    Kaze

Titular heroine of the game, a young treasure hunter who accidentally awakens an Ancient Evil named Typhoon and sets out to make things right again, as well as restore her friend Hogo to his body which Typhoon had stolen to bring herself back to the physical realm.

  • Action Girl: She may be a small bunny, but she's got some serious fighting and platforming skills that she puts to good use throughout her journey. The bosses she defeats at the end of each area are several times her size yet she doesn't show any sign of fear while facing them, opening each boss fight by giving them an angry glare.
  • Airplane Arms: She does this while running at maximum speed with the Lizard Mask on.
  • Badass Adorable: Small and cute as a button, yet capable of delivering some major hurt on her enemies and bravely travels across the land to defeat an evil sorceress who stole her friend's body.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Kaze will occasionally turn her attention to the player and gesture them to resume playing if she's left to stand idle for awhile.
  • Cool Big Sis: It's unclear if she is simply Hogo's friend or a sibling, although Hogo's Steam trading card refers to him as her brother. If so, the entire game puts her in this trope as her goal is to restore his physical form.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Kaze sports these while wearing the Tiger and Lizard Masks.
  • Dash Attack: She can utilize this while wearing Tiger Mask (used on land) or Shark Mask (used underwater).
  • Ear Wings: She gains these while wearing the Eagle Mask, which allows her to fly. As a secondary power:
  • Feather Flechettes: She can throw razor-sharp clusters of feathers while sporting the same Mask.
  • Glowing Eyes: Kaze's eyes give off an ominous green glow when she wears the Lizard Mask, which adds to it's already mysterious and malevolent nature as it's the only Mask where the player loses control over her movements beyond jumping and divebombing attack.
  • Ground Pound: She can stomp down mid-jump in order to crush enemies beneath her, reveal gem caches, or bounce off of jelly platforms and helmet-wearing beet enemies.
  • Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: In contrast with everyone else in the game being fully dressed, Kaze wears only her sleeveless jacket, scarf, fingerless gloves and sneakers but no shirt or pants.
  • Heli-Critter: She can use her ears as helicopter blades to glide across greater gaps between platforms.
  • Heroic Mime: Like every other character in the game, Kaze doesn't speak beyond grunts while performing certain actions, yelling out in pain when she dies, or gesturing the player to move on if she's left to stay idle for some time during gameplay.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Kaze unwittingly caused the major conflict in the story by touching the ring which kept Typhoon imprisoned, causing her to break out, trap Hogo inside of the same ring and unleash her power onto the land, thus transforming all the fruits and vegetables into monsters. Naturally, Kaze promptly sets out to make things right again.
  • One-Hit-Point Wonder: As is the tradition of classic platformers from 80s and early 90s that inspired her game, Kaze dies from one hit unless she's got Hogo with her.
  • Righteous Rabbit: A good-natured rabbit who sets out to defeat Typhoon, the evil sorceress who trapped her friend and turned all of the fruits and vegetables in the land into monsters.
  • Scarf of Asskicking: She sports a long red scarf that would make Kamen Rider proud, and is quite a badass capable of defeating monsters several times her size.
  • Spin Attack: Kaze's primary attack.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: While Kaze is pretty small compared to most enemies encountered in the game, she's much taller than her friend Hogo when he's shown in his physical form.
  • Unusual Ears: Kaze's ears are quite versatile; she can use them as helicopter blades to glide across certain distance, as extra pair of hands to grab certain items and climb or slide over ropes, or to propel herself from catapults and slingshots.
  • Wall Jump: She can do this while wearing the Tiger Mask.
    Hogo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hogo.jpg
Kaze's friend (or sibling, depending on the source) and fellow treasure hunter, whose body was trapped by Typhoon inside of a magical ring to restore her physical form and resume her reign of terror. Despite his predicament Hogo can still interact with Kaze, manifesting as a small red head which glides alongside her whenever she picks up the heart powerup and provides her with single extra hit point.

  • Big Damn Heroes: In a rare example, he does this at the beginning of the story rather than it's climax. Just when it seems that Kaze is left alone at the mercy of newly released Typhoon, Hogo appears from the ring, creates a barrier around Kaze and whisks her away to safety.
  • Distressed Dude: His body was stolen by Typhoon and trapped within a magical ring, and Kaze's primary motivation is to return him back to his physical form.
  • Ears as Hair: He styles his ears into a braid in his physical form.
  • Fairy Companion: As a side-effect of his body being trapped inside the ring that Kaze wears, he can only manifest as a small glowing head that floats next to her. He serves as the extra hit point for her, disappearing when she takes damage.
  • Flying Face: How he manifests after Typhoon trapped him inside of a magical ring.
  • Golden Super Mode: While playing on Casual Mode, collecting another extra heart while Hogo is active causes him to turn golden, providing Kaze with two hit points instead of one.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Just look at his image to the right!
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: He's much shorter than Kaze when he's in his own body.
    Typhoon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/typhoon_5.jpg
The main antagonist of the game, Typhoon is an evil sorceress who was imprisoned inside of a magical ring many years ago after she stole the staff from the newly elected sage and went on a rampage across the land. Upon being accidentally released from her imprisonment by Kaze, she traps the body of a young rabbit boy named Hogo inside of same ring in order to restore her own physical form, and once again unleashes her power onto the land by turning all of the fruits and vegetables into her monstrous army.

  • Ambition Is Evil: It is implied that she was passed over as the sage's successor due to her selfish ambitions. Given her actions in the aftermath of the appointment ceremony and during the events of the game, the old sage was proven right.
  • Big Bad: She's the mastermind behind the fruit and vegetable monsters plagueing the land.
  • Body Snatcher: She traps Hogo's body inside of the ring she was once imprisoned in so she can restore herself to physical form.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Her response to being passed over as the old sage's successor is to steal his staff and go on a rampage across the land, turning the denizens' food source into monsters and harassing the innocent.
  • Ears as Hair: She curls her ears in such a manner that they resemble large hair buns. They come undone in the final stage of her boss fight.
  • Empty Eyes: Upon revealing her evil nature and taking control of the sage's staff, Typhoon's eyes turn blank while glowing with magical energy.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: She vyed for the position of the sage, but was passed over due to her selfish ambitions and cruel nature. She could not accept the fact that her fellow trainee, whom she saw as nothing more than a clumsy oaf, was chosen instead due to having more positive qualities needed for the position.
  • Evil Is Bigger: She's the main antagonist of the game and towers over Kaze. She gains some extra height in her One-Winged Angel form in the final stretch of the boss battle.
  • Evil Is Petty: When she was passed over as the successor of the old sage, she did not take it well. See above under Disproportionate Retribution.
  • Fisher Queen: Upon her defeat, all of the veggies and fruit that were turned into monsters become inert again.
  • Inadequate Inheritor: She trained since youth for the position of the sage, but was passed over because of her cruel nature and selfish ambitions. Ironically, she thought of her fellow trainee to be this instead.
  • Kryptonite Factor: Her powers weaken when she's exposed to the red gemstones that Kaze has collected throughout her travels. It's implied this is due to the fact that said gemstones hold the essence of the rabbit monks that sealed her away many years ago.
  • Light Is Not Good: Her magic's primary color appears to be bright blue, but she's a nasty piece of work who seeks to spread terror across the land.
  • Lotus Position: She remains in this pose for the first three stages of her boss fight.
  • Meaningful Name: When she first appears upon being released from her imprisonment, the entire chamber is enveloped by a whirlwind storm. It also manifests during the final stretch of her boss battle.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: She was imprisoned inside of a magical ring by the combined powers of the three animal champions and a group of rabbit monks who gave up their physical forms in the process, creating Wild Masks to be used if she ever rises again, and the red gemstones which severely weaken her powers when they're near her.
  • Super-Power Meltdown: Kaze beats her so badly that her own power goes out of control which, in combination with the energy from the red gemstones around her, obliterates her in a flash of light, seemingly destroying her for good.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Flashbacks show that she once trained under the old rabbit sage alongside the three animal champions, and a young rabbit boy who would one day become the next sage.
  • Would Hurt a Child: She didn't think twice about trapping a young rabbit boy inside of a magical ring in order to restore her own physical form. In one of the flashback cards she was also shown preparing to attack another rabbit boy right before she was sealed away.
    Typhoon's three generals
Trio of monstrous vegetables that are given extra power by Typhoon through the crystals embedded in their foreheads, they serve as bosses of each island where they direct Typhoon's armies of fruit and vegetable monsters. Mother Mona is in charge of Forgotten Grove, Buck Beet is in charge of Frozen Mountains, while Olaf Onion watches over Toxic Tide.

  • Alliterative Name: Mother Mona, Buck Beet and Olaf Onion.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: The crystals on their foreheads that provide them with their power are also their weak spots that Kaze has to hit three times in order to take them down for good.
  • Ax-Crazy: While Buck Beet seems to be more laid back and content with letting his minions do his dirty work, Mother Mona is downright murderously psychotic during her confrontation with Kaze and only gets worse with each stage of the battle, while Olaf laughs maniacally while riding his chariot around the boss arena.
  • Background Boss: During his boss battle, Buck remains seated on his throne in the background and lets the swarms of burning pumpkins and flying beets take care of Kaze, only appearing in the boss arena when Kaze defeats two of the beet enemies he shares his power crystal with, causing him to inflate and float out of control.
  • Chariot Race: Olaf confronts Kaze while riding on a chariot pulled by monster onions.
  • Defeat Means Explosion: Each one of them violently explodes when Kaze defeats them and causes their power crystals to go haywire.
  • Flunky Boss: Each of them often employs mooks encountered through the game to attack Kaze.
  • Mook Promotion: Each of them is a bigger, beefier variant of various enemies Kaze encounters in the game: chestnut (Mother Mona), beet (Buck Beet) and onion (Olaf Onion).
  • Spikes of Villainy: Mother Mona, being a monstrous chestnut like her mooks, is covered in sharp spikes. Unlike her mooks however, she can employ them as deadly projectiles in her battle against Kaze.
  • The Pawns Go First: Olaf's boss battle consists primarily of dodging the onion monsters' attack patterns before he appears. Downplayed in that he himself doesn't attack Kaze, he simply rides around on his chariot while laughing like a maniac and gives Kaze an opening to attack him.
  • Tactical Suicide Boss: Mother Mona would be undefeatable if she simply remained airborne and peppered Kaze with spiky projectiles...however she's so enraged during the battle that she'll occasionally try to divebomb into Kaze and end up stuck in the ground, exposing her weak point for Kaze to attack.
  • Turns Red: During the final sequence of her boss battle, Mother Mona turns red and becomes more aggressive with her attacks.
