John Leeson (born 16 March 1943) is an English actor. Although he has played on-screen roles, he is best known for two voice-only roles: Bungle in
Rainbow and the Doctor's robot dog companion
K9 in
Doctor Who.
He voiced K9 in Seasons 15 and 16 of Doctor Who, starting with the characters introduction in "The Invisible Enemy", before leaving after two seasons, handing over the role to David Brierly for Season 17. When Brierley left after one season, Leeson agreed to return for Season 18 on the understanding that K9 would be written out during the season, which he was in "Warriors' Gate".
Subsequently, Leeson has made guest return appearances in "The Five Doctors", "School Reunion" and "Journey's End".
