     Jenny Smith

"Someone's got to try."
A whimsical young woman who accidentally gains the power to summon objects from parallel universes at will. Girlfriend of Laura Drake.
  • Animal Motifs: Butterflies. She's first seen staring at one, her pupils briefly turn into butterfly silhouettes when she gets her powers, and her shadow is that of a butterfly in The Stinger that reveals her powers have not faded.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Is introduced getting distracted by a butterfly fluttering past the window while Laura is trying to have a serious conversation with her.
  • Goggles Do Nothing: Wears a pair on her forehead, seemingly purely as an eccentric fashion choice.
  • No Full Name Given: She's not Jenny "Everywhere" yet, having barely gotten her powers, but her full civilian name isn't revealed in the first story. In Chapter 2, it's revealed to be Smith.
  • Special Person, Normal Name: Jenny Smith, interdimensional nigh-Reality Warper. Who'd have thought?

     Doctor Laura Drake
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/laura_drake.png
"I have… so many questions."
A genius inventor who's trying really, really hard not to be a Mad Scientist, despite clear… tendencies.
  • Labcoat of Science and Medicine: Wears a light-purple variant of the typical Howie-style mad-scientist labcoat, including to her demonstration at the Museum and even in her own home. She's a physicist.
  • Mad Scientist: Loudly protests otherwise, insisting that she's well-intentioned and trying to avoid any accidents, but she's often seen as one, to her distress. Her wardrobe surely doesn't help.
"It hasn't been easy for this humble physics graduate. Delays… setbacks… psychiatric evaluations"
  • Omnidisciplinary Scientist: Describes herself as a "physics graduate", but she apparently moonlights as an engineer, having designed a bespoke flying vehicle for herself (the Bubblecopter). She is, however, not a licensed psychiatrist, although she once used Exact Words to temporarily make Jenny believe otherwise.

    Jimmy Westeron
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jimmy_westeron.png
Private James "Jimmy" Westeron, a soldier in the army of the Mystepolian Republic. Author's notes make it clear that he's this universe's version of Jimmy Wherever, but as of the opening chapter, Laura and Jenny know him only as a random "soldier guy" who was nearly killed by Grallyx.

    Doctor Cartwright
An as-yet-unseen character who's apparently left a mark on Laura Drake's self-confidence, convincing her that she'd never be anything else than a dangerous mad scientist.
  • The Ghost: As of Chapter 1, only a name mentioned by Laura.

     Jenny Nowhere
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2023_04_04_212347828.png
"Call me Nowhere."
A mysterious woman who spells bad news to our Jenny — first seen as a guest in attendance at the public demo of the Triangular Bisector that started it all.
  • '20s Bob Haircut: Sports one, which, along with her short, pleated skirt, makes her look like The Flapper, although she's anything but in terms of personality.
  • Adaptation Origin Connection: Here, she is put at odds with our Jenny because she's the Man in Grey's top enforcer and works for the Altern Corporation. This has no precedent in other Jenny Everywhere media, where Nowhere typically works alone and goes after Jenny for her own reasons.
  • Badass Cape: A midnight-blue one going down to her waist.
  • Creepy Blue Eyes: Intensely blue eyes, drawn without pupils for extra unsettling effort, that go with her entirely blue wardrobe.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: As revealed by her design being identified as Jenny Nowhere on the cover of Chapter 2, she was one of the unnamed museum guests watching Laura's demo in one panel of Chapter 1.
  • Empty Eyes: Her irises are solid blue, without pupils, giving them a hollow look that accentuates the nihilistic hopelessness typical of a version of Jenny Nowhere.
  • Excessive Evil Eyeshadow: A classic example, covering her eyelid and her lower eyeshadow, in dark blue.
  • The Heavy: Apparently the Man in Grey's top agent, whom he calls in to "take Jenny into custody" after realising how strong she's become. She is, however, not The Dragon.
  • High Collar of Doom: Part of her royal-blue Badass Cape.
  • Smug Super: Has a high opinion of shifters like herself and Jenny Everywhere, which the latter decries as "elitist".

     The Man in Grey
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_man_in_grey.png
"Ah, Doctor Drake. And I had such hopes for you, too… but I suppose you have a heart after all."
A mysterious, gray man who runs the Altern Corporation.
  • Adaptational Job Change: The first iteration of the Man in Grey, and his sole Alternate Self introduced prior to the webcomic, were both in charge of the benign and low-scale Multidimensional Finders Service, not the Altern Corporation's Corrupt Corporate Executive.
  • Adaptational Villainy: The version of the Man in Grey seen in The Nine-Two-Five Universe was something of a Bad Boss, but also had his Adorkable moments, and didn't have a particular agenda beyond making the Multidimensional Finders Service a success as a business (by whatever ambiguous metric he measures success given that there's no visible way for its operations to make money). Additionally, he was a mid-level enforcer for the Great Higher-Ups rather than a Big Bad in himself.
  • Adaptation Origin Connection: Here, he runs the Altern Corporation which employs Laura Drake, and is Jenny Nowhere's boss. This has no precedent in other Jenny Everywhere media, where all three of these elements had historically been unrelated. See also Adaptational Job Change and Adaptational Villainy above.
  • Big Bad: He's been watching Jenny and Laura all along, financed the latter's experiments, and is the one to send Nowhere after Jenny in Chapter 2.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Bemoans that Laura Drake turned out to "have a heart after all" while talking to himself.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Jenny doesn't trust Altern to use Laura's discoveries for good, and doesn't want anything to do with them, even without knowing anything about the big man himself. It quickly turns out the Man in Grey is even more unscrupulous than she suspects, spying on her and Laura and having no hesitation about planning to abduct Jenny and to intimidate Laura into compliance with his plans.
  • Deliberately Monochrome: His outfit, hair and skin, as well as his speech bubbles, are all in shades of grey.
  • Painting the Medium: His speech bubble are gray and written a different, more archaic font from the regular characters'.
  • Pointy Ears: His most obvious sign of non-humanity, though you'd be able to tell either way. Quite what he is has yet to be revealed.
  • Vile Villain, Laughable Lackey: With Colonel Major. The Man in Grey is monochrome and serious as a heart attack while the Colonel is a rotund, comical, colourful mook.

Other dimensions

     Lord Grallyx
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lord_grallyx.png
Click here to see his depowered form.
A demonic entity who first appears as a crocodilian Energy Being made of fire. After Jenny douses him in water, what is left of him is a very tiny six-legged lizard with Laura ends up keeping as a pet.
  • All There in the Manual: The character Q&A after Demon and the Butterfly reveals more of his bacstory, explaining that he was originally "a Salamander Lord of the Elemental Court" during "the Time of Legends".
  • Depower: After his fire is put out, he is reduced to a small, harmless lizard-thing.
  • Fiery Salamander: Never called a salamander in-story, but he's a six-legged crocodile-thing wreathed in fire. The character Q&A confirms that he was once a "Salamander Lord".
  • Omnicidal Maniac: "And now… I will burn this world!"
  • Our Demons Are Different: Described as a "giant demon-thing" by Laura.
  • Painting the Medium: His speech bubbles are a fiery yellow, and in a different font from everyone else.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: A demonic fire-elemental who was trapped in the heart of the Sun by the "Disciples of Light" for a billion years.
  • Logical Weakness: His fire goes out if you douse him in water, leaving only his true, tiny form.

     The Disciples of Golden Light
Or just "the Disciples". Ancient beings from a parallel universe, responsible for sealing Grallyx.

     Jenny Over-There
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jot.png
"Hi! You have reached the Multidimensional Finders Service!"
A bored-looking woman from another dimension whom Laura contacted by mistake once, who apparently does customer service for the "Multidimensional Finders Service". Actually The Cameo of the main character of a different ''Jenny Everywhere'' project.
  • All There in the Manual: Laura never learned her name, which is only clarified in the author's notes for the benefit of people unfamiliar with the series she's crossing over from.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. Despite the similarity in name, she has no relationship to Jenny Everywhere, and neither looks like her nor conspicuously unlike her. She's just another character with a similar name, no more, no less.
  • Supernatural Phone: Her clearly-visible Red Interdimensional Telephone, which can take calls from any universe.

     Alternative Jennies
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alternative_jennies.png
"Crazy, right? They all look different, but somehow, I know they're me."
An infinity of other versions of Jenny, who she starts glimpsing in her dreams starting in Chapter 2.
  • Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: Among the Jennies are a dragon and an earthworm, both of whom only wear a scarf and goggles.
  • Alliance of Alternates: Our Jenny doesn't know what's going on, but the group of Jennies all seem to be consciously hanging out in the dream-scape, possibly having gathered to greet our Jenny.
  • Alternate Self: Despite their different appearances, they're all alternative versions of Jenny.
  • Animal Motifs: They share our Jenny's association with butterflies: in her dream, she first perceives them as a swarm of butterflies of various colours and sizes before adjusting her perspective and realising they're other versions of her.
  • Cameo Cluster: In addition to various original incarnations, the establishing shot of the alternative Jennies includes several established versions of Jenny from other media, including the "Parallax Universe" Jenny from Scott Sanford's short stories, the nudist version seen in The Bare Pit and Tales to Behold, and the 38167th Universe's Jenny from The Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids. There's also a version who looks distinctly like a genderbent, goggles-wearing Tintin.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: Visible in the background, one Jenny is a blue dragon with a long, serpentine body, two fin-like wings, and two legs. She's still wearing a scarf and goggles.
  • Our Goblins Are Different: One of the Jennies appears to be a goblin. She has light green skin, spiky forest-green hair, pointy ears, and a small pointy nose.
