    Usagi

Usagi

Stand: Kin Usagi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/d7fcc9d1ca38237ca30d1a4e76bf91331497278212_full.jpg

The Warrior of the Rabbit, Killing Psychotically.

His Stand, Kin Usagi (named for the Japanese words for "gold" and "rabbit"), can turn anyone it kills into nigh-indestructible zombies.

  • Idiot Ball: Despite just seeing Joker phase his hand through a case that was genetically locked, he still tried to have his zombies shoot the Phantom Thief. He's gobsmacked when the bullets just phase through Joker harmlessly.
  • Logical Weakness: Normally his horde can easily pull themselves together from blade or bullet wounds. However, his zombies can be killed by anything that completely destroys their bodies, such as fire or ice.
  • Loophole Abuse: His Stand may take the form of his twin swords that let him turn anyone he kills into a zombie slave, but he doesn't actually have to kill using the blades. When Joker first encounters him in a waiter disguise, Usagi is using poison to kill most of the guests of Luigi DeBorne, using the zombies he makes to deal with the rest.
  • Official Couple: Apparently he's a frequent bed partner of Toshiko, the Boar of the Zodiac assassins.
  • Our Zombies Are Different: Kin Usagi has the necromantic ability to zombify the people it kills, but the end results are similar to voodoo zombies — they're nigh-indestructible unless you completely destroy the body, whether through incineration, freezing, or a thorough stripping of the flesh. Victims who were converted into zombies retain their natural abilities (except for Stand power, since that's tied to a living soul). However, much like regular zombies, Kin Usagi also makes it so anyone they kill will also turn into a zombie.
  • Warm-Up Boss: While the rest of the Zodiac Assassins would by no means be a threat to Joker, Usagi was his first taste of what they are capable of.

    Nezumi

Tsugiyoshi Sumino

Stand: Aka Nezumi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3cfc81ec7bdb143ec8296d25949d95dc1497277824_full.jpg

The Warrior of the Rat, Killing All.

His Stand, Aka Nezumi (named after the Japanese words for "red" and "rat"), can predict up to 100 possible outcomes regarding a decision.

  • Adaptational Angst Downgrade: He's not as frustrated with his power as he is in canon. In fact, he seems to be fully accepting of it.
  • Adaptational Badass: It's implied that he has far more experience and skill than his canon counterpart. Especially since he actually puts in effort to win the Juni Taisen in Phantom Thief Joker Part 2.
  • Combat Clairvoyance: His Stand lets him see up to 100 different possible futures, then select the future that gives him the best outcome for whatever his task is.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: It turns out his Stand is vulnerable to supernatural powers that can literally rend dimensions apart, such as Akechi's Break the Chain.
  • Winds of Destiny, Change!: He can select a different future to occur than what would have happened. It can't always work, however, as he can only see 100 futures at a time.

    Ushi

Eiji Kashii

Stand: Daidai Ushi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/e31c1799c055914eed14821ff0ccae9f1497278007_full.jpg

The Warrior of the Ox, Killing Systematically.

His Stand, Daidai Ushi (named after the Japanese words for "orange" and "ox"), can cut through any solid object without issue.

  • Badass Boast: Utters one to Lupin when he recognizes him.
Eiji: "Then you should know how dead you are. Allow me to remind your bodies!"
  • Frame-Up: Joker tricks Eiji's employer, Jaken, into thinking he stole the Morendrum Medal by placing the tracker on him.
  • Logical Weakness: His Stand can cut through anything solid. Luckily for Joker, he has the ability to not be solid.
  • Not Worth Killing: Implied to be the reason he left Jaken alive after the loan shark tried to have him killed. After he killed Jaken's guards, the man broke down mentally, so Eiji left him for the police to pick up.
  • World's Best Warrior: He's considered the best of the Zodiac Assassins, and a threat to almost anyone he encounters.

    Hitsuji

Sumihiko Tsujiie

Stand: Momo Hitsuji

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/9cc0713129f8d8dee6959d98287936871497278713_full.jpg

The Warrior of the Sheep, Killing Deceptively.

His Stand, Momo Hitsuji (named after the Japanese words for "pink" and "sheep"), gives him full spatial awareness of his surroundings.

  • Adaptational Badass: His canon counterpart didn't have any sort of supernatural ability. Here he's a Stand user with a Boring, but Practical ability.
  • Demolitions Expert: His stock and trade when it comes to assassination. He can set up an explosive trap that leaves little collateral damage and only kills the target, with anyone else getting light wounds at worst.
  • Old Master: He's a skilled assassin well into his golden years.
  • Trap Master: His specialty is setting traps and explosives, and he's skilled enough that he can target specific individuals.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: His Stand can't pick up on conceptual Stand abilities, such as Invisibility, letting Joker get right in his face with him none the wiser.

    Inonoshishi

Toshiko Inō

Stand: Hai Inoshishi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dch1i1vuwaau0wb.jpg

The Warrior of the Boar, Killing Bountifully.

Her Stand, Hai Inoshishi (named after the Japanese words for "gray" and "boar"), manifests as two automatic rifles she can reload at will.

  • Adaptational Nice Guy: She shows far less of her hedonistic nature from canon in this story.
  • The Cameo: She shows up briefly in Phantom Thief Joker Part 2 prior to the Juni Taisen, having been hired by the new nation of Eisneria to defend it against strike teams from two other nations.
  • Idiot Ball: Despite her father warning her not to confront Joker directly and try to take him out discreetly, she falls for the Phantom Thief's trap and gets herself beaten.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's a very attractive and vuluptuous woman.
  • Official Couple: She apparently shared a bed with Usagi on multiple occasions, even declaring that no other man is allowed to get that close to her in that way.

    Niwatori

Ryōka Niwa

Stand: Murasaki Tori

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3256b577bae4fa62ac4dae4e2e9bc3f71497278932_full.jpg

The Warrior of the Chicken, Killing by Pecking.

Her Stand, Murasaki Tori (named after the Japanese words for "purple" and "chicken"), lets her control birds.

  • Animal Eye Spy: With her Stand's power she can see through the eyes of any bird she's controlling, making them great for spy work.
  • Attack Animal: She can control birds with her Stand and send them to attack a target.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Her main weapon is a giant pitchfork. Justified, as that's actually her Stand.
  • Smug Super: She thinks she can handle Joker despite him beating all the previous Zodiac Assassins because of her ability to attack from multiple angles. But as usual, she forgets that such an attack is useless to a man who can walk through walls.
  • Stripperific: Her normal attire is very revealing, being a red two-piece with a cape.
  • Wham Shot: She's the first person in the story to recognize the recently resurrected Leonardo da Vinci.

    Tora

Kanae Aira

Stand: Ao Tora

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/5f18d2e76e1bbef76d9d1fd23a492e121497278091_full.jpg

The Warrior of the Tiger, Killing in a Drunken Rage.

Her Stand, Ao Tora (named after the Japanese words for "blue" and "tiger"), lets her fight at full potential even while she's drunk, increasing her strength depending on her blood-alcohol level. It also suppresses her killer instinct, though Stand users can still detect it by sensing her Stand energy.

  • Absurdly Sharp Claws: Her Stand gives her powerful claws that can rip through almost anything.
  • It's Personal: She took the job to help Joe Bronze hoping to avenge Eiji's loss to Joker.
  • Ship Tease: With Eiji. She even admits to Joker and Violet that if she were more girly, she'd ask him to kiss her.
  • Single Malt Vision: When Joe Bronze wakes her up upon getting Joker's calling card, Kanae drunkenly wonders why there's two of him. And when facing Joker and Violet, she thinks they're spinning in place and that there are nine thieves.
  • Stripperific: She only wears a tiger-striped bikini for her outfit.

    Sharyu

Misaki Yūki

Stand: Ki Saru

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ebbaabf6f6ba8b7d8f0c8648cf3c6cc91497278849_full.jpg

The Warrior of the Monkey, Killing Peacefully.

Her Stand, Ki Saru, is named after the Japanese words for "yellow" and "monkey". With it she can instantly change the state of matter of an object from solid, to liquid, to gas.

  • Badass Pacifist: She prefers not to fight, but when she needs to, she can be deadly. That said, she's pulled off some impressive feats without fighting.
  • Compelling Voice: Besides her Stand, she has an ability that lets her persuade people with a "silver tongue". Though she does note Stand users are immune to it because of how differently their brains are wired.
  • Forgot Flanders Could Do That: While she prefers not to kill or even fight, she is still an assassin, and she does participate in the Juni Taisen in the way that's expected of her, showing that she can rack up just as big a bodycount as the rest of the Zodiacs when she gets serious.
  • Logical Weakness: She can't use her Stand to transfer matter to a state of plasma, since it sits outside the normal triangle of matter states.
  • Sweet and Sour Grapes: She's upset that she couldn't bring about peace for the region around Bialyia, Pokolistan, and Eisnera on her own, but is ultimately able to get over it since the region still became peaceful in a way she could be satisfied with.
  • Take a Third Option: When she was hired to broker peace between the nations of Bialyia and Pokolistan, she immediately recognized talking them down was impossible. So instead she spoke with the soldiers on the front lines and convinced them to form their own nation. Deconstructed in that it only worked because Joker and Violet bankrupted the two diplomats in charge of the war with their recent heist, otherwise they would have joined forces to punish the soldiers for desertion.

    Elder Tatsumi

Nagayuki Tomita

Stand: Kuro Ryu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aa423cd21bc9bb807f074a6b54b5bc2d1497278306_full.jpg

The Warrior of the Dragon, Killing for Money.

His Stand, Kuro Ryu (named after the Japanese words for "black" and "dragon"), lets him levitate in the air, going as high as commercial airliners.

  • A Fool for a Client: After the incident regarding Marlon and Drex, in which he and his brother killed each other's client, he has to defend both himself and his brother in court. This in spite of the Zodiac Assassins being above the law due to their contracts being handled purely by the United Nations.
  • Beat Them at Their Own Game: Violet is able to knock him out of the air by using her own Stand to burst through the air at high speed.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Definitely the "Responsible" between him and his brother, often being the brains of their operations, and being more given to think through his strategy in combat.
  • Freeze Ray: His main weapon for assassination.
  • Only in It for the Money: He and his brother only care about the payout from their jobs.
  • Required Secondary Powers: It's harder to see at high altitudes than you might think, so Nagayuki's Stand lets him see clearly even at the maximum height his Stand can levitate him.

    Younger Tatsumi

Takeyasu Tomita

Stand: Gin Hebi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3fd2c7cd9ebf2baf89e884b84d1aeb7d1497278423_full.jpg

The Warrior of the Snake, Killing for Money.

His Stand, Gin Hebi, is named after the Japanese words for "silver" and "snake". It lets the user track anyone by their body heat through solid objects.

  • Dumbass Has a Point: He's more reckless than dumb, but he does know that both he and his brother Nagayuki need to keep to their contracts while Playing Both Sides in order to maximize their payout.
  • Fire-Breathing Weapon: His main weapon is a flamethrower.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The "Foolish" in this case, being more hot-headed and just rushing into a fight.
  • Irony: Joker gets the drop on him with Invisibility, a power often associated with snakes in mythology and fiction.
  • Logical Weakness: He can't sense a living being that's in midair for whatever reason. Also, his Stand is no substitute for eyes, so an invisible enemy can get the drop on him.
  • Not Worth Killing: A variation. He's so drained from losing to Joker and getting the Golden Keep swiped when he and his brother had their eyes on it that he decides not to burn the building down.

    Dotsuku

Michio Tsukui

Stand: Shiro Inu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/00bc95033ec3396af55353f19bb1a7a61497279093_full.jpg

The Warrior of the Dog, Killing by Biting.

His Stand, Shiro Inu, is named after the Japanese words for "white" and "dog". Taking the form of a set of fangs, the user can bite into someone to inject poison directly into their body.

  • Hoist by His Own Petard: He manages to bite Violet during their fight, but she'd already turned into light energy by that point. Meaning Michio had essentially bitten into a flashbang grenade.
  • Mundane Utility: Since his Stand is strong enough to break through metal, he can use them to disarm an enemy by biting their weapons in half or pierce through body armor.
  • Poisonous Person: His main ability is to inject poison into a target via his Stand.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Michio's Stand renders him immune to poison, ensuring he won't die from his own Stand.

    Uma

Yoshimi Sōma

Stand: Mido Uma

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/0174a5d92d14ba3522fbd46656787dde1497278526_full.jpg

The Warrior of the Horse, Killing Silently.

His Stand, Mido Uma (named after the Japanese words for "green" and "horse"), causes his cellular structure to rapidly adapt to any external stimuli, especially when he's in mortal peril.

  • Adaptational Badass: He has much more confidence in himself than canon.
  • Genre Savvy: He's well aware of how the other Zodiac Assassins lost to Joker and Violet, and tries to warn the High Priest of Padar of the threat they pose.
  • Hidden Depths: When Joker renders him unconscious by using his Stand to gently squeeze Yoshimi's lungs, he suggests Yoshimi dream of his favorite hobby, which he does... And it turns out he enjoys building model ships in bottles.
  • Ignored Expert: He's a seasoned warrior and assassin, yet the High Priest ignores his advice regarding Joker and Violet.
  • Logical Weakness: He still needs oxygen to breathe, no matter how much his body mutates to adapt to his current conditions. So cutting off his air flow is a good way of at least rendering him unconscious.
