This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

Yeah, that one is better.
I actually think both are good, though I like yours better.
Agree: both are good, but replacement better represents the trope.
I’ve been thinking about Better Than Canon’s quote for a bit, and decided that it doesn’t fit the trope because it declares the events of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney to be non-canon, which sounds more like Fanon Discontinuity rather than when a fan project is considered superior to the original work. I think this quote from the Quotes page might be more fitting, but feel free to suggest other quotes:
Any feedback on what I brought up here?
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadI still don't think that quote really represents the trope well.
Yeah I prefer the second quote from Terry Gilliam for Tom Waits too.
Fair enough. So should I just cut the main page’s quote, or leave it as is?
I want to go to Tonio's.The quote in Smarter Than You Look is not bad, but I'd prefer something that isn't just restating the trope name. Some alternatives:
Iron Man: Of course, you are, buddy. I know you're not stupid.
Hulk: Hulk has Ph.D.
Iron Man: What.
Hulk: Hulk a nuclear physicist in spare time.
The Kingdom Hearts III and Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay quotes look best to me.
I would've wanted to add this as the top-page quote for Nemesis Weapon, simply because it compares two weapons and outright says the "swords themselves got something to settle".
However, I still have some concerns:
- I already crosswicked the quote as a part of an example under the Video Games section, but it's hidden under a spoiler tag within the example's paragraph. Is it okay for the same quote to be mentioned on the top page and on the list of examples below?
- The quote actually has a spoiler pertaining to the game because one character never knew what his sword's powers were and only discovered them midway. Is it okay for a top-page quote to be spoilerific in nature?

With Great Power, Comes Great MotivationNot only is the quote loaded with potholes, it's too long!
Edit: Quote has been nuked.

(Also, that quote has the dubious honor of being the first quote in which I used that phrase for it.)
Yeah, wow. Fire at will, Commander.
Lol and I agree.
x6 On the Nemesis Weapon quote, I don't think there's a problem with having a quote as the page quote and being mentioned again, but it is redundant. So if you want, you can delete it within the body. I think being a spoiler is a bigger issue. I'm not familiar with the game, so it didn't feel spoiler-y to me, but I'll let those who know the game weigh in.

I think that's fine. Examples should be standalone, anyway. I wouldn't take something out of an example just because something else on the page also mentions it. (I might feel differently about a bunch of examples on a work page all using the same quote, but on a trope page, it will probably only be repeated once at most.)
I wouldn't. Page quotes can change; if the top one goes, there's no guarantee it will be added back into the examples. (And that's not something I'd expect anyone to try and keep track of.)
No, there should be no spoilers above the example line. There may be exceptions for — for instance — sequels of a work where the description spoils the plot of the work it's a sequel to. In those cases we may put a banner warning at the very top.

I don't like the recently added quote for Every Pizza Is Pepperoni. It relies entirely on text in parentheses describing the character's action for context, since the quote does not relate to the trope without it, and it barely demonstrates to the trope even with the added context. Quotes should stand on their own.
...why does this one troper seem to be so adamant about putting this one Garfield panel on this page? This sounds like an attempt to get around the IP thread. Anyway, pull.

Yeah, pull with a vengeance.
(Annoyed grunt)So, Legacy of Kain has two page quotes, ostensibly because the major themes are collectively summed up in both of them. And both of them are potholed to hell and back.
Either would work as a sole quote, but the first is one of the best pieces of dialogue a series full of excellent dialogue, so my vote is to keep that.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.I think it'd be best to keep the first quote too.
Yeah keep the first.
White-Collar Crime is another page with an obtuse quote that's only stating the trope name without explaining it. This is a much better one:
Crown Description:
What should be the page quote for Monster.Fan Works?
Would Harm a Senior's quote doesn't really reflect its spirit. How's this for a replacement?
