fant4stic, or the Xbone reveal - THAT was cataclysmic.

Neither Other M nor Federation Force qualify. While they've both angered a lot of fans, both games are at least fundamentally solid, which can't be said for the other games on this page. Plus, both games have their defenders. Other M's controversial deviation from the formula and sexist undertones don't make this game So Bad, It's Horrible while some cite Federation Force's poor reception as coming from being in the wrong place at the wrong time (keep in mind that Metroid hasn't had a proper installment in years at the point of Federation Force's announcement). They do not belong here.

I despise it too, but critical reception seems more mixed.

The example also mentions that it's a port, so even if it was Horrible, it would go on Porting Disaster instead of this page.

But yeah, the flaws listed here (bland and occasionally glitchy graphics, framerate issues, lack of difficulty) don't seem severe enough to qualify as SBIH.

Asphalt 3D has a Metacritic score of 43/100, which is too high for SBIH.

However, a tiny number of positive reviews is not really sufficient to prove that a widely panned work is not SBIH. After all, everything with a nonzero score on Rotten Tomatoes got at least one favourable review.

If the graphics are acceptable and the story is good, then it doesn't qualify. Enjoy the Story, Skip the Game is a trope for a reason. Also, click "start new discussion" if you want to, well, start a new discussion. Right now it looks like you are replying to the Sonic Boom guy.

Also, The Quiet Man. It mostly has negative reviews, but I found a couple of 8/10 reviews on Metacritic. I'm not sure if that's enough to make the game "not horrible".

Seems more like Audience-Alienating Premise than this. Unless the game is mechanically unsound.

For how much of a PR disater, how In Name Only it is and the fact that they charge you up the ass with microtransactions (including additionnal save files), it should deserve it.

And the game functions fine mechanically like Battlefront II which suffered from negative flak as well for monetizing a majority of its base actions. Unless the game is mechanically unplayable without microtransaction it doesnt get placed in the So Bad Its Horrible section.

Even Yahtzee, the only Caustic Critic without a grudge towards Konami can say its only bland.
