• "The Energy of Snoring": The main melody of the episode is heavily based on the song "O du lieber Augustin", which plays throughout almost the entire episode.
• "The Iron Nanny":
- In the finale, the Iron Nanny raises one of its hands in the air, remenisant of the T-800's gesture from Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
- The Iron Nanny freezes in the pose of the Indian god Shiva.
• "The Telegraph":
- The Telegraph emits ICQ messenger notification sounds.
- Carlin's disguise when he destroys the telegraphs, dressing up very much as a Darkwing Duck.
• "Flying in a Dream and in Reality": The episode's name is lifted from a 1983 Soviet film.
•"The Secret Society":
- Krash and Chiko go off into the sunset and sing a song from The Elusive Avengers.
- Krash lays out a hedgehog from matches in the same way as Stirlitz in Seventeen Moments of Spring.
•"The Sweetness of Honey":
- The original Russian title of the episode: "This Sweet Word: Honey", a reference to the movie This Sweet Word Liberty.
- The bear is stuck and needs to be pulled out.
• "Admirers in the Sky": The beginning of the episode parodies Signs.
•"The Disco Dancer":
- The episode is named after the Indian film of the same name.
- Barry wears glasses in the shape of five-pointed stars, the same as in the movie Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.
• "Training for a Nap": The original Russian and Studio 100 title of the episode, ” The Pedagogical Poem”, a reference to a book of the same name.
• "Bon Voyage, Wally!":
- The plot of the episode is a reference to the Soviet film Cloud-Paradise, where the main character was similarly collected on a trip to the Far East.
- Seeing off Wally, his friends play the Farewell of Slavianka march.
• "Soccer Game"
- Krash is constantly dribbling, throwing opponents and juggling the ball like Ronaldinho.
- Rosa wears a Lev Yashin’s cap.
- Pin plays with protective glasses just like Edgar Davis.
• "Dream Maker": Carlin runs across the Khazad-dûm Bridge to escape from a Balrog-esque monster
•"In The Beginning Was The Word": Episode title, and the first lines of Barry's own history are the first lines of the Gospel of John.
• "Material Instinct":
- When Chiko goes to see Rosa, Dokko says: "The Return of the Prodigal Son". When he gets to the Rosa, Chiko gets on his knees.
- The original Russian title of the episode: Basic Instinct.
• "Enter Chikorini": The skirmish of Chiko with himself behind the screen is an homage to the famous monologue of the hero Robert De Niro in film Taxi Driver.
• "My Precious": "My Precious", the perfume that is very dear to Olga is a reference to Gollum's Catchphrase.
• "Space Oddysey": The title of the episode is a reference to the film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
• "Chiko in the Fog": The whole episode references Hedgehog in the Fog, all with it's premise of a hedgehog character getting lost in the nebula, some of the phrases and background music.
• "What Wishes May Come": The title of the episode is a reference to What Dreams May Come.
• "Houdini's Secret": The title and plot of the series are a reference to Harry Houdini’s magic tricks.
• "Hero of Pluto": While on hunger strike, Dokko is seen reading a book by Giordano Bruno.
• "The Meaning of Life"
- The motives and musical accompaniment of the episode refer to the film Dead Man.
- The camera slowly sliding around the room, the leitmotif of the search, the vague image of Kuzinatra, numerous philosophical dialogues between the characters, the lack of a direct path to Kuzinatra, Wally's failure to achieve the goal, and the end of the episode are all reference Stalker (1979).
- Wally's dream with a flying Carlin is a reference to the Dude's dream from the film The Big Lebowski.
- Kuzinatra itself is a reference to Trumps of Doom, or more specifically, a mistake in its Russian translation. The book at one point referred to Cuisinart, a food processor. Russian translator didn't know what that was, and transliterated the word into something that didn't make sense to readers.
• "In Pursuit of Happiness"
- The characters go to an abandoned area in search of a ball that, if used correctly, can grant happiness. Like the characters of a Roadside Picnic.
- 4Kids dub had a bit of fun with the invention Pin made to find Krash and Chiko. According to him, it's a search engine he was going to call "Yahoot", but decided to go with "Boogle" in the end.
• "The Labyrinth": The way Dokko leads his friends through the maze largely repeats the episode with the Hampton Court Maze from the book Three Men in a Boat.
•"House of Mirrors": Wally goes through the bars like the Terminator T-1000 in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
•"New Year Mail": The scene in which Rosa wakes up Mysharik and pours water on it is a reference to a similar scene from the film The Irony of Fate.
• "The Most Important Thing": Dokko hides the golem from Barry behind the door, just as Sartorius hid his phantom from Chris Kelvin in the film Solaris (1972).
• "The Lost Apology": During Wally's dream, Rosa poses and wrings her hands, imitating actress Alisa Koonen.
• "The Right To Be Lonely":
- Wally flies high above the clouds like Neo's ship in the film The Matrix Revolutions.
- Wally communicates with friends made of fruit like Chuck Noland in the film Cast Away.
- Wally plays soccer with copies of himself like Captain Jack Sparrow in the film Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
- Wally uses a coconut instead of a ball like the hero of the film Mr. Robinson.
• "It Cant Be True": The plot of the episode largely refers to the story of The Colour Out of Space.
• "April Fool's Day": Olga's prank with the purse is based on the one done by Shapoklyak in Cheburashka.
• "The Marathoner": The whole episode is one big reference to the Forrest Gump’s run. Wally wears a red cap simular to that of Gump, starts running non-stop, eventually doing it just for the sake of running, and at one point Chiko exclaims "Run Wally, run." to him.
• "The Good The Bad And The Girls": Wally's villainous makeup is a reference to the film DeadMan.
• "The Cherry Orchard": The episode is named after the play of the same name The Cherry Orchard.
• "Fear Room": Barry follows Carlin with a mirror in his hands and asks where to put it. This is a reference to a similar moment from the film "Welcome, or No Trespassing".
• "The Grandmother Effect"
- Among the books that Munya reads is Jack London's novel "The Sea Urchin", which is a reference to a real—life work of the writer - The Sea Wolf.
- Carlin sings the Russian folk song "When I had golden mountains" (Когда б имел златые горы).
• "Only Mountains": On the wall of the house hangs a picture with patapons from the series of games Patapon.
• "Rosa Goes On A Diet": Rosa’s dream with floating sweets a reference to a dream with floating rose petals from American Beauty.
•"Dolce Vita": The title of the episode is a reference to the film La Dolce Vita.
• "The Creator": The green computer-generated design of Wally's imaginary world is a reference to the franchise The Matrix.
• "Mystery of Ancient Treasures":
- At the beginning of the episode, Krash wears a Sherlock Holmes hat.
- Older version only: the phrase that Krash interprets as a hint towards Bratsk is "Where is the power, brother?" ("brat" being the Russian word for "brother").
• "Music Therapy" In this episode, Carlin sings old Russian romances:

- Showing tricks, Carlin hums the theme of the Pink Panther.
- Wally makes a copy of Henri Matisse's painting "Dance" out of clothes, but instead of people, there are sheep on it.
• "The Nannies": In one of his photos, Bibi is standing on the bow of a sunken ship with his arms outstretched.
• "The Test": Krash and Chiko fill up the entrance to the cave with a round stone just like in Alyosha Popovich and Tugarin Zmey.
• "Happy New Crunch": "The East is a delicate matter", Wally notices when Rosa tells him that everything needs to be done according to the eastern horoscope.
•"Clean Sport": The hedgehog overtook the hare.
