Video Examples Quality Control

I honestly feel like I should be a video moderator, cause I feel like I'm the only one who knows which video tropes are banned.

Parody Commercial also has the entire Big Bill Hell's video on it.

There probably should be a job specifically for video uploading . . . wishful thinking.

(Also, how many tropes has just the ending scene of Amphibia’s Hopping Mall been uploaded under this cycle?)

Truth in Television is an index, right? Then why does it have video examples?

I'm repeating a claim I did some pages ago but got ignored.

There is a video example for Nice Job Breaking It, Rivals! that comes from The Loud House. The source for the clip is marked as The Loud House S 1 E 4 A Tale Of Two Tables The Sweet Spot, a page that got cut a few weeks ago after being replaced with one that haves the two segments in the right order in the page name, which is The Loud House S1E4 "The Sweet Spot / A Tale of Two Tables". Can someone edit it?

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony page has a video example that is posed incorrectly (rotated 90 degrees to the right). It's hard to see what exactly is happening (msot of the info comes from the audio cue) unless you tilt your head.

Sorry, dunno which videos thread to post this in, but every video in VideoExamples.Bloons Tower Defense is sideways (likely from being captured from a phone, judging by the UI)

Might be the "sideways" video glitch again. If they don't correct themselves in a few days, ask for them to be removed in this thread.

So, for Do with Him as You Will, why does the Superman example repeat itself?

The video "Interesting..." on Furry Confusion has a — you guessed it! — Kisscartoon watermark.

The "Robot Hell" (for ''Futurama) video on Villain Song has a huge watermark on the bottom left corner, presumably from whoever uploaded it on Youtube.

The Fairly Oddparents example for The Scapegoat has a random meme at the end. Also for The Fairly Oddparents, the Surprisingly Realistic Outcome has a Bandaicam watermark.

Hi, I want to upload a video to Transformation Sequence for Sonic Heroes but I'm worried due to the large amount of flashing imagery (Lightning before you ask), should I at least put an Epilepsy Warning for it?

I’m a bit concerned about the flashing lights in both “Nergal zaps the audience” under The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You and “Nergal” under The Bad Guy Wins (it’s the same scene).

New here to the thread.

I should start off that I have uploaded a couple of videos since last year, and I do admit that not all of my examples are the best.

That said, I do have a select series of rules that I enforce upon myself when uploading videos. Of course, there are the established ones here, but I also want to make sure there isn't anything obstructing the videos I upload, such as random sounds taken outside of the intended footage, watermarks (this is especially guilty when MovieClips gets involved as there are a lot of videos here with a MovieClips logo being watermarked in the bottom-left), and subtitles (unless the audio is not English).

On another note, I do personally feel miffed that most videos that tend to be uploaded are typically the most popular Western Animation works, with the Rio duology and the Ice Age films being the most egregious examples (I'll be honest, I don't like a large presence of either Small Reference Pools and I don't want examples to look like it's aiming for the Lowest Common Denominator). However, one example that has peeved me a lot is the scene depicting the death of Manny's original family. Normally, I'd be fine if it was only uploaded once, but we have the clip uploaded 8 times to individually represent (Troubled Backstory Flashback, Action Film, Quiet Drama Scene, Silence Is Golden, Dark and Troubled Past, Silence of Sadness, Gory Discretion Shot, Art Shift, and Facial Dialogue). It's not the only example, but it seems to be the most notable one. Other clips, such as the Dodo (Doofy Dodo and Too Dumb to Live) uses two clips, and on Rio, there's the same with Too Much Information and Rhetorical Question Blunder regarding a scene between Blu and Jewel, Big Bad, Card-Carrying Villain, and Feathered Fiend regarding Nigel, and with Rio 2, Gabi's "love song" is represented by copies of the same clip to showcase Stalker with a Crush, Cute and Psycho, Interspecies Romance, Yandere, and Abhorrent Admirer. There are far more examples of repeated clips, but there you go.

There is a remedy to this, and that's to type "Main/[insert trope name]" in the Media Source(s) section of uploading a video, so I guess that can be further showcased as a way to tell users how to have a singular video represent more than one trope. Or I guess that's a problem that only I get to take seriously.

Just wanted to throw this thought after having held on to it for months BTW.

That's actually against the rules, and multiple videos have been brought to the video moderation thread to remove that type of thing.

Way to go making it about yourself, by the way.

That aside, the video being uploaded to eight different tropes is indeed excessive - I think there's a Wile. E and Roadrunner short that's been uploaded a similar amount, but we never did decide if mass posting the same clip was okay or not.

Still, I feel that it would be best if a video is uploaded only to a single trope, as using the same one over and over for different tropes feels like spamming to me. So in conclusion, yes, I would be opposed to mass posting one clip for the intent of representing multiple tropes. I find it to be spam and it clogs up a good chunk of any indexes the videos are supposed to be sorted in, especially in it's media source and in the Recent Videos section.

You mentioning Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner got me to check the video examples. It turns out that the example from Stop! Look! And Hasten! has 7 copies of the same video. There are two other "same videos for different tropes examples", one regarding Mouse Trap for Rodents of Unusual Size and Exactly What It Says on the Tin, and another with Xylophone Gag and Musical Trigger.

I don’t think it’s actually currently possible to upload a video example representing multiple tropes without splitting it up into multiple copies since from what I have heard on either this thread or the Video Moderation thread you are not allowed to list tropes as a media source. So I think that is why people are uploading multiple copies of the same video.

Too be fair, the video uploading interface is inconsistent about the "trope as media source" thing — the initial upload form looks like it's explicitly endorsing it (though one could argue that it's only explaining what namespaces look like) and only the edit form explicitly forbids it.

Recently a bunch of videos from de Blob have been uploaded. The videos for Blob Monster and Road Runner vs. Coyote are the same video with different titles.

A video I uploaded for It's Okay to Cry just got approved, but its media source (EDENS ZERO) isn't showing up and I can't edit it. What am I supposed to do now?
