Shout Out / Allusions

As the theme of this game implies, there are plenty of references to look out for. This page is a work in progress, and may likely stay that way as the game updates.

Anime and Manga

• Berserk: The Dragonslayer makes an appearance as a rare arsenal item, and was also the subject of the April Fools update.
• The Kamehameha from Dragon Ball, which is considered a rare arsenal item.
• Chainsaw Man:
  • The Chainsaw Fiend weapons gives you an appearance that matches Denji when he's utilzing the half-fiend form. Using Rejuvinating Rev with 30 or more blood gives you the full-on appearance of the Chainsaw Man form.
  • Aki's nail also appears as a weapon, and is capable of utilizing both the Fox and Curse devils.
  • Force Manipulation is one of Makima's abilities. This spawns an unnamed convict, referencing how Force Manipulation requires someone else to inflict it on.
  • Cosmic Understanding is one of Cosmo's abilities as the Cosmos Fiend, trapping someone in mental insanity where they can only think of Halloween until they die.
  • Pochita is available via gamepass, although he's more of a toy rather than a weapon or arsenal item.
• Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Kyojuro Nichirin carries some of the techniques used by Kyojuro.
• Fate Series:
  • Gae Bolg, Ionian Hetaroi, Gates of Akkadia, and Enuma Elish reference some of the Noble Phantasms used by Servants.
  • The Unlimited Blade works weapon event lets a player play as EMIYA while causing the map to switch to his Reality Marble. However, it is currently removed.
• Jojos Bizarre Adventure:
  • First Bomb lets you wield Killer Queen's power to turn people into bombs.
  • Nella Mia Anima will drop a cross-shaped rock on a bandana when you drop it, referring to how Caesar died.
  • President's Room gives you the key to the titular Stand to escape into.
  • Shadow the World gives you some of Shadow DIO's moves.
  • Unwavering Resolve brings you back to life by having you play Traitor's Requiem on a piano.
  • Visions activates King Crimson's Epitaph ability.
• Jujutsu Kaisen:
  • Gojo's Blue, Red and Hollow Purple techniques appear as arsenal weapons, the last one being rare.
  • Also appearing as arsenal weapons include Mashito's Idle Transfiguration, Inumaki's Cursed Speech and Yuji's Divergent Fist.
  • The Restricted by The Heavens weapon event allows a player to play as Toji.
• One Piece:
  • Black Leg Style, Tremor Bisento and the Light Light fruit's abilities appear as weapons. Zoro's three-sword style was also present, but has since been removed.
  • Armament and Conqueror's Haki appear as arsenal items.

Video Games

• Blasphemous II: Ruego Al Alba is one of several weapons used by the Penitent One.
• Clash of Clans:
  • Wall Breaking Run gives you a Wall Breaker's bomb to run at enemies with.
  • The Portable Spell Factory can give one of four spells.
  • Build Springtrap plants a Booby Trap which can send a player into the sky despite not killing them.
• Cyberpunk 2077: Sandevistan appears as a rare arsenal item.
• Darkest Dungeon
  • Battle Heal and Mark For Death, which heals you and reduces an enemy's defense respectively
• Dark Souls:
  • The Wolf Knight's Greatsword and the Farron Blades both make appearances as weapons.
  • The First Flame event causes a little fire to spawn somewhere in the map. Should a player link it in time, they will gain the powers of a Lord of Cinder, and the music will be overrided by Gwyn's theme until the Lord of Cinder is killed.
• Dead by Daylight: The HillBilly Chainsaw gives the abilities of the Hillbilly.
• Deltarune: Snowgrave, which is referred to in the game as A Spell That You Don't Know.
• Doom: The Super Shotgun that was used by Doomguy.
• Genshin Impact:
  • Maiden Sword is the Whiteblind claymore with Noelle's charged attack and initial Elemental Burst as skills, referencing how most players would pair them together to improve Noelle's defense.
  • Vortex Vanquisher lets you use Zhongli's Elemental Skill and charged attack, while Order's Guidance is just his Elemental Burst.
  • Plane of Euthymia has you take out the Raiden Shogun's sword and click on another player to send both of you to her pocket dimension for a one-on-one fight.
  • All the items listed above except Order's Guidance are grouped together in a Retake loadout called "The Traveler."
  • Phoenix Dawn is Diluc's Elemental Burst. Like Order's Guidance, it has a brief cinematic that just before enemies are damaged.
  • The delusions used by the Fatui are a secondary item, however they simply increase your attack stat instead of giving you Elemental Powers.
• Hollow Knight:
  • Shade Cloak gives you the Knight's Air-Dashing ability.
  • Fallen's Fury and Speed Maestro are based on the Fury of the Fallen and the Sprintmaster charms respectively.
  • The Fool's Colosseum map is taken from an area in the game where the Knight would take on increasingly difficult trials.
• Hours (2020):
  • The Visitor's Umbrella is a weapon within the game, but only has its beam ability useable.
  • There is a weapon set based off of HOURS, containing the items from the game and fitting ones.
  • Equinox's swords were once in the game, but were eventually removed and separated into arsenal items.
• Kingdom Hearts: The Kingdom Key is the Keyblade used by Sora.
• Left 4 Dead 2:
  • The Midnight Stage map refers to the Midnight Riders stage that serves as the finale of the Dark Carnival campaign.
  • Charger Rush allows you to use the main attack of the Charger. Having this in your inventory enlargens your right arm a bit to reflect the Charger's mutation.
• Lobotomy Corporation/Library of Ruina:
  • Mimicry lets you use Gebura's sword while Manifest Red Mist lets you manifest her E.G.O.
  • Silent Orchestra and Echoes From The Beyond lets you produce damaging sounds that came from the Abnormalities with the same name.
  • Solemn Lament lets you utilize the Silent Orchestra's E.G.O weapons for a short time.
  • Serums K, R, and W are considered separate weapons. Fittingly, their Retake loadout is called "The Claw."
  • The Black Silence weapon event (later moved to Juggernaut) has the players look for Roland's workshop weapons, and whoever gets the most weapons can play as him for the remainder of the round. Depending on how many players they kill, the background song representing their emotional level will change for every 5 players killed until Gone Angels plays.
  • Ranga Workshop is also Roland's only workshop weapon that can be used separately from his weapon event.
• Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance: High-Frequency Blade and Murasama are the swords used by Raiden and Jetstream Sam respectively.
• Overwatch: Gracie lets you throw the Junker Queen's titular knife.
• Risk of Rain 2:
  • Before getting its own themed update, this game was initially referenced by the Bustling Fungus, or Bungus.
  • When said themed update occurred, a variety of tool items were added, with some of them coming from the Common Crate while others such as the Chronobauble, Concussion Device, Fuel Cell, and several others being their own item. The Primordial Cube serves as the Rare Arsenal counterpart.
  • The Commando Pistols and Bandit Kit directly reference two of the Survivors.
  • Mithrix got his own weapon event as the King of Nothing.
• Team Fortress 2:
  • A single item called the TF Wrench used to exist, but its abilities were eventually split into the Engineer's wrench on its own, his Dischord taunt kill, and the Mini Sentry Gun.
  • You can summon the Medic to heal you.
• Touhou Project:
  • The Scarlet Devil weapon event/juggernaut will let you play as Remilia Scarlet and fight everyone else on top of her mansion, assuming you can grab her spear before everyone else.
  • Icicle Machinegun makes you spray ice crystals in a manner similar to the ice fairy Cirno.
  • The Hakurei Gohei and Binding Seal are both used by Reimu.
  • Master Spark refers to Marisa's Signature Move.
  • Maid's Pocketwatch uses Sakuya's knives while stopping time.
  • Open Gap summons a train through Yukari's portals.
• Tsukihime: The Nanatsu-Yoru switchblade as handled by SHIKI Nanaya appears as a weapon.
• ULTRAKILL:
  • The Soul Survivor weapon event/juggernaut lets you play as Minos Prime, voice lines and all.
  • Judgement Kick is Minos Prime's only move that is separate from his weapon event.
  • Abilities that were used by V1 include Whiplash, V2's shotgun arm, and Ricochet.
  • The Cyber Grind is used as a map.
• Valorant: The many ultimate's from the game found in the arsenal type-items include Chambers Tour de Force, Brimstones Hellfire, KAY/O's NULL/CMD, Yoru's Dimensional Drift and Sovas Hunters Fury.
• Warframe: Mach Rush lets you use Gauss' first ability.
• Yakuza:
  • Majima's Breaker and Slugger styles used to be in the game before they were removed. Breaker styler however was reworked and re-added during update XLII.
  • Several taunts harken back to many karaoke songs, such as Today is A Diamond, 24-Hour Cinderella and Majimas rendition of Get to The Top.
  • The Dragon of Dojima event summons the Finance King to the map. Should anyone successfully kill him, their loadout will be entirely replaced with Kiryu's Legend Style and have the Tech Trance remix of Recieve You play until they are killed.

Miscellaneous

• The map towny was originally made for item asylum.
  • The Asylum gamemode straight-up adopts item asylums playstyle, increasing speed and knockback, making everyone easier to kill, and some moves to be cosmetically changed. For example, Inferno instead acts as 10 Hour Burst.
• Tuba Set refers to a meme about a person wearing a tuba on their head being portrayed as a boss.
• Crecent Rose and Ember Celica are available as weapons.
• Little Friend has you shoot a grenade from a rifle, and takes its name from the Signature Scene of Scarface.
• One of the Cut Content-exclusive weapons, Baller, took it's name and mechanics from Boss Fighting Stages.
