  • In his review of Gladiator:
    • In the opening, Nick says that as much as he enjoyed the movie, it ranks down there with Game of Thrones for historical accuracy. Cut to:
Tyrion Lannister: I will hurt you for this.
      Nick: [blinks] Anyway...
    • Nick says changing how Commodus died was probably for the best, asking the audience to imagine Russell Crowe strangling Joaquin Phoenix in a bathtub. Cue a goofy picture of exactly that, while "Now We Are Free" plays. Nick says that he doubts even Hans Zimmer could make something like that seem epic.
  • Nick's reaction to the fact that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed a canon literally titled "Lick me in the arse", and to witnessing a group of schoolchildren singing it.
  • Nick is almost at a loss for words upon seeing the presence of Spaniards at the end of Apocalypto, and his explanation of why borders on a hilarious Heroic BSoD.
Nick: I...I can't take it anymore. This film goes beyond being historically inaccurate. This doesn't make a lick of sense. How can Apocalypto be both about the Classic Mayan collapse and show the conquistadors arriving six hundred years later? When the Classic Mayan period officially ended in the year 900, Spain was part of an Islamic caliphate, it didn't even exist as a country. And yet I am looking at what I can only describe as time-traveling conquistadors. Please explain it to me, anybody, how this is possible.
    • This leads to a cameo by Cody Franklin of Alternate History Hub making the argument that Mel Gibson set the film in a ludicrously batshit Alternate Timeline in which the conquistadors, with the help of "alien space bats," managed to singlehandedly overthrow Muslim rule and unify the Spanish Empire within an unrealistically short span of time. Nick credits Cody with making a more plausible scenario than the movie did.
  • In the Tombstone review, Nick points out that Wyatt Earp was a bit of an everyman who dabbled in all sorts of different careers before he arrived in Tombstone. So he dubs Sam Elliott's opening narration about The Dude in The Big Lebowski over footage of the Earps' arrival in Tombstone. Doubly funny seeing as Sam Elliott plays Virgil Earp.
  • Nick's entire reactions in the scene in Timeline where the characters are bought before the villain Lord Oliver, snarky pointing out how much of an idiot the character is through out the whole scene.
Lord Oliver: Who are you?...Yes you, the one who's head is touching the ceiling.
    François:...François my Lord.
Lord Oliver: [surprised look] A Frenchman?
Nick: A Frenchman? In France? Who would have thought?
  • Nick fully admits Awesome, Dear Boy is in play when he reviews The Wolf of Wall Street, acknowledging that it's barely a historical movie but is awesome nonetheless.
  • Nick gets sidetracked while theorizing how a Japanese attack on a modern US Navy would pan out during his review of Tora! Tora! Tora!.
Nick: I wonder how those Japanese Zeroes would last against the full might of the US...
[Cut to F-14 shooting a missile at a Zero]
Nick: Oh my God...THAT IS AWESOME!
  • The Terror sees Nick comparing the Tuunbaq to ManBearPig.
  • For Elizabeth: The Golden Age:
    • In the scene where Elizabeth expels the Spanish ambassador and his entourage after the failed Throckmorton plot, Nick thinks Elizabeth was under-acting, so asks her to try again but be over-the-top. Cue Galadriel's Badass Boast from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring:
Galadriel: In place of a dark lord, you would have a QUEEN! NOT DARK, BUT BEAUTIFUL, AND TERRIBLE AS THE DAWN! TREACHEROUS AS THE SEA!
      Nick: Much better...
    • In the scene where Sir Walter Raleigh tells a tall tale of his voyage to America, Nick splices in some of "Why the Fuck You Lyin'?"
  • In the Apollo 13 review, Nick laments that the most significant cultural contribution NASA has made since the golden age of space exploration has been astronaut Chris Hadfield's interstellar cover of David Bowie's "Space Oddity." Cut to a clip of this video, then cut to an unimpressed Nick glaring into the camera, which spins as if he too is in orbit.
  • Nick's reviews for GoodFellas and Casino show him cracking jokes about Joe Pesci's rap single and then getting verbally abused by Pesci (in clips from GoodFellas) over it.
    • His GoodFellas review also delivers this perfect Precision F-Strike while discussing people who talk about how great the movie is but only give superficial reasons why:
Overenthusiastic YouTube countdown list-style narrator: Oh my God. Top 5. #1. Best steadycam one take, hands down! It's just so... dynamic... and... it's all in... one take! (radio-style voiceover) Who misses practical effects, people? Am I right? I love this shot! My dad loves this shot! You all love this shot, you voted for it! Certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes! 89 percent Metacritic!
      Nick: Shut the fuck up.
  • In the We Were Soldiers review, Nick disgustedly imitates Hal Moore's children's rendition of "Bingo" in a high-pitched voice.
  • In the Band of Brothers review:
    • Nick reveals that Albert Blithe did not die in 1948, as the show claims, but recovered from his war wounds and died in the '60s. Cut to:
Beast: WHAT?!?!?! [storms through the castle]
Cogsworth: [running after him] Your Grace! Your Eminence!
    • Nick imagines the real-life Albert Blithe watching this episode and being shocked at the epilogue. Standing in for Blithe is Gaear from Fargo, stopping short at what he sees on TV with a fork midway from his mouth.
  • In the Alexander review:
  • In the 300 review:
Nick as Xerxes: What does your spy report?
Nick as a Persian general: To be honest, Your Grace, it's hard to believe. He says they're a bunch of poofters.
    Nick as Xerxes: Explain.
Nick as a Persian general: Well, he says he saw the Spartans comb their hair and anoint their bodies with perfumes and scented oils. All this... whilst naked.
    Nick as Xerxes: That's gay.
Nick as a Persian general: Yes, Your Grace, very gay. Very gay indeed, Your Grace. No doubt their gayness will prove a decisive factor in winning this battle.
Nick as Xerxes: Excellent. Let's not look into this any further. Attack!
  • His review of Braveheart has a lot of funny moments, owing to Nick’s disdain for the film.
    • Nick calls out the fact that Braveheart is a generic run-of-the-mill action adventure story, before correcting that it's a generic run-of-the-mill Mel Gibson movie.
  • In The Untouchables review:
    George Stone: Where's Nitti?
Eliot Ness: He's in the car.
    Roger Daltrey: YYYYEEEEAAAAHHHH
