Main Characters
In General
- Battle Harem: Most of the girls in his harem are capable adventurers or members of the Hero Academy. Even Lola and Alice, who are usually non-combatants, show an eagerness to get violent if Noir is in danger.
- Harem-Powered: Noir's abilities require an ever-growing harem to work to their fullest. He only gains Life Points by doing hedonistic things, and there's a steep value of diminishing returns for doing the same things over and over with the same girls. Also, his unique Sage skill requires kisses to make the headaches tolerable.
- Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Why most of the girls in Noir's harem are interested in him. He's a very nice and earnest guy. Case in point, when his female classmates say that they're counting on him to protect them from peeping toms, Noir almost dies to live up to their trust, and he's thus rewarded by not only taking a bath with the girls (blindfolded) but having bare breasts rubbed against his face.
- Violently Protective Girlfriend: All of Noir's harem will show up to defend him with their lives, but of special note are Emma, who has sworn to stay with Noir to the end no matter what, Lola, who is a non-combatant but is willing to use her monstrous Super-Strength if Noir is in danger, and Alice, who is usually a meek little sister, but is willing to murder anything that stands in the way of her brother's love.
Noir Stargazer
The Hero/Adventurer who's surrounded by girls.
The protagonist.
- Accidental Pervert: Invoked, Justified, Downplayed and Deconstructed. The first time, Maria fell on top of him due to her "Sixteenth Death" curse acting up while they were training. Afterward, Noir crafts a "lucky pervert" skill so he can soak up LP from simply walking around, until a gust of wind blows up the skirt of every woman in the area, including an octogenarian, thus making Noir Nerf the skill so it only triggers A.) Rarely, and B.) Outside combat. After all, tripping into a girl's chest while fighting a fire-breathing dragon could be a very bad thing.
- Always Save the Girl: Combined with Chronic Hero Syndrome. There's yet another good reason why he's a Chick Magnet. He sees a cute, innocent girl in trouble, he will do anything in his power to come to her aid, even if the situation appears hopelessly suicidal.
- Batman Grabs a Gun: Twice.
- He swore an oath to Olivia and himself that he would clear the titular dungeon alone. When it becomes physically impossible to cross between the 13th and 14th floor solo, he brings in Emma.
- He has a very strict internal Thou Shall Not Kill policy with humans and humanoid monsters, no matter how reprehensible, but when he found himself up against a dungeon synthesized impostor to Olivia who had managed to escape the dungeon and get into town, he went for the kill. This breaks Olivia's curse and sets her free from the dungeon.
- Blessed with Suck: At the start, the "Great Sage" ability he was born with was all but useless. In return for giving him super-human knowledge, it would give him massive debilitating migraines. Although Noir does ultimately wind up crafting a "Headache Resistance/Immunity" skill to compensate, he can still be laid low if what he asks is too taxing.
- Cast from Money: Noir eventually crafts a skill that allows him to convert gold to LP, but the conversion rate is so horrifically poor that he prefers to stick to getting LP from his numerous attractive love interests.
- Category Traitor: His male classmates turn on him and call him a "traitor" for refusing to go along with their plan to peep on the bathing women at a hot spring.
- Chick Magnet: He's very attractive to women, and it's justified in that he's handsome, gentle, kind, and if you're a cute, innocent girl, he will move heaven and earth if need be to come to your aid.
- Childhood Friend Romance: He and Emma have known each other since they were little.
- Chivalrous Pervert: Noir may have quite the imagination, even before getting his special skills from Olivia, but he would never, ever willingly take advantage of a woman without her explicit, freely-given, fully-informed, consent.
- Dark Is Not Evil: His name "Noir" literally means "Black," but he's a good and wholesome individual.
- Harem Seeker: Justified. Since he gains the Life Energy he needs to keep living by engaging in erotic acts with the opposite sex, and the "diminishing rate of return" is steep when just playing around with the same girl over and over again, he needs a harem of beauties to keep stirring the pot.
- Heroic RRoD: Besides the headaches he gets from overusing his "Great Sage" skill, spending too much LP at once or running dangerously low on LP can leave him unconscious.
- Hour of Power: In order to gain an edge over the impostor Olivia, he crafted a [Sacrifice] skill that boosts his abilities immensely, at the price of sacrificing a skill he no longer needs, but this boost doesn't last very long. He has to sacrifice an S-ranked skill to last just five minutes.
- Humble Hero: Praise makes him very uncomfortable, despite being one of the ways to gain more LP.
- Imagination Based Super Power: His "Create" skill allows him to create any skill he can imagine, if he's willing and able to pay the LP cost.
- Let's You and Him Fight: Dryad that looks like a child version of Emma in trouble, being attacked by a level 254 golden bee? Lure over a pack of 6 level 100 or so silver wolves and let them deal with it, killing whoever is left standing.
- Manly Tears: Sheds Tears of Joy when he reunites with Olivia after freeing her from her chains.
- Mate or Die: While it hasn't reached quite that far, he must engage in erotic acts with members of the opposite sex to keep his LP total up because if his LP reaches zero, he dies. Even using too big a percentage of his LP at once leaves him visibly shaken.
- Nice Guy: Very much so, to the point in Episode 10 when he actually defends the girls of his class from being seen by perverts.
- One of the Girls: When his class visits a hot spring, Noir has to choose between siding with his fellow male students and helping their plan to peep on the naked women, or honoring the trust the girls expressed in him and protecting their dignity. When he refuses to help them, the boys declare him a Category Traitor and fight him alongside Elna. Noir uses all but his last remaining Life Points to protect the girls, and they reward him by letting him be the only guy to accompany them during their bathing hours.
- Semantic Superpower: All three of the skills he gained from Olivia basically work by adding or changing the wording or meaning of a term or phrase. For example, by changing a skill's cost from lifespan to money, you can completely alter what that skill does. In addition, Noir also seems to have a lot of leeway to decide what a "skill" is; he "edited" Emma's body to give her small breasts and then "created" new ones to replace them.
- Story-Breaker Power: The skills he gains from Olivia, "Create", "Edit" and "Grant" can allow him to come up with whatever skill he pleases and empower those around him to boot. It's held back by its Cast from Hit Points factor, as more dramatic alterations are more costly and can threaten his life.
- Thanks for the Mammary: Several times, probably thanks to "Lucky Pervert" skill mentioned prior.
- When he catches Elna after being knocked back in the hot springs arc, his hands wind up on her chest.
- While training with Leila, he accidentally slips and lands right on top of her with one hand on her breast. The other girls see this and allow Noir to grope them as well.
- Thou Shall Not Kill: While he has no issue killing mindless beasts or inhuman monsters that can not be reasoned with, he is extremely reluctant to kill any humans or humanoid monsters, no matter how Axe-Crazy or how much of a Card-Carrying Villain they are, even if they come at him and his with lethal force. Even he occasionally admits, internally, how Stupid Good a stance that is.
- Uptown Girl: His father's a bottom-ranked baronet while Emma and Maria are from higher-ranked and much wealthier noble families.
- Young Entrepreneur: His dream is to set up a shop selling monster materials he gleans from clearing the titular dungeon. At age 16, after a few heroic accomplishments, he does finally get to make that happen, and the shop's goods sell out within a few hours of the grand opening.
Alice Stargazer
I'll always be here for you, big brother!

Noir's younger sister.
- BFS: In the anime, she never uses it in battle, but draws out a huge broadsword when she thinks she needs to kill the other girls to keep them from taking Noir.
- Big Brother Attraction: She wants very much for her relationship with Noir to be more than brother/sister. Noir is aware of it, but does his best to delude himself otherwise.
- Big Sister Instinct: Despite being the younger sister, she's very possessive and protective of Noir.
- Casual Kink: Noir finds himself liking it when she steps on him. How that came to be is anyone's guess.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: You wanna join Noir's harem? You've got to pass her smell test first.
- Crazy-Prepared: Later chapters reveal that she keeps her feet clean and sweet smelling in the unlikely event Noir develops some kind of foot fetish. Even Noir's Selective Obliviousness has problems tuning that out.
- Dude Magnet: It's implied that Nell and his bullies had crushes on her.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: ZigZagged. At the beginning of the series, she's way ahead of her older brother, already set for life after she graduates from the Hero Academy and even promises to take care of him afterward. However, she coasts through her studies while Noir starts racking up accomplishments and money after learning to properly utilize his skills.
- Little Sister Heroine: She's completely affectionate towards her big brother.
- My Significance Sense Is Tingling: Played for Laughs. In the omakes, she can sense when Noir is getting intimate with other girls.
- When Maria was partnered up with Noir at the academy, in her classroom, she wakes up, voices concern that some other girl is trying to snatch Noir away, and then plops right back down to sleep. The teacher tells the rest of the class to leave her be because he's seen it way too often.
- When Noir tries to increase his life points at the harem competition, she could feel it, and then felt another surge when Maria falls in love with him.
- School Uniforms are the New Black: Almost never seen without her school uniform.
- Teen Genius: She can, and does, get straight A's in school, despite sleeping through class.
- Worth It: In an omake, Noir catches a cold and accidentally kisses her right before falling unconscious. She gets his cold too, but takes it with a smile.
- Yandere: When she catches Noir getting too "comfortable" with his harem (in particular, getting a kiss from Emma), she draws a sword and proclaims that it's time for everyone to fight to the death over him, complete with glowing red eyes and a Slasher Smile.
Emma Brightness
Noir's primary love interest.
Noir's Childhood Friend.
- Be Careful What You Wish For: Learns how Noir's power works when she off-handedly asked to have smaller breasts, and he granted her wish.
- Big-Breast Pride: Downplayed as she doesn't exactly show off her large breasts, but she seems pretty aware of them being her strongest physical appeal point compared to the other girls, and is heavily mortified when Noir shrinks them.
- Blow You Away: Uses wind magic in addition to her dagger skills.
- Breast Expansion: Inverted. When she complains that her huge breasts cause back pain, Noir shrinks them to mosquito bites and she demands that he undo the change.
- Childhood Friend Romance: Grew up alongside Noir, openly asks him to kiss her, on the lips, and at the drop of a hat.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: She may be resigned to the fact that Noir needs a harem to stay alive, but she clearly does not like it and insists on being in first place.
- Conflict Ball: For no readily apparent reason, she snaps and runs off when she catches Noir helping Nell Overlock, and sees Nell's sister Leila Overlock thank him for his aid, asking if he'd be even the tiniest bit concerned if she were to go off and mess around with another guy. Noir is so stunned, he can't even react properly. The light novel indicates this isn't the first time it's happened, and Noir's learned she's entirely irrational at this point and can only be reasoned with once she's cooled down.
- D-Cup Distress: Briefly. She complains about her breasts being too large and causing her back pain. When Noir asks if she'd like them smaller, and says yes, she's shocked and enraged when he makes her flat, angrily demanding that he make them big again.
- Dual Wielding: She wields dual daggers in combat.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Upon seeing Luna for the first time, she's envious of her beauty and wishes Noir had never met her.
- Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Golden haired blonde, Nice Girl.
- It Was a Gift: The hairpin she wears was given to her by Noir as a birthday present.
- Light Is Good: Her name "brightness" means light and she's a nice, upstanding, young girl.
- Nice Girl: As long as you're not a pretty girl trying to take away her spot as Noir's number one, she's unflinchingly gentle and kind.
- Undying Loyalty: When they were kids, Noir proclaimed that he and Emma would be "together forever, til death do us part", though it's clear he meant it in a naïve, platonic way. Over the years, Noir forgot he ever said that, but Emma never forgot and continuously vows to stay by Noir's side, no matter the hardship or the danger.
Maria Fianna Albert
Noir, will you take my hand?

A daughter of a local duke that Noir meets upon entering the Hero Academy, and who seeks him out, to his shock.
- Blue Blood: Daughter of a duke, but a nice and sweet girl.
- The Chains of Commanding: She takes her duties as the duke's daughter seriously and cares deeply for her subjects.
- Dangerous 16th Birthday: Literally has a curse that will kill her when she turns 16.
- Good Parents: Her parents are also fine, upstanding people, despite being dukes, the highest rank. They don't let something as trivial as title get in the way of Maria's social circles. To top it all off, they openly ship Maria and Noir together. The fact that he's directly responsible for breaking the lethal curse on her was more than good enough for them to consider him a future son-in-law.
- Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Of a lighter shade of blonde than Emma, but just as sweet and nice, if not moreso.
- I Owe You My Life: Thanks to Noir and Luna, she gets to live past her sixteenth birthday and promises to repay him for the rest of her life.
- Incorruptible Pure Pureness: She remains kind and optimistic as ever, living her life to the fullest despite her impending death.
- The Mistress: Despite Noir being anything but monogamous, he prefers to do erotic stuff with Maria away from the eyes of the rest of his harem, purely for the thrill of being secret lovers. She finds the idea charming and happily plays along.
- Samaritan Relationship Starter: On her way to Hero Academy, she spots Noir taking down a thief, who robbed an orphan child, with a custom "rock bullet." This is the primary reason she started being interested in him.
- What You Are in the Dark: The reason she approaches Noir in the Hero Academy is that she was watching from the shadows of the adventurer's guild, Odin, and witnessed how he carries himself. She'd rather hang out with a "beggar noble" Baronet who is sincere than high-ranking nobles who are only good for waving their titles around.
- Your Days Are Numbered: A curse cast upon her ancestor would kill her on her sixteenth birthday. Thankfully, Noir and the others manage to remove it just in the nick of time.
Lola Meltrose
A wager is a wager...
The receptionist Noir meets at the adventurer's guild and to whom he exclusively goes, by contract.
- The Bet: Not believing that Noir is a disciple of Olivia, she bets that she will flip her skirt in his face if the "appraise" orb says he is, and he'd be banned if he's lying. When she finds out the truth, she not only flips her skirt, as promised, she bashfully says "I love you, Noir."
- Cassandra Truth: Inverted. She doesn't believe Noir is Olivia's disciple, and denies it strongly. At least until she gets hard evidence.
- Entitled to Have You: Enforced. Noir's her exclusive adventurer! No other receptionist is to meet him, especially that ... Sarah!
- Foreshadowing: In the manga, she interrupts a romantic moment between Emma and Noir by throwing a book at them with surprising force, and effortlessly hip checks Emma out of the way, hinting at her Super-Strength.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: Is not only Luna's best friend, but sees nothing wrong with comforting the latter by nesting her head in her bosom.
- Informed Attribute: We're told that she wears a lot of makeup, particularly on days when she expects Noir to visit, and runs away in a desperate attempt to hide her looks when he accidentally catches her without it. Noir himself says that she looked pretty different (but still cute) without her makeup, and Emma later mockingly calls her "CakeFace". We've never seen Lola's face without makeup, and even with the amount we're told she wears, she doesn't actually look any different than the rest of the female cast.
- Selective Obliviousness: She spent her entire guild receptionist career doing her best to ignore that she has super-human strength. She even tries to deny it when being escorted by Noir, Luna, even Leila, she takes down a monster the three of them together couldn't even scratch as their strongest blows, combined, just bounced right off, by slicing it in half!
- Sex for Services: Downplayed but present. In exchange for Noir being her exclusive adventurer, she offers all sorts of erotic bonuses, in addition to the normal rewards, for a job well done on guild requests. It's a win-win as far as Noir is concerned.
- Sexy Secretary: Sexy receptionist, close enough.
- Stronger Than They Look: She may look like a frail girl, and even believe she is, but she's not. She's got the "Monstrous Strength" skill at rank S!
- Unskilled, but Strong: She's got [Monstrous Strength] at rank S, the highest rank, but no corresponding martial skill to go with it.
Luna Heela
Curses are scary!
A powerful healer Noir recruits to help rescue Maria from the "sixteenth death" curse.
- Cast from Lifespan: Like her mother, her curse breaking ability shaves away her lifespan in return for its use.
- Cast from Money: Noir alters her skill to cost gold instead of lifespan, allowing her to save Maria without dying in the process.
- Casual Kink: She wants to be Noir's slave...err one of his party, and be dominated by him.
- Cowardly Lion: She has the cowardice skill, which causes her to turn into a huge coward when her mana runs out.
- Fantastic Firearms: Her pistols fire spells rather than bullets.
- Half-Human Hybrid: Is half-elf. Her mother was full elf.
- Healing Shiv: Her "Heal Shot" skill allows her to heal others by shooting them.
- In the Blood: Her curse-breaking ability was inherited from her mother's side of the family.
- Mage Marksman: Fights with a gun that shoots bullets made of magic.
- Meaningful Name: Her surname sounds like "Healer".
- Missing Mom: Her mother died due to using her curse-breaking ability too much.
- The Rival: She wants to be Noir's number one love interest, usurping Emma. Emma is not amused.
- Rose-Haired Sweetie: Pink hair, nice girl.
- Stripperific: Wears the most revealing default outfit among Noir's harem, sporting a Cleavage Window, midriffs exposed and short shorts.

A monster Noir befriends on the fifth level of the hidden dungeon.
- Dub Name Change: He's called "Tigerson" in the English version.
- Fantastic Arousal: That flower on his head is very sensitive.
- I Just Want to Have Friends: He's had an incredibly lonely existence in the dungeon, and is desperate for company that doesn't immediately point swords at him. Vasiel, the elf, and Noir, are the only two out of 990,000 existences to do so.
- I Will Wait for You: Noir encountered him waiting for his friend Vasiel for 350 years. The poor elf had been turned into a zombie during that time. When Noir restores and brings Vasiel back to him, he's very grateful.
- It Can Think: Unlike all the other dungeon monsters, he actually can be reasoned with.
- Panthera Awesome: A giant and powerful black lion.
- Pet Monstrosity: Is viewed as such by the rest of society. Noir considers him a friend, peer, and equal.
- Punny Name: The "Tora" in Toramaru means "Tiger." He's a lion. So he's a lion named "Tiger."
- Undying Loyalty: For him to have guarded the dungeon for three and a half centuries for his friend, definitely.
Guild Odin
Sarah Longhram
It's not cheating if you don't get caught! BWAHAHAHAHA!
Lola's rival receptionist.
- Bad Boss: Unlike Lola, she does not care about her adventurers' well being in the slightest. Half-way through the contest, she boasts about having a much higher score and then brags that Lola's not desperate enough, showcasing a group of adventurers so exhausted that it looks like a gentle breeze would kill them.
- The Bet: After a great deal of goading, to the point Lola's so angry, she has to be physically restrained from punching Sarah in the face, she puts forward a bet that if her pool of adventurers can beat Lola's, then Noir would become another one of her adventurers (read submissive sex-toys), with Lola's blessing. Lola's victory would only be a promise that Sarah would keep her hands off Lola's adventurers from then on. If Lola wasn't too angry to think straight, it's unlikely she would have agreed to it.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: All smiles in public, sheer terror behind closed doors.
- Casual Kink: Among her titles in the manga are "Sadist", "Dominate Person", and her "Golden Shower" skill is Rank A.
- Hypocrite: After losing the competition to be the top-ranked receptionist, she's quick to accuse Lola of cheating.
- Loophole Abuse: She steals adventurers from Lola's pool, and the adventurer's accomplishments, purely to raise her own rank, by bribing them with the gifts she's supposed to offer her own adventurers for a job well-done, but since Lola has no proof, continuously gets away with it and rubs Lola's nose in it.
- Made Out to Be a Jerkass: What she loves to do to Lola. She steals the accomplishments of Lola's adventurers, boasts how much "better" a receptionist she is, puts down Lola about it, and then acts like the wounded party if Lola so much as complains.
- Really Gets Around: She has so much sex, her "Cow Girl" and "Doggy Style" skills have reached Rank A. In story, this means she has a lot of bed partners.
- Refuge in Audacity: She is completely shameless in provoking Lola. After Lola wins the competition, she goes and tempts Noir, right in front of her, and everyone else, by dropping an erotic "reward ticket" right in his hands. Noir's too busy overheating to react.
- Smug Snake: Loves to flaunt her "accomplishment" of poaching Lola's adventurer pool for herself, confident that Lola can't prove it.
- The Vamp: As far as she's concerned, sex exists for one thing, and only one thing, to be used as a weapon to browbeat and crush any enemies or rivals. The thought that sex could be mutually enjoyable experience is a joke only a Naïve Newcomer would believe.
Guild Ramuh
Leila Overlock
Watch out, Noir. I'm coming!

The most promising member of Odin's rival guild, Ramuh.
- The Ace: The most promising of Ramuh's adventurers, with rank A in martial arts and "Magic Fist."
- Adaptational Late Appearance: In the anime, she is first introduced at Count Bourne's party, providing bodyguard duties. She later becomes a New Transfer Student to the Hero Academy though in previous adaptations, she was already a student there.
- Bare-Fisted Monk: Fights primarily without weapons and can apply magic to her fists for greater impact.
- Big Sister Instinct: Don't mess with her little brother, Nell.
- Close-Range Combatant: Deadly up close but lacks any long-range combat options. This puts her at a disadvantage against Phantom Thief's summoned Flame Bird, which can fly out of her reach.
- Dating Catwoman: When she's finally introduced in the light novel, she develops romantic feelings for Noir, despite being a high-ranking member of a rival adventurer's guild, and Noir happily reciprocates for obvious reasons.
- Enemy Mine: Although she and Noir are from rival guilds, they do occasionally work together. The most prominent example is when a pair of bandits known as "Phantom Thief" target the estate of a Count where Layla is the bodyguard and Noir is the invited guest. When said thieves decide to make Emma a Living MacGuffin, Leila and Noir chase down and and battle them, defeating them after a very tough fight.
- Invoked when Leila takes Noir's advice to have a common enemy for her team to unite against: Noir himself.
- Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: If not for her guild and Noir's being rivals, she wouldn't have any issue hanging out with him, and she's a good, kind woman who happens to be blonde.
- Samaritan Relationship Starter: She begins having feelings for Noir because he came to her littler brother's rescue, destroyed the Misfortune debuff, and refused any reward.
- Shipper on Deck: Amazingly, she's a Emma+Noir shipper. She sometimes gives him romantic advice on their relationship.
- Spirited Competitor: Fights for the thrill of the challenge.
- Token Good Teammate: Of the entirety of adventurers from the guild Ramuh, she's the only one who acts decently on a consistent basis. It's at the point that Noir has repeatedly invited her to Odin, promising to sponsor her, but she declines, for fear of being seen as a traitor by Ramuh, and being viewed with suspicion at best by Odin.
- We ARE Struggling Together: She doesn't get along with her guild mates.
Hero Academy
Lenoir Blue Don

A rather uppity count who briefly joins Noir's party, alongside Emma, so the three of them could qualify for Hero Academy.
- Bribing Your Way to Victory: Like most of the contenders, she bought the monster materials required for the entrance exam.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She's rather rude and abrupt to Noir, like most nobles, but beneath it all has a genuinely decent personality.
- Stealing the Credit: Justified. Noir gives her the credit for defeating the Death Reaper and collecting its materials, so he could hide the fact that he's dungeon diving in a hidden dungeon. She's genuinely grateful to him for it, and becomes much, much less vitriolic.
Amane

Maria's bodyguard.
- Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: Black hair, and very aloof, aside from her relationship with Maria. She becomes much nicer once Noir manages to save her mistress.
- Can Not Keep A Secret: Blabbed Maria's embarrassing admiration of Noir to Noir and company, while Maria was in the same room, when she thought Maria was unconscious, despite being told to keep it secret.
- Undying Loyalty: To Maria.
Nell Overlock
Alice, is.. is he your boyfriend?
The younger brother of Leila Overlock.- Butt-Monkey: Was cursed with a "Misfortune" debuff by Ghijis, until Noir removed it.
- Hopeless Suitor: He apparently has feelings for Alice. She's a total bro-con.
- One Degree of Separation: He's Alice's fellow student, and her friend.
- Shrinking Violet: Rare male example. He's incredibly meek and shy.
Ghijis Ovatria

A guy who, along with a gang, loves to bully Nell, and woe to whoever comes to Nell's aid.- Bullying a Dragon: Nell is way stronger than him and his whole gang. If not for Nell's shyness and moral fiber, he'd be cleaning the floor with them on a regular basis.
- Fat Bastard: Overweight and a major jerk.
- The Jinx: Exploited. If he touches you with his left hand, he can inflict a permanent "Misfortune" debuff on you at will. At least until Noir came along and "fixed" that.
- Mugging the Monster: When Noir outed him, he fired a "rock bullet" at Noir, trying to bully him into silence. Noir retaliated with a "Rock Bullet 40" which is a bigger, heavier, and faster version, not only deflecting the original attack, but hitting his stomach so hard he was forced to vomit by the impact.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When they realized they didn't have a prayer of beating Noir in a straight up fight, he and his gang fled the scene, promising to behave. Noir happily brags that they won't be able to do the "misfortune" mischief again, ever.

- Boyfriend Bluff: With Noir in an omake, when she's called in for a marriage interview.
- Casual Kink: Her idea of "rewarding" students is to sit on them, as seen in the page image. Noir grows to like it...
- Child Soldier: She started being a mercenary soldier at age 7! That being said, she doesn't seem to be too troubled by her past. She even has fond memories of her old line of work.
- Drill Sergeant Nasty: Her training method is harsh, but the adventuring world is harsher, and you need the skills she teaches you to survive.
- Did They or Didn't They?: It's intentionally left vague what happened after the massage but given that she sat on Noir "a bunch" afterwards and he got heaps of LP, let's just say the implication is obvious.

The woman trapped in the titular dungeon, and the one who gifted Noir with the LP consuming "Create", "Edit", and "Remove" skill.- Adaptational Modesty: In the original source, she's buck naked, due to all her clothes having rotted away. In the manga and anime, she wears a simple dress that somehow survived the ravages of time, and looks hardly practical for dungeon diving.
- And I Must Scream: Chained to a dungeon wall for two centuries, and Noir is the first person she's seen in all that time.
- The Atoner: It's revealed that she shared her wisdom, and chose Noir to be her apprentice, not just because it's the only form of human contact she has, but because she deeply regrets not teaching a similar boy properly 200 years ago, before she became trapped in a dungeon, and the poor boy might have lived if she taught him better.
- Blessed with Suck: No need for food, water, or worrying about her biological functions, but chained to a dungeon wall, starved for company. Fortunately, Noir came along...
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Downplayed. Though she is the one that encourages Noir to be a hedonist in order to maximize his LP, when he spends too much time enjoying himself in female company, she becomes upset about it. At one point she even tells him that he "reeked" because of the smell of girls lingering on him, and demanded a kiss because he gave the other girls one. But then, not satisfied with the mild peck on the forehead he gave her, she tells him to "get lots of practice" with other girls so that when the time comes, he can give her a kiss that really satisfies her.
- Evil Knockoff: A carbon-copy of Olivia made by the very chains binding her is one of the Arc Villain before she can finally free, and the Final Boss of the anime adaptation.
- Harem Seeker: Like Noir, she had a large harem of her own in her heyday, and for the same reason. She doesn't hesitate to boast about it, to Noir's chagrin.
- Hero of Another Story: In her heyday, she was a powerful adventurer who founded the adventurer's guild, Odin, that Noir signs up with.
- Informed Ability: Olivia is supposedly an all-powerful person, but the one time we see her in action, she gets completely dominated.
- Level Drain: Over the 200 years that she's been trapped in the dungeon, the cursed chains kept her alive at the price of copying her powers and draining her strength. By the time Noir frees her, she's basically an ordinary civilian, aside from the Edit, Create, and Grant skills that mark her unique existence.
- Made Out to Be a Jerkass: When in the town of Hornest, Noir finds out that the people of Hornest view her as a monster for "attacking" their local hero. After a bit of investigation, including an encounter with said "hero's" home village full of cannibals, and the guy's own diary, Noir learns that Olivia is the one who was attacked and was defending herself, but before Olivia could land the final blow, the townsfolk showed up and chased her off and then Gaien, the Immortality Seeker so-called "hero" made himself look like the victim saying she attacked him for unknown reasons.
- My Greatest Failure: In Volume One's first extra chapter, she deeply regrets not teaching a boy properly in adventuring. She believes that if she had, the boy would have lived.
- The Pollyanna: She has a remarkably cheerful and positive outlook, which almost never goes away. Except after the death of her first student. Even after Noir finds out that the chains holding her have been causing her pain this entire time, Olivia never once shows distress or concern. She says she kept up the act so that Noir wouldn't push himself to try and save her.
- Sexy Backless Outfit: The dress she wears in the manga doesn't cover her back.
- Sexy Mentor: Which she plays to the hilt. She explicitly states an intent to kiss (and more) with Noir at a future date, and constantly flirts and teases with him.
- Shameless Fanservice Girl: Loves to tease, taunt, and sexually entice Noir every chance she gets.
- The Tease: She frequently teases Noir and likes to know that he finds her attractive.
- Telepath: The cursed chains left her unable to move or even speak, so the only thing she can do is communicate using her mind.

A dryad Noir meets in the dungeon's 7th floor.- Blessed with Suck: Being a dryad gives her a long life, and leaves her humanoid form ignored by the monsters of the seventh floor, allowing her to explore every nook and cranny, while laughing and playing to her heart's content. Unfortunately, this comes at the cost of being bound to a tree at the center of the dungeon floor, and if the tree dies, so does she. She also feels pain from any damage done to said tree.
- Damsel in Distress: Noir encounters her because she asks for help dealing with a "Golden Bee" monster that stung her tree at least twice a day to suck out her life for its own ends.
- Innocent Fanservice Girl: She doesn't just look like a younger version of Emma, she thinks like one. As such, she doesn't comprehend why crawling into a hole in a way that allows a guy to see up your dress is a bad idea.
- I Owe You My Life: Out of gratitude for saving her life, she gives Noir some very valuable rewards, and shows him the stairs to the eighth floor. Although Noir likes the reward, her smile is her greatest treasure to him.
- When She Smiles: Oh, her smile is precious, on either side of the fourth wall.
- You Remind Me of X: She's a spitting image of Emma when Emma was younger. Initially, this made Noir suspect that she was gleaming the image from his mind.

A Brother–Sister Team of burglars that target nobles, openly announce that said nobles are being targeted, and then burst in, making it a flashy performance, stealing whatever they want and leaving said noble and his guards humiliated.- Abhorrent Admirer: In the manga, Tom is introduced slobbering over a portrait of Emma. It only gets worse from there.
- Adaptational Badass: In the original novel, Tom was K'O'd when Emma blasted him. In the manga, he's dazed and confused that Emma would spurn his "love," but is otherwise still fully conscious so Noir has to take him down.
- Adaptational Villainy: Tom is much worse in the manga than the original web-novel. In the web-novel, he doesn't smack Emma around because he doesn't get the chance. In the manga, after he uses gravity magic to pin down Noir, Emma, and Leila Overlock, he smacks a helpless Emma around, yelling at her for "turning her back on her husband", himself, cuts off her dress with a knife, as a bit of Cruel Mercy, showing Noir the body he's never going to enjoy, and takes Emma's prized hair-pin, because Noir gave it to her as a gift when both were children, throws it away, and loudly proclaims that it's not "worthy" of her, planning on forcing her to wear some gaudy, stolen jewelry later.
- Adaptation Expansion: Tom has a much larger role in the manga than the original novel.
- Domestic Abuse: His idea of a "happy marriage" is slapping his intended wife around for disagreeing with him, or just for kicks.
- The Dividual: The brother Tom and the sister Phan work and are almost always seen together.
- Entitled Bastard: And Entitled Bitch. Once they set their sights on some object or person of value, they automatically presume it's rightfully theirs, no objections tolerated.
- Entitled to Have You: Tom to Emma. He pointedly insisted she was going to be his wife, no objections. If she refused, a little Mind Rape wouldn't hurt. Of course, Emma heard that and was clearly not amused.
- Freudian Excuse: Tom's mother abandoned him as a child and his reason for going after Emma was because she reminds him of his mother.
- Glory Seeker: In the manga, Tom is desperate to be as famous, or infamous as possible.
- Gonk: Tom is so gaunt, he looks like a skeleton with an ill-fitting latex suit slapped over it.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: Shutting off his gravity manipulation magic is too high an LP cost for Noir, but when Tom shouts "I will give you your worst nightmare!", Noir gets the idea to use Tom's Master of Illusion ability against himself, which is not only much cheaper, but has much, much more horrifying prospects...
- Master of Illusion: The manga has him use a magical piercing to project illusions, visual and auditory, so he can impersonate just about anyone he wants.
- Nightmare Fuel: In-Universe. Noir alters the "illusion" aspect of his piercings to force Tom to hallucinate his own worst fears. Said fear happens to take the form of Tom seeing himself as a helpless infant and Emma as The Worm That Walks with a bunch of insects swarming out of her mouth and forcing their way into his until he cries Tears of Blood. Fortunately, only Tom is subjected to this illusion. None of the other people present see it.
- Phantom Thief: Literally their title, and they're known for being almost uncatchable.
- Psychological Projection: Tom is obsessed with glory and fame, so everyone else must be. He views framing people for heinous crimes as doing them a favor because of the infamy they will suffer, thanks to him.
- Refuge in Audacity: It's precisely because their burglaries are so brazen, flashy, and theatrical, that they get away with it, until they made the mistake of kidnapping Emma and trying to cuckold Noir, at which point, he turned their own theatrics against them, though even that was a tough fight.
- Smug Smiler: Their default expressions.
- Summon Magic: Combined with Flunky Boss. Phan is a summoner who summons monsters she's captured and tamed to help her in battle.
Hornest and surrounding areas
For the area at large
- Cycle of Revenge: The criminal group runs by S wants to destabilize the country and bring down those Nobles that run a Forced Prize Fight by kidnapping the weak and unkilled women, children, elderly, and frail men, forcing them to fight each other to the death and taking bets on it. In turn, the nobles want vengeance on the criminal group for the crimes against them, killing off the nobles that participate one by one.
- Darker and Edgier: While the world wasn't exactly sunshine and rainbows before, the arc got considerably darker.
- Wretched Hive: The country is a mess. The home village of "Hero" Gaien is a den of cannibals, with the self-proclaimed "hero" being an Immortality Seeker Glory Hound who rigged his memorial to be a perpetual monster magnet, so he'd always be remembered by the city being in constant danger. The nobles kidnap commoners and force them to fight to the death and make wagers on who would be the winner for their own amusement. The friends and relatives of the losers establish a crime ring, willing to brainwash and murder to retaliate. The king takes genuine heroes and forces them to be assassins, even trying to force Emma to be his concubine against her will because he Has a Type, and Emma is it.
Gillan Stargazer
Noir's older brother.
- The Casanova: He's a shameless skirt chaser who happily plays around with girls, wooing and wowing them, but dumps them like crap the moment he thinks the relationship turns serious, leaving behind a lot of grudges and broken hearts.
- Foil: To Noir. They're both skirt-chasing perverts, and admit it, but that's where the similarity stops. Noir is actually faithful to the girls he woos and treasures their well-being. Gillan only sees girls as toys to play around with and dumps them, harshly, the moment he gets bored or the relationship gets serious.
- Ho Yay: In-Universe. The way he chooses to show affection to Noir goes way beyond normal brother-brother affection and is heavily sexually charged. Noir pointedly does not like it.
- Miles Gloriosus: As part of wooing girls, he's fond of boasting and bragging of being a mighty warrior who will never abandon them, but the moment a genuine threat is on the horizon, he flees.
- Remember the New Guy?: He's introduced in chapter 100+ of the web-novel, yet all the characters act as if he's been around since before chapter 1.
- Underestimating Badassery: Despite neglecting his training to the point his level actually drops, he sees himself as vastly superior to his little brother Noir, who has been grinding levels in badass like there's no tomorrow.
Gaien
The top alchemist in the town of Hornest, who is commemorated with a statue.
- Alchemy Is Magic: His skill with alchemy was heralded as nearly magical, capable of feats indistinguishable from divine miracles.
- Crazy-Prepared: He rigged the "gem of Peace" to release a powerful monster if it was shattered, just in case someone got wise to his scheme, not only to eliminate the individual, but eliminate all the evidence by attacking the town. Fortunately, by the time Noir is forced to destroy this gem, he had already earned the favor of the town's defenders through many actual heroic deeds.
- Engineered Heroics: The end of the Hornest arc reveals that his statue, holding a gem ironically named "The gem of Peace" is Encounter Bait that actually attracts monsters by the horde in more or less regular intervals after accumulating a certain level of mana, not only for the original wave of monsters he "rescued" the town from, but so his memory would never fade as the waves of monsters would be a recurring reminder.
- A Hero to His Hometown: He is held up as a "hero" in the city of Hornest for presumably fending off a wave of monsters.
- I Am a Humanitarian: Not only is his home village a nest of cannibals in the present day, but his own diary sings the praises of eating human flesh, with his hidden lab having piles of human bones and his diary splashed with long ago crusted human blood.
- Immortality Seeker: According to his own diary, he attacked Olivia when she refused to use her abilities to give him immortality, trying to compel her by force.
- Mook Maker: His own diary reveals that he launched several "creations" at Olivia and was shocked that she easily cut them down.
- Post Humous Character: Long dead by the time Noir learns about him.
- Villain with Good Publicity: For starters, he's an Immortality Seeker cannibal, and hatched some kind of plan to make his memory immortal when he learned he could never actually become immortal.
S/ Midcarda
The leader of a criminal gang that's universally hated by the capital city of the same country as the town of Hornest, but as loathed as they are, it's a close second to the king and his crew.
- An Arm and a Leg: Combined with Faking the Dead. Noir chops off his arm in battle and then turns that over to the king, saying "S died cursing the fact that he couldn't topple the royalty."
- Freudian Excuse: His younger sister was snatched up in "nobles' entertainments" and died.
- Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: The royal guards are the ones who kidnapped his sister to put into a Forced Prize Fight, to the death, with a bunch of other unskilled women, children, and the elderly. Obviously, she was not the victor.
- Obfuscating Stupidity: He runs a stall, and lets the guards kick him around to hide the fact that he's a criminal mastermind.
Natania
An innkeeper that Noir meets in the capital and who leads a group that has a grudge with S's group.
- Hulking Out: When she activates her "Oni" abilities, she grows larger, becomes level 150 as opposed to her normal level 18, and becomes so much stronger, simple pebbles hit like bullets.
- Revenge Myopia: Her little brother was a sadistic mass-murderer, yet she considers S a monster for killing him and wants revenge for it, calling the kidnappings and blood-sports known as Noble Fight "his little shortcomings." Getting enraged when Noir calls her out on it.
