Oracles

Advisors for the CPUs.

    General Tropes
  • Promoted to Playable: They're NPCs in the original games, but become playable in the Re;Birth games.
  • Put on a Bus: After mk2, all of them except Histoire are removed from the story; Kei opened a business, Mina left to study Oracle activity in other nations after realizing that she was mostly just a babysitter, and Chika is handling a worker's strike.

Super Dimension Histoire

Ultra Dimension Histoire

Voiced by: Mika Kanai (Japanese), Stephanie Sheh (English)

A small, fairy-like woman who is a living archive for Gameindustri's history, and a recurring authority for the CPUs across the different settings.

General Tropes:

  • Berserk Button:
    • Hyper Dimension Histy can turn into quite the nag over Neptune's laziness.
    • Ultra Dimension/Mini-Histy doesn't take comments about her low processing power very lightly.
  • Big Good: Super Dimension Histoire leads the CPUs against Arfoire and helped create them in the first place. Hyper Dimension Histoire is technically only Neptune's advisor, but the other CPUs start taking orders from her after their own Oracles get Put on a Bus.
  • Emoticon: She'll often use emoticons and emojis when talking, and although she drops this in later games, her Ultra Dimension counterpart (running an earlier version) frequently engages in this. VII also shows that Hyper Dimension Histoire is prone to falling back into this if she's dazed. And in ReBirth1, she notes with some pride that she's the first character in the series to use them.
  • Exposition Fairy: In addition to her vast knowledge of Gamindustri, she's often used for the player to understand new mechanics. It helps that she looks like a fairy.
  • Great Big Book of Everything: She sits on one that floats. Unfortunately it'll take three of whatever unit of time measurement she's using at the moment for her to find any information needed in her, so it's better to just go out and figure things out without her.
  • In-Series Nickname: Histy, or Mini-Histy for her Ultra Dimension counterpart, courtesy of Neptune.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: She can only appear through telepathic messages in the first game until the end, and the opening obscures your view of her as much as humanly possible, but every other game in the series has her show up almost right away, being completely unobscured in every other opening, and referencing all of her jokes from the first game immediately.
  • Meaningful Name: "Histoire" relates to her original purpose, that of recording the history of all that is, was and will be.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: She's an artificial being who was created by one of Neptune's predecessors and functions similarly to a computer (she may talk with emoticons, and there's plenty of gags about her specs). She's also a book.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: She's the size of a large tome. But as a playable character, said large tome allows her to unleash a magical hell on the enemy's sorry hide. Her EXE Finisher is also one of the strongest in the game.
  • Really 700 Years Old: In the Super Dimension, she predates all four CPUs who she helped create. Hyper Dimension Histoire was created by the very first Planeptune CPU.
  • Ridiculously Human Robots: She was created by Arfoire in the original game, and a Planeptune CPU in the other settings. Her measurements are given in electronic terms, she overheats if she exerts herself, and while she can use regular medicines for some conditions, for the particularly bad cases she tends to need some form of patch or update in the form of special devices like the Sanshiro's Soulful Patch (which she uses by getting the cartridge shoved into her mouth).
Nepgear: "She's not a human or a goddess, but I hear she's a manmade super being."
  • Rule of Three: Three hours, three days, three months, whatever unit of time she measures in, she always takes three of it to get anything done.
  • Throw the Book at Them: She uses books as weapons.
  • Vocal Evolution: While sealed in the original game, she has a mature tone that is used by her Hyper Dimension counterpart. When unsealed, she has a high-pitched voice that is used by her Ultra Dimension counterpart. The anime uses the latter voice, despite portraying Hyper Dimension Histoire.

Super Dimension Histoire (Hyperdimension Neptunia/Re;Birth1/reVerse)

  • Expecting Someone Taller: Neptune had this reaction on their first meeting. Understandable since her Spirit Advisor voice sounds like a mature woman, but when she is finally released she looks and sounds like the Token Mini-Moe.
  • Only Sane Man: Plays this role when guiding the four CPUs. It's most noticeable in the event before opening the Road to Celestia.
  • Spirit Advisor: Histoire fulfills the former role to Neptune and her group.
  • Wham Line: Near the end of the game, which casts the figure in question in a whole new light.
Noire: "Come to think of it, I feel like we did have a mother who raised us."
    Histoire: "Oh, you mean Arfoire?"

Hyper Dimension Histoire (mk2/Re;Birth2, VII/VIIR, Sisters)

  • Dream Sequence: Has several over the course of VII recalling her time spent with the original Uzume when she was Planeptune's CPU.
  • Foreshadowing: During one of her VII Dream Sequences, she has a conversation with a previous CPU of Planeptune noting the similarities between their respective headgears, which Histoire admits was intentional on her part. Now compare Orange Heart's headgear to Histoire's own...
  • Heroic RRoD: Briefly shuts down due to opening the dimensional portal that was meant to bring Nepgear and Neptune back from the Zero Dimension, stating it was beyond her specifications. In order to bring her out of it, she needs a Sanshiro's Soulful Patch, which revives with sheer willpower.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: She's often treated as a higher authority than Neptune, who'd rather shirk her CPU duties to nap, eat, and play. In the Hyper Dimension G arc, Planeptune remains the most intact after Gold Third is put in charge of Gamindustri, mostly because the nation still has Histoire to cover for B-Sha sharing Neptune's work ethic (or lack thereof).
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Kurome erased all memory of Uzume's existence after her sealing, though Histoire still has vague memories of interacting with someone she can't put a face on.
  • Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: She's one of the few people unaffected by the Cosmic Retcon replacing the CPUs with Gold Third, which she attributes to her artificial nature.
  • Signature Headgear: A staple, but one that becomes a minor plot point. In a Dream Sequence, she mentions she intentionally designed it to be similar to that of a previous Planeptune CPU. It's not a coincidence that it resembles the one on Uzume's Orange Heart form.
  • You Remind Me of X: When she hears Uzume speak for the first time, she mentions that she reminds her of an old acquaintance. She's unknowingly speaking to said acquaintance, a previous Planeptune CPU, though we find out later that it's not actually her, but someone who was split off from her.

Ultra Dimension Histoire (Victory/Re;Birth3)

  • Acrophobic Bird: Mini Histy is able to fly. She's scared of heights.
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: Iris Heart's method of torturing her is to simply take her bookmark away so she loses her place in a book she's reading.
  • Head Pet: Neptune has a Histy doll that she can wear on her head. Copypaste uses the real Mini Histy like this as well, which is when her fear of heights is revealed.
  • Nerd Glasses: Wears them in one section. And it really does look adorable.
  • Precision F-Strike: Mini-Histy comes close, very close, to calling Neptune a "bitch" before actually censoring herself. This is because Nep-Nep insulted her greatest insecurity, her low processing power.
  • Snap Back: She shares her habit of talking with emotes with her Super Dimension counterpart.
  • Voice with an Internet Connection: Mini-Histy, though it only comes up once, to yell at Neptune and Plutia about complaining about dungeons dividing the countries.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Played with. Ultra Dimension Histoire is the same as she was in the previous games in terms of intelligence, even though she's a lot younger.

    Kei Jinguji

Kei Jinguji

Voiced by: Yuko Sanpei (Japanese), Julie Ann Taylor (English)

A shrewd businesswoman with a bit of a reputation for making deals that border on the Faustian, and will not take kind to those who do not fulfill their end of the bargain. She is Lastation's Oracle.

  • Bifauxnen: She looks very much like a boy and behaves like one, too.
  • Boyish Short Hair: It really adds to her boyish look.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Very snarky and actual rivals IF in this department, much to her annoyance.
  • Hidden Buxom: According to the artbook, she's a B-cup who binds her breasts.
  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: Everyone thought she was the first male to ever be introduced in the series but surprisingly, she's all woman.
  • Older Than They Look: Despite looking like a child, she is said to be older than her appearance. Her actual age has not yet been disclosed.
  • Royal Rapier: Not royalty, but shares this fighting style with Noire in Re;Birth2.
  • The Stoic: She's so composed that she's the only Oracle in the Conquest Ending who accepts Nepgear killing her nation's CPUs given the circumstances, though she does admit to feeling discomfort while talking with her after Noire and Uni's deaths.
  • Tomboyish Voice: Her deep voice make her sound more boyish than the other female characters.
  • Workaholic: Is similarly obsessed with work and business like Noire. Although Kei is more obsessed with business, while Noire is more obsessed with work.

Voiced by: Sayaka Nakaya (Japanese), Dorothy Elias-Fahn (English)

Lowee's Oracle and Ram and Rom's magic teacher (and the butt of many of their pranks).

    Chika Hakozaki

Chika Hakozaki

Voiced by: Yuka Komatsu (Japanese), Michelle Ann Dunphy (English)

Leanbox's Oracle and a Fangirl and sister figure to Vert (who does not have an actual sister, since Microsoft didn't have any portable platforms).

  • Big "NO!": In the Conquest Ending, she cries and screams "NO!" after Nepgear kills Vert.
  • Drama Queen: Chika tends to go off for the stupidest reasons, especially when she doesn't get her way with Vert.
  • Homoerotic Subtext: She seems to be very obsessive with Vert; they share a bed, Vert knows her well enough that she can tell perfectly when she is or isn't pretending to be sick, and apparently Chika is usually more willing to play around during Vert's massages. Chika can also be seen grabbing Vert's chest while looking extremely happy doing so in the True Ending. Were it not for her occasional denials, this wouldn't even be able to be considered subtext.
  • Large Ham: Is prone to vocalizing her, to put it subtly, "admiration" for her "sister" Vert, and is overall a Drama Queen who is prone to Comical Overreacting.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Whether she admits it or not, there is no mistake that if she does have feelings for Vert she falls directly into this category.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Surprisingly, she's a lot more mature than she lets on, but only when it comes to her work. She did come up with a way to get her people to stop following ASIC all by herself, despite screwing it up.
  • Stripperific: Downplayed; while her dress isn't as revealing as the other characters, it still manages to show a significant amount of skin.
  • Too Dumb to Live: She books a homosexual boy band to perform in front of a crowd that nearly consists of only straight males. Naturally, this does not go out well.
  • Wingding Eyes: Gets hearts in her eyes whenever Vert is involved.
