Here's Euronymous and his weap-, uh, we mean allies: Kotonoha and Sekai. Little did he know this would backfire horribly...
What If? you picked School Days, an infamous Deconstruction of a harem H-Game and then add Mayhem (yes, that Mayhem) to the situation. It doesn't need to be the entire cast of either, just the most prominent characters, wouldn't it be quite... blackened school days?

Mayhem Days is a short fanfiction created in 2023 by Xentrick-The-Creeper. As the name implies, at the heart of this twisted tale lay the resurrection of the fictionalised version of the former Mayhem guitarist Øystein Aarseth, also known as the infamous 'Euronymous', a malevolent figure of Norwegian Black Metal scene's early days. While he was wandering in a storage shed in Oslo, he discovered a copy of visual novel and its respective anime adaptation called School Days. Curious, Euronymous played both and he disliked the sex scenes. Upon seeing the infamous gruesome scenes in the bad endings however, he was pleasantly surprised and sought to recreate them by summoning Kotonoha Katsura and Sekai Saionji, the two main heroines. However, he casted Makoto Itou aside for someone more personal, to assassinate his murderer in act of vengeance - Varg Vikernes of Burzum infame and ex-bandmate. And this would go as exactly as you'd expect...

Mayhem Days has examples of:

  • A God Am I: Euronymous is implied to see himself as a god, following Satan's steps. His mental health may speak otherwise. Considering that he named himself after a Greek spirit of death, this would make sense.
  • Adaptational Badass: Varg and Euronymous gained rather superhuman abilities and did quite a brawl to each other. You'd admire them for those skills even though both of them were Jerkass villains.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Downplayed. Sekai and Kotonoha did indeed commit horrific crimes... but that's because they were under control of someone else and upon realising that they were used for such gruesome acts, they redirect their aim at their "master" to bring karma to him and to give him a taste of his own actions.
  • Adapted Out: Makoto was merely mentioned once, but was never actually seen in action. Same with characters that aren't the two heroines. But don't think Makoto Itou's absence would improve the situation here, if anything - it'd make things worse.
  • Aerith and Bob: Kotonoha, Sekai, Øystein (AKA Euronymous) and Varg (AKA Louise or Kristian). Justified as they're from different countries.
  • Asshole Victim:
    • While Euronymous was indeed in just for trying to get back at his murderer, causing carnage across Norway by using Kotonoha and Sekai as his pawns effectively rendered his point mood when he wreak havoc through Kotonoha and Sekai, so him getting raped by and forced to repeatedly impregnate the very girls he used as instruments of terror was rather satisfying... especially when one of his victims was a child...
    • Varg also counts as this. After all, all this would've not happen if he hadn't murdered Euronymous a long time ago in the first place, so to an extent, Varg did deserve having Kotonoha and Sekai trying to kill him.
  • Back from the Dead:
  • Bittersweet Ending: This is one of few bittersweet endings that are surprisingly darker than a Downer Ending would have. Varg got to move on with his life and went back to France. Euronymous on the other hand...
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Kotonoha and Sekai, the cradle of the plot and Euronymous' scheme.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Using Kotonoha and Sekai as weapons of terror can at one moment end up in you under siege.
  • Break the Cutie: Coax them into commiting sexual abuse and manslaughter...
  • Chaotic Evil: Just look at what have Varg's enemy done and you'll see.
  • Character Exaggeration: A carryover from the anime adaptation, as the girls' their negative traits being dialed up to the point where they pretty much dominate their personalities. But this time, it was exploited.
  • Crossover: Fictionalised versions of Black Metal figures meet School Days characters, need to state more?
  • Darker and Edgier: As if neither the anime adaptation of School Days, nor Mayhem were incredibly dark enough, this fanfiction takes both's grimmest moments and kitbashes into an unholy hybrid. All we need is Pelle, Hellhammer and Makoto to join in.
  • Dark Fic: Well, duh. What do you expect when you combine a Visual Novel that heavily deconstructs H-Game and Harem Genre with a Black Metal band known for a member's suicidenote , church arsons and murder of a bandmate?
  • Deconstruction: Of Revenge Fic. Mayhem Days serves as a cautionary tale against using bloodshed and violence from "School Days" that was known for to fuel one's desire for revenge. The story emphasizes that such actions not only fail to make one better than their adversary but also turn them into an even worse villain. In simpler terms, using Kotonoha and Sekai as instruments to unleash one's cruel thirst for revenge does not make you any better than Makoto.
  • Deconstruction Crossover:
  • Doom Troops: Summoned by the both black metal figures to one-up each other.
  • Double Standard Rape: Female on Male: Weaponized. But then Euronymous would get his just desserts.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Varg. Yes, he is a murderer. Yes he is an arsonist. Yes, he is a bigot. And he did deserve what comes to him. But here, he was simply trying to defend himself the chaos girls brought him into and was (implied to be) horrified when he saw all the terror his former bandmate had unleashed.
  • Evil Versus Evil: Varg and Øystein (with Kotonoha and Sekai on the latter's side) had a brutal showdown... and neither of them were exactly good...
  • Eviler than Thou: Euronymous to Makoto and perhaps even Taisuke. Sure, the latter two weren't saints (one is a reckless womaniser and cheater, the other is a full-blown rapist). On the other hand, would they (indirectly) be responsible for the murder of innocent folks who did nothing to them?
  • Fan Disservice: Played for Horror. Fifty innocent people were raped and annihilated at the girls' hands. And one of them was a literal child... Think about it...
    • Exaggarated: And if this isn't enough, one of the perpetrators, Kotonoha, was a rape victim herself in the source material (in that case by Taisuke). In other words: Euronymous has turned a rape victim into a rapist and an even far more terrible one.
  • Genre Mashup: A crossover of a (rather realistic depiction of the) harem visual novel+anime and a musical gerne driven by extremism, relentless anti-Christianity and mythology, with even a slight political bend for a good measure and added pseudo-war themes. Complex, eh?
  • The Great Fire: In the Norwegian forests.
  • Hitler Ate Sugar: Euronymous used School Days as a tool for murder and to serve his hunger for revenge and Euronymous is evil, so this means...
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Vikernes invoked this trope by having the schoolgirls come to their senses and realise they were manipulated into doing horrific acts. And boy, did it end well for Øystein?
  • Human Weapon: Kotonoha and Sekai in this fanfiction.
  • Interplay of Sex and Violence: Oh boy and in spades on that regard, to point of Played for Horror with significant deconstruction.
  • Karma Houdini: Varg, for causing flames in Norwegian forests. Averted with Aarseth.
  • Meaningful Name: There was certainly a lot of mayhem during those school days in the fanfic. Bonus points when the title is a Portmanteau of the visual novel and a band.
  • Murderers Are Rapists: Guess who utilise this trope in the story?
  • Out with a Bang: Fifty people were murdered while being raped at hands of the girls.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Deconstructed, as Euronymous' revenge got him into trouble.
  • Police Are Useless: The police (as well as firefighters and medical personnel) weren't shown anywhere, whether Kotonoha and Sekai raped and murdered innocent people (under Euronymous' command), or when the battle has caused a flame destruction of Norwegian forests.
  • Porn with Plot: A carryover from the original visual novel and its anime adaptation. Especially in the ending...
  • Rape as Drama: Exaggerated. There were indeed a massive wave of rape here. And That's Terrible.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: Zig-zagged between this and Karmic Rape. Played straight when Euronymous used rape as a part of having the girls cause terror. Inverted when it came back to bite him in the ass. This is, huh... wow,... NICE BOAT!
  • Real-Person Fic: Varg and Euronymous are real people that were fictionalised here.
  • Revenge Fic: Downplayed and eventually deconstructed, despite this trope being the plot's muscle and bones. Euronymous did indeed pursue revenge against his murderer, but his actions didn't leave him unpunished.
  • Revenge Is Not Justice: Referring to the above trope.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: At first it seems like it was being played straight, but later enters into subversion, as stated above, Varg's rival didn't get his vengeance here, trapping him in a web of his own making.
  • Set a Mook to Kill a Mook: Invoked, Varg sabotaged the girls' equipment so he can have Kotonoha and Sekai kill each other as a means for him to get rid of them.
  • Sex Slave: Euronymous in the end, ironically by his own pawns (although considering what has he done, he does deserve it).
  • Transplanted Character Fic: The bane of the fanfiction.
  • Truth in Television: Aarseth used Kotonoha and Sekai to rape and murder people and to spread terror throughout Norway in effort to make them hitmen to kill Vikernes. The real-life counterpart was indeed a proponent of these crimes and also supported terrorism, so this fan work has that going for.
    • Varg used Pagan powers to stop his rival's Satanic powers. The real life Vikernes claimed that Aarseth - determined to promote Satanism and incite intense Christian opposition - disapproved of latter's desire to encourage paganism, so there's that too (although due to Varg being Varg, this is highly debatable).
  • War Is Hell: The soldiers summoned by the two black metal members ended up very traumatised and disabled.
  • Weird Crossover: Not weird in that both Mayhem (and by extension Burzum) and School Days were messed up in their respective types of medium, but rather in that one is set of purely fictional characters, the other were fictionalised versions of real people (and one of them is deceased)...
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Euronymous.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Justified as Varg was defending himself from the main School Days heroines trying to kill him he found himself into. For once he is in actual self-defence.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Euronymous has absolutely zero qualms on having Kotonoha and Sekai raping and slaying a 9 year-old kid. Dude has incredibly fucked up mental state (to put it very lightly) here...
  • Yandere: Downplayed with the girls as they were merely used as tools for rape and manslaughter. However, the ending has some of those traits return a bit in Kotonoha and Sekai.
